NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Engine cooling system has failed multiple times causing the engine to overheat, it has been reproduced by an independent service provider and is available for inspection upon request. To attempt to remedy the issue, the following have been replaced or inspected: thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator, hoses, water pump, oil filter adaptor/coolant bypass, fan, wiring and other associated electrical components. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms of the problem prior to the system failure. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. I have attempted contacting Chrysler several times and have been given the run-around regarding a safety recall that matches the symptoms, year, make, and model of my vehicle and have been told that my vehicle's VIN is not part of the recall and that there is no way to get it evaluated and added to the recall. I am unable to upload the repair invoices I have amassed so far with this issue at this time, but can furnish them at a later date if required.
The vehicle engine just stops while driving. Theis is the second time this has happened. The first time, the fule pump was replaced, plus the starter. That was only 6 months ago. This time it was towed home, (97) miles. It sat for over an hour waiting for the tow truck, tried to start several times, but would not start. after the tow truck dropped it off, in the driveway, it started right up! This is a vary unsafe problem with this vehicle. I have read many such posts as mine concerning this make and model of Van
Engine shuts off while driving down expressway and randomly just shuts off. Very dangerous and someone is going to get killed. Dodge/Chrysler needs to do sometime about this.
The TIPM has failed. It causes the fuel pump to randomly engage and drain the battery. It drained so low the key fob would not work and I needed a locksmith to get inside the vehicle to pop the hood. Our van has been at Lynwood Dodge since February 2022. it took over a month to diagnose and now they can not get the part. The estimate they have given me is around $2,300. That does not count two tows, a locksmith and replacing the fuel pump and a fuel related module around a month prior. The inspection was by the Dodge dealership. To my knowledge no manufacturer representative has checked this vehicle.
The TIPM unit is causing issues for my wife and kids there is a recall on other models with the same part that is causing issues why wouldn’t it be a safety issue for this model as well if it can cause the same safety concern
Vehicle just shutting off randomly while driving. No light came on , engine just stopped. Total safety issue when in busy traffic. Other years of same models have been recalled, but not 2012 dodge caravan. The problem was wireless control module that was very costly, but it could have been more costly if an accident occurred. Please look into this problem. From what I have seen on line, this has been a problem for many dodge customers.
2012 caravan staling/dyng while driving, at take off from stops n issues starting with it just dying time after time over n over. Getting codes for low input power for the system n tcm plus misfire codes n O2 sensor code. Had new battery n both battery n alternator check out perfect. All new fuses n relays n CB1. Still same issues with no starts, difficult starts, stalling n dying while driving months later
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that he was a mechanic, calling on the behalf of the customer. The contact stated that the customer informed him that there were issues starting the vehicle in which on some occasions the vehicle would not start without warning. The contact diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump integrated into the TIPM and the contacts on the fuel pump are not making good contact. As a result, the fuel pump fails intermittently, and the engine could stall. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (electrical system) as the same TIPM system installed in the customer's vehicle however the vehicle information was not a part of this recall. The contact stated that he contacted the manufacturer and was advised that the vehicle was not in any recalls. The failure mileage was 107,920.
Vehicle randomly shuts off while driving. No known cause or correlation between incidents. All electrical and power steering good off, without any warning. Happens multiple times daily
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle started. While driving 45 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact stated that there was a delay while restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the ignition node module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000. The consumer stated the vehicle only started half the time or a delayed response. The ignition module was replaced on 01/13/23.
After many tries, the van wouldn't start. Finally started. Brought it to the mechanic. They said the pressure in the fuel pump would drop 15-20 psi and then raise back to spec. They replaced the fuel pump. Van still wouldn't start. Mechanic tested and found the fuel pump was not getting power from the TIPM control module, due to a faulty fuel pump relay. Mechanic said Dodge had issued an external fuel pump relay part due to the issue occurring in many vehicles, however a safety recall had not been issued. Mechanic installed the part and the van starts now. Seems like the fuel pump issue was known by Dodge and should be covered in a safety recall as the TIPM control module used is faulty. Instead of a safety recall, Dodge issued an external relay part to fix the faulty part, but then didn't cover the cost of it for its customers.
