GAS TANK IS LEAKING FROM THE TOP ONTO THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN TANK IS NEAR FULL. NOTICED LEAK ABOUT A WEEK AGO. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND A MERGING TRUCK FORCED ME TO TAKE THE CAR OF CRUISE AND THE PEDAL WAS SO HARD I COULDN'T AT FIRST AND IM A 250 LB GUY WAS GLAD MY WIFE WAS NOT DRIVING. SINCE THEN IT HAS BECOME MUCH WORSE AND APPEARS THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS FAILED. WITH VERY LITTLE RESEARCH THIS LOOKS LIKE AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR AND SEVERAL OTHERS. I TRAVEL HIGHWAY A LOT SO MY MILEAGE IS HIGHER THAN MOST OF THIS AGE AND MAY ALSO BE WHY IT DIDN'T SHOW EARLIER. THE BOOSTER LOSES PRESSURE FAST ENOUGH TO BE A REAL HAZARD TO DRIVE YOU HAVE TO STAND ON THE PEDAL TO GET YOUR BRAKES TO WORK. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TILL I CAN FIX IT CANT AFFORD FORDS REPAIR COSTS 580+ BUT SOME MAY TRY TO DRIVE IT AND THEY WILL GET IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE EVERY TIME MY CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE. SEEMED TO HAPPEN RIGHT AFTER I FILLED UP. RESEARCHED INTERNET FOR "2007 FORD EDGE FUEL SMELL" AND FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND WHAT LOOKS LIKE A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR (OEM FUEL TANK AVERAGES $1700 PLUS LABOR). TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND FOUND OUT THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. REQUESTING A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED IT JERKING AND HESITATING TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT BECAME BLINKING RAPIDLY AND I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. I TOOK MY CAR TO A SHOP, WHO STATED THAT ONE OF THE COILS HAD MELTED AND CRACKED. THEY REPLACED THE COILS AND ALL SPARK PLUGS. PICKED MY VEHICLE UP AND STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUES, CONSTANT JERKING, ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON, AND STILL NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE. TOOK VEHICLE BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY, SHOP STATED THE PCM WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, WHO CLAIMED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE, AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR THEM TO RUN THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT, EVEN THOUGH I WAS WELL AWARE OF WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE CAR IS STILL NOT FIXED, AND RUNS HORRIBLY. I REFUSE TO SPEND ANYMORE MONEY ON A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF!!! *TR
HEAVY GAS FUMES PERMEATING GARAGE, HOUSE AND CAR. FOUND THAT GAS TANK IS SEVERELY RUSTED, OR "ROTTED" AS THE DEALER SAID, IN SEVERAL PLACES. $2100 TO FIX. CAR IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD! NOT EVEN DUE FOR A TUNE UP YET. THERE ARE OVER 200 COMPLAINTS ON YOUR SITE OF OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH SAME ISSUE. FORD SAYS THEY CAN DO NOTHING BUT "DOCUMENT IT." DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE DRIVING ON A SUPER-HIGHWAY AND HAVE THE TANK FALL OFF THE CAR AND GET KILLED OR HAVE THEIR HOUSE EXPLODE BEFORE FORD DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT?! PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU. *TR
WIFE FILLED HER 2007 FORD EDGE WITH GAS FOR A TRIP WE WERE TAKING THE FOLLOWING DAY BROUGHT VEHICLE HOME SMELL STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE NOTICED GAS TANK IS LEAKING COME TO FIND OUT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF THE SAME VEHICLES AND FORD REFUSES TO RECALL AND FIX DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THESE GAS TANKS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL FUMES WERE PRESENT IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAKAGE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 11/12/14*LJ
AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR MY 2007 FORD EDGE WOULD NOT GO FORWARD (ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN). I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED SEVERAL MORE TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY. NOT KNOWING WHAT ELSE TO DO I PRESSED HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IT STARTED AGAIN. THAT HAPPENED 6 MONTHS AGO. IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS IT HAS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES. TODAY, IT TOOK A DIFFERENT TURN. THE CAR SHIFTED WITH DIFFICULTY, THE WRENCH ICON LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND THEN RODE SLUGGISHLY TIL I GOT HOME (ABOUT 4 MILES). I LEFT THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR 30 MINUTES - WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE WRENCH ICON WAS OFF AND THE CAR RAN FINE. UPON A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM ALSO NOT ALONE WITH GETTING NO HELP FROM FORD. I WOULD GLADLY HAVE IT REPAIRED