IMMEDIATELY AFTER HAVING TWO ITEMS FIXED THAT WERE RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE, (THROTTLE BODY ETC), THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING DONE WHILE FIXING RECALL ITEMS; HOWEVER, THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE RECALL ITEMS FIXED. ALSO IT WOULD COST $527.00 TO FIX, AS THE FLAP INSIDE THE NOZZLE/FLEX FUEL PIPE WAS NOT CLOSING PROPERLY. I SHOWED MY ANGER AND DISAPPOINTMENT - WHICH AT THAT POINT, THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED THAT MY CAR HAD A WHITE FUNNEL THAT THEY WOULD USE TO TRY TO UNDO THE FLAP. IT WORKED. WHY IN THE WORLD DID THEY TRY TO GET ME TO PAY $527 WITHOUT FIRST TRYING THE FUNNEL. ANOTHER CLIENT IN THE SERVICE DEPT ADVISED ME TO DO THE FUNNEL THING BEFORE THE SERVICE GUY DID. HE HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUES. AS OF THIS MORNING, HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. I AM GOING TO TRY THE FUNNEL FIRST, BEFORE I TAKE IT TO MY PERSONAL MECHANIC. I FEEL ASSURED THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST FORD ESCAPE 2010 OWNER THAT HAS EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. PLEASE CHECK INTO RECALLING THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. *TR
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS COMING TO A STOP DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN FEB 2014. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO STOP WHEN I NOTICED THE RED BATTERY & WRENCH LIGHT COME ON. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE & THE ENGINE WAS OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO LUCK. THE DASH LIGHTS & RADIO WOULD WORK BUT IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF TRAFFIC. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I TRIED AGAIN & IT STARTED (APPROXIMATELY AFTER 15 MIN). I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER. THEY "SUPPOSEDLY" FIXED IT UNDER A RECALL. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN (OCT 2014) TO ME WHILE COMING TO A STOP DURING RUSH HOUR. AGAIN THE LIGHTS TURNED RED AND THE ENGINE DIED. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ANY LUCK. THE DASH LIGHTS & RADIO WORKED BUT IT WOULDN'T START. FINALLY AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT STARTED AGAIN. I'M WAITING FOR MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE FORD DEALER. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT GIVEN THAT THE ENGINE DIES WITHOUT NOTICE. PLUS THE "REPAIR" DIDN'T WORK! *TR
I HAVE HAD THE TWO RECALLS FIXED IN JULY FOR MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE. HOWEVER, IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP REGARDING THE (WRENCH LIGHT) THROTTLE/POWERTRAIN LIGHT COMING ON. MY CAR LOOSES POWER WHEN I ACCELERATE AND THE LIGHT COMES ON. IT GOES OFF ONCE I TURN OFF THE CAR WHICH IS MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING AND UNFORTUNATELY I CAN'T GET THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. THEY HAVE RUN A HISTORY FOR THE CODES THAT HAVE COME UP ON THE CAR, BUT THERE ARE NO RECENT CODES/PROBLEMS. I KEEP TELLING THEM THAT I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS LISTED IN THE FORD RECALL NOTICE BUT I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO IF THERE IS NO CODE SHOWING A PROBLEM. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY SON IN THIS CAR. I ALSO COMMUTE 100 MILES DAILY DOWN A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AND I AM WORRIED THAT THE CAR WILL DIE AND I WON'T BE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WITH THE ESCAPE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED! *TR

FORD ESCAPE RECALL..WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE(USED) IN 2014..I IMMEDIATELY WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL..THERE WAS..FUEL FLANGE PART..I WENT TO SMITH CAIRNS FORD DEALERSHIP IN YONKERS.THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A RECALL..THEY SAID THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE PART AND FORD WOULD SEND ME A CARD WHEN PART BECAME AVAILABLE...THAT WAS 3 YEARS AGO!!..I AM COMTEMPLATING LEGAL ACTION BUT MY LAWYER SAID TO CONTACT NHTSA BEFORE WE ENTER LEGAL ACTION.
