While driving 45 mph the brake pedal suddenly lost pressure and went to the maximum distance before it started braking and the rate of braking was lowered. My safety and those around me were put at risk of an accident because I could no longer judge the proper pressure to apply to the brake pedal. The brake warning light is illuminated. The problem was reproduced by service stations.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to slow down as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake booster pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 144,000.
The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor without stopping the car. It makes a hissing sound. I have almost had three collisions because of it. The Ford service center told me it's three months outside of the manufacture date range for a warrantied service of the brake booster on select Ford Edge models manufactured at their Oakridge plant between May 3, 2010 and March 28, 2013. (13N02) My car was manufactured at that plant on June 24, 2013. The warranty extends replacement of the booster pump on cars for 10 additional years up to 150,000 miles. My car's warranty start date is April 21, 2014 and it has less than 100,000 miles. That means it is with in the warranty parameters, except for the date of manufacture. I have opened a case with Ford customer service, but they are telling me that the repair of the brake booster cannot be covered under their warranty extension.
Vehicle will not idle at the correct rpms. Replaced battery and alternator had everything checks by a certified mechanic. The battery light will come on while driving and the car will begin to stall out while driving. Cannot run ac or any electric component in the car. Really scary when you have kids in the car driving down the road and it begins to shut down but still going the same rate of speed.
The brake pedal became difficult to depress at very low speed and rendered the vehicle difficult to completely stop. There was no warning light or other indication of defect. At one point I could have potentially had a collision with another vehicle at an intersection when I started to go but stopped. The brakes worked normally at higher speed. I took the vehicle to a repair shop which said the brake power booster was bad and needed to be replaced. Before the work was commenced I ran the VIN through both the Ford and NTHSA websites to see if there was any recall or other information on this problem and found nothing. After I got the car back I did some research on the issue and found there was a problem with this part in the same year and same plant where my vehicle was manufactured, to wit 2013 in Ford's Oakville plant, and that Ford had given extended warranties on the brake booster part to 150,000 miles on certain vehicles made in the plant but not mine. Reference number is 13N02. I have written Ford about this but they disclaimed responsibility. I do not have the part, as the repair shop had disposed of it before I found about the part problem in the Oakville plant.
2013 Ford Edge. My dad's Ford Edge started having brake issues with the pedal going to the floor and the car not stopping. We replaced the master cylinder, and ABS Control Module with dealer parts and the issue continued. We then replaced the brake booster. Same issues are still there. We've even hooked up our $4,000 scanner to do the brake bleeding process. The brakes have been bleed well over 20 times now. We've spent over a mouth trying to fix this issue. My husband is a ASC Certified Master Tech and has been working on cars for well over 25 years. We're at a loss with this issue. Ford needs to do a recall, there are numerous reports on line of this issue happening to other Ford edge owners. It is Unsafe to have these vehicles on the road when the brakes are not working properly.
Braking is delayed Car is still traveling once brake is applied Hear a hissing noise Took to auto repair Technician said he cannot fix This is the 8th Ford Edge that he has unsuccessfully repaired Believes it is actuator
I purchased my Ford from a used car lot and only 3 months later without any alerts my brake pedal goes to the floor. It makes a hissing sound like air being released. My brakes and fluid are fine? Why are their recalls on my same year vehicle, but not mine. I understand replacing brake booster, master cylinder will NOT help. Now I am broke from purchasing my Ford, I can't afford to dump more money into a vehicle that can't be fixed. You need to recall the entire car! Now my dash lights go crazy, even ABS once? This car is a freaking lemon and someone is going to get hurt. Then Ford will responsible for their manufactory error?
My vehicle on paper would qualified for the Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02 for brake booster replacement. Not sure why VIN is not coming up under the program. I have a 2013 Edge and just had a brake booster failure with delayed braking (not sure when the vehicle would come to a stop) and hissing when brake pedal is pressed. I took it to a Ford affiliated repair shop for diagnostic and found brake booster "inoperable". Other 2013 Edge vehicles assembled at the same factory in the same year were included in the replacement program. I have attempted to contact local Ford dealerships and Ford corporate with no response. This extension of warranty was 10 years or 150,000 mile. I purchased the vehicle January 2014 as a new car.

THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN A PORBLEM FROM DAY ONE. WE CHANGED THEM TO A BRIGHTER BULB AND WE CANT SEEM TO GET THEM ADJUSTED. DOOR AJAR HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THE RIGHT REAR AND NOW IS DOING THE SAME THING ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS "HARD" WHEN WE PUSH IT AND I HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER YET IT SHOWS OUR EDGE HAS NO RECALLS. WE WILL BE TAKING IT TO OUR MECHANIC TO BE CHECKED.

while driving brakes become stiff, hard to press pedal down. no lights came on or any other kind of warning. had a close call with vehicle in from of me, had to swerve out of way.
