My car is a 2011 ford edge sport awd and the brake lights will stay on after using the brakes. It is available for inspection. It is a safety hazard because others around me are not always seeing an accurate signal. I have not taken it in to be looked at yet, i just have been lifting up on the brake pedal after i use the brakes. there is on warning or notifications stating the brake lights are still on.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated shortly after the warning light independently turned off. The contact stated on June 16, 2021, while driving 40 mph, another vehicle intercepted his lane and he depressed the brake pedal but it failed to stop the vehicle as the pedal was hard. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he was able to steer to the right to prevent crashing into the vehicle and his vehicle came to a stop. The contact stated he turned off and on the ignition and started driving to his destination. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure the following day. The contact called the local dealer and was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Vehicle stahls about 50% time in reverse when parking mainly, and in forward when parking. Very scary and I have only had this vehicle for 1.5 months. Repairs have been made according to CEL codes; however, the stalling does not report the code, so it occurs over and over. Very scared this will happen and cause an accident. Based on numerous forums who had the same car and instance - it is the throttle body.
When I start the vehicle the door ajar warning light goes on and will not shut off. When I shut off the vehicle the interior light stays on. When I am sleeping in the middle of the night my warning system goes off and the car beeps constantly until I hit the key transponder With key in my hand the automatic lock will not unlock unless I press the unlock button ( I changed batteries in both of my keys).

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under the brake booster extended warranty coverage which was 10/150,000 years/mileage. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The “Vista” sunroof on my car is stuck open. This allows rain to come into my car providing hazardous driving conditions. The Ford dealer wants $4000 to repair & $500 to close. I’ve asked Ford several times for a detailed breakdown of costs, they have not provided anything to date.
I have had several problems with my back up camera. My camera now is showing the picture upside down. As a [XXX], I am using this for safety and it is very distressing since this is one reason I purchased my Ford Vehicle. I see there has been a recall issued for some 2011 Ford Edge vehicles and wondering how I could get my VIN number added. I feel this is a serious issue for safety. I purchased my 2011 Ford edge limited 4/28/21...Every since this car has gave me hell. Both Cadillac converters keep going on, the heat shield is constantly rattling, and the switch to the wiper is bad.
ON OR ABOUT APRIL 19, 2021, WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKING SYSTEM SIGNIFICANTLY FAILED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BY APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD VERY LITTLE PRESSURE AND DIDN'T SLOW THE VEHICLE UNLESS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE LOSS OF SUFFICIENT BRAKING COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR EVEN PERSONAL INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA WHEREBY THE TECHNICIAN REVIEWED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ("ABS") HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILED WITH AN INTERNAL ISSUE. THE ABS AND/OR BRAKING SYSTEM ON A MODERN VEHICLE SHOULD NOT FAIL. THE COST TO REPAIR AND ADDRESS SAID ISSUE WAS $1,912.85. ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED HEREIN BY REFERENCE IS AN INVOICE AND RECEIPT OF SAID REPAIR. THE SAME VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR "BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE." THIS VEHICLE SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED FOR THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILING BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED.
WHILE DRIVING ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THEN SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK. DID THIS INTERMITTENTLY. GOT ON RAMP, TURNING WHEEL RIGHT ANTI LOCK BRAKES KICKED IN FOR NO REASON. IT WASN'T RAINING, NOT ICY, ETC. PARKED. WHEN I STARTED MY CARD DROVE 15 MINUTES, ABS LIGHT CAME BACK ON- THEN KICKED IN, FOR NO REASON.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went down to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pumped the brake pedal until the vehicle responded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the brake booster was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 3 years later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the brake booster could not be replaced under an unknown Extended Warranty because the vehicle was not covered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
PTU IS LEAKING I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE F-350S
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was an abnormally loud cranking sound upon starting the vehicle. While driving at highway speeds, there was a steady abnormal sound detected. The engine, traction control, low tire pressure, fuel, and oil warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, tires were inflated by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics who determined that the steering angle sensor and steering wheel module needed reprogramming, an alignment was needed. Additionally, the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module), BCM (Body Control Module), and the drivers and front seat module needed to be replaced. The restraint control module, steering wheel module, and brake system had failed, and the powertrain control module (PCM) needed to be replaced. The contact was unsure if the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
CAR SHUT OFF ON A MAJOR HIGH WAY. NO POWER. ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. NEEDED TO BE TOWED HOME. FORD DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS WITH NO HELP!!!!!
