APPROXIMATELY THE "DOOR AGAR" WARMING LIGHT CAME ON. NO BIG DEAL, RIGHT? NO, WRONG, WHEN THIS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, THERE IS NO WAY TO KEEP THE DOORS LOCKED WHILE TRAVELING IN THE CAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, KINDA LIKE NOT BEING ABLE TO WEAR A SEAT BELT. SO THE FIRST TIME THIS "DOOR AGAR" LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE LOCAL FORD DEALER HAPPILY REPLACED THE SWITCH ASSEMBLY AT NO CHARGE. NOW THE CAR IS BEYOND WARRANTY AND THE"DOOR AGAR" LIGHT IS BACK ON AND THE FIX IS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS IN REPAIRS. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR FORD EDGE OWNERS. PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL. 2011 FORD EDGE PURCHASED NEW. THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. I HAVE SPRAYED BRAKE CLEANING SOLUTION AND ALSO WD-40. THIS HELPS FOR A DAY OR TWO. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO MY FORD DEALER AND NOTHING IS DONE. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON, AND I WORRY ABOUT MY FAMILIES SAFETY. VERY FRUSTRATING , SINCE I READ ONLINE ABOUT THIS BEING A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORDS AND THE FORD DEALER IS IGNORING MY CONCERNS. IT SEEMS THAT PROFIT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SAFETY OF FORD CUSTOMERS. VERY, VERY UPSET WITH APATHY OF FORD.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED. DOORS WONT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. HAZARD WHEN CHILDREN ARE IN THE VEHICLE. SLAMMING DOOR 10 TIMES WONT HELP. HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK DOOR WHEN EXITING CAR. ALARM WONT WORK IF DOOR WONT LOCK. *TR
I WAS JUST DRIVING ALONG, AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE 2011 FORD EDGE JUST STALLED COMPLETELY AND WOULD NOT MOVE, SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE WHOLE CARE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE DISPLAY SHOWED A WRENCH AND SAID TO CHECK OWNERS MANUAL, WHICH ACCORDING TO FORDS OWNERS MANUAL MEANS POWER TRAIN PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT AND IT ACTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED, GOT TO WORK AND PARKED. LATER THAT DAY DROVE IT ABOUT A MILE WITH NO INCIDENT. LEFT WORK AND JUST PULLED OUT OF THE LOT SAME THING HAPPENED, STALLED AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF. IT STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM, WENT TO PULL BACK IN THE LOT AND IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MATHEW CURRIES FORD IN NOKOMIS, FL. SERVICE TECH SAYS HES NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE SEEMS TO BE ALOT OF OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, AND FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL EVER BE ABLE TO FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE NOT EVEN MADE MY FIRST CAR PAYMENT, ITS IN THE SHOP ALREADY.. I AM NOT HAPPY!! *TR
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR WOULD SHOW DOOR AJAR INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES FROM THE TIME I START MY VEHICLE. WHEN THE DOOR AJAR WOULD COME ON IT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY OPEN THE LOCKS ON ALL THE DOORS. THIS SCARED ME B/C I HAVE 2 KIDS IN THE BACK AND DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH UNLOCKED DOORS IS NOT VERY SAFE AT ALL AS THEY CAN OPEN THE DOOR ANYTIME BY MISTAKE. AFTER 3 MONTHS OF THIS PROBLEM THE PROBLEM WENT FROM INTERMITTENT TO PERMANENT. NOW MY DOOR WILL SHOW DOOR AJAR PERMANENTLY. WHEN I AM DRIVING I CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS. ALSO MANY TIMES WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE THE ALARM STARTED GOING B/C THE SENSOR DID SOMETHING WEIRD. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHILE PARKED AT MY WORK AND AT HOME. I AM AT A LOST WHY FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PART AS I SEE MANY MANY FORD EDGE USERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A BIG SECURITY AND MOST OF ALL SAFETY RISK FOR KIDS. PLEASE FIX THIS. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN THE LEFT LANE AT 70 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC MY FORD EDGE WENT LIMP AND NO LONGER HAD ACCELERATION. I HAD TO SAFELY MANEUVER MYSELF OFF THE FREEWAY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DECREASING IN SPEED, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND SIT FOR A MINUTE BEFORE RESTARTING THE CAR AND SAFELY GETTING MYSELF BACK ON THE FREEWAY AND ON MY WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND MULTIPLE (HUNDREDS) COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER EDGE AND OTHER FORD MODEL OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I TOOK MY EDGE TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE TO SEE IF THIS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, IT WAS NOT. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED. FORD HAS SINCE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE BODY FOR ESCAPES AND FUSIONS DUE TO THOSE MODELS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS, BUT HAVE YET TO INCLUDE THE EDGE. FORD HAS NOW SENT ESCAPE AND FUSION OWNERS ANOTHER LETTER REGARDING THE ISSUE ELUDING THAT MORE WORK IS NEEDED. AGAIN, THE EDGE HAS YET TO BE INCLUDED IN ANY OF THIS. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED OTHER FORD MODELS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR SENSORS WERE MALFUNCTIONING AND THE DOORS WOULD LOCK INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING OVER A THREE MONTH PERIOD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,467.
THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DOORS ARE UNABLE TO LOCK. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE DOORS WILL LOCK, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL COME BACK ON AND THE DOORS WILL UNLOCK AGAIN. *TR
OVER THE LAST MONTH, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD STALLING ISSUES WHILE IDLING. ALL OF THE TIMES IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE MY VEHICLE IS IDLING AT A RED LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF THEN JUMPS BACK ON. HOWEVER, ONE OF THE TIMES, MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED AND I HAD TO PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN IT OFF THEN TURN IT BACK ON. DURING THIS TIME THE LIGHT HAD TURNED GREEN AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER IS FIXING THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER, THEY ARE SAYING IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FORD CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED COMPREHENSIVE LIMITED WARRANTY OR THE FORD CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND NOTICED OTHER FORD AND LINCOLN MODELS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND ARE WITHIN THE SAME YEAR AS MY FORD EDGE WAS MANUFACTURED, 2011. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE JUST CUT OFF AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME UP. I PULLED OVER OUT OF THE WAY AND IT BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AS I CAME CLOSER TO A STOP, I THEN TURNED THE KEY TO OFF SO IT WOULD STOP SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY. I TRIED RESTARTING IT ( SOMEWHAT STRUGGLED TO RESTART BUT DID COME BACK ON). THE VEHICLE THEN WAS FINE ACTED LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. SINCE THEN THIS HAS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES. I TOOK IT TO FORD TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE EDGE SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY. THEY THEN BEGAN TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS ON SEVERAL VEHICLES AND FORD HAS YET TO RECALL IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THIS IS THE SECOND ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT EFFECTED THE DRIVING ABILITY. THE CAR HAS YET TO BE FIXED DUE TO WAITING ON FORD'S REPLY TO MY COMPLAINT WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON, DOOR HAS TO BE REPEATEDLY OPENED AND CLOSED NUMEROUS TIMES IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. *TR
IN DECEMBER OF 2013 I NOTICED THE STEERING ON MY FORD EDGE WAS ACTING UP AND OCCASIONALLY THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO AWAY FOR A SHORT PERIOD TIME. THIS ISSUE ALMOST CAUSED A COUPLE ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT REACT WHEN TURNED. THE DEALERSHIP ADDED MORE POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE ISSUE WENT AWAY FOR A LITTLE WHILE BUT WOULD STILL SOMETIMES SHOW THE SAME SIGNS OF BEING HARD TO STEER. A FEW MONTHS LATER A DIFFERENT FORD DEALER FOUND A SMALL POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK AND REPAIRED A HOSE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THAT DID NOT COMPLETELY SOLVE THE PROBLEM. LAST TIME INTO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE JUST PAST WARRANTY, THE SAME DEALER FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT NOW THEY WANT US TO PAY THE FULL COST OF THE REPAIR SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. WE TRIED TO TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE WAS FIRST BROUGHT UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL NOT TO MENTION THE FORD SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FIX AN ISSUE THAT WAS BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP. *TR
THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYS WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY. DOORS WILL NOT AUTO LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND CANNOT BE LOCKED USING THE LOCK SWITCH ON THE DOOR PANEL OR WITH THE KEY PAD ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR. IN ORDER TO LOCK THE DOORS THEY MUST BE EITHER MANUALLY LOCKED OR LOCKED USING THE KEY FOB. ISSUE WAS INTERMITTENT AT 34000 MILES AND AT 37500 MILES THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FULLY FAILED. FORD INFORMED ME THAT THEY WILL ONLY COVERS THE REPAIR IF WITHIN 3 YEARS OR 36000 MILES OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND WILL NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT WITHOUT A RECALL CANNOT OFFER ANY COMPENSATION FOR THIS ISSUE. I'M NOT AWARE OF ANY PUBLICIZED SAFETY ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT HOPE THAT AN INVESTIGATION IS PERFORMED TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NOT ANY. *TR
