TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT WHAT PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I WAS DRIVING AT 2 OR 3 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET AND THE CAR ACCELERATED WHEN I TOUCHED THE BRAKE. PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT CRASHED INTO THE CAR AHEAD, PUSHING IT INTO THE SECOND CAR AHEAD. EVENTUALLY THE RPMS DROPPED AFTER THE COLLISION. FAULT CODE SHOWED HEADLAMP MODULE (TIPM)
"TAKATA RECALL THE TIPM IN MY BRAND NEW DODGE GRAND CARVAN GAVE OUT AND CAUSED A FIRE IN MY STARTER WHICH CAUSED SMOKE TO COME OUT OF CARS ENGINE. BOUGHT CAR ON 4/20 ON 4/22 WITH 71 MILES ON IT WHILE TURNING A CORNER THE TIPM GAVE OUT CAUSING THE STARTER TO KEEP TURNING OVER AND MADE A HORRIBLE SCREECHING NOISE THEN WE TURNED CAR OFF AND CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND SHIMMY WHEN WE TRIED TO TURN CAR BACK ON IT WAS DEAD NOTHING WOULD TURN OVER. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR TOWING.
