TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ,THE "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM AND RE-GEN BRAKE DISABLE" MESSAGE DISPLAYED. IN ADDITION, A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,823.
MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE HAD IT'S REAR LIFGATE GLASS (THE REAR WINDSHIELD) MYSTERIOUSLY SHATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AT MY MOTHERS HOUSE AND CAME OUTSIDE AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF BEING THERE TO SEE A SHATTERED BACK WINDSHIELD. HER HOME IS IN A VERY RURAL AREA AND IT HAPPENED AROUND MID-DAY, SO THAT ALMOST COMPLETELY RULES OUT VANDALS. I SUSPECT THAT THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AS I'VE READ ABOUT OTHER SIMILAR CASES. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR THAT DAY AND THERE AREN'T ANY NEARBY TREES. I FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF ANY OBJECT CAUSING THE DAMAGE AND I WAS VERY THOROUGH. NOW I'M ON THE HOOK FOR A $500 REPAIR AFTER CHECKING IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ITEM.
MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A SIDE STREET ONTO A MAJOR CONNECTOR ROAD. STEERING FROZE WHEN TRYING TO TURN. WAS ABLE TO PUT VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO GET OUT OF MAJOR ROAD. WAVED FOLLOWING CAR AROUND AND BACKED UP FURTHER FROM INTERSECTION SO AS NOT TO CREATE A HAZARD. WAS ABLE TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY BUT WAS CLEARLY NOT DRIVABLE AS IT WAS. TURNED OFF IGNITION AND RESTARTED FOR NO REASON. STEERING THEN WORKED.
TORQUE SENSOR RECALL -- INITIAL SYMPTOMS HAPPENED WHILE ON HIGHWAY, TROUBLE STEERING ABOVE 45MPH, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING 5-10DEGREE ANGLE ON ITS OWN. ONCE OFF THE HIGHWAY TURNING REQUIRING WIDE ANGLE TO GO LEFT OR RIGHT. AFTER PARKED, UNABLE TO GET OUT OF NOSED-IN PARK SPACE. DASHBOARD WRENCH LIGHT LITE -- ERROR CODE B2278 DIAGNOSIS BY AUTO CENTER. DIFFICULT STEERING ON STREET, TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD VIN NOT COVERED BY RECALL EVEN THOUGH STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. PAID FOR TORQUE SENSOR REPLACEMENT FOR A "FREE OF CHARGE RECALL REMEDY".
HELLO, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. ON SATURDAY MARCH 24,2018 MY MOM AND I WERE IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA AND HAD PARKED TO GO TO A BAKERY WHEN WE WENT IN AND CAME BACK OUT MY MOM SAID THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN. I COULD OBVIOUSLY SEE HER STRUGGLING. I TRIED TO TURN IT AND IT WAS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN. WE HAD TO GET A TOW TRUCK TO PICK IT UP AND BRING IT TO MY HOUSE. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, EXPLAINING TO THEM THE PROBLEM. THE LADY TOLD ME THAT EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEMS UNDER THE RECALL FOR 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPE, THAT MY VIN NUMBER DIDN'T HAVE ANY RECALLS UNDER IT. I ASKED HER TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE OVER HER AND SHE REFUSED SO I THEN HUNG UP ON HER. I CALLED BACK AND SPOKE TO ANOTHER PERSON, THIS PERSON THEN AFTER KEEPING ME ON HOLD FOR A LONG TIME, TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED ALREADY!!! I TOLD HER THAT'S NOT TRUE AND THEN HUNG UP ON HER. I DECIDED TO CALL BACK JUST TO SEE IF SOMEONE ELSE WAS GOING TO LIE TO ME. THIS THIRD PERSON THAT I SPOKE TO SAID PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING AS THE FIRST PERSON I SPOKE TO. WHY DID THIS LADY, LIE? ALL I KNOW IS MY VEHICLE IS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE AND THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS VEHICLES ARE EXHIBITING, MINE IS AS WELL. WHY ITS NOT UNDER THE RECALL LIST, I DON'T KNOW. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR WRECK OR WORSE. I SHOULD HAVE TO GET INJURED OR KILLED FOR FORD TO REALIZE THAT THE FAULT IS ON THEM TO FIX WHAT THEY SO CALLED TAKE PRIDE IN (THEIR VEHICLES)

THE DEALER (INTERSTATE FORD, 125 ALEXANDERSVILLE RD, MIAMISBURG, OH 45342) WAS CONTACT AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT SINCE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL JUST STARTED SHAKING WHILE IN PARK AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. WAS TOLD IT'S MY SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN IF AND THAT FORD HAD TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE REPROGRAMMED.
THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WILL NOT START THE CAR. I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. WHY ISN'T IT A RECALL? IT IS NOT JUST WITH THE 2008. PEOPLE ARE DOING ALL SORTS OF WORK AROUND BECAUSE THE REPAIR COST IS THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VARSITY LINCOLN (49251 GRAND RIVER AVE, NOVI, MI 48376) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING); THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
CAR STARTED LAST WEEK WITH A PHANTOM SHAKE OF THE STEERING WHEEL, WHILE THE CAR WAS ON AND IN PARK, OR WHILE STATIONARY AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, SLIGHT SHAKE WHILE DRIVING. NOW 8 DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD, POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE ERROR MESSAGE CAME ONTO THE DASH, RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. RECALL WAS DONE TO THIS SUV IN 2014, AND STILL THERE ARE ISSUES. SEEING THIS SAME ISSUE STATED NUMEROUS TIMES ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!
I HAVE POWER STEERING ISSUE.I HAVE RECEIVED MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD SAYING"POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". SO, NEED SOME HELP TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE.
MY STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO VIBRATE WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. NEXT I GOT THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" CODE RIGHT BEFORE PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD NO POWER STEERING IN MY VEHICLE. I HAD THE RECALL DONE (14S05) IN JANUARY OF 2015. WHEN I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD THE RECALL WORK DONE, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT HAD BEEN PERFORMED, BUT NO FURTHER WORK WILL BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.
I HAD MY ESCAPE SERVICED FOR THE 14S05 RECALL IN OCT 2014 WHERE THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE EPAS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. NOW MY CAR'S STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WITH A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN IDLING...AND SOMETIME WHILE MOVING. I SEE REPORTS/REVIEWS THAT THE POWER-STEERING WILL LIKELY GO OUT SOON AND PUT ME AT RISK OF A CRASH. ALL REVIEWS MENTION ESTIMATES FROM FORD OF $1400-$2000 TO FIX. THEY ARE CLAIMING NO RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS, AND YET I'M STUCK WITH A SERIOUS THREAT TO MYSELF AND OTHERS SHOULD SOMETHING HAPPEN. SERIOUSLY, WHO HAS $2000 LYING AROUND TO FIX SOMETHING THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, SINCE THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSEMBLY HAD A DEFECT IN IT'S DESIGN?! I ALSO HEAR THAT REPLACEMENTS HAVE THE SAME DEFECT AND WILL LIKELY FAIL AGAIN. I HAVEN'T BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT I'M HAVING ANXIETY NOW EVERY TIME I HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AT A COMPLETE STOP, WHEN YOU START TO MOVE THE SHAKE BECOME WORSE AND YOU NEED TO HOLD THE WHEEL WITH 2 HANDS OTHERWISE THE WHEEL TURNS AT ANYTIME.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND EXPLAINED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), AND WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN FOR FREE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
I HAVE NO POWER STEERING
ERROR CODE APPEARED ON MY DASH READING. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. 20 MINUTES LATER THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. I CALLED FORD FOR THE CURRENT RECALL ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY SAID MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES AFFECTED.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
VEHICLE ABS REG/BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLES BRAKES ARE WORKING ON A LIMITED BASIS, UNSAFE TO DRIVE. APPEARS FRONT BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING.THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING A HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE PART THAT HAS FAILED IS A HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROL THAT COST ABOUT $5000.00 (PER DEALER QUOTE). CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN AT THIS TIME.
