FRAME NEAR SHOCK ABSORBER RUSTING THROUGH. NEW CHOCK CAN'T BE REPLACED WITHOUT FRAME WORK
MY REAR WINDOW EXPLODED WHILE PARKED. MY CAR WAS BACKED IN AND THERE WAS NO ONE OR WAY TO GET BEHIND ME.
THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 13,000 MILES ON IT AND THE POWER ASSIST TO THE STEERING HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE IS IN LIKE NEW CONDITION. THIS IS CLEARLY NO SIGN OF NEGLECT ON SUCH A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE.
2014. BRAKE FAIL. FIX. FOR. $1500. MOVING. TO. CALIFORNIA. NOW 2018. 12-5-2018. POWER STEERING. NEEDS. SERVICES. AND. ALSO. EMISSIONS. HAVE PROBLEMS TOO. ?
VEHICLE DISPLAYED "SERVICE EMISSIONS SYSTEM" WARNING IMMEDIATELY AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF ALL EMISSIONS PARTS, VEHICLE STILL INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYS THIS WARNING AND OCCASIONAL "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGES CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE ALSO DISPLAYS "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" WARNINGS DAILY DESPITE HAVING ENTIRE BREAKING SYSTEM REPLACED CAUSING FAILURE OF ABS BREAKING SYSTEM RESULTING IN BRAKE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND TAKING A MUCH LONGER DISTANCE TO STOP WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. VEHICLE DISPLAYS "PASSENGER DOOR AJAR" WARNINGS ALTHOUGH DOOR IS SHUT. THIS RESULTS IN ALARM AND LIGHTS FLASHING CONSTANTLY RESULTING IN SEVERAL DRAINED BATTERIES SO VEHICLE DOES NOT START. TRANSFER CASE OR "POWER TAKE OFF UNIT" FAILED AT 125K MILES RESULTING IN NON-DRIVABLE CONDITION.
SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE, VERY DANGEROUS 'STOP SAFELY NOW' IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, MANAGED TO PULL THROUGH IT ALL AND NOT DIE. IT WAS COLD AND RAINY OUTSIDE WHILE WE WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK ON A NARROW ROADSIDE. BROUGHT TO NEAR BY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY 'THOUGHT' IT MIGHT BE THE DC TO DC CONVERTER BUT WERE NOT SURE ABOUT IT, SO RATHER THAN DROPPING $3 GRAND ON A 'MAYBE' I GOT IT TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE. WHERE IT NOW SITS AND WON'T START STILL HAS THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. I FEEL LIKE IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING SMALL, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID THEY CHANGED THE DC TO DC CONVERTER AND ITS USUALLY NOT THE PROBLEM.
WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND POWER STEERING LOCKED UP IN MIDDLE OF THE STREET , WITH CARS COMING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS NEARLY GOT HIT .... HAD TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO STEER CAR TO SIDE OF STREET..... POWER STEERING MODULE WENT BAD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXCITER RING WAS FRACTURED. THE MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO GLUE THE PIECE BACK TOGETHER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT THE LIFTGATE ACTUATOR AND LIFTGATE MECHANISM DID NOT WORK (NOT EVEN MANUALLY). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO DETERMINED THAT WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE LIFTGATE WINDOW SEAL. THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
BRAKE SYSTEM QUIT WORKING ON MY FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. IT IS A KNOWN BROBLEM. DEALER WANTS 7000.00 TO FIX IT. HYDRAULIC PUMPS BURN OUT IN THEM. YOU LOOSE THE COMPLETE BRAKING SYSTEM IN THE CAR.
