DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT LOCK, ICON ON DASH SAYS "DRIVERS DOOR ADJAR"' WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WHEN STOPPED, EVEN MOMENTARILY THE "SHIFT TO PARK" LOGO APPEARS, AND A CHIME SOUNDS. UNABLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED AS THE FACTORY ALARM STARTS SOUNDING DEPENDING ON THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE.
AFTER DRIVERS DOOR IS CLOSED AND CAR IS STARTED IT STILL SHOWS DRIVERS DOOR AS OPEN AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF AND ALARM SOUNDS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP OR DRIVE AT NIGHT WHEN INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,796.
"DOOR AJAR" - MY 2012 FORD EDGE SEL WILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM ON A DAILY BASIS INTERMITTENTLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. DOOR WILL BE CLOSED & DASH WILL LIGHT WITH DOOR AJAR WARNING. AT TIMES THE WARNING WILL GO AWAY & AUTO LOCK WILL LOCK AFTER I START DRIVING. OTHER TIMES I CAN MAKE A LONG DRIVE & OPEN & RECLOSE THE DOOR NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT THE WARNING GOING AWAY. BECAUSE THE DOOR JUST RANDOMLY THINKS IT'S UNLOCKED DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT TIME THIS IN TURN MAKES MY SYNC SYSTEM INTERIOR LIGHTS & SOMETIMES HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS CYCLE ON AND STAY ON FOR DIFFERENT INTERVALS AS WITNESSED BY MY MANY NEIGHBORS, HUSBAND & MYSELF. THIS HAS HAD A DRAIN ON MY BATTERY & WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT & JUMP IT BEFORE. ALSO, WE ARE EXPECTING OUR FIRST CHILD & ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE WE CANNOT MAKE THE CAR THINK THAT THE DOOR SHOULD BE LOCKED. WE LIVE IN TEXAS WHERE IT'S QUITE HOT & CAN BE COLD FOR INFANT IN THE WINTER I NEED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A REMOTE STARTER TO PRE-HEAT & PRE-COOL MY VEHICLE FOR THE BABY. I CANNOT LEAVE VEHICLE UNLOCKED WHEN RUNNING BECAUSE I HAVE A NEIGHBOR WITH DEMENTIA WHO WILL GET IN THE VEHICLE & TRY TO DRIVE AWAY SO FOR ME THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. THIS ALSO GIVES FORD A BAD REPUTATION JUST BY EVERYONE IN MY SUBDIVISION SEEING THIS CAR AND IT'S ERRATIC CYCLING OF LIGHTS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR. IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO MUG ME OR RAPE ME I CANNOT EVEN LOCKED MYSELF IN MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WILL LOCK THE DOOR AND THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING BECAUSE MY DOOR "IS AJAR". I HAVE READ MANY POSTINGS ALL OVER THE INTERNET & YOUTUBE WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MANY FORDS ESPECIALLY A 2012 FORD EDGE. THIS IS OUR FIFTH FORD VEHICLE FOR MY HUSBAND & MYSELF. MY DAD WORKED FOR FORD FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS & WAS A MANAGER AT A FORD, BUT SAFETY ISSUES FOR MY FAMILY LIKE THIS MAKING ME NOT WANT ANOTHER.
"DOOR AJAR" SENSOR BEGAN APPEARING ON DASHBOARD SPORADICALLY FOR 1 MONTH. ALL DOORS WERE CLOSED PER NORMAL, DOOR LOCKS WERE NEGATIVE FUNCTION WHILE SENSOR ACTIVE AND VEHICLE WAS EITHER PARKED OR MOVING. AFTER 1 MONTH, SENSOR WAS ON PERMANENTLY. DOOR LATCH/S RR'D AT FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THIS USED CPO EDGE WAS PURCHASED 13 MONTHS PRIOR. COST OF REPAIR: $540. SERVICE MANAGER HAS ADVISED ME THAT IN THE EVENT OF A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, I WILL BE REIMBURSED THE ENTIRE AMOUNT BY FORD. YEAH...RIGHT!
