DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. PREVENTS DRIVER FROM KNOWING OF A REAL DOOR AJAR SITUATION. INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON, CREATING A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD AND WHEN SITTING IN CAR AT NIGHT. DOORS NO LONGER LOCK WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. FAULTY LATCH OR SENSOR. ALL ISSUES STEMMING FOR FAULTY DOOR LATCH OR SENSOR. THIS HAS CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS.
MY DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WILL NOT STOP ALERTING ME THAT MY DOOR IS OPEN REGARLESS OF THE DOORS STAET CLOSED OR NOT. SO NOW WHEN DRIVING MY INTERIOR OVER HEAD LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN AT NIGHT IMPAIRING MY VISION. FORD DEALER SHIP REFUSES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM I ONLY HAVE 35000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR THIS SAME FAILURE. THE FIRST TIME THEY FIXED IT AND IT LASTED ABOUT A YEAR NOW THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. NOT ONLY DO I HAVE TO DISCONNECT MY BATTERY AT NIGHT OR THE LIGHTS WEAR IT DOWN BUT NOW THAT MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AT NIGHT IT MAKES IT HARD TO SEE THE TRAFFIC AROUND ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHEN THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR CHIME SOUNDED AND THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE WENT AWAY WHEN THE DOOR WAS SLAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TERMINALS OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WERE CORRODED AND THE LATCH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
WHETHER IN MOTION OR NOT , DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON FROM LEFT FRONT DOOR. THIS IS DANGEROUS SITUATION
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, DRIVER DOOR SENSOR SHOWS "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND ALSO SHOWS WARNING LIGHT TO "SHIFT TO PARK"; TOOK TO THE DEALER & TOLD THEM I READ ONLINE OF MANY ISSUES LIKE THIS. DEALER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $95 DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE THEN FILE ON MY NON-FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY (& PAY DEDUCTIBLE) DANGEROUS IS GOING DOWN ROAD AT NIGHT AND THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE< WHY DOESNT SOMEONE MAKE FORD RECALL IT?
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON EVEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED SO THAT WHEN DRIVING ALL OF DOORS CAN'T LOCKED. INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DRIVING.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND SOUNDS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. DOME LIGHTS COME ON AND WON'T GO OFF.
THE DOOR LATCH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES AND TO DATE HAVENT BEEN RECALLED. MY VEHICLE KEEPS SHOWING THE DOOR IS AJAR NO MATTER HOW GENTLE OR HARD I CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS CAUSES PROBLEMS LIKE THE INTERIOR LIGHT NOT SHUTTING OFF WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD DURING NIGHTTIME. THIS ALSO DRAINS THE VEHICLE BATTERY. THE DOOR WON'T LOCK WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE AS ANYONE CAN OPEN.
VEHICLE WAS ENROUTE ON NORTHBOUND I-95 IN LORTON ON A SATURDAY WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD BANG. I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED AROUND AND UNDER THE BACK OF THE CAR. SEEING NOTHING I GOT BACK UNDERWAY. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I STARTING HEARING WIND NOISES. AFTER ANOTHER FEW MINUTES THE HEADLINER STARTING TO SAG. TURNS OUT THE SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED IN THE FRONT AND BACK. THE CENTER WAS STILL INTACT BUT CRACKING MORE AND MORE. TAKING IT INTO SERVICE ON MONDAY.
THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN DEC. 2013 AND AS OF TODAY HAS 54,500 MILES ON IT. AS OF TODAY IT HAS NOW GONE THROUGH 2 HEADLIGHT BULBS, ONE FOR EACH SIDE. THE FIRST WAS JAN. 2016 AND THE SECOND YESTERDAY. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE WAY THE HEADLIGHT HIGH/LOW BEAM SYSTEM IS MADE IN THE EDGE. A SINGLE BULB IS USED FOR BOTH HIGH AND LOW BEAM. WHEN THE DRIVER SWITCHES TO HIGH BEAM THE ENTIRE BULB SOCKED OR LIGHT HOUSING IS COMMANDED UP. THIS IS NOTICEABLE INSIDE THE VEHICLE WITH A LOUD BUMP FROM THE HEADLIGHT AREA. I BELIEVE THE FORCE OF THIS MOVEMENT CONTRIBUTES TO THE SHORTENED LIFE OF THE BULBS. IF DRIVING AT NIGHT IT'S POSSIBLE BOTH BULBS COULD BE BROKEN WHEN SWITCHING FROM LOW TO HIGH BEAM. SHOULD THIS OCCUR AT NIGHT IT COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH DUE TO LOSS OF VISIBILITY, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH.

