TAKATA RECALL CONTACTED GRANBURY,TX FORD DEALERSHIP IN THE SPRING OF 2016. AND WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR RECALL LETTER. NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTER. CONTACTED GRANBURY FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN OCTOBER 2017, WAS TOLD PARTS STILL NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. MAC HAIK FORD (10333 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77024, (713) 932-5000) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE EMERGING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE STALLED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE, THE VEHICLE STARTED, SURGED, AND THEN STALLED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
SAME COMPLAINTS AS PLENTY OF OTHERS. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP WITH *ODO ERROR*, THE LITTLE SCREWDRIVER LIGHT CAME ON, SHOWS LOW TIRE PRESSURE, THE SEATBELT/AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ODOMETER STAYED AT ZERO. I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND WHEN I PARKED IT, RESTARTED IT AND TRIED TO CHANGE GEARS IT SHOOK THE CAR SO HARD AND WAS SO LOUD IT COULD BE HEARD INSIDE THE BUILDING. SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THIS MODEL / YEAR OF VEHICLE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO MY CAR. THE FIRST TIME IT RESET ITSELF SO THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SO NOW IF I PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP AND IT RESETS ITSELF BEFORE THEY CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, WHICH IS LOOKS AS IF NOBODY CAN FIGURE IT OUT, THEN ITS WASTED MONEY ON A TOW AND A HUGE RISK THAT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I'M IN SHOCK TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. AS SOON AS I TYPED IN "ODO ERROR" IN GOOGLE IT AUTO FILLED MY EXACT CAR - I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO TYPE IT, SO EVEN GOOGLE KNOWS THIS IS A MAJOR MALFUNCTION.
I HAVE HAD TO CONSTANTLY REPLACE THE BULB FOR THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT ENCLOSURE. THE BULB BLOWS OUT SHORTLY AFTER REPLACING. MOST RECENTLY IT WAS CHANGED ON APRIL 4TH AND BLEW OUT APRIL 6TH
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET CAME TO STOP AT STOP SIGN WENT TO PROCEED VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AIR BAG LIGHT ON NO ODO DATA WHERE ODOMETER MILEAGE SHOULD BE ROLLED CAR TO CURB NO RESPONSE FROM TRANSMISSION HUT OFF CAR WAITED A MIN OR TWO RESTARTED CAR BACK TO NORMAL ADVISED DEALER TOOK CAR IN A DAY LATER AFTER 2 DAYS OF TEST DRIVING CAR HAD SAME ISSUE FOR THEM DEALER RETRIEVED PROBLEM CODE P0722 FOUND BOTH OSS AND TSS SENSORS SHORTED BOTH SENSORS REPLACED CAR OK NOW COST $835.00 THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE HURT OR KILLED THANK GOD I WAS ON CITY STREET AT TIME OF ISSUE NOT ON HIGHWAY DEALER WOULD NOT TEST ON HIGHWAY DID NOT WANT TO HAVE TO PAY FOR TOW TRUCK
THE CAR JERKS INTO GEAR IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. WHEN THE CAR IS STILL AND PUSHING ON THE GAS TO BEGIN TO DRIVE, THE TACHOMETER REVS PAST 3 AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS BARING MOVING AND THE CAR IS NOT ACCELERATING. IT HARD SHIFTS INTO GEAR (DRIVE AND REVERSE) AND AT TIMES WON'T SHIFT INTO GEAR AT ALL. NO ACCELERATION IN THE CAR AND VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AS SHIFTING INTO GEARS IS HARD AND JERKS THE CAR.
SAME COMPLAINT AS DOZENS OF OTHER 2008 FORD EDGE OWNERS. ODO ERROR COMES UP, ALMOST ALL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, TACH AND SPEEDOMETER GO TO ZERO AND CAR IS STUCK IN GEAR MAKING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BUT IS STARTING TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY AND USUALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS ASAP BEFORE PEOPLE ARE SERIOUSLY INJURED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER. A WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT PLACED THE GEAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE LATER RESTARTED. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER WHO REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE BROUGHT IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,700.
THE CAR LOST POWER WHEN ENTERING THE FREEWAY. IT WAS MISFIRING AND WAS NOT ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED LIMIT. THE REPAIR SHOP FOUND THE COIL WAS MELTED AND CRACKED. THE ENGINE MISFIRED #6 CYLINDER. THE PCM MODULE DID NOT SHUT DOWN THE CYLINDER TO PREVENT THE MISFIRE, WHICH RESULTED IN THE DESTRUCTION OF THE IGNITION COIL, AND PCM MODULE. THE NEW PCM MODULE HAD TO BE PURCHASED FROM FORD AS NO AFTER MARKET EXISTED. THE REPAIR BILL WAS OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS. WE WERE TOLD THIS COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE. HOPING THE NEW MODULE WORKS PROPERLY.
