MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT & THEY DID A SMOKE TEST & DETERMINED THAT MY CAR WAS LEAKING GAS VAPORS FROM THE VAPOR LOCK SYSTEM - TO BE SPECIFIC THE FUEL FILLER AREA. IT COST ME $500 TO FIX. THE SHOP SAID MY CAR WAS LEAKING A LOT OF GAS VAPORS WHICH IS DANGEROUS. THANK GOODNESS I DONT SMOKE. THERE SEEM TO BE QUITE A FEW OF THESE COMPLAINTS & THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. APARENTLY FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD - FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE 2006 & YET THEY STILL PUT THEM IN VEHICLES.
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET OF TRAVEL THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BRAKED SO THAT WE WERE TRAVELING AT AROUND 6 MPH. THROTTLE WAS NOT RESPONSIVE. I RETURNED HOME AND PARKED THE CAR AND USED ANOTHER ONE. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER THE CAR STARTED AND PERFORMED NORMALLY. MY POCKET SCANNER SHOWED OBD2 CODE 2111, MEANING THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL WAS STUCK OPEN. I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, INCLUDING THE ACTUATOR CONTROL THAT MORNING. THE CAR HAS NOW RUN ABOUT A WEEK AND SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES WITH NO TROUBLE. THE NUMBER ON THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE IS 100053000805. THE NEW ONE IS DS7Z*9E926*D, AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TICKET. I HAVE THE OLD PART BOXED UP IN CASE FORD EVER RECALLS IT. THE PARTS MAN AT FORD SAID THAT THE THROTTLE PART NUMBER HAD BEEN REVISED A COUPLE OF TIMES. I AM JUST GLAD THAT IT WENT BAD ON A QUIET STREET AND NOT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I AM ALSO GLAD THAT I COULD CHANGE IT MYSELF AND NOT HAVE TO LISTEN TO RUN AROUND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AS THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
THE CAR STARTED FEELING VIBRATIONS IN THE PEDALS, LOST SPEED, EVENTUALLY STALLED ON A HIGHWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID THE FLY-BY THROTTLE BODY UNIT HAD FAILED. *TT
LAST FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND JERK AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT SLOWED TO LIMP MODE. I TURNED IT OFF, RESTARTED IT AND IT DID AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC BECAUSE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. THEY SAID THE THAT I HAD A BLOWN WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT, AND REPLACED BOTH. I GOT THE CAR BACK FROM MY MECHANIC AND AFTER ONLY DRIVING A FEW MILES, THE CAR STARTED TO JERK AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. IT'S BEEN BACK TO MY MECHANIC 3 TIMES NOW BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT COMING UP ON THE COMPUTER BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT DOESN'T STAY ON. THIS LATEST INCIDENT, THE WRENCH AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BUT THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT WHILE THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS STAYED ON. I AM NOW TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE REPAIRED BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD THE PRICES AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. WHEN THE CAR WAS 2 YEARS OLD, I HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT STILL THIS IS DANGEROUS! NOT TO MENTION FRUSTRATING. THE CAR ONLY HAD 24,000 MILES ON IT. AT THAT TIME, I STALLED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN IT HAPPENED. I'M CONFIDENT THAT THIS IS THE THROTTLE BODY AGAIN, AS THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN A LOT OF THESE THIS SUMMER IN MY YEAR OF ESCAPE. I UNDERSTAND THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS AND HAS AN UPDATED THROTTLE BODY IN PRODUCTION THAT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER 27 THIS YEAR. I WANT FORD TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE!!

