ENGINE SHUT OFF ON 2 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON CITY ROAD. LUCKILY NO TRAFFIC SO NO CRASH. POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WENT OUT AS WELL. DEALER SAID NO OPEN RECALLS. THIS SOUNDS LIKE WINS RECALL THAT IMPACTED SOME 2010 CARAVANS
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CAR SHUTS OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING . IT WILL START BACK UP AFTER YOU PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN IT BACK ON BUT IT JUST SHUTS OFF . IT SHUT OFF ON ME TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND FOUR TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY.IT MAKES THIS WEIRD NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT AND THE LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING ON AND OFF. IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH THE DOORS SEEM TO JUST OPEN AND CLOSE ON THERE OWN THE TRUNK SHUT ON ME WHILE I WAS GETTING GROCERIES OUT. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE SHUTTING OFF AND CLAIMED THEY FIXED THE DOOR OPENING IN IT'S OWN PROBLEM .WELL THE DOORS CONTINUE TO OPEN AND NOW THEY ARE HARD TO OPEN WITH THE KEY AND YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY OPEN THEM . THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND THE DEALER IS CLAIMING THERE IS NOTHING WRONG PLEASE HELP ME.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,567. *JS

SOUTHLAND CHRYSLER INCORPORATED 1096 US-280, CORDELE, GA 31015 (229) 273-3473, WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE DUE TO A PCM FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER TO RETRIEVE A NEW PCM FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE MAY ALSO BE RELATED TO THE KEYFOB. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE STATE ROUTE LAST NIGHT AROUND 55 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS BEHIND 4 VEHICLES. MY 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS 113,982 MILES ON IT SUDDENLY WENT WILD OPEN, I PASSED 2 OF THE CARS AND THANK GOD THERE WAS NO ONE COMING THE OTHER WAY. I WAS ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD PUSH. I PULLED IN BETWEEN THE 2 MIDDLE CARS AND HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS? THANKS, WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP I CAN GET.
vehicle hard starts when key in ignition and turned to on position vehicle does not always start when key in ignition vehicle engine shuts off for no reason while driving in traffic I have taken it to the dealer in my area they say there is no recall on it I have asked them to replace my gear selector and ignition switch they said it would be $1100 and I paid that but all they did was grease the pin in the gear selector and charged me the $1100 anyway and I'm still experiencing the same issues continually happens spiratically

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
FOR THE PASS YEAR BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRACTION, BAS, BRAKE AND ESP LIGHTS COMING ON AND SOMETIMES LOSING TEMPORARILY POWER. SOMETIMES IT DIES AND 90% OF TIME HAVE TO RESET THE CLOCK. IF IT DOESN'T DIE AND I PULL OVER AND KILL IT AND CRANK IT BACK AND THE DASH LIGHTS GO OFF BUT MOST OF TIME HAVE TO RESET CLOCK. SOMETIMES DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY, AND IN PARKING LOTS AND SOMETIMES BACKING OUT OF MY CARPORT..MY FOOT USUALLY ON BRAKE BUT A FEW TIMES IT WASNT.THIS IS THE SHORT VERSION ON MY 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN THAT HAS 180,000 MILES
MY STX GRAND CARAVAN STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING. NO TROUBLE LIGHTS COME ON EXCEPT THE TRACTION LIGHT. THE LIGHT GOES OFF AS SOON AS YOU RESTART THE VAN. USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN. NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT !! HAS HAPPENED IN THE CITY BUT MOSTLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS.
WHILE DRIVING AT 35-40MPH ON A RURAL ZONE THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY FELT 'LOCKED' AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. AT THE SAME TIME THE BRAKES WERE HARD TO PRESS AND THE TRACTION CONTROL DASH LIGHT CAME ON. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND FRIGHTENED HER VERY MUCH. THE ROAD HAS A SLIGHT CURVE IN IT AND HAS ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE OPPOSITE LANE. SHE HAD TO FORCIBLY STEER THE VAN AS BEST SHE COULD AGAINST THE SIDEWALK CURB TO HELP SLOW DOWN THE VAN. IF SHE HAD MADE IT TO THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED I DON'T THINK THE RESULTS WOULD BE THE SAME AS FAR AS HER SAFETY. I LOOKED UP THE SYMPTOMS AND FOUND IT TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT EVEN A RECALL MIGHT BE IN PLACE FOR THIS ISSUE. PLEASE FORWARD ME ANY INFO THAT WILL HELP ME CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ESP INDICATOR LIGHTS. WHEN YOU COAST TO A STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IT WILL RESTART.

AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION; HOWEVER, THE ELECTRIC STEERING CONTROL INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,500.
THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, STOPPING, STOPPED OR OTHER OPERATION FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION AND WILL NOT COME UNSTUCK. THE KEY FOB WILL NOT OPEN/UNLOCK THE DOOR. YOU CANNOT MANUALLY OPEN/UNLOCK THE DOOR
WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO THE MAIN ROAD FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD, STEERING FAILED (STIFF AS IF NO POWER STEERING AND VEHICLE PROPULSION FAILED (FOOT ON THE GAS PRODUCED NO FORWARD MOTION). VEHICLE WAS QUIET. ALMOST LIKE A STALL OR AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL, BUT THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED. DRIVER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THIS IS THE THIRD OR FOURTH INCIDENT.

UPON RESEARCH, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT CALLED FURY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM SAINT PAUL (LOCATED AT 1000 CONCORD ST S, SOUTH ST PAUL, MN 55075, (651) 451-1313), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
THE 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN LEFT HAND SIDE WIRING LOOM WEARS ON AN ALUMINUM OBTRUSION BENEATH WHERE IT LIES. THIS CAUSES THE WIRE'S SHIELDING TO BE WORN OFF AND CAUSES SHORTING. THE ENGINE WILL DIE WHEN THE WIRE CONTACTS METAL OR EACH OTHER DURING TRAVEL. THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO DIE AT ROAD SPEEDS LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT STEERING, BRAKES, AND OTHER SAFETY RELATED EQUIPMENT. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE COMMON AND UNDETECTED BECAUSE THE WEAR POINT IS ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE WIRING LOOM NEAR THE ENGINE. THE HARNESS IS HARD TO LIFT AND INSPECT BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION AND LACK OF SLACK AT THE POINT OF THE OBTRUSION. VIBRATION CAUSES THE SHORT, THE VEHICLE WILL NORMALLY START AFTER COMING TO A STOP WHEN THERE IS NO FRICTION BETWEEN THE WORN WIRES. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE REVIEWED AND ANALYZED FOR A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVED AS OTHERS HAVE STATED BUT ARE UNAWARE OF THE CAUSE. I HAVE ADDED ADDITIONAL WRAPPING TO LIMP MY VEHICLE HOME DURING A THREE HOUR TRIP. ADDITIONALLY, THIS FORM WOULD NOT LET ME SELECT STEERING, BRAKES, OR OTHER SAFETY FEATURES WHEN I SELECTED ELECTRICAL, WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY WHAT CAUSES THE SAFETY ISSUES. *JS
BOUGHT THE VAN FROM COOKS VOLKSWAGEN ON MAY 7TH, 2018. IN THE FIRST 3 MTHS OF ME OWNING IT I HAD TO GET 2 MOTOR MOUNTS AND A STARTER PUT IN. THEN FROM THAT POINT IT WAS ALL DOWN HILL! IT HAS HAD 3 TRANSMISSIONS(COOKS HAS DONE 2 AND I TOOK THE VAN TO THOMPSON FOR THEM TO DO THE THIRD), HUB ASSEMBLY, WELDED THE CORE SUPPORT, POWER STEERING PULLEY AND BARING, STRUTS FOR THE TRUCK HATCH, I HAD TO PAY FOR OUT OF POCKET FOR POWER STEERING PULLEY AND BARING AND ONE DAY OF RENTAL FOR A RENTAL CAR! I HAVE ALREADY CALLED MY LAWYER AND TO HAVE CHRYSLER/DODGE SUED FOR SELLING AN UNINSPECTED VEHICLE AND FILING A CIVIL SUIT AGAINST YOUR COMPANY!!!! AS OF MAY 13,2019 IT IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN AND HAVE ANOTHER RENTAL VAN AFTER GETTING IT BACK ON FRIDAY MAY 10, 2019 AFTER IT'S 3RD TRANSMISSION BEING INSTALLED AND TRIED TO DRIVE IT DOWN 95 NORTH ON MAY 11,2019 AND I GOT TO 6TH GEAR AND IT WENT STRAIGHT INTO LIMP MODE AND HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THOMPSON'S TO FIX IT!