SECOND TIME DOOR AJAR INDICATOR CAME ON IN 1 YEAR, DRIVERS DOOR AND DRIVER PASSENGER DOOR HAD TO BE REPLACED TO THE AMOUNT OF $ 650.00. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE INSIDE LIGHT STAYS ON, WHICH IN TURN DRAINS THE BATTERY. OBVIOUSLY THIS HAPPENS A LOT BECAUSE THERE ARE SELF HELP VIDEOS TO DISABLE THE MECHANISMS. I AM INQUIRING AS TO BEING REIMBURSED FOR THE ABOVE AMOUNT. I BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MECHANISM WENT BAD ON THE SAME SIDE. REPAIRS WERE MADE AT TIMBROOK FORD RR3 BOX 3280 KEYSER,WV 26726 P#304-788-7900 THIS HAPPENED SEPT.2015 & SEPT 2016.
FUEL SYSTEM STOPS WORKING (THROTTLE BODY). CAR LOOSES POWER, PRESSING GAS PEDAL DOES NOTHING. MUST GET OFF ROAD VERY QUICKLY WHILE DRIFTING. VERY UNSAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING, ALL FOUR DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHCILE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANFACTURER WAS NOTIFED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,200.
MY FORD EDGE HAS ALL THE PROBLEMATIC SYMPTOMS DISPLAYED BY THE SHIFTER WARNING "SHIFT INTO PARK" AFTER THE CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN SITUATION AND FORD SAYS IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR HAS NOW PROGRESSED TO DISPLAYING THIS SAME MESSAGE NEARLY EVERY TIME WE SLOW DOWN TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION THEN DISPLAYS THE MESSAGE AGAIN AS WE ACCELERATE TO MOVE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. WITH THIS INCREASING ALARM/WARNING DISPLAY THE CAR HAS ALSO QUIT MOVING INTO THE PRESET SEAT AND MIRROR ADJUSTMENT SETTINGS, DECREASING DRIVERS FIELD OF VISION WITHOUT CONSTANT ADJUSTMENTS. THE CONSISTENT ALARMS SOUNDING OF "SHIFT INTO PARK" AND "DOOR AJAR" (CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED) IS VERY DISTRACTING, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING OR ACCELERATING TO MAKE TRAFFIC CHANGE MANEUVERS. THESE ALARMS ARE MUCH MORE DISTRACTING THAN "HANDS FREE" PHONE CALLS YOU ARE CHECKING ALARMS WHILE CHANGING LANES, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, OR NAVIGATING INTERSECTIONS ETC. I GIVE AN APPROXIMATE SPEED AND INCIDENT DATE AS THESE ARE ONGOING CONTINUING PROBLEMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. *TR
THE "DOOR AJAR" SENSOR SEEMS TO BE BROKEN INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR COME ON (OR NOT GO OFF) MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I NEARLY COLLIDED WITH A PARKED CAR WHEN TURNING AS THE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE AND SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET KILLED BECAUSE OF IT.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS SHUT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE CAR IS PARKED. CAN MAKE THE CAR IDEAL FOR THEFT AND UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD BECAUSE THE DOORS WON'T LOCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR WOULD BE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
TODAY OUR 2012 EDGE LOST ALL POWER AS WE ACCELERATED FROM A STOP SIGN ONTO A MAIN ROAD FEEDING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 25 MILES /HOUR SO WE WEREN'T ACCELERATING QUICKLY. WE HADN'T EVEN COMPLETED THE TURN WHEN ALL POWER WAS LOST AND WE COASTED TO A STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAVING HEARD OF OTHER FAILINGS LIKE THIS WE SHUT OFF THE CAR AND AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR RAN THE REST OF PLANNED TRIP AROUND TOWN WITH NO FURTHER TROUBLES. IF WE HAD BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH LIMITED SAFE AREAS TO PULL OVER, OR IN THE FAST LANE ON THE FREEWAY WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN SERIOUS TROUBLE.
