ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DEPRESS, AS IF IT IS LOCKED INTO POSITION. THIS HAPPENS ON THE AVERAGE OF 4-5 TIMES PER WEEK, MOST FREQUENTLY WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND HAS BEEN SITTING...BUT OCCASIONALLY AS CAR IS BEING DRIVEN DOWN THE ROAD. LAST NIGHT I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT GIVE THE VEHICLE ANY GAS AT ALL, AS A TRACTOR TRAILER WAS QUICKLY BEARING DOWN ON ME. I HAD TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO STOMP EXTREMELY FORCEFULLY ONTO THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IT TO "UNSTICK". THIS PROBLEM IS BECOMING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO HAVE THE ACCELERATOR CABLE REPLACED. (ASSUMING THAT'S THE PROBLEM). *TR
THE PARKING BRAKE ON OUR 2007 FORD ESCAPE DOES NOT WORK. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TIFFANY FORD ON FEBRUARY 18, 2009 TO BE ADJUSTED. THE VEHICLE HAS 26,000 MILES ON IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED AFTERWARD THE BRAKES WERE IN GOOD SHAPE AND HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE EMERGENCY WAS NOT ADJUSTING. WITHIN 2 WEEKS THE BRAKE HAS BECOME LOOSE AGAIN AND WE WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A SECOND TIME. *TR
REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT IN UPPER 20'S DEGREE WEATHER. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF VANDALISM, ACCORDING TO POLICE REPORT. WINDOW BROKE FOR NO APPARENT REASON OR FAULT. *TR
ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS STICKING BADLY AND SOMETIMES IS VERY HARD TO PRESS DOWN. GENERALLY HAPPENS WHEN EITHER THE ENGINE IS COLD OR THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 60. IT GETS SO BAD AT TIMES I HAVE TO REALLY STOMP ON IT AND THAT, OF COURSE, CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. FOR THE PAST FOUR WEEKS, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BARELY MOVES WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 40 SECONDS, WHILE HER FOOT IS STILL ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES EXTREMELY FAST AUTOMATICALLY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT BEING DRIVEN DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE. SHE FEELS THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD PERFORM THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44,000.
I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY AND MY CAR JERKED AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NEXT THING I KNOW I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR DOES NOT GO FORWARD, JUST STOPS AND STILL RUNNING WHILE TWO HUGE TRUCKS ARE COMING FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS, THINKING QUICKLY, I THOUGHT THE CAR MAY HAVE REVERSE. WELL, THANK GOD IT DID AND REVERSE I WENT. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN REVERSE AND CALL CHAPMAN FORD TO COME AND PICK IT UP. MY VEHICLE IS STILL THERE AND THEY HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION. I AM VERY SHAKEN AND AM TOO SCARED TO GET BACK INTO THE CAR. I HAVE NEVER FELT LIKE THIS BEFORE AND HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT A FORD FOR SAFETY REASONS, BUT THIS HAS MADE ME FEEL VERY, VERY UNSAFE. *TR
TRANSMISSION WENT AT 20,000 MILES, REPLACED 2 ABS SENSORS, GS PEDAL STICKS, FRONT DISC BRAKES WARP. *TR
THE SUV IS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE, PURCHASED IN DECEMBER OF 2006. DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL JAN. 2009. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS IN COLD WEATHER. EVERY DAY AFTER HAVING STARTED THE CAR. EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE HAS WARMED UP. YOU CAN START DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN SUDDENLY THE ACCELERATOR STICKS, WILL NOT DEPRESS. SOMETIMES IT MIGHT DEPRESS AND YOU THINK ITS OK AND THEN IT DOES IT AGAIN. YOU CAN BE IN TRAFFIC AND CANNOT PROCEED. DOESN'T STOP UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR ATLEAST 10-15 MINUTES. IN WARMER WEATHER ( FROM APRIL-DECEMBER) IT DOESN'T HAPPEN. *TR

ON OR ABOUT 12/11/08 MY WIFE'S 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT STARTED TO SPUTTER THEN QUIT RUNNING. IT DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES. SHE CALL ME IN WHICH I TOLD HER IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. WE TOOK IT THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. SINCE IT WAS A HYBRID WE HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT. THEY TOLD US IT WAS A HYBRID THING. THEY TOLD US IT WAS A COOLING PUMP. WE HAD THEM FIX IT AT A COST OF $640.61. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS PUMP FAILED SO QUICKLY. THE PART # IS 6M64-8C419-AA. PLEASE DO AN INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE. IF SO I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY REIMBURSED. I HAVE THE OLD PUMP THANK YOU MITCH. *TR
