BOTH SLIDING DOOR LOCKS HAVE FAILED
A LOUD BUZZ SOUND HAPPENS WHEN I LOCK MY VEHICLE OR WHEN MY DOOR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. WHEN IT LOCKS IT MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT OPEN. UFTRING CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (140 RADIO CITY DR, PEKIN, IL 61554, (309) 340-4594) STATED THAT THEY BELIEVED THE LOCKING MECHANISM WAS STUCK AND MENTIONED THAT THE CONTACT'S WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,260.
THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WITH DODGE!! - PURCHASED MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO AND THE TRANSMITION IS GONE LESS THAN 1,000 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY. THEY WILL NOT BE HELPING ME AT ALL.. LISTEN TO HOW THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMER'S BELOW!
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK PREVENTING THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED. IT IS STUCK SHUT AND WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY, ELECTRONICALLY, OR WITH THE FOB.
TRANSMISSION PUMP AT ABOUT 20-30 MPH THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY OR AT 40MPH IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL AND REVS TO 4000 RPMS BUT THE SPEED DOES NOT INCREASE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY WIFE NOTICED THE VAN COASTED TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHILE IN DRIVE. A LOUD WHINE COULD BE HEARD WHEN SHE ACCELERATED PASSED THE TRAFFIC LIGHT ALMOST LIKE A OLD POWER STEERING PUMP GOING BAD. THE VAN BARELY MADE IT TO THE PARKING LOT. THAT NIGHT WE TRIED TO SEE IF THE VAN WAS DRIVABLE GOING HOME. THE SAME LOUD SOUND HAPPENED UNDER ACCELERATION THE VAN WOULD BARELY MOVE AGAIN AND WHEN IT FINALLY CAUGHT IT LAUNCHED THE VAN FORWARD. LEAVING THE PARKING LOT THE VAN NO LONGER WOULD ENGAGE IN DRIVE AND COASTED TO ANOTHER PARKING LOT THAT'S WHERE WE HAD THE VAN TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT DETECTED AN ODOR OF HOT BRAKES. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE ODOR WAS VERY STRONG AROUND THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE ASSEMBLY ALONG WITH WHITE SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH REAR ROTORS WERE VERY HOT AND THE SPRINGS THAT RELEASE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE RUSTED OUT, WHICH PREVENTED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FROM BEING RELEASED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
THE TRANSMISSION HAD ZERO KNOWN ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN LOSING POWER AND SHIFTING AGGRESSIVELY. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND MOVE ONE OUT OF EVERY FIVE ATTEMPTS. THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A BULLETIN HAS BEEN PUBLISHED ABOUT THIS ISSUE YET NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. AT ONE POINT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER GOING UPHILL AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THIS ISSUE POSES A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY CONSIDER THE PROBLEM DEVELOPED FROM A KNOWN ISSUE AND INSIDE 24 HOURS. THE DOOR LOCKS ON BOTH SLIDING PASSENGER DOORS FAILED. THERE IS NO MANUAL LOCK TO BE ABLE TO INGRESS AND EGRESS THE VEHICLE. IT STARTED WITH AN OBNOXIOUS BUZZING SOUND WHEN THE LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTON WAS PRESSED. IT QUICKLY THEN STOPPED WORKING AT ALL SO THAT PASSENGERS HAVE TO CLIMB IN THROUGH THE REAR. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE OR VERY SMALL CHILDREN. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN AN EMERGENCY AND HIGHLY ANNOYING TO SAY THE LEAST IN DAY TO DAY USAGE. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS JUST TWO YEARS OLD! NOT ACCEPTABLE! JUST WAIT UNTIL SOMEBODY IS TRAPPED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT LEADS TO DEATH OR SEVERE INJURY. THERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE A MANUAL WAY TO ENTER AND EXIT A VEHICLE.
