The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed, causing metal shavings to enter the engine. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was unavailable.

I HAD TO WAIT TO RESTART AND THEN GIVE IT GAS AND BRAKE AT SAME TIME TO GET CAR MOVING. ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. TOOK VEHICLE TO O'REILLY AUTO PARTS STORE [XXX] FOR DIAGNOSTIC SCAN OF PROBLEM. CODE WAS P1450 UNABLE TO BLEED UP FUEL TANK VACUUM REPAIR CANISTER PURGE VALVE/SOLENOID. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP ON [XXX] WITH INFORMATION ON CODE. FORD CONFIRMED REPAIR WAS REQUIRED. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND NOTICED FORD HAS RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND ASKED IF MY VEHICLE WAS COVERED. FORD SAID "UNFORTUNATELY YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED", SO I HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIR. NO CHOICE AS THIS PROBLEM IS A DRIVING SAFETY ISSUE. IT APPEARS FROM njtsa.GOV AND OTHER WEBSITES THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. Bad purge valve, car wouldn't start. Code P1450
Have check engine light on . Saying bad purge solenoid. Replaced it. Light still came on. When I get fuel the suv bucks and stalls for a bit. Checked with a buddy at Ford motor company. Stated they know of the problem with it. But don't have a solution. Being an a.s.e. tech myself. And reading up on this. I see ford did recall the focus for this same issue. Why have they not recalled others vehicles like mine. This could be a VERY BAD SAFETY HAZARD. when a person is filling there car the extra fuel is now going into the fuel evap system, backwards. So it's filling up as system that is meant only for fumes. If something in this system shorts out or have a internal engine back fire from this extra fuel. It could potentially cause a explosion in the fuel system and with a full tank of fuel that would not have a happy ending. The nhtsa Must get on ford to fix this problem asap.
Fuel filler neck housing leaking causing an EVAP control system issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in the garage, there was a strong fuel odor that came from the vehicle. The vehicle service parking brake immediately warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.
2017 Ford Edge - we were driving along at approximately 50 mph when all of a sudden the vehicle lost power and it slowed down very fast. The car in back of us almost hit us! We limped along until we could shut the car off. It cleared up temporarily but happened twice on way to local mechanic. His engine analyzer did not show anything and the car ran fine for a couple of weeks so I thought maybe there had been some bad gasoline. Then it happened again several times. It was this second series of incidents when we almost had a crash. In driving 10 miles to return to the local mechanic it decelerated 5 times and stalled each time. Now both the check engine light and the wrench warning lights come on. The mechanic's engine analyzer now shows the throttle body is defective. Since he does not have the part in stock we are still waiting to have it repaired. A Ford service dealer has not yet looked at the car. I may now take it to a Ford dealer but getting there is risky.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER 63,000 MILES OF MY 2017 FORD EDGE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD PER ERROR CODE. DEALERSHIP STATED A NEW ENGINE IS REQUIRED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT IS TIME FOR FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS VEHICLE OR ENGINE HAS A QUALITY ISSUE AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.

WILL STUDDER AT STOPS AS IT IS LACKING CORRECT FUEL PRESSURE, BUT WONT THROW CODE. MILEAGE DOES NOT MEET THE FUEL ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT RANGE STATED ON THE WINDOW STICKER AND VEHICLE DESCRIPTION WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. MY CAR IS A 2017 FORD EDGE SEL AWD WITH THE TWIN-SCRL 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE WINDOW STICKER STATES MPG TO BE 20 IN THE CITY AND 27 ON THE HIGHWAY AND 23 COMBINED CITY/HWY. CURRENTLY THE MPG SHOWN IN THE DASHBOARD IS 15 TO 16 COMBINED CITY/HWY WHICH SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT FROM THE DAY I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO A FORD CAR DEALER REPRESENTATIVE AND THE RESPONSE IS THAT I HAVE AN AWD RATHER THAN FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. I ALSO HAVE A 2015 FORD EDGE WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND THE MPG FALLS WITHIN AND OFTEN EXCEEDS THE MPG STATED ON THE WINDOW STICKER. WHETHER OR NOT THE AWD GETS LESS MPG THAT A FWD GETS IS NOT MY COMPLAINT. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE ACTUAL MPG FOR MY AWD FORD EDGE SHOULD BE WITHIN THE RANGE OF WHAT THE WINDOW STICKER REPRESENTS, I.E. 20 CITY, 27 HIGHWAY, AND 23 OVERALL. I HAVE ACCUMULATED APPROXIMATELY 13,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE SO FAR WITH NO IMPROVEMENT IN MPG. I'M RETIRED AND DRIVE CONSERVATIVELY COASTING TO A STOP AS OFTEN AS I CAN AND ACCELERATING IN A VERY MODEST MANNER. WHEN DONE FUELING, GAS PUMP NOZZLE WON'T COME OUT OF THE NEW EASY FILL FILLER PIPE AT TIMES. IT TAKES A LOT OF TWISTING AND TURNING TO GET THE NOZZLE OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL EVIDENCE OF A FUEL LEAK. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT STARTING THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT AND, AT TIMES, COULD TAKE 10-15 SECONDS TO START. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL RAIL IN THE ENGINE OR THE FUEL PUMP IN THE VEHICLE WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE FUEL ODOR. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE THE LOCAL DEALER TO DROP THE FUEL TANK TO INSPECT THE FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PAT MILLIKEN FORD (9600 TELEGRAPH RD, REDFORD CHARTER TWP, MI 48239, (313) 731-6436) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. RAW FUEL ODOR WHEN DRIVING AND STOPPING THE CAR. FUEL LEAK, STARTING PROBLEMS AND FUEL PUMP ISSUE. CAR WAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED UPON REQUEST, PAT MILLIKEN FORD REFUSED TO WORK ON CAR EVEN THOUGH WE WERE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER OF A CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM. PAT MILLIKEN FORD WAS NOT AUTHORIZED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO REMOVE FUEL TANK AND FIX FUEL PUMP UNTIL THEY PROVED THERE WAS A PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH WE TOOK 25 VIDEOS OVER A 3 MONTH PERIOD AS EVIDENCE. FOR 3 MONTHS OF PAYMENTS, INSURANCE AND FEAR OF THE RISK OF FIRE WHILE DRIVING, FORD MOTOR AND PAT MILLIKEN REFUSED TO REPAIR THE CAR AFTER MORE THAN 5 VISITS, NUMEROUS CONVERSATIONS WITH FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PAT MILLIKEN FORD. THE SMELL OF RAW GAS, AND THE LONG GRIND DELAYED START EXISTED WHEN CAR WAS IDLE AFTER TRAVELING LOCAL STREETS AND HIGHWAYS..
AFTER REFUELING AT A BP SERVICE STATION, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE FUEL NOZZLE FROM THE FUEL FILLER DOOR. I DIDN'T WANT TO FORCE THE REMOVAL OF THE NOZZLE SO I CALLED FORD ROAD SIDE ASSIST. AFTER TRYING THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS THEY SUGGESTED HAVING THE CAR TOWED. I EXPLAINED THE CAR CANNOT BE TOWED BECAUSE THE NOZZLE WAS STUCK IN THE DOOR. THEY SUGGESTED I CALL THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE AS WELL AND HAD NO FIX. THE BP ATTENDANT HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE AND SUGGESTED I TAKE THE EDGE OF A SCISSOR WHICH SHE SUPPLIED AND WEDGE IT BETWEEN THE NOZZLE AND DOOR. IT WORKED. THE NOZZLE RELEASED FROM THE DOOR. THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST FILL UP AS MY CAR HAS ONLY 344 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. *TR
