VEHICLE STUCK IN THE INTERSECTION WAITING FOR A RED LIGHT. ENGINE LIGHT KICKED ON. ERROR CODE P2111, THROTTLE STUCK. WOULD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IF ON HIGHWAY. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY AND HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE SO WHY HASN'T FORD DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT? *TR
MY WIFE OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED NEW FROM A DEALER AND THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE I QUESTION IF THERE WASN?T SOME TYPE OF FLAW IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OR AT THE VERY LEAST, SOME TYPE FAILURE IN THE QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS. WITHIN WEEKS OF PURCHASING THIS FORD ESCAPE WE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL LEAK AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. AFTER 2 OR 3 TRIPS TO THE DEALER, THE OIL LEAK WAS FIXED BUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES (2 OVERHAULS AND THEN REPLACEMENT) CONTINUED FOR YEARS. THANKFULLY, FORD COVERED AND THE DEALER COVERED 2/3 OF THE COST OF THE SECOND TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL AND ALMOST ALL OF THE COST FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. ALL OF THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED AT THE FORD DEALER SHIP IN METER GEORGIA. NICE FOLKS, WE HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THE DEALERSHIP. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AGO, DUE TO LOW ENGINE POWER AND USING OIL, WE HAD THE VEHICLE WORKED ON AT A LOCAL SHOP. THAT TOTAL COST FOR REPAIR WAS 1600 DOLLARS. LAST WEEK DUE TO A MASSIVE OIL LEAK WE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED IN A LOCAL SHOP. THE FORD ESCAPE APPEARS TO HAVE A CRACKED TIMING BELT COVER. HAVING NEVER HEARD OF A VEHICLE HAVING A CRACKED TIMING BELT COVER, I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH; A CURSORY INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS OF 2009 FORD ESCAPES WITH CRACKED TIMING BELT COVERS. FOR OUR VEHICLE THIS WILL MAKE FIVE MAJOR REPAIRS AND NUMEROUS MINOR ISSUES IN A VEHICLE NOT 4 YEARS OLD!! THERE HAS TO BE SOME MANUFACTURING PROCESS WITH THESE VEHICLES. ON AUG 14, 2013, I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON FLAT LAND, WHEN I LOST ACCELERATION POWER, I PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT PLACED IT IN PARK WHERE IT RAN VERY ROUGH, THE WRENCH INDICATOR APPEARED, THEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND CRANKED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES LATER IN MY TRIP THE SAME SITUATION HAPPENED, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH AND A SLIGHT INCLINE. APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES LATER IN MY TRIP, WHILE AT A SLIGHT DECLINE, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I THEN TOOK MY ESCAPE TO THE SHOP. THEY HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS DRIVING IT ABOUT 25 MILES AND THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I PICKED UP MY ESCAPE FRIDAY AUGUST 16, 2013, NIGHT (AFTER THE SHOP CLOSED) DIDN'T MAKE IT 3 MILES FROM THE SHOP, WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH, I LOST ACCELERATION POWER, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, I PULLED OVER PUT IT IN PARK AND AGAIN VERY ROUGH IDLE, TURNED IT OFF WAITED A FEW SECONDS, CRANKED IT BACK UP AND IT DROVE FINE WITH NO ISSUE UNTIL THIS MORNING AUGUST 23, 2013, WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A SLIGHT INCLINE IN TRAFFIC, I LOST ACCELERATION POWER, THE WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED, I PULLED INTO THE CENTER GORE PUT IT IN PARK - WHILE IN PARK IT RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH, SPUTTERING AND SPITTING, TURNED IT OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND CRANKED IT UP AND CAME ON INTO WORK WITH NO ISSUES. *TR
WHILE ENTERING A MAIN HIGHWAY FROM AN EXIT, DURING ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE BEGAN "SPLUTTERING" AND STALLED. CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED SUCCESSFULLY. AGAIN, LEAVING A PARKING LOT ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY PULLING OUT OF MEDIAN BEGIN "SPLUTTERING" AND STALLED. CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED SUCCESSFULLY. AGAIN, STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND BEGAN ACCELERATING, CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. CAR WAS RESTARTED AND TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION. FOUND TO NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. UPON RESEARCH, FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A FREQUENT COMPLAINT. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RESULT IN FATALITIES. *TR