BRAKE PEDAL BECAME "MOOSHY" AND WHEN DEPRESSED WOULD MAKE A HISSING SOUND. THE VEHICLE TOOK EXTRA TIME/LENGTH TO STOP. TOOK TO DEALER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND SIMILAR PROBLEM AND ACTUAL RECALL AND EXTENDED WARRANTY BY FORD FOR LATER MODEL YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
BOUGHT MY 2008 EDGE IN 2012 AND EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH ODO READ ERROR MESSAGE AND LOSS OF POWER SHORTLY THERE AFTER. IT HAPPENS MOST FREQUENTLY ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED (60- 70 MPH). I HAVE HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY MULTIPLE TIMES AND RESTART THE CAR. HAVE HEARD FROM A FEW THAT THE SENSORS IN THE TRANSMISSION ARE SHORTING OUT BUT HAVE HEARD OTHER THINGS AS WELL. DEALERS REFUSES TO LOOK INTO PROBLEM AND STATES SINCE LIGHT IS NOT ON THAT THEY CANNOT READ THE CODE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO KEEP SPEED AND GAIN SPEED ONCE THIS LIGHT COMES ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED HEAD ON INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES AND THE BACK SEAT PASSENGER HAD LACERATIONS ON THE FACE AND BROKEN GLASSES. ALSO, THE REAR SEAT BELT FAILED TO TIGHTEN. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. UPDATED 04/22/16*LJ
FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL, DOME LIGHTS STAYING ON EVEN WHILE NIGHT DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A PARKED VEHICLE WHILE MAKING A SHARP RIGHT TURN. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG EXPLODED AND CUT THE CONTACT'S FACE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE CONTACT WAS ACCUSED OF A HIT AND RUN CRASH BY THE POLICE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TAKATA RECALL. THE WEBSITE SAYS TO FILE A COMPLAINT IF REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I HAVE 17-YEAR OLD TWINS WHO SHARE THE CAR AND IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE WE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, YET PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. WE LIKELY CANNOT SELL THE CAR DUE TO THE RECALL. I'D SAY THIS IS NOT TIMELY.
TRANSMISSION, AND TRANSFER-CASE LEAKING DIRECTLY ON THE EXHAUST RIGHT BY THE MANIFOLD AND PROFESSIONAL STATED IT WAS SEVERE FIRE HAZARD AND NOT DRIVE IT, AND ALSO THE REAR MAIN ENGINE OIL SEAL IS LEAKING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF ALL THE ISSUES AND MANIPULATED ME AS A FEMALE INTO PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP ARGUED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND THAT I HAD A 3 MONTH 3,000 MILE WARRANTY WHEN IN FACT MY PURCHASE AGREEMENT STATED IT WAS AS IS. WHICH MEANS THEY LIED TO ME. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP WHO INSPECTED MY VEHICLE STATED THAT THE LEAKS HAVE BEEN ONGOING FOR QUITE SOMETIME BEFORE I EVEN PURCHASED THE CAR. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2015 AND ALREADY HAVE MADE SIX PAYMENTS AND NOW I AM PAYING FOR SOMETHING THAT I CAN NOT EVEN DRIVE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME SO IT HAD TO BE RETURNED AGAIN. IT IS GOING ON THE FOURTH WEEK. I DO HAVE A LONER BUT I HAVE ALREADY SPENT OVER $300.00 IN GAS. I ONLY HAVE ONE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME AND THAT IS THE FORD EDGE AND IT IS VERY UPSETTING TO THINK THAT I HAVE MADE 3 COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUES TO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT THE FIRE HAZARD ISSUE AND HAVE HAD NO SATISFACTION OR RESULTS OTHER THEN THEY CLAIM IT THE DEALERS PROBLEM. I HAVE DONE NUMEROUS RESEARCH ABOUT HIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ISSUES REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION LEAK ON THE EXHAUST AS A FIRE HAZARD. IS THIS GOING TO BE LIKE GENERAL MOTORS, AND WAIT FOR SOMEONES CAR TO ACTUALLY CATCH FIRE??? OR IS IT GOING TO BE LIKE GENERAL MOTORS AND WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO BE KILLED BEFORE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS OUT THERE REGARDING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. I AM BASICALLY PAYING FOR A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE AT ALL.