SOMETIMES, THE ENGINE WON'T SHUT DOWN AFTER BEING DRIVEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED, AND PUT INTO PARK, THEN TURN THE KEY OFF, THE VEHICLE IS STILL RUNNING. IT'LL RUN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THEN CUT OFF. I'VE TRIED TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN AND TURN IT ON AND THEN OFF, VAN STILL RUNS. I'VE UNHOOKED THE BATTERY TO SEE IF IT WOULD RESET ITSELF. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN A LOCKED POSITION. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH THE FOB OR MANUALLY. I HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH THIS HAZARDOUS SITUATION FOR THREE YEARS, ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONED. I WENT TO A STORE, GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE DOOR WORKED, AND UPON RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE THE DOOR WOULDN'T BUDGE. AT THE TIME I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SEE HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX AND THEY WOULDN'T QUOTE ME A PRICE SO I NEVER TOOK IT IN. UPON SOME QUICK RESEARCH ONLINE RECENTLY I REALIZED THIS ISN'T AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE. APPARENTLY MANY DODGE CARAVAN OWNERS HAVE HAD, SPECIFICALLY THE LEFT DOOR, GET STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION PERMANENTLY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
AT 60,500 MILES WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH THE TRANSMISSION LOST HYDRAULIC POWER AND WE WERE FORCED TO GET TOWED FROM THE HIGHWAY TO A LOCAL AAMCO TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING NO HYDRAULIC PRESSURE AND THE MECHANIC THEORIZED THAT THE HYDRAULIC PUMP HAD CEASED AND WAS NO LONGER PROVIDING ADEQUATE FLUID TO THE GEARS. THERE IS A RECALL 16V461000 THAT IS FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM, YET DESPITE FALLING IN THE RANGE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES MANUFACTURING DATES, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD NO RECOURSE BECAUSE OUR SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE LIST. RIGHT CAR, RIGHT MODEL, RIGHT YEAR, RIGHT MANUFACTURING DATE RANGE, EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL, AND YET WE ARE NOT ON THE LIST?? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY.
JACKING THE CAR USING THE MANUFACTURERS JACK INSTALLED AT THE POINTS INDICATED BY THE MANUAL CAUSED THE METAL RAIL TO SPLIT. TRIED THREE DIFFERENT PLACES ALL WITHIN 6 INCHES AND EACH TIME THE JACKING POINT SPLIT THE METAL. METAL WOULD BREAK AFTER LIFTING THE CAR AND WEIGHT WAS ON THE JACK. THE JACK WOULD HOLD THE CAR BUT THE CAR DROPPED AND MOVED EACH TIME THE METAL BROKE. PHOTOS SHOW THE BROKEN METAL BUT NOT CLEARLY BECAUSE I SPRAY PAINTED IT TO PREVENT RUST. BREAKS ARE THREE UP FRONT AND ONE IN THE BACK. ALL AT THE JACKING POINTS.
EVERY TIME THE ELECTRICAL DOOR LOCKS ON THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR IS LOCKED WHILE EITHER DRIVING OR USING THE FOB THERE IS A VERY LOUD BUZZING SOUND. THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS IS MESSED UP AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND NOT COST THE OWNER ABOUT 1500$. *TR
THE ELECTRIC LOCKS ON BOTH OF THE SLIDING REAR DOORS HAVE A BUZZ WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOORS, ALSO WHEN UNLOCKING THEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VENTS WOULD BLOW OUT HOT AIR. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE INDICATOR OFF IN ODER FOR THE HOT AIR TO STOP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED WHILE IN MOTION WITH THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE KOLOSSO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT (2701 W COLLEGE AVE, APPLETON, WI 54914) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT THE ACTUATOR AND DOOR LATCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 18,205.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHEN DRIVING AND/OR STOPPED AT LIGHT.