BUT MY DEALER APPEARS CLUELESS AND SAID THEY CANNOT FIX IT IF IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN IT'S AT THEIR GARAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND FEELS LIKE PLAYING ROULETTE WITH MY LIFE. I BELIEVE I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE EDGE DECIDES TO STOP. HEARD A HISSING NOISE WHILE STOPPED. AT MY NEXT STOP, BRAKES BECAME HARD TO PRESS DOWN. CONTINUED TO HAVE DIFFICULTY WITH BRAKES STOPPING BECAUSE THEY WERE HARD TO PRESS. HUSBAND REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER AND THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. AFTER FILLING UP THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL THE PREVIOUS DAY, THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE GARAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. UPDATED 10/8/14*CN
STRONG FUEL SMELL COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. FUEL IS LEAKING SLIGHTLY AT SEAM AND HAS STRONG VAPOR SMELLS. HASN'T BEEN OVERFILLED. I CAN NOT PARK THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE ANYMORE DUE TO THE DANGER OF THE VAPORS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. TO MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED ON THIS ISSUE, SO WHY HAS A RECALL NOT BEEN ISSUED? *TR
UPON REPLACING A BURNED OUT TAIL LITE I NOTICED THE SOCKET WHICH HOLDS THE BULB WAS MELTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH SIDES OF TAIL LITES. *TR
GAS TANK IS FAILING. TANK LEAKS DUE TO SEVER RUST, AND ALONG SEAMS OF TANK. ALSO LEADS TO A STRONG ODOR OF GAS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. THIS IS THE VEHICLE WE USE TO TRANSPORT OUR CHILDREN. I'VE. NOTICED FUEL ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE, BIG PUDDLE. VERY UNSAFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK DUE TO RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE RUST WAS DUE TO CORROSION OF THE FUEL TANK. THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED REPEATEDLY WITH A DELAYED RESPONSE. THE MALFUNCTIONED RECURRED WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. HARD TO PUSH ON THE PEDAL AND VERY FIRM. STOP CAR AND RESTART IT'S OK UNTIL YOU DRIVE AND STOP AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NON-DRIVABLE. *TR
2007 FORD EDGE SEL FACTORY STEREO SYSTEM ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTED OUT AND KILLED BATTERY. TRIED TO START CAR AND BATTERY WAS DEAD TRIED TO JUMP AND WAS NOT ABLE, PUT NEW BATTERY ON VEHICLE AND THE FACTORY STEREO SYSTEM STARTED SMOKING AND MY NOW DECEASED HUSBAND HAD TO QUICKLY PULL PUT THE STEREO SYSTEM AND OFF THE NEW BATTERY. THE EYE TO SYSTEM SHORTED OUT AND FRIED THE BATTERY BURNT THE WIRING AND STARTED TO CATCH FIRE WHEN REPLACED BATTERY. NOW HAVE NEW BATTERY ON VEHICLE AND NO FACTORY STEREO SYSTEM JUST A HOLE TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IN THE DASH BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT OF FACTORY ISSUES. PLEASE HELP.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND SLOWING DOWN, THE CAR SUDDENLY JERKED FORWARD LIKE SOMEONE REAR ENDED ME. PARKED THE CAR AND TESTED NEXT DAY, SAME RESULT. MADE APPOINTMENT WITH LOCAL FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY PULLED CODES P0720 AND P0722 AND FOLLOWED TSB 07-21-11. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. REPLACED OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR AND TURBINE SPEED SENSOR. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AFTER BILL OF $1145.31 AND NOW CAR WILL ONLY DRIVE IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR SO IT IS ALMOST USELESS. *TR
SUDDENLY SMELLED GAS WHEN PARKED IN MY GARAGE. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK IS CORRODED AND THE WHOLE TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I NOW SEE ON FORUMS THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS CAR, SAME YEAR, SAME PROBLEM AND THAT FORD DENIES IT BEING A DEFECT. NO CAR SHOULD HAVE CORROSION ON THE GAS TANK AFTER JUST 7 YEARS!! FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND OFFER REPLACEMENT TANKS FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO MOVE FORWARD TO FIGHT FORD FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THIS HEFTY REPAIR EXPENSE. *TR

SMELLING GAS FUMES. LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND GAS WAS LEAKING FROM FUEL TANK. *TR
FUEL TANK LEAKING GAS LAYING IN SHIELD PAN UNDER CAR AND THEN OVER FLOWING ONTO GARAGE FLOOR TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO HAVE THE WHOLE TANK REPLACED !! ONLY 62000 MILES ON CAR AND 7 YEARS OLD GARAGE KEPT THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE THE TANK!!!! *TR
