THIS CAR WAS TOTALED AFTER AN ACCIDENT IN 2013 AND WENT TO THE JUNKYARD. PLEASE TAKE THIS OFF OF YOUR RECORDS FOR RECALLS.
I WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON OLD MILL RD IN ANDERSON, SC.I STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND PROCEEDED TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY HWY 76. I HAD CLEARED THE FIRST LANE AND THIS CAR DRIFTED FROM THE RIGHT LANE INTO THE LANE I WAS CROSSING BROAD SIDING MY CAR NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED LEAVING ME WITH GLASS EVERYWHERE. MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS COMPLETELY PUSHED IN THAT I HAD TO BE EXTRACTED THROUGH THE BACK DOOR ON A BACKBOARD. THE IMPACT PUSHED MY CAR BACK ON TO THE HIGHWAY GOING EAST. THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL FLEW OFF THE CAR LANDING ONTHE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. ALSO THEDOOR LEKIFT FRONT SPRING DISENGAGED. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. *TR
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
TAKATA AIRBAGS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE PASSANGER SEAT. THIS MAKES THE CAR VERY UNUSABLE. FORD HAS NO IDEA WHEN REPLACEMENT BAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE OFFERED NO LOANER CAR. I WANT TO DISCONNECT THE TROUBLESOME AIRBAG SO WE CAN USE THE CAR. NO DAMAGE YET.
MELTED REAR TURN SIGNAL SOCKET. IT IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE TO CHANGE THE LIGHT BULB AND SOCKET. THIS IS DANGEROUS! *TR
FOUL ODOR IN CABIN AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE. SMELLS LIKE BURNING OIL OR OTHER FLUIDS. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS POSSIBLE MANUFACTURER DEFECT RELATED TO LEAKING PTU IN AWD VEHICLES CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK ON TO EXHAUST PIPING RESULTING IN THIS ODOR. THE SMELL IS VERY NAUSEOUS AND PROLONGS EXPOSURE COULD MAKE PASSENGERS FEEL ILL AND SAFETY CONCERNS WITH BREATHING IN THESE FUMES IS QUESTIONED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY A BIG BANG NOISE HAPPENS IN THE CAR, FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE I HAVE BEEN HIT. THE CAR DOESN'T STOP, KEEPS DRIVING. DEALERS TECHNICIANS SAY THEY CAN'T FIX IT OR DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. IT IS SUCH A VIOLENT BANG AND JERK. ONLY DOES IT RIGHT NOW ANYWAY, ON A LONG DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY. I AM OVER MY WARRANTY, SO VERY UPSET, AS MY CHILDREN ARE IN THIS CAR EVERYDAY. JUST BOUGHT IT AND TO TRADE IT IN I WOULD LOOSE SO MUCH MONEY. YOU NEED TO BE DOING RECALLS ON THIS CAR WHERE THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS POSTING THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE FORD FORUM. EDGE HAD STARTED TO DRIVE SLUGGISH, COULD NOT GET UP TO SPEED OR GET CAR INTO NEXT GEAR. DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION, CAR WAS VERY SLUGGISH GOING UP HILLS AND RPM NEEDLE WOULD REV HIGH BEFORE ABLE TO SHIFT TO NEXT GEAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE OF P061. FOUND FORD DEALER LOCALLY WHO REPLACED FILTER. CAR DROVE BETTER FOR 1/2 DAY, THEN BACK TO SLUGGISH AND NOT ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS. TOOK BACK TO MY FORD DEALER, REPLACED MAF SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FOR $645. 10 MONTHS LATER CITY DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, CAR IS STARTING TO SLIP INTO SLUGGISH MODE AND HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING TO NEXT GEAR. RPM NEEDLE REVS HIGH BEFORE SHIFTING GEAR. WILL WATCH CLOSELY BEFORE TAKING BACK TO DEALER AGAIN. NOTICE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUBBER AROUND THE REAR WINDOWS WAS MELTING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