VEHICLE DOOR SHOWS OPEN ALL THE TIME AND COMES ON DURING DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THIS WILL LIGHT THE DOME LIGHTS IN THE CAR AT NIGHT AND MAKES IT HARD TO SEE, VERY UNSAFE. ALSO CAR WILL NOT LOCK WHEN DOOR LATCH STICKS OR WHATEVER IT IS DOING. FLASHES ERROR WHEN CAR IS MOVING TO SHIFT TO PARK.
2013 FORD EDGE , THE DOOR LATCH SWITCH, NOT WORKING PROPERLY, CAUSING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO STAY ON AND ALSO THE INSIDE LIGHTS, THE DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS , SIGNALING THAT A DOOR IS OPEN WHEN THEY ARE CLEARLY ALL CLOSED, ON ONE INSTANCE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD REQUIRING ME TO GET A JUMP START. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL, AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM NO MATTER IF YOU ARE PARKED OR DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 95
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND INABILITY TO LOCK THE CAR DOORS WHILE DRIVING.
MY DRIVER DOOR DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON AND BECAUSE OF THIS MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND MY DOORS WON'T LOCK. AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES SOMETIMES IT WILL GO OFF. OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET THE LIGHTS TO GO OFF BUT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WILL STAY ON. AND WHEN YOU DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU STOP A WARNING LIGHT WILL GO OFF TELLING YOU TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL INTERFERE WITH YOUR VISION AT NIGHT AND ANOTHER CONCERN IS THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS.

DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND DINGS WHEN THE DOOR IS CLEARLY CLOSED. AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING SEVERAL TIMES IT WILL SOMETIMES GO OUT BUT AND SOON AS I SLOW TO STOP IT COMES BACK ON. SOMETIMES THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON TOO.
WHEN CLOSING MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON AND THE CHIME GOES OFF, AND THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON, EVEN AFTER SLAMMING THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK THE DOOR PANEL OFF AND "PERFORMED A HIGH CURRENT CLEANING OF DOOR AJAR CONNECTIONS" AT A COST OF $154.00 + TAX FOR ME.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR ISSUE- WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE DOOR LOCKS WILL ALSO NOT STAY LOCKED. THIS WILL HAPPEN WHETHER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN THE CITY. EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE THE CAR THIS WILL HAPPEN. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND PARKED THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON. I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE LIGHTS TO FINALLY SHUT OFF.
DOOR LATCH DID NOT PROPERLY SIGNAL WHETHER OR NOT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. DROVE AWAY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITH A DOOR THAT WAS NOT LATCHED PROPERLY BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS ALWAYS GIVING A FALSE SIGNAL THAT THE DOOR WAS OPEN.