A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED (PER MY MECHANIC), CAUSING THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS TO MALFUNCTION. IT BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE CAR, WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSING AND TRAVELING NEARLY TO THE FLOORBOARD. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE CAR JUST BEFORE RUNNING A RED LIGHT BY STANDING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PADS WERE AT ~50% PER A RECENT STATE INSPECTION. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN FEBRUARY 2015 WHEN ANOTHER WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. I WAS ABLE TO TEMPORARILY RESOLVE THE ISSUE BY PULLING THE ABS FUSE TO DISABLE THE ABS SYSTEM. FORD'S R&M ENGINEERS MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN TO PERFORM A FAILURE MODE ANALYSIS ON THE EDGE'S ABS SYSTEM.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD EDGE WITH 3 CHILDREN IN IT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST THE ABILITY TO NOT ONLY ACCELERATE BUT MY SPEED SUDDENLY FELL FROM 45 MILES AN HOUR TO 15 MILES AN HOUR WITHOUT ANY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. MY CAR WAS IN A CONSTANT STATE OF SHAKING AND SPUTTERING AND INCREASED WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THERE WAS SOMETHING SIGNIFICANTLY WRONG AND IT WAS PRETTY SCARY TO EXPERIENCE PARTICULARLY WITH 3 SMALL CHILDREN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE COMPANY WHERE THE CAR'S SOFTWARE SYSTEM DISPLAYED CODES INDICATING TWO IGNITION CODES FAILED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE SERVICE PROVIDER REPLACED ALL THE SPARK PLUGS AND TWO COILS. THE CAR WAS NOT FIXED AND IT WAS FURTHER DETERMINED THAT THE PCM BOARD IS SENDING EXTREMELY HIGH CURRENT TO THE IGNITION COILS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ENGINE FIRE. THIS IS VERY DISTRESSING. FORD HAS ISSUED AN INTERNAL TSB ACKNOWLEDGING THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT ENACTED A RECALL. THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPLACE THE PCM, SPARK PLUGS AND COILS (6) IS APPROXIMATELY $3,000. ADDITIONALLY IN MY RESEARCH THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT HAS BEEN FILED BY A GROUP OF FORD OWNERS. *TR
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
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO THEN DASH LIGHTS ALL COME ON. GET OFF HIGHWAY PULL OVER AND CAR DOES NOT MOVE. WAIT ABOUT 20 MINUTES, PUT CAR IN D, HEAR LOUD BANG, CAR LUNGES FORWARD A LITTLE THEN DRIVES NORMALLY. SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON HIGHWAY AT @60MPH WHEN SAME THING HAPPENS, GET OFF HIGHWAY AND STOP AT 2ND RED LIGHT WHEN THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. LET CAR SIT FOR @10 MIN. THEN IT STARTS GOING @10MPH, AFTER ABOUT 1 MILE RESUMES NORMAL OPERATION. HAVE BROUGHT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HAD 2 SENSORS REPLACED ALONG WITH A TRANSMISSION FLUID EXCHANGE BUT NOW TODAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I STOPPED AT BUSY BACK ROAD INTERSECTION THEN TRIED TO RESUME SPEED THE VEH. WOULD NOT MOVE. E-MAILED LOCAL FORD DEALER TO LET THEM KNOW THAT ISSUE WAS HAPPENING ONCE AGAIN AFTER SENSORS WERE REPLACED. PRIOR TO FORD ALSO HAD SEARS LOOK AT VEH. WHERE THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A SENSOR BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHICH ONE. NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS BACK TO ME IT ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE ALOT OF HESITATION ON WANTING TO GO. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER SEEMED TO BE THE BEST TRANSMISSION AND I HAVE A BIG CONCERN ABOUT HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO SOMEBODY WHO KEEPS DRIVING IT WITHOUT GETTING OFF THE ROAD? I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, MYSELF, OTHERS WHO OWN THIS VEHICLE, AND OTHERS ON THE ROADWAY AROUND THESE VEHICLES WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE POSTS I KEEP SEEING ALL REFLECT THE SAME ISSUE AND ALL TOO OFTEN THEY ARE TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, WILL IT TAKE A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR DEATH FOR THIS CONCERN TO BE ADDRESSED? A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT KEEP STOPPING OR PRODUCING LOUD BANGS AFTER IT STOPS MOVING AND I THINK THERE APPEARS TO BE ENOUGH EVIDENCE FROM ENOUGH PEOPLE WHO HAVE VOICED THEIR ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM TO WARRANT IMMEDIATE ACTION ON THIS MATTER.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON JUNE 25, 2014, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AN ISSUE THAT HAD OCCURRED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE DEALER, THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE FIRST TIME SHE NOTICED A PROBLEM, OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY STOP-AND-GO-TRAFFIC IN THE CENTER LANE. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE RPM'S DROPPED TO ZERO AND THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STOPPED. SHE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND LUCKILY IT STARTED. IT RAN A BIT SLUGGISHLY FOR A FEW MILES AND THEN RESUMED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME. *JB