WHEN I COLLAPSE THE SECOND ROW SEATS IN MY 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, THE HEAD REST SNAP DOWNWARD, EXTREMELY FAST WITH A POWERFUL FORCE. I AM REQUIRED TO PULL ON A HANDLE ON THE DOORSIDE OF THE SEAT, WHICH BEGINS THE AUTOMATIC PROCESS OF THE FOLDING OF THE CHAIR, TO EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO STORE THE SEAT IN THE FLOOR OF THE VAN, FOR CARGO SPACE. THE FIRST TIME I ATTEMPTED TO STORE THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER SEAT, ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, I PLACED MY LEFT HAND ON THE INSIDE, UPPER PART OF THE SEAT, WHERE YOUR RIGHT SHOULDER MIGHT BE IF YOU ARE SITTING IN THE SEAT. WHEN I RAISED THE HANDLE TO COLLAPSE THE SEAT, THE HEAD REST, SLAMMED DOWN ON MY LEFT ARM. IT WAS PAINFUL, IT FELT LIKE MY LEFT ARM MAY HAVE BEEN FRACTURED, AND IT WAS BADLY BRUISED FOR MORE THAN A MONTH. THE NEXT TIME I WAS CLIPPED BY THE HEAD REST, I WAS PULLING UP ON THE HANDLE AND AT THE SAME TIME INSTINCTUALLY REMEMBERED WHAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, AND IN AN ATTEMPTED TO PULL MY ARM OUT OF HARM'S WAY, MY LEFT WRIST WAS SMASHED UNDER THE FORCE OF THE HEADREST. MY MOST RECENT INJURY FROM THE HEAD REST MALFUNCTION, WAS A BASH TO MY HEAD WHILE COLLAPSING THE PASSENGER SIDE SECOND ROW SEAT. I WANTED TO TALK TO SOME ONE AT DODGE ABOUT THIS, BUT I WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A CONTACT FOR THESE MATTERS. I AM GLAD I FOUND YOUR SITE. BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH 35,982 MILES. A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE VAN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CHANGED THE OIL AND SPARK PLUGS. THE LIGHT STAYED ON AND CONTINUED TO RUN ROUGH. WE CONTACTED DODGE MULTIPLE TIMES TO BE TOLD MY CAR WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY. WE TOOK MY CAR TO BE PUT ON THE COMPUTER AND FOUND A FEW SMALL ISSUES. I BOUGHT A FEW PARTS FROM DODGE AND AGAIN TALKED TO THEM ABOUT THE WARRANTY. WAS TOLD IT STOPPED AT 30,000 MILES. TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD I HAVE LOW COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER TWO. I CALLED DODGE TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH THEY WOULD CHARGE ME TO FIX IT. TO FIND OUT MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD JUST WENT OVER THE MILEAGE OF 60,000. SO I WAS LIED TO AND MY CAR IS STILL MESSED UP. I HAVE READ OVER AND OVER ABOUT THE MOTORS HAVING ISSUES AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE PASSING GEAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT A RAPID SPEED. THE CONTACT HAD TO KEEP PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL. ALSO, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR ON OUR 2016 DODGE CARAVAN CANNOT BE OPENED. IT STOPPED WORKING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN TWO YEARS. IT CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR PASSENGERS TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE QUICKLY IN AN EMERGENCY. WE WERE TOLD THE INTERIOR LATCH WAS BROKEN AND THAT IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE TO FIX. I BELIEVE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AS A NUMBER OF OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK PAIN, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CEDAR BLUFF TOWING COMPANY OF KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE. CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP OF LENOIR CITY, TENNESSEE WAS CONTACTED BY EMAIL ABOUT THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR LOCKS CAN JAM IN THE LOCKED POSITION MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED RANDOMLY TO EACH DOOR WITH NO KNOWN CAUSE. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM IF PASSENGERS CANT EGRESS IN AN EMERGENCY AND IT COSTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX.