THE TIPM FAILED, THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED WITH A MECHANIC. IT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAR'S FUEL PUMP KEEPS RUNNING EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY CAUSE A FIRE AND BURN MY HOUSE DOWN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS ARE RECALLED. I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON RECALL. WITH THIS BEING A KNOW PROBLEM, ALL VIN'S SHOULD BE ON RECALL. THIS MAKES YOUR CAR UNUSABLE AND IF THE CAR CUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC, A REAL SAFETY CONCERN.
The vehicle was inspected and seemed fined when purchased. However my engine shut down on the interstate almost causing me wreck with my children. The vehicle has been diagnosed and the problem was the engine, however I only had it for two weeks and I can’t afford $700 plus dollars and even though I have a warranty on the engine, the warranty company says it’s not covered. I seen that the temperature hand had moved from the middle to hot, but then it moved all the way to cool.
It refuses to start. Light comes on the dash for the throttle body and when fuses were tested it was found that the TIPMs power cuts out. Which led to a research and found online that a recall on that exact issue/part was for certain 2011-2012 models. I called my local dodge dealership and was told that my van didn't fall under that recall because it was VIN specific. If my 2012 Dodge grand caravan is having those issues, why is it not under the recall. This car is my main transportation for myself and my family. I have 5 school aged kids that rely on this vehicle for transportation everyday. I NEED this to be taken care of as soon as possible, please.
The car shutoff on me while I was driving home. It shut off on the bridge while I was driving home and wouldn't start for 30minutes. It finally started up and I made it home but the next morning it wouldn't start up at all. I got it jumped and took it to midas and they checked everything and said it is a computer issue. I called dodge d they told me $180 just to look at it. I see all these comments about the same issue and I don't understand why there is not a recall for this problem!!!
Passenger side active head rest deployed while the car was parked without a rear end collision. No SRS light or anything. Unable to reset the headrest and no active recalls for the car even though there is an active lawsuit out of Florida about the same issue. See https://www.classaction.org/news/class-action-hundreds-of-thousands-of-dodge-jeep-chrysler-vehicles-equipped-with-defective-active-head-restraints#embedded-document We will be contacting the dealer in the morning to see if we can get the headrest replaced free of charge but unless there is a investigation and force recall by you i am afraid the dealer will not provide us with a fix without charging us an arm and a leg. I am afraid to drive the car now under the suspicion that the driver side headrest may blow at any point leaving me with either a crash or injury to my head.
I was driving and the vehicle stalled out. Could have been hit if someone was right behind me. At first the car would keep turning over trying to start and it would after awhile, then lead to going out to the car and the battery completely drained. I had to replace a whole battery and alternator and it is still draining the battery (fuel pump rely). I don't see why there hasn't been a recall to fix this with as many complaints as there are online.
Engine shut off while driving down highway. No warning alarms. I managed to pull off highway. Vehicle started back up with no problems. Wife is now afraid to drive it.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the air conditioning independently turned off with the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle started to lose motive power as he began to pull off to the shoulder of the highway. The contact stated that another unknown warning light illuminated and the vehicle shut-off. The contact pulled over and saw black smoke coming from the engine. After opening the hood, there was more smoke coming from the engine. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine had caught fire due to a defective oil pump. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that an inspector would be sent out to perform an investigation. The vehicle remained in the possession of the mechanic. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
WHEN TURNING THE KEY OVER TO START THE VEHICLE IT WILL KEEP TURNING OVER BUT NOT CRANK AND IT WILL NOT STOP TURNING OVER UNTIL YOU SWITCH THE KEY IN OFF POSITION. ALSO, AT TIMES THE VAN WILL STALL WHILE RUNING AND SHUT OFF. SO FAR IN PARKED POSITION BUT I AM AFRAID IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE FUEL PUMP WILL KEEP RUNING AFTER THE IGNITION HAS BEEN SHUT OFF AND THE KEY TAKEN OUT. THIS RUNS THE BATTERY DEAD AND WILL LEAVE YOU SITTING.
MY DOORS ARE UNLOCKING BY THEMSELVES AFTER I LOCKED THEM. SEAT BELT WARNING GOING OFF WHEN SEAT BELT IS ENGAGED.VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WITH DOOR LOCKS AND IN MMOTION FOR SEAT BELT WARNING GOING OFF.