BRAKE FAILURE. PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN, APPLIED BRAKES, VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING. BRAKES RELEASED AND I HAD TO SLAM MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AM TOLD THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
FAILURE OF ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. POOR BRAKING PERFORMANCE. PROPOSED REPAIR IS TO REPLACE HYDRAULIC ABS UNIT AT A COST OF $5400. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 104,000 MILES AND COULD BE DRIVEABLE IF REPAIRED. I SEE FROM THE NHTSA WEBSITE THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING ON A MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY JUST SOUTH OF GRANBY COLORADO WHEN ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND ENGINE STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. TRIED TO RESTART ENGINE TO NO AVAIL. THEN STEAM STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD, THERE WERE YELLOW SPOTS ALL OVER AND THE COOLANT CONTAINER HAD STARTED TO MELT AND DEFORM FROM THE HEAT. I CALLED MY AAA ROAD SERVICE AND WAS TOWED INTO GRANBY TO MOUNTAIN VALLEY AUTO AND TRUCK REPAIR. HE TOOK PICTURES OF THE READINGS FROM THE COMPUTER AND HAS THOSE. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN AN ENGINE GET SO HOT BEFORE AND NO WARNING. MY SON HAS A MECHANIC FRIEND WHO CALLED SOMEONE AT FORD AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE THAT THE FORD ESCAPE HAD AN ISSUE WITH OVERHEATING JUST AS MY VEHICLE DID WITH NO WARNING WHILE IN MOUNTAIN DRIVING. AFTER THE EVENT, MY SON CALLED THE FORD DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD HIM THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. WE HAD TO SELL THE CAR FOR JUNK. 2007 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE FAILURE, OVERHEATED THEN BLEW OUT. *AS *JS *TR
ON 7/10/18, WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT TO ENTER A HIGHWAY, CAR STALLED/LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. TWO MONTHS EARLIER IN MAY 2018, THE CAR ISSUED A "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING WHILE MOVING AT 65MPH. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN TIME BEFORE LOSING POWER. BOTH INSTANCES RESULTED IN RESTARTING THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES AFTER A PERIOD OF REST. MECHANIC ON BOTH OCCASIONS COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. WATER PUMP (RECALL) WAS ALREADY REPAIRED SEVERAL YEARS AGO IN 2012 AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH STALLING UNTIL 2018.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. UPON INSPECTING UNDER THE HOOD, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WAS EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH. MAC HAIK'S SOUTHWAY FORD (7979 INTERSTATE 35 ACCESS RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78224, (210) 922-2222) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE CONTACT DECLINED DUE TO THE COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,216.
BRAKE FAILED THE REGEN SYSTEM FAILURE AND ABS BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED AN ALMOST SERIOUS ACCIDENT $7000 FOR REPAIRS FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS FROM 1000S OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IT IS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE 2 WHEEL DRIVE HYBRID
THE BRAKES FAILED AT A STOP SIGN AND SENT MY DAUGHTER INTO TRAFFIC THAT WAS GOING 50 MPH. FORTUNATELY SHE PUT IT IN REVERSE AND GOT OUT BEFORE AN ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND MECHANIC SAYS IT WILL COST OVER $4000 TO FIX. AFTER RESEARCH WE SEE THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM. HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IS FAULTY AND A BAD DESIGN THAT RECURS.
2007 FORD ESCAPE - AT 42,644 MILES THE CAR WOULD SLOW DOWN AND NOT PICK UP SPEED, I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE REGULATOR VALVE..... AT 47,819 MILES THE CAR DID THE SAME THING , THIS TIME THE OD LIGHT CAME ON, HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND AGAIN HAD IT TOWED TO THE SAME FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER , SEAL & PUMP , THEY CALL ME TO PICK UP THE CAR, WHEN I GOT THERE IT WOULD NOT MOVE IN REVERSE, THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION.... AT 52,338 MILES THE CAR AGAIN DID THE SAME THING WITH THE FORWARD GEARS AND AGAIN THE OD LIGHT WAS BLINKING, AGAIN TOWED IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER - STICKING G VALE WHICH THEY REPLACED..... AT 53,175 MILES I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT WHEN I PUT IT INTO REVERSE IT WOULD MAKE A BANG AND WHEN MOVING WOULD SHAKE,, THEY TOLD ME THAT AWD FORDS DO THAT AND THAT I JUST NEVER NOTICED BEFORE.... AT 91,678 MILE REVERSE WENT OUT AND AGAIN THE FORWARD GEARS SHIFTS WHEN EVER.... THEY NOW TELL ME THAT THE WARRANTY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
WHEN I'M DRIVING MY VEHICLE & MAKING LEFT TURNS IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE. TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION JUST FELL OUT. I'M ENCLOSING SOME DOCUMENTS OF RECALLS THAT I'VE FOUND. MY TRUCK IS ALSO RUSTING OUT SO BAD THAT WHEN I PUT MY GRANDSON IN HIS CAR SEAT, THE LEGS OF MY PANTS GET CAUGHT ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE ON A SOMEWHAT BUMPY COUNTRY ROAD THERE WAS SUDDENLY A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR. UPON INSPECTION I OBSERVED THE ENTIRE UPPER SHOCK MOUNT IN THE RIGHT REAR HAD BROKEN FREE FROM THE BODY DUE TO RUST, CAUSING THE SHOCK TO RIDE FREELY INTO THE INTERIOR COMPARTMENT HITTING THE PLASTIC PANEL. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE VEHICLE HAS 164K MILES.
