WHEN RUNNING THE CAR (STATIONARY, AND THEN MOVING), ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, AND IT SAID "REGEN BRAKES DISABLED". ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE CAR, THE BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK MOST OF THE TIME, BUT WERE MORE DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS SOMETIMES. AFTER TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO (TRI-STATE FORD 1503 PENNSYLVANIA AVE, EAST LIVERPOOL, OH 43920 (330) 386-6120) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSE THAT THE STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED OT BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:14V284000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 210,000.
I WAS DRIVING TRYING TU TURN INTO INTERSECTION AND MY STEERING WHEEL STOPPED, DON'T LET ME CONTROL NO MORE .. ALMOST CRASHED .. THEN AND MESSAGE POP UP ON MY DASHBOARD SAYS ' POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' HAVE TO TAKE TO THE SHOP , BUT WAS SO SCARED JUST IMAGINE IF WHERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OMG
2008 ESCAPE XLT HAS ELECTRONIC ASSISTED STEERING - NOT HYDRAULIC FLUID. THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND NOW ACTS AS MANUAL STEERING WHICH NEEDS MORE MUSCLE POWER. IT IS DOABLE BUT MORE DIFFICULT WHEN PARKING. MAYBE A BAD EAS SENSOR AS OTHERS REPORT.
RECALLED OTHER MODELS IDENTICAL TO MINE FOR THE EXACT ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING; HOWEVER, DID NOT RECALL MINE FOR SOME REASON. CAR HAS 99.7K MILES I AM ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR SELECT CARS WHILE OTHERS HAVE BEEN CORRECTED. THE DEALERSHIP MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO WAS TOO INCOMPETENT TO REPAIR THE ISSUE.(CACTUS JACKS)

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FRIEND'S HOME WHERE UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LINKED TO A TRANSMISSION CABLE FAILURE. THE CONTACT THEN LINKED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V606000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
FORD PREVIOUSLY ISSUED RECALL 14S05 FOR ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM ISSUE WITH A FIRST STEP "SOFTWARE UPDATE" FOR THE PSCM. MY DEALER PERFORMED THIS UPDATE EVEN THOUGH NO ERROR CODES WERE SHOWING. NOW THE TORQUE SENSOR IS FAILING AND FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT/ASSIST WITH THE ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS RECALL AND FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEGE. JUST A GENERIC, "TAKE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR AND KEEP RECEIPTS IN CASE RECALL HAPPENS AGAIN.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED, JUST ONE DAY STOPPED WORKING AS A KNOWN ISSUE
ON 1/9/20 THE CAR HAD ITS LAST DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION OF SO MANY SENSE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP 10/18. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A BEACH PARKING LOT. AS MY SON WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT HE TURNED CAR ON PUT CAR IN DRIVE SLIGHTLY STEPPED ON GAS TO BEGIN PULLING OUT AND THE CAR SURGED AND ACCELERATED FULL SPEED BY ITSELF. HE LOST ALL STEERING AND HAD NO BREAKS. HE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WENT FULL SPEED INTO A PARKED CAR ABOUT 15 FT AWAY! BOTH CARS WERE TOTALED. ALL 3 PEOPLE INVOLVED WERE INJURED. THERE WAS 2 PEOPLE IN PARKED CAR AND MY SON WHO WAS BURROWING MY CAR. PREVIOUS TO THIS ACCIDENT THE ESCAPE HAS HAD SO MANY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTIONS. SOME BEING TOTAL STEERING LOSS WHILE I WAS DRIVING 45MPH .CAR WAS TOWED AND FIXED COVERED BY FACTORY RECALL. ANOTHER SHOCK SNAPPED AND PUNCTURED MY FUEL TANK. MY MECHANIC SAID I DODGED DEATH BY DRIVING . HE SAID CAR WAS A TICKING BOMB. IVE REPLACED 2 ABS SENSORS AT DIFFERENT TIMES BECAUSE THEY FAILED AND CAUSED BREAK PEDEL TO VIBRATE AND MADE IT VERY HARD TO STOP. ANOTHER WHEEL BEARING AND WHEEL COMPARTMENT DUE TO TOTAL RUST AND CORROSION OF UNDER BODY. ALL THESE THINGS HAPPENED IN ONLY A LITTLE OVER A YEAR SENSE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE FROM MID CAPE MOTERS FOR 6000$ IN OCTOBER. *LN *TR *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO ADVISED THAT THAT SEVERAL CODES WAS RECEIVED WHEN THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED CODE 1491 AND CODE U2023. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE BRAKE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN 2014 UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 8:50 PM PST WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY: 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY LEAVE THE ROAD, BUT STEERING THE VEHICLE IS VERY DIFFICULT.