BOTH MY REAR TURNING SIGNAL LIGHT SOCKETS HAVE MELTED. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON HWY 99 I HEARD A LOUD POP (SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT) AND HEARD THE SOUND OF GLASS. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AND DISCOVERED MY SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY EXPLODED. I WAS ALONE ON THE ROAD AND WAS NOWHERE NEAR AN OVERPASS WHERE SOMETHING COULD HAVE FALLEN ON IT. IT WAS A COLD DAY AND THE HEATER WAS ON SO THERE WAS A TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE. I DROVE THE CAR TO FORD AFTER CALLING MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THERE WAS NO "STRUCTURAL DEFECT" SO FORD WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. IT IS 1300 DOLLARS FOR A NEW SUNROOF, 10 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND MY CAR WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN. HAD THE COVER NOT BEEN CLOSED, SHARDS OF GLASS WOULD HAVE RAINED DOWN ON ME AS WELL AS MY SON IN THE BACKSEAT. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED EITHER FROM THE GLASS OR AN ACCIDENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AND SOON BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR LOSES THEIR LIFE. *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS (BRAKE/SIGNAL) BURNT AND MELTED IN SOCKET HOUSING ON BOTH SIDES. POSSIBLE ELETRICAL SHORT FIRE HAZARD. *TR
RIGHT BRAKE BULB WENT OUT SO TOOK THE BULB OUT TO REPLACE IT AND NOTICE THE BLACK/PLASTIC PART OF THE BULB WAS MELTED. SO I TOOK THE OTHER SIDE OFF AND FOUND SAME ISSUE. *TR
DOOR AJAR ICON ON ALL DOORS CLOSED DOME LIGHTS ONLY GO OFF WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION HOWEVER IF YOU HIT BRAKES AS IF YOUR GOING TO STOP DOME LIGHTS COME BACK ON . *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHT SOCKET IS MELTED. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT A SPEED OF 55 TO 65 ON I-65 IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR BEGIN TO NOT RECOGNIZE THE GAS . IT SLOWED DOWN SUDDENLY AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE. I MADE IT TO AN EXIT BY DRIVING SLOWLY WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON. WE TOOK THE CAR TO GILMORE FORD THE SAME DAY. ON 11/8/12 WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE PCM CAUSED THE COIL PACK (2) TO NOT FIRE AND THEREFORE BURNED IT UP. I ASKED IF THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND WAS INFORMED BY [XXX] THAT HE HAS ONLY SEEN IT ONCE. WELL I DECIDE TO LOOK INTO IT VIA THE WEB AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE PCM INSTALLED ON FORD EDGES. MY THOUGHT IS THAT HAD TRAFFIC BEEN GOING FASTER I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH HOW QUICKLY THE CAR SPEED SHIFTED DOWN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR BOARD WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HEARD A WHISTLING NOISE AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO PARK AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW POWER BOOSTER FOR THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE CONTACT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT. HOWEVER, ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO GEAR IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND VIBRATED VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I NOTICED AT A STOP LIGHT, WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE INSIDE INDICATOR WAS BLINKING FAST, TELLING ME I HAD AN ISSUE. ONCE HOME, I CHECKED MY TURN SIGNALS, DRIVER SIDE WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL. HAD MY SON CHANGE THE BULB AND FOUND THE PLASTIC AT THE BASE OF THE BULB WAS SEVERELY MELTED. THE SOCKET WAS DARKENED BUT STILL IN WORKING ORDER, REPLACED THE BULB AND IS WORKING FOR NOW. WENT TO FORD DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER EDGE'S. (WHAT EVER !) I WANTED THEM TO LOOK AND THE SOCKET AND HARNESS BUT THEY WANTED $98.00 JUST TO "CHECK IT OUT". AND OF COURSE, I'M OUT OF THE 30 MONTH / 36K WARRANTY. GOOD THING I CARRY FULL COVERAGE, BECAUSE IF THE CAR BURNS TO THE GROUND, YOU CAN BET I WON'T BE BUYING ANOTHER FORD. *TR
