The contact then stated that her husband was able to tow the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where they disconnected the Bluetooth module. The contact stated that the vehicle was operable however, a few days later, while driving, the check engine and throttle body warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle stalled again. The contact stated that she allowed the vehicle to rest for fifteen minutes to before being able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to an inspection station to be inspected but failed due to the mass air flow sensor. The contact stated that she took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced. The mass air flow sensor was replaced however, the vehicle failed inspection again. The contact then stated that on another occasion while driving, the vehicle failed to respond while the accelerator pedal was depressed and stalled without warning. BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD TO DO BRAKES 4 TIMES. TRAVEL WITH VEHICLE IS MOSTLY LOCAL TO AND FROM WORK AND SCHOOL SPORTING EVENTS FOR THE KIDS. HAD TO REDO THEM IN 6 MONTH PERIOD.
THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES EXTREMELY SOFT AFTER THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGES OR AFTER BRAKING WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP/POTHOLE. IT CAN STILL BRAKE, BUT I HAVE TO PRESS THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN RATHER THAN STOPPING. IT WILL STAY SOFT A WHILE (15-20 MIN), BUT I FOUND THAT IF I PUMP THEM HARD A FEW TIMES (LIKE WHILE AT A RED LIGHT) IT THEN RETURNS TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, MOSTLY RECENTLY 2/28/2019. I'M AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN AND RESULT IN ME HAVING AN ACCIDENT OR REAR-ENDING SOMEONE.
PROBLEM BEGAN WITH BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT COMING ON, SEEMINGLY AT RANDOM. BRAKES STILL SEEMED TO BE WORKING NORMALLY. THEN BRAKES STARTED FAILING TO CATCH WHILE DRIVING. REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE SPEED, 10 MPH OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO ALMOST TO FLOOR AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO PUMP IT SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE BRAKE TO ENGAGE. TOOK IT IN TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR, DIAGNOSED A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SERVICED ALL OUTSTANDING RECALLS. THEY REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER AT A COST OF $982 TO US. BRAKES WORKED FINE FOR THREE WEEKS THEN PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN BUT THIS TIME BRAKE WARNING LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED. JUST AS BEFORE, SOMETIMES THE BRAKES WORK NORMALLY, OTHER TIMES THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND YOU HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL IT 'CATCHES'. TAKING IT BACK IN TO DEALER - THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM, NOT KNOWING IF THE CAR IS GOING TO STOP OR NOT. JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF REPORTS FROM MOTORISTS AND MECHANICS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2013 DODGE JOURNEY VEHICLES.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE REPAIRS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL HER BACK, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED SHE WENT TO PICKED UP HER CAR, SHE WAS CHARGED $766.00 AND RECALL WAS NOT DONE. CAR IS STILL DOING WHAT CONSUMER BROUGHT IT IN FOR. BRAKE MODULE IS STILL BAD, I'M SURE I WILL NEED ANOTHER BRAKE JOB. UPDATED 10/17/18*JB

I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THEY BECAME SPONGY THEN SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE BRAKES ALMOST WOULD NOT STOP. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO BOTTOM OUT EVEN WHEN APPLIED WHILE IN PARK. THERE IS NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID IN MASTER CYLINDER. SUSPECT ABS SYSTEM. THERE WAS A RECALL TO FIX ABS FAILURE THAT THE DEALER DID.
DRIVING DOWN A STATE ROAD AND MY BRAKES BECAME SPONGY. IN ORDER TO STOP I WOULD HAVE TO SLOW DOWN AND PUSH MY BRAKES PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I PULLED OVER AND SHUT MY CAR OFF TOO CALL SOMEONE. AS SOON AS I STARTED MY VEHICLE AGAIN THE BRAKES WERE FINE. TODAY I DECIDED TO PULL OVER AGAIN AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON I PUMPED THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES AND IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES SO FAR. I HAVE A NEWBORN AND CANNOT RISK BRAKE PROBLEMS. I CHECKED AND MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL, HOWEVER, DODGE JOURNEYS BETWEEN 2012 AND 2015 HAVE RECALLS. MINE IS A 2013 BUT NO RECALL. IS THIS THE SAME ISSUE? AND IF SO, WHY DO I NOT HAVE A RECALL ON MINE?.