THE STEERING WILL LOCK UP WHEN MAKING A TURN AT LOW SPEED. IF I PULL DOWN HARD ON THE STEERING WHEEL IT WILL BREAK LOSE, BUT THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
STEERING WHEEL HAD BEEN INTERMITTENTLY VIBRATING FOR A FEW WEEKS, THEN MESSAGE 'STEERING POWER ASSIST FAILURE' MESSAGE APPEARED WHEN CAR STARTED AFTER BEING PARKED ALL DAY. POWER STEERING IS GONE. THIS VEHICLE HAS SUPPOSEDLY HAD THIS REPAIRED AS PART OF THE 2014 RECALL.

POWER STEERING FAILURE. THIS WAS A RECALL IN 2014, PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE PCSM RE-PROGRAMMED AND THIS WAS CONSIDERED TAKING CARE OF THE RECALL. THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND TORQUE SENSOR WERE THE ISSUE. IT HAS FAILED AND FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS $2200 REPAIR.

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING SENSORS. STEERING TO MAKE AN A LOT OF CLICKING NOISE AND VIBRATIONS. LOOKING AT YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND I'VE SEEN A COUPLE WHERE THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE PAID BACK BECAUSE OF A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE RACK AND PINION STEERING. LOOKS LIKE THE AVERAGE PRICE JUST FOR THE PART IS ABOUT 750 AND WITH LABOR IT'S ABOUT 1500. WHY ISN'T THIS RE-CALLED MY STEERING WHEEL KEEPS LOCKING UP AND DOING CRAZY STUFF BUT THERE'S NO RECALL THAT I CAN FINE BUT WHY ARE PEOPLE TELLING ME THAT THEY GOT MONEY BACK? SEEMS TO BE A BIG ISSUE WITH THE FRONT END OF THESE CARS ALSO BUT I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THIS POWER STEERING NOT WORKING VERY WELL
THE POWER STEERING IS NO LONGER WORKING. THE STEERING TORQUE ANGLE SENSOR WENT OUT UNEXPECTEDLY AND I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THESE VEHICLES. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY PARKED AND HAD JUST TURNED ON MY VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED BUT I'M SURE OTHERS HAVE NOT BEEN SO LUCKY AS I WAS READING THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE STEERING GO IN AND OUT AS THE PART IS BREAKING.
WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEEDS THE STEERING LOCKS UP. WHEN I FORCE IT, IT WILL BREAK LOOSE BUT THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO COME CLOSE TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WENT TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL BUT PEDAL DOESN'T DEPRESS ALL THE WAY DOWN, AS IF THERE WAS A BLOCK OF WOOD OR SOMETHING PREVENTING IT. "REGEN BRAKE DISABLED" LIGHT WOULD APPEAR ON DASH. BRAKING POWER ADVERSELY AFFECTED DURING THESE EPISODES. CAUSING TO PRESS DOWN ON BRAKE VERY HARD JUST TO STOP. ON SOME OCCASIONS THE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AT PRESSING OF BREAK WOULD CAUSE PEDAL TO DEPRESS A LITTLE MORE AND ON SOME TIMES NON DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL SENSATION WOULD PERSIST, WITH ADVERSE BRAKE AFFECT.... SOMETIMES EXPERIENCING A HYPERSENSITIVITY TO PRESSING ON BRAKE WITH A CHOPPY BRAKING IMPACT AND SOMETIMES EXPERIENCING A VERY LIMITED BRAKING EFFECT, CAUSING ONE TO ALMOST HAVE TO "STAND UP" ON THE BREAK IN ORDER TO PREVENT HITTING WHOMEVER MIGHT BE IN FRONT. I RECALL STARTING TO EXPERIENCE THIS INITIALLY ABOUT A YEAR AGO - ROUGHLY APR 2018 EST.. BETWEEN THEN AND RECENTLY SOMETIMES BRAKING WOULD BE MORE PROBLEMSOME THEN OTHER TIMES THE EXPERIENCES SEEM TO WAX AND WAIN BUT ABOUT MID DECEMBER 2019 AFTER PARKING AT WORK IN THE MORNING AND RETURNING TO THE CAR TO GO BACK HOME. IT APPEARED THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE I ENGAGED WAS STUCK. WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON I GOT THE SAME ILLUMINATED REGENS BRAKE DISABLED SIGNAL ON THE DASH AND IT APPEARED I