I AM UNABLE TO "SELECT AFFECTED PARTS" IN THIS FORM: PARTS - POWER TRAIN, TRANSMISSION, BATTERY. OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE MY VEHICLE, UPON RETURNING TO SPEED OR ENTERING A ROADWAY/HIGHWAY, OR OTHERWISE ENTERING A ROADWAY, IT HAS MADE A NOISE, A SUDDEN JERK, SEEM TO HOLD SPEED (FAIL TO INCREASE SPEED) AND SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE IT IS FAILING TO CHANGED GEARS (APPEARS TO REV IN RPMS SLIGHTLY), THEN JERKS AGAIN, AND COMES BACK INTO ROUTINE SHIFTING. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. I HAVE HAD THE FLUID CHECK, FLUSHED, REPLACED, ASKED MY MECHANIC AND SHE CAN FIND NO ISSUES. IT SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE IT BOGS DOWN, BUT RPMS APPEAR TO INCREASE (ALMOST AS IF IT IS NOT IN GEAR/NEUTRAL). IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. I HAVE ROUTINELY CHECKED MY CAR FOR RECALLS. AND I SHOULD NOTE HAVE HAD THE BALL BEARING GO BAD (AS RECALLED) AND REPLACED, INCLUDING THE ENTIRE ARM ON THE LEFT REAR. ADDITIONALLY, MY BATTERY HAS FAILED AND BEEN REPLACED (APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AGO) AND HAS SINCE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AGAIN. IT NEEDS TO BE JUMPED STARTED, AND UPON FIRST REPLACEMENT (BY FORD) IT WAS NOTED NOT ALL CYLINDERS OR CELLS WERE CHARGED/CHARGING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40-65 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL ENGAGE HARSHLY WITH A LOUD BANG WHILE IN O/D. WHEN O/D IS OFF, CAR WILL ACCELERATE FASTER, WHEN APPLYING BREAK THERE IS A HESITATION AND CAR WILL NOT SLOW DOWN UNTIL BREAKS ARE APPLIED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 0, THE MAINTENANCE WRENCH LIGHTS UP AND WE GET AN LED MESSAGE THAT I CANT RECALL EXACTLY AT THE MOMENT. THE VEHICLE CAN CONTINUE UNTIL YOU STOP. THEN IT CANNOT PROCEED FORWARD. ONCE YOU STOP AND SHIFT TO PARK, THEN TRY TO PROCEED AGAIN, THERE IS A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE VEHICLE CANT MOVE FORWARD. I BELIEVE IT IS GETTING STUCK IN 5TH OR OVERDRIVE. WHEN A CODE READER IS ATTACHED BY A MECHANIC, THE CODE IT CALLS OUT IS FOR THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR (IN THE TRANSMISSION). ONCE THE CODE IS CLEARED THE VEHICLE CAN PERFORM NORMALLY. WE HAD THE OSS REPLACED BY A REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION SHOP, AND IT WAS FINE FOR A MONTH OR SO. NOW AGAIN WE HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM TWICE SINCE REPLACING THE OSS. LIGHT TURNED YELLOW & BRAKES WERE APPLIED SLIGHTLY HARDER THAN USUAL RESULTING IN A HIGH PITCHED WHISTLE WHILE STOPPING. IN THE NEXT 20 MILES THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL. THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AS A FAILED BRAKE BOOSTER. REPLACEMENT COST $511.19 AT RAMONA TIRE IN MISSION VIEJO, CA. WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED TO MY FRIEND'S 2008 FORD EDGE. *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. UPON INSPECTION THE BULB CONNECTOR AND SOCKET HAD OVER HEATED AND MELTED. *TR
I BOUGHT MY EDGE, USED LAST YEAR AND I LOVE IT. ALTHOUGH, EVERY NOW AND THEN WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A HUGE BANG NOISE. ITS SCARY!!! I HOPE THAT FORD WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS. IT SEEMS THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT BRAND NEW A 2008 FORD EDGE I HAVE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH IT AND IT HAS BEEN IN SHOP SO MANY TIMES AND THEY STILL CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. FROM TRANSMISSION TO HOT TEMP, BEARINGS IN TIRE BEING MELTED WITH UNDER 60,000 MILES!!!! I HAVE REPAIRED BRAKE BOOSTER TWICE!!! *TR
UPON REPLACING ORIGINAL FACTORY BRAKE/TURN SIGNAL BULBS I FOUND BOTH THE BULBS AND THE SOCKETS ON BOTH SIDES TO BE BLACKENED AND MELTED; MY FEAR IS ELECTRICAL FIRE.
