TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE BRAKE PAD WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE BOOSTER HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,883.
DODGE JOURNEY, ENGINE COMPLETE POWER DOWN/SHUT DOWN; LOSS OF ALL FUNCTION IN THE CAR, NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, NO LIGHTS
WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 12,000 MILES ON THIS CAR. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH ONLY APPROXIMATELY 18,000 MILES ON IT AND AT APPROXIMATELY 19,000 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR WORN OUT PADS AND WARPED ROTORS. TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALER TO SEE WHY THE BRAKES WORE OUT SO EARLY AND THEY SAID IT HAD NON-MOPAR BRAKE PADS ON IT SO IT VOIDED THE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR US. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000 MILES ON IT NOW AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS 3 TIMES FOR WORN OUT PADS AND WARPED ROTORS AND THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ONCE AT 40,000 MILES FOR THE SAME. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE GO THRU BRAKES LIKE THIS ONE. THE BRAKES ARE UNDERSIZED FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND DODGE KNOWS IT BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, THAT IS NOT RIGHT! WHEN THE BRAKES WEAR OUT THIS QUICKLY WITH NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THERE IS A PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS POORLY DESIGNED BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
ON MARCH 18, 2007 WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A SECONDARY ROAD, OUR 2010 DODGE JOURNEY, CLASS 1B3H80100, BEGAN HAVING SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, INTERIOR LIGHT STARTED GOING OFF AND ON, AND THEN THE VEHICLE CUT OFF ENTIRELY. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES DON'T SEEM TO BE FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WITH 3 SEPARATE RECALL/WARRANTY NOTICES FOUND WHICH APPEAR TO COVER BRAKES, DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE STARTER ISSUE. THE DEALER STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF ONLY 1 RECALL. THEY INDICATED THAT SINCE IT WAS NEAR CLOSING TIME, THEY COULD NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUES UNTIL MONDAY. MY DAUGHTER AND HER 2 INFANTS USE THIS CAR. WHEN I PURCHASED IT, THE DEALER MENTIONED IT HAD BEEN 'RETURNED' AND HAD VERY LOW MILEAGE. WHEN ASKED WHY IT WAS RETURNED, THEY STATED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER BOUGHT MANY VEHICLES FROM THEM, AND JUST NEEDED SOMETHING DIFFERENT. THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT RESULTING FROM THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN MOTION NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED SO THAT NO ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THANK YOU. *TR
PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING OVER A RAILROAD TRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS THE CAUSE OF THE STALLING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT SHOW ANY FAILURE CODES. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,150.
I HAD A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY THAT CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND PROCEEDED TO BURN TO THE GROUND. I WAS TURNING TO PARK IN FRONT OF MY FRIEND'S HOME, WHEN THE FIRE BURST OUT OF THE ENGINE, NEAR THE WINDSHIELD. THIS, ON ITS OWN, MAY NOT BE OVERLY MONUMENTAL, BUT THERE ARE MANY FACTORS INVOLVED THAT I BELIEVE NEED TO BE BROUGHT TO PUBLIC ATTENTION. FIRST, THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT 2 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE MARCH 11 INCIDENT. THE INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE FIRE WAS A DEFECT INVOLVING THE STEERING FLUID LINE....AN ISSUE THAT HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES IN THIS VEHICLE!! THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2009 JOURNEY, BUT NOTHING FOR THE 2010. SEEMS TO ME THAT WHATEVER THE TOLUCA MEXICO ASSEMBLY PLANT HAS BEEN DOING WRONG, HASN'T BEEN RECTIFIED!!! CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE AGAIN!!! CHRYSLER LEGAL, TOLD ME IT WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN! SECOND, CHRYSLER LEGAL DEPARTMENT IS BEING EXTREMELY CURT, AND UNHELPFUL IN RESOLVING THINGS FOR US. THEY ARE 'ALLOWING' US TO KEEP OUR CURRENT LOAN IN PLACE (FOR THE CAR THAT EXPLODED) AND 'GIVING' US THE CURRENT MSRP ON THAT CAR (A 2010) TO FIND ANOTHER NEW CHRYSLER VEHICLE. THEN, THEY SAID THAT THEY MIGHT REIMBURSE A PERCENTAGE OF THE MANY THINGS THAT WERE IN THE CAR....LIKE MY 2 BRITAX CAR SEATS! AT THIS POINT, I'M INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED, AND DESPERATE FOR THE MESSAGE TO GET OUT ABOUT HOW CORRUPT CHRYSLER IS, AND HOW DANGEROUS THIS VEHICLE IS. BRAKES WENT OUT AT 14,074; THEN AGAIN AT 20,811 MILES; AND AGAIN AT 36,201. THE VEHICLE IS TWO YEARS OLD. *JB
