LIKE MOST OF THE PEOPLE POSTING, I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. MY JOURNEY WILL OFTEN TIMES NOT START ON THE FIRST, SECOND, THIRD OR FOURTH TRY. AT TIMES IT TAKES 1 MINUTE TO START, AT OTHER TIMES IT TAKES AN HOUR OR MORE. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE VERY CONCERNING RANDOM HONKING. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR JUST STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE HONKS CAN LAST ANYWHERE FROM 1 SECOND TO MINUTES WORTH OF INTERMITTENT BEEPS. THIS IS BY FAR AND AWAY THE ABSOLUTE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. I KEPT PRESSING TO STOP BUT THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I COULD NOT STOP. I HAD TO ROLL THROUGH THE STOP AND MAKE A HARD RIGHT TURN. IF THERE WAS TRAFFIC I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS VEHICLE HAD BREAKING ISSUES AFTER THE FIRST EVENT WHICH WAS APRX 15000 ILES AGO THE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH THEY REPLACED.ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST CHRYSLER BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
WE PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A PRIMARY ROAD AND AS SOON AS WE STEPPED ON THE GAS A LOUD SOUND OCCURRED. WE THOUGHT WE WERE HIT FROM BEHIND. THEN ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND WE COULD NOT GO OVER 15MPH. WE PULLED INTO THE NEXT PARKING LOT. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED FOR 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO COOL. WE STARTED IT AGAIN AND TRIED TO DRIVE BUT COULD NOT GO OVER 15 MPH. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER AND 4 DAYS LATER I WAS CALLED THE SERVICE TECH SAID IT WAS THE PCM AND IT WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER THE PCM WAS REPLACED THEY CALLED AGAIN AND SAID THE CAR IS STILL NOT RUNNING AND THEY TESTED IT WITH A CARAVAN TIPM AND IT IS A TIPM PROBLEM AND I NEEDED TO PAY FOR THAT REPAIR. THE TIPM WAS WORKING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEN AFTER THEY TRIED TO REPAIR IT THEY SAID THE TIPM WAS NOT WORKING. MY CAR WAS IN SERVICE FOR 30 DAYS. I GOT CALLS THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER, NO IT CAME IN, NOT IT WAS FOR ANOTHER CAR, IT IS ON BACKORDER AND CORPORATE WAS IN ON IT ALSO BECAUSE I PLACED OVER 62 CALLS TO THE DEALER AND CORPORATE AND ONLY RECEIVED 6 CALLS FROM DODGE. NOW THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE TIPM. BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDES NUMEROUS DEALER SERVICE VISITS COMPLAINING OF NON-STARTING AND STALLING. ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY DOORS UNLOCKING. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE KEY-LESS REMOTE NEEDING A BATTERY OR THE CAR NEED A NEW BATTERY, CHANGED BOTH AND THAT WASN'T IT. THE ONLY DOOR THAT WOULD OPEN WAS THE DRIVER'S SIDE. SOMETIMES ALL THE DOOR WILL OPEN , THEN ONCE IT OPENS IT WILL NOT OPEN AGAIN UNTIL, MAYBE A WEEK FROM THEN, A MONTH. IT JUST OPENS WHEN IT WANTS. I HAVE TO LEAN OVER TO OPEN THE OTHER DOORS WHEN I GET IN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED ANOTHER COMPUTER MODULE, BUT THEY COUDLN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT SO THAT HAD TO BE THE PROBLEM. NO ONE HAS $600 FOR THAT TPN PART. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED ONTO. *TR
I AM CURRENTLY THE CO-OWNER ALONG WITH MY WIFE OF 2010 DODGE JOURNEY AWD . WE LIVE IN NORTHWESTERN ERIE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA. THIS AREA TRADITIONALLY RECEIVES 86 PLUS INCHES OF SNOW, AND SNOW COVERED ICY ROADS ARE THE NORM DURING THE SNOW SEASON. ON 5 MARCH 2014, MY WIFE NOTICED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT WAS ACTIVATED. I ATTRIBUTED THE SIGNAL TO THE LOW AIR TEMPERATURE WHICH WAS BELOW 0 DEGREE F. ON 6 MARCH 2014 AFTER I DROVE THE CAR IN 20+ DEGREES F. THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ACTIVATED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TIRE SHOP TO HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE CHECKED BY THE PROFESSIONAL. THE OWNER/TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES. WHILE CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE, ONE RETAINING NUT (LOCATED ON THE OUTSIDE TIRE RIM) WHICH HOLDS THE TIRE SENSOR MONITOR (LOCATED INSIDE THE TIRE) SPLIT, AND ONE HALF OF THE NUT FELL ONTO THE FLOOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE REMAINING RETAINING NUTS WERE FOUND TO BE CORRODED, BUT NOT CRACKED. THE TECHNICIAN/OWNER EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AND WHAT THE RESULTS COULD BE IF THE SENSOR MONITOR WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY REPLACE. HE ALSO GAVE ME