DRIVER DOOR LATCH PROBLEM. THE DOOR SHUTS BUT THE WARNING SAYS THAT THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN AND THE CABIN LIGHTS AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON. THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING OR BACKING UP AT NIGHT.
OUR FORD EDGE HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER CONTINUING TO SWITCH ON AND GO TO THE AUTO SETTING. IT DOES THIS WHEN IT'S OFF OR ON. WE WERE TOLD THE COMPUTER WAS FAULTY. THIS STARTED OCCURRING IN 2016.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. EVERY TIME THE KEY WAS INSERTED INTO THE IGNITION, THE DOOR AJAR AND SHIFT TO PARK WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE DOOR WAS SLAMMED SHUT. THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY DAY FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE CIRCUIT THAT DETECTS IF THE DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSED OR NOT IS DEFECTIVE. AN INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT THE DOORS WILL UNLOCK (INCLUDING THE REAR DOORS) AUTOMATICALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ALSO, DUE TO THE VEHICLE BELIEVING THE DOOR IS OPEN, IT WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY AND LEAVE THE CAR UNABLE TO START AFTER PARKING. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, OR WHEN MOVING, AND WILL EVEN FAIL WHILE DRIVING EVEN AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR MANY TIMES TO ENSURE THE SWITCH ENDS UP IN THE RIGHT CONDITION. AT TIMES, IT TAKES 30 OR MORE OPEN CLOSE CYCLES FOR THE SWITCH TO OPERATE CORRECTLY, BUT WILL SOMETIMES "OPEN" AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR ONCE IN MOTION. SOMETIMES IT LOCKS PROPERLY BUT OTHER TIMES OPENING AND CLOSING WILL NOT FIX IT. DONT' KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO BE DRIVING WITH THIS ISSUE.
I HAVE TWO MAJOR PROBLEMS AND SAFETY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. FIRST IS THE POWER BOOSTER, WHICH IS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. SYMPTOMS OF BOOSTER ISSUE ARE SPONGY BRAKES THAT THEN WENT HARD WITH LITTLE RESISTANCE ACCOMPANIED BY HISSING SOUND COMING FROM BRAKES. THE SECOND ISSUE IS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THREE TIMES IN AS MANY DAYS WHEN FOOD IS ON BRAKE, THE BRAKE PUSHES BACK ESSENTIALLY HAVING LOST POWER BRAKES AND REQUIRING BOTH FEET FIRMLY PRESSED ON BRAKE TO EVEN REMOTELY SLOW CAR DOWN, UNABLE TO COMPLETELY STOP VEHICLE, AT THE SAME TIME I LOSE POWER STEERING AND CANNOT CONTROL DIRECTION OF CAR, THE WARNING LIGHT "LOW OIL PRESSURE" ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH. THIS DOES NOT SEND CAR INTO SO CALLED "LIMP HOME" MODE IT RENDERS THE CAR ESSENTIALLY INOPERABLE. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN IT RETURNS TO NORMAL DRIVING FUNCTION....UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I'VE BEEN LUCKY THAT THIS HAPPENED BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND IN STRAIGHT LANE STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON CITY STREETS. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ALONG A CURVY MOUNTAIN ROAD, ALONG THE COAST OR ON A LOS ANGELES FREEWAY MOVING 65 MPH..I DOUBT I WOULD HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE THROTTLE ISSUE IN THE EDGE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY GIVEN TO OTHER FORD MODEL CARS OR EVEN MORE THAT THIS ISN'T A SWEEPING SAFETY RECALL. I AM RISKING LIFE AND LIMB OF MYSELF AND MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN DRIVING THIS CAR. THIS IS MY FIRST FORD AND WILL PROBABLY BE MY LAST. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR ALARM GOES OFF AFTER THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THE ALARM BEGINS AS SOON AS THE KEY ENTERS THE IGNITION. HAVE CLOSED THE DOOR IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS (LIGHTLY, LITTLE HARDER), IT DOES NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION. ALARM ALSO GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING.
