ON APRIL 28, 2009 I HAVE A TIRE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AN A WELL MAINTAINED PAVED HIGHWAY. SPECIFICALLY, I HAD A SIDEWALL FAILURE ON MY RIGHT REAR TIRE. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE TIRE I FOUND A "V" SHAPED FAILURE IN THE SIDEWALL OF ABOUT ONE HALF INCH. CLOSER EXAMINATION REVEALED THAT THE CHORDS IN THE TIRE WERE FRAYED AS OPPOSED TO BEING CUT CLEANLY. DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL 2011, I EXPERIENCED ANOTHER SIDEWALL FAILURE WITH THE SAME "V" SHAPED BREAK WHILE TRAVELING ON A WELL MAINTAINED PAVED HIGHWAY. I DECIDED AT THAT TIME TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES WITH OME TIRES AND I KEPT THE REMAINING THREE GOOD TIRES. IN FEBRUARY, 2012, I EXPERIENCED A THIRD SIDEWALL FAILURE WITH THE SAME "V" SHAPED RUPTURE IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. MY MILEAGE AT THIS TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 40500. THE REPLACEMENT TIRE THAT WAS INSTALLED WAS FROM THE ORIGINAL OME TIRES THAT I HAD KEPT WHEN I REPLACED AFTER THE SECOND FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS LATER THAT REPLACEMENT TIRE DEVELOPED A BULGE ON THE OUTSIDE TREAD AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 12" LONG BY 2" WIDE. I THEN REPLACED ALL FOURS AGAIN WITH ANOTHER BRAND. THE OME TIRES ORIGINALLY ON MY VEHICLE AND THE FIRST SET OF REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE: KUMHO 225/55R BW KH16 99T. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO START WITHOUT A KEY BEING PLACED IN THE IGNITION. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT BUMPED THE KEY FOB AND THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE KEY FOB WAS VERY SENSITIVE. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT AND FOUND NO FAILURES. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 36,000.
I PURCHASED A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY IN MECHANICSVILLE VA IN 2008. THE VEHICLES FRONT BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE FRONT ROTORS TWICE IN 55,000 MILES. THE REAR BRAKES ALSO NEEDED REPLACEMENT ONCE. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THE BRAKES BECOME WARN, EXCEPT FOR METAL-ON-METAL SOUNDS WHEN THE HARDWARE FOR THE PADS MAKE CONTACT WITH THE ROTORS. THE QUICK LOSS OF BRAKING SURFACE AND ROTOR WEAR IS EFFECTING BRAKING RESPONSE AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. I CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A DEALERSHIP, AND BOTH STATED THAT IT WAS DRIVING HABITS THAT WERE CAUSING EARLY WEAR ON THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THESE COMPONENTS SO EARLY AND OFTEN ON ANY VEHICLE I'VE OWNED BEFORE. *TR
FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAVE GONE OUT FOUR TIMES. I HAD THE ROTORS RESURFACED TWO TIMES AND HAD TO PURCHASE NEW ROTORS TWO OTHER TIMES BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO FAR OUT OF SPEC. THE VEHICLE HAS 49,000 MILES. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE GONE OUT EVERY 10,000 TO 12,000 MILES. LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY AND PULSATING STEERING WHEEL ALMOST CONSTANTLY. *TR

WIPER BLADES HAD TO BE REPLACED. 4/8/2009- 3452MI.- REPLACED POWER INVERTER CONNECTORS BECAUSE OF RECALL. 6/22/2010-8,661MI.- HOOD ARM CAME OFF, HOOD LINER TORN. HAD TO BE REPLACED. 6/10/2011-13,082MI. REPLACED BOTH FRONT DOOR WIRING HARNESS BECAUSE OF RECALL. 5/18/2011-12,636MI.- SMALL OIL LEAK NOTICED BY TECH., WAS NOT OIL LEAK SO DID NOT PURSUE FURTHER. 12/30/2011-15,258MI.- WENT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TECH. NOTICED WATER LEAKAGE UNDER CAR, SAID I HAD LEFT ICE IN COOLER COMPARTMENT IN BACK OF DRIVERS SEAT AND IT HAD MELTED AND OVERFLOWED INTO CARPET. I DRIED IT UP AND ON 1/16/2012 -15,382MI.- AFTER ALOT OF RAIN RETURNED CAR TO DEALER , CARPET AND FOAM UNDER DRIVERS SEAT WAS WATER SOAKED AGAIN. FRONT AND REAR DOOR GASKETS ON DRIVERS SIDE WAS REPLACED. CARPET WAS NOT DRIED SO I HAD TO RETURN IT ON 1/24/12 TO BE DRIED. ON 2/10/2012-15, 532MI.- WATER LEAKING INSIDE AGAIN FROM RAIN. TECH FOUNDBODY SEAM IMCOMPLETE AND PINCH WELD DRAIN BLOCKED. REPAIRED AND WATER TESTED, SAID NO FURTHER LEAKS DETECTED. CARPET WAS NOT FULLY DRIED SO I AIR DRIED. ON 3/16/2011 -15,835MI.- RETURNED CAR AFTER RAINING . WATER IN CAR AGAIN. NOW IT IS 3/26/2012 AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE EXCEPT WATER TESTING. WORKING WITH DODGE CORP. AND DEALER HAS BEEN VERY FRUSTRATING. MEANWHILE I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND STILL PAYIN FOR IT. IF THERE EVER WAS A CAR CALLED A LEMON DODGE JOURNEY 2009 IS KING OF THE LEMONS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY ON FEBRUARY 28, 2009. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH MY JOURNEY UNTIL WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2009, WHEN I OPENED THE REAR HATCH TO FIND MY CAR HAD BEEN LEAKING WATER. I PROMPTLY TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM ONLY TO FIND THE PROBLEM WAS MADE WORSE ON THE NEXT DAY I HAD WATER STAINING IN COMPARTMENTS AT THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR. AS OF TODAY, APRIL 3, 2009 THEY HAVE NO ANSWERS AND MY CAR IS STILL NOT FIXED. I ASKED A FRIEND WHO PURCHASED THE SAME MODEL AND SHE SAID SHE HAD NOT NOTICED ANYTHING BUT HADN'T REALLY LOOKED SO WE LOOKED TOGETHER AND SHE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY IN JUNE 2009. THE BRAKES STARTED TO MAKE A GRUMBLING NOISE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. I HAD ONLY 11950 MILES ON THE CAR. IT WAS 3/2010. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKES AND WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I TOLD THEM IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 12K WARRANTY, SO THEY DID IT FREE OF CHARGE. I TOOK IT HOME AND IT WAS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND ASKED THEM TO PLEASE HAVE THE TECHNICIAN DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. I WAS 3 MILES AWAY FROM THE 12K MILE WARRANTY EXPIRING. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS. NOW IT IS 9/20/10, AND THE VEHICLE IS AT 21100K. IT STARTED TO MAKE THE SAME GRUMBLING NOISE AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 ROTORS. THREE DAYS LATER I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK BECAUSE WHEN I GO OVER 60 MPH IT STARTS TO VIBRATE AND FEELS LIKE I HAVE A FLAT TIRE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AD THEY ROTATED AND BALANCED THE TIRES. WHEN I GOT ON THE INTERSTATE, IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I EMAILED CHRYSLER 2 TIMES AND HAVE SPOKEN TO THEM TWICE. I NO LONGER TRUST THIS CAR. I AM AFRAID EVERYTIME I GET IN THE CAR TO DRIVE IT, I AM PUTTING MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY. I KNOW I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE REPLACING THE ROTORS EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE PAD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITH THE REMAINING THREE BRAKE PADS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND ALL FOUR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, AS WELL AS THE ROTORS. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED ELEVEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
HAVE A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY AND NEED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION AT 11,000 MILES AND NOW AT 13,000 MILES I NEEDED BRAKE PADS. STILL HAVE WHINING NOISE THAT NO DEALER CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE RADIO REPLACED, A RECALL COMPLETED AND SEVERAL OTHER ITEMS FIXED. IN LESS THAN A YEAR. UNFORTUNATELY, I CAN NOT AFFORD TO TRADE IT IN. *TR

THE CONTACT MERGED ONTO THE SHOULDER IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ROOF WAS LEAKING ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE SEAMS IN THE ROOF NEEDED REPLACING. THE DEALER MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS TO THE ROOF HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT SHE SHOULD SHAKE THE GEAR SHIFTER AND THEN TRY TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FOLLOWED THE DEALER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE CAUSE OF THE STARTING FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,900.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES AND THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. ADDITIONALLY, THE TIRES WERE REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE CONTINUOUS FAILURES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

SAFETY ISSUE: SHARP EDGED ROUGH REAR METAL SEAT RUNNERS THAT CHILDREN HAVE BEEN CUT ON. ATTEMPTED SAFETY MODIFICATION WITH MANUFACTURER. FIRST 2 ATTEMPTS SAID HAD NO RESOLUTION. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED. OUR 3RD ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE DUCT TAPE PLACED ON BY SERVICE DEALER. FINAL RESPONSE SAID NOTHING ELSE COULD DO AS IT WAS NORMAL AND JUST THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS DESIGNED (PER MANUFACTURER'S INSPECTOR.) MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TROUBLE STARTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK UNLESS IT WAS LOCKED MANUALLY INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