MY VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED TO SLOW DOWN SUDDENLY LIKE I HAD TAKEN MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. IT STARTED SHUDDERING AND MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, IT SHOWED MY CYLINDERS WERE MISFIRING. IT WAS DUE TO A BAD COIL WHICH WAS CAUSING THE SPARK PLUGS TO READ AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH VOLTAGE. THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL COILS AND ALL SPARK PLUGS. THEN FOUND OUT THAT IT FRIED MY PCM(COMPUTER) WHICH ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. COME TO FIND OUT, THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THE 2007 FORD EDGE AND THERE IS A TSB ON IT FOR THIS EXACT SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE PCM HAD A MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSED THE COILS/SPARK PLUGS TO GO BAD. THEY ALSO SAID THE PCM HAS A MANUFACTURER 8 YEAR/80,000 MILE WARRANTY. WELL I WAS AT 7 YEARS/83000 MILES AND WHEN THEY SUBMITTED THE WARRANTY CLAIM, FORD DENIED IT FORCING ME TO PAY $2400 FOR THE REPAIRS. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO DENY A KNOWN MALFUNCTION FOR ONLY 3000 MILES OVER. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAME TO A STOP? I HAD MY SON WITH ME THAT DAY AND THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT, POSSIBLY INVOLVING OTHER DRIVERS, AND WE MAY HAVE EVEN BEEN INJURED. AND FORD DOESN'T FEEL RESPONSIBLE TO HELP WITH THE COST OF THIS REPAIR?? *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE COILS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN BURNED AND ADDITIONAL REPAIRS WERE REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT RAPIDLY AND THE AIR CONDITIONING BEGAN TO PUT OUT HOT AIR. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD AND TURNED EVERYTHING OFF. UPON COOLING DOWN, WATER WAS ADDED TO THE RADIATOR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC. THE PROBLEM WAS AN INTERNAL WATER PUMP. THE WATER PUMP COST $1900 TO HAVE REPLACED. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING, IT IS THE DESIGN AND HOW YOU HAVE TO ACCESS THE WATER PUMP. I PRICED (3) DIFFERENT DEALERS ON THE REPAIR AND THEY WERE ALL WITHIN A FEW DOLLARS OF EACH OTHER. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RELIABLE. *TR

I WAS GOING TO WORK.MY CAR THEN JERKED AND STOPPED. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BECAUSE IT JUST LOST POWER. VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS/FUEL. HAS IT TAKEN TO BODY SHOP 2 TIMES TO CHECK FOR A FUEL LEAK IN LINES, NOTHING FOUND. CONTINUED TO SMELL GAS, CAUSING SEVERE HEADACHES IN MYSELF, MY 6 YEAR OLD AND MY 3 YEAR OLD. SEVERAL TRIPS TO ER AND URGENT CARE FOR HEADACHES, NO CAUSE FOUND AFTER MANY XRAYS AND MRI SCANS. RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED 12/14 FOR FUEL TANK DEFECT. VEHICLE IMPOUNDED AT LOCAL DEALER UNTIL UNSPECIFIED TIME TO BE FIXED. ESTIMATED TIME TO FIX 8/15. WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH OR GREATER, THE CAR IS SKIPPING, JERKING OR HESITATING. THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE BUT NOW HAPPENS EVEN ON LEVEL ROAD AND HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES DURING A 16 MILE DRIVE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS UNABLE TO PIN POINT THE ISSUE AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. THE OTHER DAY WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING AN ORANGE ENGINE EMISSION LIGHT WAS BLINKING. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR OVER A YEAR AND ALL THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN SAY IS THAT IT IS A BAD ENGINE COIL BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE. FROM THE LOOKS OF OTHER FORMS, I AM NOT THE ONLY 2007 FORD EDGE OWNER THIS IS HAPPING TO AND IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND RECALL IT.

MASSIVE AMOUNT OF OBD CODES, HAD MECHANIC REMOVE TRANSMISSION, TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE AND THRUST BEARING DESTROYED, I FEEL VERY LUCKY THAT TRANSMISSION DIDN'T FAIL ON HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT ON MY WAY TO WORK AS A CHILDRENS SWIM INSTRUCTOR. *TR

THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE DOOR IS CLEARLY SHUT, BUT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT SHOWS ON DASH BOARD ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYING ON. THE MAIN CONCERN IS WHEN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT / SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING, THE DOOR WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. EVEN IF YOU PUSH THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE CHILDREN CAN OPEN THE DOOR OR A STRANGER CAN HOP IN THE CAR. SUPPOSEDLY THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF FORD'S, AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED OR RECALLED. *TR