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON FOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WHICH WILL NOT LOCK. DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING, INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON BECAUSE OF DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WHICH IN TURN DRAINS BATTERY. UNSAFE FOR DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE LOCKED AND LIGHTS CONTINUE TO ILLUMINATE WHILE VEHICLE IS OFF AND PARKED. *TR
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING CONSTANTLY ON. REQUIRES YOU TO SLAM THE DOOR SOMETIMES UP TO TEN OR MORE TIMES BEFORE THE CAR WILL FINALLY RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL REMAIN ON WHICH I AM AFRAID WILL LEAD TO A DEAD BATTERY. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR, THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED, ALTHOUGH IT WOULD MOVE AT A VERY SLOW SPEED AT A ROUGH IDLE, MAYBE 1 MILE PER HOUR, NO MATTER HOW HARD THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. SIMULTANEOUSLY, A YELLOW WRENCH WARNING LIGHT APPEARED. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND LET THE ENGINE RUN, IT REMAINED RUNNING ROUGH AT A VERY SLOW SPEED. I CONTINUED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTART, THE CAR RAN NORMALLY WITH NO WARNING INDICATORS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER WHERE THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE I SHUT THE CAR OFF, ANY ERROR CODES WERE CLEARED. THEY COULD ALSO NOT PERFORM A REPAIR IF THEY DID NOT KNOW THE CAUSE, ALTHOUGH THEY SAID IT IS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY. WITHOUT ERROR CODES, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM, I WAS FORTUNATE TO NOT BE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60 MILES PER HOUR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

DRIVE CAR UNTIL IT LOSSES POWER AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS. WHILE ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH. THE CAR WENT LIMP-NO POWER. WRENCH SYMBOL AND AWD LIGHTS COME ON. AFTER NEARLY GETTING REAR ENDED TRYING TO GET TO THE BERM, SHUT CAR OFF RESTARTED IT AND IT RAN FINE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A COMPUTER ISSUE. ON 7-12-14 WHILE ON INTERSTATE GOING 70 MPH., EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. ON 7-13-14, 7-16-14, 7-20-14 AND 7-21-14 AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 8 SEPARATE TIMES. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE ON A HIGHWAY OR MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT AN INTERSECTION IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT PROPERLY ADDRESSED. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. "SEE MANUAL" WARNING LIGHT WITH A WRENCH ICON CAME ON. PULLED CAR OVER, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AT WHICH TIME THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY. TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL THE ERROR CODE. CONTINUED DRIVING VEHICLE AND ERROR OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. TODAY, OCCURRED TWICE ON MY DRIVE IN TO WORK (5 MILES), THE SECOND TIME THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE, THEY PULLED A P2111 CODE. HAVING THROTTLE BODY SERVICED TOMORROW AT LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED TODAY WAS IN AN INTERSECTION - VERY NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS THROTTLE BODY FAILURE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. I FIND IT VERY CURIOUS THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL YET AS THIS IS CLEARLY A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

DEALERSHIP COMPLIED WITH A SERVICE LETTER BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK WITHIN MONTHS. DEALERSHIP SEEMS TO BE DRAGGING THEIR FEET.