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE MARCH 29, 2016. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE STARTED RANDOMLY STALLING AND GOING INTO LIMP MODE AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE BUSY DC HIGHWAY WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK WHICH WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON BUT IT CUT OFF AFTER A RESTART. AUTO ZONE COULDNT READ THE CODES UNLESS THE CAR WAS MALFUNCTIONING AT THE TIME WHICH HAPPENS RANDOMLY. SINCE THE CAR IS STILL WITHIN THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS P2111 ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE ADVISOR AGREED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD MODELS AND I READ THAT A CONSUMER SAFETY PROGRAM WAS STARTED FOR OTHER FORD MODELS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE ADVISOR SAID IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGES I HAVE TO PAY $800+ DOLLARS TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. APPARENTLY SOMEONE HAS TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BEFORE FORD ISSUES A RECALL ON THIS KNOWN ISSUE. I HOPE THE NHTSA STEPS IN BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS! IVE ATTACHED A PICTURE SHOWING THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH AFTER ABOUT THE 10TH TIME THE CAR STALLED.
VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED BUT IT NEVER SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE STALLED BUT THE AIR CONDITIONING, RADIO, WINDOWS ETC CONTINUED TO WORK. VEHICLE'S ENGINE STAYED ON AND CONTINUED TO SPUTTER AND THE "YELLOW WRENCH" ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS IN A STRAIGHT FORWARD MOTION, MOVING LESS THAN 35 MPH, IN USE FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, THE WEATHER WAS HOT AND THE ROADWAY WAS DRY. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY PARTIALLY IN THE INTERSECTION. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, APPARENTLY THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE RESULTING IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY.
DANGEROUS AND FAULTY BRAKING SYSTEM. BRAKES SOMETIMES FEEL SPONGY AND TO THE FLOOR AND OTHER TIMES HARD LIKE A BRICK WITH VERY LITTLE GIVE AND THE CAR IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP AND IMPOSSIBLE TO BRAKE QUICKLY. THERE IS A HISSING SOUND PRESENT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. MOST CHALLENGING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR COMING OFF OF HIGH SPEEDS GOING DOWNHILL. TERRIFYING TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
FORD EDGE LATCH DOOR AJAR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON
DOOR AJAR LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON SAYING DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPEN. TAKES SEVERAL DOOR SLAMS TO GET THE LIGHT TO GO OFF. SAFETY ISSUES: LIGHT STAYS ON DAY OR NIGHT. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND THERE ARE KIDS IN THIS CAR. CAN'T LOCK DOORS OR SET YOUR ALARM WHEN LEAVING YOUR CAR=THEFT. I DID THE RECALL JUNE 6, 2015 AND NOW IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. BROUGHT IT TO FORD TODAY JUNE 2, 2016 AND QUOTED FIX PRICE IS $600.00. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US.

DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS COMING ON WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY SHUT. WHEN IT IS SHOWING, THE CAR IS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS AS THE CAR IS MOVING AND THE LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. NOT HAVING THE DOORS LOCK IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN THE CAR. ALSO, IT ALLOWS OTHERS TO OPEN THE DOORS UNEXPECTEDLY. FORD SHOULD STAND UP AND FIX THE SAFETY ISSUE. BEYOND THE SAFETY ISSUE THE BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED AS THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND WE DON'T NOTICE IT UNTIL WE GO TO USE THE CAR AGAIN.

MY DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALERT WILL POPUP, OF COURSE THE DOOR IS SHUT, I HAVE TO ON A DAILY BASIS RESHUT THE DOOR TO CLOSE OUT THE ALERT, THIS IS INTERMITTENT, I KNOW THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING WORSE, IT WILL OCCUR DURING THE DRIVE OF THE CAR, THE USUAL STUFF, WHEN THE DOOR IS AJAR, LITES COME ON, THE TONE, DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK. I KNOW AS WELL THAT SOMETHING IS REALLY GOING ON AS I SHUT THE CAR OFF, GO AND REMOTE LOCK THE CAR, THE CAR HORN BEEPS TWICE, ITS SUPPOSED TO BEEP ONCE AND THEN LOCK, OTHERWISE, THE DOME LITES REMAIN ON FOR OVER 5 MINUTES, AND THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK, WHICH TO ME IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. YOU CAN NOT LOCK THE MANUALLY EITHER THIS PROBLEM IS SLOWING DRAINING MY BATTERY. TO THE POINT I WILL BE STUCK SOMEWHERE. ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD.
