EACH AND EVERY TIME MY VEHICLE IS LOCKED OR UNLOCKED IT MAKES A HIGH PITCHED BUZZING SOUND. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHEN DOORS ARE OPENED AFTER THE DOORS HAVE BEEN LOCKED AS PART OF THE AUTOMATIC SECURITY WHEN IT HAS BEEN OPERATED OR WHEN THEY WERE LOCKED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY THE WHOLE TIME.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AND IS IN THE UNLOCK POSITION. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE. HAVE 4 KIDS SO THIS VERY UNSAFE/ HUG INCONVENIENCE. DEALER WANTS A UNREASONABLE AMOUNT. FIGURED THEY WOULD FIX THIS BY NOW. SAME PROBLEM IN OTHER DODGE VAN I HAVE HAD. *TR
THE VAN JUST SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO CODES PULLING UP. IT JUST TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I'M GREATFUL I WASN'T ON THE FREEWAY OR TRAVELING AT A FAST SPEED. PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT FINE AND DROVE FOR AWHILE AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS OF THESE VAN'S JUST SHUTTING DOWN....IT SHOULD REALLY BE LOOKED INTO FOR THIS YEAR NAKE AND MODEL CONSIDERING THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR OTHER YEARS MAKES AND MODELS FOR THE SAME REASON. HOPEFULLY NO ONE HAS TO DIE BEFORE THIS IS LOOKED INTO. THERE IS NO WARNING , NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO CODES. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. LATCH WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY UNLOCK. SAFETY HAZARD AS NOBODY CAN GET OUT THAT BACK DOOR. 2017 CARAVAN GT 66K MI
THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER SLIDER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, IT LITERALLY JUST STOP WORKING. NONE OF THE BUTTONS IN THE CAR WORK TO OPEN IT OR THE KEY FOB. THE DOOR IS STUCK IN THE "LOCKED" POSITION. I READ ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES FROM HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE. THIS NEEDS RECALLED AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO GET MY KIDS OUT OF THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY?!?! *TR
SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT UNLOCK AND THEREFORE WILL NOT OPEN. NOTHING HAPPENED, JUST STOPPED WORKING. CANNOT UNLOCK IT USING ANY OF THE BUTTONS AND CANNOT MANUALLY UNLOCK IT. VAN IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR VAN. MAY CREATE UNSAFE SITUATION IF UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT THAT DAMAGES OTHER DOORS. *TR
LOCK ACTUATOR IS STUCK IN THE UNLOCK POSITION WHICH MEANS MY KIDS COULD OPEN THE DOOR MANUAL WHILE DRIVING. DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AT ALL ON THAT DOOR. ONLY NOTICE IT TODAY WHEN MY SON TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE THAT CAR WAS LOCKED AND HAD SET OFF THE ALARM. SO I HAVE NO IDEA ON WHEN THIS PROBLEM ORIGINATED. *TR
THE OIL COOLER WHICH HOLDS THE OIL TEMPERATURE SWITCH AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AND OIL FILTER HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND SEALED TO ALUMINUM INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH BOLTS AND RUBBER O-RINGS. THIS PART IS CRACKED AND LEAKING OIL AT TOP END ON A HOT ENGINE; OIL LEAKS DOWN ONTO BOTTOM OF TRANSMISSION AND ONTO ROADWAY/DRIVEWAY. CAR HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES. FROM LOOKING AT YOU TUBE VIDEOS AND GOOGLE SEARCHES, I FOUND MANY CASES OF THIS. HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY RECALL HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN MADE FOR SOMETHING SO POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART. EXPENSES TO REPAIR SHOULD BE PAID FOR BY CHRYSLER/DODGE IF RECALL COMES AFTER US OWNERS SPEND THE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO SO FOR PARTS AND LABOR. ENGINE LEAKS WHEN RUNNING WHETHER PARKED OR MOVING ON STREET OR HIGHWAY. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. HAD TO GET A NEW ACTUATOR. ONE MONTH LATER, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WAS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. OFF TO GET ANOTHER NEW ACTUATOR.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR WAS INOPERABLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT YET NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,870.

BOTH SLIDING DOORS ARE STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION. CANNOT BE OPENED WITH KEYFOB, MANUALLY, OR WITH THE OVERHEAD BUTTON IN THE CABIN. THE DOORS MAKE A CLICKING NOISE EVEN WHEN THEY TRY TO OPEN.
THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WAS STUCK SHUT IN THE LOCKED POSITION FOR 3 MONTHS. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME ALMOST $1000 TO BASICALLY REPLACE MOST OF THE DOOR, THIS DIAGNOSIS WAS DONE WHILE DOOR WAS STUCK SHUT. I FINALLY GOT IT OPEN BY PUSHING ON THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND PRESSING THE KEY FAB UNLOCK AT THE SAME TIME (SOMETHING I READ ON THE INTERNET). NOW IT OPENS AND CLOSES, BUT MAKES A BUZZING, CRUNCHING SOUND WHEN THE AUTO LOCK KICKS IN WHEN DRIVING, AND PERIODICALLY MAKES THE NOISE FOR NO REASON. ONLY BEEN 2 DAYS SINCE IT WOULD OPEN AND WAITING FOR IT TO BECOME STUCK OR ANOTHER ISSUE. SURE IS LOUD.