I OWN A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY, WITHIN THE LAST MONTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE BOTH EXPERIENCED TIRE BLOWOUTS. THE PROBLEM COMES FROM THE VALVE OF THE TIRE SNAPPING OFF AND IMMEDIATE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE. THESE INCIDENTS HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE WINTER. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS MATTER THAT NEEDS TO BE FOLLOWED UP. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT 12/12/2010, I TOOK VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO PUT A RUBBER VALVE ON TILL I COULD VEHICLE INTO DEALER. THE SECOND INCIDENT TOOK PLACE 1/13/2011. I CALLED THE DODGE DEALER TOLD HIM ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE VALVES REPLACED, WHEN I ASKED IF THEY WOULD REPLACE OTHER TWO VALVES I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT TALK TO DODGE. DODGE SAID IT WOULD PAY FOR DAMAGE TO TIRE THIS SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL WHEN YOUR DEALING WITH SAFETY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. IN ADDITION, A STRONG ODOR OF BURNING BRAKE PADS EMITTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DODGE HAS NEVER SOLVED THE NO START PROBLEM THE DODGE JOURNEY HAS HAD. WE AND ALL THE OTHER OWNERS ARE UPSET THAT WE ARE SPENDING OUR MONEY ON TRYING TO FIX IT AND DODGE ISN'T. DODGE SAID THAT THEY WILL ONLY DO SOMETHING IF A RECALL IS ISSUED BY YOU PLEASE HELP US . NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD A NEW CAR WITH TODAY'S PRICES. BOUGHT A NEW 2009 DODGE JOURNEY SXT WITH 11 MILES ON IT. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 18,000 MILES MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED REPLACING, TALKED DEALER INTO REPLACING. NOW AFTER 25,000 MILES, NEED REPLACING AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD WOBBLE WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS EVERY 15,000 MILES. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND BY THE CONTACT HERSELF. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CONSTANT FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE WAY SHE WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE STEERING MAKES NOISE, INTERIOR LIGHTS DON'T WORK, HAZARD LIGHTS DON'T WORK, LOCKS MALFUNCTION, ALARM MALFUNCTIONS AND WON'T TURN OFF...I BROUGHT IT IN TO HAVE THE STEERING ISSUE LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THEY NEED TO KEEP IT FOR AT LEAST A DAY TO FIX IT. THEY REFUSE, HOWEVER TO GIVE ME A RENTAL UNTIL THEY FIND A DIAGNOSIS, WHICH THEY NOW TELL ME WILL TAKE AT LEAST 2 DAYS. SO, I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH A CAR THAT HAS ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER BREAKING ON IT BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO GO 2 DAYS WITHOUT A CAR. I HAVE TO WORK. I AM WRITING YOU IN REFERENCE OF THE PURCHASED OF MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE, A 2009-DODGE JOURNEY SE ON JUNE 08, 2008. THIS CAR BEGINNING TO HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER IT 6,000 MILES HAVING A NUMEROUS REPAIRS SINCE THEM. I SUBMITTED THE CAR TO THE LEMON LAW BEFORE THE WARRANTY TIME EXPIRED. THE CAR BOUNCING AFTER 50 MP MILES AND EVERY TIME THAT BUMPS ON THE STREET OR ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE MAKES STRONGLY BOUNCES. THE COMPANY STATES THE BOUNCING AND THE NOISES ARE PART OF THE CARS MANUFACTURED. I WAS SITTING STOPPED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON 06.17.2008 ON HWY 270. A TRUCK TRAVELING AT APPROX 60 MPH HIT THE REAR OF THE JOURNEY . THE TRUCK REMAINED CONNECTED AND PUSHED THE JOURNEY FORWARD INTO 3 ADDITIONAL CARS AND ONE PICKUP TRUCK. MOST VEHICLES SUFFERED HEAVY DAMAGE AND ME AND TWO OTHERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO EMERGENCY ROOMS. THE POLICE REPORT INDICATED 86' OF SKID MARKS AND THE TRUCK DRIVER WAS TICKETED + ASSIGNED 100% BLAME. MY INJURIES INCLUDED CHEST COMPRESSION, BRIEFLY BLACKED-OUT, HEAVY BRUISING FROM THE LEFT SHOULDER TO THE LEFT KNEE, STRAINED NECK AND NERVE DAMAGE. PRE-ACCIDENT I WAS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND WEARING THE SEAT BELT/SHOULDER HARNESS. POST ACCIDENT MY UPPER BODY WAS AGAINST THE DRIVER DOOR WITH THE STEERING WHEEL COMPRESSED AGAINST MY CHEST. THE FRONT AND SIDE JOURNEY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELT DID NOT PREVENT ME FROM BEING THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND OUT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. I DID NOT HAVE SEAT BELT BURN MARKS THAT MAY BE EXPECTED FROM A HIGH SPEED MULTIPLE IMPACT ACCIDENT OF THIS KIND. THE JOURNEY TRAVELED APPROX 60' AFTER IMPACT WAS SUBJECT TO 1 HARD IMPACT TO THE REAR AND 4 HARD IMPACTS TO THE FRONT. THE JOURNEY REPAIRS COST $15,000. TRIED TO START THE CAR ONE DAY AND ALL IT DID WAS TRY TO TURN. EVENTUALLY THROUGH BLOGS I HAD READ ABOUT THE STARTING ISSUE AND TO KEEP TRYING TO TURN IT AND MAYBE IT WOULD GO, IT DIED.
