THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE..ANYONE SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE IS AT RISK OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH IF THE INFLATOR DEVICE FAILS! PLEASE TAKE ACTION TO GET THIS RECALL UNDERWAY IMMEDIATELY.

TAKATA RECALL'', I RECEIVED A LETTER LAST YEAR ABOUT THE AIRBAG RECALL AND NEVER HEARD ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL OCTOBER 2017 A POSTCARD SAYING THE TAKATA COMPANY HAS FILED BANKRUPT AND THE PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE. I GET A LETTER IN DECEMBER STATING THAT THE PARTS ARE STILL UNAVAILABLE AND MAYBE BY SPRING 2018 I SHOULD GET MY AIRBAG REPLACED ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND I WAS ALSO INSTRUCTED NOT TO HAVE ANY PASSENGERS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OR THE AIRBAG WILL ERUPT AND COULD CAUSE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. I WAS READING IN THE NEWSPAPER ABOUT THE SAME AIRBAG IN HONDA AND THE DRIVER AIRBAG ERUPTED AND THE DRIVER WAS KILLED, HOW AM I SURPOSE TO BELIEVE THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE IS ONLY DEFECTED AND NOT BOTH. I ALSO USE MY CAR FOR MY JOB, I TRANSPORT ME CLIENTS TO THEIR OUTING, AND APPOINTMENTS THIS IS CERTAINLY A INCONVENIENCE TO ME AND POSSIBLY NOT HAVING A JOB. IT IS NOW FEBRUARY 2018, NEARLY 2 YEARS LATER AND FORD STATES THAT PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. FORD HAS ADVISED ME TO "NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT." IT IS COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE FOR ME TO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS AND STILL NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THIS RECALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND IT IS NOT BEING HANDLED IN A "TIMELY MANNER" AS REQUIRED BY THE NHTSA.

IN RECENT WEEKS, CAR AT TIMES SEEMED TO SLIP SLIGHTLY WHILE SHIFTING OR THERE WAS A HARD, LAGGING SHIFT. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, INFO/TRIP READOUT ON DASH SHOWED DASHES INSTEAD OF NUMBERS. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS SHOWED ON DASH, INCLUDING PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT, A WRENCH ICON, THEN THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ICON. READOUT THEN CHANGED TO A TIRE PRESSURE FAULT MESSAGE. PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND AFTER MAKING A TURN, CAR SEEMED UNDER-POWERED/ACCELERATION WAS COMPROMISED. STOPPED AT A SERVICE STATION, TURNED OFF THE CAR, THEN RESTARTED. AFTER RESTARTING, WARNING ICONS ON DASH DISAPPEARED. WHEN CAR WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY AND LOUD 'CLUNKING' NOISE OCCURRED. SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF REVERSE, WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL STATIONARY, JERKING BECAME EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED AND CLUNKING NOISE BECAME LOUDER. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALER - AFTER DIAGNOSIS, WAS TOLD 2 SENSORS (THE TSS & OSS) IN THE TRANSMISSION WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, WAS TOLD FAN MODULE WAS ALSO FAULTY, NEEDED REPLACING. APPROXIMATELY $1700 IN REPAIRS AND WAS WITHOUT THE CAR FOR OVER A WEEK. AFTER RESEARCHING ISSUE ONLINE, CAME ACROSS MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM IN FORD EDGES, ALMOST ALWAYS AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE (APPROX. 77,800) AND FOR VARIOUS YEARS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL! TO BE HONEST, THOUGH THE CAR IS OPERATING NORMALLY AT THE MOMENT, I HAVE LITTLE TO NO CONFIDENCE THAT THIS SENSOR REPAIR ACTUALLY FIXES THE PROBLEM LONG TERM AS SOME ANECDOTAL RESEARCH SEEMS TO SHOW THAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED A RETURN OF THE ISSUE EVEN AFTER THE SENSOR REPLACEMENT. I BELIEVE THIS SITUATION WARRANTS INVESTIGATION BY NHTSA AS FORD WILL DENY/IGNORE THE PROBLEM UNTIL FORCED TO ADDRESS IT. TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE AND NOT ONLY IS IT COSTLY, BUT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AS WELL.
AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE (ROUGHLY A FEW HOURS) THE EDGE DOES THIS HARD JERK FORWARD THAT FEELS LIKE I'M PRACTICALLY BEING REAR ENDED. IT'S LIKE A HARD PAUSE, BEFORE IT JERKS FORWARD. THEN IT GRADUALLY ACCELERATES. ALSO, ON A FEW OCCASIONS, WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE EDGE DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE THOUGH I WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS. MIND YOU, I WASN'T GOING FAST BECAUSE I HAD BARELY PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING STALL WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IT BARELY ACCELERATED THEN GRADUALLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE IN DRIVE. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY ONCE. I INITIALLY THOUGHT MY BATTERY WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT I HAD IT REPLACED THE FOLLOWING MORNING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. THIS WAS THE SAME RESPONSE I GOT WHEN I'VE TAKEN IT TO FORD DURING THE TERM OF MY WARRANTY. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IF THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" ISN'T ON, NOR IF YOU'RE NOT PAID OUT OF POCKET, FORD DOES NOT RECOGNIZE A PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS QUITE WORRISOME CONSIDERING I'D HATE TO BE STRANDED WITH MY CHILDREN IN AN INTERSECTION. I LIVE IN A VERY TOWN (LOS ANGELES COUNTY) WHERE TRAFFIC IS STEADY AND AGGRESSIVE SO KNOWING THIS PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME IS UNSETTLING, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED ONCE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO PROCEED WITH TRAFFIC AT A GREEN LIGHT. 2008 FORD EDGE, PURCHASE IN 2012
I OWN A 2008 EDGE WITH APPROX. 150,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAS STALLED ON ME 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3-4 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR STALLED I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CARE AND MOVE IT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY BEFORE IT STALLED AGAIN. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED, I WAS TOLD THAT THE WATER PUMP HAD CRACKED. THE WATER PUMP INVOLVED A LOT OF LABOR AND COST ME ABOUT $1100-$1200 WITH THE TOW. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, I WAS AGAIN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR STALLED. AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY WAY OFF THE FREEWAY BEFORE THE CAR DIED COMPLETELY. ONCE AGAIN, I HAD TO HAVE THE CARE TOWED. THIS TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE APPEARED TO HAVE COOLANT IN THE OIL AND CREATED A MURKY GOO. MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ANOTHER $2200. THE LAST INCIDENT WAS FRIDAY, MAY 20TH. I HAD NO INDICATION THERE WAS A PROBLEM OF ANY KIND. I LITERALLY DROVE LESS THAN HALF A MILE WHEN THE CARE OVERHEATED AND STALLED. I CALLED AND EMAILED FORD TO SEE IF I COULD GET ANY ASSISTANCE, BUT HAVE EITHER HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE OR AN EMAIL INDICATING THAT IF THE CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR IF NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED, I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I AM OUT OF MONEY AND OPTIONS. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND FEEL INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED BY THIS SITUATION. I FIND IT ABSURD THAT A VEHICLE WOULD GET A BLOWN ENGINE WITH NO WARNING AND THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. I AM FACING ANOTHER $1200 OR SO IN VEHICLE REPAIRS.
TURNED ON CAR AND PUT IT IN REVERSE THEN DRIVE WHEN PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOT,. TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD "CLUNK". PRESSED HARD ON GAS BUT CAR WOULD BARELY CRAWL. SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING RPMS WOULD INCREASE DRAMATICALLY, WRENCH, CHECK ENGINE, AIRBAG, AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. CONTINUING ON CITY STREET PROBLEM REMAINED. CAR EVENTUALLY GAINED ENOUGH SPEED THAT RPMS WENT DOWN, BUT THE SPEEDOMETER STILL DID NOT WORK. THE NEXT DAY, THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED EXCEPT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON.
WRENCH APPEARED ON DASH. CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" WOULD NOT ACCELERATE RAPIDLY. SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT REGISTER.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN GIVEN GAS. MULTIPLE LIGHTS WENT ON THE DASH BOARD. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE CAR LITERALLY JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE IN MOTION. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A FAULTY OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE THAT MANY FORD EDGE OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING BUT FORD IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I SHOULD ALSO BE REIMBURSED BY FORD FOR THE REPAIR.

MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS HALF WAY OUT MY INDICATOR ON MY DASHBOARD STAY ON CAUSE OF IT AND IT WAS SAID THAT IT CAN DEPLOY AT ANYTIME SO MY KIDS AND SOMETIMES FRIEND'S AND/OR HUSBAND HAVE TO RIDE IN THE BACK CAUSE THEY'RE AFRAID OF THE AIRBAG MIGHT DEPLOY. WE TRIED TO PUSH THE RUBBER SEAL BACK OVER IT BUT ITS NO USE.I INCLOSED SOME PICTURES OF THE TRUCK.CAN NOT SAY WHEN IT REALLY HAPPENED.
MY EDGE STARTED SLIPPING WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE SO I WOULD TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT ON UNTIL THE SLIPPING STOPPED AFTER I PLACED IT IN A GEAR. AFTER CHECKING FOR RECALLS I SAW SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THE ODOMETER SCREED DID SIMILAR CHECK AS OTHERS COMING UP WITH DASHES AND CYCLING AND CHECKING THROUGH PROCESSES. THE CAR WAS RECENTLY DRIVEN AND THE SAME SLIPPING HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME IT CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS I'VE READ ARE IN THE SAME MILEAGE RANGE.
TAKATA INFLATORS ** - 2 YEARS AND NO REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS FOR MY VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN RECOMMENDED TO NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS NOW MAKES MY VEHICLE A 4 PASSENGER CAR (IF YOU SWISH 3 PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT). NEW AIRBAGS WERE TO BE AVAILABLE IN SPRING 2018. NOW I RECEIVE ANOTHER NOTICE THAT THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT WILL PROBABLY BE ANOTHER 3 TO 6 MONTHS. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET WITH HOW THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN HANDLED AND LOOKS LIKE IT IS NOW TIME TO GET LEGAL ASSISTANCE. I HAVE BEEN MORE THAN PATIENT.