ROTORS ARE WARPED CAUSING A SHAKING, WOBBLING STEERING WHEEL WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. SO FAR, 3 SETS OF ROTORS HAVE BEEN PUT ON THIS VEHICLE (1 FROM FACTORY AND 2 FOLLOW ON SETS BY DEALER DUE TO CONTINUAL FAILURE OF ROTORS...) THERE ARE ONLY 21000 MILES ON THIS JOURNEY AND IT WILL SOON NEED A 4TH SET OF ROTORS. THE PERSISTENCE OF ROTOR FAILURE MAKES IT HARD TO STEER THE CAR SAFELY AS THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIES VIOLENTLY WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE ROTOR FAILURES ARE ALSO CAUSING UNSAFE, PREMATURE AND UNEVEN WEAR ON THE TIRES. IN ALL, THE 2010 JOURNEY IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE CONSISTENT ROTOR FAILURES. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT DO DO.
I PURCHASED A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY ON 2/25 WITH 17K MILES. FIVE DAYS LATER I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 5 MTH OLD DAUGHTER AND IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF! IT DID IT AGAIN LATER THAT DAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE I GOT IT BACK FROM THE DEALER. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THEY AREN'T RELEASING INFORMATION ON THIS UNTIL AFTER APRIL! I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR - BUT AM FORCED TO SINCE I HAVE TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE, IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THIS HAPPENED PERIODICALLY OVER A COURSE OF THREE YEAR.. LAST WEEK, MY CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, ALMOST KILLING MY CHILDREN AND I. WHEN I REPORTED THIS TO DODGE, I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR AN IGNITION ISSUE (I WAS NOT AWARE OF) AND IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. THE RECALL ISSUE WAS CAUSING THE THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUES THAT I WAS HAVING. NOW MY CAR WONT START AND LO AND BEHOLD, IM BEING TOLD ITS MY IGNITION, YET IM BEING TOLD THAT ITS NOT DODGES PROBLEM. WE ALMOST DIED AND DODGE COULD CARE LESS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING CAR A WEEK LATER, I HIT THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING. HAD TO LET OFF THE BRAKES TO KEEP CONTROL OF CAR. REAPPLIED BRAKES AND GOT STOPPED. PULLED OVER TO CHECK WHEELS. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND SAID I NEEDED ROTORS AND PAD. HAD THEM REPLACED. WITHIN 7000 MILES, SAME PROBLEM. HAS CONSTANTLY BEEN A PROBLEM. HAVING TO GET NEW PADS AND ROTOR ABOUT EVERY 7000-10000 MILES. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND HEAVEN FORBID YOU ARE CLOSE TO WARRANTY. I THINK DODGE TRAINS THEIR TECHNICIANS TO COVER UP PROBLEMS TO MAKE IT TO WARRANTY SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. *TR
1) I HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACES AFTER OWNING THE CARE 7 DAYS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT RODARS AND BRAKE PADS. SIX WEEKS LATER I COMPLAINED OF THE METAL TO METAL SOUND FROM THE REAR BRAKES, BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME, "YOU CAN KEEP DRIVING THE CAR, IT'S OK FOR NOW". NOW THE BRAKES ARE TOTALLY GONE AND THE FRONT BRAKES ARE CAUSING THE CAR TO SHAKE WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN...AGAIN!! 2) THE CAR DOESN'T ALWAYS START. YOU HAVE TO CRANK THE KEY 4-5 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL START. THIS SEEMS TO BE IN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. 3) THE TRANSMISSION JERKS INTO GEAR. 4) THE PLASTIC IN THE WHEEL WELL COMING OFF. *TR