THIS HAS HAPPEN 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST WEEK. WE HAVE FOUND THAT IT'S BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN AND A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE THAT IT RANDOMLY BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE WHILE ON THE ROAD. AND AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF THEN TURN THE CAR BACK ON IT WOULD START AND GO AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERS TO PUT IT ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER AND DID NOT SHOW UP SHOWING AN UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT DOWN.MY EDGE HAD PROBABLY DONE THIS A DOZEN TIMES IN THE LAST 6MONTHS AND YESTERDAY IT DID IT 4 TIMES RIGHT IN A ROW BUT THIS TIME IT SET OF THE ENGINE LIGHT SO I COULD READ THE CODE IT PRODUCED WHICH READ THROTTLE ACTUATOR LOCKING UP SO I AM GOING TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND SEE IF THIS CURES MY PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE MAKING A TURN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED OUT WITHOUT WARNING, LUCKILY THE CAR COMING TOWARDS ME SLOWED IN TIME AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE MIDDLE LANE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT DID TURN ON, I WAS DRIVING WITHOUT ISSUES, WHEN GOING 45 MPH THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND AGAIN STALLED OUT. HAVING MY 1 YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR WAS VERY FRIGHTENING, I WAS TERRIFIED I WOULD BE HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AS THE EDGE SUDDENLY TURNS OFF WITH NO WARNING. BEING WE LIVE IN A SOMEWHAT RURAL AREA AND HAVING MY SON, I WAS DETERMINED TO MAKE IT HOME, WHICH THANK GOODNESS I DID SAFELY, UNFORTUNATELY AFTER STALLING OUT 2-3 MORE TIMES. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE EDGE TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY WHICH THEY CLAIM IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY, AND SINCE WE DO NOT HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS $800. AFTER SEEING THESE OTHER POSTS IT SEEMS THAT THERE SHOULD BE A FORD RECALL. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT IT CAN LEAD TO A FATALITY IF THE EDGE STALLS ON THE FREEWAY OR BUSY ROAD, ITS VERY SCARY. ALTHOUGH IT WAS DIFFICULT IN TRAFFIC, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN INTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT INCIDENT. I SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND RESTARTED. THE WRENCH ALARM WAS GONE AND THE ENGINE RAN NORMALLY. I DROVE TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE TOTAL FEE WAS $500 AND THE VEHICLE STILL DROVE NORMALLY. *TR

THE FRONT DOOR AJAR SENSOR OR LATCH HAS BEEN OFF AND ON NOT WORKING. THE LIGHT DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON YOU HAVE TO EITHER SLAM THE DOOR OR OPEN AND SHUT IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN NOW TO GET THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO GO OFF AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO SHUT OFF. WHILE THE DOOR AJAR IS ON THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER PARKING THE CAR WHICH I AM AFRAID WILL END UP KILLING THE BATTERY. WHILE DRIVING THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SHUTS DOWN AND YOU HAVE NO POWER. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RE-START. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 100 YARDS AND DID IT AGAIN. IT DID THIS 7 TIMES IN LESS THAN 10 MILES. IT DID NOT DO IT AGAIN FOR ABOUT 10 DAYS. THEN IT DID IT 5 TIMES IN LESS THAN 2 MILES. IT HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. BOTH IN MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC. THIS PAST WEEKEND IT HAPPENED ANOTHER 3 TIMES WHILE OUT OF TOWN ON A MINI-VACATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 65MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE WITH NO ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED. I WAS ON A 3 LANE BRIDGE WITHOUT A SHOULDER AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY THROUGH TRAFFIC FROM THE FAR LEFT LANE, ACROSS THE BRIDGE, AND ONTO THE UPCOMING SHOULDER. THE RED "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE "AWD" LIGHT. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HAD NO IMPACT TO RPM'S (WHICH STAYED AROUND 700RPM). BRAKE SCREECHING FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS HEARD AS MY VEHICLE COASTED ACROSS THE 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, I TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS AND VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY. INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN 1 WEEK LATER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, APROXIMATELY 65MPH. RED WRENCH LIGHT, AWD LIGHT. THIS TIME ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I MAINTAINED MY LANE, PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL, TURN OFF IGNITION WHILE COASTING, SLIGHTLY TAPPED BRAKE TO RESTART THE CAR. VEHICLE STARTED BUT WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT RESET AND VEHICLE STILL IN LIMP MODE. WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED, I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. TURNED OFF VEHICLE AGAIN. RESTART AND RED WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF AND AWD LIGHT WAS OFF. ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY. TOOK IT TO A DEALER WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AT MY COST. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE WHEN SUDDENLY GOING INTO "LIMP".