ABOUT 3700 MILES THE A/C STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH R134A. PUT MY GAUGES ON VEHICLE WAY LOW ADD SOME STOP LEAK W/LEAK DETECTOR. FOUND THAT THE VALVE IN REAR A/C LEAKING. AROUND SAME TIME DRIVER REAR SLIDING DOOR STOPPED UNLOCKING AND OPENING, THE CHILD LOCK LEVER MOVED BY ITSELF. SO I MOVED IT BACK TO DISABLE AND THAT WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEAK. THEN IT STARTED TO MAKE A NOISE LIKE GEARS WERE JAMMED OR RUBBING TOGETHER AND THEN IT JUST STOPPED. DORR REMAINS UNLOCKED NOW W/NO SOUND FROM ACTUATOR. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO SLIP AND LOSE POWER.
SLIDING DOOR BEHIND DRIVER IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE REAR PASSENGERS. IN ANOTHER VAN I RAN OVER A PIECE OF STEEL ON THE HIGHWAY AND PUT A HOLE IN THE GAS TANK. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SMELLING GAS ALL REAR PASSENGERS WAS ABLE TO GET OUT ON BOTH SIDES. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER DODGE VANS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE MIDDLE BENCH SEAT IS NOT WIDE ENOUGH TO SAFELY HOLD AN INFANT CAR SEAT EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A LATCH SYSTEM FOR THE CAR SEAT. THE INFANT CAR SEAT HANGS OFF THE SEAT AND IS NOT SAFELY SUPPORTED BY THE SEAT AN CHRYSLER HAS NO SAFE ALTERNATIVE TO FIX THE SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO SINCE IT'S A BENCH SEAT YOU CANNOT USE THE SEATBELT THAT CROSSES THE WALKWAY FOR ANY CAR SEAT BECAUSE THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE A RESOLUTION FOR. THESE ISSUES ARE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, AND IN MOTION ON ANY CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY, TURNING, OR TRAVELING STRAIGHT. CHRYSLER DOES NOT CARE IF PARENTS CAN SAFELY SECURE A CAR SEAT OF ANY KIND IN THEIR VEHICLES. INSTEAD THEY TELL YOU TO READ THE MANUAL FOR THE CAR SEAT AND FOR THE VEHICLE YOU PURCHASED AND THAT'S IT.
VEHICLE AT 36500 MILES THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUZZING WHEN STARTING OR LOCKING VEHICLE. UPON VISITING THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY 300 TO 500 TO REPAIR. THE FULL DODGE WARRANTY ENDED AT 36000 MILES. THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. AUTOMATICALLY THIS IS A SERIOUS FLAW AND RISK TO OCCUPANT WHILE DRIVING IF THE DOORS ARE NOT VERIFIED MANUALLY LOCKED. THIS IS A RISK FOR CHILDREN, IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, LOCATED IN THE CENTER SEATS OF THE VEHICLE WHILE OPERATING.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, HAD TO APPLY BRAKES HARD, THEN HAD TO PUMP THE EXCELLERATOR AND THEN FLOORE IT TO GET GAS TO ENGINE TO RESUME MOMENTUM. AFTER THAT IT DOES IT DOES THIS INTERMEDIATELY, MAYBE FOR QUITE AWHILE THE SAME DAY AND NOT AGAIN FOR WEEKS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AND THERE ARE TIMES THAT THE RPM'S HAVE JUMPED UP TO 4 AND ALMOST 5, THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A RACE CAR AND LITTLE MOVEMENT AND THEN QUICKLY LUNGES FORWARD, AT OTHER SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS SHIFTED AND YOU STILL HAVE NOT INCREASED IN SPEED. THIS IS MY 3 TOWN & COUNTRY MINI VAN. HOWEVER THE LAST TWO I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE SEAT BELTS GETTING CAUGHT UP IN THE SEAT BELT RETRACTION SYSTEM AND EVENTUALLY BEGIN TO TEAR. THE SEATS HAVE STOW-N-GO, A MECHANICAL FEATURE THAT FOLDS THE SEAT INTO THE FLOOR FOR STORAGE. THE LEVER TO ENGAGE STOW-N-GO AND THE LEVER TO ENGAGE RECLINE ARE THE SAME LEVER, AND THERE IS NO WARNING SIGN ON THE SEAT, IN THE VEHICLE, OR IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. PURCHASED THIS BRAND NEW SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. DROVE 8,000 MILES TO AND FROM WORK. TWICE WITHIN THE PAST WEEK THE VAN HAS COMPLETELY JUST TURNED OFF ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE VAN JUST TURNED OFF. IT'S AS IF SOMEONE WERE TO GRAB THE KEYS AND TURN IT OFF. