TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED BY A DEALER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 79,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
NO PRIOR ISSUE -JUST STARTED TO REV UP WHILE DRIVING THEN CONKED OUT-IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD HAVE HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT- NO ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID-NO SMELL NOTHING I BASICALLY ONLY DRIVE THE CARE UP AND DOWN THE STREET I LIVE -NOT A BELTWAY DRIVER-NEVER DRIVE IN SNOW SINCE I AM SECOND OWNER - BOUGHT WHEN 1 YEAR OLD- HAVE HAD 5 YEARS FORD REFUSES TO OFFER WARRANTY AS IT IS 6 YEARS ALSO HAVE HAD REPEATED ISSUES WITH A STICKING GAS PEDAL- NON ACCELERATING -JUST STICKING AND HAVING TO FORCE IT TO RELEASE BY CONSTANT PRESSING ON IT. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON I80 (ABOUT 30 MILES TO SUGAR BOWL SKI RESORT), THE GAS ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUTDOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ABOUT 60 MPH. THERE WAS A RED TRIANGLE LIGHT AND "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. LUCKILY, I WAS ON THE RIGHT MOST LANE AND I COULD PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID INCOMING TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THIS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLING SYSTEM WAS FAILING. FORD IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS PART FAILING FREQUENTLY AND FORD HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR IT: TSB 08-24-5. *TR
2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SMOKE BEGAN TO ENTER THE VEHICLE FROM UNDER THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. MINUTES THE LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, DUE TO THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. *JB
I WAS LEAVING THE PARKING LOT AT MY OFFICE AND "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" "SERVICE 4X4" AND ABS LIGHT ALL COME ON. IT APPEARS TO BE SPLIT TONE RING - A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD ESCAPE HYBRID IF YOU SEARCH WITH GOOGLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES FROM A RECURRING FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING PUMP WAS A COMPONENT THAT WAS KNOWN TO CONTINUOUSLY FRACTURE. MOST RECENTLY, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE STEERING PUMP WOULD NEED REPLACING YET AGAIN, AS WELL AS THE STEERING RACK. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE ENTERING INTO THE STEERING RACK BECAUSE OF THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING PUMP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000. STARTED TO DRIVE AND THE ABS/4WD LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO DEALER AND HAD TO REPLACE THE CRACKED FRONT ABS RING. THIS HAPPENED ON 27JAN2012 AND AGAIN ON 23DEC2013
MULTIPLE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 10 MONTHS NOW ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH RELATES TO ITS SAFETY. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN FALL 2011 FROM SAINT CLAIR FORD DEALERSHIP IN MICHIGAN. IN JAN OF 2012, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK VIA TELEGRAPH NORTH AROUND 50MPH AND NEAR MAPLE ROAD THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SAID -THERE IS A THEFT, BRING VEHICLE TO STOP SAFELY IN THE MIDDLE OF 50MPH TRAFFIC(THIS ROAD IS VERY BUSY)! IT WAS SO SCARY. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER FINALLY. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND AFTER ABOUT 2 MORE TRIES IT STARTED DRIVING AGAIN AND THEN FEW DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER AT VILLAGE FORD AND THEY REPLACED SOME COOLANT PUMP ($600) AND SAID IT SHOULD BE OK NOW. AFTER COUPLE DAYS, THIS STARTED AGAIN. AFTER FEW WEEKS I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERS(SUBURBAN FORD WATERFORD) AND THEY REPLACED ANOTHER COOLING PARTS ($700) BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK AFTER A MONTH AGAIN. RECENTLY FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS, I AM GETTING THESE SERIOUS PROBLEMS SOMETIMES TOGETHER AND SOMETIMES BY THEMSELVES AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES A DAY -"THEFT" AND BRINGS VEHICLE TO STOP WHILE DRIVING, LF TIRE AND BRINGS VEHICLE TO STOP WHILE DRIVING, SERVICE SOON, SERVICE 4X4, WRENCH LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, ETC. BUT THE ERROR CODES GO AWAY WHEN I RESTART AND THEN SOMETHING NEW COMES AFTER DRIVING 5 TO 6 MILES. WHEN I HAD TIME TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES TO READ. ALL THE ERROR CODES GET DELETED AFTER I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THIS TIME I GOT SERVICE SOON LIGHT AND SERVICE 4X4 LIGHT AND BRAKES FAILED EARLIER FOR A WHILE AND I SHOWED IT TO THE DEALER WITHOUT TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF. WE WILL SEE IF THERE ARE ANY RESOLUTIONS. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE. *TR
