DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR SENSOR INCORRECTLY SENSES DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED CAUSING THE INABILITY TO LOCK ANY OF THE VEHICLES DOORS. DOME LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN DRIVING. THE INABILITY TO LOCK ANY OF THE DOORS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN SINCE IT COULD ENABLE ANYONE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR AND THE DRIVER HAS NO WAY TO LOCK THEM OUT.

AS A RESULT, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO GET DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON-VEHICLE WILL NOT LOCK WHILE IN MOTION-INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF WHILE PARKED-ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS DRAIN BATTERY AS IF THE DOOR REMAINS OPEN AT ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED-NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED FOR FORD OWNERS AS THIS IS NOT THE ONLY FORD VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM-FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND STEP UP
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR WARNING, CAUSING THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS TO MALFUNCTION. ALSO PREVENTS DOME AND COURTESY LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AND OVERHEAT.
REAR DOOR(S) SHOW AJAR EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR(S) ARE CLOSED. I OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR(S) AND THE COMPUTER READS THEM AS BEING AJAR AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR AWHILE. I CAN'T SET MY ALARM BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE WEB I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM ON THEIR FORD PRODUCTS.
ON JUNE 12, 2015 MY 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCKS. THE CAR WILL NOT STAY LOCKED AND UNLOCKS ITSELF. WHETHER STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, DRIVING, AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, OR WALKING AWAY FROM THE CAR, IT UNLOCKS ITSELF AND SOMETIMES DOES IT CYCLICALLY. IT HAPPENS WHETHER I LOCK THE CAR MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY FOB. IF I USE THE KEY FOB, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS IT WILL UNLOCK ITSELF AGAIN. IF I LOCK IT MANUALLY, IT MAY BE A FEW SECONDS OR A FEW MINUTES. IT CAUSES THE EXTERIOR PARKING AND HAZARD LIGHTS TO FLASH AND THE DOME LIGHT TO COME ON. IT IS NOT SAFE. I LIVE IN AN MAJOR CITY. THOUGH I HAVE A PUSH IGNITION THAT WON'T START OR OPERATE THE CAR WITHOUT THE KEY FOB PRESENT, I AM AFRAID THAT IF I LEAVE THE CAR SOMEONE COULD GET IN AND RANSACK/DAMAGE IT OR WORSE YET, GET IN AND WAIT FOR ME TO RETURN AND ATTACK ME AS I APPROACH OR OPEN THE CAR.
THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR REMAINS ON AFTER FULLY CLOSING THE DOOR. THIS WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR DOORS TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING, NOR WILL IT ALLOW FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE LOCKED/ALARMED WHEN PARKED. ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, ATTEMPTS TO LOCK THE VEHICLE HAVE RESULTED IN THE ALARM AND EMERGENCY FLASHERS GOING OFF. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, BUT IS NOW CONSTANT. A SAFETY AS WELL AS A SECURITY HAZARD.
THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED A FRIDAY NIGHT WHILE DRIVING HOME ON A DARK ROAD. MY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE THEN NO LONGER WOULD DRIVER AND THE WRENCH TOOL LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO WORK FINE, UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAD 50 MILES TO GO BEFORE EMPTY.
DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS SHUT, CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO STAY ON INSIDE CONTINUOUSLY. THIS IS A DANGER TO THE DRIVER ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT BECAUSE I CANNT SEE TO DRIVE WITH THE INSIDE DOME LIGHTS ON AND ITS UNSAFE FOR THE PASSENGERS WHEN THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.
FORD EDGE SUDDENLY LOST POWER ( VEHICLE STILL RUNNING). NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING. HAD TO ROLL TO SIDE OF ROAD (VERY UNSAFE). A WARNING LIGHT BRIEFLY CAME ON SHOWING ":AWD OFF" AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS WARNING CHANGED THE "WRENCH" ICON. THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME JUST A FEW HOURS LATER. I SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER FOR THE NEXT DAY, AND IT HAPPEND AGAIN ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. DEALER RAN CODES, ALL PASSED AND COULDN'T FIND ISSUE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 10 MILES AFTER PICKING UP FROM THE DEALER. RESCHEDULED FOR NEXT DAY WITH DEALER. ISSUE HAPPENED YET AGAIN ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. ONCE AGAIN DEALER COULD NOT FIND ISSUE OR ANY ERROR CODES. IN SUMMARY, IT HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN LESS THAN 30 MILES OF DRIVING. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR EVEN WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION
DOOR AJAR SENSOR STUCK ON "OPEN" FOR DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND REAR DOORS. AS A RESULT, DOME LIGHTS STAY ON CAUSING DIFFICULTY SEEING AT NIGHT, AND INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO, DRAINS BATTERY AND HAS STRANDED MY WIFE MULTIPLE TIMES. REPAIR IS VERY COSTLY AND AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THE REPLACEMENT PART IS JUST AS SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE PROBLEM AS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. FORD NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS INHERENT DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED; HOWEVER, THE WARNING INDICATOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DOME LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE. THE FAILURE RECURRED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,311.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR TURNS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. THE DOOR CAN BE CLOSED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STILL BELIEVES THE DOOR IS NOT SHUT. THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DRAIN.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON FOR BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. THIS IS CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. IT IS ALSO CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHT TO STAY ON AT NIGHT WHICH IS MAKING IT HARD TO SEE. THE DOORS WON'T LOCK WHEN IN DRIVE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM TOO.