MY WIFE'S 2007 IS BACK IN THE DEALERSHIP NOW FOR THE FIFTH TIME WITH MAJOR ABS/BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURES IN THE PAST YEAR. THIS WEEKEND WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, IT STARTED TO SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY SHE HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER. SHE IS DEATHLY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANY MORE AND WE WOULD JUST LIKE TO GET RID OF IT. HERE IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE BRAKE ISSUES THIS YEAR: 1. AT 17,760 MILES 2/1/08 THE "SERVICE BRAKES" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. BORGMAN FORD CHECKED SYSTEM AND SAID FUSE #1 WAS BLOWN. NO OTHER FAULTS WERE FOUND. 2. AT 17,771 MILES 2/1/08 MILES "SERVICE BRAKES" LIGHT ON AGAIN. DIAGNOSIS WAS THE ABS MODULE WAS BLOWING FUSES SO THE BRAKE CONTROL ASSY, SOLENOID VALVE BLOCK/HCU WERE REPLACED. VEHICLE OUT OF SERVICE FOR 6 DAYS. 3. AT 23,539 8/4/08 MESSAGE CENTER READS "LOW BRAKE FLUID". DEALER REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BLED THE BRAKES. VEHICLE OUT OF SERVICE FOR 5 DAYS. 4. AT 23,713 8/11/08 MY WIFE BROUGHT IN BECAUSE OF THE EXTREMELY LOUD NOISES COMING FROM THE ABS PUMP. DEALER BLED THE BRAKES..STILL NOISY; REPLACED HCU BLED BRAKES AGAIN..OUT OF SERVICE 9 DAYS. 5. AT 26,059 10/19/08 VIOLENT SHAKING WHILE ON FREEWAY ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT NARROWLY AVOIDING THE CAR IN FRONT. BACK TO DEALER. DIAGNOSIS WAS "DELAYED BRAKING (EUPHEMISM FOR ALMOST HITTING SOMEONE), ABS & TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ON. DEALER PULLED THE RIGHT FRONT HALFSHAFT AND REPLACED BROKEN TONE RING. FORD CUSTOMER CARE SAID TO CALL THEM WHEN IT FAILS AGAIN BEFORE TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALER. *TR UPDATED 6/8/18*JB
I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A WEEK NOW BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS KEEP MALFUNCTIONING. THEY MAY WORK FOR A WEEK OR A FEW DAYS THEN THEY MALFUNCTION AGAIN. SEVERAL THINGS HAS BEEN REPLACED, THE LAST ONE BEING THE OVERHEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FAIL TO WORK EXCEPT FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR
MY SISTER OWNED A 2007 FIRD ESCAPE. THERE WAS A TIRE ISSUE FIXED SEPT. 2008 AT MASS TIRE BROCKTON. AFTER THEY FIXED HER TIRE, WE EXPERIENCED SO LOUD, UNSTEADY ISSUE WITH THE TIRES. WE BROUGHT IT BACK AND THERE WAS VALVE WORK DONE. ON OCT. 08, 2008, MY SISTER DIED ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER HER CAR ROLLED OVER ATTEMPTING TO SWITCH LANES. SHE WAS ALONE. *TR
2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID TIRE MONITOR INDICATED LOW TIRE PRESSURE. DISCOUNT TIRE REPLACED TIRE. TWO WEEKS LATER ANOTHER TIRE WAS LOW. DISCOUNT TIRE FIXED REMAINING 3 TIRE VALVE STEMS. TOTAL COST $245.79. *TR
I BOUGHT A FORD ESCAPE 2007. . JUST DRIVE 11,000 MILE AND A YEAR. THE FRONT TIRE IS LEAK AND HAVE TO REPLACED. UNBELIEVABLE *TR
2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. ATTORNEY WRITES ON BEHALF OF CONSUMERS REGARDING BLUE OX BX2609 BASE PLATE INSTALLATION. *TGW THE LAWYER STATED HIS CLIENTS EXPERIENCED TWO DANGEROUS FAILURES OF THE BASE PLATE. WHAT MADE THE SITUATION EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IS THAT IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR A USER OF THE PRODUCT TO INSPECT TO INSPECT THE PRODUCT FOR ANY SIGNS OF DAMAGE PRIOR TO USING THE BASE PLATE TO TOW A VEHICLE. ONCE THE BASE PLATE AS INSTALLED, IT WAS USUALLY HIDDEN BY THE BUMPER AND FRONT FACADE OF THE VEHICLE. ON JULY 25, 2088 WHILE DRIVING, THE BASE PLATE FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE TOW VEHICLE TO SWING VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH ACROSS LANES OF TRAFFIC. THE METAL BRACKET ON THE BAS PLATE ATTACHING IT TO THE TO VEHICLE (FORD ESCAPE) WAS RIPPED FROM THE METAL BEAM PART OF THE BASE PLATE SPANNING THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT THE JOINT BETWEEN THE BRACKET AND BASE PLATE BEAM. IN TOTAL THERE WAS ABOUT $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO BOTH THE MOTOR HOME AND THE TOW VEHICLE. ANOTHER BASE PLATE WAS SENT TO THE CONSUMER AND INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. ON JULY 25, 2012, WHILE DRIVING AND USING THE ALLEGEDLY REDESIGNED BLUE OX BASE PLATE, THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE TOW VEHICLE HAS BECOME DISCONNECTED AND FOUND THAT ONCE AGAIN THE BASE PLATE FAILED. THE BASE PLATE BEAM WAS RIPPED FROM THE METAL BRACKET ATTACHMENT POINTS IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY IN WHICH THE PREVIOUS BASE PLATE HAD FAILED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS REAR ENDED AND CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. SHE WAS FORCED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS STRUCK HEAD ON BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS INJURED. SINCE I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE I AM HAVING WATER LEAKS PROBLEMS IN THE DRIVER SIDE I BROUGHT FOR REPAIR 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE COMPANY SAYS THEY CANT FIND NO WATER LEAKS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT DOING THE WATER LEAK TEST PROPERLY, PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION. *TR