2007 FORD ESCAPE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF AND TELL ME TO PULL OVER SAFE. HAS HAPPEN DOWN FREEWAY, STOP SIGN, AND LEAVE IN STOP LIGHT IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID ARE 07 FORD ESCAPE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. DURING COLD WEATHER TEMPERATURES, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD BECOME STUCK. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDALS SIMULTANEOUSLY IN ORDER TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY AND HAD JUST BEEN SERVICED. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN MILD CONDITIONS WHEN THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED AT THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND WAS IN A GLIDE. WE LUCKILY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS WE WERE TRAVELING IN THE NUMBER 1 LANE FURTHEST FROM ANY PLACE TO STOP. WE WERE NEARLY KILLED BY A TRUCK TRYING TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 OTHER OCCASIONS IN THE FOLLOWING MONTHS. ALL INSTANCES BUT ONE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY. ALL PUT ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
I WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE,WHEN I TURNED AROUND MY VEHICLE WAS HEADING TOWARD ME TRIED TO STOP IT RAN ME OVER AND THEN HIT A TREE , I RECEIVED INJURY TO MY LEGS, ALSO HAD TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED ON THE LEFT FRONT END. ON THE NIGHT OF OCTOBER 21, 2011 I WAS DRIVING ON RT.66W NEAR GAINESVILLE, VA IN MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID WITH APPROXIMATELY 71,500 MILES.. AN ALARM SOUNDED AND I GOT A DASH MESSAGE READING "STOP THE CAR SAFELY NOW". CONCURRENTLY, I LOST POWER AND WAS FORCED TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN I CONSULTED THE OWNER'S MANUAL, I WAS INFORMED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HYBRID SYSTEM. THE MANUAL SUGGESTED TURNING OFF THE CAR & RESTARTING. WHEN I DID THIS, THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE POWER RETURNED. I WAS EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT PULLING INTO 70 MPH TRAFFIC AND CRAWLED DOWN THE SHOULDER UNTIL I COULD EXIT. FOR THE NEXT 35 MILES (UNTIL I GOT TO MY DESTINATION) THIS SAME THING OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES ON DARK, RURAL ROADS. LUCKILY, MY HUSBAND WAS TRAVELING THE SAME ROUTE IN ANOTHER CAR, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, AND THERE WERE AVAILABLE SHOULDERS ON THE ROAD FOR AN IMMEDIATE PULL-OVER. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING SITUATION. I CONSIDER THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ON A HIGH-SPEED HIGHWAY TO BE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS WARRANTS A RECALL OF THE FAILING PARTS TO PREVENT ANY OTHER OCCURRENCES WHICH COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLY FATALITIES. *TR THE DEALER REPLACED THE COOLING FAN AND WATER PUMP
2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT *CN THAT CONSUMER STATED SHE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. SHE CALLED HER LOCAL DEALER, WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED PART OF THE SERVICE SHE HAD DONE ON HER VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2011, WAS IN FACT COVERED. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE HYBRID SYSTEM. *JB
ANYTIME TEMPERATURE IS BELOW APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES F, GAS PEDAL STICKS AND CANNOT BE DEPRESSED FOR ACCELERATION UNTIL VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. PEDAL ALSO HANGS CLOSED AT THIS TEMPERATURE WHILE BEING DRIVEN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN MAJOR TRAFFIC, I WAS TRYING TO CHANGE LANES AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, MY PEDAL WAS FROZEN IN PLACE AND I COULD NOT GET IT MOVED. MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. THEN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS MY PEDAL POPPED AND I COULD ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES EACH TIME, THE PEDAL FROZE LONGER. THE LAST TIME, WAS IN APRIL ON A SUNDAY AND MY GAS PEDAL FROZE AGAIN. I WAS IN MAJOR TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES WERE DRIVING FAST BEHIND ME AS A LIGHT HAD JUST CHANGED TO GREEN. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT MY GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK, I WAS DRIVING BY A GARDEN NURSERY (BUSINESS) WHICH HAS AS HUGE DIRT DRIVEWAY, I SKIDDED INTO THE LOT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID BEING HIT. I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN HIT IF I HAD NOT OF TURNED. MY SPEED HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED. IN THIS INSTANCE, MY GAS PEDAL STAYED FROZEN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. I KEPT PUTTING MY CAR IN REVERSE TO TRY TO GET SOME MOMENTUM AS I COULD NOT GET ANY SPEED GOING FORWARD. FINALLY, I TURNED MY CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AS I WAS NOT MAKING ANY PROGRESS AND TRIED AGAIN. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, I TRIED TO DRIVE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND I GOT A LITTLE SPEED. I DROVE HOME AND NEVER MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION FOR THE DAY. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IF THERE WAS A RECALL. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM AND NOT AWARE AND NO RECALL EXISTED.
MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS IN THE VEHICLE LEAVING A PARKING LOT WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT BOTH CAME ON AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK AT ALL. I KEPT TRYING TO USE THE BRAKE AND THEN HAD TO THROW THE EBRAKE ON TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I COULD NOT IMAGINE IF WE WERE GOING ANY FASTER OR IF SOMEONE ELSE IN MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING THE CAR. THE COST TO GET IT FIXED WAS $3,820 WHICH WAS OUTRAGEOUS. *JS

THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND IT VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT DISPLAY A FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL WEEKS LATER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED HOWEVER, DID NOT RECTIFY THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHEN THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,750.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELLS WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. UPDATED 11/12/14*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A KNOCK COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 02/03/15
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE. THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL PUMP MODULE AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A CONCURRENT INVESTIGATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP12006 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL SQUEAKING NOISE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHERE THE DEALER NOTICED THE FRONT STABILIZER LINK WAS FRACTURED. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH LINKS. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT HAD CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,339.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE STARTING MAKING NOISE.. I PULLED TO A GAS STATION WHERE WE FOUND NO OIL IN THE TRUCK. NOT AT ANYTIME DID MY OIL LIGHT OR EVEN MY ENGINE COME ON... MY ENGINE IS BLOWN. NOW I AM GOING TO TRY TO GET MY WARRANTY TO GET IT FIXED.. THAT SHOULD BE A "FUN" EXPERIENCE. *TR
ABS LIGHT, SERVICE BRAKE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CAR REQUIRES ME TO STOP. IT WILL NOT RESTART AND BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH VARIOUS FIXES FROM THE DEALERSHIPS (REPLACE FUSES, REPLACE BROKEN TONE RINGS, RECALIBRATE ABS, ETC). THIS HAS HAPPENED NOW FOR THE 5TH TIME (I AM AT 78,239 MILES ON THE CAR). THIS TIME MY BRAKES WENT OUT ENTIRELY WITH NO WARNING. THANKFULLY I WAS GOING VERY SLOW IN A NEIGHBORHOOD. THE DEALER HAS INSTRUCTED ME THAT THE CAR REQUIRES A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND A NEW HCU. THE COST OF THIS WAS QUOTED AT $6800. WITHOUT THIS FIX MY CAR IS UNSAFE AND NOT DRIVABLE.
HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TONE RING ON 06-11-2011 AND NOW ITS BROKE AGAIN. I THINK FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS FOR SAFETY REASONS AND NOT BE CHARGING THE CUSTOMER FOR THESE REPAIRS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES AND CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ABS LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE EXCITER RING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I HAVE THIS 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT. IT WORKED FINE UNTIL THIS YEAR WHEN THE CAR WOULD TURN OFF AT THE LIGHT STOP AFTER A MESSAGE OF "STOP SAFELY NOW" DISPLAYED ON BOARD. I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARKING AND TURN ON THE ENGINE BEFORE I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A CHECK UP AND IT TURNED OUT THAT A SMALL STONE MAD A SMALL HOLE IN THE RADIATOR. WE FIXED THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMED TO WORK WELL UNTIL 3 MONTHS LATER WHEN IT BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, ONLY THIS TIME THE DISPLAY SHOWED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I ONLY HAVE A FEW SECONDS TO FIND A WAY TO STOP SAFELY BEFORE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AFTER THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE. IT IS SCARY SINCE IT HAPPENS EVERY FEW MILES NOW. WE SWITCHED TO DIFFERENT GAS BRANDS, MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE, CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER ON TIME. THE OWNER'S MANUAL MENTIONS THAT THE STOP SAFELY NOW MESSAGE COULD BE AN INDICATION OF HYBRID COMPONENTS FAILURE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND READ FORUM DISCUSSIONS AND I FOUND OUT THAT MANY ESCAPE HYBRID OWNERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. IT LOOKS LIKE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT TO ME. I OWN A 2007 FORD ESCAPE, IN WHICH I PURCHASED AS A NEW VEHICLE IN 2007. WITHIN 500 MILES OF THAT PURCHASE DATE, I ENDED UP BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY DEALERSHIP (PRESTIGUE FORD) DALLAS, TEXAS FOR REPAIRS. THE TROUBLE WAS THAT THE AC WENT COMPLETELY OUT. DUE TO THE WARRANTY THEY REPAIRED IT. ON 5/4/11, THE AC WENT OUT AGAIN IN WHICH I SENT IT TO AN AUTOMOBILE AC SPECIALIST WHICH DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A AC COMPRESSOR WITH CLUTCHES OUT. MY VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS 66,000 ON IT. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE AC WOULD HAVE GONE OUT THIS EARLY IN ITS LIFE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED TAPE WRAPPED AROUND THE SEAT BELT LATCH, LOCATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT METAL LATCH WAS LOOSE AND THERE WAS ALSO A CRACK IN THE METAL LATCH. THE DEALER MADE THE CONTACT AWARE THAT THE TAPE WAS COSMETIC AND DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIR TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,692.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED. SIX MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED.
I KNEW I NEEDED TO HAVE MY BRAKES AND ROTORS DONE SO I TOOK THEM IN TO GET FIXED AT MEINEKE. AFTER THEY WERE FINISHED THEY TOOK IT FOR THE NORMAL TEST DRIVE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS WORKING CORRECTLY. THEY NOTICED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES CAME ON BUT THE LIGHT WASN'T COMING ON. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO FORD BECAUSE THEY CANT HANDLE ABS. I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY FRONT LEFT TONE RING WAS CRACKED. I PAID ALMOST $350 FOR A $10 PIECE TO BE PUT ON. I DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS AND IT STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT BACK BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD TO PAY $100 JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT TO TELL ME ITS THE SAME THING AGAIN. ON 3/19/2011 I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE, PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE, AND IT DIED. NO DASH BOARD INDICATORS (CHECK ENGINE OR OIL LIGHT) WENT ON PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. I TRIED TO START IT, BUT IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER. IT WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHEREIN THEY INDICATED THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED, A $6,400.00 COST TO ME IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER IT. THEY WANT MY OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS, I ONLY HAVE A HANDFUL, I DON'T KEEP THE RECEIPTS. IF I DON'T GIVE THEM 10-12 OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WON'T COVER A THING. BEFORE EVEN LOOKING AT THE ENGINE, THE DEALER AND FORD COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE BLAMED ME FOR THE PROBLEM. I'VE HAD TWO OTHER CARS IN THE LAST 20 YEARS, BOTH KEPT ABOUT 10 YEARS EACH AND NEVER HAD AN ENGINE PROBLEM. LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

I ASKED WHY THE PART WAS BEING REDESIGNED, HE HAD NO ANSWER, TO ME MEANS THE ORIGINAL PART IN MY CAR IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, SPOKE TO A REP & TWO SUPERVISORS, WHO ALL REFUSE ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION FOR TWO KNOWN ISSUES OF THE MANUFACTURER DEFECTS SINCE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL FOR THE 2007 MODEL. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS BELOW 32 DEGREES, THE GAS PEDAL STICKS. THIS OCCURS WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC.
