THE VEHICLE STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS AND AT RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT GREAT CONSISTENCY. THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY/TRIP WITH NO RESOLUTION. DEALER AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AS NO CODES ARE THROWN WHEN IT HAPPENS AND IT RESTARTS AFTER STALLING. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL AND DISCOVERED FUEL LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. UPDATED 9/19/14*CN THE CONUSMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING PARTS IN ORDER TO BE REPAIRED. UPDATED 02/12/2015 *JS
I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND HEARD A LOUD THUMP THUMP AND THOUGHT I BACKED INTO AN OBJECT, BUT DID NOT. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, THERE WAS LITTLE ACCELERATION EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR. I CONTINUED ON AND AFTER A LITTLE WHILE, ABOUT 2 MILES, THE CAR RAN ALRIGHT AND I MADE IT HOME SAFELY. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN, AND DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF THIS MORNING 7/29/2014. *JS
LEFT REAR TURN/TAIL LIGHT IS CONTINUALLY NOT WORKING. I REPLACE THE BULB, THINKING THAT WOULD CORRECT THE ISSUE BUT AS IT TURNED THE BULB MELTED INTO THE SOCKET WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. I'VE REPLACED THE SOCKET/CONNECTOR 2X AND NOW IT'S LOOKS LIKE REPLACEMENT #3 IS INEVITABLE. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND FOUND SEVERAL POSTINGS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE? IF NOT, THERE SHOULD BE ONE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING, THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE ENGAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
2008 FORD EDGE: I WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AFTER DRIVING NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WHEN I HIT THE ACCELERATOR THEIR WAS NO POWER AND THE CAR INCHED FORWARD AT LOW SPEED AND THE RPMS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY. I WAS ABLE TO HIT THE BRAKE BEFORE AN ONCOMING VEHICLE ALMOST HIT MY DRIVERS SIDE AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO TAKE A LEFT. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IN A SAFE LOCATION, I PUT IT IN PARK AND TRIED TO RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNRESPONSIVE, NO POWER TO ACCELERATE. I THEN SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED AND THE CAR BEHAVED NORMALLY AFTER THE RESTART. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 YEARS WITH NO SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THERE IS NO WARNING SIGN AND THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS EXPECTED. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO STOP IN TIME WITHOUT GETTING HIT BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE POWER TRAIN PROBLEM INDICATOR LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER. CAR WILL NOT EXCEED 900 RPM AND WILL BARELY MOVE. I HAD THE TROUBLE CODES READ AND IT IS INDICATING THAT THE THROTTLE IS SHOWING STUCK CLOSED AND OPEN. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS WITH SEVERAL OTHER FORD MODELS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVERED THE THROTTLE BODIES FROM SEVERAL OTHER MODELS. THIS ISSUE POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK DO TO THE FACT THAT IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IT COULD BE HORRIBLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM EXTENSIVELY ONLINE AND FOUND THAT IT IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE EDGE. *TR
WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR CODES, THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. UPON RESTART THE FAN RAN EXTREMELY FAST AND LOUD. UPON INSPECTION, THE WATER PUMP GASKETS HAD ESSENTIALLY MELTED, ALL COOLANT HAD LEAKED OUT AND THE ENTIRE COOLANT/WATER PUMP SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE FIXED AND REPLACED AT A COST OF MORE THAN $3,000. OF COURSE THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 8,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. I'VE SEEN AT LEAST ONE OTHER COMPLAINT IDENTICAL TO THIS ONE. IT IS QUOTED HERE: "DISCOVERED MY 2008 EDGE HAS A FAILED WATER PUMP ASY. CAR OVERHEATED DUE TO THIS. ACCORDING TO SEVERAL SEASONED MECHANICS AND FORD, THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO THIS CAR WITH THIS AMOUNT OF MILEAGE. THE WAY THIS CAR WAS ENGINEERED, IT IS A $2300+ REPAIR - FOR A WATER PUMP! SPOKE WITH FORD SEVERAL TIMES ASKING FOR THEM TO STEP-UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. GOT NO HELP EXCEPT I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPTS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD." *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED AND WENT TO 0 MPH, THE ODOMETER READ DASHES, THE WRENCH ILLUMINATED IN THE CORNER, AND THE AIRBAG WARNING SIGN APPEARED. THE RPM'S IN MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO CLIMB HIGHER AS WELL AND THE CAR SPEED BEGAN TO DECREASE, AGAIN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I GOT OFF AN EXIT ABOUT 1.5 MILES FROM WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM START. AFTER SLOWING DOWN AT THE END OF THE EXIT I NOTICED MY CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE AND IT SLOWLY CREPT UNTIL I WAS AT A SAFE SPOT TO PARK. AS SOON AS I PARKED OTHER WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING SUCH AS THE TIRE PRESSURE SIGN AND ANOTHER THAT I CAN NOT REMEMBER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND I EXPERIENCED A HARD START, WHICH WAS LOUD, AND WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE GEARS THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY AS IF THE MOTOR WAS JUMPING. WHEN PLACING IN REVERSE GEAR THE JERK WAS EVEN MORE VIOLENT AS IF I WAS BEING REAR ENDED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON MULTIPLE TIMES AND CHANGED THE GEARS AND EACH TIME IT DID THE SAME THING. WHEN TRYING TO SEE IF THE CAR WOULD MOVE I HAD TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE CAR WOULD EVEN MOVE A LITTLE BIT AND AGAIN THE RPM'S REVVED REALLY HIGH. I ENDED UP CALLING A TOW TRUCK AND MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT I EXPERIENCED OCCASIONAL JERKING WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR WAS SWITCHING GEARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK AT THE SEAM OF THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THREE DAYS AFTER PASSING MY ANNUAL TEXAS STATE INSPECTION WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN I INITIATED MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL ONLY TO HAVE THE INDICATOR BLINK VERY QUICKLY (NOT THE NORMAL TICK-TICK-TICK BLINK). THIS HAD HAPPENED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO SO I KNEW ONE OF THE BULBS HAD BURNED OUT ON THE LEFT SIDE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, PURCHASED REPLACEMENT TAIL LIGHT BULBS & BULB GREASE AND ASKED IF THEY COULD CHANGE IT OUT FOR ME. UPON REMOVING THE COVERS, THE YOUNG MAN DISCOVERED A FRIED/MELTED ASSEMBLY. THERE IS NO WAY TO REMOVE THE BULB IT IS SO MELTED IN THE SOCKET AND THE SOCKET IS DISCOLORED FROM THE HEAT. THAT MUST HAVE BEEN SOME POWER SURGE TO DO THAT KIND OF DAMAGE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. DANA FORD IN STANTON ISLAND, NEW YORK WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

ENTERING HIGHWAY AND AUTO WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS OR ACCELERATE. STAYED IDLE AT OVER 5 RPM'S AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. SEEMED LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP FOR ASSESSMENT.STILL AT SHOP. THIS VEHICLE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT HAS REGULARLY ENGAGED IN A VIOLENT JERK WHEN I HAVE ENGAGED IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. SEEMS LIKE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE BUT DEALER WONT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN DUPLICATE PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN AND KNOW OF NUMEROUS OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND NO FIX HAS BEEN FOUND OR DEALER AND FORD WONT FIX UNLESS IT DUPLICATED THE ISSUE WHILE THEY HAVE THE VEHICLE AND MOST TIMES ITS SOMETHING NOT COVERED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *JS
THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE CONTINUES TO GO OFF ON OUR 2008 FORD EDGE. THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON FINALLY CAUSING A COMPLETE DRAIN ON OUR BATTERY LAST NIGHT DURING THE NIGHT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK SOMETIME UNTIL SEVERAL MILES DOWN THE ROAD. WE COULD ALSO BE LEFT STRANDED SOMEWHERE AS WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE GO TO BED ALL LIGHTS ARE OFF AND SOMETIME DURING THE NIGHT THEY COME ON. WE HAVE TRIED SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS REGARDING ENGINE LUBRICANT ON THE PLUNGER, BUT IT IS A TEMP FIX AT BEST. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT FIXED BY FORD. CLEARLY IF YOU DO RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGES FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

I OWN A 2008 FORD EDGE. RECENTLY I NOTICED MY EDGE HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO FAST MODE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, NOTHING IS WRONG. TODAY IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! I GET TO THE STOP LIGHT, MY EDGE WOULD NOT "TAKE OFF" LIKE THE OTHER CARS. I SAT THERE EMBARRASSED FOR TWO MINS TRYING TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, EDGE FINALLY JERKED AND THEN TOOK OFF. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED THIS EDGE. NOW, I HAVE TO PAY TO GET EDGE FIXED WHEN FORD COULD FIX THE ISSUE,. I HAVE A 2008 FORD EDGE SEL. WHEN TURNING ON MY LEFT BLINKER IT WAS BLINKING RAPIDLY WHICH I KNEW INDICATED A LIGHT WAS OUT. I FOUND THAT IT WAS MY DRIVER SIDE REAR BLINKER/TAIL LIGHT. I WENT TO THE STORE AND PURCHASED THE BULB. WHEN I GOT HOME TO REPLACE IT I FOUND THAT I COULD NOT REMOVE THE BULB AS THE SOCKET HAS MELTED. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS COMMON FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. EVERY TIME THE CONTACT WALKED BY THE VEHICLE, SHE SMELLED FUEL. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
REAR BULBS FAILURE CHANGED 4 TIMES SINCE 6/01/2014 LAST CHANGE 10/24/2014 BOTH SOCKETS BLACK AND BURNED HAVEN'T CHANGED SOCKETS. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. THIS IS A 2008 VEHICLE ITS 10 YEARS OLD .....THIS RECALL HAS BEEN YEARS AND THERE IS NO REMEDY. I DRIVE MY 81 YEAR OLD MOTHER AROUND AND AM FEARFUL FOR HER SAFEY. SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT IS NOT A SOLUTION. I WANT IT RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY, I HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH. FORD SHOULD FIX IT OR REPLACE MY VEHICLE WITH A SAFE ONE.
AFTER NEARLY 6 YEARS I THOUGHT I WOULD CHANGE THE BRAKES.WIFE WAS HEARING A GRINDING NOISE. I THOUGHT WE WERE WE'LL OVERDO ON THEM ANYWAYS. WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE THEM I WAS INSPECTING THEM AND FOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE PADS WERE BARELY WORN THEY LOOKED ALMOST NEW. THE DRIVER SIDE OUTER PAD LOOKED THE SAME PRACTICALLY NEW THE INNER PAD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS WORN DOWN TO ABOUT 1/16 TO THE END OF THE PAD I FEEL THIS WARRANTS SOME KIND OF ACTION ON BEHALF OF FORD THANKS. *TR
RIGHT REAR TURN SIGNAL WAS NOT WORKING. WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE THE BULB, I NOTICED THE BASE OF THE BULB HAD MELTED, THE SOCKET WAS SLIGHTLY DEFORMED AND DISCOLORED WITH SOOT. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL HUNDRED POSTINGS OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGE CARS FROM MANY DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS. CURIOUS HOW MANY IT TAKES FOR A RECALL. *TR
MAKING A LEFT TURN USING MY TURN SIGNAL, THE TURN SIGNAL LAMP ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO FLASH VERY RAPIDLY. I RECOGNIZED THIS AS A BURNED-OUT LAMP. AFTER STOPPING I CHECKED TO FIND THE LEFT REAR LAMP WAS NOT BLINKING. THE BASIC RUNNING LIGHT WORKED HOWEVER. UPON REMOVING THE ASSEMBLY, I FOUND THE LAMP SOCKET PARTIALLY MELTED AND CHARRED. I REMOVED THE LAMP, WHICH TESTED OUT TO BE GOOD. THE SOCKET HAD FAILED. I THEN REMOVED THE RIGHT-HAND REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY AND FOUND THAT IT HAS BEEN VERY HOT AS WAS SOMEWHAT CHARRED. I WILL REPLACE BOTH. *TR
TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE A ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PRODUCT? SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE FORD EDGE TRANSMISSION. I WITNESS THIS FIRST HAND, MAY 2, 2014. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY, MY CAR OUT OF KNOW WHERE SEEM TO HAVE LOST POWER. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS MOVING WAS THE RPM, BUT THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN. FINALLY AFTER PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND TURNING THE CAR OFF, IT RESET SOME HOW AND AT LEAST GOT ME TO WORK. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED FROM WORK BACK HOME BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO RUN INTO THE SAME ISSUE. I DID RESEARCH AND SEEMS LIKE I HAVE NOT BEEN THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. MATTER OF FACT THERE IS A LONG LIST ON YOU TUBE. WHAT HAS FORD DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. OTHER THAN REPEATEDLY TAKING INCOME FROM HARD WORKING CONSUMERS, FOR A ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *TR
IN MAY, I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MILES AN HOURS, WHEN MY CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED SHOWING MY SPEED, THE RPM'S MAXED OUT, LOST ALL LOW GEARS, AND THE ACCELERATOR WAS NOT RESPONDING PROPERLY. I WENT AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT AND THE OIL CHANGED, ENGINE FLUSHED, ETC. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER A SHORT TIME THE CAR STARTED RESPONDING PROPERLY AGAIN. ON 11/14/2014, I WAS TRAVELING AT 60 MPH AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING FOR THE 3RD TIME. ONCE I GOT TO A SAFE LOCATION I PULLED OVER. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK IT MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT IS THE TRANSMISSION BUT HAVE YET TO DETERMINE THE EXACT PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL THE POWER TRAIN OF THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE! THE SHIFT INTO PARK WAS VERY VIOLENT AND MADE THE CARE JUMP. WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE I WOULD SHIFT FROM P TO N, THEN N TO R, THEN R TO D AND SAME ORDER BACK TO PARK. EACH CHANGE WAS VERY VIOLENT. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE, TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE GONE AND THE ODOMETER WAS BACK TO NORMAL. I HAVE A 2008 FORD EDGE. WE WERE OVER AN HOUR AWAY FROM HOME, ON A SUNDAY, WHEN WE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN I WAS TAKING OFF, THE VEHICLE WOULD REV BUT NOT GO, THEN WHEN IT DID ENGAGE, THERE WAS A HARD THUD TWICE. I MADE AN APPT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM ON WEDNESDAY. THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS UNTIL TUESDAY NIGHT WHEN WE WERE COMING HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE. FROM A STOP AT A STOP SIGN IT DID THE SAME THING, BUT NOT A HARD. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PULL ANY CODES OR GET IT TO ACT UP THAT FIRST DAY. I ASKED THEM TO KEEP IT AND TO TRY ONCE AGAIN. IT DID ACT UP FOR THE GUY, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIGURE IT OUT. I TOOK IT IN TODAY AND THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL ANY CODES OR GET IT TO ACT UP. SO NOW I AM PAYING THEM $135 JUST TO TELL ME THE SAME THING THE OTHER DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CHARGE ME FOR. ON TOP OF THAT, I DRIVE 45 MILES ROUND TRIP TO WORK 5 DAYS A WEEK AND AM AFRAID OF THIS HAPPENING ON THE BUSY INTERSTATE THAT I TRAVEL OR HAPPENING AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. I HAVE READ MANY STATEMENTS BY PEOPLE AND IT SEEMS THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME RESULTS...NOTHING! THIS PROBLEM STEMS FROM A SHORT IN THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED (OSS) SENSOR AND THE TURBINE SHAFT SPEED (TSS) SENSORS.