MY 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN 3.6L SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE IN TRAFFIC AND ON LOCAL ROADS. THERE IS NO WARNING. IT WILL RESTART. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR 2008-2010 CARAVAN, BUT OBVIOUSLY IT NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE
While driving 55 MPH on the highway all the lights on the dashboard began flashing and the vehicle lost ALL power - No power steering, no brakes, no engine, nothing. Luckily I was going uphill in the mountains without any traffic and was able to eventually stop. Had there been a vehicle behind me, the results could have been fatal. The vehicle was towed to a nearby trusted shop. They are saying it needs a whole new engine. The problem is, even with a replacement engine, this could happen again with a new/rebuilt Chrysler/Dodge engine. Keep reading please. In researching, I found that this is a known issue with this and other Chrysler/Dodge models. There was a previous Class Action Suit in California settled regarding this issue that required all plaintiffs to file before December 2018. Sadly, I did not purchase the vehicle until 2019 and this issue did not occur until 2021. I'm hoping there is some way to make Chrysler/Dodge accept responsibility for this through a recall or another class action suit as I have read many complaints online regarding this issue. How many people have to die before somebody does something about this?
STALLS WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNING OR MEDICATION SUCH S A SOUND OR SMELL. CAN SIT WITH ENGINE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTS UP AGAIN. STALLS AT RANDOM TIMES, INCONSISTENTLY. MAY GO WEEKS BEFORE HAPPENS AGAIN HAPPENS IN CITY, ON HIGHWAYS, ETC.
VAN RANDOMLY DOES NOT START/DIES. BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED FIXED ISSUE FOR A DAY OR TWO THEN STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. HAS BEEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ON COMPUTER. TOOK TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP REPLACED KEY FOB AND REPROGRAMMED WCM TESTED OK. BROUGHT IT HOME, NEXT DAY ISSUE HAD RETURNED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES. USUALLY THE TIPM. SAYS THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THAT HAD BEEN OMITTED. THIS COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS/HAZARDOUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AGAIN FOR THE RECALL. OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE IF SO MANY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD RECONSIDER THIS RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE THE THE VEHICLE STALLING OUT.
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY. AT THAT TIME WE LOSE POWER BREAKS AND POWER STEERING. MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE ALMOST IN A COLLISION DUE TO THIS. IT HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES NOW AND HAS NO PROBLEM RESTARTING AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK.
MY VAN CUT OFF IN THE DRIVEWAY, THANKFULLY I WAS PARKED AND WILL NOT TURN OVER OR CRANK BACK UP. WE HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME,, WE COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE!!! THERE IS A RED LIGHT BLINKING LIGHT UNDER THE NEUTRAL. I AM READING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. MY VAN IS A HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE VAN FOR MY DAUGHTER AND THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME FROM CELEBRATING HER BIRTHDAY AND HAD HER, MY 82 YEAR OLD GRANNY, MY WIFE AND MYSELF. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND IT IS GIVING A CODE U1197 THAT'S A SECURITY CODE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!!! THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPLAINTS
WHILE DRIVING AFTER TAKING A LEFT TURN, IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND THE RPMS WENT DOWN AND STOPPED DRIVING. THE DASHBOARD WAS STILL LIT NORMALLY. TURNED CAR OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART.
DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION. MECHANISM HAS FAILED AND MANUAL UNLOCK DOES NOT WORK. DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED.