While driving the 2013 Edge Sport/vehicle just stalls out, tool light appears on for a couple of seconds then shuts off, vehicle doesn't accelerate, and then vehicle shuts off. Vehicle does start back up. This happen more than one occasion. Called dealership - Waiting to get my vehicle in the shop. Very dangerous because I was in the middle lane and almost got rear-ended and but myself and my son in danger along with other drivers. No prior engine light or any other light on beforehand.

Window switch on driver’s door quit working. Switch for rear passenger windows also not working. Front passenger window switch works. Possible cause is faulty wiring harness in the door (only one blue wire comes loose from the plug, causing the driver’s window switch to go dead.)
Brake booster went out just out of warranty. Brakes would work, then not work. Brake petal goes to floor, or would be hard to press. Almost drove into the dealership window when taking it in for service.
* Brake booster failure. * Ford posted a letter dated 1/9/14; it’s a Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 13N02 for “certain” 2010-2013 Edge and MKX vehicles; an extended warranty coverage for brake boosters. * Vehicles covered; “certain” vehicles built at the Oakville Assembly Plant from 5/3/10-3/28/13. * The program extends the coverage of the brake booster to 10 years of service or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle, whichever occurs first; it is a one time repair program. * Reason for additional coverage; brake booster may develop a small tear in the diaphragm; if this happens there is a “hissing” noise when the brake pedal is depressed and there is also a “spongy” pedal feel. * Service action; dealers will replace the brake booster at no charge. Details about my 2013 Edge: * It was built in Nov 2013 at the Louisville Assembly Plant. * I purchased it in April 2014; a little over 9 years ago. * It has almost 77,200 miles. * My brake booster has a “hissing” noise and a “spongy” pedal. Why does this CSP extended warranty only cover vehicles built at the Oakville Plant and not other plants? I “assume” my Edge has the same brake booster in it as the ones built in Oakville. That’s the only reason mine is not covered. Ford obviously knows they had problems with these brake boosters but only provided the extended warranty to vehicles built at the Oakville Plant. Why? I think it should cover ALL brake boosters from the manufacturer who made the ones for Oakville regardless of where the vehicle was built. What difference does it make where a vehicle was built if it has a defective brake booster? Please review and assess the situation and advise at your earliest convenience. Thank you. My daughter was driving the car and the vehicle stalled out. A warning light for low oil pressure came on however the oil was change 1 week ago. This is very dangerous because she was on a very busy highway. Also when putting gas in the car it sometimes will not start.
I am having problems once again with my brake booster...I had to have it replaced twice so far in the last 2 years. And now i suddenly have to push much harder on my brakes to stop my car & therefore have it repaired or replaced, yet again.
Brake booster went bad on the vehicle after 8 years. Brake pedal had to be pressed to the floor. The fuel line had a leak so anytime gas was put into the vehicle it would leak down the frame to the ground. Wiring for the back up camera goes in & out. I’m afraid of the brakes not working & a fire being caused by the leaking fuel or faulty electrical lines connecting the rear camera to the display.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an oil change, the contact was informed that the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
Break booster with leak noted requiring replacement. Turbo boost needing replacement. After turbo boost replacement, began having a shudder during acceleration between 40-48 mph. Now needing torque converter replaced.
I have a 2013 Ford Edge. Mileage approx 55,000 miles. All scheduled maintenance was up to date. In July 2023, while driving, car started to decelerate. No noises, smells or loss of steering. It was as if my gas pedal just stopped working. My dash had a warning to refer to owners manual. I Thank the Lord there was a break in traffic and I could "coast" to the emergency lane. I shut off the car, restarted it and everything was fine. Took it to my repair shop, they did a fuel injection cleaner and said...see how it goes. Cost: 150.00. 5 weeks later, August 2023 the same thing happened. Went back to repair shop where they diagnosed I needed a throttle body assembly replacement. Tack on another 450.00 bill. In both cases the power loss could have resulted in an accident with bodily injuries. My complaint about the Ford throttle body is not the first, a recall should be issued!