WON'T SWITCH GEARS AND SMELLS LIKE IT IS BURNING
BACK-UP CAMERA DOESN'T WORK AND IT IS ASKING TO PUT IN A NEW NAV SD CARD. THEN IT TELL ME TO CONTACT YOUR DEALERSHIP ABOUT YOUR CAMERA.
WENT TO LEAVE AT NIGHT HEADLIGHTS DID NOT COME ON AND WILL NOT COME ON. DRIVE TO TURN JUST THE SWITCH TO MAKE THEM COME ON DID NOT WORK EITHER. THE LOW BEAMS NOR THE HIGH BEAMS WILL COME ON
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon entering and exiting the vehicle, there was an abnormal fuel odor present. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where they discovered a leak in the fuel tank due to a defective gasket. The contact stated that the same failure had occurred years prior. The same dealer had performed an unknown repair to the vehicle however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
MY PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WOULD COME ON AND I KNOW MY DOOR IS SHUT. IT'S STARTING TO GET BAD NOW. THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE DOOR POPPED OPEN A LITTLE TO WHERE I CAN HEAR THE OUTSIDE AIR COMING IN. I WAS DRIVING FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE THIS HAPPEN. THIS HAS TO BE FIX SOON.
I I CANNOT REMOVE THE HEAD RESTS ON THE REAR SEATS. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2014, I BELIEVE. IF I PUT THE REAR SEATS DOWN, IT'S OKAY, BUT WITH THEM UP, IT BLOCKS APPROX. 30% OF VIEW, OUT THE BACK WINDOW. TO ME, THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT DEALERS, BUT BEEN TOLD IT CANNOT BE DONE. THERE ARE BUTTONS TO PUSH (SAME AS ON THE FRONT SEATS), AND THE HEAD RESTS CAN BE RAISED AND LOWERED, BUT NOT TOTALLU REMOVED AS CAN BE DONE WITH THE FRONTS. ALSO, SEEMS WHEN I GO TO THE CAR WASH, THE RUBBER OF THE REAR WINDOW WIPER BLADE BECOMES TORN. SINCE I DON'T HARDLY EVER USE IT, I THOUGHT I'D JUST REMOVE IT. AGAIN, TO NO AVAIL. IS THE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE IN THAT REGUARD? THANKS FOR ANY HELP AT ALL, THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE.
THE ROLL-OVER VALVE ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK CRACKED ALLOWING GAS TO ESCAPE WHEN THE TANK WAS OVER HALF FULL. THE ROLLOVER VALVE IS PART OF THE TANK ASSEMBLY AND CANNOT BE REPLACED BY ITSELF. I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TANK ASSEMBLY FOR $1300 PLUS LABOR.
2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED, INTERMITTENT PEDAL FADE. WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL, PEDAL WILL FADE TO THE FLOOR. EVENTUALLY PEDAL WILL RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION OVER TIME. BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND ARE FUNCTIONING NORMAL. THIS ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, WIFE ALMOST HAD MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE HCU VALVES STICKING OPEN ON ABS PUMP SIDE AND NOT CLOSING. EVENTS GET WORSE IN COLDER CONDITIONS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES, FLUSHED WITH SPECIFIED BRAKE FLUID, BLED AND MECHANICALLY BLED. FORD DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO FOR US. COST OF REPAIRS HAVE SURPASSED $2900 WORTH OF DIAGNOSTICS AND IS STILL NOT FIXED. VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 90K MILES ON IT AND IS CURRENTLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
PURCHASED A 2011 FORD EDGE SEL AWD IN 2020 WITH 139,000 MILES. SINCE I HAD IT THE BRAKES SEEMED TO BE HARD WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKES. FEAR OF NOT STOPPING IN TIME TO AVOID A ACCIDENT. HOPE THAT FORD MOTOR CO. WOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THE BRAKES. WENT ON INTERNET TO FIND OUT THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE BRAKES ON FORD EDGE 2011. LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE DUE TO A BAD OR DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THEIR BRAKES. WHY CAN NOT NHTSA FORCE FORD TO FIX THIS ISSUE WITH A RECALL !? HAVE NOT HAD A ACCIDENT YET, BUT CAME CLOSE. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? HOPE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. MUSSY BREAKS. CAR BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR, CAUSING THE CAR TO TAKE LONGER TO STOP ON THE ROAD, HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET.