DRIVING AND IGNITION SHUT OFF.
THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THEN NOTHING WORKS. NO AIR BAGS, NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BRAKES. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS UNDER 35 MPH. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS COULD BE FATAL.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JIM CLICK JEEP (701 W AUTO MALL DR, TUCSON, AZ 85705, (866) 933-1114) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE IGNITION REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHEN RUNNING. CODES SHOWED IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR. BOTH WERE REPLACED SEVERALL TIMES MY A MECHANIC. DEALERSHIP HAD VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. REPLACED THE FLEXPLATE. IT NOW MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. NOW IT IS STALLING SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. IT PUTS MY FAMILY AT RISK AND NOW I CANNOT LEAVE THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN FEAR THAT IT WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. IF WE GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE STALLED NO AIRBAGS WILL BE REPLOYED. SOMETIMES IT HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING.
SINCE GETTING THE VEHICLE IN OCT. 2018, ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR STARTER ISSUES. WE HAVE REPLACED THE STARTER 4 TIMES AND STILL DOESN'T WANT TO START. THE NEXT THING WE DID WAS REPLACE THE TIPM MODULE AND 2 DAYS LATER STILL HAVING A PROBLEM WITH IT STARTING. AT TIMES IT TAKES 1-5 MINUTES TO START AND AT TIMES IT DOESN'T WANT TO START AT ALL. NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE HAVE PAID CLOSE TO $1600 ON THE VEHICLE AND IT STILL ISN'T FIXED.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN MOTION USUALLY WITHIN FIRST 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. WE THOUGHT IT WAS DOING IT BECAUSE WE DID NOT WARM UP THE ENGINE ENOUGH IN WINTER BUT NOW IT HAPPENS IS WARMER WEATHER AS WELL. THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF USUALLY WITHIN .25-2 MILES FROM THE START OF THE TRIP. THERE IS NO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT, AND NO ERROR IN LOG. THE CAR HAS ALREADY UNDERGONE THE IGNITION KEY RECALL REPAIR AND A 3 DAY DIAGNOSTIC AT A LOCAL DODGE DEALER IN SCHAUMBURG IL, WITHOUT THEM FINDING ANYTHING WRONG. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE DRIVER LOOSES POWER STEERING, 2 TIMES WE ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED MID TURN. IT WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT OR TURNING. USUALLY OF WE LET THE CAR SIT AND WARMING UP FOR 15-20 MINUTES THE PROBLEM WILL NOT SHOW UP, BUT IF WE START THE CAR AND PUT IT IN DRIVE WITHIN 1 MINUTE IT WILL MOST LIKELY STALL DURING THE DRIVE. WHILE THE CAR IS STILL ROLLING STRAIGHT THE WE CAN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE DRIVING BUT USUALLY WE HAVE TO MAKE A FULL STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC LANE BECAUSE THE WHEEL IS TOO HARD TO TURN TO PULL OVER. THERE IS MANY INSTANCES OF OTHER DODGE GRAND CARAVANS DOING THIS.
CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING WILL NOT START SOME TIMES
GOING ROUGHLY 55/60 MPH A DEER HIT MY DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VAN, TOTALLY MY VAN. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND WHEN LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE TO MY VAN I WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR BAGS SHOULD OF DEPLOYED. THE DAMAGE TO MY VAN WAS CONSIDERED A "TOTAL LOSS" AS WELL AS I WENT THROUGH MASSAGE THERAPY AND CHIROPRACTIC CARE.
MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL COMES ON AND I LOSE A POWER AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT
I BOUGHT MY 2010 VAN IN 2017. MARCH 1ST 2019 MY COMPLETE AND BRAKE CONTROL MODULE HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. MY BRAKE, ABS, ESP BAD AND TRACTION SENSOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON MY DASH BOARD, AND I HAVE NO EMERGENCY BRAKING AT ALL. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW A COMPLETE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM COMPUTER CAN JUST FAIL. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ROLLED THE WINDOWS DOWN AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW SWITCH PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW SWITCH PANEL WAS MELTED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). MY POWER SLIDING DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN MANUALLY!