While driving on 2 lane highway coming to a Stop sign, brake pedal depressed all the way to the floor without fully stopping vehicle. There was a hissing sound when depressing the pedal. Had to implement the emergency parking brake in order to stop completely. There were no warning lights and this has not happened before. I drove it home with hazard lights on and at every stop I pumped the brakes, heard the hissing sound but pedal goes to floor. When got home I checked brake fluid reservoir, it was full. I do not see any fluid leaks on driveway. I checked a Ford forum and see many incidents like this described, too many. Apparently this is a known issue by Ford and there is a TSB 13N02 (brake booster). This could have been a horrible incident if there had been other cars in the intersection.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, there was an abnormal hissing sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact released the brake pedal, and the power brake functionality would return. The contact stated that the brake failure had become a recurring failure. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to Manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Program: 13N02 - Extended Warranty Brake Booster (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty coverage. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Door ajar switch won't work on passenger door to turn off the interior lights and leaves door ajar warning in dash on when driving....runs down battery...has been happening since May 2023
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera displayed a distorted image. The contact stated that the rearview camera had previously been replaced in 2020 under warranty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN and referred her to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while in reverse(R), the rearview camera displayed a blank image. Additionally, the contact also stated that upon shifting to drive(D), the rearview camera remained activated temporarily. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall, and the contact was provided an estimated fee for the repair. The contact declined to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a vehicle safety complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
When I hit a pot hole or bump I have no brakes. They go all the way to the floor. My mechanic will not touch them due to brake failure on all the Ford edges. I was told To contact you.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 30-40 MPH and making a turn, the brake pedal was depressed and went down to the floorboard, and the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
Since first purchasing the vehicle from Larry H. Ford in Mesa, AZ in 2019 and returning it for repair due to inoperable brakes, the issue has returned time and time again. It is now happening again where I either have to either press the brake peddle completely to the floor or the vehicle will not come to a complete stop at all. This has become extremely costly and I would like to know if this is an issue specifically associated with the 2013 Ford Edge and find some resolve.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while reversing, the back over prevention camera failed to function as intended with the back over prevention warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the back over prevention camera displayed a green screen. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 113,600.
The abs module has gone bad numerous times and is in a shop again for the third time in two month. I've havent been able to drive my car for two months at first it was the master cylinder and then the abs unit and then the brake booster and now the new abs unit again! After extensive research my husband and I found that this is very common in my vechile model but not enough cars to be issued a recall. Which I think is a massive safety issue because your brakes are very important. If your brakes fail you, you could not only injure yourself and your passengers but others around you. Right now my vehicle is at my local ford dealership and they also agree that this is a very common problem and ford isn't recalling them and making customers pay thousands of dollars for the new part and service. I was even told some times you don't get a working abs unit and have to keep going through the service part warranty until you get a good one. Which I feel causes more lost time with my vehicle staying in the shop until I get a good one.
Brake vacuum pressure system went out. Only 101k miles and 10 years old......
when was driving pushed the brakes and it went straight to floor almost causing me to rear end the car in front of me. dealer said said it is the booster. no police or manufacturer inspection. no warning lights or any other symptoms
The tailight bulbs are melting the plastic around the lights. This hss been an issue for me and millions of other drivers who own 2013 Ford Edges. https://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/9037-burntmelted-taillight-bulbssockets/
Car has trouble starting/running often every time the tank is full. Numerous shops can not find the issue
i have ran my VIN on multiple site and the dealership said the did their inspection on the vehicle. The VIN is showing that there is no recalls on this car. However we noticed things going wrong with the Edge. Even though we bought the car as is, this shouldn't be happening if they did things right. The back up camera saying to contact the dealership, we have to go into the settings and switch from park to drive to somewhat fix the problem. The sync and myford touch has been update as of last week, to 3.10. However the system will switch songs, inputs and even go into the settings while the vehicle is on; without anyone touching the screen. The dealership has told me that they put in a new battery and that everything is fine when we bought it. Its not making any sense, i dont believe that they did the inspection the correct way or they wouldve noticed the issues and wouldve been resolved. I have even went so far as to take it to the dealer and show him but of course my car decided to work in that moment, until i left
I was driving on the highway and someone rapidly stopped in front of me. When I went to push my brakes, my brake pedal with straight to the floor and the car would not stop, almost causing a collision with the car in front of me. Brake system failed, no warning lights. This has been an known issue with this car for others but still no recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, with the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard, the brake pedal made an abnormal hissing sound and vibrated, failing to stop the vehicle as expected. The contact stated that an abnormal amount of pressure on the brake pedal was needed to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to Customer Satisfaction Program: 13N02, but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 78,000.
I noticed when pressing on the brake pedal it was going to the floor vehicle was not slowing or stopping as it should. I heard a squealing and whistle sound then the check engine light came on. I called the dealership, and they said confirmed the brake booster was internally leaking vacuum causing the check engine light to come on. The brake light is on once again and again the dealership contacted for an appointment. I took the liberty contacting Ford for any recalls and was directed to contact NHTSA and report.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed but was extremely firm. The brakes failed to respond as needed. The driver placed both feet on the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The contact pulled over, and her husband drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the failure recurred. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 151,049.
I was driving when my car suddenly shut off WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY!! the steering wheel became locked and I couldn’t even steer it off the road. It started stalling while driving too.
With no warning lights or other apparent issues brake pressure suddenly disappeared resulting in the brake pedal sinking to the floorboard before the vehicle would even slow down or stop. This first happened in September 2022. The issue can better be described in both NHTSA Complaints 11339440 and 11343191. The brake master cylinder was replaced. It worked until May 2023 and I am now having the same issue. There is almost no brake pressure. The problem has yet to be resolved. This is a very serious safety risk for both the passengers of this vehicle and others on the road. It is almost impossible to come to a full stop within a few seconds.