I HAVE A 2008 FORD EDGE LIMITED. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I WOULD GET STUCK IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN TRY TO GO. THIS HAS HAPPENED QUITE A FEW TIMES. MY MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING GARAGE AND NEEDING TO BACK UP. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE. IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES MOVING FROM NEUTRAL TO REVERSE FOR IT TO FINALLY CATCH WITH A HARD JERK.

THE CONTACT HEARD THE SOUND OF AIR ESCAPING WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND A HISSING SOUND WAS HEARD UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE COASTED UNTIL IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE MECHANIC AWAITING REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COIL AND THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.

AFTER THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENDING UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 178,000.
BACK HATCH DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON EVEN WHEN CLOSED. THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A LONG TIME AS A RESULT.
CAR LOSES ALL POWER UNEXPECTEDLY AND RANDOMLY, AT ANY AND ALL SPEEDS, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, DISPLAYING ODO DATA ERROR, TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY SHAKES INTO GEARS, CAR REVS UP BUT DOES NOT ACCELARATE, UPON TURNING CAR OFF, REMOVING KEY, OPENING DOOR, REINSERTING AND RESTARTING CAR (IF YOU MANAGED TO SAFELY PULL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD), ALL ERROR DISPLAYS DISAPPEAR, TRANSMISSION CLUNKS IN GEAR AND CAR NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO REV UP TO RESET, ONCE IT RESETS CAR DRIVES NORMALLY AGAIN TILL NEXT FAILURE. FORD DEALERS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM AS IT LEAVES NO CODES. FIRST TIME CHARGED $800 FOR "POSSIBLE" CAUSE THAT WASN'T, NOW $1700 AS PCM MELTED AND TOOK ALONG WITH IT ALL IGNITION COILS. GUESS WHAT, ODO DATA ERROR AND TRANSMISSION TROUBLE STILL PRESENT. BOTH THE FORD COMPANY AND YOU PEOPLE AT THE NHTSA NEED TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND IF FORD DOESN'T VOLUNTARILY RECALL THE EDGE, YOU OUGHT TO FORCE THEM TO RECALL IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS MAULED. THIS AUTO DEFECT IS AN ABSOLUTE DANGER TO THE OPERATOR AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD.
THE SUNROOF STAYS OPEN AND CANNOT CLOSE UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND MANUALLY FORCED CLOSE. THE SUNROOF MECHANISM TO CLOSE TO GLASS BREAKS EASILY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF, BUT IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. THE DEALERSHIP IS WANTING TO CHARGE BETWEEN $1900 - $2500 TO FIX AND TWO PLASTIC CLIPS THAT CLOSE THE SUNROOF, BECAUSE THEY ARE INDICATED THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRACK SYSTEM, AS THE SPECIFIC SMALL PART THAT NEEDS REPLACING IS NOT AVAILABLE.
12/13/15 THE FIRST TIME THE ODO ERROR LIGHT CAME ON, IT TRIGGERED OTHER LIGHTS SUCH AS TIRE SENSOR, AIRBAG DEPLOYED TO COME ON AFTER THE ODO ERROR WENT AWAY. ODOMETER DIDN'T WORK. TURNED CAR OFF,CAR WOULD CLUNK HEAVILY WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. TOOK TO DEALER THEY SWITCHED OUT CABLE HARNESS AND BATTERY.PROBLEM WENT AWAY. 1/18/16 ODO ERROR LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH SAME O OTHER LIGHTS AS BEFORE, NO ODOMETER. VEHICLE WOULD NOT GET OUT OF SECOND GEAR,( TURNED OFF WHEN ARRIVED HOME). NEXT MORNING HARD CLUNKING INTO REVERSE JUST LIKE PREVIOUSLY VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY NO IN MOTION. SEEMED TO STAY IN 2ND GEAR AGAIN. TURNED INTO MY HUSBANDS SHOP, GARAGE WHERE THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE OKAY. DROVE TO WORK NO BIG ISSUES SO FAR. READ UP ON LINE THAT 100'S OF CONSUMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE AND THE 2008 IN PARTICULAR SEEMS TO BE THE WORST.