I HAVE A 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID WITH 92518 MILES ON IT. THE BREAK LIGHTS COME ON AND THEN IT HAS LITTLE BREAKS.IT DOES THIS INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE HCU WAS BAD AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST ME $6000 - $7000 TO HAVE IT FIXED.I PUT A USED HCU ON IT AND THEY SAID THAT ONE WAS ALSO BAD. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS OVER THE YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD TO PUT AN HCU ON BEFORE.I GOT ON LINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. SO HOW COME THERE IS NO RECALL SINCE THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE BREAKS..IF THIS WAS A TOYOTA THIS WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED..I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VECHIAL AGAIN..I WORK AT A VERY BIG SHOP IN TOWN AND ANYONE WHO ASKES WHAT KIND OF CAR TO BUY I WILL TELL THEM TO BUY A TOYOTA AND NOT A FORD. CAUSE APPARENTLY FORD DOESN'T CARE ABOUT SAFETY. P.S. HOW COME I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BREAKS BLEED.
WHEEL BEARING MAKING NOISE FROM BOTH SIDES
THE ABS LIGHT GOES ON AND I HAVE MINIMUM BRAKES. WHEN ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT GOES ON I HAVE ALMOST NO BRAKES AND I END UP SKIDDING WHEN STOPPING. I HAVE HAVE MULTIPLE NEAR MISSES AND BURNED RUBBER TRYING TO STOP. THESE LIGHTS ARE SPORADIC BUT THEY COME ON AT LEAST 90% OF THE TIME. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE OFF, THE BRAKES ARE FINE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO BECAUSE MY BRAKES ARE FINE WHEN THEY CHECK IT. THEY ALSO SAID THAT IT LOOKS LIKE ITS THE ELECTRICAL UNIT THAT IS ON BACK ORDER AND NOT EVEN AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FROM MANY FORD OWNERS AND THAT I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT TO HAVE THIS RECALLED.
ABS LIGHT WILL RANDOMLY APPEAR AND MY BRAKES WILL STOP WORKING! I TOOK IT INTO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT I NEED A REPLACEMENT MASTER CYLINDER. THE BRAKE TRAVEL SENSOR IS THE PROBLEM AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ, MOST PEOPLE WITH THIS CAR HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN AND AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. LIGHTS COME ON. BRAKES STOP WORKING. *TT *JS
THE GAS PEDAL STICKS OFTEN, AND FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS UNDER THE PEDAL, STOPPING IT FROM BEING DEPRESSED. THIS CAUSES SUDDEN REDUCTION OF SPEED AND THEN SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN PRESSING HARD TO GET THE PEDAL TO GO DOWN. FORD PREVIOUSLY RECALLED THROTTLE BODY'S IN ESCAPES FROM 2009-2012. I BELIEVE THE 2007 FORD ESCAPE MODEL SHOULD BE ADDED TO THAT RECALL! THIS IS A TRUE SAFETY PROBLEM! MINE HAS BEING DOING THIS FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND HAS GOTTEN WAY WORSE SO IT WILL NEED TO BE FIXED.
I HAVE REPLACED THE ABS TONE RINGS IN MY VEHICLE 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 YEARS. TWO OF THE TIMES IT BROKE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I WAS ON A MAJOR ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THERE IS NO REASON FOR IT TO BREAK THIS OFTEN. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE IT CAN ONLY BE FIXED BY A FORD DEALER BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE OVERDRIVE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, THE TRANSMISSION SEIZED, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE MY WIFE AND TWO SMALL KIDS WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" STATEMENT POPPED UP ON THE DISPLAY. SHE MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER 10MIN. SHE WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE HOME. AT HOME VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED AT ALL STILL WITH THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING ON. TOWED IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE RECOMMENDATION OF A TECHNICIAN TO REPLACE THE DC DC CONVERTER. I APPROVED THE REPLACEMENT BUT VEHICLE STILL DOES NOT WANT TO START. A SUDDEN ENGINE STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IS INACCEPTABLE WITH TWO SMALL KIDS AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I'D EXPECT FORD TO COVER ALL REPAIRS TO FIX THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!