WHILE DRIVING MY VAN, I ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT ON A CITY STREET, WHEN EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN ON ME. ALL OF MY DASHBOARD LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I HAD NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, IT WAS FRIGHTENING! I DID HAVE HEADLIGHTS, FLASHERS, I COULDN'T ACCESS THE SIDE DOORS TO GE MY CANE OUT. MY BACK GATE WOULDN'T OPEN EITHER SO I COULD GET MY ROLLERATOR AND WALK TO THE BUSINESS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET TO. I HAD TO HAVE MY VAN TOWED AND WAS TOLD IT'S MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO BRING MY AWARENESS TO THIS ISSUE, FOR IF I WAS ON 95, MY MAIN HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED, I WOULD BE DEAD ALONG WITH MY SON. ATTACHED IS THE DASHBOARD, BUT THE CENTER BOTTOM RED LIGHT WAS FLASHING ON AND OFF. I'M TOLD IT'S MY SECURITY SYSTEM LIGHT
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AND LOSE POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING ITS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SO FAR ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT
BOUGHT THIS 2012 DODGE CARAVAN 1 MONTH AGO. LAST WEEK IT STALLED TWICE MID DRIVING, ONCE WHILE SLOWING DOWN NEARING A STOP LIGHT AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO FIND A LARGE ENOUGH SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ON AND NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, WONDERING WHAT WE CAN DO TO FIX IT/SHOULD THIS BE RECALLED BEFORE LIVES ARE PUT AT RISK? NOT MUCH CONFIDENCE IN OUR NEW VEHICLE.
A MONTH AGO WE NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATING/COOLING IS DEFECTIVE FROM FRONT TO BACK OF VAN. THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE WILL ONLY BLOW HOT AIR DESPITE THE SETTINGS. DRIVERS SIDE WILL BLOW AIR COLD OR HOT APPROPRIATELY BASED ON SETTING. UPON RESEARCHING THIS, I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING OCCURRING OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS WITH THE 2011 AND 2012 DODGE CARAVANS. I AM NOT SURE WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL!!!!
WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN AND THEN RESTART.THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS GOING 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT JUST SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE COST US OUR LIFE. I ALSO AM HAVING ISSUES WITH MY SLIDING DOORS. NEITHER ONE WILL LOCK, NOT WITH DOOR LOCK SWITCH, NOT WITH KEY FOB, NOT MANUALLY. UPON RESEARCHING, I HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 200 COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE.
ENGINE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. THIS IS HAPPENING ALMOST DAILY NOW, USUALLY WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED. WAS ACCELERATING INTO A TURN NEAR ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT 20MPH WHEN THIS MOST RECENT EVENT HAPPENED. THIS IS LIFE ENDANGERMENT.
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH MY FOOT SLIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE SURGED WITH AN AUDIBLE REVVING, AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RESULTING IN A COLLISION. IDLING OR NEAR IDLING IN COLD WEATHER SEEMS TO BE A FREQUENT ISSUE, BUT THIS IS THE ONLY TIME IT HAS NOT BEEN OVERRIDDEN BY APPLYING THE BRAKE.
MY LEFT DRIVER REAR PASSENGER DOOR QUIT WORKING ONE NIGHT. IT WORK THE NIGHT BEFORE, CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY. NOTHING. NO MANUAL UNLOCK, KEY UNLOCK, FOB UNLOCK. NOTHING UNLOCKS THIS DOOR.
SEAT BELT WARNING CHIME IS PERIODICAL ACTIVATED WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND SEAT BUCKLE IS ENGAGED.
VAN HAS FAILED TO TURN ON MULTIPLE TIMES, PARK TURN OFF VEHICLE AND IN AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES LATER IT WOULD NOT START. I REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY APPARENTLY AFTER GOING TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS THAT DIDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM WITH DIAGNOSTICS I FOUND OUT IT WAS NEITHER IT WAS A FAULTY TIPM. 6-8 MONTHS LATER STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR STALLING OUT AND HAVING AN ISSUE TURNING BACK ON. I HAVE STALLED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ON THE FREEWAY I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THE RECALL IS NOT FOR MY YEAR OF VEHICLE. PARTS FOR THIS ARE EXPENSIVE ALONG WITH LABOR. DODGE NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY CAR BEHIND ME WAS CLOSE AND MY VAN STALLED COULD OF GOT HURT OR KILLED AND SO COULD THE OTHER DRIVER. BRAKES NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AS WELL MORE THAN I'VE EVER HAD TO CHANGE THEM FOR ANY OTHER VEHICLE.
MY VAN WILL COMPLETELY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE NO KNOW REASONS, I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED AND THE MECHANIC CANNOT FIGURE WHAT'S WRONG. THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC FACTORS OF WHEN AND WHY IT CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING.
