THE STEERING WHEEL SPINS VERY FAST IF YOU LET GO OF THE WHEEL. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO CONTROL IT ON THE ROAD. THIS OCCURS FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. IF YOU TRY TO BACK UP, AND TURN THE WHEEL ONE WAY, IT WILL NOT STEER THE CORRECT DIRECTION AND THE STEERING WHEEL SPINS ON IT'S OWN. VERY DANGEROUS. THE REPAIR SHOP HAS REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE IS.
AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES, UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE CALIPERS AND BRAKES PADS NEVER RELEASED FROM THE ROTOR! THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY AND THE BRAKES/ROTORS AND WHEELS TO GET VERY HOT. A SERVICE STATION SAID IT APPEARS THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IS STICKING, NOT ALLOWING THE BRAKES TO COME OFF OF THE ROTOR. I HAVE READ THAT THE FORD FUSION HAS THIS SAME ISSUE AND A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FAMILY FRIEND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND DTC CODE: B2278 (STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR) WAS RETRIEVED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SECOND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO REPROGRAM THE VEHICLE WAS AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT, OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.
I SHUT MY BACK HATCH LIGHTLY BEING IT IS NOT HARD TO SHUT WENT TO WALK AWAY AND MY GLASS EXPLODED. GLASS WAS EVERYWHERE IN THE CAR AND AS FAR AS 3 FEET BEHIND THE CAR. I HAD GLASS IN MY HAIR. I'M JUST GLAD IT HAPPENED AFTER I TURNED AROUND. IT WAS RAINING AND A LITTLE CHILLY BUT NOT COLD.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR. IT WAS BUILT AT THE SAME KANSAS PLANT WHERE THEY WERE RECALLED BUT I CALLED FORD AND LET THEM KNOW AND THEY DENIED ANY RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE BRAKE FLUID WAS FLUSHED, INSPECTED FOR LEAKS, AND REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED TO FIX THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IDLE OR DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF AS THE STOP SAFELY NOW WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER WAITING FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V526000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 191,000.

THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER (BOB MOORE FORD 8948 S I- 35 SERVICE RD, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73149) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000.

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEARNY MESA FORD (7303 CLAIREMONT MESA BLVD, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE FAILURE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THE TORQUE SENSER IN THE STEERING COLUMN, ON THE FORD ESCAPES. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RESET IT. I DRIVE IN FEAR OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN. HE SAID IT WOULD LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN. MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW ON THE RECALL.
"STOP SAFELY NOW". IT DID A COUPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND NOW IT WON'T TURN ON AT ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT HAD INITIALLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE HOSE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE BRAKE HOSE AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE USED CAR DEALER WHERE SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR SO THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AFTER THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR A FEW DAYS, THE CONTACT CALLED THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED. HOLMAN FORD TURNERSVILLE (3641 ROUTE 42 SOUTH, TURNERSVILLE, NJ 08012) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HER FAILURES TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V606000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 15E045000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
ON HOT DAYS THE VEHICLE DISPLAYS THE FOLLOWING ERROR "ABS LIGHT ON REGEN BRAKES DISABLED". THE BRAKING SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION AS INTENDED. IT ALMOST FEELS AS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP AND TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO COME TO A STOP. IN A SITUATION WHERE AN IMMEDIATE STOP WOULD BE NECCESSARY THIS ERROR IS LIKELY TO RESULT IN A VEHICLE COLLISION. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURING ALL OF THIS YEAR (2020) ON DAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 85 DEGREES. THE MOST RECENT BEING ON JULY 25, 2020. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS.
YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED ON I95 IN CONNECTICUT, I APPROACHED STOPPED TRAFFIC AND ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN BY USING THE BRAKES. MY FOOT WENT TO FLOOR WITHOUT ANY VEHICLE BRAKING. I BEGAN TO PUMP THE BRAKES VIGOROUSLY AND WAS ABLE TO ACHIEVE BRAKING WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS VERY MUCH DISCONCERTED ME AS I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME WITH WHAT APPEARED TO BE VERY POORLY FUNCTIONING BRAKES THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY IF I WAS NOT EVER VIGILANT OF TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME THAT I COULD ANTICIPATE NEEDED SLOWING AND STOPPING. I CHECKED MY BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WHEN HOME AND FOUND IT CORRECTLY FILLED AS WELL AS A SURVEY UNDER THE HOOD AND UNDER THE VEHICLE THAT FOUND NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED BY MYSELF AND A LOCAL SHOP. THE VEHICLE NOW SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I CONTEMPLATE MY NEXT COURSE OF ACTION. WEB RESEARCH INDICATES A FAILED HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FOR WHICH A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR SIMILAR YEAR/MODELS, BUT, NOT MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE. MANY OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS HAVE NOTED THIS EXPERIENCE WITH NO FEDERAL RESPONSE TO DATE. PLEASE REVIEW COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS DANGEROUS FAILED COMPONENT AND ACT. THANK YOU.
TRAVELING ON MAIN HIGHWAY WITH MY 3 GRANDCHILDREN WHEN THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON, BRAKES GO ALMOST ALL OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. SHORTLY AFTER, THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS OUR MECHANIC SAID THIS IS SOMETHING THAT ONLY A DEALERSHIP CAN FIX AND IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THERE WAS A RECALL 19S54 ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES 2006-2010 FORD FUSION, MERCURY MILAN, LINCOLN ZEPHYR AND MKZ VEHICLES FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. (THE VALVES WITHIN THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNITS (HCU) MAY REACT WITH BRAKE FLUIDS CONTAINING SPECIFIC CORROSION PREVENTATIVE ADDITIVES. THIS REACTION MAY CAUSE THE VALVES TO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY.) THIS RECALL SHOULD APPLY TO THE ESCAPE HYBRID AS WELL. THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH OWNER MAINTENANCE. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFAULT AND SHOULD BE COVERED AT FORD'S EXPENSE.
MULTIPLE SERVICE LIGHTS TURN ON, ALL GAUGES GO TO ZERO WHILE DRIVING, SEEMINGLY RANDOM. I HAVE HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A NEW CLUSTER. LOOKS LIKE THE SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN 10024328/ FORD TSB 08-3-6. INFORMATION ON THE ISSUE IS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS TIMES WHERE MY CAR WOULD SUDDENLY STALL OR FREEZE UP WHEN MAKING TURNS OR PRESSING THE GAS AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. BY STALLING I MEAN TAKING A SECOND OR TWO TO ACCELERATE THEN JERKING KINDA HARD ONCE I HIT THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN THE CAR WOULD FREEZE UP, THE TRACTION AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR FLASHES AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS COMPLETELY STUCK IN PLACE AND I'D HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT GOING AGAIN. IT DOESNT FREEZE OR STALL ON THE HIGHWAY BUT IT ALWAYS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS.
VEHICLE FIRE. FIRE STARTED IN AREA OF DRIVER'S SIDE TAILLIGHT WHILE VEHICLE WAS IDLING IN A PARKING LOT. SUSPECTED ELECTRICAL SHORT.
VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKS, SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM BOTH SIDES CRACKING, AC CONDENSER LEAKING
THE CAR BROKE DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT A FEW MILES FROM THE HIGHWAY ENTRANCE AND WOULD NOT RUN. BATTERY LIGHT, WRENCH LIGHT AND STOP SAFELY CAME ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER, DIAGNOSED WITH P0A7A AND P0A78 CODES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAR NEEDED A NEW OR REBUILT TRANSMISSION, WHICH WOULD HAVE COST MORE THAN THE CARS TRADE IN VALUE IF IF GOOD RUNNING CONDITION.