THE DOOR AJAR ALARM/LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT SECURELY, IN MOTION AND NOT. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU PARK THE CAR IT STAYS ON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF OR THEY SHUT OFF AND KICK BACK ON AT RANDOM. READING SOME COMPLAINTS AND SOUNDS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM, EVEN TO THE EXTENT OF HAVING IT KILL THEIR BATTERY AND SOME HAVE HAD IT FIXED AT SHOP JUST TO HAVE THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN. FORD NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR BUT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. MAY DRIVE 6 WEEKS BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. FORD HAS EXTENDED RECALL ON POWER BOOSTER. DEALER REPLACED BOOSTER SAYS THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. DROVE VEHICLE ANOTHER THREE WEEKS AND PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AGAIN STILL WHILE DRIVING SLOW OR COMING DOWN A HILL PRESSING BRAKES SLIGHTLY. REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER BUT NO CHANGE. SCARED TO DRIVE VEHICLE. NEVER KNOW WHEN THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO ACT UP. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON THE WHOLE TIME DURING DRIVING CONDITIONS ON MY 2012 FORD EDGE, THE DOME LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE NIGHT TIME. WHEN PARKED THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON DURING THIS PERIOD ALSO. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ON A FULLTIME BASIS IN SEPT 2016

THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINS ON RESULTING IN AN INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON, WARNING CHIMES/NOTIFICATIONS CONTINUE WHILE DRIVING. LATCH APPEARS TO BE FAULTY.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT DON'T GO AFTER DOOR CLOSING.
THE FRONT DOOR AJAR LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND STAYING ON NO MATTER HOW YOU SLAMMED THE DOOR SHUT (IT WAS NOT AJAR). WHEN STOPPING IT WOULD SAY TO PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT THE DOOR. WHEN PARKED THE INSIDE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON, DRAINING THE BATTERY, RUINING THE BATTERY.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR KEEPS SOUNDING THE DOOR AJAR WARNING EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS FIRMLY CLOSED. NO AMOUNT OF OPEN/CLOSING SEEMS TO CLEAR THE WARNING AND THEREFORE THE WARNING CHIMES OCCUR EVERY TIME THE CAR REACHES A STOP IN TRAFFIC. FALSE WARNINGS ARE DANGEROUS AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE CAR IS ON.
DOOR LATCH SENSOR - DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH SENSOR IS FAULTY. RANDOMLY INDICATES DOOR IS OPEN, UNLOCKS ALL DOORS WHILE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. RANDOMLY UNLOCKS VEHICLE WHILE PARKED AS WELL AS TURNS LIGHTS ON - THUS DRAINING BATTERY AND MAY LEAVE DRIVER STRANDED.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. STARTED YESTERDAY (AUGUST 30). DOOR IS SHUT BUT LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. I RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I JUST BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR ANOTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEM (PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON) TWO WEEKS AGO WHICH COST OVER $400 TO REPAIR. PLEASE SEE MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT REGARDING THE AIRBAG LIGHT 10899708.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR INDICATOR ON DASH/WARNING LIGHT. DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED, DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND AUDIBLE INDICATOR REMAINS ON BUT CAN BE MUTED BY SELECTING OK. "SHIFT TO PARK" LIGHT/INDICATOR COMES ON WHEN STOPPED AND STARTING AGAIN. DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT AUTO/MANUAL LOCK, UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSES WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,346.
BRAKES MADE A HISSING SOUND WHEN PRESSED AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN PRESSED. WHEN BACKING UP THERE WERE HARDLY ANY BRAKES AVAILABLE TO STOP. TOOK IT INTO A MECHANIC AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS IS NOT SIMPLY REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS BUT THIS IS A MECHANICAL ISSUE ON A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK LAST WEEK, THE DRIVERS DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDED, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE DOOR LOCKS DISENGAGED. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO RE-CLOSE THE DOOR; WHICH SILENCED THE ALARM; BUT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON. AS I PULLED OUT AND GOT BACK UP TO THE SPEED THE LOCKS WOULD NORMALLY ENGAGE, THE DRIVERS DOOR ALARM SOUNDED AGAIN, INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINED ON AND LOCKS NEVER ENGAGED, EVEN WHEN PRESSING THE LOCK BUTTON. PULLED OVER A 2ND TIME - WITH THE SAME RESULT. THE THIRD TIME I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND SAT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. AGAIN, THE SAME PLUS THE SHIFT INTO PARK ALARM ALSO SOUNDED AS SOON AS I REACHED SPEED WHEN THE LOCKS SHOULD ENGAGE. I CONTINUED HOME LISTENING TO 2 ALARMS BLARE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS LIMITING MY VIEW AND THE DOORS REFUSING TO LOCK. WHEN I GOT HOME, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON FOR ALMOST AN HOUR AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE; IT WASN'T UNTIL I PULLED THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE A COUPLE TIMES THAT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. THE NEXT MORNING, MY DRIVE TO WORK WAS UNEVENTFUL; THAT EVENING ON MY WAY HOME, BOTH ALARMS ARE GOING OFF, INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. ON THE SECOND EVENING, I NOTICED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING NEVER CAME ON AFTER I STARTED THE VEHICLE UNTIL I REACHED THE SPEED THE DOOR LOCKS SHOULD HAVE ENGAGED.