MY CAR HAS MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME. MY DASH SAYS ODO SYSTEM FAIL, THEN IS SAYS THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAILS, THE WRENCH FOR TRANSMISSION COMES ON, THEN THE TIRE PRESSURE SYMBOL COMES ON AND FLASHES, THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THEN MY ODOMETER GOES TO ZERO. IF I SLOW DOWN TO A STOP SIGN OR SOMETHING, I PUSH THE GAS AND THE RPM'S ON MY CAR GO WAY UP BUT MY CAR HARDLY MOVES. ONCE I GET GOING TO A HIGHER SPEED, THE RPM'S GO DOWN...IT IS ALMOST LIKE IT IS STUCK IN A HIGH GEAR. THEN WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO DRIVE AFTER IT WAS IN PARK, MY CAR JOLTS AND MAKES A HUGE CLANKING NOISE. IF I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON, IT MAKES A LOUD CLANKING NOISE BUT ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS TURN OFF EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEN WHEN I PUSH THE GAS AGAIN, IT IS STILL BARELY MOVING AND IN HIGH RPM'S BUT IT WILL RANDOMLY KICK INTO WHATEVER GEAR IT NEEDS TO BE IN AND MAKE ANOTHER LOUD CLANKING SOUND AND RUN FINE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM NOT SURE WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. THIS HAPPENED TO ME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR WAY STOP AND I BLOCKED THE INTERSECTION AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. THIS IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO CAUSE GREAT HARM OR EVEN DEATH TO SOMEONE.
OUR VEHICLE BEGAN TO STUTTER WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND THEN SUDDENLY TURNED OFF WHILE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. ONCE THE ENGINE TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP PROBLEM WAS NOTED AS A FAULTY PCM WHICH CAUSED THE COILS TO OVERHEAT AND CAUSE BOTH THE PCM AND COIL TO FAIL. COILS WAS SEVERELY MELTED FROM OVERHEATING AND MAY HAVE EVENTUALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. FORD WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND STATES THAT THE MANUFACTURE DATE WAS ACKNOWLEDGED IN A TSB 14-0059 BUT THAT THERE IS NO RESPONSIBILITY OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY END. COST TO REPAIR WAS $3000 DUE TO TSB STATING THAT CUSTOMER NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL COILS AND PCM WITH A UNIT THAT DOES NOT CAUSE OVERHEATING AND LOSS OF POWER TO CAR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, 2008 FORD EDGE SEL AWD NOVEMBER 2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 82,000 MILES ON IT. LAST NIGHT WHEN DRIVING HOME IN VERY SLOW TRAFFIC 5 TO 10 MPH DUE TO SNOW ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRAFFIC PICKED UP SPEED I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AS THE RPM PICKED UP BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF LOW. MY FORD EDGE ACTED LIKE IT WOULDN'T SHIFT UP FROM LOW SO I COULD KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO NEXT. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT ACCELERATED FINE SO I COULD KEEP UP WITH THE MAJOR TRAFFIC FLOW. AND I DID NOTICE RECENTLY IT DOES MAKE A CLUNK WHEN I SHIFT INTO REVERSE. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE HERE AS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC QUICKLY AND SAFELY AND HAVING TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IF THERE EVEN IS A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER TOO COULD BE A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS.
I WENT TO A FORD DEALER IN DOVER DELAWARE IN JANUARY 2016 TO HAVE THE FUEL TAN K INSPECTED FOR LEAKS. IT PASSED BUT WAS NOT UPDATED IN THE SAFECAR RECALL DATABASE.
