TAKATA RECALL
10/13/2018 - AT 28,500 MILES. NOTICED JUST YESTERDAY WHEN OPENING PANORAMIC SUNROOF CURTAIN IN DRIVEWAY, WHAT LOOKED LIKE A LARGE PUDDLE OF WATER ON SUNROOF WHILE PARKED. WAS NOT THERE THE DAY BEFORE. CHECKED IT AND SURE ENOUGH, IT IS A LARGE CRACK ACROSS THE SUNROOF. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED TO FIND. WILL BE CONTACTING LOCAL AUTONATION DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS REPAIR. IT HAD BETTER BE UNDER WARRANTY. I'VE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR SIX MONTHS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
ON A HIGHWAY DRIVING 65 MPH AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF. DASHBOARD WAS DARK YET FLASHED 'TRANS NOT IN PARK'... ASSUMING I HIT THE START BUTTON BY ACCIDENT WHILE ADJUSTING MY VENT. I HAD TO CRUISE TO A COMPLETE STOP (ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER DURING RUSH HOUR) SINCE BRAKES DIDN'T EVEN WORK AND RESTARTED VEHICLE ONCE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND I COULD HIT THE BREAK. I TESTED IT LATER ON THAT DAY AND WHILE DRIVING IN A SAFE PARKING LOT, I HIT THE START BUTTON AS I WAS DRIVING 20 MPH AND IT INDEED SHUT OFF. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS GLITCH WHERE THE START BUTTON DOES NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE AS IT SHOULD. MY EDGE HAD 5000 MILES ON IT AND I REPORTED IT TO MY FORD SALES PERSON- HE HAS YET TO GET BACK TO ME. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FORD THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED.
CENTER LED LIGHT PANEL ON EXTERIOR LIFT GATE DEVELOPED CONDENSATION INSIDE WHICH HAS ACCUMULATED TO VISIBLE POOLS ON EACH SIDE OF THE LIGHT STRIP. WORRIED COULD CAUSE IT TO SHORT OUT WHICH COULD PUT VEHICLE AT RISK OR BEING STRUCK OR REAR ENDED WHEN BRAKING OR WHEN STOPPED DUE TO LACK OF VISIBILITY.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact stated that the check engine and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that he continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
WHEN DONE FUELING, GAS PUMP NOZZLE WON'T COME OUT OF THE NEW EASY FILL FILLER PIPE AT TIMES. IT TAKES A LOT OF TWISTING AND TURNING TO GET THE NOZZLE OUT.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW WITH 10 MILES DRIVEN ONLY 14 MONTHS AGO. AT 3100 MILES IT LOST ALL ELECTRIC/ELECTRONIC/ENGINE POWER AS I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES ON A CITY STREET WITH TRAFFIC! THE ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE WRENCH LIGHT AND DINGING SOUNDS FLASHED; THE VEHICLE DECREASED IN SPEED, AND SHUT DOWN, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE STREET INTO AN OPEN DRIVEWAY PRIOR TO ITS COMPLETE STOP OF THE VEHICLE FROM LOSS OF ALL POWER! THEN THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER; IGNITION WOULD NOT START; NO LIGHTS, NO POWER OF ANY KIND. AFTER CALLING FORD SERVICE HOTLINE, AND ABOUT 2.5 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK IN THE HOT HEAT, I TRIED THE IGNITION - THE POWER WAS BACK. NEVERTHELESS, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. THE NEXT DAY THEIR DIAGNOSTICS AND TWO TEST DRIVES 'FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE'. I INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT WYATT JOHNSON FORD, JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM, DOESN'T NEGATE THE FACT THAT SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE TO STOP ABRUPTLY AS IT DID; LIKE A COMPUTER SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH DIRE CONSEQUENCES AND WANT TO REPORT THIS HAZARDOUS PROBLEM TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY! THERE ARE NO PICTURES TO ACCOMPANY THIS COMPLAINT. I AWAIT SOME INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO SHARED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH FORD, NISSAN AND OTHER VEHICLES. "TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE A SLIT ON MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG.I JUST NOTICED IT ONE DAY GETTING IN MY CAR.I TOOK IT TO OXMOOR FORD SEVERAL TIMES,THEY TOOK PICTURES AND FINALLY CALLED ME BACK AFTER SEVERAL TIMES BEING THERE AND SAID THEY WERE NOT GOING TO FIX IT.

I WAS DRIVING AND I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES TO TURN THE CORNER, AND THEY MADE AN AIR RELEASING NOISE AND DID NOT SLOW ME DOWN, THEY WENT COMPLETELY OUT! I HAVE BRAND NEW BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. THANK GOD THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE STREET!
