MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A 2010 FORD EDGE LIMITED IN MARCH OF 2010. SINCE THAT TIME WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCURRENCES OF THE TRANSMISSION NOT GOING INTO GEAR WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR FROM A DEAD STOP OR THE TRANSMISSION GOING IN AND OUT OF GEAR VERY ROUGH (SLAMMING IN OR OUT) DURING DIFFERENT SPEEDS. HAVE TAKEN IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND OR REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, YET IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WHEN WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *TR
2010 FORD EDGE STALLS AT IDLE IN PARK, STALLS WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, STALLS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM STOP. SEVEN OCCURRENCE WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS. IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO DEALER. IT STALLED WHILE THEY WERE WRITING-UP THE SERVICE ORDER. LEFT IT OVERNIGHT. NEXT DAY "NO TROUBLE FOUND... COULD NOT RECREATE PROBLEM." WAITING FOR RESPONSE FROM DEALER. *TR
MY 2010 FORD EDGE HAS STALLED ONCE WHILE DRIVING AND TWICE IN A ROW WHILE PARKED AT IDLE. DEALER SAYS NO ERROR CODES SHOW WHEN THEY DID A SYSTEM CHECK I REFUSE TO PUT MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THIS CAR UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED . *TR
WITHIN MONTHS OF BUYING CAR NEW, I CALLED FIVE STAR FORD IN NORTH RICHLAND HILLS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE NOISE WAS WEATHER-RELATED, HIGH HUMIDITY. A FEW MONTHS LATER I TOOK CAR IN TO HAVE SEATS TIGHTENED AND ASKED TO HAVE BRAKES CHECKED AS I WAS STILL HAVE ISSUES. AGAIN, TOLD THAT IT WAS WEATHER-RELATED. THERE WAS NOT HIGH HUMIDITYI CALLED ONE OTHER TIME AND TOLD SAME THING. TOOK MY CAR TO BEVIL AUTO AND THEY TOLD ME ABOUT FORD CAMPAIGN NOTICE REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. CALLED DEALER AGAIN, GAVE THEN MY VIN, THEY SAID, "YOUR CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH?", I SAID NO, HE SAID GOODBYE. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WAY THIS WAS HANDLED AND FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THIS SAME PROBLEM.
2010 FORD EDGE LIMITED AWD CANNOT SEE THE SPEEDOMETER AT DUSK OR WHEN OVERCAST SKYS. CONTACTED FORD SERVICE CENTER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT REDESIGN THE CAR AND THAT THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. TRIED TO FIND OUT HOW TO KEEP THE SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS (ALL DASH LIGHTS) ON ALL THE TIME AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE DONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN HE DISCOVERED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE DURING DAYLIGHT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD ADJUST THE LIGHTS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE FACT THAT HE WAS UNAWARE OF THE SPEED HE WAS TRAVELING DURING DAYLIGHT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,700.
FORD EDGE 2010 POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION / REDUCED POWER POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION INDICATOR: ILLUMINATES WHEN AN ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC), TRANSMISSION, AWD/4X4 OR FUEL SYSTEM FAULT HAS BEEN DETECTED. *TR
I'VE HAD THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY ENGAGE WHILE RIDING ALONG AT A NORMAL STEADY PACE. ONE TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 60MPH. THE PEDDLE WAS SOLID BUT THE CAR DECELERATED LIKE I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER THE TRANNY SLAMMED INTO GEAR AND RESUMED SPEED. IT SLAMMED SO HARD IT FELT LIKE WE GOT REAR ENDED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID "IF IT WASN'T DOING SOMETHING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM". IT ALSO HAPPENED ON A BACKROAD AT 30 MPH AND ALSO PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE GEAR SHIFTER HAD TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, TO BE ABLE TO SHIFT THE GEAR BACK TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE GEAR SHIFTER DOES NOT RELEASE FROM PARK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 27,000. UPDATED 2/19/13 *CN ALSO, THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED.