COULDN'T GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK. I HAD TO LEAVE VEHICLE AT WORK. I WAS AWAY FROM WORK A WEEK. UPON RETURN THE CAR STARTED WITHOUT THE REGEN BRAKE DISABLED SIGNAL BUT WHEN I RELEASE EMERGENCY BRAKE & SHIFTED CAR INTO REVERSE, REGENS BRAKE DISABLE CAME ON AGAIN, I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE HOWEVER AND DID, SLOW AND GUARDED BUT DID. NOW A NEW SYMPTOM ENGAGED - I DROVE TO A STOP SIGN AND WHEN BRAKING AT THE LIGHT AND PULLING OFF, BRAKES FELT STILL ENGAGED SOMEWHAT AND PROGRESSIVELY DRIVING FELT THIS WAY. I DROVE A BIT MORE BUT SHORTLY HAD TO PULL OVER AND CALL A TOW TRUCK. WAS TOLD BY MECHS MASTER CYLINDER NDS REPLACG
WHILE DRIVING IT WAS HARD TO PUSH ON BRAKES AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS IT VEHICLE WOULD STOP. SO I TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND HE SAID MY BRAKES WENT W CALIBER OR WHEEL BEARING. A FEW WEEKS LATER SAME THING HAPPEN ALL NEEDED REPLACED NOW AGAIN ITS HAPPENED. THIS IS TO MUCH SOMETHING HAS TO BE WRONG. IT WOULD PULL BACK AND BURN THE BRAKES UP. I MEAN IT WAS HARD TO GET IT TWO 25 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS PULLING BACK, HARD TO GO FORWARD THEN HARD TO PUSH ON BRAKES THEN THE BRAKES STATED SMOKING.
RANDOMLY THE CAR WILL 'STALL' TO TO SPEAK EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC AND NOT A 5-SPEED. WHEN I SAY STALL I AM REFERRING TO WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, RED LIGHT, YIELDING TO TURN, ETC - WHEN I GO TO HIT THE GAS THE RPM'S REV UP HIGH AND THE CAR SPEED IS VERY LOW AND AT A ROLLING SPEED - EVEN THOUGH I PUSH DOWN ALL OF THE WAY IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO SPEED UP TO AVOID BEING STRUCK MY OTHER VEHICLES WHEN TURNING. THE CAR WILL THEN REGAIN ALL SPEED AT ONCE - INSTEAD OF GRADUALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE I AM TRYING TO MERGE ONTO AN ONCOMING INTERSTATE RAMP OR AM AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. I HAVE MISSED BEING HIT THUS FAR BUT HAVE HAD A FEW CLOSE CALLS. I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS AND AUTO MECHANIC SHOPS THAT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR. THEY HAVE READ THE CHECK ENGINE CODE AND HAVE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING RACK FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING FAILED, MAKING THE VEHICLE VERY HARD TO STEER, BOTH FROM STATIONARY AND WHILE IN MOTION.
CAME OUT OF PET SMART STARTED MY CAR WENT TO BACK UP AND HAD NO POWER STREEING. CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND NO POWER STREEING PUMP OR NO BELT. CALLED MY MECHANIC, HAD TO DRIVE 3.5 MILES WITH NO POWER STREEING, DIAGNOSE THE SENSOR. MECHANIC PUT THE SENSOR AND THE STREEING TURN TO THE RIGHT. MEANING THE STREEING NEEDS TO BE CHANGE AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIND THAT OUT IS TO PERFORMED THE STEPS. THAT SENIOR COST $219.00 WHICH IS USELESS IF IT TURNS TO THE RIGHT. LUCKILY THE MECHANIC SAID GET ONE FROM THE SALVAGE YARD. THAT COST WAS $299.00 FOR THE COMPLETE STEERING. THE CHARGE FOR THE LABOR WAS $450.00. THIS SHOULD OF BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING SENSOR SO I HOPE THIS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR POWER STREERING. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE THROUGH A CITY AT AROUND 30 MPH. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A TURN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I HAD TO GIVE GREAT EFFORT TO AVOID HITTING A PARKED CAR. THIS HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. EVEN AFTER THE EVENT, THE STEERING IS STILL UN-ASSISTED WITH NO WARNINGS INDICATING THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG.

TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY REFUSE TO HONOR RECALL AND SAY MY CAR IS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT HAS EXACTLY THE RECALL PROBLEM. COST TO FIX IS OVER $2,500, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS SINCE THIS PROBABLY EXCEED THE VALUE OF THE CAR. WHY DO THEY NOT HONOR THE RECALL ON MY CAR. PLEASE ADVISE.
MY VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST. IT HAD MOMENTARILY GONE OUT BEFORE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, BUT RESUMED FUNCTION. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING FAILURE REMEDIED. THE DEALER QUOTED A PARTS COST OF $1,800, WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE THE COST FOR LABOR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED UNDER THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
WHEEL MECHANICS FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION. NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT WHEEL CONTROL BARS AND RIGHT FRONT STABILIZER BAR. MECHANIC SAID UNSAFE TO DRIVE EVEN A 100 MILES. MECHANIC ALSO SAID THIS RESULTED FROM A DESIGN FLAW OF CERTAIN FORD MODELS THAT AFFECTED THE FORD XLSS OF 2008 AND PERHAPS OTHER LATE 2008 OR 2009 MODELS.
WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, IT WAS OVER 12 YEARS OLD AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 137K MILES. I EXPERIENCED RECURRING BRAKE PROBLEMS ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR: ON SOME DAYS, WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE ABS FAILURE LIGHT AND THE RED BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED AND THE "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR. SOMETIMES RESTARTING THE CAR CLEARED THE ERRORS, BUT MOST OF THE TIME THEY WOULD REMAIN THE ENTIRE DAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FAILURES OFTEN CLEARED UP. WHILE THESE FAILURE MODES WERE ACTIVE, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD SOME PRESSURE BEHIND IT, BUT BRAKING TOOK LONGER AND STRONG BRAKING LED TO WHEELS LOCKING UP. (LIKE IN THE DAYS BEFORE ABS) OVER TIME, THE FAILURE MODES PERSISTED LONGER TO THE POINT WHERE OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS, THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERIOD OF A HALF-HOUR WHERE THE CAR DID NOT EXHIBIT THE FAILURE CONDITION. IN ADDITION, THE "REGEN BRAKES DISABLED" MESSAGE ALSO STARTED APPEARING, BUT THAT MESSAGE MAY BE DECEPTIVE BECAUSE THE BATTERY STATUS GAUGE SHOWS A STRONG CHARGE INDICATION WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. IN ALL CASES, THE FAILURE MODES APPEARED IMMEDIATELY ON STARTUP AND PERSISTED WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING. IN THE SHOP, THESE DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE REPORTED: C1313, C1478, C1480, C1526. THE MECHANIC INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER BECAUSE HE WAS NOT CONVINCED THAT REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER (AN EXPENSE EXCEEDING $2000) WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE STEERING MODULE WAS THEN DIAGNOSED AS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE ABS SYSTEM FAILS WHEN ABS TONE RING CRACKS/BREAKS DUE TO RUST DEVELOPING ON THE AXLE HOUSING WHERE THE RING IS PRESSED ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE DURING 4 YEARS, BOTH WITH THE FRONT/LEFT RING/AXLE.

BRAKES GO TO THE FLOOR AND I ALMOST HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. DROVE IT BACK HOME, AND SCANNED IT, ABS CODES ARE LEADING TO THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. AFTER RESEARCH, IT'S A PRICEY REPAIR. I JUST CANT BELIEVE FORD HAS NOT STEPPED UP, RECALLED AND FIXED THE ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT AND MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. IT THEN JUST STOPPED AND WOULDN'T SHIFT. THE ENGINE WOULD REV REALLY HIGH, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WHICH MADE IT UNSAFE. I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON, IT STARTED TO SHIFT REALLY SLOW WHICH I BELIEVE WAS THE LIMP MODE. IT WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, THE MECHANIC STATED IT WAS A VACUUM LINK AND REPLACED THE PART. I WENT BACK TO AMP REPAIR SHOP IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, AS I WAS DRIVING HOME, IT DID THE SAME THING WITH THE ENGINE REVVING HIGH AND THE TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING IN THE MIDDLE OF GRATIOT AVE, A MAIN STREET IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP. I HAD IT TOWED TO USA TRANSMISSION IN MADUSON HEIGHTS, MI. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED AND TOLD ME IT WAS IN FACT THE CD4E TRANSMISSION AND STATED THEY REBUILT A LOT OF THESE. HE ALSO SAID THE INTERNAL PARTS WERE WORN OUT BECAUSE THERE WERE A LOT OF METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANNY PAN. HE STATED THE COST TO REBUILD MY TRANSMISSION WILL BE $3075. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS TRANSMISSION HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. MY FORD ESCAPE HAS ONLY 120,000 MILES ON IT. IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER. I WANT FORD TO ADMIT THAT THE CD4E TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND I WOULD LIKE FOR THEM TO PAY %100 OF THE REPAIRS. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING AND MADE IT UNSAFE, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AS WELL AS OTHERS..