OCTOBER 2016, REGARDING RECALL 1405S, A TECHNICIAN DID A SELF TEST AND INDICATED NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES WERE PRESENT. THE SELF TEST AND OBSERVATION WERE PERFORMED FOR APPROXIMATELY 18 MINUTES (WHICH IS THE ALLOWABLE LABOR COST FOR RECALL REPAIRS). ALTHOUGH NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES WERE PRESENT, THE TECHNICIAN NOTATED HE 'REPROGRAMMED PSCM AND IC.' AT THE TIME I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR THE RECALL, 1405S, I WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY POWER STEERING ISSUES. FEBRUARY 2018, LOSS OF POWER STEERING, CONSOLE READS 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT.' RETURNED TO FORD DEALERSHIP, INFORMED BY FORD THE OCD CODE WAS DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BECAUSE A PREVIOUS SELF TEST WAS PERFORMED AT BAYSHORE FORD, THE RECALL WOULD NOT APPLY AND INCUR AN OUT OF POCKET COST. HOWEVER, THE PREVIOUS UPDATED PSCM SOFTWARE CHANGES DID NOT CHANGE THE TORQUE SENSOR FAULT STRATEGY. ADDITIONALLY, FORD DID NOT INFORM CONSUMERS OF THE ULTIMATUM : HAVE VEHICLE REPROGRAMMED AND FORFEIT ANY FUTURE RECALL RELATED REPAIR COVERAGE.
TORQUE SENSOR FAILING AFTER BEING REPLACED OR REPROGRAMMED STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP IN PLACE
STEERING POWER ASSIST IS SHORTING OUT, I HAD IT TESTED AT A DEALERSHIP AND CONFIRMS IT , ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE STEERING COLUMN, DOING RESEARCH THIS IS COMMON MALFUNCTION FOR 2008 TO 2011 FORD ESCAPE
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, MY FORD ESCAPE'S STEERING WHEEL FROZE. IT STIFFENED AND WAS UNMOVABLE. I HAD TO WRESTLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET OFF THE ROAD, TRYING TO TURN IT. I FINALLY DID TURN, AFTER A WIDE, WIDE TURN, I WAS ABLE TO PARK IT. THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" WORDS CAME ON. I HAVE NOT MOVED IT SINCE.

TWO DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AS AN ABNORMAL DINGING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (DICK EDWARDS AUTO PLAZA, 1825 GOLDENBELT BLVD, JUNCTION CITY, KS 66441) AND LEFT A VOICE MESSAGE BUT THE DEALER FAILED TO RETURN THE PHONE CALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,000. *TT
BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. ABS AND RED BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER WOULD'VE CRASHED.
CAR WAS DRIVING FINE UNTIL STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO VIBRATE EVERY TIME THE CAR WAS IDLING, CAR HAS UNDER 106000 MILES ON IT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE THAT THE SAME SYMPTOMS MAY BE RELATED TO THE RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT THEY PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN ADVISING THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE SHOCK TOWER RUSTED THROUGH AND CAUSED THE SHOCK TO PUNCTURE THE INTERIOR TRIM OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. IT WAS TAKEN TO MUFFLER MAN G3455 CORUNNA RD FLINT, MI 48532; THEY COULDN'T REPAIR IT. RETURNED IT TO DAVE KNAPP USED CARS 1949 N LAPEER RD LAPEER, MI 48446 PH. 810-667-0001 WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. BECAUSE OF THE 10 YEAR RUST WARRANTY DAVE CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH REFUSED TO DISCUSS IT. HE HAD HIS BODY MAN LOOK AT IT TO NO AVAIL. DAVE CONTACTED IRON MIKES WELDING AND FABRICATING 1535 N DORT HWY, FLINT, MI 48506 (810) 234-2996 AFTER DISCUSSION IT WAS DETERMINED IRREPARABLE. THERE IS STILL 11/2 YEARS LET ON THE CAR LOAN AND AN IRREPARABLE VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE DRIVERS SHOCK TOWER IS DETERIORATING ALSO.
