BRAKES ARE MAKING A SOUND LIKE ITS BLOWING AIR. THE BRAKE GETS REALLY HARD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDDLE WHILE STOPPING, THEN GETS REALLY SOFT AND I CAN PUSH IT ALL THE WAY DOWN. I HAVE ONLY OWNED MY CAR FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN 2 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE BRAKES. USUALLY THIS HAPPENS WHILE SLOWING DOWN AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS.

TAKATA RECALL -- AFTER CHECKING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED BY THIS RECALL, I HAVE CONTINUOUSLY CALLED DEALERS IN VIRGINIA BEACH AND NORTHERN VIRGINIA FOR THE PAST YEAR AND THERE ISNT EVEN A WAITING LIST. I AM TOLD TO TRY BACK AGAIN WITHOUT ANY SUGGESTION AS TO WHEN THEY WILL BE HAVE MATERIALS IN STOCK TO FIX THE SITUATION.

THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS A SPONGY FEEL AND YOU CAN HEAR AN AUDIBLE "HISSING" NOISE INSIDE THE CAR. THE NOISE WILL GO AWAY AS YOU APPLY DIFFERENT PRESSURES TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THEN WILL COME BACK AS SOON AS YOU MAINTAIN THE SAME LEVEL OF PRESSURE. THERE IS A KNOW CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 (EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR BRAKE BOOSTER), AND AFTER READING THE DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS OF THE PROGRAM, THE SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND AFTER RUNNING THE VIN NUMBER, I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY. I ALSO KNOW THAT IT IS NOT ANOTHER BRAKE COMPONENT AS THE VEHICLE HAS BRAND NEW FRONT AND REAR ROTORS, FRONT AND REAR PADS, AND BRAND NEW BRAKE FLUID IN THE SYSTEM. IT IS NOT VERY DIFFICULT TO DEDUCE THAT THERE'S SOME TYPE OF VACUUM LEAK (OR AIR LEAK) WHEN YOU HEAR HISSING NOISES COMING FROM THE CAR. VEHICLE IS STILL DRIVING, BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ ON THE INTERNET, THE BRAKE BOOSTER WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL AND COULD CAUSE A DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION.