SPEEDOMETER CAN NOT BE SEEN DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. COLOR AND HOOD OVER SPEEDOMETER MAKES DAYLIGHT VIEWING A TIME CONSUMING TASK THAT DETRACTS FROM DRIVER NORMAL RESPONSIBILITIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A MOUSE LIVING IN THE VEHICLE AND EATING THE AIR FILTER AND SENSORS. THERE WERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THERE TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD ALLOW A MOUSE TO LIVE AND DAMAGE THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
ORIGINALLY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD INTERMITTENTLY JERK WHEN IT WOULD DOWN SHIFT AT LOW SPEEDS, PRIMARILY GOING UP A HILL. SINCE THAT TIME, THE TRANSMISSION NOW INTERMITTENTLY SLIPS WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN INTO TRAFFIC. THIS CONDITION IS UNSAFE AS ONCOMING TRAFFIC APPROACHES AND THE VEHICLE JUST BARELY MOVING. THIS 2010 EDGE HAS BEEN BACK TO FAMILY FORD ON FOUR OCCASIONS FOR THIS CONDITION WITH NO RESOLUTION. DURING THE LAST VISIT [XXX] THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM UNLESS HE COULD VERIFY THE COMPLAINT. HE PUT BETWEEN 1200 AND 1500 HIGHWAY MILES ON THE VEHICLE AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS, EVEN AFTER TELLING HIM IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT LOWER SPEEDS. ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS, THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS EDGE STILL EXHIBITS JERKING WHEN DOWN SHIFTING AND STILL SLIPS WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN. DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND 2010 FORD EDGE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD NO WARNING, ALL GAUGES WERE OFF, NO POWER, AND NO HAZARD LIGHTS. FORD HAS HAD THE CAR FOR 10 DAYS TRYING TO FIX IT. THEY HAVE PUT 200 MILES ON IT AND BROUGHT IN A FORD ENGINEER (SPECIALIST) TO TRY AND LOCATE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, CANNOT FIGURE WHAT CAUSED IT AND HAVE NOT REPLACED NOR FIXED ANY PARTS ON THE CAR. THEY WANT TO RELEASE THE CAR BACK TO ME TO WAIT AND SEE IF AND WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS CAR HAS A KNOWN SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT WITH POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT NOTICED A TOTAL OF 73 NICKS AND SCRATCHES AROUND THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,420 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,600. UPDATED 05/19/10 *BF UPDATED 05/20/10.*JB
I AM HAVING WHAT MAY BE A VERY SERIOUS HEALTH/HAZARD ISSUE WITH MY 2008 FORD EDGE. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN YOU DRIVE THE VEHICLE OIL IS LEAKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION/PTU SEAL ON TO THE MUFFLER/LEADPIPE,BURNING ,AND SENDING TOXIC FUMES THROUGH THE FRESH AIR SYSTEM. I HAD TO PULL OVER TODAY TO AIR THE VEHICLE OUT, IN WHICH IT HAS LEFT ME SICK FROM THE BURNING FUMES. WHEN SITTING OIL IS LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. I HAVE CONTACTED MY FORD DEALER, IN WHICH THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR WITH FORD UPDATED SEALS. THE ISSUE THAT I AM DEALING WITH IS WHAT I BELIEVE IS A SERIOUS HEALTH RISK TO THE DRIVER OR PASSENGERS OF THIS VEHICLE. I ASK FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, MAINLY THE SPEEDOMETER, ON MY 2010 FORD EDGE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ UNDER SOME DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS. THE GAUGES ARE DARK GRAY BACKGROUND WITH BLACK NUMBER GRADUATIONS WHILE LIGHTS ARE OFF AND RED NEEDLE. ESPECIALLY DURING DAWN AND DUSK CONDITIONS WITH A CLOUDY SKY, SHORTLY AFTER SUN-UP AND SHORTLY BEFORE SUN-DOWN, WHILE SKY IS STILL QUITE BRIGHT AND ROADWAY IS DARKENING, AND YOUR DRIVING FACING THE SUN, THE SPEEDOMETER IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ. A QUICK GLANCE SHOWS ONLY THE RED NEEDLE WITH DARK BACKGROUND. IT TAKES CLOSE TO 5 SECONDS FOR EYES TO ADJUST BEFORE NUMBERS CAN BE READ AND YOU CAN SEE VEHICLE SPEED. SITUATION IS NOT IMPROVED WHEN LIGHTS ARE ON DURING THESE CONDITIONS. NUMBERS TURN FROM BLACK TO GREEN WITH