DRIVER SEAT WARMER FAILED TO TURN OFF WHEN PRESSING BUTTONS ON MYFORD TOUCH SYSTEM, OR BY TURNING OFF CLIMATE ALL TOGETHER. IT REMAINED ACTIVATED ON HIGH SETTING FOR 35 MINUTES. SEAT WARMERS ARE SUPPOSE TO TURN OFF AFTER 15 MINUTES. ONLY GOT IT TO TURN OFF BY TURNING VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I FELT THE HEAT ON MY BACK SIDE FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR AFTER. THIS VEHICLE "PASSED" THE FORD CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED CHECK LIST. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS STARTING IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR MY CAR STARTED STALLING AND WOULD JUST CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. IT HAPPENED MANY TIMES AFTER THAT SO I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FIRESTONE BECAUSE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY SUGGESTED IT MAY BE BAD GAS AND THEY DID A THROTTLE BODY FLUSH. SO BETWEEN THE FLUSH AND USING MID GRADE GAS FROM A DIFFERENT STATION IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 1,000 MILES THEN THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. MY CAR WOULD SHAKE AND REV AND ON MANY TIMES CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, THANK GOD IT NEVER CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY WITH MY 2YR OLD DAUGHTER BEING WITH ME MOST OF THE TIME. I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND AFTER THE $100 DIAGNOSTIC THEY TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND FORD HAD RECALLED MANY THROTTLE BODIES RECENTLY JUST NOT FOR MY CAR YET AND THE THROTTLE BODY IS NOT PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN SO IT'S NOT COVERED. SO I HAD TO PAY $600 THAT I REALLY DIDN'T HAVE TO GET THIS ISSUE CORRECTED AFTER PAYING OVER $500 LATE LAST YEAR TO FIX THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON A 2012 VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THIS NEW THROTTLE BODY ISSUE IS THE LAST STRAW. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT AGAIN. *TR
DRIVER DOOR SENSOR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN DRIVER DOOR SENSOR LIGHT IS ON. MAY BE ISSUE WITH LATCH MECHANISM. POSES SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGERS BECAUSE ALTHOUGH VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE, LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE.IF SENSOR LIGHT IS ON. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WHICH FORD IS IGNORING. *TR
SYNC INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS DOWN SOMETIMES FOR DAYS AT A TIME. WHEN SYNC SHUTS DOWN, THE BACK-UP CAMERA IS NON-FUNCTIONING WHICH ELIMINATES SAFE BACKING. THERE IS NO WAY TO SEE SMALL PEOPLE OR ITEMS THAT MIGHT BE DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE....VERY DANGEROUS!!!
I PURCHASED MY CAR IN DEC 2013. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THE VERY NEXT DAY DUE TO THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUOUS ISSUE WITH THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR AND THE DOOR DOES NOT PROPERLY LATCH. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND IF I LOCK THE DOOR THEN THE ALARM GOES OFF ALL DAY OR NIGHT AT RANDOM. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE . I HAVE HAD IT FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS.
MADE 4 MILE TRIP FROM HOME TO CHURCH ON CHRISTMAS EVE 2013 AND UPON ARRIVAL AT CHURCH THERE WAS A PROFOUND SMELL OF GASOLINE AROUND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHICH ALSO PERMEATED THE PASSENGER CABIN. CONTACTED THE DEALER THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS TO ALERT THEN OF THE INCIDENT. THE RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY HAD PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON 05 FEB 2013 AND FOUND NO PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NO OUTSTANDING RECALL. I HAVE A PRINTED COPY OF THE RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD DATED 27 SEPTEMBER 2013 AND THE INFORMATION IS ALSO ON THE IDRIVEONLINE.COM WEBSITE SPECIFICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES CONTINUOUSLY IN ORDER FOR THE BRAKES TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING. WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE THE DOOR AJAR APPEARS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. WHEN LEFT LIKE THIS, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE ALARM WILL START SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THIS WAS A REPAIR THAT HAD TO BE DONE AS SOON AS I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEN AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER. IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN PERIODICALLY.
