The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact attempted to deactivate the cruise control feature however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slowed down and the contact was able to pull over to the side of the roadway and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted and operated as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that no failure was found. The vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic however, the independent mechanic found no failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 10,000.