POWER TRAIN TRANSMISSION: WHEN I CRANK MY VEHICLE WHILE IN PARK WILL REMAIN RUNNING. WHEN I SHIFT GEARS INTO DRIVE THE VEHICLE MOVES FORWARD WITH CONSISTENT HESITATION WHEN BRINGING MY VEHICLE TO A STOP OR AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE BEGINS' TO SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WILL REMAIN RUNNING, ONLY IF I SHIFT GEARS QUICKLY INTO 2ND GEAR OR PARK AND KEEP ONE FOOT ON THE GAS AND ONE ON THE BRAKES CONSTANTLY. THESE VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUES ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE RECALL ON MY FORD ESCAPE 2007 AT FORDMOTOR.COM WHERE THEIR IS WEB PAGE TO SUBMIT MY VIN NUMBER - SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY VIN NUMBER. THERE ARE NUMEROUS FORUMS DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WE'RE HAVING WITH OUR ESCAPE STALLING AND NOT RUNNING. WE WENT TO A MECHANIC WHO EXPLAINED THERE HAVE BEEN MANY RECALLS ON ESCAPE TRANSMISSIONS AND WE SHOULD REPORT THIS ONE AS WELL AS IT DOESN'T HAVE MANY MILES FOR ITS AGE.
SPORADIC FAILURE OF BRAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG FINALLY DISCOVERED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED REPLACING, AT A FINAL COST OF OVER $6000!!!!!!! BRAKE ISSUES FELT LIKE HYDROPLANING, BRAKE LIGHTS WENT ON (RANDOMLY) AND BRAKES IMMEDIATELY FAILED- NO PRESSURE, PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND CAR DID NOT STOP. BRAKE LIGHTS OFF AND AUTO SHOP CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SYSTEM IS LIFE THREATENING AND FORD SHOULD RECALL ALL CARS ESPECIALLY HYBRIDS TO REPLACE BRAKES. OBVIOUSLY THIS BRAKE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION! A CAR WITHOUT BRAKES IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
CAR STALLED WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET. LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD NOT RESTART WITHOUT JUMP.
BAD REAR DOOR SWITCH. I BOUGHT MY SUV USED ON JULY 14, 2014. THE DOME LIGHT KEPT GOING OFF OR STAYING ON. THE DOORS WOULD OR WOULDN'T LOCK. THE HORN WOULD GO OFF RANDOMLY. THIS IS ALL WITHIN THE FIRST THREE OR FOUR DAYS OF MY OWNING IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IT TOOK THEM A WHILE BUT THEY FINALLY REALIZED IT WAS A BAD REAR DOOR SWITCH. THE DEALER FIXED IT AT NO COST TO ME, BUT I SAW THE BILL WAS ABOUT $600. SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE HORN STARTED GOING OFF AGAIN. MY FRIEND HAS A 2006 FORD ESCAPE. SHE HAS BEEN HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. SHE SAID THE HORN WAS THE WEATHER INDUCED. I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN THE SEASONS CHANGE THAT MY HORN GOES OFF MORE OFTEN. ONE DAY I WAS VISITING HER, AND MY HORN WENT OFFF, SO I USED MY KEY FOB TO TURN IT OFF, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THAT'S WHEN WE REALIZED IT WAS HER CAR GOING OFF. BARELY A COUPLE MINUTES LATER, HER HORN WENT OFF AGAIN. SHE WENT TO TURN IT OFF AND IT WOULDN'T WORK, BECAUSE THIS TIME IT WAS MY CAR. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN THE MOST OBNOXIOUS YET. MY DOME LIGHT, KEEPS GOING OFF AND ON WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT. THE HORN GOES OFF ALL THE TIME. 5 AM, 2PM, 9 AM, SO FAR IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN PARKED. AND THE LIGHT ON MY DASH, KEEPS TELLING ME THAT MY DOOR IS AJAR. IT HAS BEEN DOING THAT ALMOST NONSTOP FOR A COUPLE WEEKS NOW. I DON'T EVEN CHECK THE DOORS ANYMORE. A COUPLE DAYS AGO I HAD A FRIEND IN MY CAR, THE CAR BEEPED AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON. I ASSURED HER THAT THE CAR WAS CONFUSED. THEN WHILE DRIVING 70MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED ROAD SOUNDED EXTRA NOISY, AS IF I HAD A WINDOW OPEN. THEN I REALIZED HER DOOR WAS OPEN, SO SHE QUICKLY OPENED AND RESHUT IT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I'VE LOOKED AT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH I BELIEVE 05'S-08'S ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. THEY USUALLY JUST OVERRIDE THE WIRING IN THE REAR DOOR SWITCH. I DON'T WANT TO GET IT FIXED WITH A BRAND-NEW DEFECTIVE REAR DOOR SWITCH.
THE CAR STOPS ACTSR A FEW CORNERS BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. DOESN"T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, SHETHER IT TURNS OR NOT. AROUND 10-15 MINUTES LATER IT STARTS AGAIN AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. PRESENTLY IT'S PARKING ON THE STREET AND IT'S UNUSABLE.