GOING UP A HILL, STALLS OUT "LOW OIL PRESSURE" INDICATOR CAME ON. ALSO THE DOOR SECURITY BEEPS WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR OPENS FIRST.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SWITCH ALARMS ALMOST EVERY TIME CAR IS DRIVEN. RESULTS IN OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAYING ON WHICH CAUSES VISUAL IMPAIRMENT WHEN BACKING UP. ONCE GOING FORWARD ALARM AND LIGHTS GO OFF. MUST VISUALLY CHECK DOOR TO ENSURE DOOR IS CLOSED AND NOT AJAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED FOR SAFETY ISSUES.
WHEN I ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED I GET AN EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I HAVE BEEN TO MY DEALER 4 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A HEALTH ISSUE. I AM UPLOADING MY SERVICE RECORDS FOR YOUR PERUSAL. THIS BEGAN IN MAY 2016 AND CONTINUES TO THE PRESENT (12/2017).

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS ALWAYS REPORTED AS AJAR. THE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING, IF YOU MANUALLY LOCK THEM THEY ARE IMMEDIATELY UNLOCKED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES STAY ON WHICH MAKES DRIVING AT NIGHT DIFFICULT. IF YOU LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AFTER PARKING, LIKE IN THE GARAGE, IT WILL RUN DOWN THE BATTERY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT DOME LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT IT'S DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT DUE TO DOMELIGHT STAYING ON ITS DISTRACTING CAUSE DOOR DING SOUNDS OFF WHILE DRIVING BEEN STRANDED ONE TIME CAUSE DOME LIGHT STOOD ON BUT THE ONE THATS THE WORST I WAS SO USED TO STILL DRIVING WITH LIGHT ON I WAS IN MY PARKING LOT LUCKILY WITH WIFE I TURN ON CAR DOME LIGHT IS ON SO I FIGURE DOOR IS SHUT ITS JUST THE SENSOR GOING OFF LIKE ALWAYS BUT DOOR SHUT THIS TIME THE DOOR WAS OPEN NOT SHUT I TURN AND FALL OFF CAR LUCKY WIFE PRESSED BREAK ONE DAY A PERSON IS GOING TO THINK ITS JUST THE SENSOR GOING OFF AND DOOR IS LOCKED WHILE ACTUALLY ITS OPEN GET HURT AND ILL BE THE FIRST WITNESS FOR THAT PERSONS LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD CAUSE THEY ARE ACTING LIKE THATS NOT A RECALL SITUATION SHAME ON FORD I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AND WILL TELL EVERYONE AND THEIR BROTHER THE SAME THING THEY SAY BUY A FORD CAUSE ITS FORD TOUGH BETTER SAID FORD TOUGH LUCK
EXPERIENCED 2 SEPARATE INCIDENTS OF CONSISTENT PROBLEMS WITH DOOR AJAR LIGHT BEING SIGNALED WHEN IN FACT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. FIRST INCIDENT AT 37027 MILES, SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY. SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AT 54000 MILES. SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO NEEDING TO PUT CAR IN PARK IN ORDER TO ATTEMPT ANOTHER DOOR CLOSE. MUST OFTEN SLAM THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE LIGHT TO TURN OFF. TSB 14-0083 SUGGESTS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES.
2013 FORD EDGE WITH 37K MILES. DRIVER "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. CAUSING DOORS NOT TO LOCK WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION GOING DOWN ROAD/HIGHWAY. ALSO CAUSES INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON, UNABLE TO SEE OUT THE WINDOWS WHILE THE DOME LIGHTS ARE ON WHILE NIGHT DRIVING. REAR VIEW CAMERA GLITCHES ON AND OFF AND FLIPS UPSIDE DOWN WHICH CAUSES DISTRACTION WHILE BACKING UP AND UNSAFE OPERATING CONDITIONS.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT!INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND IT TELLS YOU TO SHIFT THE CAR TO PARK. DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SHUT THE DOOR IT IS STILL SENSING IT IS OPEN. I HAVE TO SHUT THE DOOR MULITPLE TIMES AND USE THE KEY FOB UNTIL THE LIGHTS GO OFF SO THE BATTERY DOES NOT RUN DOWN. YOU CAN SHUT THE DOOR AND FINALLY GET IT TO TURN OFF, THEN START DRIVING AND IT WILL TELL YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR AND THE DOME LIGHTS COME ON. THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER TO REPAIR IS $500.00. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE MY DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WHILE IT IS SHOWING ITS AJAR AND I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT THAT COULD OPEN IT, IT IS VERY DISTRACTING, FRUSTRATING AND WHEN IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT MY LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AND YOU CAN NOT SEE CLEARLY. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS AND IS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD IS NOT CONCERNED AS WELL!!!!