I KNOW THIS COMPLAINT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS AN ISSUE HOWEVER WHEN I AM PURCHASING A VEHICLE FOR $22,000. MY SEATS ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE STAIN GUARD, AND HAVE A WARRANTY SO WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE VEHICLE IT SOUNDS GREAT! I DO LOVE MY CAR BUT I HATE THE FABRIC ON MY SEATS. WE DON'T EVEN EAT IN IT AND I DON'T ALLOW DRINK BESIDES WATER BUT I HAVE LEARNED THIS ALSO STAINS MY SEATS. YOU COULD POUR AN ENTIRE BOTTLE OF WATER OVER ANY MATERIAL IN MY HOME AND UNLESS ITS SILK IT WOULD NOT STAIN IT!!!!!!!! HAVE 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE GAS PEDAL STICKS IN COLD WEATHER (40 DEGREES AND LOWER). THE PEDAL IS FINE UPON STARTUP AND FOR A FEW MILES, BUT THEN WITH NO WARNING, IT STICKS TO THE POINT IT CAN NOT BE PRESSED. I WEIGH 250 LBS AND I CAN NOT PUT ENOUGH PRESSURE ON IT PRESS IT DOWN. NO ACCIDENTS SO FAR, BECAUSE I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA, BUT IT IS STILL VERY DANGEROUS. I'VE HAD TO WAVE OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME UNTIL BEING ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND RESTART IT TO CLEAR UP THE PROBLEM. I'VE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED IN THE PAST, AND THAT SEEMS TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A VERY SHORT WHILE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED AND PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. THE DEALER IS CURRENTLY DIAGNOSING THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. ALL OF THE REMEDIES TO DATE HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,731 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE TRANSMISSION WAS JERKING AND SHIFTING HARD. WHEN COMING TO A STOP IT MADE A SOUND LIKE TWISTING METAL AND THE BRAKES POPPED AND JERKED, WHEN ACCELERATING IN A CURVE. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE ALSO PULLED TO THE LEFT. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR NO REASON, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS DID NOT WORK PROPERLY, THEY WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK AT WILL WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS BACKING UP. UPDATED 02/05/09. *JB
2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID LOCK-OUT AND CRUISE CONTROL ARE NOT ILLUMINATED PROPERLY. CUSTOMER STATES THAT PASSENGER SWITCH IS INOPERATIVE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE NIGHT DRIVING WOULD BE ENHANCED IF THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND WINDOW LOCK OUT SWITCH LOCATED ON THE DOOR WAS BETTER ILLUMINATED. *TR
MY DAUGHTER WEIGHS 90 LBS. WHEN SHE SITS IN THE FRONT SEAT OF OUR 2007 FORD ESCAPE, THE AIRBAG TURNS ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY, DEPENDING ON MINOR ADJUSTMENTS OF HER POSTURE. THE DEALER HAS SEEN IT AND SAYS THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT, AS IT IS A FEDERALLY REGULATED SETTING. SO I GUESS WE'LL JUST NEVER KNOW IF MY DAUGHTER WILL HAVE A FUNCTIONAL AIR BAG IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *JB
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE ON 2007 FORD HYBRID. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING NORTH AND THIS PERSON WAS GOING SOUTH, CROSSED THE CENTERLINE AND SLAMMED INTO ME, PUSHING ME BETWEEN TWO TREES AND TOTALING MY VEHICLE. IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME FROM SLAMMING MY FOREHEAD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO NOTHING AND SEND NO ONE TO SEE WHY THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I ENDED UP BEING BROUGHT BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE X-RAYS SHOWED MY NECK WAS SPRAINED AND I HAD A SCRAPE TO MY FOREHEAD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. *JB

THE DEALER DID NOT KNOW HOW TO DISABLE THE AIR BAG ON-OFF SWITCH ASSEMBLY. THE FUEL SYSTEM AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MILES PER HOUR BOTH BRAKES LIGHTS CAME ON - THE ABS LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT. WHEN I TRIED THE BRAKES, I HAD NONE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND STOP THE CAR WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RE-STARTED IT AND THE BRAKES WORKED. I DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHO HAD THE VEHICLE FROM A FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THEY TOLD ME THEY REPLACED THE SOLENOID VALVE BLOCK. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. FROM RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT OTHER ESCAPE HEVS HAVE ALSO HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES -THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER. THEY TOLD ME SOMEONE WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH ME IN 2-5 DAYS. NO ONE CONTACTED ME AND AFTER 8 DAYS I CALLED THEM BACK. THEY OFFERED ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE: I DON'T FEEL THE CAR IS SAFE AND I FEEL THERE IS A STRONG LIKELIHOOD THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN EITHER THE VEHICLE OR FORD. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, ALL FOUR WHEELS LOCKED UP WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE FAILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 41.