TAKATA RECALL. MY DAUGHTERS FORD EDGE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER THAT SAID THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS RECALLED. THE DRIVERS WAS NOT, ONLY THE PASSENGER. SHE IS IN COLLEGE AND FREQUENTLY HAS OTHER STUDENTS IN HER CAR AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OTHERS OR MY DAUGHTER IF SHE HAPPENS TO NOT BE DRIVING THE CAR AND IS A PASSENGER. 2008 FORD EDGE SEL....WITH 6F50 TRANSMISSION....165000 MILES.... VEHICLE SHIFTS EXTERNALLY HARD FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR WITH A HARD JERK AND LOAD KLUNK, SO MUCH SO THAT IT HAS STARTED CAUSING ME NECK PROBLEMS FROM TENSING UP IN ANTICIPATION OF THE JERK. ALSO 2 TWICE UP GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, HAD AN EXTREMLY LOAD NOISE IN TRANSMISSION THAT SHOOK THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE RPM ROSE BUT THE CAR BARELY EASED FORWARD AND THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WERE IN A BIND. I THEN PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, PULLED OUT THE KEY, OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR AS TO PRETEND I WAS EXITING, THEN PUT KEY BACK INTO IGNITION, STARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN GEAR (NO PROBLEM) AND ACCELERATED AS NORMAL (NO PROBLEM), EXCEPT WHEN IT SHIFTED FROM 3RD TO 4TH WHICH IS AROUND 25MPH. I HAVE NOT AND DO NOT HAVE ANY LIGHTS ON IN THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY PANEL NOR DO I HAVE ANY ERROR CODES SHOWING. MACANIC SAYS IT WOULD BE AN EXPENSIVE SHOT IN THE DARK TO START RANDOMLY CHANGING OUT SENSORS AND CHANGING OUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AS IT IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE MECHANICS OF THE TRANSMISSION BUT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROX 75 MPH FOR 1 HOUR, VEHICLE SUDDLENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING, ODO WENT BLANK, SPEEDO ZERO, AIRBAG AND POWERTRAIN LIGHTS CAME ON. I CUT ACROSS 6 LANES OF VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC TO EXIT AND STRUGGLED TO GET UP THE INCLINE. PARKED AT THE NEAREST LOT AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. RESTARTED WITH A LOUD CLUNK AND DASH WAS OK EXCEPT POWERTRAIN LIGHT WAS STILL ON. PUT IN REVERSE AND FELT A VIOLENT CLUNK. DROVE TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED BAD TURBINE SHAFT SPEED AND OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSORS. THEY PERFORMED THE REPAIRS AT MY COST OF $856.91. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND DROVE IT 80 MILES BACK HOME 2 DAYS LATER WITH NO PROBLEMS. TODAY, 6 DAYS LATER, I AM EXPERIENCING EXTREMELY ROUGH SHIFTING, ESPECIALLY AT AROUND 40 AND 60 MPH AND VERY BAD HESITATION WHERE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE VIBRATES AND DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT GEAR TO BE IN. NOT ONLY IS THIS VEHICLE DANGEROUS AND DEFECTIVE, THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS ARE NOT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM AND HAVE MADE IT WORSE.

IT'S OBVIOUS THAT FORD HAS AN ISSUE AND I'M NOT TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AND SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS THAT WON'T SOLVE THE ISSUE. ALTIMATELY IT SOUNDS LIKE A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND FORD WON'T RECALL TILL MOST OF THE VEHICLES ARE OUT OF SERVICE AS TO SAVE MONEY. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL FORD DRIVER FOR YEARS BUT THIS IS DEFINITELY TURNING ME TO THE COMPETITION.

I IMMEDIATELY TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS UNLESS MESSAGE WAS ON CONTROL PANEL, I WENT ON INTERNET TO SEE IF I COULD FIND OUT ANY INFO FOR THE PROBLEM. I DID FIND A GREAT MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE SAYING THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUES. I NEED TO KNOW WHO IS RESPONSIBLE BEFORE I GET KILLED. FORD SAID IT WOULD BE 1-2 MONTH WAIT ON PART. THEY SHOWED ME 3 OTHER FORD EDGES SITTING I N THE SHOP WITH SAME PROBLEM. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY FOUND THE PART ( REBUILT ONE I BELIEVE) ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER THEM SAME PROBLEM HAS STARTED BUT LESS OFTEN. EVERYTIME I BRING IT TO FORS THE PROBLEM STOPS AND I CANT GET IT TO DO IT WHEN I WANT. SO NOW THE WARRANTY IS UP... LOOKS LIKE I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PART TO FAIL AGAIN AND THAN IM IN THE WHOLE 1-$2,000 !! HOW CAN FORD NOT RECALL THIS WITH SO MANY PROBLEMS?

WAITED AND CALLED FAMILY MEMBER FOR HELP. WAS FORTUNATELY ABOUT 5 BLOCKS FORM MY HOME. CAR CONTINUED TO JERK FORWARD AND HAD TO STOP SEEVRAL TIMES. IT IS NOW IN MY GARAGE AND AWAITING A TOW TRUCK, THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOT SPECIFICALLY NOT GOING BUT TROUBLES WITH CAR SURING REPEATEDLY FOR NO REASON AND HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY 4 TIMES AND THERE WAS NOTHING I DID TO CREATE THIS LOSS OF BATTERY. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS FIXED PREVIOUSLY STATED THAT " THE CAR APPEARS POSSESSED". THIS IS SOMEHTING THAT HAS APPARENTLY BEEN A LONG TERM KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN FULLY INVESTIGATED. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE.