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SECURELY LOCKED ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR MECHANISM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING. CANNOT LOCK DOORS, INTERIOR LIGHTS GO ON, WARNING CHIME SOUNDS. VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WITH DOORS UNLOCKED. DEALER SAID NO RECALL. HAD TO PAY $366.10 FOR A "POSSIBLE" FIX BY CLEANING CONTACT LATCH WITH TOOL AND RECYCLED PER TSB 15-0013.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND MY BRAKES FAILED. I HAD TO HIT THE CURB TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUED , I WAS TOLD MY BOOSTER FOR THE BRAKES FAILED AND IT WAS TOO NEW OF A VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPORTED AND ADDRESSED BY THE FORD COMPANY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS NO WARNING AT ALL AND THIS REPAIR WAS VERY COSTLY.

INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS SOMETIMES STAY ON IN THAT THE SENSOR INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN. DEALER VERIFIED SENSOR ERROR ALSO NOTED THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM FORD EDGE VEHICLES. THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER TO REPAIR IS IN EXCESS OF $400.00. THIS IS A NON-WARRANTY PROBLEM THAT HAS MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS.
DRIVER AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. A WARNING DINGING KEEPS SOUNDING. INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS SOMETIMES STAY ON IN THAT THE SENSOR INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS IS A NON-WARRANTY PROBLEM THAT HAS MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS.
DOOR AJAR, LIGHTS ON WARNING. DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED BUT DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON CAUSING INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON AND BEEPING NOISE. SAFETY HAZARD. COST IS ABOUT $400 TO FIX. GRRRR.

DRIVER'S DOOR "AJAR" ALARM IS ON CONTINUOUSLY, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. ALARM NOTIFICATION AND CHIME COMES ON EVERY TIME CARE STARTS MOVING FORWARD. NOTIFICATION STATES TO PUT CAR IN PARK. INTERNET SEARCHES REVEAL THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE.
DOOR SENSOR IS NOT WORKING. THE SIGNAL COMES ON THAT SHOW DOOR AJAR WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT TIGHTLY. ALSO A DINGING NOISE STARTS AS SOON AS I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, WITHOUT EVEN TURNING THE KEY.
DURING ACCELERATION A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR ENTERS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE FORD SERVICE AT THE DEALER STATED THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A BULLETIN STATING THAT THE BODY SEAMS IN BACK NEAR THE REAR BUMPER NEED TO BE RESEALED, VENTS REPLACED AND A FUSER USED TO SEAL THE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE - ALLOWING DANGEROUS EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. FORD REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS AT THEIR EXPENSE ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW THAT CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE.
FORD EDGE 2013 "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. IT STAYS ON CONSISTENTLY. IT CAUSES THE DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON LONGER, EFFECTING MY BATTERY AND SAFETY WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE WARNING SIGNAL COMES ON EVERY TIME I STOP CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD AS MY ATTENTION IS SHIFTED OFF THE ROAD TO MY GAUGE AND THE NOISE. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE I HAVE NO WAY OF TELLING IF MY DOOR IS REALLY AJAR BECAUSE THE LIGHT IS ON CONSISTENTLY, EVEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. I HAD THE MECHANISM CLEANED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP, IT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT A MONTH, AND NOW IS ON AGAIN ALL OF THE TIME. I TOOK IT AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW LATCH KIT. MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY DOOR AJAR PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAVE CHILDREN AND IF THE DOOR AJAR IS ON THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK. IT ALSO MAKES THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I STOP MY VEHICLE IT CONSTANTLY IS MAKING DINGING NOISES AND TELLING ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT MY DOOR. DOOR AJAR LAMP STAYS ON, DRAINS BATTERY. COMES ON WHILE DRIVING, FORCES PULL OVERS ON FREEWAYS TO GET THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO GO OFF.
Door ajar shows not closed, it’s closed. This is a safety hazard. Plus the interior lights never shut off and drain the battery. Other similar car with the same door latch assembly in ford cars have been recalled, why not mine. Multitudes of Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same problem. Just look online. Please make Ford accountable for this model as well. Thank you.