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON. IT COMES ON EVERYTIME I START THE CAR. A MESSAGE APPEARS SAYING TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE DOOR, I HAVE DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE TIRED DRIVING FORWARD AND OPENING THE DOOR THEN SHUTTING IT WHILE STILL DRIVING FORWARD SLOWLY (SOMETIMES THIS WILL WORK TEMPORARILY) AND I HAVE ALSO TIRED DOING THE SAME IN REVERSE. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND BEEN TOLD TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST IS GOING TO COST $120 PLUS TAX THEN THE PARTS AND LABOR SO I'M LOOKING AT A COST OF $500 OR MORE! FORD KNOWS THIS VEHICLE HAS THIS ISSUE, SO WHY DON'T THEY DO A RECALL. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WHERE WE HAVE BEAR AND MOUNTAIN LIONS AND I STAND OUTSIDE FOR 10 MINUTES OR MORE WAITING FOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO GO OFF, WHEN THEY STILL DON'T, I AROUND THE CAR AND OPEN AND CLOSE ALL THE DOORS AGAIN AND WAIT SOME MORE. (AS A WOMEN I TRULY AM NERVOUS WHILE I'M OUT THERE) NOT TO MENTION HAVING TO DRIVE AT NIGHT HOPING I WON'T GET A TICKET BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. NO WONDER WHY CONSUMERS GET MAD AND DON'T WANT TO BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS ANYMORE. COME ON FORD MAKE THE RECALL HAPPEN ALREADY!!!!! *TR
WHEN I CLOSE THE DRIVERS DOOR THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE LIGHTS SHINING IN MY EYES. ALSO, THE DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON. WITH THE DOORS NOT LOCKING I COULD BE CARJACKED OR MY GRANDDAUGHTER COULD BE PULLED OUT OF THE CAR WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT OR INTERSECTION. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR IS NOT RECOGNIZED TO BE SHUT, THE INTERIOR AND OUTSIDE MIRROR LIGHTS STAY ON. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE MARCH AND HAVE LESS THAT 45000 MILES ON IT.. THE PROBLEM STARTED SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH LESS THAT 40000 MILES. FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM.

CAR DOOR SENSOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE NO LONGER REGISTERING THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. LIGHTS REMAIN ON, WARNING MESSAGE CONSTANTLY FLASHES, AND MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK WITH WARNING CHIME GOES OFF EVERY TIME I STOP THE VEHICLE, AND THE CAR DOES WILL NOT LOCK.
THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON ALONG WITH DOME LIGHT WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. CAUSED MY BATTERY TO DIE.

DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS KEEPS DOME LIGHTS ON AND SIDE MIRROR LIGHTS ALONG WITH THE DOORS NOT LOCKING WHICH IS A SECURE/SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO THE FACT THAT THE DOME LIGHT CAN BLIND THE DRIVER AT NIGHT AND THIS RUNS THE BATTERY DOWN. FORD DEALERSHIPS SAY ITS A KNOWN DEFECT FOR NEW AND USED VEHICLES AND I OPENED UP A CASE WITH FORD AND THEY REFUSE TO OFFSET THE COSTS TO FIX IT. THEY JUST SAY KEEP YOUR RECEIPT IN CASE THEY EVER DO A RECALL. THERE IS A PETITION ON LINE BECAUSE IT AFFECTS SO MANY PEOPLE. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS TO AVOID LAWSUITS! ITS A BURDEN TO CONSUMERS BECAUSE THE COST TO FIX IS OVER $500 AT A DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. DRIVE'S SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT CONSTANTLY DISPLAYS. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT DIM BECAUSE CAR THINKS DOOR IS OPEN WHEN LATCH IS SECURE. IN ADDITION, DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED. AS A WOMAN WHO TRAVELS A LOT AND GETS IN HER CAR, ALONE, OFTEN LATE AT NIGHT, I DO TRULY BELIEVE THIS TO BE A TERRIBLY SAFETY ISSUE!!! DOME LIGHTS OFTEN REMAIN ON EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF A NO ONE IS IN IT. I FEAR IT COULD DRAIN THE BATTERY DEAD WHEN CAR LEFT IN PARK AND OFF. IN ADDITION, I OFTEN HAVE DIFFICULTIES WITH THE CAR'S SYNC SYSTEM AND THE CAR ALMOST ALWAYS HAS EXHAUST/FUEL FUMES WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 60 MPH. I DON'T KNOW IF ALL OF THESE ISSUES ARE RELATED, BUT WITH A VEHICLE SO DEPENDANT ON ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FOR OPERATION I WORRY ABOUT A LIFE-THREATENING ISSUE!!!