FUEL LEAK. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THE SAME PARTS ON THE 2012 AND 2013 FORD EDGE. JUST WANT TO GET MY EDGE FIXED SO IT DOES NOT CATCH FIRE
WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY WAS BREAKING TO TURN AND THE PEDAL COMPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. NEW ROTATORS, BRAKE PADS AND TIRES ARE ON THE VEHICLE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. WHY HAS FORD NOT STEPPED UP AND MADE THIS RECALL? I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE OR EVEN PUT MY FAMILY IN IT. NOW IT JUST SITS PARKED.
HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT HAS FAILED CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION.
MY 2011 FORD EDGE SEL WAS RECALLED FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. IT WAS TAKEN IN AND 'FIXED'. 3 YEARS LATER IT STARTED FAILING AGAIN AND WAS APPARENTLY FIXED. NOW 3 YEARS LATER IT'S FAILED AGAIN. THESE SYSTEMS ARE DESIGNED TO LAST UP TO 150,000 MILES. I JUST HIT 100,000 AND WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT FIXED FIR THE 3RD TIME. ALSO BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY SYSTEM BRAKE FLUID HAS LEAKED ONTO THE SWAY BAR RESULTING IN DETERIORATION
THE 2011 FORD EDGE BRAKES PARTIALLY FAILED. CAR CAN STILL STOP BUT PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. IT SEEMS THERE MAY BE METAL IN THE HYDRAULIC PUMP SYSTEM CAUSED BY IMPROPER INTERNAL DESIGN (NOT PROPERLY LUBRICATING POSSIBLY). THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN THAT COULD LEAD TO A FATALITY. TOO MANY ISSUES HEREIN DOCUMENTED, GARAGES SEEM TO KNOW OF THIS ON-GOING PROBLEM AND A SOLUTION MUST BE PROVIDED BY FORD. TIS IS A SERIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE..
BRAKES FAILED. PADDLE WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR, CITY DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND LUNGED FORWARD BEFORE THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SARASOTA FORD (707 S. WASHINGTON BLVD, SARASOTA, FL 34236, (888) 349-4989) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED UNREPAIRED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
UPON FUELING OF VEHICLE A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL IS PRESENT AND AFTER PARKING OVERNIGHT A SIGNIFICANT PUDDLE OF FUEL IS DISCOVERED UNDER THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SEVER ISSUE WHICH NEEDEDS TO BE RECALLED TO PREVENT A CATASTROPHIC EVENT.
91K MILES AND MY BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE PADS ARE 50%, NO LEAKING OR CONTAMINATED BRAKE FLUID. DOES IT IN EVERY DRIVING CONDITION, FORWARD, REVERSE, AND ALL SPEEDS.
WHENEVER VEHICLE HITS BUMPS BRAKE GOES SOFT TO FLOOR. AFTER A NEAR MISS COLLISION, BRAKES NOW ONLY GO TO FLOOR. THEY DO NOT WORK PROPERLY AT ALL NOW. PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. PART SHOULD BE RECALLED. TO MANY PEOPLE AFFECTED AND WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BRAKING!
THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AND DRAINS THE BATTERY AND THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK. THIS CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR AND I CANNOT LOCK THE CAR. ALSO, I WORK AROUND CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES AND IT IS REQUIRED THAT WE KEEP OUR CARS LOCKED. THIS PROBLEM IS REALLY STRESSING ME OUT AND I FEEL FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE. ALSO, MY AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHTS STAY ON CONTINOUSLY WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I'M NOT SURE THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT.
BREAKS GO OUT PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR REPLACED BREAK BOOSTER ON RECALL FORD KNOWS ABOUT DEFECTIVE BREAKS SYSTEM AND NEW IN 2011
REPLACED ROTORS, CALIPERS, PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS AFTER LOSS OF MOST OF THE PEDAL WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC. BRAKES WERE ALSO DUE FOR REPLACEMENT. BLED BRAKE SYSTEM ACCORDING TO OWNERS MANUAL AND STILL NO PEDAL. LIMPED THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED. ALSO NOTED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER THAT EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES. MOST CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE.
DRIVING THE CAR IN OCTOBER ON A CITY STREET, THE BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND TOOK MUCH LONGER THAN USUAL TO STOP. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR MECHANIC, HE COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM BUT SAID IT MAY BE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. WE HAD IT REPLACED. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AFTER THE REPAIR WHEN DRIVING IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. THE CAR ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THANKFULLY WITH NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR CHILDREN AROUND.
SINCE I PURCHASE 2011 FORD EDGE FROM MY DEALER IN BABYLON NY . I HAVE ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL, LOSS OF POWER DURING WINTER, AND THE WORSE HAS BEEN THE BRAKES, MASTER CYLINDER TO BRAKES KEEP FAILING AND I NEVER NO EVEN I CHANGE MY BRAKES WHEN THEY CAN FAIL . I AM SCARED OF DRIVING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. MY DEALER DOES NOT RESPOND TO MY VEHICLE.

I (SKYLA BURKS) TOOK MY FORD EDGE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY RECALLS REPAIRED! MY BRAKE BOOSTER BEING THE MAIN ONE I'M CONCERNED WITH BECAUSE THAT'S THE BIGGEST SAFETY PROBLEM! THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME BECAUSE MY CAR WAS OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED! HOW CAN THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL EVER EXPIRE? ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT'S THE MEANS OF BEING ABLE TO STOP! MY BRAKES ARE SO BAD THAT I DON'T LIKE PUTTING MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR! I DON'T FEEL SAFE AT ALL DRIVING IT & THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T REPAIR DUE TO THE MILEAGE! WHILE DRIVING FOR AWHILE, VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WENT LIMP WITH NO ACCELERATION WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A LARGE ROTARY WITH NO PLACE TO PULL OVER. THE TOOL WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DISPLAY. THE STEERING AND BRAKING WERE STILL OPERABLE, BUT WITHOUT POWER, VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO MOVE OUT OF TRAFFIC. TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY, ALSO ON BUSY ROAD. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO COME IN WHEN IT WAS HAPPENING, WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE THERE IS NO ACCELERATION TO DRIVE. VEHICLE HAS 43,000 MILES.
WHEN I TURN ON MY FRONT WIPERS THEY STAY ON. NO MATTER WHAT. THEY ALMOST HAVE A MIX OF THEIR OWN. THEY WON'T TURN OFF. EVEN F I TURN MY CAR OFF THEN BACK ON THEY STAY ON. I FEEL LIKE IT'S MORE OF A DISTRACTION WHEN IT'S NOT RAINING HAVING THEM ON.
3 TIMES MY 2011 FORD EDGE HAS LOST POWER & GONE INTO 'LIMP MODE' WHILE DRIVING. I'VE HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. WRENCH LIGHT, NO AWD, NO TRACTION, LOW ENGINE OIL LIGHTS HAVE ALL COME ON. ONCE THE CAR WOULDN'T RESTART SO I HAD IT TOWED. LAST TIME I DROVE IT TO DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO TELL ME THERE ARE NO CODES SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I'M TRAVELING 60 +MILES AN HOUR WHEN MY CAR BASICALLY LOSES POWER AS I'M TRYING TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION. INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM IT'S A KNOWN THROTTLE BODY ISSUE & THERE IS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16B23 FOR 2011 FORD EDGE W 3.5L ENGINE & FROM OAKVILLE PLANT WHICH FITS MY CAR BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE YEAR IT WAS MADE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE & THEY WERE GOING TO REACH OUT TO DEALERSHIP & THEN GET BACK TO ME. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING THAT FORD DOESN'T SEE THIS AS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION & PUT INTO EFFECT A RECALL.