EXAMPLES OF OTHER CUSTOMERS TO WHOM THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED. THE BIGGEST DANGER ACCORDING TO HIM WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF TIRE AIR PRESSURE WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. HE STATED HE FINDS THE RETAINING NUT PROBLEM ONLY ON CHRYSLER/FIAT VEHICLES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE AT MY EXPENSE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MONITOR WAS REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT UNDER FEDERAL LAW REPLACE THE SENSOR MONITOR WITH A STANDARD TIRE VALVE. I FEEL THAT THESE MONITORS NEED TO BE CONSIDER FOR A SAFETY RECALL. PLEASE ADVISE ME AND OTHER OWNERS (ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO RESIDE IN COLD, SNOWY CLIMATES) OF CHRYSLER/FIAT PRODUCTS AS TO REMEDIES TO THIS POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND FINANCIAL BURDEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER RANGE SWITCH WIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS. WE HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE ALL DAY. WE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE BUT WHEN USING THE BACKUP KEY. THOUGHT MAYBE THIS WAS THE ISSUE IT WAS NOT. I USED THE KEYS MY WIFE USES EVERY DAY. THIS IS BECOMING A BIG ISSUE NOW. WHEN IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND WOULD START IT WAS OK BUT IT IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. WE LIVE IN A RURAL AREA AND MY WIFE DRIVES 40 MINUTES TO WORK EVERY DAY. IF THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN SHE IS AT WORK THERE WILL BE NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. I AM PAYING ALOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND NEED CHRYSLER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS AND ISSUE A RECALL AS I CAN SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. IT IS GONNA END UP COSTING ME ALOT OF MONEY I DON'T HAVE. I WILL BE HONEST IF THEY CANT FIX THE ISSUE I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY FOR TOWING AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE THE PAYMENTS IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED AND I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE WHICH IS UP IN 3000 MILES. AT 200 MILES BACK AND FORTH TO WORK AND RUNNING 2 TEENAGE KIDS AROUND THAT WILL NOT BE LONG, CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT THIS ISSUE NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. WHERE MY WIFE WORKS IS NOT THE BEST PART OF TOWN AND IT IS ALL EXPRESSWAY DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. IF THIS ISSUE TURNS INTO THE STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY SHE COULD EASILY BE KILLED IN RUSH HOUR DRIVING. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FYI HAD THE BRAKES DONE TOO. FUNNY SINCE IT IS ALL HIGHWAY DRIVING. *TR
2010 DODGE JOURNEY SXT AWD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP FOR A FEW MINUTES, DASH, LIGHTS, ETC. WOULD TURN ON BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. FINALLY STARTED AND DROVE TO WORK. VEHICLE ALSO WILL NOT START 80% OF THE TIME YOU TURN THE KEY. SOMETIMES LIGHT AND DASH WILL COME ON BUT CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER FOR A FEW MINUTES, OTHER TIMES IT STARTS ON FIRST TURN. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS VERY COMMON ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD ACTIVATE INDEPENDENTLY WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE CONTACT DISABLED THE FUSE IN ORDER FOR THE WIPERS TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. IN ADDITION, BOTH TURN SIGNALS AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW FROM DEALER. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP GETS BELOW 40 DEGREES. AFTER OWNING THE JOURNEY FOR A YEAR, WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TIRES, BRAKES, AND ROTORS AFTER ONLY 10,000 MILES; REPLACE A FAULTY BATTERY AND COMPLAINED TO DEALER ABOUT THE AIR NOISE AT DRIVER DOOR, WINDOWS ROLLING DOWN AND DOORS UNLOCKING BY THEMSELVES, HARD SHIFTING IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ALL WITHIN THE ODOMETER READING 15,000 MILES. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO START VEHICLE WHEN I TURN KEY OVER TO START VEHICLE WILL MAKE A CLICKING SOUND BUT DOES NOT START ALSO HAD TO REMOVE FUSES FOR HORN BECAUSE HORN WOULD RANDOMLY GO OFF EVEN WHEN VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING OR HORN BUTTON WAS NOT PUSHED. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY SINCE 2014. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AROUND 10 TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM IS NEVER RESOLVED.
VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE A CLICKING NOISE A MONTH PRIOR TO FAILURE. AFTER A COLD SNAP, THE ENGINE BEGAN RUNNING VERY ROUGHLY AT START. DIAGNOSTICS SHOW THAT THE #2 CYLINDER IS FAILING, AND LEADING TO WEAK AIR INTAKE IN CYLINDERS #4 AND #6. MY RESEARCH HAS INDICATED THAT DODGE IS AWARE OF THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS OF A CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE IN THE ENGINE IN THIS MODEL OF CAR. THESE FAILURES HAVE LEAD TO A NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE OF THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, I AM CURRENTLY 379TH ON A LIST REQUESTING THE PARTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. DODGE SEEMS TO BE KNOWINGLY AWARE OF A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW AND IS OFFERING NO HELP TO PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF THAT ARE OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY COVERAGE. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULTIPLE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR, STARTER, FUEL PUMP AND IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE KEY WAS UNABLE TO CONNECT TO A SENSOR IN THE IGNITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SINCE DECEMBER WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RADIO, BLINKERS AND FRONT/BACK AND HEAD LIGHTS TURN OFF. I LITERALLY HAVE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND RE-START THE ENGINE TILL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND HAVE TO DO THE SAMETHING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TWO WEEKS PRIOR AND THEY STATED IT WAS ONLY A FUSE. IT CONSTANTLY STILL HAPPENS WHICH IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO TAKES SOMETIMES 3-5 TRIES TO START THE CAR. *TR

I HAVE HAD MY INTEGRATED MODULE REPLACED TWICE BUT STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM OF ALL THE ACCESSORY LIGHTS COMING ON IN THE CAR. NOTHING WORKS WHEN THIS HAPPEN. ALSO I AM NOW HAVING A PROBLEM WHEN I INSERT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IT'S LIKE IT WANT TURN OVER UNLESS IT IS IN A CERTAIN SPOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR AND THE HEATER COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. ENGINE DIED AND CAR LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING STEERING, BRAKES. *TR
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, MY 2010 DODGE JOURNEY LOOSES WIPERS, RADIO, AIR CONDITIONING, HEAT LIGHTS AND ON TWO OCCASIONS THE MOTOR SHUTS OFF. BOTH TIMES ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. VERY SCARY! I HAD ALL MY GRANDCHILDREN WITH ME ON ONE OCCASION. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO JIGGLE THE KEY TO MAKE IT STOP. THAT WAS THERE "EASY FIX". *TR
THE CAR LIGHTS DO NOT WORK TURNED ON MANUALLY OR AUTOMATIC. WHEN IT FIRST STARTED IT WAS VERY INTERMITTENT, CURRENTLY IT'S ALMOST DAILY. I HAVE HAD IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS (BEFORE AND AFTER WARRANTY). BOTH TIMES I HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND I NEED TO BRING IT IN WHEN IT HAPPENS. MY RESPONSE "YOU ARE NOT OPEN WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT'S DARK". I HAVE ALSO HAD IT TO MY MECHANIC MULTIPLE TIMES AND GOT BLESS HIS SOLE HE FOUND THE PROBLEM THIS PAST WEEKEND. I DID NOT HAVE IT FIXED HE SAID IT WILL PROBABLY BE SOMEWHERE NEED 1200.00. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND SHOULD BE FIXED VIA A RECALL. I DID LOOK THAT UP AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS BUT NO RECALL. MY SON CURRENTLY DRIVES THE CAR AND IS AWAY AT COLLEGE WHICH POSES ALL SORTS OF ISSUES. WE HAVE A SHORT TERM SOLUTION WE FIGURED OUT THAT IF YOU UNPLUG THE BATTERY AND PLUG IT BACK IN THE LIGHTS RESET, NOT VERY CONVENIENT. MY MECHANIC ALSO SUGGESTED REWIRING THE HIGH BEAMS TO THE REGULAR LIGHTS BUT THEN YOU WOULDN'T HAVE HIGH BEAMS.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED, AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE GEAR LEVER INTO THE PARK POSITION, AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). I WAS STRUCK ON THE LEFT FRONT BY A 1997 DODGE STRATUS OCCUPIED BY 5 TEENAGE BOYS. THE DAMAGE WAS BUMPER AND LEFT FENDER (INSURANCE ESTIMATE ABOUT $3,000. BUT THE BATTERY WAS PLACED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE BATTERY WAS THE ORIGINAL BATTERY INSTALLED ON CAR. NO ENGINE REPAIR HAD BEEN DONE ON THE VEHICLE. THE BATTERY EXPLODED AND THE ENGINE WAS COVERED BY BATTERY ACID WHICH DESTROYED ALL THE WIRING IN THE ENGINE. BATTERY ACID ALSO WENT DOWN THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR DESTROYING PAINT AND EATING INTO METAL. TWO ADJUSTERS EXAMINED THE CAR AS THE INSURANCE WAS AMAZED AT AMOUNT OF DESTRUCTION. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO DODGE CORP. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO PERFORMANCE DODGE DEALERSHIP. NOW I GET THE RECALL FOR THE WIN MODULE AND WILL HAVE TO FIGHT TO BE REIMBURSED. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERS AND INVOICE FROM PERFORMANCE DODGE. ANY CHANCE OF BEING REIMBURSED FOR A PIECE OF JUNK CAR, RENTAL CARS AND THE LIKE?????

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,495.

VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AND SUDDENLY LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. CAR WAS MOVED TO SHOULDER OF ROADWAY AND I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE ENGINE DIDN'T WANT TO RESTART. WHEN ENGINE DID RESTART CAR RAN NORMAL FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES FROM 6/13 TO 10/14. DEALER CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. IGNITION IS NOT ON RECALL LIST FOR THIS PARTICULAR VIN. I HAD DEALER REPLACE IGNITION ON 10/14 AND HAD TO PURCHASE TWO ADDITIONAL KEYS BECAUSE THE OLD KEYS COULD NOT BE PROGRAMMED TO THE NEW IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