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 20 MINUTES IT BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND THE MORE GAS (PEDDLE PRESSURE) WE GAVE IT THE SLOWER IT CONTINUED. IT FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS CHUGGING' ALONG AND 'SPUTTERING'. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND THE COMPUTER WAS RESET. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. VEHICLE ROLLS WHEN PLACED IN PARK, VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARDS ON INCLINES WHILE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, REAR BULB CONSTANTLY BURNS OUT, STRUT AND SUSPENSION FAILED. *TR

THE CONTACTED STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 20-25 MPH, A POPPING NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE PCM MODULE FAILED AND THE ENGINE COILS WERE MELTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY JERKED WHEN IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 55MPH, STARTED UP HILL,MOTOR HAD DIED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT HAD LESS POWER. ONCE RPM'S WERE ABOVE 2,000 WOULD DO REG. SPEED. GOT WORSE,LEFT ON ROAD, LATER SAME DAY HUSBAND DROVE HOME, NO PROBLEMS. SAME PROBLEM MORE OFTEN. DEALER CHANGED SENSOR,AS THEY WERE UNSURE OF PROBLEM. OVER $600.00. WHEN I START DRIVING I HEAR A ROARING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR AND IT GETS LOUDER THE FASTER I GO. IT ALSO IS LOUDER WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND CORNER AND LESS WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND CORNER. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER YET BUT AM PLANNING WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK. I THOUGHT AT FIRST IT WAS MY TIRES BUT I JUST PURCHASED NEW ONES ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND IT DID NOT STOP THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES, SPORADICALLY AND ALWAYS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A WEEK BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER AND WHILE EXITING THE LOT, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER THEN MADE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE THAT WERE UNKNOWN TO THE CONTACT HOWEVER, THE REPAIRS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE FORD DEALER TO HAVE AN OIL LEAK CHECKED. THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS A LEAK WITH THE PTU (POWER TRANSFER UNIT) SEAL. THEY TRIED TO REPAIR THE SEAL, BUT THIS DID NOT WORK. THEY ORDERED A NEW SEAL AND IT HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE FORD GARAGE SINCE 6/25/2012 AND CANNOT BE USED UNTIL A NEW SEAL IS INSTALLED. *TR
I HAVE OWNED MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD EDGE IN NOV 2011. BY JUNE OF 2012, I HAD WATER POURING INTO MY VEHICLE THROUGH THE DASH ONTO MY VEHICLE FLOOR. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THE CONDENSATION DRAIN WAS CLOGGED WITH LEAVES, WHICH CAUSED THE WATER TO RISE. THE WATER SHORTED OUT THE MOTOR FOR MY FAN, SO MY WHOLE MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHAT STARTED OUT AS NOISE IN THE REAR TIRES, I THOUGHT, BECAME VERY LOUD AND DISTRACTING. TOOK IT IN TO A TIRE DEALER AND REPLACED 2 TIRES AND HAD THE SAME VERY LOUD WHINE, EVEN THE EMPLOYEE AT THE TIRE STORE WAS AMAZED AT HOW LOUD THE SOUND WAS. HE THOUGHT IT WAS BEARINGS AND I TOOK IT IN TO A FRIEND OF MINE WHO OWNS A REPAIR SHOP. I TOOK IT IN TO HIM BECAUSE I THOUGHT MY WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID. HE REPAIRED THE VERY BADLY WORN BEARINGS AND TOLD ME HE WAS VERY SURPRISED AT HOW BAD THEY WERE KNOWING HOW AND WHERE MY DRIVING WAS DONE. MOSTLY ON THE FREEWAYS NO OFF ROAD DRIVING. I DECIDED TO LOOK ON LINE TO SEE IF THIS HAD BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER 2008 FORD EDGES AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE 2007'S ALSO. SEEMS LIKE A TREND TO ME. I WENT INTO MY FORD DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID IT HAS BEEN SEEN AS A PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED WE LOOK ON THE WARRANTY AND EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN AND SEE IF IT WAS COVERED. IT WAS, UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIRS? THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD TALK TO THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE IN OUR REGION AND LET ME KNOW. SHE SAID NO! THEY WOULD NOT BECAUSE I DIDN'T BRING IT BACK TO THEM, REMEMBER I THOUGHT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEN SHE SAID I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, I BOUGHT IT FROM THAT