BOUGHT A 2007 FORD EDGE IN MAY 2007 WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES CROSS CONTACT LX 24560R18 IN A OPTION PACKAGE WITH A 17 INCH SPARE. VERY SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE HAD CAR AT DEALER FOR VIBRATION. DEALER BALANCED ALL 4 TIRES. WENT BACK SECOND TIME FOR TIRE VIBRATION MECHANIC AND DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS NORMAL TIRE OPERATION. AT 40 MPH SLIGHT VIBRATION AS SPEED IS INCREASED 70 MPH IT WAS MORE PREVALENT. IT WAS NOT A SMOOTH RIDING TIRE NEVER FELT THIS WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE WE HAVE PURCHASED. FEEL THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH CONTINENTAL REPUTATION AND ONLY 300 MILES ON VEHICLE AT THAT TIME AND NOW CLOSE TO 1000 MILES NOW. NEED NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS TIRE BECAUSE OF DEALERS AND FORDS NEGLECT. DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS THE TIRES OR THE VEHICLE. WITH FORD'S PROBLEM WITH THEIR TIRES IN THE PAST AND WITH THE INJURIES AND DEATHS THAT HAD OCCURRED I THINK THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT BY NHTSA AND FORD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. ON APRIL 11, 2007, WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES TO AVOID CRASHING INTO A VEHICLE THAT STOPPED IN FRONT OF HER. THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF LITHIA FORD STATED THAT THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT 60 MPH. A FORD ENGINEER PROVIDED RELATED INFORMATION. WE PURCHASED A 2007 FORD ESCAPE IN FEB. WITHIN A FEW DAYS WE NOTICED A STRANGE NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. WE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER & THE MANAGER AGREED THAT THERE WAS INDEED A NOISE. WE BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE & UPON PICKING IT UP THE NEXT DAY, WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE MANAGER INSISTED THAT THEY INVESTIGATE FURTHER, SO IT WAS KEPT ANOTHER DAY. STILL, NO IDEA WHAT THE NOISE WAS. WE HAVE DRIVEN IN OTHER '07 ESCAPES THAT DO NOT THEY THIS NOISE. NOW IT'S 6 WEEKS LATER, WE HAVE 600 MILES ON A CAR WITH A STRANGE NOISE & FORD MAY FINALLY BE SENDING A TROUBLE SHOOTER TO INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION. SINCE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS CAUSING THE NOISE, WE HAVE SOME CONCERNS AS TO THE TRUCKS SAFETY. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT PROBLEM IS OCCURRING IN OTHER '07 ESCAPES. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING A 2006 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING AT 60 MPH WHEN THERE WAS A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY. THE ABS LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE APPLIED GREAT FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. HE ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED, AND HE HAD TO DRIVE INTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPPED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED A SPEED OF 20 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS RESOLVED TEMPORARILY AFTER THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,872.
SINC E PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON AND OFF, AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF GAS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. TAKEN TO FORD DELERSHIP IN MARCH, 2007, BUT DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
MY VECHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN MY FRONT YARD OVER NIGHT SOMETIME IN THE REAR TRUNK OF MY SUV AND FORD DEALERSHIP AND THER CAUSE OF ORGIN HAS LEFT IT UNEXPLAINED. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES HAD FAILED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. EACH TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE SALES/SERVICE DEALER. THE RIGHT BRAKE SENSOR WAS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME. ON THE 2ND VISIT, THE MASTER COMPUTER SWITCH WAS REPLACED. ON THE 3RD VISIT, ALL SENSORS WERE REPLACED. ALSO, WHILE TRAVELING 22 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED FOR THE 4TH TIME. ALL SENSORS, MASTER CYLINDER AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, BUT THE BRAKES STILL FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.*AK