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS AND SENSORS FAILED. THE DOOR SENSORS AND LOCKS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
THERE IS WATER LEAKING INTO MY FORD EDGE LEAVING A PUDDLE ON MY DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR, COMPLETELY SATURATING THE CARPET. THE WATER IS LITERALLY POOLING ON THE FLOOR UNDER MY FEET. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR SITS IDLE, UNDRIVEN, WHEN THERE IS RAIN. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AN A/C LEAKAGE, CONDENSATION, ETC. THERE IS WATER LEAKING FROM THE OUTSIDE INTO MY VEHICLE AND HAS NOW RESULTED IN RUSTING OF MY FLOORBOARD AND MOLDING TO MY CARPET. THERE IS A STRONG MOLD ODOR AND IS INTOLOERABLE UNLESS THE WINDOWS ARE OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE A CHILD WITH ALLERGIES AND HE CAN NOT BE EXPOSED TO THIS. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER RAIN . I HAVE VACUUMED UP THE WATER, DRIED THE CARPETING BUT IT REOCCURRES OVER AND OVER. MY FIRST INCIDENT WAS JUST A MONTH OR SO AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED. I WILL GET INTO MY VEHICLE IN THE MORNING AND YOU CAN VISUALLY SEE A PUDDLE ON MY DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR, SOMETIMES EVEN SUBMERSING MY FLOOR MAT, WHEN THERE WAS RAIN DURING THE NIGHT AND THE FLOOR WAS DRY WHEN I PARKED IT THE NIGHT BEFORE.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR GIVES OFF THE WARNING THAT IT IS OPEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. CHECKING ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH WHICH HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH FORDS AND I BELIEVE THEY NEED TO RECALL THIS ISSUE
WHEN TURNING INTO A DRIVE WAY AT LOW SPEEDS THE POWER STEERING GAVE OUT AND THE BREAKS AND GAS PEDAL WERE NOT RESPONDING AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE TO ENGINE MESSAGE CAME ON THE DASH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND GAVE IT A FEW MINUTES, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON AND HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY CODE NOR COULD THEY REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER HAVING FOR 3 DAYS. I AM WORRIED IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN AND AT HIGHER SPEEDS LIKE WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT FORD HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ON OTHER MODELS AND YEARS BUT NOT THE 2013 EDGE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ALARM DRIVERS DOOR AJAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS SHUT, I AM TOLD IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR, BECAUSE OF THIS THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SENSE THAT THE DOOR IS SHUT, IT CONTINUES TO DING AND FLASH BETWEEN "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" AND "SHIFT TO PARK" BECAUSE OF THIS, NONE OF THE DOORS LOCK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON (VERY TROUBLESOME AT NIGHT)
DOOR AJAR COMES ON WHILE THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND YOU HAVE THE OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR MORE THAN 50 TIMES FOR IT TO GO OFF ......FORD NEEDS TO REDESIGN OR REPLACE SENSORS/ DOOR LOCK MECH. ESPECIALLY NOT EVEN BEING 2,000 MILES AFTER REPLACEMENT AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE WITH OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS AND OTHER FORD VECHICAL OWNERS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM
WHILE DRIVING I LOST ALL ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WENT FROM 50MPH TO NOTHING WHILE GOING UP AN OVERPASS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH MY FORD FUSION AND IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. IN BOTH CASES THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT ME FROM CAUSING OR BEING INVOLVED IN VERY BAD ACCIDENTS WAS THE GRACE OF GOD! I JUST CALLED FORD AND THEY HAD NO THROTTLE BODIES IN STOCK BECAUSE FORD HAD PLACED A HOLD ON ORDERING THEM! NOW ISN'T THAT INTERESTING!! I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD PROMISED 2,000 TO BE SHIPPED OUT THIS WEEK. THAT SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN LOOKED AT FOR YEARS....WHY ISN'T SOMEONE DOING MORE THAN SLAPPING FORD'S HAND?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO APPLY AND MADE A LOT OF NOISE. WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED ,THE ENGINE TURNED OFF AND THE "ENGINE LOST POWER" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,520.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WAS CONSTANTLY DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE AFFECTED THE DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,760.
MANY MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE IM HAVING, THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR CENSOR GOES BAD. MY VEHICLE WONT LOCK BECAUSE ITS READING DRIVERS DOOR AJAR. ITS A SAFETY HAZARD AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE (ALWAYS INDICATING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR) COMES ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. I HAVE TO SHUT THE DOOR HARD SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE WARNING MESSAGE OR DOOR AJAR REMOVED. NOW THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES WHEN I AM DRIVING AND THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING APPEARS. THE WARNING MESSAGES ALSO SAY SHIFT TO PARK WHEN THE DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS.