I WAS MERGING OFF OF AN EXIT RAMP. I SLOWED DOWN SO I CAN ENTER TRAFFIC, AND THEN WHEN I ACCELERATED, THE CAR HESITATED/LAGGED BEFORE SURGING ME FORWARD. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS OFTEN AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. SOMETIMES IT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I'M COMPLETELY STOPPED AND THEN ACCELERATE, OR GOING UP A HILL. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND WAS LUCKILY ON A FRONTAGE ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY MY 2009 ESCAPE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN THE HILL AND TURN OFF ONTO A SIDE ROAD. THE WRENCH SYMBOL LIT UP AND MY CAR SPUTTERED AND SHOOK. I SAID A PRAYER, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. I DROVE IT ABOUT A MILE DOWN SIDE STREETS TO TRY AND GET IT TO MY MECHANIC, BUT IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SAID ANOTHER PRAYER, STARTED THE CAR, TURNED OFF THE A/C AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO MY MECHANIC W/OUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THEY SAID THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS AND SINCE THE PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE, THEY DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE THE PART AND NOT HAVE THAT FIX THE ISSUE, SO I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK ($75) AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP. I DIDN'T DARE TRY TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FEAR THAT IT WOULD DIE ON THE WAY THERE AND SINCE THE DEALERSHIP IS LOCATED OFF OF HIGHWAY 75 IN MCKINNEY, I COULDN'T RISK IT DYING ON SUCH A BUSY HIGHWAY W/ MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID IT'S AN ISSUE W/ THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. MY CAR ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 58,000 MILES ON IT. AS A SINGLE DIVORCED MOM WHO IS STRUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET, IT MAKES ME VERY UPSET THAT I HAVE TO SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY ($674) ON FIXING SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY AN ONGOING ISSUE W/ THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO NOT HAVE A RELIABLE VEHICLE WHEN THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO RELY ON LUCK AND HAVE TO WORRY AND STRESS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR THAT IT WILL DIE ON ME. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND GET THIS ISSUE FIXED AS PART OF A RECALL B/C IT IS OBVIOUSLY UNSAFE AND LOTS OF FORD ESCAPE OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. *TR
ENGINE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING, BEGAN TO SPUTTER WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALER. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS "NEEDING THROTTLE BODY," WHICH CONTROLS AIR FLOW TO ENGINE AND WAS "STUCK IN EITHER THE OPEN OR CLOSED POSITION." I WAS ADVISED THAT THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED, AND REPAIRS COULD TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS.
VCT SOLENOIDS AND CAM SENSORS ARE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE STALLS RANDOMLY, ENGINE LAGS AND EXIBITS POOR FUEL MPG. THE PROBLEM OCCURED JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND UPON RESEARCH; I HAVE DISCOVERED THIS ISSUE IS VERY VAST WITH 2009-2011 FORD ESCAPES, MERCURY MARINERS, 2010-2011 FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.0L ENGINE AND BUILT ON OR BEFORE 3-1-2011. MY 2009 FORD ESCAPE AND MANY OTHERS VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AT NO COST OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM AN OUTING, AT 55 MPH, THE THROTTLE BODY QUIT, CAUSING A LOSS OF SPEED. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AN UN-NECESSARY LENGTH OF TIME FOR THE REPAIR, DUE TO THE PART BEING ON BACK ORDER....UPDATED 11-06-13 *BF
MY 2009 FORD ESCAPE XLT (THIS IS MY THIRD ESCAPE, AND THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EVER CAUSED ME ANY PROBLEM) HAS NEVER ACCELERATED AS IT SHOULD, FROM THE DAY I DROVE IT NEW OFF OF THE LOT. IT HAS ALWAYS HESITATED, LURCHED, LUNGED, JERKED; MOST FREQUENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP OR A ROLLING STOP. IT HAD NEVER "LIMPED" UNTIL AT APPROXIMATELY 50K MILES, WHEN THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED TWICE WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX. 50MPH (WRENCH SYMBOL LIT UP). AFTER HAVING THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED BY MY DEALER IN LATE JUNE-EARLY JULY 2013, THE LUNGING, JERKING, HESITATING CONTINUED. ON 8/8/13, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A ROLLING STOP, THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE ATTEMPTING A "MICHIGAN LEFT" ONTO A 4-LANE HIGHWAY (THIS TIME THE BATTERY LIGHT AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON). IF THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD NOT BEEN GREEN, I WAS AT RISK OF BEING STRUCK BY SEVERAL VEHICLES TRAVELING AT RATES OF SPEED UP TO 70MPH. I WAS ABLE TO LET THE VEHICLE ROLL BACK INTO THE TURN LANE; TURNED IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON; BUT ACCELERATION IS STILL NOT OPERATING AS IT SHOULD. THE RPMS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE. I FEEL AS THOUGH I AM DRIVING A "DEATH TRAP". THIS IS A VERY URGENT ISSUE AND MUST BE ADDRESSED AND REPAIRED BY FORD SWIFTLY AND AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $600 TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED (INCLUDING A RENTAL VEHICLE). THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT SATISFACTORILY REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TAKE IT TO MY DEALER AGAIN (I'M CONSIDERING HAVING IT TOWED BECAUSE I'M SO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT), I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING A POWER TRAIN OR A THROTTLE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURNED IT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON ROUTE 33 (BUFFALO, NY HIGHWAY) THAT HAS A LOT OF ONGOING CONSTRUCTION. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A POP AND NOTICED MY SPEED DROPPING FROM 60 TO 20 WITHIN A MATTER OF 20 TO 30 SECONDS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY FLASHERS ON AND TRIED TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. UNFORTUNATELY, MERGING TRAFFIC WAS APPROACHING FROM AN ON RAMP WITH ONE OF THE VEHICLES BEING AN AMBULANCE WITH LIGHTS AND SIRENS ON. THE AMBULANCE HAD TO SWERVE IN ORDER TO MISS STRIKING MY SUV. I HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO REACH THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD DUE TO NO THROTTLE AND CONSTRUCTION SIGNS AND SAND BAGS SURROUNDING THE SHOULDER. EVEN THE TOWING COMPANY HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO REACH MY VEHICLE AND HAD TO MOVE CONSTRUCTION SIGNS, SAND BAGS AND DEBRIS IN ORDER TO TOW MY SUV, I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING SIGNS THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS AND TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. OF COURSE, MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE FORD DEALER. SO ALONG WITH BEING PLACED IN A DANGEROUS AND HORRIFIC SITUATION, I AM ALSO OUT $650, THIS MATTER NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, WHEN CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. COULD NOT ACCELERATE. COASTED TO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY. ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AGAIN AND A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. CALLED TOW TRUCK AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALER. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED AS FAILURE OF THROTTLE BODY. HAD TO HAVE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HE INTERSTATE AT 73 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER, WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE APPEARED TO BE RUNNING, THERE WAS NO ACTION I COULD TAKE OTHER THAN TO PULL OFF THE ROADWAY, TURN OFF THE CAR AND WAIT. APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES, I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART, WHICH IT DID, BUT RAN ROUGH AT IDLE. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES LONGER, RESTARTED AND IT PERFORMED NORMALLY FOR ABOUT TEN MILES. THEN IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING OVER AGAIN. LAST YEAR, IN MY WIFE'S 2010 FORD ESCAPE, THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND PAID $541.00 (THE REQUESTED FACTORY ASSISTANCE WAS REFUSED). BOTH PROBLEMS ARE DANGEROUS BECAUSE THEY PROBLEM OCCURS UNEXPECTEDLY, AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AT IDLE WAITING FOR A LIGHT TO CHANGE, OR WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. NO POWER, PULL OFF THE ROAD, AND WAIT TO RESTART. *TR
IDENTIFIED AS THROTTLE BOTTLE MALFUNCTION. DRIVING IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 70MPH AND CAR STALLS OUT. WRENCH SYMBOL COMES UP AND CAR LOOSES ALL ACCELERATION. ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT AND HAD TO SAFELY GET ON THE CURB. CAR CONTINUES TO REV. TURN CAR OFF AND THEN RESTART AND EVERYTHING IS FINE. ALSO TOOK VIDEO OF INCIDENT. THIS HAD OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD FORD INSTALL NEW THROTTLE BODY FOR $400 ON 8/10/13. NO MORE ISSUES AND FORD VERBALLY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS WAS THE ISSUE. OWN TWO 2009 ESCAPES AND BOTH HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND BOTH HAVE REPLACED THROTTLE BODY. CALLED FORD CONSUMER SERVICE AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP THE SITUATION. *TR
AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR JERKED AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS I WASN'T GETTIN ANY AT ALL SO I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. TRIED PRESSING THE GAS AND NOTHING. SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WAS NORMAL AGAIN. JUST NOT VERY HAPPY BECAUSE WE ARE FINANCING FROM A USE LOT AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR 8 MONTHS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE MOTOR LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE AND HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. WAS DIAG AS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. *TR
THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES. I TOLD THEM IT SUDDENLY STUTTERS AND SLOWS DOWN AND IT WON'T RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL. I HAVE TO STOP, TURN OFF, AND RESTART. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND ALWAYS IN TRAFFIC IT SEEMS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES. IT ALSO REVVED UP TO 10MPH WHILE SITTING IN PARK WITHOUT FOOT ON GAS PEDAL. WE TOLD THEM IT WAS THE THROTTLE, BUT THE COMPUTER DID NOT PICK UP THE CODE. I FEEL IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT UNLESS THE THROTTLE IS FIXED. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SERIOUS RECALL! I HEAR THEY CANNOT GET THROTTLE PARTS. I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN IF THIS IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF AND I HAVE BEEN LOYAL FOR 30 YEARS. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CEASED RESPONDING BECAUSE POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR WAS LOST. THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART AND DRIVE IN LOW GEAR A SHORT DISTANCE. BUT AFTER ABOUT 300 YARDS, LOW GEAR CEASED TO WORK AS THERE WAS NO LONGER ANY POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND BACK OFF THE ROAD. I CONSIDER IT FORTUNATE THAT TRAFFIC WAS RELATIVELY LIGHT AND I WAS NOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A LINCOLN MERCURY DEALER, WHO ADVISED THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER CODE (P2111) INDICATED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS "BAD", AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO BUT REPLACE IT. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME ANY DETAILS AS TO WHAT HAD CAUSED IT TO GO "BAD", AND ADVISED THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DO ANY INVESTIGATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION. ALL THEY COULD DO WAS SEND THE OLD THROTTLE BODY BACK (PRESUMABLY TO FORD), AND INSTALL A NEW ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FOR AN INSTALLED COST OF $720.24. I RETURNED THE CALL AND SHE REQUESTED I SEND A COPY OF MY INVOICE FOR THE THROTTLE BODY INSTALLATION ([XXX]). A FEW DAYS LATER (9/9/13 I BELIEVE) SHE CALLED AND THE BOTTOM LINE WAS ALL FORD WOULD OFFER WAS A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT OF $240, WHICH I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED. SHE ADMITTED NO WRONG (EXCEPT PERHAPS BY INFERENCE OF OFFERING A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT) AND ADVISED FORD COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT I WOULD NOT EXPERIENCE ANOTHER THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. WHILE DRIVING THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE AND WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN A COUPLE OF MILES AN HOUR. THE ENGINE WAS SURGING DURING THIS TIME. I COULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT BUT IT WOULD IMMEDIATELY DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. THE CODES THAT WERE READ FROM THE VEHICLE WERE P2111 AND P2112 AND SAID THE THROTTLE STUCK OPEN AND THROTTLE STUCK CLOSED. *TR
DRIVING ON LOCAL HIGHWAY AND ENGINE ENTERED "SAFE MODE" (WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE). PREVIOUSLY VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER AND NEAR STALL BUT RUN FINE WHEN RESTARTED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE DROPPED TO IDLE AND THROTTLE BECAME NO RESPONSIVE. HAD TO PERFORM EVASIVE MANEUVERS WITHOUT POWER TO SAFELY PULL OVER. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT HIT. AFTER CALLING THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD LIKELY NEED TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AT OVER $600. THIS ISSUE HAS BECOME WORSE IN ONLY A FEW DAYS AND OCCURS AT A VARIETY OF SPEEDS. RESEARCH ON THE WEB LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND I AM CONCERNED FOR SAFETY OF DRIVERS WITH ALL THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR
STARTED ENGINE AND POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. LOOKED UP IN MANUAL AND IT SAID IT WILL GO INTO MANUAL STEERING IF POWER STEERING GET HOT. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BUT THEN THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK AFTER EACH OCCURRENCE. NOW THE STEERING CHATTERS AND SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN WHEN IN PARK AND ENGINE OFF. *TR

7/30/2013 STARTED UP AFTER STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION. ABOUT HALF A BLOCK LATER, I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THEN IT SPUTTERED, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND TURNED IT OFF. IT STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND PROCEEDED NORMALLY. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, I ACCELERATED AND THE CAR LOST POWER, THE WRENCH LIT UP AND I COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE AGAIN. AGAIN, IT STARTED RIGHT UP. A WEEK LATER, IT DID THE SAME THING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I PUT ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND COASTED TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. IT STARTED UP, BUT DID THE SAME THING AFTER A FEW YARDS. I MADE IT VERY SLOWLY INTO A PARKING LOT AND IT STAYED THERE UNTIL THAT EVENING. WHEN I TRIED IT LATER, IT DIED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND I DROVE IT HOME ON THE BACK STREETS LATE AT NIGHT WHEN THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON LINE, I SAW WHAT OTHERS HAD DONE AND HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. THAT WAS 6 DAYS AGO. SO FAR, SO GOOD. AS I WAS ENTERING AN EXIT RAMP OFF I 20 EASTBOUND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE MERGING AT I75/85 IN ATLANTA. LUCKILY I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. AGAIN IT LOST POWER. NEVER DID IT GIVE AN ERROR CODE. ONCE AGAIN IT LOST POWER AND THIS TIME IT THE ERROR LIGHT. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THIS VERY BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN HE STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE- OUR 2009 FORD ESCAPE DID NOT ACCELERATE- IT STALLED OUT AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. THE WRENCH LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND WE HAD TO PRAY THAT WE COULD COAST OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN TO THE SHOULDER WHILE TRUCKS WERE ZOOMING BY. WE CALLED AAA FOR A TOW TO THE LOCAL GARAGE. AT LOCAL GARAGE, VEHICLE WAS KEPT FOR 9 DAYS, TEST DRIVING IT, BUT HAD NO INCIDENTS BECAUSE WRENCH LIGHT NEVER WENT BACK ON. WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT FORD WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE .I CALLED FORD.THEY COULD NOT SEE ME FOR ANOTHER WEEK. I DROVE VEHICLE DOING ERRANDS- 2 DAYS LATER AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN- TRUCK SPUTTERS AND DIES UPON ACCELERATION. WRENCH LIGHT GOES ON AGAIN. I NOW HAVE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF A BUSY MAIN ROAD AND COAST INTO AN EXIT ONLY SHOPPING CENTER, PRAYING I DO NOT HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION. I SPOKE TO FRIEND WHO ADVISED ME TO COME TO THIS WEB SITE. LO AND BEHOLD- OVER 350 COMPLAINTS DESCRIBING THE SAME EXPERIENCE I HAD! THIS WAS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE MODEL. I CALLED FORD AGAIN, BEGGING FOR AN EARLIER APPOINTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT IF I WANTED TO RENT A CAR AT MY EXPENSE I COULD COME IN. THEY WERE OUT OF LONERS! ( A CAR DEALER-REALLY? ) I WAITED FOR APPOINTMENT, MEANWHILE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON PERMANENTLY 2 DAYS LATER. NOW I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE WITH THE FEAR IT IS GOING TO DROP DEAD ! SHOWED ALL INFO FROM THIS SITE TO FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT INCLUDED IN WARRANTY OR A RECALL. IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY - IT COST ME $567.10 FOR PART AND LABOR PLUS TAX = $606.80. APPEARANCE OF A WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOTED. HAZARD LIGHTS WERE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS SUCCESSFULLY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED. RAN FINE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED FOR ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF. SAME ISSUE. REPEAT TROUBLESHOOTING. INCIDENT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN FOR 4 MORE DAYS CONSISTENTLY. TAKEN INTO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. MECHANIC CONTACTED ME AFTER DIAGNOSTIC AND INFORMED THAT THE CODE FOR THE THROTTLE BODY WAS IN ERROR. REPLACED THE FAULTY PART( I KEPT IT AT MY REQUEST DUE TO THE POSSIBLE INVESTIGATION INTO THE MATTER) AND THE VEHICLE NOW RUNS FINE. THANK GOODNESS THE ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR IN A BUSY INTERSECTION WHERE AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY ENDANGERED ANYONE. *TR

VEHICLE DIED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND IT INDICATED THE FUEL ACTUATOR WAS GETTING STUCK. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER, THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT APPEARS THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. *TR

WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK WE LOSE ACCELERATION AND PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOTHING. THIS HAS HAPPENED NOW 4 TIMES. THE IDLE SITS BETWEEN 800 & 1100 RPMS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECALL PROBLEM WHEN I INVESTIGATED IT. I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH IN TOWN WHEN VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE LOSING POWER. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT A VERY ROUGH IDLE . I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT IT WOULD BARELY MOVE. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT . IT DID THE SAME THING, NO ACCELERATION. I DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD RUN PROPERLY. IT SEEMED RATHER JERKY WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABOUT 10 MILES FROM HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ON THE WAY HOME I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND IT DIED COMPLETELY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME. I GOT IT RESTARTED AND MADE IT HOME. I HAVE A CODE READER AT MY HOUSE. I CHECKED AND CODES P2111 AND P2112 WERE STORED IN THE COMPUTER. I CHECKED WITH A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE CODES RELATE TO THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BUT THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER.