UPON RETURNING FROM AN 8 DAY ABSENCE, I WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WAS TOTALLY DEAD. TRIED TO JUMP IT AND WHILE INTERNAL ACCESSORY LIGHTS CAME ON IT WOULD NOT START. CALLED FORD AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK, WHO JUMPED IT WITH A HAND HELD LITHIUM BATTERY AND IT STARTED. HAD THE TOW TRUCK FOLLOW ME TO THE DEALER, WHERE WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR OPEN, THE ENTIRE CAR WENT DEAD AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS GOING TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BUT IT WOULD NOT FAIL ACCORDING TO THE NEW FORD BATTERY FAILURE CRITERIA AND I SUGGESTED SIMPLY PLACING IT BACK IN THE CAR AND I WOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT LOCALLY. THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, AS I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I GET INTO THE CAR, I READJUST MYSELF BY PLACING MY LEFT ARM ON THE ARM REST, DOOR AND MY RIGHT HAND ON THE CENTER CONSOLE AND CENTER MYSELF TO THE STEERING WHEEL. IN THAT PROCESS I HEAR THE DOOR LOCKS GO OFF, FROM PUSHING DOWN ON THE ARM REST, DOOR. MY TURN SIGNAL ALSO LOSES THE CLICKING SOUND FROM TIME TO TIME AND NOW I NOTICE THE TURN SIGNALS LIGHT UP WHEN I PLACE MY HAND IN THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR. I ENJOY DRIVING THE CAR AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH MY DEALER TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. MY CONCERN IS BEING OUT OF TOWN OR LEAVING IT AT THE AIR PORT AND HAVING TO DEALING WITH A DEAD CAR. IT ACTED AS IF THE ENTIRE BATTERY HAD BEEN DISCHARGED, SIMPLY SITTING IN THE GARAGE.
PANORAMIC SUN ROOF CRACKED SUDDENLY WHEN A DOOR WAS CLOSED. CAR WAS STATIONARY AND DOOR WINDOWS WERE UP.
THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS STALLED OVER A COUPLE OF DOZEN TIMES SINCE PURCHASING BRAND NEW A YEAR AGO. IT USUALLY STALLS A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER STARTING. TWO TIMES IT HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS CAN POTENTIALLY BE VERY DANGEROUS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR A COMBINED FOUR TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY CLAIM TO NOT BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE SO NOTHING CAN BE FIXED. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED 8 OR 9 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK ALONE.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND OFF. WE LOADED ALL LUGGAGE INTO THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOORS. BOTH KEYS WERE IN THE DIAPER BAG. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ENGAGED AND WE HAD NO WAY TO GET INTO OUR CAR OR CALL FOR HELP, AS OUR PHONES WERE IN THE CAR. THIS TYPE OF DOOR LOCK DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO PUSH THE FOB BUTTON. YOU JUST HAVE TO TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE WHILE KEYS ARE IN YOUR POSSESSION. BUT THE CAR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO LOCK IF THE KEY IS WITHIN THE VEHICLE. WE HAD TO CALL AAA TO GET THE DOOR UNLOCKED. FORTUNATELY OUR INFANT AND DOGS HAD NOT BEEN LOADED YET. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE LOCKS HAVE ENGAGED IN THEIR OWN WHILE THE KEY IS IN THE CAR. ALSO OF NOTE; THE DOORS DISPLAY A SMALL RED LED WHEN LOCKED NORMALLY. THE RED LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE/MALFUNCTION.

THE DEALER (ROBERTS MOTORS, 4350 N ALBY ST, ALTON IL) WAS CONTACTED, BUT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CASE NUMBER: 14565487 WAS OPENED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS FOR THE INVESTIGATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000.

I LEASED THIS 2017 FORD EDGE IN DECEMBER OF 2017. UPON DRIVING IT AT NIGHT I NOTICED A VERY DIM LIGHT ON LOW BEAM SHOWING THE ROAD. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME BUT THEN I HAD MY HUSBAND DRIVE HE ALSO EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY IN SEEING THE ROAD WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ON LOW BEAM. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY VERIFIED THAT THE CAR HAS VERY LOW VISIBILITY ON THE LOW BEAMS. THEREFORE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I CONTACTED THE FORD MOTOR CO AND THEY TOLD ME THAT CAR WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THAT IS MY ISSUE. I DRIVE A LOT AT NIGHT AND THIS IS VERY MUCH A SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE OWNED 6 FORD PRODUCTS IN THE PAST AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF LIGHTING. I ALSO HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH THRU THE INTERNET AND HAVE NOTICED MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FORD EDGE LOW BEAM POOR PERFORMANCE. I BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I REALLY HATED TO BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION BUT I FEEL THERE IS A RISK TO FORD EDGE OWNERS. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT MAYBE I SHOULD LOOK INTO AFTERMARKET HEADLIGHTS BUT THAT SOUNDED ODD TO ME AS I HAVE PAID $ 40,000 FOR A CAR WITH POOR LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. FORD SAID THAT THE CAR IS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. I DISAGREE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
SUNROOF HAS CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. NOTHING HAS COME IN CONTACT NOR HAS ANYTHING HIT IT DIRECTLY. NOT SURE OF WHEN THE CRACKS OCCURED.