ALREADY HAD THIS RECALL FIXED-# 14S05. RECALL ORIGINALLY "FIXED" IN DECEMBER OF 2014. STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY, RATTLING NOISE. A NEW TORQUE SENSOR WAS INSTALLED AND THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. TODAY, HAVING THE SAME ISSUES- STEERING WHEEL TURNING ON ITS OWN, RATTLING. DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M DRIVING AT A STOP LIGHT, TURNING, ALL THE TIME. HAVE BEEN TOLD SINCE IT WAS ALREADY FIXED(NO IT WASN'T), THEY NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH WILL COST ABOUT 1500 AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL. BUT THEY ALSO SAY, THAT I SHOULD HOLD ON TO MY RECEIPT IN CASE THE RECALL GETS EXTENDED, AND CAN MAYBE GET REIMBURSED. WHAT'S FUNNY, IS THAT THE NEW STEERING COLUMN IS REDESIGNED(INTERESTING) AND OTHER PARTS NEED TO BE CHANGED ALONG WITH IT. SEEMS LIKE FORD KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM THE WHOLE TIME AND JUST TOOK THE CHEAP WAY OUT, AND KNEW THE ORIGINAL RECALLED PARTS WOULD FAIL AGAIN AND THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY SINCE IT WAS ALREADY "FIXED". NOT RIGHT

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED, BUT HAD CLOSED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
RECALL WAS DONE IN 2014 FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES. WE BROUGHT IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS JUST TO UPDATE THE MODULE. AFTER THAT, OUR STEERING WOULD GO OFF AND ON EVERY NOW AND THEN, BUT DIDNT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. ABOUT A MONTH AGO OUR POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNLESS I PAY $120 FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. AFTER LOOKING UP WHAT THE RECALL ACTUALLY WAS, IT WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE POWER STERLING ITSELF. I CALLED FORD COMPANY AND THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE OUR LOCAL FORD ALREADY SUBMITTED THE MODULE UPDATE, THEN IT WAS UP TO US TO FIX THE PROBLEM. LOOKING AT THE RECALL, SEVERAL PEOPLE POSTED THAT FORD DID THE SAME TO THEM AFTER THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. DEALERSHIPS CLAIMING IT WAS JUST A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST VEHICLE AND RECALL ISSUE WE HAVE HAD WITH FORD. THEIR WAY OF HANDLING RECALLS THAT COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN ACCIDENTS, SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. IF SYSTEMS HAVE RECALLS, THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THE RECALLED PART, NOT PUT A BAND AID ON IT TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS AND GET AWAY WITH IT.
MY FORD ESCAPE 2008 MODEL AUTO TRANSMISSION WITH MILEAGE OF 98000 STARTED GIVING TROUBLE TODAY AND SCARY TOO. AFTER TURNING ON THE CAR & ONCE STARTS MOVING, I FELT LIKE SOMETHING WRONG WITH SHIFTING GEARS FROM FIRST TO SECOND (VEHICLE MOVES SMOOTHLY FOR FEW AND AFTER THAT I CAN HEAR THE ACCELERATOR SOUND, AND I SEE THE WRENCH SIGN POPS UP ON THE DASH BOARD SO I HAD TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL UP AND DOWN TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, I DROVE MY ESCAPE HOME AND STOPPED THE CAR AND AGAIN I TURNED ON THAT TIME WRENCH SIGN WAS GONE AND STARTED MOVING THE VEHICLE AND THE SAME THING REPEATED - WRENCH SIGN & THE PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING GEARS.