A FEW WEEKS AGO I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY IGNITION, AND STARTED TO LOOK INFORMATION ABOUNT IT. I FOUND A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE (R3 / NHTSA 14V-373) WHERE THE REMEDY IS: THE WIN MODULE AND FOBIKS MUST BE REPLACED. I CALLED TO PALMER DODGE (770) 410-1111 (ADDRESS: 11460 ALPHARETTA HWY, ROSWELL, GA 30076 - WORKER: LUIS) AND MADE A APPOINTMENT TO FEV-19 (TODAY), AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WILL BE REPLACED, BUT TODAY THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY JUST WILL UPDATE THE WIN MODULE AND IT WILL BE FINE. THE REPORT SAY: THE WIN MODULE AND FOBIKS MUST BE REPLACED, SO I DON'T FELL GOOD BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I TRIED TO CONTACT RECALLS.MOPAR.COM BY CHAT, AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I ASK THE PALMER WORKER AND HE JUST SAY THAT UPDATE IS ENOUGH, BUT THE REPORT SAYS MUST BE REPLACED.
THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING. IT DOES NOT STALL OR SPUTTER TO A STOP, IT IS AN IMMEDIATE CUT OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS A BRAND NEW BATTERY, AND THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER PASSED INSPECTION AND TESTED FINE. WHEN THE ENGINE STOPS, WE ATTEMPT TO START IT BACK UP BUT THE ENGINE DOESN'T TURN OVER. IT WILL EVENTUALLY START BACK UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES.
MILEAGE: 100,000 THE ENGINE WILL CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING. DASH LIGHTS WILL FLASH, WARNING CHIME WILL BEEP, AND THE VEHICLE WILL REV AND LURCH FORWARD BEFORE DYING. THIS LEAVES THE CAR AT A COAST. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO A STOP, IT RESTARTS WITHOUT A PROBLEM. HAS HAPPENED IN COLD AND WARM WEATHER ALIKE.. HAS HAPPENED WHILE COASTING, BRAKING, AND ACCELERATING. MOST STALLS HAVE BEEN WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IN THE CITY. NO HIGHWAYS STALLS TO DATE . CAUSE: UNKOWN; WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE EVENT RELIABLY, THOUGH IT NOW OCCURS WITH SOME FREQUENCY (E.G. DRIVING MORE THAN 20 MIN). I SUSPECT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM) OR THE IGNITION SWITCH SOMEHOW MOVING BETWEEN ON AND ACCESSORY MODES. AVAILABLE DATA: ISSUES SIMILAR TO THIS ONE CAN BE FOUND ON FORUMS, IT DOES NOT SEEM THAT MANY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, DESPITE REPLACE THE COMPUTER AND ALTERNATOR.
CAN SHUT OFF WHEN DRIVING I HAVE TO COME TO A FULL STOP PUT IN PARK AND TURN IT BACK ON. WHILE THIS HAPPENS YOU LOSE ALL-POWERFUL NO BRAKES NO STARTING NO GAS. VERY SCARY I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 45MPH WHEN IT SHUT OFF THIS TIME I WAS COMPLETELY IN HEAD ON LANE WHEN I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT BACK. *TR

WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT DISPLAY THE CORRECT SPEED, THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WAS INOPERATIVE, AND THE ODOMETER NO LONGER RECORDED THE MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT A FAILURE WAS NOT FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 207,000.
THE VAN STARTED RANDOMLY SHUTTING DOWN/TURNING OFF/STALLING (HOWEVER YOU WANT TO TERM IT) WHILE IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED, ANY ROAD CONDITIONS, ALL GAS LEVELS, AND ANY TEMPERATURE. LAST OCCURRENCE WAS 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN 10 MINS. 3 SEPARATE MECHANICS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG AND SINCE IT CAN'T BE PRODUCED AT WILL, THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS AND RESULTS IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE SEPTEMBER 2018.

