THE CAR STALLS AT LOW SPEED, SUCH AS STOPPED AT LIGHT OR SLOWING WAY DOWN TURNING INTO DRIVE WAY, CAR WILL JUST SHUT OFF, I PUT IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. CAN NOT EVER TELL WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. NOW THE CAR IS JERKING AS I AM DRIVING IT AT SPEEDS OF 40-45 MPH AND 60-65 MPH. IT SEEMS TO SLIP OR MISSING SHIFTING AND JERKS VERY HARD. ARE THESE TWO THINGS RELATED?. I TOOK IT INTO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO DO THAT THERE, WHILE RUNNING IT WHILE UP ON THE LIFT. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS ISSUE IF I CAN NOT GET IT TO DO THE SAME THING WHILE AT DEALERSHIP AND I CAN NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. IF THIS IS GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING, I DO NOT WANT THE CAR ANYMORE AND THE DEAL WILL NEED TO TAKE IT BACK.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND MY GAS PEDAL WENT SOFT. I COULD NOT GET ANY SPEED AND I HAD TO PULL OVER IN ORDER TO AVOID FROM BEING HIT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.NOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP WHICH COST MONEY.
PURCHASED 2010 FORD ESCAPE XLT IN APRIL 2015. (1) VEHICLE HAD SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE WHEN ACCELERATING. ISSUED FIXED BY DEALER REPLACING BELT TENSIONER BUT NOISE HAS SINCE RETURNED. (2) VEHICLE ALREADY HAD OR DEVELOPED CONSTANT VIBRATION AT IDLE WHEN IN DRIVE AND FOOT ON BREAK AND GETS WORSE WITH A/C ON. TOOK TO DEALER 3 TIMES WHO STATED THEY REPLACED RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT AND REAR TRANSMISSION MOUNT BUT VIBRATION CONTINUED AFTER REPAIRS. SERVICE DEPT TECH STATING THAT THERE IS A STRONG VIBRATION BUT THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE ENGINE VIBRATION BUT THAT VEHICLE IS OPERATIONAL. VIBRATION IS VERY STRONG AND ALMOST FEELS LIKE ENGINE WANTS TO TURN OFF AT TIMES. IF TRANSMISSION IS PUT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK THEN VIBRATION IS GONE AND NOT NOTICEABLE WHILE DRIVING. (3) TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND IS HARSH AND DELAYED AT TIMES CAUSING A JERKING MOTION ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS DURING CITY DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY JERKS WHEN PUT IN REVERSE BUT NOT ALWAYS CONSISTENT. SAFETY CONCERN IS VEHICLE FEELS AS IF IT MAY SHUT DOWN WHILE THIS VIBRATION IS BEING OBSERVED AND CAUSES SAFETY CONCERNS WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE AND THAT TRANSMISSION MAY FAIL SOON. PURCHASED AT FIAT OF FRESNO, FRESNO CA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE PARKED, THE IGNITION WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND ONCE IT WAS STARTED THE IGNITION REMAINED STUCK IN THE START POSITION CAUSING THE STARTER TO REMAIN ENGAGED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO HIT THE IGNITION FOR IT TO COME OUT OF THE STARTING POSITION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF POWER AS IF IT WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
I PULLED OUT OF MY STREET ON TO A MAIN ROAD AND WITH NO WARNING MY ESCAPE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING AND MULTIPLE CARS ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE IT WAS SO UNEXPECTED. NOW MY CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE, CAUSING IT TO BE QUITE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT GIVES YOU NO WARNING.