INSTRUMENT PANEL SAYING PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHEN DRIING. CAR LOCKS DO NOT LOCK DUE TO THIS MESSAGE ALSO, SEVERAL TIMES ALARM HAS GONE OFF ON ITS OWN BOTH ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING FOR TWO YEARS ALSO, WHILE DRIVING THERE SOMETIMES HAS BEEN A NOISE LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING INCORRECTLY
ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON I NOTICED A FUEL SMELL IN MY CAR AS I DROVE IT TO THE STORE. THE SMELL OF GAS WAS ESPECIALLY STRONG WHEN I HAD THE HEATER ON. UPON ARRIVING HOME I OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED A MIST COMING FROM BEHIND THE ENGINE NEAR THE PLACEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY IDENTIFIED IT AS A CRACKED FUEL LINE DAMPER. FUEL WAS LEAKING ON TO THE ENGINE AND INTO THE CABIN. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND NOTICED THAT THE 2012 EDGE HAD BEEN RECALLED PREVIOUSLY FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE SERVICE TEAM MEMBER, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT MY EDGE WAS MANUFACTURED AFTER THE DATES COVERED BY THE RECALL. THE REPAIR COST $700 BECAUSE I WAS A FEW THOUSAND MILES BEYOND THE 36,000 WARRANTY. *TR
WHEN THE EDGE IS STOPPED AND THE DRIVER DOOR IS OPENED AND THEN CLOSED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING REMAINS ON. THIS CAUSES THE INSIDE LIGHT TO REMAIN ON AND THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK. WHEN IN A PARKING LOT AT NIGHT THIS CAUSES A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR 5 OR 6 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL REGISTER THE DOOR IS CLOSED TO ALLOW THE DOORS TO BE LOCKED. THERE WAS ONE OCCASION THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPEN AND CLOSED THEN THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING CAME ON, I HAD TO FIND A PLACE TO PARK OUT OF TRAFFIC TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. ON ONE OTHER OCCASION I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE DOOR AJAR WARNING CAME ON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR UNTIL IT REGISTERED IT WAS CLOSED AGAIN. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2012 FORD EDGE. IN NOV. 2013 A WARNING STARTED SHOWING ON THE DASH EVERY TIME I CLOSE THE DOOR (EITHER DRIVER SIDE DOORS OR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS) THAT SAYS DOOR AJAR. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSE THE DOOR IT STILL SAYS IT. IF I IGNORE IT AND DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD ANOTHER WARNING POPS UP THAT SAYS SHIFT INTO PARK. WHEN THESE WARNINGS ARE ON THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AS WELL. WHICH COULD LEAVE TO A DEAD BATTERY . THESE WARNINGS GOING OFF EVERY FEW MINUTES IS VERY AGGRAVATING AND FOR ME A LITTLE SCARY AS WELL ESPECIALLY WHEN U R DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT SAYS WARNING SHIFT INTO PARK.... DRIVING HOME ON 78 FROM JULIAN AND HEARD A LOUD POP PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SAW THAT THE SUNROOF OVER THE BACK SEAT HAD EXPLODED. LUCKILY THE GRAND KIDS WEREN'T THE BACK SEAT THE GLASS STAY INTACT. TOOK THE CAR TO HELLER FORD WHERE WE BOTH IT AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE, SOMETHING MUST HIT IT AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR IT. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE GLASS TO COME SO POWAY GLASS CAN RE PLACE IT. THEN WE WILL SEE IF FORD IS GOING TO PAY FOR IT. *TR
WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKES TO STOP, IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND I WOULD NEED TO PRESS HARDER TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES. IF AT A STOP LIGHT WITH FOOT ON BRAKE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. THE PROBLEM WAS A LEAK IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH BECAUSE OF MY MILES ON THE CAR OVER 36,000, IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. *TR

THE PANEL SHOWS DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER CAR HAS BEEN LOCKED FOR SOME TIME THE LIGHTS GO ON EVEN IF THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR A WHILE WHILE THE DOOR AJAR IS ON, THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK-SAFETY ISSUE, CAR IN MOTION I TRIED GETTING THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TO REPAIR IT, THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT RECALLS ON MY ISSUES. BUT IF I WANTED IT REPAIRED IT WOULD COST ME $350.00 TO CHANGE THE SENSOR THAT MAY BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE DEALER SOLD ME A LEMON...THE DOOR AJAR COMES UP AS I CLOSE THE LEFT DOOR AS I PUT THE CAR IN MOTION;THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION; INTERIOR LIGHTS IS WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED; THE LIGHTS GO ON WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE BATTERY HAS DIED A COUPLE OF TIMES AS A RESULT OF THIS.