UPON STARTING "SERVICE BRAKES SOON" WARNING ON DASH ALONG WITH "BRAKE ON " AND "ABS" WARNING LIGHT. SHUT ENGINE DOWN AND CONDUCTED SAFE RESTART. BRAKES WORKING AT LESS THAN 50%. WIFE CAN NO LONGER DRIVE VEHICLE. *TT THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. *JS

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS TOTALLY RUSTED AND COULD ONLY BE REPAIRED BY REBUILDING THE ENTIRE FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL; THEREFORE, NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 206,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY FILTER SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V526000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
RECENTLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK ON MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE AND I HAD TO RUN INTO A CURB TO STOP THE VEHICLE, ITY CAUSED ABOUT $1500 DAMAGE TO THE CAR. NO PERSONNEL INJURIES WERE CAUSED. I HAD TO RUN THE CAR INTO A CURB TO KEEP FROM REAR ENDING ANOTHER VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AIRPORT MARINA FORD (5880 W CENTINELA AVE, LOS ANGELES, CA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HCU ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 107,000.
THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. THERE IS LITTLE TO NO BRAKING POWER WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE, AND THE BRAKES FEEL STIFF TO ENGAGE. ONE SHOP FIXED ALL MY ROTORS AND PADS AND A CALIPER, BUT THE BRAKES STILL DID NOT FUNCTION. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO GO TO A DEALER TO GET THE BRAKES BLED... NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE. SO I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST OVER $4000 TO FIX. THE MAIN ABS CONTROL UNIT AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WERE WHAT THE COMPUTERS SAID WERE THE PROBLEM. AFTER SOME PLEADING, THEY AGREED TO TRY A USED PART FOR ONLY $900. AFTER INSTALLING THE USED PART, THE BRAKES STILL DID NOT FUNCTION. I WAS TOLD THE FORD MAIN HELP LINE SAID ONLY NEW PARTS WOULD FIX IT... TECHNICIANS TRIED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FURTHER BUT EVENTUALLY SAID THE ONLY THING THEY COULD DO IS INSTALL THE NEW PARTS FOR THE HEFTY PRICE. *TT *AS

BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS AND BRAKES FEELS FIRM BUT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STOP. OTHER TIMES IT FEELS JUST FINE. DO NOT FEEL SAVE, NO LONGER ABLE TO USE THE CAR.
THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT AND RED BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND I HAVE VERY LIMITED BRAKING. ALMOST LIKE BRAKING ON AN ICY ROAD AND AT TIMES ALMOST COLLIDED WITH SOME CARS. THEN IT'S NOT ON THE NEXT TIME I START IT UP AGAIN, ONLY TO COME ON AGAIN ON A DIFFERENT DAY OR SO. BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO MY MECHANIC, BUT SINCE THE LIGHTS WEREN'T ON AT THAT TIME, THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT. THEY DID HOWEVER CHECK OUT MY BRAKES AND SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN MY CAR AND DRIVE 20 MILES EACH WAY EVERYDAY TO WORK AND THEIR SCHOOL, THIS IS NOT SAFE!! THE LIGHTS GO AND AND THEN OFF THE NEXT TIME, WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE OFF, THE BRAKES ARE JUST FINE! THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE HERE THAT IS HAPPENING AND MY MECHANIC CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT!!! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 7 MONTHS NOW!! I WILL SUBMIT THE DATE BELOW OF THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED.

POWER STEERING WENT OUT. SEARCHING THE INTERNET SHOWED MANY PEOPLE HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MODULE AT NEAR $1000. THEY DID RECALL THIS SAME MODULE ON THE 2008 FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. THIS SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE PREVIOUS MODELS. THE VEHICLE TURNED ON AND THE POWER STEERING NEVER CAME ON. TEMPERATURE WAS -2 DEGREE F. SERVICE INDITCATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING.
THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID, THE STEERING INSTANTLY BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF AND I WAS FORCED OFF THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT EXTREME AMOUNT OF EFFORT. THE YELLOW WRENCH SYMBOL LIT UP AND A WARNING MESSAGE CAME UP: "SERVICE PWR STEERING." THE FAIL WAS INSTANT AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD JUST COMPLETING A LEFT TURN WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT STEERING SEIZED UP. I CHECKED ALL 4 FUSED RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING AND ALL OF THEM ARE GOOD. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD HYBRID VEHICLES AND IT REQUIRES THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN TO BE REPLACED (A $1500-$2000 JOB). THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT NEEDS TO BE ASAP. *TR