FORD EDGE 2009 STALLING. CALLED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM AND WAS TOLD BY VEHICLE MANUFACTURE DATE & PLACE WHERE IT WAS MANUFACTURED, THAT THERE TNO ISSUES. VEHICLE CANNOT SIT IN IDLE FOR LONGER THEN 5 MINUTES AND STALLS. AFRAID TO TAKE ON HIGHWAY DUE TO SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING STALLING ISSUES. OBVIOUSLY FORD DOES NOT WANT TO STAND BEHIND THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. THIS IS A 2009 AND HAS ONLY 109,000 MILES ON IT. CANNOT BE DRIVEN WITHOUT IT STALLING 3 TIMES IN A MATTER OF AN HOUR. AS FORD IS WELL AWARE, THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. THEY SUGGEST BRINGING IT INTO DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, OF WHICH THEY ARE FULLY AWARE THAT IT DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE DIAGNOSTIC READINGS. JUST A REASON FOR THEM TO CHARGE YOU FOR A TEST THAT WILL SHOW NOTHING. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. STARTED OUT AS A STALL ONCE EVERY 4-5 MINS, BUT IS NOW A DAILY OCCURRENCE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN.
THE 2009 FORD EDGE I OWN HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING SLIPPING AND SURGES IN ACCELERATION WHILE TRYING TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT SPEED AT A 45-55 MPH RANGE. WHILE DECELERATING THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND REVS UP AND DOWN CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK FORWARD AND/OR SUDDENLY SLOW OR STOP. THERE ARE NUMEROUS TSB FOR THE 2009 FORD EDGE TRANSMISSION ( TSB 10-21-2, 10-17-4, 10-9-9, 13-5-27. HOWEVER, THE TSB'S STATE THAT THEY ONLY COVER 2009 - 2011 MODELS BUILT 3/13/2009 - 6/30/2010. THE TSB'S EXPLICITLY INDICATE THE 6F50 AND 6F55 TRANSMISSION. MY 2009 FORD EDGE HAS A 6F50 TRANSMISSION THAT HAPPENS TO BE BUILT ON 10/24/2008 AND THEREFORE, FORD IS LIMITING ITS LIABILITY BECAUSE A DATE RANGE WAS PLACED ON THE TSB. YET, MY CAR EXUDES THE SAME PERFORMANCE AND FLAWS OUTLINED IN THE NUMEROUS TSB'S. AS WELL, THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA RELATED TO THE 2009 FORD THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO REPAIR IF IT FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE DATE RANGE. THIS IS A VERY SHALLOW WAY OF LIMITING LIABILITY AND A LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY AND ETHICS ON FORDS PART, IMO. I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT TSB 10-9-9 COVERED 2009 FORD EDGE BUILT BETWEEN 12/11/2009 AND 4/15/2010 AND THEN TSB 10-21-2 EXTENDS THE DATE RANGE TO 3/13/2009 THROUGH 6/30/2010. AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD CONSIDER IF THE 6F55 AND 6F50 TRANSMISSIONS IN GENERAL SHOULD BE RECALLED. GIVEN THAT MY CAR MEETS ALL CRITERIA OTHER THAN A DATE FOR A WELL KNOWN DEFECT, IT APPEARS FORD HAS FOUND A GREAT WAY TO CIRCUMVENT LIABILITY ON POOR DESIGNS AND MANUFACTURING AND PLACE THE FINANCIAL BURDEN AND SAFETY RISK ON THE CONSUMER. I AM REQUESTING THAT AN INVESTIGATION BE INITIATED TO EXPAND THE TSBS RELATED TO THE 2009 FORD EDGE TO A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSIONS IN QUESTION, 6F50 AND 6F55. CURRENTLY, FORDS ONLY RESPONSE IS TO REQUEST THAT I PAY THE REPAIRS AND KEEP THE RECEIPT IN CASE THE TSB EXPANDS TO COVER MY MANUFACTURING DATE. COMPLAINING HERE IS MY RESOLUTION:)
THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY 2009 EDGE BEGAN MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE AND GOING RIGHT TO THE FLOOR ON OCCASION WHEN PRESSED BOTH WHEN STATIONARY OR ON THE ROAD. WITHIN ONE WEEK IT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE WITH THE NOISE GETTING LOUDER AND THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR MORE FREQUENTLY. WHEN WE BROUGHT IT INTO FORD WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY FOR THE EDGE. ONCE THEY ENTERED THE VIN NUMBER WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR EDGE WAS BUILT MONTHS BEFORE THE RECALL DATE AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. WE WERE CHARGED $675.63 FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR AND WE WERE TOLD TO REPORT IT IN CASE THE DATES WERE EVER EXPANDED TO INCLUDE OUR VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 FORD EDGE LIMITED AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED THAT AN ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED AND THEN MY CAR WOULD LOOSE POWER. IT NEVER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF BUT IT WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND BEGIN SLOWING DOWN UNTIL IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT HAPPENED TO ME DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN I WAS GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! I TOOK MY EDGE INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY FOR A FUEL TANK RECALL AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM FORD A FEW HOURS LATER EXPLAINING THAT THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE VEHICLES THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ITS GOING TO COST OVER $600 FOR THEM TO REPLACE IT! I WENT ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT SEVERAL OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND ARE TOLD THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SHOULD BE MADE A RECALL AFTER HAVING SEEN SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OVER THE ISSUE!

I'VE CHECKED WITH THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND AM ONLY TOLD THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND I'LL BE NOTIFIED WHEN ONE DOES BECOME AVAILABLE. WHY ISN'T THE NHTSA FORCING THE ISSUE ON THESE RECALLS? TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER DATED JULY 2016 FROM FORD INFORMING ME THAT "A RUPTURED INFLATOR MAY RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING VEHICLE OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." I TOOK THE CAR THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN ROCKWALL, TEXAS AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE REPAIR PARTS AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD GET THEM. FIVE MONTHS LATER, I WROTE A COMPLAINT LETTER TO THE CEO OF FORD OBJECTING TO THE RISK TO MY FAMILY OF DRIVING THAT DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. ON JANUARY 3, 2017, I RECEIVED A FORM LETTER BACK FROM FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IS WORTHLESS. I DO NOT BELIEVE THERE IS ANY SERIOUS INTENTION TO SOLVE THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE AND THE AIRBAG IS STILL IN MY CAR. THEY ASSURE ME THAT THERE IS NO REASON FOR ALARM. "TAKATA RECALL" - RECALL WAS JUNE 2016 AND KEEP CALLING FORD AND STILL CANNOT FIX IT. THEY CAN BUILD NEW CARS AND MAKE MONEY BUT NOT FIX A VERY BAD PROBLEM OF CARS THEY ALREADY MADE MONEY ON, WHICH IS NOT RIGHT. THEY SHOULD BE HELP ACCOUNTABLE TO DO A FIX THAT'S DANGEROUS THAN BRINGING NEW CARS OFF THEIR ASSEMBLY LINE!!!!

I WENT TO 2 FORD DEALS AND WAS INFORMED THAT I NEED TO PRESENT A LETTER STATING THAT I COULD GET MY AIRBAGS REPLACED. MY VEHICLE REMAINS A HAZARD TO OCCUPANTS. HOW MUCH LONGER IS THE PROCESS FOR REPLACEMENT OF HAZARDOUS AIRBAGS? IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS.