FIRST OF ALL THE SINGLE DATE BELOW DOES NOT DOCUMENT THE NUMBER OF TIMES THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED. WHEN I'M MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEED THE STEERING LOCKS UP AND HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HAVE AN ACCIDENT. IF I PULL DOWN HARD ON THE WHEEL IT BREAKS LOOSE AND RETURNS TO NORMAL STEERING. I'VE GONE ON YOUTUBE AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME DEFECT AMD AS ME THEY SAY THAT THAT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL THAT IS DOCUMENTED BELOW. I FOUND MY FORD ESCAPE HYBRID 2008. ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. IT SHOT DOWN AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION- AFTER STARTING TORQUE GROWLS, WHEN I PUT IT IN ANY GEAR IT HESITATES THEN LURCHES SO MUCH THE TIRES SQUEAL, & SOUNDS,FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IN THE REAR OF SUV IS GOING TO FALL APART . I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. SOMETIMES THE WHEEL LOCKS WHEN I'M DRIVING , ALSO THE WHEEL SHAKES LIKE I'M ON A ROLLERCOASTER . I CAN'T DRIVE OVER 20 MPH BECAUSE THE WHEEL STARTS TO SHAKE EVEN MORE
SUDDENLY THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILS CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP PROPERLY.
WHILE DRIVING THE ABS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK BRAKES TOOK TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE AND MODULE THAT WAS GOING OUT. THEY WAITED ME A PRICE OF 2400 DOLLARS TO GET A NEW MODULE AND 1200 TO INSTALL. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE IT HOME THE TWO LIGHTS CAME ON AND ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT. I CALLED A WEAKER AND HAD IT DROPPED OFF AT MY HOUSE.
BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY SOFT, HAS A VERY LONG AMOUNT OF TRAVEL TO ENGAGE BRAKES AND IS SOFT WHEN BEING DEPRESSED. TOOK TO EARNHARDT FORD IN CHANDLER, AZ, AND THEY DID A BRAKE FLUID FLUSH AND BLEED TO ENSURE NO AIR WAS IN THE LINES, THEY ADVISED THE BRAKE BOOSTER, AND MASTER CYLINDER HAD ACTUALLY BEEN REPLACED ALREADY, AND RECENTLY ACCORDING TO THEIR INFORMATION, WE AGREED TO THE DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE, AND THE DIAGNOSIS CAME BACK THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE HAS FAILED, THE SERVICE TECH ADVISED US HE BELIEVES THERE IS A PENDING RECALL/INVESTIGATION RELATING TO THIS ISSUE DURING OUR VISIT WHICH IS WHAT LED US TO MAKE THIS REPORT. VEHICLE IS ONLY AT 88,000 MILES, AND HAS NO OTHER EXISTING ISSUES. ACCORDING TO PAPERWORK, THEY REFILLED THE SYSTEM WITH DOT3 BRAKE FLUID DURING THE BLEED, CONTROL MODULE WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME SO REPLACEMENT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MILES, WENT TO MOVE IT AND THE STEERING WHEEL JUST WENT ROUND AND ROUND WITHOUT THE TIRES MOVING.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.

PEOPLE HAVE FAMILIES IN CARS AND FOR US TO BE IN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE BREAK FAKING ON US SHOULD BE A PRIORITY FOR FORD
SEVERAL FRIGHTENING INCIDENTS TOOK PLACE WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IN WHICH THE STEERING GAVE OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND PAID FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT WENT OUT THE THIRD TIME AND I REFUSED TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SAFE. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED IT. THE FACT THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE ( IT HAPPENED TO ME) IS QUITE UNSATISFACTORY. I WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT AND IT WORKED. HOWEVER THE FINAL STRAW CAME RECENTLY AND I WAS NEARLY HIT BY A SCHOOL BUS. I HAD JUST LEFT THE LAUNDROMAT I WAS GOING TO RUN GRAB ME A BITE TO EAT WHILE WAITING ON MY CLOTHES AND AS I PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE,"POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT POPPED UP ON MY DASH. SO I THOUGHT MY POWER STEERING WAS LOW. THERE WAS A AUTO ZONE ON THE WAY TO THE RESTAURANT SO AS I WENT TO TURN INTO AUTO ZONE I HEAD A LOUD POP AND THEN I COULDN'T TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AND 2 CARS ALMOST HIT ME COMING IN FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE.