DEALER WITH 9388 MILES ON IT. ALL THE OTHER WARRANTIES THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WERE HONORED WHY NOT THIS ONE?? I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER FOR THOSE WARRANTIES EITHER. MY FORD EDGE HAS JERKED AND JUMPED A FEW TIMES BUT WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. WELL ON FRIDAY JUNE 01, 2012 I TRIED TO PUT CAR INTO GEAR AND IT DID NOT WANT TO GO, IT STARTED JERKING AND JERKING. THEN IT STARTED GOING, LIGHTS STARTED GOING OFF SUCH AS THE WRENCH, TIRE PRESSURE, AND THEN ODOMOTER DROPPED TO ZERO AND IT SAID DATA ODOMOTER ERROR. THE NEXT DAY I TURNED THE CAR ON AND WAS MAKING A LOUD WHINING NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR TO GULF COAST FORD IN ANGLETON, TEXAS ON SATURDAY JUNE 02, 2012 AND THEY CALLED MY HUSBAND WEDNESDAY JUNE 06TH AND TOLD HIM THAT THEY HAD TO TAKE THE TRANSMISSION APART. SAID THEY HAD THREE CARS LAST WEEK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY CURRENTLY HAD ONE WITH SAME PROBLEM RIGHT NEXT TO MINE AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT SURE WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING FORWARD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT & THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON & THE DISPLAY SAID "NO ODOMETER AVAILABLE" . WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE - IT WAS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL THEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED WITH A LOUD CLUNK & THE CAR MOVED & ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. A WRENCH APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE SCREEN READ ODO ERROR WITH DASHES. I COULD NOT GO. IT WAS AS IF MY CAR WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE A 2008 EDGE WITH 18,000 MILES ON IT. ONE WEEK AGO MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL STOPPED WORKING. ON INVESTIGATION I DISCOVERED THE SOCKET HOLDING THE BULB HAD MELTED. WITH 13 DAYS LEFT ON THE WARRANTY I TOOK IT TO FORD, THEY REPLACED IT AND THE BULB. WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECK THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL, SAME THING, SOCKET WAS BURNED WORSE. THEY ARE REPLACING THIS TODAY AS THEY DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER SOCKET IN STOCK. I AM GOING TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS. *TR
I OWN A 2008 FORD EDGE. I HAVE HAD IT FOR JUST OVER 30 DAYS AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE THE WEEK THAT I PURCHASED IT. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A NEARBY VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED SEVERAL MINOR INJURIES DUE TO THE CRASH AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BOTH OF MY TAIL LIGHTS (BRAKES AND TURN SIGNALS) ON BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT REAR WENT OUT. UPON INSPECTION, I DISCOVERED THAT THE LIGHTS HAD MELTED AT THE BASE AND THERE WAS BLACK SOOT COVERING EACH BULB AND RESIDUE IN THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SMALL FIRE. I REPLACED THE BULBS AND HAVE HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES. FORD DECLINED TO RESPOND TO MY CONCERN. *TR
AT 40,000 MILES REAR BLINKER BULB WENT OUT AND UPON REPLACEMENT THE BULB HAD MELT AND THE SOCKET SHOWED HEAT SCORCH. FORD SAID THIS WAS COMMON ON EDGES. AT 85,000 THE SAME THING OCCURRED HOWEVER THIS TIME THE BULBS HAD MAJOR MELT AT THE BASE OF THE BULB. FORD SAYS THEY NOW HAVE A TECH BULLETIN AND SAYS TO USE A NEW PART NUMBER BULB. VERY APPARENT THAT THE BULB WAS EXPERIENCING A HIGH TEMPERATURE THAT CAUSED THE MELT. *JS
THE TRANSMISSION WILL OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO ENGAGE PROPERLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE WILL INITIALLY MOVE FORWARD BUT THEN WILL FAIL TO ACCELERATE AS THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO INCREASE RPM. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE FIRST MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT FORD WAS TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE REPAIR THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS FOR ALMOST 4 MONTHS AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM RECURRED. THIS LAST TIME IT OCCURRED ALMOST CAUSED AN HORRIFIC ACCIDENT. AS THE AUTO ACCELERATED FROM A SIDE STREET TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ACCELERATE AFTER ITS INITIAL ACCELERATION AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A T-BONE ACCIDENT WAS BARELY AVOIDED. THE SECOND FORD REPAIR WAS TO REPLACE A 'SENSOR' AND WAS JUST PICKED UP TODAY FROM FORD. *TR