AFTER LOADING THE VEHICLE, I SHUT THE REAR GATE. THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED UPON IMPACT AND SHARDS OF GLASS FLEW ALL OVER THE STREET AND THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE SCARING THE KIDS. *TR
WHILE MOVING IN LEFT OF TWO LANES IN MODERATE TRAFFIC AT ~58 MPH THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. ACCELERATOR DID NOT FUNCTION. 'WRENCH' WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD WAS ILLUMINATED. ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, POWER BRAKES, AND POWER STEERING SEEMED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. VEHICLE HAD NO POWER, MEANING THAT DRIVER COULD NOT CONTROL SPEED OF VEHICLE. RIGHT TURN SIGNAL WAS ACTIVATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS 'COASTED' TO THE RIGHT BERM -- ALMOST BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE! DRIVER SAT IN VEHICLE ASSESSING STATUS OF ALL GAUGES AND (WARNING) LIGHTS. NOTHING APPEARED OUT OF ORDINARY EXCEPT FOR 'WRENCH' LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OF. AFTER 30 SECOND PAUSE, VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. WRENCH LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED AND, AGAIN, ALL GAUGES AND LIGHTS APPEARED NORMAL. RE-ENTERED TRAFFIC AND SUCCESSFULLY REACHED GROCERY STORE -- 1 MILE AWAY. VEHICLE WAS PARKED. UPON COMPLETION OF SHOPPING VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME (~5 MILES) WITHOUT EVENT RECURRING. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT IS ONLY THROUGH 'GOOD LUCK' THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT HIT BY OTHER TRAFFIC. DRIVER HAD ZERO CONTROL OVER VEHICLE SPEED. *TR
TOOK MY CAR TO HARROLD FORD ON HOWE AVENUE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN WORKED ON AND PICKED UP THE CAR AND DIDN'T GET FAR AND THE CAR STALLED. RE-STARTED THE CAR AND BARELY MADE IT BACK HOME AND CALLED HARROLD FORD AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK AND WE HAD IT TOWED TO THEIR FACILITY AGAIN AND RECEIVED A CALL IN THE AFTERNOON AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR IS READY TO BE PICKED UP AND WE DRIVE OVER THERE AND THE CAR STALLED AFTER A COUPLE OF BLOCKS AND HAD IT TOWED TO THEIR FACILITY AGAIN AND THE NEXT DAY WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM HARROLD FORD AND TOLD US THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US AND TO PICK UP MY CAR. " YOUR CAR IS A SALVAGED TITLE" WE TOOK THE CAR HOME VIA TOW TRUCK AND WE HAD A MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK AT THE THROTTLE BODY AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS NEVER REPLACED! I FEEL THAT THE COUPLE OF TIMES THAT WE DROVE THAT CAR PUT ME AND MY GRANDCHILDREN IN A GREAT DANGER AND I THANK GOD THAT WE DIDN'T GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THE CAR ONLY DROVE 2 BLOCKS AND I TOLD HARROLD FORD THAT WE BROUGHT MY CAR FOR RECALL PARTS AND NOW MY CAR IS NOT EVEN DRIVABLE. TOTALLY DEAD! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THE SPEED DECREASED TO 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN STRIPPED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, AND BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER PREVIOUSLY CHANGED THE FUEL GASKET TWICE, BUT THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARDS TO A NEWSLETTER REGARDING REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPROGRAMMING THE PCM UNDER INVESTIGATION PE13003. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE DEALER DID NOT FEEL THE REPAIR WAS WARRANTED AND THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
DRIVING NORMALLY, THROTTLE CONTROL POWERTRAIN WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, CAR GAS PEDAL DOES NOT WORK, ENGINE IDLES AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN YOU SHUT THE CAR ALL THE WAY OFF AND WAIT THEN RESTART THE ENGINE THE CAR WORKS AS NORMAL AGAIN. *TR
FOR THE FIRST TIME THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, I WAS TURNING LEFT ONTO MY MOTHER'S STREET, GOING APPROXIMATELY 20/25 MPH. THERE WAS NO WARNING, THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT A PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 4 WEEKS LATER AND AGAIN, I WAS GOING SLOW AS I WAS IN MY PARKING GARAGE AT WORK, APPROXIMATELY 15/20 MPH WHEN MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, RESTARTED AND STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. AS I WAS APPROACHING ANOTHER LEVEL IN THE PARKING GARAGE, THE SAME THING HAPPENED-THE CAR SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND START DRIVING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS CARS HAVE ALMOST REAR ENDED ME AND I DRIVE WITH MY 2 YOUNG SONS IN THE CAR. PREVIOUS TO THESE INCIDENCES I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD FOR RECALLS REGARDING THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH CAN APPARENTLY CAUSE THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR. *TR
EVERYONE WE FILL UP THE FUEL TANK THE CAR FILLLS UP WITH GAS FUMES MAKING ANYONE IN THE CAR NAUSEOUS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERAHIP AT LEAST 3 TIMES BEFORE THE RECALL AND I HAVE TAKEN IT ONCE MORE SINCE THE RECALL BUT ALL I AM TOLD IS THAT THEY DONT HAVE ANY FIX FOR IT YET. THIS IS A DANGER TO ME AND MY KIDS AND THIS NEED TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH KEY FOB AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ALSO FAILS TO LOCK WITH THE AUTOMATIC SAFETY FEATURE THAT LOCKS DOORS WHEN DRIVING THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM.
MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE HAS BEEN STALLING!!! I HAVE ALREADY GOT THE THROTTLE BODY UPDATE LAST WEEK! THAT IS NOT THE FIX. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY CAR (THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD- RECALLED, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME DRIVING THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WITH MY KID- RECALLED, THE THROTTLE BODY- FIXED LAST WEEK IN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION UPDATE/RECALL) AND YET IT IS STILL STALLING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND JUST AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS 5 YEAR OLD CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A DEATH TRAP FOR ME AND MY TODDLER. NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE STALLING. I AM TAKING IT IN YET AGAIN IN HOPES SOMEONE CAN TELL ME WHY MY 5 YEAR OLD CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN ON ME. IT SHAKES REALLY HARD LIKE IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE AND THEN SMELLS LIKE GAS BEFORE IT SHUTS OFF. I HAVE BEEN BEYOND FRUSTRATED WITH THIS 2010 ESCAPE AND CAN'T GET RID OF IT BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS ALL OF MY ISSUES WITH IT. IF MY DAUGHTER AND I DIE WHILE IN THE CAR.....IT WILL MOST LIKELY BE FORDS FAULT WITH AS MANY PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD. PLEASE PLEASE RECALL WHATEVER IS CAUSING THESE CARS TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN CLOSING THE REAR HATCH ON MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED LEAVING GLASS SHARDS THROUGHOUT MY DRIVEWAY AND OUT INTO THE STREET. THERE WAS NOTHING BLOCKING THE CLOSURE AND NORMAL FORCE WAS USED TO CLOSE THE HATCH. *TR
HAVE TO PUSH IN KEY HARD TO START VEHICLE.
THE INDICATOR SHOWED UPON STARTING THE CAR, A RED WARNING LIGHT "ENGINE CHECK". I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME LESS THAN A MILE IN AT A SLOW SPEED, NO ACCELERATION WAS POSSIBLE. THE NEXT MORNING MY HUSBAND FOLLOWED ME TO THE NEAREST LOCAL CAR REPAIR SHOP WHICH IS 12 MILES FROM MY HOME. AGAIN, NO ACCELERATION WAS POSSIBLE. THE CAR REQUIRED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY BE REPLACED. THERE IS A FIELD SERVICE ACTION ON THIS MODEL. THE PREVIOUS YEAR THE CAR HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED, FOR A VOLUNTARY SAFETY DEFECT CHECK FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. APPARENTLY THE TEMPORARY FIX, REPROGRAMMING THE CONTROL, THAT WAS PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE THE PREVIOUS YEAR WAS NOT SATISFACTORY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS IS A DANGER TO OPERATING VEHICLES, SINCE THERE IS NO WARNING UNTIL THE SERVICE GOES OUT IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS PART. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR MY HOME AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE AND WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP DOWN A RURAL ROAD FOR REPAIRS. I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY. BASICALLY THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOWED IN FOR REPAIRS. *TR
THE REAR LIFT GATE WINDOW GLASS EXPLODED AS I WAS CLOSING THE LIFT GATE. ACCORDING TO YOUR WEBSITE, THIS DEFECT HAS ALREADY BEEN INVESTIGATED AND CLOSED: DATE INVESTIGATION OPENED: APR 27, 2011; DATE INVESTIGATION CLOSED: AUG 18, 2011; NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11016; COMPONENT(S): STRUCTURE , VISIBILITY. *JS

TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE AND HIT THE BRAKE TO STOP , CAR SURGED FORWARD AND JUMPED THE CURB. HIT A BUS SHELTER, SIDE SWIPED A TREE , THEN JUMP CURB BACK TO PARKING LOT BEFORE ESCAPE CAME TO A FULL STOP. FIRST TIME SLED ON A SMALL PATCH OF ICE CAR SURGED BRAKES NEVER TOOK HOLD SLID AND AVOIDED AND STREET LIGHT AND A TREE BEFORE COMING TO A FULL STOP. TOOK CAR TO SHOP FOR OIL CHANGE HAD BRAKES CHECKED SAID NO PROBLEM. BUT SOMETIMES THIS SUV HAS A POWER SURGE WHEN APPLING BRAKES. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW OF THE CAR SUDDENLY EXPLODED. I CLOSED THE TAILGATE, AND A MOMENT LATER, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED WITHOUT PROVOCATION. MORE OF THE SHATTERED GLASS WENT INTO THE CAR THAN WENT OUTSIDE IT. IT DID NOT INJURE ME, FORTUNATELY, BUT HUNDREDS OF SHARDS OF GLASS WENT EVERYWHERE. THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING WAS THAT THERE WAS NO SEEMING CAUSE. NOTHING WAS TOUCHING THE WINDOW. THE TEMPERATURE WAS CHILLY BUT MODERATE (40'S). THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS AMISS; THE WINDOW JUST EXPLODED. LOOKING ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED IN 2010 AND SOME 2011 FORD ESCAPES, AND THERE WAS EVEN AN INCONCLUSIVE INVESTIGATION IN 2011 BY THE NTSB. BUT AT THIS POINT, THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE WINDOW. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-70 WEST BOUND AND MY CAR STARTED TO CHANGE LANES WITHOUT MY CONTROL. ALSO SINCE I HAD THE FORD'S RECALL NUMBER 14S05 SERVICE MY GAS MILLAGE HAS ALSO DROPPED BY 3-5 MILES PER GALLON. BEFORE THE RECALL SERVICE I HAD NO ISSUES WITH MY CAR. I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR STEERING IS OVER COMPENSATING PROVIDING A CARNIVAL TYPE RIDE. (CAR SICKNESS TO THOSE WHO RIDE WITH ME AND SOMETIMES MYSELF ALSO.) ASKED THE FORD MOTOR CAR COMPANY ABOUT RESTORING BACK TO THE ORGINAL SETTING AND THEY SAID NO. MY CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO USE SINCE I HAD THE 14S05 RECALL SERVICE DONE. *JS
I DRIVE A 2010 FORD ESCAPE AND RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (#14S05) FOR THE POWER STEERING SENSOR. I TOOK IT TO LIBERTY FORD IN PARMA HEIGHTS IN OCTOBER 2014 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. IN LATE JANUARY 2015 I AGAIN RECEIVED THE SAME SIGNAL ON MY DASHBOARD THAT I DID PRIOR TO THE RECALL. MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO STEER. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THIS WOULD COST ME ALMOST 1200.00. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THIS REALLY DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL AND IS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER CUSTOMER GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING ADVISED ME THAT HIS MECHANIC ADVISED HIM THAT THIS IS A KNOWN FORD DEFECT. THEY ARE PASSING THESE COSTS ONTO ME - THIS IS SO UNFAIR. I HAVE NO RECOURSE BUT TO PAY THIS AMOUNT SINCE IT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. *TR
FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR MY 2010 ESCAPE (NHTSA RECALL: 14V-284) FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES WHICH I RESPONDED TO AND A LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE. NOW I AM STARTING TO EXPERIENCE THE ISSUES THAT WERE CITED IN THE RECALL INCLUDING LOSS OF POWER STEERING LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION AT ALL. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED. THERE WAS A RECALL IN JULY 2014 ON THIS. DEALERSHIP THEN RESET THE SOFTWARE FOR THE TORQUE SENSOR. THE RECALL STATES THAT EITHER A SOFTWARE UPDATE IS NEEDED, THE TORQUE SENSOR REPLACED, OR THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. AT THE TIME I HAD NO ISSUES. 