VAN MAY OR MAY NOT START, OR SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3 TIMES AND CHANGED AN ALTERNATOR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT OTHER VANS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR A NON START, BUT FOR SOME REASON MY FAN ISN'T INCLUDED. ALSO MY UCONNECT DOES NOT WORK. IT DOESN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE THAT I HAVE BLUE TOOTH IN THE CAR. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS VAN AT ALL, I GOT A LEMON!
THE VAN STALLS WHILE RUNNING AND SOMETIMES WON'T START WHILE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER. WHILE DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS DIM AND FLICKER WHILE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE NORMAL. I CHECKED MY BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR AND THE MECHANIC TESTED THEM AND SAID THEY WERE ALL GOOD. THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO GO TO THE MANUFACTURER AND CHECK FOR RECALLS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO.
Beginning at about 75,000 miles (1st lock actuator), my lock actuators seized and rendered the backseat passenger doors unusable. The second lock actuator on the passenger side followed at about 95,000 miles. This is extremely unsafe, because if I have my children as passengers, they must climb in through the back hatch of the minivan. In addition, passengers cannot exit the vehicle from their seats in case of a wreck. Dodge has issued an extended warranty recently, but I am not eligible because my vehicle is now over 100,000 miles. (It was under 100,000 miles at the time of malfunction, but there was no extended warranty or recall at the time.) This common issue with the Dodge Grand Caravan is extremely unsafe, and all defective lock actuators should be replaced/repaired as part of a recall. A warranty that excludes certain users is unsafe.
MY AC WENT OUT ONLY IN THE FRONT 1/3 OF THE VAN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND STARTED TO HAVE A SLIGHT BUZZING SOUND UNDER MY DASH A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHEN ANY ELECTRICAL DEVICE IS PLUGGED INTO AN OUTLET OR THE AC IS TURNED ON. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STRUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. ONCE CLOSED IT IS UNABLE TO OPEN. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN IT WITH THE FOB OR INSIDE UNLOCK BUTTON. *TR
2017 DODGE CARAVAN REAR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. IT WON'T OPEN OR UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY. IT WAS FINE WHEN I WENT TO BED THE NIGHT BEFORE. WENT TO PUT THE KIDS IN THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING IT WOULDN'T OPEN.
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCHED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WILL NOT LATCH. DOOR CAN NOT BE SHUT AND REMAIN LATCHED RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WAS REPAIRED ON 01/06/20
THE SLIDING BACK PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT OPEN WITH THE REMOTES. THEY ALSO LOCK UP AND CANNOT BE UNLOCKED OR EVEN OPENED MANUALLY. THIS IS A HUGE DANGER AS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY PASSENGERS CANNOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE.
WHILE STATIONARY, PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT RELIABLY OPEN; MANUALLY OR WITH KEYLESS ENTRY. KEY FOB DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE ACTUATOR TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. UNABLE TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED FROM INSIDE.

' CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY DIRECTOR, CLARENCE DITLOW' THE FUEL PUMP NOT TURNING OFF AND BURNING OUT THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING OR DEPLOYING RANDOMLY THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING THE STARTER CRANKS BUT WON'T START THE HORN GOING OFF AT RANDOM TIMES POWER WINDOWS NOT WORKING DOORS LOCKING OR UNLOCKING THEMSELVES AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 CHILDREN THE VAN STARTED ACTING UP. I WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT . MY LIGHTS DIDN'T WORK, NO TURN SIGNALS, WIPERS DIDN'T TURN OFF AND DOORS LOCKED AND COULDN'T UNLOCK THEM. IF WE WOULD OF BEEN HIT, WE COULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY WHILE WE WERE MOVING.
BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN AT TIMES FROM ANY SOURCE (IE. HANDLE, KEY, OR BUTTON ON UPPER DASH). WORKED FINE THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE DOOR WON'T OPEN. I AM WORRIED THAT IF SOMETHING WAS TO HAPPEN MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR.
THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK SHUT IN LOCKED POSITION. WE ARE UNABLE TO MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY UNLOCK. WE ALSO CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY. DOOR WAS WORKING PROPERLY WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS POINT.
THE AIR BAGS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON STAYS ON FOR DAYS SOMETIMES GOES OFF BUT KEEPS POPPING UP AND THE WARNING BELL COMES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ITS HAS AROUND 47000 MILESONLY
LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THERE'S ALSO LOSS OF POWERING STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. IT'S BEEN TAKEN TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP. I'M TOLD THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE THIS WEEK GOING TO WORK ON JANUARY 28 & 29, 2020.
ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE READER SAID IT WAS A P302, MISFIRE IN #2. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH AND SOMETIMES STALLS WHILE DRIVING. OTHER 2017 GRAND CARAVANS HAVE HAD A RECALL FOR A VERY SIMILAR REASON, BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE. ALSO THE COMPANY HAS EXTEND ITS ENGINE WARRANTY ON CYLINDER HEADS TO 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES ON 2012 CARAVANS WITH SAME ENGINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW THE WANT $3,600 TO FIX WHAT SEEMS TO BE A INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THAT ENGINE. NOT FAIR! 1 AFFECTED PRODUCT
MY REAR DOOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZ WHEN I UNLOCK IT AND APPARENTLY IT IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE IN THE CARAVAN AND WON'T OPEN FROM THE AUTOMATIC BUTTONS.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE RADIO JUST RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN. SCREEN GOES BLACK FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THEN RESTARTS ITSELF. ALL PRE-SAVED STATIONS ARE STILL THERE BUT IT'S ALMOST LIKE WE TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. HAPPENS QUITE A BIT - ABOUT ONCE A WEEK OR MORE.
I HAVE A 2017 DODGE CARAVAN ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I BOUGHT IT MY HAZARD LIGHTS STARTED ACTIVATING WHEN MY MIDDLE SLIDING DOORS WOULD OPEN. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT SAFETY FEATURE, WHILE BEING CONFUSED WHY IT HAD JUST STARTED HAPPENING 1 DAY. THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER MY LOCKS WOULD AND STILL MAKE A DISTRACTING BUZZING SOUND WHEN THE DOORS GET LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. IS THERE A SAFETY RECALL ON ANY OF THESE ISSUES?
Engine/Transmission: Transmission was replaced by Manufacture. P/T Not shifting into gear properly. Hard shifting into gear. Slow start climbing incline in hills, speeds up drastically when the car is starting to decline, knocking noise. Dash lights, odometer, and warning lights come on and off without warning. The car has to be turned on and off to make the odometer, dash lights and warning lights rest and work. Safety: 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan will suddenly stop while driving at 65--70 mph in traffic without notice. The vehicle is unable to be physically moved out of the drive gear or any gear. The vehicle has been inspected by Doge dealership and found nothing wrong several times. Transmission light is on. No warning lamps, or messages to tell the driver the vehicle will suddenly stop at a high rate of speed or any speed. All of the gauges including lights will turn off without any warning while driving at any speed. There is a burning smell. Started from 2019 to present date.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL BUT WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A SMALL OUT-OF-POCKET FEE ASSESSED AS A PART OF THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,484.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SLAMS REALLY HARD WHEN CLOSING WHILE ON A HILL AND THE SENSOR DOESNT STOP THE DOOR FROM SHUTTING. THE DOOR SLAMMED ON MY DAUGHTERS FOOT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVE FRONT FACING DOWNWARD.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BEING RIPPED AND SHREDDED BY A SHARP METAL PART OF THE SEAT FRAME THAT PROTRUDES INTO THE SIDE OF THE SEAT CUSHION. THE FRAME IS COVERED BY THE PLASTIC SEAT BASE.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle was shuddering, producing static electric shock, and the battery was overcharging. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System). The local dealer was contacted and was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact had an ongoing issue with the local dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 68,107.
I BOUGHT A 2017 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IN FEBRUARY 2019. DECEMBER 20, 2019 I WAS DRIVING HOME AND ALL OF MY DASH LIGHTS AND WARNINGS CAME ON, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON, AND THE ODOMETER AND GAS GAUGE WENT DOWN WHILE TURNING ONTO MY HOME STREET. . WE TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER LOOKING AND TESTING THINGS THEY SAID IT WAS THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER PANEL.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, HAD THE CAR FOR NOT EVEN ONE YEAR. THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. WE HAVE 2 LITTLE KIDS AND THIS WOULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND WE HAD TO GET OUR KIDS OUT QUICKLY.
THE BRAKE SWITCHES ON THESE VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION, KEEPING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THIS IS THE SAME WARNING IN THE RECALL FOR 2017 DODGE CARAVANS, YET MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO FIX. THE CURRENT RECALL SAYS " CHRYSLER (FCA US LLC) IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2017 DODGE CARAVAN AND JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES. THE BRAKE SWITCHES ON THESE VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION, KEEPING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND/OR ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED."
AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE OT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS BUT CANT SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING. ITS HAPPENED ALOT OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. NERVOUS THE AIRBAGS MIGHT DEPLOY FOR NO REASON.
I purchased the vehicle in February 2019 and within a year the passenger-side sliding door would not unlock and would not open. Through research, I learned it was the actuator that had gone out in the door. In November of 2021, the driver-side sliding door started making a grinding noise every time the doors were locked, indicating the actuator on that door was about to go out as well. Not having access to open the back doors of a minivan negates the benefits of driving a van, plus can cause a serious safety concern if individuals aren't able to exit the vehicle if needed.