IN MARCH 2008 MY BRAKES WENT 2 THE FLOOR THEN I PUMPED IT UP. I TOOK IT TO LARSON FORD ON 4/26/08 ANS THEY SAID IT WAS THE CALIPERS. HAD THE WORK DONE AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY. I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN AND THEY SAID I CANT FIND ANYTHING AND TO DRIVE IT. ON DEC 31 THE BREAKS FAILED COMPLETELY. I LIMPED IT BACK TO THEM AND THEY DECIDED TO TAKE THE DAY OFF. LEFT IT THERE A FEW WEEKS AGAIN THEY SAID THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING. I CALLED FORD FOR HELP AND THEY DID NOTHING ALSO. THEY WANT US TO DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLES. I AM NOW TAKING IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER TO DO THE RECALL FLUSH OF DOT4 AND INSPECT THE ABS VALVES THAT THEY DID ON THE CARS WITH THE RECALLS. IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE NHTSA IS NOT DO ANYTHING. NOT EVEN ASK SOMEONE IF THEY CAN TAKE THERE VEHICLE TO LOOKS AT IT. IF I GET THE SAME RESULT MY NEXT STEP WILL BE TO CONTACT CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF THE LACK OF ANY ACTION BY THE NHTSA .

THE CAR WAS TAKEN OUT OF LONG TERM STORAGE 18 MONTHS AGO AND ALL THE RECALLS DONE. I HAVE TWO SAFETY ISSUES. FIRST OF ALL TWICE, I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL WHILE DRIVING ON THE 80 MPH HIGHWAY. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAVE TO USE MY MIGHT TO CONTROL THE STEERING MANUALLY WHICH CATCHES YOU OFF GUARD AND MAKES THE STEERING WHEEL UNEXPECTEDLY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE BOZEMAN FORD DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE. SECOND ISSUE THAT JUST OCCURRED AND NOW GETTING WORSE EACH TIME I DRIVE IS THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN LOUDLY SHAKING. THIS IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE AND BEGAN TO OCCUR WHENEVER I WAS STOPPED. NOW IT SEEMS TO BEGIN TO SHAKE WHILE I'M STARTING TO DRIVE AGAIN AFTER BRAKING TO A STOP AS WELL. THE LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING REQUIRED HIGHER STEERING EFFORT AT LOWER SPEEDS, WHICH MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALER TO RUN SOME DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT NEEDS A NEW STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR. THERE WAS A RECALL FROM FORD (14S05) FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE THAT IMPACTED MORE THAN 1 MILLION VEHICLES IN NORTH AMERICA. I AM TOLD MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL BUT IF IT IS THE SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL.

THE GAS PEDAL STICKS AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN IT FINALLY DOES ACCELERATE IT IS VERY QUICKLY WHICH CAN SEND YOU INTO TRAFFIC. THIS CAN HAPPEN ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. IT CAN HAPPEN FROM A COMPLETE STOP AT AN INTERSECTION, IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN YOU GO AGAIN TO PRESS THE GAS, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. THE GAS PEDAL WILL THEN SUDDENLY PRESS DOWN VERY QUICKLY
DRIVING TO WORK I NOTICED A CLICKING NOISE IF I LET GO OF STEERING WHEEL WHICH LASTED ABOUT A WEEK THEN ON MY WAY TO WORK AGAIN IT WOULDNT GO OVER 40 MPH AND WONT COME OUT OF GEAR. ON THE WAY HOME IT WOULDNT GO OVER 30MPH AND STILL WONT COME OUT OF GEAR.