6 MONTHS LATER MY POWER STEERING FAILED. I AM NOW TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. THE RECALL STATES IF A SOFTWARE RESET WAS DONE THAT ANY FURTHER ISSUES WOULD NOT BE COVERED. MY CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WE WERE UNLOADING BAGS FROM THE TRUNK. A FRIEND CLOSED THE TRUNK (NOT JUST THE WINDOW, THE ENTIRE DOOR) WHEN THE BACK WINDSHIELD EXPLODED SHOOTING SHARDS OF GLASS ALL OVER THE GROUND, MY CAR AND THE PEOPLE STANDING NEARBY. NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED THANK GOODNESS BUT WE WERE ALL SHOCKED. THE DOOR WAS CLOSED IN A NORMAL MATTER BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN HAD BEEN SHOT INTO THE WINDOW WHEN IT HAPPENED. WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD JUST OCCURRED BUT AFTER LOOKING INTO IT MYSELF, MANY OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS SEEM TO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR WINDOWS EXPLODING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS AN INCONVENIENCE. WHAT IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT OR MY DOG HAD BEEN IN THE TRUNK WHERE SHE OFTEN SITS? THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY CUT BY THE FLYING GLASS OR WORSE. FORD IS A LARGE COMPANY AND FOR THE MOST PART HAS A GOOD REPUTATION. WHY WOULD THEY ALLOW AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2005 GO ON LIKE THIS WITH NO APOLOGY OR RECALL? CHARGING ME $98 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST (THAT THEY STATED REVEALED NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM) & THEN THEY TURNED AROUND & CHARGED ME #130 FOR A NEW BATTERY, THE CAR CONTINUED TO CUT OFF ON ME. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS. FINALLY THEY CALLED ME & TOLD ME TO COME PICK UP THE CAR. THE SERVICE DEPT. STATED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG W/ THE CAR, BUT THEY KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG W/ IT. THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT TIL THE PROBLEM GOT WORST. THEY SENT ME HOME W/ A CAR THAT CUTS OFF CONSTANTLY, THEY DON'T CARE THAT I NEED TO DRIVE A DEPENDABLE CAR. THE VEHICLE BEGAN HAVING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING INTO 2ND AND 3RD GEARS IN NOVEMBER 2014. APPARENTLY, THERE WAS A LEAK ON THE DRIVER-SIDE AXLE SHAFT THAT CAUSED TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVELS TO DROP. INITIALLY, WE PERCEIVED THIS ISSUE TO BE RELATED TO COLD WEATHER, BUT THE LEAK WAS DISCOVERED WHEN WE FINALLY TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP TO DISCOVER THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IN MARCH 2015. A SEAL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID, RESULTING IN A REPAIR BILL OF $471. WHILE CHECKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS AN APPROPRIATE COST FOR THE REPAIR, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM IN BOTH 2010 FORD ESCAPE MODELS AND FORD FUSION MODELS. THE INDIVIDUAL WE SPOKE TO AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN PICKING UP THE VEHICLE INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. HE INSTRUCTED US TO SAVE THE RECEIPTS IN THE EVENT OF A FUTURE RECALL. FORD HAD ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE AXLE SEAL, SO THE COMPANY IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE ALSO. *TR

SUBSEQUENTLY WITHIN A WEEK, VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 50 MPH ON HIGHWAY AND RPM GAUGE WAS FLUCTUATING ERRATICALLY. VEHICLE BROUGHT INTO DEALER AND TROUBLE CODE P2112 FOUND. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH DEALER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL'S THROTTLE BODY/MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND THAT FORD WOULD ONLY REPLACE PART WHEN CODE WAS PRESENT. DEALER REPLACED PART AND WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND TROUBLE SEEMS TO HAVE GONE AWAY. THIS COMPLAINT IS BEING WRITTEN TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE FOR OTHERS AND TO RECOMMEND THAT NHTSA REQUIRE FORD TO RECALL ALL MODELS IMPACTED AND REPLACE THIS PART REGARDLESS OF WHETHER CODE IS PRESENT. *TR