MY EDGE IS DRINKING A LOT OF GAS!
I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO STOP BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE BOOSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT STILL HAS ISSUES. SOMETIMES THE BRAKES WORK AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IS NO HELP. THEY SAID MY BRAKES ARE FINE. THEY ARE NOT FINE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.
17 YEAR OLD DRIVING HER CAR, WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, BRAKES FAILED, SHE ALMOST ROLLED INTO THE CAR BEHIND HER, BUT SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN IN THE TURNING LANE AND MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND DID THE RESPONSIBLE THING, CALL MOM AND DAD AFTER GETTING INTO A PARKING LOT. HUBBY DROVE IT HOME AND HE HAD TO SLAM THE PEDAL DOWN TO GET THE BRAKES, TO WORK, WE ARE WAITING FOR DEALERSHIP TO OPEN IN THE MORNING TO TOW THIS VEHICLE TO GET LOOKED AT AS IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
DRIVER DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTION. REMAINS LISTED AS 'AJAR' WHEN CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS MAY REMAIN ON WHICH MAKES VIABILITY AND ISSUE AT NIGHT.
FREQUENTLY A WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON STATING THAT THE COLLISION WARNING CENSOR IS BLOCKED. AS A RESULT THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK AND THE COLLISION WARNING FEATURE IS ALSO NOT WORKING. BY PRESSING AN 'OK' BUTTON THE WARNING LIGHT GOES AWAY AND THE SYSTEM SEEMS TO WORK PROPERLY. IT APPEARS THAT THIS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AFTER GOING OVER A BUMP BUT NOT ALL BUMPS. THE DEALER HAS QUOTED ME A PRICE OF NEARLY $2000 TO REPLACE THE WARNING CENSOR, AND BRACKET. HOWEVER, I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT THE CENSOR IS DEFECTIVE SINCE IT OFTEN WORKS PROPERLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND REVERSING ON AN INCLINE, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON. DOORS WON'T LOCK THE ENTIRE TIME I'M DRIVING. STARTED A FEW WEEKS AGO, ONLY HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY. NOW ISSUE IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT.

DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES, NOT SURE IF DOOR IS CLOSED ALL OF THE WAY OR NOT, DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON AS WELL. THIS HAPPENS WHILE PARKED WHETHER KEYS ARE IN THE IGNITION OR NOT AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING.
LIGHT COMES ON SAYING DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN, COME TO A STOP STARTS DINGING SHIFT TO PARK. CAR CANT BE LOCKED AT TIMES, AND WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. LIGTS WILL STAY ON RUNNING DOWN THE BATTERY IF YOU DONT TURN THEM OFF INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME TAKING TO DEALERSHIP, FORD CUSTOMER CARE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN BOTH INSTANCES, COST TO REPAIR IS OVER $600.
EARLIER THIS MONTH (AUGUST 2016) THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED LIT ON MY 2012 FORD EDGE. BROUGHT TO STEVENS FORD IN MILFORD CT. TOLD IT THAT THE SENSOR WIRE/DEVICE WAS "FRAYED" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPAIR PERSON SAID THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE SEAT MOVING BACK/FORTH. WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. COST TO FIX WAS OVER $400. MY ISSUE IS THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BARELY USED. THE SENSOR/WIRE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN "FRAYED" BY MINIMAL USE. WAS TOLD IF I DIDN'T FIX THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY. THERE IS A FLAW IN THEIR DESIGN IF THIS SENSOR IS IN AN AREA WHERE IT CAN BE DAMAGED EASILY.