CAR WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. REAR TAILGATE GLASS WAS OPEN, TAILGATE ITSELF WAS CLOSED. I WAS LOADING GROCERIES INTO THE CAR WHEN THE REAR WINDOW GLASS EXPLODED. I WASN'T IN THE PROCESS OF CLOSING THE GLASS. I DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANYTHING HIT THE WINDOW.
POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING, ALMOST HIT A CAR, MECHANIC SAYS IT NEEDS A NEW STEERING COLUMN, AT LEAST $1000. VERY DANGEROUS, MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS, FORD WON'T HELP
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A REPUTABLE USED CAR DEALERSHIP ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO. ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY POWER STEERENG WENT OUT. I WENT INTO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID MY TORQUE SENSOR WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE(AND 1.4 MILLION OTHERS) IN 2014 BECAUSE OF A TORQUE SENSOR FAILURE AND I SIMPLY NEEDED TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. WHEN I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE REPAIR FOR THAT RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE, BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. I CALLED FORD'S CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, AND GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, THE EXACT SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING AGAIN, BUT FORD ISN'T TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE FOUND DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENING TO OTHER CONSUMERS WHERE FORD WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL. FORD MANUFACTURED A FAULTY AND DANGEROUS PRODUCT AND IS UNWILLING TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000. *TT *TR
REGENERATIVE HYBRID BRAKES DISABLED.. VEHICLE BRAKES IN "FAILSAFE" MODE, WHICH REQUIRES YOU TO SLAM THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR JUST TO SLOW DOWN. RAN THROUGH THREE RED LIGHTS UNWILLINGLY. THE FORD ESCAPE HYBRID HAS MANY REPORTED ISSUES WITH THE ABS AND REGENERATIVE SYSTEM FAILING (A QUOTED $5000 FIX). THESE VEHICLES ARE SO RARE, AND PROBABLY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ARE NO LONGER DRIVEN AND INSTEAD ON THE FORUMS WITH A LAUNDRY LIST OF COMPLAINTS AROUND THIS ISSUE.

THE POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE LIGHT HAS TURNED ON AND TURNING IS DIFFICULT. RIGHT NOW THE CAR IS STILL DRIVABLE BUT NEEDS STRENGTHS TO MAKE YOUR TURNS. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 1ST 2018 I WENT TO START DRIVING MY CAR AND IT IS STEERING POWER ASSIST LIGHT TURNED ON. YOU STILL ABLE TO GET TO WORK I'LL JUST HAVE TO USE A LOT OF STRENGTH FOR STEERING. THE REGEN BREAKS DISABLED LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. THE BREAKS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY, IF AT ALL. NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO STOP ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE BREAKS SOMETIMES LOCK ON AND THE VEHICLE WON'T MOVE AT ALL. UNABLE TO GO MORE THAN 40 MPH. IF YOU ATTEMPT, THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND THE BREAKS SMOKE. I TOOK IT TO FORD FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY INFORMED ME IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO THE THE BEAK SYSTEM AND THE HYBRID SYSTEM BEING INTEGRATED. THE PART BY ITSELF IS $4200 AND THE VEHICLE BLUE BOOKS FOR ABOUT $3000 AT THE MOST. THE VEHICLE WON'T START OR EVEN TURN OVER. THE BATTERY IS GOOD.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to vibrate and become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the torque sensor but the vehicle would erroneously steer to the right. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the entire steering column was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 14V284000 (Steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 78,000.

MY 17 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL. WITHOUT WARNING, THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. HE ENDED UP PARKING (LEAVING) IT ON A SIDE STREET AND WALKING THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. HIS VEHICLE IS NOT A PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL FOR THE STEERING. I HAD TO GO PICK UP HIS VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT HOME WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONING. IT WAS A SCARY ORDEAL FOR MY SON AND I AM THANKFUL HE DIDN'T WRECK.