My wife and I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, my wife drives the car on a daily basis school runs, etc with our 4 kids. While driving the kids to school and stopped at a red light the vehicle suddenly with no warning lost all power and shutdown. My wife said she was able to restart it again right away, then just before she got home the car suddenly and again no warning shut down everything no power whatsoever she was unable to remove the key from the ignition. After attaching a battery pack we were able to get it restarted and drive home Thankfully no one was behind her at the time as it would most definetly have resulted in a crash. Since then this has occured several more times sometimes it will be a day or couple days but it will always just die with no warning, My wife refuses to drive the car now as both she and I are afraid for the kids and her safety. I have checked and fixed various items including a new battery, alternator and ASD relay all of which did not fix the issue. I see dodge has issued recalls for the ignition switch on previous years. I believe Dodge needs to look at the 2012 and fix whatever this issue is as I have saw numerous people experiencing the same issue. I am a father supporting my wife and 4 kids and cannot afford a bottomless pit of maybe its this/that. Dodge needs to step up it could be the difference of saving someones life.
VAN WON'T START. NO NOISE AT ALL WHEN I TURN THE KEY. THE SYMPTOM IS JUST LIKE TRYING TO START A CAR WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE, OR THERE'S NO SOUND AT ALL (THE VAN HAS ALWAYS BEEN Q ININ PARK). EVERYTHING ELSE POWERS UP, RADIO, WIPERS, LIGHTS ETC. THE BATTERY IS NEW AND THE ALTERNATOR IS GOOD. DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A NEW TIPM AND THE CAR STARTED FOR 1 WEEK AND DIED AGAIN. I'LL NEVER BUY AN AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE AGAIN. OWNED THE VAN FOR 1 MONTH AND PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES PREVIOUS TO THE LAST TWO TIMES WHEN THE VAN WOULDN'T START AT ALL.
AT ABOUT 93000 MILES THE LEFT REAR SLIDING DOOR STOP UNLOCKING AND LOCKING IT WAS STUCK CLOSED. FROM EVERYTHING I'VE HEARD THIS IS COMMON AND DODGE KNOWS ABOUT IT. THE COST TO REPLACE IS $1200 EACH SLIDING DOOR. IF YOU DO A GOOGLE SEARCH IT'S VERY COMMON AND DODGE DOESN'T WANT TO RECALL THESE CARS..
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle intermittently stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle with a faulty fuel pump relay for the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
MY KEY FOBIK IS ONLY SOMETIMES STARTING THE VAN WHICH WAS ALREADY CONCERNING, THEN WHILE DRIVING THE VAN JUST TURNED OFF. I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING AND APPARENTLY MANY OF THE YEARS PRIOR TO 2012 HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND THE 2012 HAS THE SAME IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER
THE AIR BAG ON THE RIGHT FRONT HAS CAME OUT AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE FUSE BOX NEED TO BE UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE DEALER MAKING IT LIKE THAT
WHILE SLOWING DOWN FROM 20 MPH TO MAKE TURN, ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CODES STORED.
WE BOUGHT THIS VAN USED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT DIES SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD REGARDLESS OF ANY CERTAIN FACTORS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS ONE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL. I AM A MOTHER OF 3 AND CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY UPWARDS OF 10,000$ TO REPLACE AN IGNITION IF THIS IS THE ISSUE, I AM NOT IN ANY WAY A MECHANIC BUT I HAVE READ/HEARD THAT IS MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM. DODGE, PLEASE DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO PUT THEIR FAITH IN YOUR COMPANY EVERY TIME THEY PUT THEIR FAMILIES IN YOUR VEHICLES AND RECALL THIS IMMEDIATELY!
COLD START ENGINE RATTLE FOR A FEW SECONDS.WHILE DRIVING VIBRATION IS FELT AT 1200 TO 1500 RPM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLES AND UPON RECONNECTING THE CABLES, THE VEHICLE OPERATED WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUES. THE CONTACT LEFT A VOICEMAIL WITH WALDORF DODGE RAM (2294 CRAIN HWY, WALDORF, MD 20601 (301) 638-9400) HOWEVER, THE DEALER HAD NOT RESPONDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