CAR MOTOR LOST POWER DURING HIGH WAY, I WAS PASSING OTHER CARS AND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I ALMOST CRASH AND PUT MY FAMILY AND OTHER IN A VERY HIGH RISK BECAUSE THE CAR MOTOR JUST DIE WHILE DRIVE 7O MILES PER HOUR. MY FAMILY AND I ARE STILL IN SHOCK!!!! I KEEP READING ABOUT WHAT COULD BE WRONG, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND THEY RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM VERY QUICK, SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE, FORD SHOULD FIX THIS UNDER A RECALL, MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY (51K MILES) AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FIX AS WELL. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT, HELP FIX THIS PLEASE!
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR INDICATOR INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT WILL UNLOCK ALL THE DOORS AND SAY "SHIFT TO PARK". THE DOORS UNLOCKING AND NOT STAYING LOCKED IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN! IN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX.
WHEN WE SHUT THE DRIVERS DOOR WE GET A DOOR AJAR LIGHT.IT REMAINS ON EVEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THE DOOR. AND WHEN IT IS PARKED AND LOCKED THE LIGHTS WILL FLASH AND THE REAR HATCH WILL OPEN , AND THE HATCH HAS OPENED WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN WHEN I SAY DRIVEN I MEAN DRIVING DOWN THE HI-WAY VERY UNSAFE!!
DOOR AJAR WARNING WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS CAUSES DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON CAUSING DANGEROUS CONDITION WHILE REVERSING AT NIGHT AND KILLING THE BATTERY WHILE PARKED OVER NIGHT. THE "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING WILL SOUND WHILE DRIVING, AND THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL POWER BRAKE BOOSTER BAD ON MY 2012 FORD EDGE BASICALLY, THE CAR HAS A DELAYED HARD STOP.
DOOR IS AJAR DRIVE FRONT DOOR INDICATOR. HAD IT REPAIRED AT 36,000 MILES. ISSUE RETURNED AT 51,000 MILES. CAUSES CONFUSION WHILE DRIVING AND LEADING TO A DISTRACTED DRIVER.

THE DOOR LATCH FOR THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. MAJORITY OF THE TIME IT WILL CONTINUE TO SAY DOOR AJAR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU TRY TO REOPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. CAN BE WORRISOME NOT KNOWING IF THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THIS JUST RANDOMLY STARTED HAPPENING.

DOOR AJAR SENSOR FAILURE: 2012 FORD EDGE LEFT REAR PASSENGER "DOOR AJAR" SENSOR FAILS TO INDICATE WHEN DOOR IS SHUT/LOCKED INDICATING IT MAY STILL BE OPEN/UNLOCKED. THE SENSOR FAILURE AFFECTS THE FOLLOWING: - ALARM/INTRUSION DETECTION: SECURITY SYSTEM DOES NOT SET PROPERLY AND WILL ACTIVATE RANDOMLY IF SET. ATTEMPTING TO SET ALARM RESULTS IN THREE ABNORMAL HORN BLASTS INDICATING A DOOR IS AJAR. IN THIS STATE, ALARM WILL SOUND RANDOMLY WHICH IS HIGHLY DISRUPTIVE TO NEIGHBORS. IT IS UNSURE WHETHER THIS MODEL CAN LOCK WITHOUT SECURITY SYSTEM ENABLED, FORCING THE VEHICLE TO BE LEFT UNLOCKED. - ELECTRIC / BATTERY: DOME LIGHTS, AND OTHER DASH INDICATORS DO NOT SECURE MANUALLY AND CAUSE SEVERE BATTERY DRAINAGE. EXPENSIVE BATTERY REPLACEMENTS. - SAFETY: SMALL CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS, UNSURE IF DOORS ARE PROPERLY SECURED, DOUBT AND PEACE OF MIND IN FORD. THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED APPROXIMATELY AUGUST 2016. VEHICLE WAS PARKED. AT FIRST THE DOOR COULD BE OPENED AND RE-SHUT WITH FORCE AND SENSOR WOULD SELF CORRECT, BUT ULTIMATELY IT WOULD FAIL ALTOGETHER. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. FORD, WHERE IS THE RECALL!?
THE REAR LEFT DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS COMING ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE WARNING WILL POP ON WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE LIGHTS ALSO POP ON WHEN THERE IS NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR IS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