2011 EDGE SPORT. COMING TO A STOP SIGN, DOING 22-23MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ABOUT 90% OF THE WAY BEFORE ENGAGING. BRAKES HAD TO BE JAMMED TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WE WOULD HAVE HIT THE OTHER CAR IF THEY HADN'T SWERVED. I WAS POWERLESS TO STOP. DEALER CHECKED THE BOOSTER THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID IT WAS THE ABS MODULE AND CONTROL UNIT. I AM SEEING THIS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF EDGE SPORT AND LIMITED OWNERS ESPECIALLY. FORD IS NOT FULLY ACKNOWLEDGING THE FAULTY DESIGN HERE BY ONLY COVERING THE BOOSTER. IT IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HURT OR DIDNT GET TO REPORT THE SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE AS A RESULT OF DEATH
WHEN DEPRESSNG THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE WAS SOFT AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. PUMPING THE BRAKES HELPED STOPPED THE CAR. THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FORD EDGE HAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000 MILES ON IT. BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE BRAKE ISSUE FIXED AND THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. A WEEK LATER THE SAME ISSUE OF A SOFT BRAKE PEDAL OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. BROUGHT THE CAR BACK INTO THE SHOP AND THEY BELIEVE IT MAY BE THE HCU, WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. WE HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH FOR THE PART TO COME IN TO SEE IF THIS WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS NOW NOT BEING DRIVEN.
OVER THE PAST MONTH, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY GOES TO THE FLOOR AFTER ABS ACTIVATION FROM A SUDDEN STOP OR WHEEL SPIN EVENT, LEAVING LITTLE TO NO STOPPING POWER. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN POWER IS RESTORED, THE BRAKES RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION UNTIL THE NEXT EVENT. THE VEHICLE IS A 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED THAT HAS BEEN DRIVEN 87K MILES. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT FORD IS AWARE OF FAILURES IN THE ABS CONTROL UNIT (AKA HCU) AND HAS EVEN OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTY SERVICE FOR MANY VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, MANY OTHER VEHICLES, LIKE OURS, ARE SOMEHOW NOT COVERED FOR THE VERY SAME FAILING PARTS.
EXITING OFF THE FREEWAY AND CAR LOST POWER WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WRENCH ICON CAME ON
CITY STREETS - WHEN PRESSING DOWN ON BRAKES CAR DOES NOT FULLY STOP AT TIMES STILL ROLLS. MOST TIMES MUST PRESS ALL THE WAY TO GET IT TO STOP. MAKES CAT SCREECHING NOISE WHEN BRAKING. FIRESTONE CHECKED BRAKES ON 9/16/20 STATING NOTHING WAS WRONG. TAKING BACK VEHICLE 9/18/20 FOR FURTHER CHECKING. I SAW NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS 2011 EDGE WHY NO RECALLS? MY VEHICLE IS REGULARLY SERVICED FOR ANY NECESSARY SERVICES NEEDED AT REGULAR INTERVALS.
REPEATED ISSUES WITH REPLACEMENT OF BREAK COMPONENTS RELATED TO THE OVERALL SYSTEM LEADING TO INADEQUATE PERFORMANCE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF ABS MODULE HCU AND ECU REPLACEMENT AND REPROGRAMMING. THE LACK OF PROPER PERFORMANCE OF THE BREAK COMPUTER MODULES LEADS TO THE INABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE IF A SUDDEN STOP IS REQUIRED.. THE VEHICLE IS NOT BEING DRIVEN DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS OF THE INABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE IF A SUDDEN STOP IS REQUIRED.