DOES NOT START ALL THE TIME THEY REPLACED STARTER SHOWS LOW TIRES , ON ICE . TAILGATE OPEN DOOR OPEN 3 SETS OF TIRES AND BRAKES UNDER 100,00 MILES THEY CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG THEY PARTS AT IT I'M PAYING THE $100. EVERY TIME . DODGE KEEPS SAYING THEY WILL HELP , TALK IS CHEAP !! YOU THINK THEY WOULD TRY TO FIND OUT WHATS WRONG INSTEAD OF THROWING PARTS AT IT !HAVE THE JOURNEY AT LEASE 50 TIMES IT NEVER HAS BEEN FIXED . 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. I'VE HAD 4 INCIDENTS WHERE MY JOURNEY HAS LOST POWER/STALLED. THE FIRST WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE CAR LOST POWER AND I DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO STEER AND HIT A POLE. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT FIRST. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS IN APRIL 21ST, WHILE GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS, AND AGAIN LOST POWER. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER AND WAS ABLE TO GLIDE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ONCE STOPPED WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE 3RD INCIDENT WAS ON APRIL 27TH, WAS ON THE HIGHWAY FOR WORK, WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED GOING 65 MILES PER HOUR. I DID NOT HAVE BREAK OR POWER STEERING, AND WAS SURROUNDED BY SEMI TRUCKS. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THROUGH TRAFFIC AND GET TO THE SHOULDER THE VEHICLE STARTED AND WAS FINE. THE 4TH INCIDENT WAS ON MAY 25TH, WHILE ENTERING A 2 LANE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN AND TO AVOID GETTING HIT WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, I HAD TO HIT THE CURB TO STOP. THIS HAD CAUSED TIRE DAMAGE AND BENT THE RIM. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM AN OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE AND AM ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN MY VEHICLE FOR A MAJOR PART OF THE DAY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLS ME THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE AND IF MY VIN WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL THEN THEIR ISN'T ANYTHING I CAN DO. I FEEL THAT I AM DRIVING IN A DEATH TRAP AND DODGE/CHRYSLER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. *TR

I BOUGH A NEW 2010 DODGE JOURNEY IN JUNE 2010 AND I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT ON RAMP. AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO AND THE CAR WAS OFF, HOWEVER THE LIGHTS WERE STILL ON AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ON ALSO. HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART, ITS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE. BOTH TIMES I TOOK IT TO DODGE AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I AM SO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT SHUT OFF.. HOW CAN I GET THEM TO FIX IT, WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. JUST MADE A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT . A CAR APPROXIMATELY 100FT. DOWN THE ROAD WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. MY VEHICLE COULD NOT STOP AND I ENDED UP RUNNING RIGHT INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN INSPECTION AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM.

CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING DEFECTIVE TIRES AND REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HIS DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW HAD TO PURCHASE FOUR NEW TIRES, BECAUSE TWO OF THEM WENT FLAT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE WHILE MAKING SLIGHT TURNS OR WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I BOUGHT MY CAR DECEMBER OF 2010 AND SINCE OWNING IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT ISSUES. I DID HAVE SOME THINGS FIXED RIGHT AFTER PURCHASE AND OTHERS THEY SAID THEY SAW NO ISSUE. MY VEHICLE KEEPS LOOSING COOLANT AND WAS OVERHEATING WHICH NOT BURNT MY RESERVOIR, MY CAR DOESN'T ALWAYS START WHICH HAS HAPPENED SINCE I PURCHASED, DOOR LOCK DOESN'T WORK ON DRIVER DOOR, AND HORN WAS SOUNDING WHILE DRIVING AND ALARM WAS CONSTANTLY GOING OFF UNTIL I REMOVED FUSE, AND FUSE BOX ALWAYS HAS A CLICKING NOISE. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE I HAVE SEEN MANAU WITH SIMILAR ISSUES AND THEY ARE ALL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. ALSO MY CAR MADE A TERRIBLE GROWLING NOISE AND I HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED. PLEASE HELP GET THESE INVESTIGATED IT'S TERRIBLE. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE A DODGE OR ADVISE ANYONE TO DO SO. AT 9000 MILES, I HAD TO STOP VERY FAST BECAUSE SOMEONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I STOPPED, THE WHOLE FRONT END SHUTTERED.