1.THE WINDOW MOTOR HAS MALFUNCTIONED SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR AND HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY BUT SAME ISSUE CONTINUES. WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DRIVER WINDOW IT AUTOMATICALLY COMES RIGHT BACK DOWN, AND TAKES MANY ATTEMPTS TO MANIPULATE THE WINDOW TO ACTUALLY CLOSE. 2.MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON WHILE DOOR WAS CLOSED. IT LEAVES THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON BECAUSE OF FALSE READ INDICATOR. THAT STARTED A NUMBER OF ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS, INCLUDING DOOR LOCKING ISSUES. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD GRANDCHILD, SHE OPENED THE DOOR BY HERSELF DURING TRAVEL BECAUSE THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK DURING TRAVEL.(SHE WAS IN A CERTIFIED CAR SEAT, NEVERTHELESS IT WAS TERRIFYING AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE). I HAD MY VEHICLE IN FOR THIS "LATCH MALFUNCTION" IN SEPTEMBER 2013. THE PART WAS ON BACK-ORDER FOR 6 WEEKS. (THIS IS SUSPICIOUS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY EDGE OWNER WITH THIS ISSUE). I DID CALL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHO POLITELY SAID THEY WOULD DOCUMENT MY COMPLAINT. THANKS FORD. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO OWNED FORDS FOR MANY YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE FORD EDGE IS FLAWED BADLY, AND FORD WILL ONLY DOCUMENT YOUR COMPLAINT. THEY WILL NOT RESOLVE OR TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 35 MPH THE EDGE WENT INTO A BASIC "LIMP" MODE, PREVENTING ANY ACCELERATION. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT IT DOWN, IT FLASHED A YELLOW WRENCH AND SAID AWD OFF, I RESTARTED IT AND THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AROUND 55 MPH, SHUT IT DOWN AGAIN AND RESTARTED IT. THE VERY NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, WHEN WILL SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT THIS? AFTER SOMEONE GETS KILLED? TRUCK WILL BE SITTING IN MY GARAGE AND I GUESS WE WILL SHARE OUR OTHER CAR, NO WAY IN HELL AM I LETTING MY WIFE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, IT WILL END UP BEING A "DEATH TRAP"
I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND THE HATCH DOOR ADJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED DINGING. I STOPPED TURNED OFF THE CAR AND OPENED AND CLOSED THE HATCH BACK DOOR. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME 30 MILES LISTENING TO THIS CONSTANT DINGING. WHEN I STOPPED THE INTERIOR LIGHT WOULD COME ON, THEY WOULD GO OUT WHEN I TOOK OFF AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME, BECAUSE I JUST PAID $794.00 IN JUNE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM FIXED ONLY IT WAS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR ADJAR AND LOCKS. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO BRING IT IN FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTICS THEN PAY FOR LABOR AND PARTS. THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH THE ELETRICAL SYSTEM AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A DEFAULT ON FORDS PART. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO BRING MY CAR IN EVERY 2-3 MONTHS BECAUSE OF A DOOR SENSOR. I HAVE ONLY PURCHASED FORD VEICHELES SINCE I STARTED DRIVING IN 1981, I AM STARTING TO THINK DIFFERENTLY ABOUT FORD PRODUCTS AND SERVICE.