MY CAR WAS PARKED AT MY MOTHERS IN FRONT OF HER GARAGE. I WAS INSIDE THE BARN WITH HER AND WE HEARD THIS NOISE. I LOOKED OUTSIDE AND MY REAR WINDOW ON THE HATCH HAD EXPLODED. IT WAS ONLY ABOUT 70 DEGREES AND CLOUDY OUTSIDE, THE VENTS WERE OPEN AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WAS PART WAY DOWN FOR AIR. NO ONE WAS NEAR THE CAR WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT JUST EXPLODED FOR NO KNOWN REASON. NOTHING LEFT TO IT. *TR
FROM THE TIME WE FIRST BOUGHT THE ESCAPE (NEW) THE BATTERY LIGHT HAS CAME ON AT RANDOM TIMES. WE HAVE TAKEN IN AND DEALER SAID THERE IS NOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. WHEN WE DRIVE THE CAR AND HAVE THE HEAT OR AIR ON IT WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF AND THEN A MINUTE LATER COME BACK ON FULL BLAST. I ALSO HAVE RUST UNDER WHEEL WELLS THAT FORD SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER BECAUSE IT DID NOT PREFERATE THE BODY BUT IS CLEARLY CREEPING UP THE UOUSIDE OF THE REAR QUARTER PANEL AS WELL. I HAVE SEEN THIS ON MANY OF THE SAME YEAR ESCAPES. WHEN I PUSHED FOR RESULTS THEY OPENED AN INVESTIGATION THEN CAME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD SPLIT THE COST WITH ME WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 5 YEAR UNLIMITED MILEAGE BODY COVERAGE. ALSO, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE LAST WEEK AND IT RANDOMLY STALLED ON HER CAUSING HER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. SAFETY IS BECOMING A CONCERN. NOT PLEASED WITH RESULTS GIVEN.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER PICKING MY CHILDREN UP FROM SCHOOL. I WAS GOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY I LOST ACCELERATION TO THE CAR. THE CAR DECREASED SPEED VERY FAST AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND CAME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING ME. A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. COME TO FIND OUT FORD IS AWARE OF A THROTTLE ISSUE AND HAVE A EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM CONFUSED TO WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN CALLED FOR RECALL. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS TO ALL OF US. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY HAS BEEN PUT IN DANGER DUE TO THIS ISSUE THAT FORD IS AWARE. INCLUDING THE NHTSA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. ARE WE WAITING FOR LIVES TO BE TAKEN TO MAKE THIS A RECALL? THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED RIGHT AWAY. IS THERE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT MUST DIE BEFORE NHTSA MAKE THIS A RECALL? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BRADFORD FAIRWAY FORD, BRADFORD, PA, 814-368-7166), BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
WHILE DRIVING INTO WORK WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60MPH, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SPUTTERED AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED AND THERE SEEMED TO BE A LOSS OF POWER. I REMEMBER THIS DESCRIPTION FROM THE THROTTLE BOTTLE NOTIFICATION I RECEIVED FROM FORD A FEW MONTHS BACK. I HAD TAKEN MY ESCAPE INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 9/11/14 TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OFF AND NOW 2 WEEKS LATER MY VEHICLE NOW HAS THE THROTTLE CONTROL/POWERTRAIN WARNING LIGHT ON AND IS SHOWING ALL SIGNS OF THE NOTIFICATION FROM FORD. I KNOW THIS ISSUE HAS ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED, BUT NOW I AM QUESTIONING AS TO WHETHER OR NOT FORD IS ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE EASY FUEL CAPLESS FUEL FILLER CAP BROKE OFF INSIDE THE FUEL FILLER NECK. NOW GAS WILL ONLY GO IN VERY SLOWLY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON DUE TO VAPOR LEAK. WILL COST $400 PLUS TO REPLACE ENTIRE FUEL FILLER NECK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (ELECTRIC POWER STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. UPDATED 11/21/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE TORQUE CONVERTER SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REIMBURSE THE REPAIR COST, STATING THAT IT WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL.*JS