THE ALERT IS DISTRACTING AND INTERFERES WITH DETECTION OF OTHER ALARMS. DOOR LOCKS NOT BEING ENGAGED IS A SAFETY ISSUE, PARTICULARLY WITH CHILDREN IN VEHICLE. FUEL LEAK 2012 FORD EDGE, ECO BOOST WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 FORD EDGE ECO BOOST HOME FROM WORK ON CA101 I NOTICED A FUEL SMALL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. BY THE TIME I ARRIVED HOME (15 MILES LATER) THE FUEL SMELL WAS OVERWHELMING. ONCE I PARKED THE VEHICLE I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE I NOTICE A TRAIL OF FUEL BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND COULD HEAR "LIQUID" DRAINING FROM THE ENGINE SECTION. A LARGE POOL OF FUEL FORMED ON THE GROUND UNDER THE ENGINE SECTION. IN TOTAL AT LEAST ~4-6 GALLONS OF FUEL LEAKED ON THE ROAD AND MY DRIVE WAY. I NOTIFIED MY FORD DEALERSHIP, SANTA MARIA FORD (888)-440-7149, OF THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE (VIN:[XXX]). AS OF 8:45 AM PST, 10 OCT 13 THE CAR WAS BEING TOWED TO SANTA MARIA FORD FOR AN INSPECTION. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE ENGINE SECTION, THERE WAS DEFINITELY A POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE. SEPT 2013 - BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR IN REVERSE WITH VERY LITTLE RESPONSE. MOVING FORWARD ALMOST NO RESPONSE FROM BRAKES AND ALMOST HIT A CAR CROSSING IN FRONT. AT THE FORD DEALER, THE COMPONENT TEST MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND ALSO NOTED WITH BRAKE PEDAL WHISTLE NOISE WHEN PEDAL COMPLETELY ON THE FLOOR. REPLACED THE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER UNDER WARRANTY. JULY 2014 - BRAKE PROBLEM INTERMITTENTLY RECURS. BRAKE PEDAL SOMETIMES GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. FORD DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM. JULY 2015 - AT CAR START, BRAKE IS VERY FIRM THEN SLOWLY GOES ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. THIS OCCURS ABOUT EVERY OTHER TIME THE CAR IS STARTED. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE RECENT FORD F-150 INVESTIGATION OF THE ELECTRIC VACUUM ASSIST PUMP.
ON VARIOUS DATES, MOVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS (FROM PULLING INTO OR OUT OF A PARKING SPOT TO GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY) I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE EDGE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN AS IT SHOULD. AT TIMES, I BECAME AFRAID THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD REAR-END ANOTHER VEHICLE OR I WOULD HIT SOMEONE IN A CROSS WALK. I HAD TO PRESS VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES AND EVEN THEN, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT I WAS JUST BEING PARANOID, BUT WHEN THIS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN ONE DAY ON 9/17/13, WE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM INSPECT IT RIGHT AWAY. LATER THAT NIGHT, A FORD MECHANIC CALLED AND EXPLAINED THAT THE "BRAKE BOOSTER" WAS DEFECTIVE AND PRESSURE WAS NOT BEING APPLIED ADEQUATELY TO STOP THE CAR. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN APRIL 2012. I SEE NO REASON WHY THIS PART SHOULD HAVE GONE BAD IN JUST 1 YEAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RECOGNIZED THAT IT WAS IN THE PARK POSITION AND AS A RESULT, IT PREVENTED THE SEATS FROM RECLINING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY CASING WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE . THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