THE FRONT SEAT IS TIGHT AND HAD A DEALER TO CHECK THAT BUT WHEN U ACCELERATE THE SEAT JUMPS BACKWORDS AND WHEN YOU BRAKE THE SEAT JUMPS FORWARDS. THE SEAT TRACK IS BAD. AFTER READING ONLINE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE.

IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR AND THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK DURING OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. ) THE SENSOR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND THEREFORE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON (EVEN AT NIGHT). THIS ALSO DRAINS THE BATTERY WHEN THE CAR IS SITTING OVERNIGHT
THIS THE FOURTH TIME DOOR SENSOR (DOOR NOT CLOSED) APPEARS AND INSIDE DOME LIGHT IS ON WHILE DRIVING DASH IS LITE UP AND WORST OF ALL THE DOORS DONOT LOCK WHICH CONCERNS US DUE TO HAVING SMALL GRAND KIDS IN BACK SEATING AREA. IF THEY OPEN DOOR AND TAKE THEIR SEAT BELT OFF WE CAN NOT STOP CAR FAST ENOUGH.

THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. MANY TIMES THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AND THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE FACT THAT NONE OF THE DOORS WILL LOCK AND STAY LOCKED WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT.
VEHICLE LOST POWER PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC (SO GLAD I DIDNT GET HIT), WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE YELLOW WRENCH APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ONLY WAY TO CORRECT PROBLEM WAS TO RESTART ENGINE (THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TRYING TO GET HOME). THE THIRD TIME THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CODES AND HAD A P2111 AND A P2112. AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE IT LOOKS REALLY COMMON WHY WOULD THEY NOT RECALL IT LIKE THE FORD FUSION?
DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL NOT GO OUT AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE THINGS THE DOOR IS OPEN, THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED. ADDITIONALLY, THE ACCESSORIES (SYNC PHONE CONNECTION, RADIO, ETC) DO NOT STAY ON WHEN CAR IGNITION IF OFF AND ACCESSORY IS ON. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND BACKING UP WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS IN NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS.

THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR , LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOORS WON'T LOCK
CAR CONTINUOUSLY SAYS THAT IT NEEDS TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK EVEN THOUGH IT IS ALREADY IN PARK.
Door ajar warning will not turn off there for door will not lock till vehicle thinks the door is shut even though it is shut. wares out battery continuously.
MY 2011 FORD EDGE INSIDE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES EVERY TIME I GET IN THE CAR, I GUESS ITS THE SENSOR ON MY DOOR BUT ITS HAPPENED ON THE BACK HATCH DOOR AS WELL. ON MY DASHBOARD IT TELL ME THAT I HAVE AN OPEN DOOR WHICH ITS COMPLETELY CLOSED BUT LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL I DRIVE OFF. OR WHEN I GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCK THE DOORS THE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, ITS DRAINING MY BATTERY. WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENS I CAN NOT EVEN LOCK MY DOORS WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR, I NEED TO LOCK MY DOORS FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, MY DOORS ARE ALWAYS UNLOCK BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN ON SOME OTHER WEB SITE WHERE OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS TYPE OF ISSUES. IT WILL COST ME ROUGHLY $400.00 TO FIX IT WHICH ITS MONEY I DO NOT HAVE. WHY WAS THIS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I HAD THIS ISSUE FIXED ONCE BUT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY DID A BAND AID JOB ON IT AND DID NOT COMPLETELY FIX IT WITH NEW PARTS - HELP ME - ALSO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I TOOK MY CAR TO DOES NOT HAVE A LOANER CAR TO USE WHEN A CUSTOMER NEEDS IT IF THEIR CAR IS BEING REPAIRED.
DOOR LATCH & LATCH ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED THE DOOR ADJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED; INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYS ON; INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHILE IN VEHICLE; AND FAULTY LATCH. THIS STARTED GETTING WORSE AROUND JUNE 2015. I WENT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IS CHECKED OUT, BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT NOT RECALL WAS MADE ON MY TYPE OF CAR AND THAT THEY WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUES MY MY TYPE OF VECHILE. THEY WERE WILLING TO FIX IT, BUT IT WOULD COST ME $450 -$550 OUT OF POCKET.

DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DOOR IS CLOSED BUT THE SENSOR STAYS ON AND THE LIGHT INSIDE THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF (DUE TO THE CAR THINKING THE DOOR IS OPEN)--NOT SURE IF THE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. SEEMS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH THE CAR THIS WAY SINCE I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS SECURELY CLOSED.
A DOOR AJAR BUT NO DOOR OPEN. LATCH KEY ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE CHANGED ON DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND NOW AT 80,000 MILES LATCH KEY CHANGE NEEDING CHANGED ON PASSENGER REAR DOOR. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR FORD TO RECALL THIS ISSUE. POSTED SO MANY TIMES HERE.
VEHICLE LOST POWER, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD. HAD TO PULL OVER OUT OF TRAFFIC, SHUT OFF CAR AND RE-START. HAPPENED 2 TIMES SINCE JUNE 9, 2015. CAR SEEMS TO RUN STRANGELY, SEEMS TO SURGE OR WANT TO SPEED UP A BIT. 13NO3 ISSUE? SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE BODY.
THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME AS HARD AS A ROCK TO PRESS TO GET THE CAR TO STOP WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20-30 MPH IN HIGHWAY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. FINALLY WHEN THE CAR STOPPED IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN UNTIL I REACHED MY DESTINATION. MY AIR CONDITIONING WAS RUNNING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR I TURNED OFF THE AIR AND THE ISSUE DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS, AGAIN THE AIR WAS ON. THINKING IT WAS DUE TO THE AIR CONDITIONING I REALLY DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH OF IT AND WOULD TAKE IT IN WHEN I HAD THE TIME, UNTIL IT HAPPENED WITHOUT THE AIR ON. NOW IT HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY. I HAVE ALSO STARTED TO HEAR A HISSING NOISE EVERY TIME I STEP ON THE BREAKS. I CALLED FORD THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH IS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THEY WON'T KNOW UNTIL THEY RUN THE DIAGNOSTIC.
THE DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE DOOR OPEN WARNING KEPT COMING ON.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL NOT GO OFF,EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT.
CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED AWD. PURCHASED IN NOV. 2014. ON MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2015 AS I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH, A LIGHT CAME ON ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE LIGHT SAID "AWD OFF" AND HAD A LITTLE WRENCH SYMBOL ON IT. THE CAR ABRUPTLY LOST POWER AND I JUST COASTED OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC AND ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER. I TRIED TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL BUT NOTHING HAPPENED--THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. MY VEHICLE ESSENTIALLY "DIED" WITHOUT WARNING IN TRAFFIC. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE SUNNY ABOUT 85 DEGREES. THE RADIO AND AC WORKED, BUT THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT AND WAS SPUTTERING AS I COASTED. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN "PARK" AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. I WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE SEEMED TO WORK OK AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AFTERWARDS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ARRANGED FOR ME TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION. I PAID $111.30 FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE HOOKED TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE BUT THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY "CODES" FROM A DIAGNOSTIC READING NOR COULD THE DEALER REPLICATE THE WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON. ON JUNE 24, 2015 THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK A PHOTO OF THE LIGHT ON THE DASH, SENT IT TO DEALERSHIP. THIRD TIME HAPPENED ON FRIDAY, JULY 10, 2015 AND I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE PASSING LANE AND HAD TO COAST ACROSS THE SLOW LANE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC SO I WOULDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. AGAIN, I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE ODOMETER AND THE "AWD OFF" LIGHT AND SENT TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SYS WITHOUT A CODE FROM DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, THEY CAN'T TELL WHAT IS WRONG. FOURTH TIME HAPPEN LAST NIGHT, JULY 14, 2015. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE AS FROM RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, A LOT OF OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM! PLEASE HELP! I FEEL LIKE I'M GETTING NO HELP!
DOOR LATCH FAILS SO DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON, ALONG WITH INSIDE DOME LIGHTS. DOME LIGHT STAY ON WHEN DRIVING CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THIS IS A REPEATED FAILURE. COST $149 TO FIX JAN 2015, NOW HAS FAILED AGAIN
DRIVER DOOR INTERLOCK SWITCH CONSISTENTLY FAILS TO WORK. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON UNTIL THE CAR BEGINS TO TRAVEL FORWARD AND REACH A CERTAIN SPEED. AT NIGHT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING BEHIND YOU WHEN BACKING UP WITH THE LIGHTS ON. IT HAS ALREADY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN I BACKED INTO A PARKED CAR. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD AS ANY PERSON WALKING BEHIND YOU COULD BE HIT.