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED AND LOST POWER. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS NOTHING. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOPPED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO "LOPE" AND THERE WAS A LIGHT ON THE DASH SHOWING A LITTLE WRENCH. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP AGAIN, AND IT RAN FINE. THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 MORE TIMES. IF THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE WAY TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS RESULTING IN A REAR END COLLISION. *TR
ACCELERATION ABILITY STOPPED ABRUPTLY ON THE INTERSTATE; HAD TO COAST TO SHOULDER. ENGINE TROUBLE/WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. HAD IT TOWED TO TRANSMISSION SHOP. HAVE FULLY DOCUMENTED P2112 CODE INDICATING THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED OTHER SHUDDERING/GEAR CHANGING IN THE PAST, DOCUMENTED WITH THE DEALERSHIP. FORD REFUSES TO SERVICE IT UNDER RECALL EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SEE THE CODE. I DID NOT KNOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOWED DIRECTLY TO THEM. WOULD BE NICE TO RECEIVE THIS INFORMATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE IT OCCURS. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME "NEXT TIME" IT HAPPENS TO PULL OVER, TURN IT OFF, RESTART IT AND DRIVE IT IN TO THEM FOR THE NECESSARY SERVICE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLL FREE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT IT IS NOT SAVE ONCE THE LIGHT IS ON AND SHOULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND DRIVEN AGAIN. THIS IS LUDICROUS: THEY ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY NOR PROVIDING SAFE AND ACCURATE INFORMATION. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE I-75 WHEN I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER MY CAR TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TURNED MY CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED MY CAR. THE CAR WHEN INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATED WITH NO PROBLEM. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR HIGHWAY THAT I TRAVEL DAILY TO AND FROM WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT HIT IN THE REAR OF THE CAR BY ONCOMING SEMI TRUCKS. CAR COASTED TO A STOP WITH ENGINE RUNNING. HAD TO STOP PUT IN PARK, SHUT OFF AND RESTART AND PUT IN GEAR TO MOVE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND NO WARRANTY COVERAGE. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SINCE YESTERDAY. IN TRAFFIC IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MY WIFE WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED TODAY. *TR
I SENT THIS EMAIL TO FORD IN SEPTEMBER 2014 I WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT WHERE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT A DEER WHICH LANDED ON THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WHICH SHATTERED INTO THOUSANDS OF TINY SHARDS OF GLASS. FOR OVER 2 YEARS, I HAVE BEING DEALING WITH THOUSANDS OF TINY SHARDS EMBEDDED THROUGH OUT MY BODY (FACE, LIPS, HANDS, ARMS, LEGS, NECK, CHEST) WHICH OVER TIME ARE WORKING THEIR WAY OUT. IT IS VERY PAINFUL AND LEAVING SCARS AND DISRUPTING MY SLEEP ON A REGULAR BASIS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, I TURNED ON THE HEAT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND HUNDREDS OF SHARDS OF GLASS BLEW OUT THE HEATER VENTS. MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER IS [XXX]. I THINK YOU SHOULD TEST THE WINDSHIELDS OF SIMILAR CARS FROM THAT LOT TO MAKE SURE THE SAFETY GLASS WAS PROPERLY KILNED OR WHATEVER TREATMENT PROCESS SO THAT OTHERS DO NOT POTENTIALLY EXPERIENCE THE SAME INCIDENT. I QUESTION ALSO IF THE IMPACT EXPLODED THE GLASS IN A SIMILAR WAY THE REAR WINDOW HATCH GLASS THAT IS FREQUENTLY FOUND ON-LINE AND IF THE MANUFACTURER OF THE WINDSHIELDS HAD SOME TYPE OF QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE. MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE DRIVING HOME TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR TOTALLY LOST POWER AND I HAD TO COAST INTO A DRIVEWAY. HAD MY DAUGHTER BEEN DRIVING BY HERSELF SHE WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO REMAIN CALM AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR A LONG TIME AND KNEW WHAT TO DO. ONCE I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON IT RAN FINE. I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENCE AND THOUGHT MAYBE WE HAD JUNK IN THE FUEL. THE NEXT TIME I DROVE THE VEHICLE WE WERE DOING 60 MPH WHEN IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS ON THE FREEWAY NEXT TO A SEMI IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HAD TO TURN MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON AND COAST TO THE SHOULDER. I HAD TO CUT OFF VEHICLES IN THE RIGHT LANE TO GET SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER. ONCE AGAIN I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND WENT HOME. MY HUSBAND DID RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS WITH IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS AND WHEN THEY WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WERE TOLD THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE OTHER PEOPLE FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WE WENT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT IT AND THEY PLAYED DUMP AND SAID THEY HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND WERE ACTUALLY RUDE TO US. I LOCATED A THROTTLE BODY IN STOCK AT A FORD DEALERSHIP 3 HOURS AWAY. WE PICKED THE PART UP AND MY HUSBAND INSTALLED IT. IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR TO REPLACE AND COST $207.22. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. IT IS CRIMINAL TO ALLOW THIS TO GO UNFIXED. IT POSSES A TERRIBLE RISK TO DRIVERS. THE THROTTLE BODY IS NOT JUST ON THE 2009-2013 FORD ESCAPE IT IS ALSO ON : 2010-2012 FORD FUSION, 2011-2013 LINCOLN MKZ, 2010-2011 MERCURY MILAN, AND 2009-2011 MERCURY MARINER. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC GAS PEDAL QUIT WORKING AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHEN HITTING ABOUT 20 MPH AND CAR SLOWED TO A CRAWL. CAR STAYED IDLING, BUT GAS PEDAL QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER. IDLED DOWN FIRST SIDE STREET AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. RESTARTED VEHICLE 2 MINS LATER AND GAS PEDAL STARTED WORKING AGAIN. CAR IDLE REVS UP FOR A SECOND SUDDENLY ON ITS OWN AT SLOW SPEEDS LIKE WAITING IN A DRIVE THRU AND CAUSES THE CAR TO JERK FORWARD IF BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT PRESSED ON FIRMLY. SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE THE PERSON BEHIND YOU HAS HIT YOUR CAR WHEN THEY HAVEN'T. *TR
WHILE ON A BUSY 6 LANE HWY., I WAS AT A CENTER TURN LANE AND COMPLETED MY TURN WHEN LIGHT CHANGED, THEN WENT TO MAKE MY RIGHT TURN ON TO THE NEXT ROAD.... WHEN MY CARS STARTED TO SHAKE VERY BADLY AND LOST ALL POWER DOWN TO A CRAWL, AND THEN STALL, WITH CARS BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDING MYSELF!! THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO BRING IT BACK. I REFUSED AND INSISTED THEY REPLACE IT. I AM NOW STILL FIGHTING WITH FORD TO REIMBURSE ME. A PREVIOUS INCIDENT OF COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE WAS BLAMED ON A FAULTY BATTERY IN MARCH. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PREVIOUS INDICATION "FAILURE" OR CRANKING ISSUES UP UNTIL THE TIME OF ELECTRICAL POWER/BATTERY FAILURE. EVEN THE KEY FOB DID NOT WORK TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE LAST TIME I HAD MY OIL CHANGED, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED THAT I CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I FELT LIKE THE OLD FLUID MAY HAVE BEEN THE REASON WHY MY CAR SHIFTED IN AN ERRATIC MANNER. SO, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE. THIS WAS ON JULY 21, 2014. IT WAS A ABOUT WEEK LATER, THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN LURCHING AGAIN. THIS TIME I DECIDED TO TRY A FULL TANK OF GAS WITH CLEANER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE. IT DIDN'T. FINALLY, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A REPAIR SHOP TO FIX IT ON AUG 18, 2014. THEY WERE THE ONES THAT TOLD ME THE FUEL THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND THAT'S WHEN I GOOGLED AND FOUND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED ON JULY 31, 2014. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS PART, NOT JUST A BANDAID TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THE NHTSA WAS CONCERNED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ALSO AND EXPENSIVE REPAIR AT $400.