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED AND KEPT DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE RPMS BEGAN JUMPING TO 5 AND 6 AND THE CAR WAS JERKING. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS. WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS 85-90 DEGREES, OUR VAN HAS A COMPUTER GLITCH. IT HAS OCCURRED BOTH WHEN FIRST STARTING THE ENGINE OR GOING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEGINNING JULY 2016. THE WIPERS COME ON AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF. THERE ARE NO GAGES ON THE DASH AND THE DISPLAY READS "NO BUS." THE TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. THERE IS NO RADIO, A/C OR HEATER, AND SOME OF THE WINDOWS WON'T WORK. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TELL HOW FAST WE ARE GOING WITH NO GAGES. THIS PROBLEM DID HAPPEN ONE TIME AS WE WERE GOING 75 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS TRULY AN UNSAFE SITUATION WITH NO TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKE LIGHTS AND NO WAY TO KNOW OUR ACTUAL SPEED. THIS LASTED FOR ABOUT 40 MILES UNTIL THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DROPPED. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 6 TIMES FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 40 DAYS IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS. THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ERROR ONE TIME FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS BUT THE PROBLEM RESOLVED BEFORE THE TECH COULD GET THE SCANNER HOOKED UP. THE TIPM AND ANOTHER MODULE HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE HAS CLOSED OUR CLAIM, SAYING THAT BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS COOLER, THEY CANNOT DO ANY MORE. OUR CONCERN IS THAT THE PROBLEM WILL ARISE AGAIN WHEN THE WEATHER WARMS UP NEXT SUMMER.
SHORTLY AFTER GETTING MY VAN I FELT THAT IT DID NOT HANDLE PROPERLY. I EXPERIECED HYDRO PLANNING WHEN BRAND NEW TO ME. TRACKING UPON ACCELERATION WAS PORE. VERY POOR TRACKING AT ACCELERATION GOING INTO A TURN AT START UP SPEED. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE HAD BEEN NO COMPLAINTS TO DATE. BY SUGGESTION, I PAID $100 FOR AN ALIGNMENT. THE ALIGNMENT DID NOT HELP WITH THIS MATTER. ANY TYPE OF PRECIPITATION AFFECTS THE TRACKING OF THE VEHICLE. ANY PAINTED LINES ON THE ROAD AFFECT TRACTION. IT SEEMS THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL IS THE PROBLEM, OR MAYBE THE YOKOHAMA AVID TIRES ARE THE PROBLEM. WHEN I ACCELERATE IN ANY GIVEN SITUATION MY TIRES WILL SPIN OR TRACTION CONTROL SLIPS BACK AND FORTH AS I CROSS OVER ANY REFLECTIVE SURFACES (LINES ON ROAD, OR STOP STRIPS, OR CROSSWALKS). I HAVE HAD TO LEARN TO STOP ON ROAD SURFACE, PRIOR TO CROSSING ANY DIFFERENTIATED SURFACES. RIGHT TURN ON RED IS MOSTLY FORBIDDEN, AS I MAY SPIN MY WAY OUT IN FRONT OF FASTER MOVING TRAFFIC. 7.5K MILES ON VEHICLE, MOVING FROM A PARKING SPOT THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE RACK AND PINION COMPLETELY SNAPPED. THE VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE. HAD MY FAMILY AND MYSELF BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED WOULD'VE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