AT OTHER TIMES, THE DOOR AJAR LAMP LIGHTS AS SOON AS THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND BEFORE THE CAR IS TURNED ON AND THEY REMAIN ON EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS ARE MADE TO CLOSE THE DOOR SUCCESSFULLY. PASSENGER AIR BAG TURNS OFF AND THEN BACK ON AFTER FROM ONE TO 30 MINUTES OR MORE WHILE DRIVING DEALER-NO TROUBLE FOUND. REPORTED MULTIPLE TIMES. DEALER FINALLY REPLACED SENSOR MODULE 2/17/14. WAS BETTER, BUT STILL FAILED WHEN MY FRIEND WHO WEIGHS 110 POUNDS WAS IN THE SEAT. DEALER REPLACED PASSENGER SEAT TRACKS ON 5/19/15. BETTER, BUT STILL FAILED. BACK TO DEALER ON 6/17/14 AND AGAIN ON 9/18/14. FINALLY SAID THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED EVEN THOUGH MY FRIEND WEIGHS 110 POUNDS. THE OWNER'S MANUAL SAYS THAT THE AIR BAG SHOULD BE OFF WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED BY A SMALL CHILD. MY FRIEND IS NOT A SMALL CHILD AND ALWAYS WEARS HER SHOULDER AND LAP BELT. THE SYSTEM WORKED PERFECTLY FOR THE FIRST 29,000 MILES AND THEN STARTED FAILING. THE BAD PART IS THAT THE SIDE AIR BAGS ARE DISABLED ANYTIME THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF, THUS SHE WOULD HAVE NO PROTECTION IN ANY KIND OF A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. THE FINAL WORDS FROM THE DEALER ARE, "UNABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM OPERATION. OCCUPANT DETERMINED TO BE SMALL IN STATURE CAUSING SYSTEM TO DEACTIVATE. REVIEWED WITH FSE WHO IS IN AGREEMENT AT THIS TIME". THIS IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE DEALER WON'T SAY, OR CAN'T GET ANY ANSWER FROM ENGINEERING AS TO THE MINIMUM WEIGHT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT TO ACTIVATE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THERE MUST BE A SPEC THAT ALL CARS MUST MEET. *TR

I HAD TO PULL OVER, LUCKILY AVOIDING CARS AND POSSIBLE COLLISIONS. CAR DISPLAYED YELLOW WRENCH AND "AWD OFF" ON LEFT SIDE DISPLAY. ONCE IN SAFE AREA I TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED IT BACK ON WITHOUT IMMEDIATE INCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES WITHIN A WEEK, HOWEVER, AFTER CONTACTING FORD SERVICE STATESIDE I WAS TOLD TO GO TO AN ITALIAN FORD DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, I STOPPED AT TWO FORD SERVICE CENTERS LOCATED IN VICENZA, ITALY AND THE MECHANICS WILL NOT TOUCH MY CAR DUE TO THE MODEL NOT BEING SOLD ANYWHERE IN EUROPE. THE PROBLEM STOPPED UP UNTIL THIS PAST WEEK WHERE IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN TWICE WITHIN 3 DAYS AT, LUCKILY, LOW SPEEDS AND AVOIDING ALL CARS/HAZARDS. BRAKES BEGAN TO HAVE A HARD PEDAL WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE A FEW WEEKS AGO. HAD HARD BRAKE PEDAL THAT WAS NOT CONSISTENT AT FIRST, HAPPENED TWICE IN TWO WEEKS BUT WAS LESS NOTICEABLE. AND THAT HE HAD SEEN THREE (3) RECENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS CALLED A ?CLUE? I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL (PARKING LOT FROM WORK) THIS LEADS ONTO A BUSY AVENUE. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES I NOTICED MY VEHICLE ROLLED ONTO THE STREET,I COULD NOT STOP. I QUICKLY TURNED RIGHT. THANK GOD THERE WERE NO CARS COMING. I COULD NOT PULL OVER SO I DROVE SLOW GOING UNDER 10 MPH AND TURNED ON TO A ROAD AND PULLED INTO A PHARMACY PARKING LOT IN WHICH I LET THE CAR ROLL INTO A PARKING SPACE AND I CALLED THE TOWING COMPANY AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM. I WAS TOLD YESTERDAY THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. AFTER ASKING WHAT IT WAS, I THEN ASKED WHY AND HOW DID IT FAIL. THEY STATED IT WAS DEFECTED AND THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPEN AND THAT IS WHY NEW CARS HAVE WARRANTY'S. THEY WERE WAITING TO RECEIVE THE PART SO THEY CAN REPLACE IT. I'M NOT CONFIDENT THAT MY CAR IS SAFE AND I TOLD THEM I HAD A 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR.