MY VAN WAS REPAIRED UNDER A FACTORY RECALL ON MARCH 21, 2016. ON PAPER, IT'S CALLED "R-03 IGNITION MODE". PRIOR TO THAT THE CAR WOULD HAVE TROUBLE STARTING, SOMETIMES NOT ABLE TO START IT AT ALL. THE REPAIR FIXED IT AND I WAS ISSUED A NEW KEY. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, IT STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME THOUGH, IT ALWAYS STARTS AFTER IT TURNS OVER FOR 3-10 SECONDS. OCCASIONALLY IT WON'T START THE FIRST TIME BUT ALWAYS STARTS ON THE SECOND TRY. WE HAVE HAD IT TO A MECHANIC OVER THE PAST YEAR THREE DIFFERENT TIME, AND THEY ALL THINK IT'S A PROBLEM THAT THE DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO HANDLE. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM DESPITE US SPENDING OVER $500 REPLACING THINGS THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE. I HAVE TRIED USING THE OTHER KEY AND THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENS. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE MONTHS. AT FIRST IT WOULD ONLY DO IT ONCE IN AWHILE. FOR THE PAST SIX MONTHS AT LEAST, IT DOES IT EVERY TIME I TRY TO START THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING A BURNT PLASTIC SMELL WAS PRESENT. WAS UNSURE IF THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. PARKED VEHICLE, TURNED OFF IGNITION, LEFT VEHICLE OUT OF SIGHT FOR AN ESTIMATED 5 MINUTES, VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY FOR THE REST OF INCIDENT. UPON RETURN TO THE VEHICLE THE REAR CARGO AREA WAS FILLING WITH SMOKE. SMOKE APPEARED TO BE GENERATING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE CARGO AREA, BEHIND THE 3RD ROW SEATS. ENTERED VEHICLE, REMOVED PERSONAL ITEMS, ATTEMPTED TO OPEN REAR CARGO HATCH AND HATCH WOULD NOT OPEN. AT THIS POINT THE SMOKE HAD COMPLETELY FILLED THE INTERIOR CABIN AND FLAMES ENGULFED THE VEHICLE. THE INTERIOR WAS COMPLETELY BURNED UP.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND IN THE NEXT SECOND THE CAR JUST LOST ALL POWER. NOTHING! I PULLED OVER AND IT STARTED ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER. HAVING TO DRIVE AN HOUR BACK HOME ON THE HIGHWAY WAS SCARED AND MY FATHER BEING A DISABLED VET - THIS IS THE VEHICLE THAT IS USED.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,367.
HEADLIGHTS FAILED AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. WHEN TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, THEY WOULD BLINK FOR TWO OR THREE TIMES THE REMAIN OFF. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES I RETURNED TO THE CAR AND THEY TURNED ON NORMALLY AND WORKED FOR ABOUT 9 MILES BEFORE FAILING AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF RESTARTING AND RETRYING THE LIGHTS THEY WORKED AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 8 MILES THEN FAILED AGAIN. REPEATED PROCESS AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 20 MILES HOME WITH NO MORE FAILURES. SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN YESTERDAY (ABOUT 4 DAYS AFTER FIRST INCIDENT). THIS TIME THERE WERE MULTIPLE FAILURES IN 12 MILES. ALL FAILURES OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
VAN STALLS WHILE DRIVING- NO STEERING, ETC
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE ENGINE INDEPENDENTLY STARTED AND THE POWER SLIDING DOOR OPENED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECT TO A REMOTE START. ON ONE OCCASION, THE CONTACT WORE THE KEY AROUND HIS NECK TO AVOID ACCIDENTALLY CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S HANDICAP RAMP WAS OPEN AS WELL WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURES, PATTERSON CHEVROLET (1611 US-259 BUS, KILGORE, TEXAS 75662, (903) 218-4651) REPROGRAMMED THE ECM AND REPLACED THE KEY FOBIKS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE HANDLES ON THE PASSENGERS DOORS ARE BROKE I CAN NOT USE THE SLIDING DOORS THERE IS NO RUST AROUND THE HANDLES. TO ME THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND ONE IS AUTISTIC. I BELIEVE THE HANDLES WERE DESIGNED POORLY AND NOT PUT ON RECALL. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS.