SUSPENSION AXLE TRANSMISSION FRONT END WHILE IN MOTION LOUD CLANK METAL SOUND. TOOK TO SHOP AND WAS TOLD DRIVE IT UNTIL IT DIES. TOO EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR ENTIREREPAIR OF FROM AXEL SUSPENSION AND TRANSMISSION. I STILL HAVE 15 MONTHS ON MY LOAN. NO EXCESSIVE DRIVING AND NO HARD USE.
JUST DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN LOUD METAL NOISE. THEN INTERMITTENT METAL SCRAPING SOUND. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT'S AN AXEL AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IT WILL COST MORE TO REPAIR THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. I STILL OWE 2 YEARS OF PAYMENTS. TERRIBLE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. ON A CITY STREET COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH. NO ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING JUST DRIVING SLOW COMING TO A STOP.
ABS LIGHT CAME ON OVER A YEAR AGO. SINCE THEN I'VE HAD IT SERVICED 3 TIMES AND THE BRAKES REPLACED. NOW IT'S IN FOR INSPECTION AND CAN'T PASS. MY EXPERIENCE AND MECHANIC EXPERIENCES ROUTINE MOMENTS WHEN THE BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE EVEN WHEN THE PEDAL IS FLOORED. THEY'VE BLED THE BRAKES AND NOW ARE TRYING TO EXPLORE OTHER POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS. RECEIVED RECALL LETTER, TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE SAFETY RECALL. THE FORD DEALER, SERVICE DEPT. SAID THAT THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL AND EVERYTHING IS GOOD TO GO. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR LAST WEEK AND WHILE DRIVING IT THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. 10/02/2019 TODAY WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE RECALL WAS DONE, AT FIRST THEY SAID IT WASN'T DONE AND WHEN WE PRODUCED OUR SERVICE SHEET, AND THEN THEY TRIED TO BACK TRACKED AND SAID OH YES WE DID, BUT WE DIDN'T REPLACE THE MODULE BECAUSE IT DIDN'T HAVE THE 'CODES'. THEY REFUSED TO ATTEND TO OUR CONCERN AND SAID THEY WERE NOT GOING TO LOOK AT IT OR PERFORM THE RECALL BECAUSE IT'S BEYOND THE TIME FRAME. MY ISSUE IS THEY DID NOT DO THE RECALL THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSE TO PER RECALL DATES, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT AT THE TIME AND WAS TRYING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY.SHE WAS REALLY SHAKEN UP BY IT, THANK GOD SHE WAS NOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T MAKE THE TURN WITH EXTREME USE OF HER ARMS. VERY UNSAFE IN TRAFFIC OR, IN THE CASE THAT IT HAPPENS IN A HIGH-SPEED SITUATION, COULD BE DEADLY. CONFIRMED HCU AND ABS SYSTEM. THE FACT THAT THIS HAS SO MANY COMPLAINTS WITH DIFFERENT YEARS AND MODELS OF HYBRID VEHICLES WITH NO RESOLUTION IS UNACCEPTABLE.

BRAKE PEDDLE GOES TO THE FLOOR SOMETIMES AFTER A HARD BRAKING EVENT. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDDLE A FEW TIMES, THEY COME BACK. THEY SOMETIMES GO OUT WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD ALSO.AGAIN THEY COME BACK AFTER SOME VIGOROUS PUMPING OF THE PEDDLE. FLUID LEVEL IS GOOD. I HAVEN'T WRECKED IT YET, BUT I CAN FOR SEE A PASSABLE PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE.