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR ALARM IS CONSTANTLY ACTIVATED, EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT TIGHTLY. BECAUSE THE DOOR AJAR IS ALWAYS ACTIVATED MY CAR ALARM HAS STARTED GOING OFF RANDOMLY, SO NOW I CAN NO LONGER LOCK MY CAR WITHOUT FEAR THAT THE ALARM WILL BE SET OFF WHILE I'M AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE SENSOR FOR THE DOOR AJAR KEEPS DINGING, WHICH IS VERY DISTRACTING AND CAUSES CONFUSION. IT ALSO REFUSES TO GO OFF NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TRY CLOSING THE DOOR, SO THERE IS NO WAY SO STOP THE DINGING OR ALARMS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION.
I HAVE A FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT THAT IS ON. IT CAME ON JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. AS TIME WENT ON, IT CAUSED MY BATTERY TO GO DEAD LEAVING MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER STRANDED. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS UNFORTUNATELY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD IS UNWILLING TO ADDRESS. I ALSO DETERMINED THAT I NEEDED TO REMOVE THE DOME LIGHT FUSE TO DISABLE THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS FROM STAYING ON AND CAUSING ANOTHER BATTERY FAILURE. CHECKING WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP, I FOUND TO REPAIR THE WOULD COST ME $385.00, AND THAT THE PROBLEM HAS NO RECALL. THIS CONDITION IN MY OPINION IS DANGEROUS, NOT ONLY DOES IT CAUSE THE BATTERY TO EVENTUALLY FAIL, BUT IF YOU REMOVE THE DOME LIGHT FUSE, IT CAUSES THE DOOR LOCKS NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, SO YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK EACH DOOR AND THE HATCH, BECAUSE WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION, THE DOOR LOCKS WON'T LOCK. ALSO, YOU HAVE NO INTERIOR LIGHTNING AT NIGHT WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOORS, PLUS YOU LOSE THE LIGHTING ABILITY ON THE STEERING WHEEL COMPONENTS. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND ADDRESS. EVERYONE THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THAT HAS AN EDGE, HAS HAD ONE OF THESE SENSORS PROBLEMS ON AT LEAST ONE OR MULTIPLE DOORS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT FORD IS MORE THAN AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT DOESN'T CONSIDER IT RECALL WORTHY. I REALLY THOUGHT MORE OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAN THIS, BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AFTER SHUTTING THE DRIVERS DOOR, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, WHEN YOU STOP IT TELLS YOU TO PUT IN PARK. IT CAN HAPPEN ANY TIME, AND STOP AT ANY TIME. SOMETIMES YOU CAN SHUT THE DRIVERS DOOR A LITTLE HARDER AND IT WILL GO OUT. SOMETIMES, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS IS INOPERABLE, WHICH PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED WHEN THE CAR IS UNDERWAY. IT ALSO CAUSES THE LIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE TO STAY ON (ILLUMINATED) AT ALL TIMES CAUSING A TREMENDOUS DRAIN ON THE BATTERY , LEADING TO REPEATED BATTERY REPLACEMENT (WHICH IN ITSELF AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN). FORD KNOWS THIS SWITCH IS INFERIOR AND STILL THEY REFUSE TO RECALL IT.
MY DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, THE DOME LIGHTS STAY LIT. I HAVE TO KEEP CLOSING THE DOOR UNTIL THE LIGHTS GO OFF WHEN I LOCK IT. THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING WHEN THIS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON.
THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR SENSOR WILL NOT GO OFF NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU OPEN AND RE-CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS CAUSES THE FOLLOWING TO OCCUR: 1) WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR THOSE WITH CHILDREN 2) WHEN LEAVING THE CAR, THE DOOR IS NOT RECOGNIZED AS CLOSED SO THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT AND SIDE-VIEW MIRROR LIGHTS ALL REMAIN ON. THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY WHILE THE CAR SITS IDLE.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON AS IF DOOR IS OPEN. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CAR WILL NOT LOCK PROPERLY. WHETHER I AM IN MOTION PARKED OR JUST IDLE THE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON AND I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR 2-10 TIME EVERY TIME. ALSO, MY BACK UP CAMERA IS FUNCTIONAL BUT THE PICTURE WON'T COME UP ON THE SCREEN.