I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS, WHEN I PRESS THE DOOR LOCK, IT AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKS THEM, (THIS WILL OCCUR WHILE SATIONARY OR MOVING) DOME AND OUTDOOR MIRROR LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE OR OFFICE LOT. DASH INDICATOR DOOR AJAR IS CONSTANT. LEFT VEHICLE AT AIRPORT PARKING LOT DURING A 10 DAY VACATION TO RETURN TO A DEAD BATTERY, ON SITE SECURITY / VEHICLE ASSISTANCE TEAM SAYS THEY SAW DOME LIGHT ON DURING ROUTINE SECURITY ROUNDS...MY WIFE WILL NOT RIDE IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO OBVIOUS SECURITY RISK. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING, WHEN I ASK THE DEALER TO ADDRESS THIS I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $400 DOLLARS !!! WE OPTED TO BUY AMERICAN DURING OUR COUNTRIES ECONOMIC TROUBLES, WE HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION AND A 2011 FORD EDGE. THIS HAS BEEN A DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE...
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING WITH OUR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN (4-YEAR-OLD, AND SIX MONTHS) OUR 2011 FORD EDGE AND WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, THE CAR JERKED FORWARD AND WE LOST ALL POWER IN THE ACCELERATOR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. THE POWER TRAIN WRENCH WAS FLASHING AND SAID TO CONSULT THE MANUAL, SO WE DID. FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS, I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. IT TOOK A LOT LONGER TO TURN OVER, BUT IT EVENTUALLY DID. WE CALLED OUR DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT I COULD BRING THE CAR IN TODAY (FOUR DAYS LATER). THE EDGE DID THIS TWO MORE TIMES OVER THE WEEKEND SO I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THIS SITE. I PRINTED OFF THE FIRST FOUR PAGES OF COMPLAINTS AND TOOK IT WITH ME TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT "HAD TO RECREATE THE ISSUE" OR THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. THEY PROPOSED THAT I LET THEM KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR FIVE DAYS AND LET THEM TRY IT EVERY DAY. ABSOLUTELY NOT. WITH ALL THESE DOCUMENTED ISSUES AND FORD BEING UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS IT HAPPENS TO THEM, IF THEY CAN'T GET IT TO HAPPEN TODAY, WE WILL BE DONE WITH FORD FOREVER. I'M HIGHLY DISTURBED BY THE AMOUNT OF ISSUES THAT ARE CLEARLY DOCUMENTED HERE WITHOUT ANY KIND OF RECALL OR, AT MIMIMUM, GUIDANCE GIVEN TO FORD TECHS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
6/4/2015 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 70 MPH AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT JOLT, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND PUT IT IN PARK. I WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THERE WAS NOTHING. THE CAR WOULD IDLE VERY ROUGH. AFTER I WOULD TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT COULD JUST BE BAD GAS. THEY SAID UNLESS ANOTHER LIGHT COMES ON OTHER THAN THE WRENCH THERE WOULD BE NOTHING THEY CAN DO IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS WOULD PERIODICALLY HAPPEN EVERY OTHER DAY UNTIL THIS WEEKEND IT HAPPENED TO ME 14 TIMES JUST THIS WEEKEND... 3 OF THESE TIMES WERE THIS MORNING WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON MY WAY TO WORK. I WAS DRIVING DOWNHILL AND NO ACCELERATOR AND LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND THERE WAS AN 18 WHEELER BEHIND ME WHO JACKKNIFED AROUND MY CAR SINCE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ON. THIS IS A VERY VERY BIG PROBLEM! TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY CAN'T GET ME IN FOR 4 DAYS. THEY SAID REGARDLESS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALLS. I'M FINDING THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD EDGES...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE AND PREVENTED THE DOORS FROM LOCKING. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO FORCE CLOSE THE LOCKS, THEY POPPED BACK UP. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED WITHIN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR ON THE MASTER SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED BUT "DOOR AJAR" NOTIFICATION IS PRESENT PROHIBITING DOORS FROM LOCKING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FROM DIMMING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEREBY THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE DISTRACTING DURING NIGHT-TIME DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE IN PARK, THE CONTACT CLOSED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR; HOWEVER, THE DOOR FAILED TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 09/18/15*LJ
REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. DOOR IS SHUT BUT HAS DOOR AJAR ALARM AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND CAR ALARM GOES OFF WHILE PARKED WHEN DOOR IS AJAR. IT CONVENIENTLY WENT OUT RIGHT AFTER 50,000MILES AND WARRANTY WAS UP. FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON PROBLEM BUT UNFORTUNATELY A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROCEDURE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED $100 JUST TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND NOT INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR. UPDATED 09/18/15*LJ
DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM IS ACTIVATED EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS WON'T ALLOW THE DOORS TO LOCK AUTOMATICALY WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON EVEN AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR. CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR.