ILLUMINATION AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH CONTRAST WITH GRAY BACKGROUND DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS TO IMPROVE CONDITION. ON RAINY DAYS WITH DARK ROAD CONDITIONS AND SKY IS SOMEWHAT BRIGHTER, THE SAME CONDITION EXISTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING TOWARDS THE SUN, EVEN THOUGH IT IS CLOUD COVERED. IT TAKES SO LONG FOR EYES TO ADJUST SO SPEEDOMETER CAN BE READ THAT YOU COULD RUN OFF THE ROAD OR INTO SOMEONE. ALSO, UNDER MOST DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS, THE METRIC SCALE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ, REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG YOU TRY TO FOCUS ON IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE WHEN DRIVING INTO TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS 1 1/2 QUARTS LOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. FORD WAS CONTACTED STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FORD SHOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED NUMEROUS TIMES TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE STALLING FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
I PURCHASED A 2010 EDGE LIMITED FOR A GIFT & THE NEXT DAY I NOTICED THE STRONG ODOR OF ANTIFREEZE COMING FROM THE HEATING SYSTEM. MY WIFE ALSO NOTICED THE SAME ODOR WHEN SHE DROVE IT CHRISTMAS DAY. SHE HAS TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER IT WAS PURCHASED FROM & THE LOCAL DEALER & BOTH SAY THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, THEN COMES & GOES THROUGH OUT THE DAY. BEING A MECHANIC FOR OVER 35 YEARS TELLS ME THE HEATER CORE AND OR RELATED COMPONENTS HAVE A VERY SMALL COOLANT LEAK. WE HAVE TO CRACK A WINDOW OR OPEN THE SUNROOF WHEN THE HEAT IS ON TO LET THE FUMES ESCAPE OR YOU CAN STAND TO BE IN THE CAR. *TR
HELLO I DON'T WANT TO WASTE TIME GOING INTO DETAIL WITHOUT KNOWING WHETHER SOMEONE AT FORD WILL GET THIS...SO LET ME JUST SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN WITH FORD SINCE 1988 WHEN I BOUGHT A BRONCO. IN 1992, I BOUGHT AN EDDIE BAUER EXPLORER AND HAVE HAD EXPLORERS UP UNTIL THIS PAST YEAR WHEN I BOUGHT YOUR CROSSOVER, THE EDGE. IT IS A NICE CAR, RIDES NICELY BUT HAS A LOT OF ROAD NOISE THAT I DID NOT EXPERIENCE WITH THE EXPLORERS. MY BIGGEST CONCERN/PROBLEM IS THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS TUCKED DEEP INTO THE RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE DASH AND CAN NOT BE SEEN DURING MOST OF THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. SEEING IT DEPENDS ON HOW THE LIGHT IS COMING IN. I HAVE CAUGHT MYSELF GOING 80 AND NOT REALIZING IT SINCE THE DIAL IS JUST ONE BIG BLACK CIRCLE. DURING RAIN STORMS, THE LIGHTS COME ON, THE RED INDICATORS ARE LIT, BUT THE SPEED NUMBERS ARE LOST IN THE DARK. THIS, I BELIEVE, IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE CRUCIAL SPEED DIAL CAN NOT BE SEEN. I THINK THAT YOUR FORD ENGINEERS GOOFED ON THIS DESIGN. THE TACH ON THE LEFT SIDE IS ALWAYS VISIBLE....BUT NOT THE SPEEDOMETER. CAN YOU HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH HE WAS UNABLE TO VIEW THE SPEED ODOMETER. DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER IS ONLY ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER AT NIGHT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST THE CONTACT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON AUGUST 19, 2009. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
PURCHASED A 2010 FORD EDGE SEL AWD ON JULY 27, 2009. ON AUGUST 12, 2009, VEHICLE BEGAN BELLOWING SMOKE FROM THE WHEEL WELLS. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO BE TOLD THAT THE PTU SEAL WAS BLOWN. THEY REPLACED THE SEAL AND INSTALLED A DEFLECTOR SO AS TO NOT BE ABLE TO SMELL THE BURNING FLUID AS QUICKLY. FORD HAS BEEN ISSUING TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS SINCE 2007. DUE TO THE FLUID LOSS, IT CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP. FORD CONTINUES TO CLAIM THAT IT CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALSO, THE ENGINE IS SQUEALING LOUDLY, DUE TO THE ISSUES MENTIONED ABOVE. *TR