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND THE SHIFT TO PARK WARNING COMES ON THE BELLS DINGS AND ALL INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON.WHETHER THE CAR IS ON OR NOT, THE LIGHTS STAY ON. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WON'T SHUT OFF. I CANNOT OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR TO GET THE WARNING TO GO OFF. ALSO THE DASH LIGHTS AN OVERHEAD LIGHTS WILL COME ON WHEN NO ONE HAS EVEN BEEN IN THE CAR IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY!! I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AD THE TOLD ME TO TRY TO GET MY THIRD PARTY WARRANTY TO COVER THE REPAIRS.THIS IS ALL BULL CRAP, FORD NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPAIR EVERYONE'S PROBLEM.
I WAS AT A GAS STATION. I FORGOT TO PUT THE CAR INTO "PARK". HOWEVER, I WAS ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE KEY AND LOCK THE DOOR. I HAD MY BACK TO THE CAR WHEN I WAS PUTTING MY CREDIT CARD INTO THE PUMP. I HEARD SCREAMS AS PEOPLE RAN OUT OF THE MARKET AND YELLED THAT THE CAR WAS MOVING DOWN A HILL. AS I TURNED I SAW MY CAR CRASH INTO A PARKED TRAILER (18 WHEEL TYPE.) ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A LOT OF DAMAGE TO MY FRONT END AND I BENT THE STEEL STEP ON THE CAB NO ONE WAS HURT. MY DOG MERELY FLEW INTO THE WELL OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD MANY FRIENDS CHECK THEIR CARS AND NO ONE WAS ABLE TO TAKE OUT THE KEY UNLESS THE CAR WAS IN PARK. HOWEVER, THESE CARS WERE NOT A FORD EDGE. SINCE THE ACCIDENT I HAVE TESTED MY CAR MANY TIMES AND I CAN ALWAYS PULL THE KEY OUT. AS YOU KNOW WHEN A CAR IS IN DRIVE IT ACTS LIKE ITS IN NEUTRAL AND CAN REACT TO INERTIA. AT THE TIME I WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS ON A SLANTED DRIVEWAY. A CHILD IN MY CAR COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS INJURY. SOMEONE NOT PAYING ATTENTION COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY MY CAR. I CHECKED WITH MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE FORD EDGE ABOUT MY SAFETY ISSUE. LOCAL DEALER NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING AND I CAN NOT REACH A LIVE PERSON AT THE FORD'S WORLD HEADQUARTERS. THERE IS NO PROMPT FOR A SAFETY CONCERN.. AS OF NOW I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMGES TO MY CAR AND TO THE CAB. LEFT FRONT BUMPER AND LIGHT DAMAGED.
MY DOOR AJAR ALARM STAYS ON EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS CLOSE SECURELY. GOT FIX LAST YEAR AND IT HAD AGAIN. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ON ALL THE FORD VEHICLES APPARENTLY. PLEASE RECALL THIS ERROR.
BRAKE EXTENDED WARRANTY 13N02: WARRANTY COVERS VEHICLES THROUGH BUILD DATE 3/2013 MY VEHICLE HAS BUILD DATE 7/2013 BUILT AT SAME PLANT LISTED IN WARRANTY EXTENSION 13N02. I EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN 13N02.MY VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED. I'M SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. ITS THE BRAKES. SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. ALL VEHICLES WITH THE BRAKE PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED.

FORD EDGE 2013 ERROR CODE "DOOR AJAR" WOULD RANDOMLY COME ON WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING WHEN THE DOOR WAS ACTUALLY CLOSED. DOOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPEATEDLY CLOSED IN ORDER TO MAKE THE "DOOR AJAR" ERROR GO AWAY. "DOOR AJAR" ERROR WOULD COME BACK EVEN IF THE DOOR WAS CLOSED SUCCESSFULLY WITHOUT THE ERROR BEFORE. WHILE DRIVING, "DOOR AJAR" WARNING WOULD SOUND OFF TRIGGERING DASHBOARD LIGHTS WHICH WOULD STARTLE THE DRIVER AND CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED, "DOOR AJAR" ERROR WOULD PREVENT LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE FROM TURNING OFF. "DOOR AJAR" ERROR WOULD PREVENT THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED VIA REMOTE OR LOCK BUTTON IN THE CAR.

DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR SEEMED TO BE CLOSED. THUS DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK AND OCCASIONALLY WARNING LIGHTS WOULD FLASH, DISTRACTING ME AS I DROVE. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY FRONT DOOR LATCH, WHICH THEY REPLACED FOR $425.65. SEE #2 ON THE ATTACHED.