AFTER COMPLETING A TURN AND ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON ITS BRAKES AND CUT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD SLAM VIOLENTLY ON THE BRAKES AGAIN. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING, ALL DRIVER ASSISTANCE WARNING ICONS WERE INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ENGAGED PARK, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED AND IT WAS WORKING FINE. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT AND THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION THAT CAUSED IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DISCONCERTING, AND IN MY OPINION EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THANKFULLY IN EITHER INCIDENT MY TODDLER SON WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while accelerating, exhaust fumes were entering the cabin of the vehicle through the A/C vents. The contact stated that it was difficult to breathe inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the windows would be rolled down for better breathing while in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the truck led gasket and other unknown parts. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 400.
PURCHASED THIS 2017 FORD EDGE TITANIUM AWD AS A DEMO FROM TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY. VEHICLE HAD 5800 MILES. THE VEHICLE STAYS GARAGED AT MY HOME ADDRESS. I WAS PULLING THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS NOTHING AT ALL NEAR THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED INTO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED WHAT LOOKED LIKE A PUDDLE OF WATER ON THE REAR PART OF THE SUNROOF. I GOT OUT OF THE EDGE TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK THROUGH THE REAR STATIONARY PART OF THE SUNROOF.
TAKATA RECALL CAR WAS PURCHASED USED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. I'VE VISITED 2 DIFFERENT FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENTS FOR A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES. THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TK HOLDINGS INC. ABOUT TAKATA'S CLAIM FOR BANKRUPTCY. I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR. FORD HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACQUIRE PARTS. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE NOTICE FROM TK HOLDINGS CITE THAT, "YOU (OR, IN THE CASE OF A WRONGFUL-DEATH CLAIM, YOU REPRESENT) MAY HAVE CLAIMS AGAINST THE DEBTORS, INCLUDING FOR MONETARY LOSS, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH (IN EACH CASE PAST OR FUTURE) ON ACCOUNT OF YOUR CURRENT OR PAST OWNERSHIP OF A VEHICLE CONTANING A PSAN INFLATOR REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH PSAN INFLATOR IS SUBJECT TO A RECALL OR HAS ALL READY BEEN REPAIRED OR YOU HAVE THUS FAR SUFFERED NO LOSS, INJURY OR DEATH ON ACCOUNT OF YOUR PSAN INFLATOR..." IN MY CASE, I AM EXPOSED TO FUTURE INJURY AND AM THEREBY ASSERTING MY CLAIM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL EVIDENCE OF A FUEL LEAK. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT STARTING THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT AND, AT TIMES, COULD TAKE 10-15 SECONDS TO START. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL RAIL IN THE ENGINE OR THE FUEL PUMP IN THE VEHICLE WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE FUEL ODOR. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE THE LOCAL DEALER TO DROP THE FUEL TANK TO INSPECT THE FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PAT MILLIKEN FORD (9600 TELEGRAPH RD, REDFORD CHARTER TWP, MI 48239, (313) 731-6436) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. RAW FUEL ODOR WHEN DRIVING AND STOPPING THE CAR. FUEL LEAK, STARTING PROBLEMS AND FUEL PUMP ISSUE. CAR WAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED UPON REQUEST, PAT MILLIKEN FORD REFUSED TO WORK ON CAR EVEN THOUGH WE WERE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER OF A CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM. PAT MILLIKEN FORD WAS NOT AUTHORIZED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO REMOVE FUEL TANK AND FIX FUEL PUMP UNTIL THEY PROVED THERE WAS A PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH WE TOOK 25 VIDEOS OVER A 3 MONTH PERIOD AS EVIDENCE. FOR 3 MONTHS OF PAYMENTS, INSURANCE AND FEAR OF THE RISK OF FIRE WHILE DRIVING, FORD MOTOR AND PAT MILLIKEN REFUSED TO REPAIR THE CAR AFTER MORE THAN 5 VISITS, NUMEROUS CONVERSATIONS WITH FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PAT MILLIKEN FORD. THE SMELL OF RAW GAS, AND THE LONG GRIND DELAYED START EXISTED WHEN CAR WAS IDLE AFTER TRAVELING LOCAL STREETS AND HIGHWAYS..
MY AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ARE FLICKERING GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE HAS THE KEY FAUB PRESSING ON IT OR ANYTHING.
THE FRONT SUNROOF CRACKED FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK OF THE GLASS. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY SIX WEEKS OLD AND HAD BEEN DRIVEN ONLY 2,900 MILES. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN A LOT BUT THAT THE $1,300 REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY CONFIRMED THE NEXT DAY THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS DEFECT.

CAR BUCKED AND WAS STALLING WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START,EVENTUALLY IT STARTED WAS TO BRING THE CAR TO FORD, CAR TOOK ABOUT 10 TRIES TO START THEN STALLED. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD, STARTED THERE AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE (TOW DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO START VEHICLE). I HAVE ABOUT 4 VIDEOS OF THE ISSUE WHEN IT WOULD NOT START, ALSO HAVE PICTURES. DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 10 DAYS, THEY SAID THEY HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE DOING THE SAME THING. (THIS IS AFTER REPORTING ONE ISSUE WHERE THE CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 35 MPH DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, SENT ME HOME WITH THE VEHICLE.)
I OPENED THE ELECTRIC LIFTGATE AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PLACING A WHEELCHAIR INTO THE BACK COMPARTMENT WHEN THE HATCH DECIDED TO CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY. THE LIFTGATE STRUCK ME ON THE HEAD AND CONTINUED TO PUSH ME DOWN. I HAD TO PUSH ON THE LIFTGATE AS HARD AS I COULD TO GET IT TO REVERSE. IF A YOUNG CHILD HAD BEEN HIT IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURIES. WE CALLED 2 FORD DEALERS WHO OFFERED TO GIVE US AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE WITH A 2 WEEK WAIT. (BOY, DO THEY CARE). I ENDED UP WITH A MILD CONCUSSION......NAUSEA AND MILD LIGHTHEADEDNESS. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO STOP THIS LIFTGATE FROM HURTING PEOPLE....
THE REAR LIFT GATE LATCH ON OUR VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. THERE IS NO METHOD OF UNLOCKING / UNLATCHING THE LIFT GATE IF THE DRIVER IS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. OUR OWNER'S MANUAL CHAPTER ON MANUALLY OPERATED LIFT GATE OPERATION, PAGE 68, STATES THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE EQUIPPED WITH TWO METHODS OF UNLATCHING. THE FIRST, A BUTTON 'LOCATED IN THE TOP OF THE LIFT GATE PULL CUP HANDLE ' AND THE SECOND A BUTTON ON THE REMOTE CONTROL KEY FOB THAT WILL UNLATCH THE GATE BY 'PRESSING THE (2X) BUTTON TWICE WITHIN THREE SECONDS '. OUR VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED NEW WITH A KEY FOB THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE 2X BUTTON. THE RESULT IS THAT THE LIFT GATE CAN ONLY BE UNLATCHED FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN AN EMERGENCY OR IF SOMEONE WERE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE, THERE IS NO LIFT GATE RELEASE BUTTON INSIDE THE CAR OR ON THE REMOTE AS STATED IN THE MANUAL.
THE SUN VISOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FELL OUT OF THE HEADLINER ON THE MOUNTING SIDE THE FIRST TIME WE PUT IT DOWN--IT HUNG DOWN ABOUT TWO INCHES. TODAY UNDER RAPID ACCELERATION THE OTHER SIDE CAME OUT OF IT;S CLIP FASTENER AND THE WHOLE UNIT FELL DOWN ABOUT TEN INCHES IN FRONT OF MY WIFE FACE. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED AS THERE ARE DIRTY SMUDGES ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VISOR. THERE WAS ALSO AN EDGE--2017--ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR THAT HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR HANGING DOWN A COUPLE OF INCHES DUE TO A FAULTY FASTENER.. WE SAW A TOTAL OF THREE EDGE'S INCLUDING THE ONE WE PURCHASED AND THREE OF THE SIX VISORS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. IFS A DRIVERS SIDE VISOR CAME DOWN THE WAY OUR PASSENGER SIDE VISOR DID TODAY THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE OF IT CREATING AN ACCIDENT. I AM FINALLY HAVING MINE REPAIRED TOMORROW AFTER WAITING TWO WEEKS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH TWO SERVICE DEPARTMENTS WHO CHECKED SERVICE BULLETINS AND THEY SAID THERE HAD BEEN NO REPORTED ISSUES BUT OBVIOUSLY THERE IS. ALSO SPOKE WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOT THE SAME STORY. I HAVE PICTURES BUT DUE TO BEING INCOMPETENT WITH USING A COMPUTER AND IPHONE I CANNOT GET THE PICTURES TO THIS DOCUMENT. ON AUGUST 16, 2017 I RENTED A 2017 FORD EDGE FROM ALAMO AT THE SAVANNAH, GA AIRPORT. ON AUGUST 18, 2017 WHILE EN ROUTE FROM SAVANNAH TO CHARLESTON, SC I WAS STOPPED BY A POLICE OFFICER ON HIGHWAY 17 NEAR YAMASSEE, SC. WHILE ON THE SHOULDER WITH THE CAR RUNNING BUT STATIONARY, SMOKE BEGAN COMING OUT OF THE CAR. MYSELF AND MY FAMILY EVACUATED AND WITHIN 5-10 MINUTES THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE POLICEMAN RADIOED FOR A FIRE TRUCK BUT BY THE TIME THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT, THE ENTIRE CAR AND ALL OF ITS CONTENTS WAS DESTROYED.

THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER ABOUT A WEEK. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE BUT NOT DETERMINE CAUSE. THEY DID CONTACT FORD HOTLINE FOR ASSIST. THEY PUT ON MY INVOICE BAD PIN FITMENTS. THEY WERE NOT SURE IT WAS FIXED AND TURNED IT OVER TO ME. SATURDAY 10/21/17 DRIVING 55MPH ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN EDGE CAME TO UNEXPECTED HALT CAUSING ME AND MY PASSENGER TO LURCH FORWARD BEING HELD BY SEAT BELTS. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH SHOWED ONE FAULT CODE AFTER ANOTHER. ORANGE WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP. I COASTED OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO A DRIVEWAY. AFTER RESTARTED VEHICLE AND IT HAD NONE OF WARNINGS. DROVE OKAY. MONDAY CALLED DEALER SERVICE WHO GOT ME IN TUESDAY. SERVICE STATED THEY HAD COLD CODES BUT NO HARD FAULTS/CODES SO THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DRIVEN TO GET IT TO ACT UP AGAIN. I WAS NOT TO RESTART THE ENGINE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED. I WAS VERY UNHAPPY TAKING A VEHICLE THAT COULD STOP ANYWHERE AT ANY TIME. CALLED DEALER SERVICE SO COULD GET TRY TO GET HARD CODES BUT THEY TECHNICIAN JUST SAID TO JUST START IT, SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE. 11/2/17 REVERSING DOWN DRIVEWAY WHEN EDGE STOPPED AND DASH WENT CRAZY. ONE FAULT CODE AFTER ANOTHER CAME UP ON LEFT SIDE OF DASH. ENGINE START BUTTON FLASHING AND LOTS OF ORANGE WARNING LIGHTS ON. VIDEOED DASH. EDGE TOWED FOR SAFETY PER DEALER. SERVICE HAD EDGE 6 DAYS FINDING SOME COMMUNICATION ISSUES WITH/TO POWER TRAIN BUT NO DEFINITE CAUSE. THEY CONTACTED FORD WHO SAID PUT IN NEW POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. EDGE RETURNED TO ME HOPING THIS WAS NEEDED REPAIR.

THE DEALER CONDUCTED A SMOKE TEST AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST SPOILER OVER THE REAR HATCH SEALS FAILED. WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON RECIRCULATION MODE, THE VEHICLE RE-ABSORBED THE EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE CABIN. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE SPOILER, AND SEALS, AND ASKED THE CONTACT TO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE REMEDY FAILED. DUE TO TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES PER THE DEALER, THE CONTACT HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL TO RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE HOSPITAL STATED THAT THE CONTACT RECEIVED CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING ACCORDING TO A BLOOD TEST. THE RESULTS WERE NOT SEVERE, BUT THE PHYSICIAN RECOMMENDED TO AVOID THE VEHICLE, BREATHE FRESH AIR, AND GET PLENTY OF REST. THE DEALER STILL HAD THE VEHICLE AND, THIRTY DAYS LATER, A REMEDY STILL COULD NOT BE PROVIDED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE THE SAME DAY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 12525112. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE FEWER THAN THREE ATTEMPTS WITHIN THIRTY DAYS. THE CONTACT ASKED FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE BOUGHT BACK UNDER THE LEMON LAW. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