WHE LEAVING OUR HOME IN HAINES CITY,FL. THE VEHICLE ROUGHLY CHANGED GEARS. THEN WE ENTERED A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AND WENT TO ACCELERATE AND LOST POWER,AND ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL THE DRIVE TRIAIN LIGHT THEN LIT UP.THE VEHICLES BEHIND BLEW THEIR HORNS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SLOWED SUBSTANTIALY WITHOUT SHOWING BRAKE LIGHTS.WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD GARAGE ,AND CHARGED US FOR ANALIZING THE PROBLEM AND THE COST AND INSTALLATION OF THE THROTTLEBODY. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD US HE FTHOUGHT IT WOULD BE THE THROTTLE BODY,PRIOR TO ANALIZING IT.AFTER RESEARCHING FORD VEHICLE PROBLEMS ON THE COMPUTER,I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD VEHICLES.THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE VERY SERIOUS REA END COLLISIONS, AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FORD MOTOR TO REPAIR AND TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.THISSHOULD NOT BE A FAILUR OF THIS PART ON A VEHICLE WITH LOW MILEAGE ESPECIALLY. *TT

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND FORWARD MOTION. IT WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE AND I HAD TO PULL OVER. ONCE I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT, THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. AFTER THE FORD DEALER'S INSPECTION, IT WAS DEEMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY IS THE CULPRIT, AND NEEDS REPLACED.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, LET COOL FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THEN DROVE IT ABOUT 20 MILES IT DIED AGAIN. LET IT COOL AGAIN AN IT DID THIS 4 TIMES BEFORE GETTING TO DEALER. THE SAME THING HAPPEN ON AUG 9 2013 BUT WOULD NOT START. DEALER EXAMINED STARTER AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG BY CHECKING CODES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TODAY A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES IN ONE YEAR TWO OF THOSE TIMES I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT HIT FROM BEHIND. FORD NEEDS TO CHECK AND RECALL THESE CARS, BUT THEY NEED TO SEE BODY COUNTS BEFORE THEY SEE A NEED TO DO SOMETHING.*JB
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN LIGHT TRAFFIC. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR JERKED A LITTLE AND LOST ACCELERATION. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I STOPPED THE CAR, AND CUT IT OFF. I STARTED IT BACK UP, AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF. AND EVERYTHING RAN FINE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. SINCE THEN, THIS BEHAVIOR HAS HAPPENED ONCE OR TWICE EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A SHOP TO LOOK AT IT, BUT WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AS SOON AS I CAN AFTER THE SHOP CONFIRMED THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC WIRING WITH THE MOTOR. *JB
I WAS TRAVELING THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, AS I MASHED THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENED. MY CAR WENT "LIMP" AS IF IT HAD CUT OFF BUT IT WAS STILL ON. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, JUST BARELY AVOIDING BEING STRUCK BY SPEEDING TRAFFIC. I CUT MY CAR OFF AND WAITED 5 MINUTES THEN RESTARTED IT. I WAS ABLE DRIVE IT A SHORT DISTANCE TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT AGAIN "WENT LIMP". AFTER MY CAR WAS EXAMINED, THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY HAD MALFUNCTIONED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AT 35-40 MPH, ENGINE LOST POWER AND DIED MAKING IT VERY HARD TO BRAKE AND STEER. I WAS ABLE TO STEER INTO A TURN LANE WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT IN THE REAR. THIS COULD BE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER WAITING ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN AS MANY DAYS THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THE NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY CUT OUT, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. A BLINKING YELLOW WRENCH SYMBOL CAME ON THE DASH BOARD. WE COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE I SWITCHED THE CAR OFF AND AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES STARTED IT AGAIN SEEMINGLY TO BE FINE. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, 70 MPH ON A TOLL ROAD, AGAIN IT RESTARTED AFTER A SHUTDOWN. THIS TIME WE WENT ABOUT 3 MORE MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND IT CUT OUT AGAIN. 2 MORE TIMES AFTER THAT, BEFORE GETTING IT BACK HOME. IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT ACCORDING TO THE FAILURE CODES, I HAVE REPLACED IT AT A COST OF $295. *TR
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, LIFE THREATENING MALFUNCTION!!! DESERVES OFFICIAL RECALL. WHILE TRAVELING IN THE EVENING OF AUG. 24, 2013, ON A DARK AND LONELY STRETCH OF INTERSTATE 10, OUR 2010 FORD ESCAPE UNCONTROLLABLY DECELERATED FROM 60 TO 0 IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS. WHAT, LIKELY, SAVED OUR LIVES, WAS THAT WE WERE IN THE RIGHT LANE AND WERE ABLE TO ACCESS THE SHOULDER OF THIS INTERSTATE QUICKLY, WITHOUT CAUSING A COLLISION. WE COASTED TO AN INVOLUNTARY DEAD STOP. AFTER WAITING ABOUT 15 MINUTES IN THE DARKNESS ON THE SHOULDER WITH OUR EMERGENCY LIGHTS FLASHING, FEARING FOR OUR SAFETY, WE RESTARTED THE CAR AND MADE IT BACK HOME ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS HOUR DRIVE FELT LIKE FOREVER DUE TO THE THREAT OF THIS REOCCURRING. THE WARNING LIGHT SIGN ON THE DASHBOARD WAS A LITTLE WRENCH, WHICH, ACCORDING TO OUR OWNER'S MANUAL IS A "THROTTLE CONTROL/POWER TRAIN" FAULT THAT REQUIRED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION BY A FORD DEALER. WE WERE NOWHERE NEAR A FORD DEALER DURING THIS INCIDENT, AND AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION, THINK IT BEST TO STAY AWAY FROM FORD DEALERS, PERMANENTLY, AFTER AN OFFICIAL RECALL IS ISSUED. THIS "FAULT" IS VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS, AND TRAGICALLY, SOME UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE, INCLUDING CHILDREN, WILL PROBABLY END UP GETTING KILLED AS A RESULT. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO RECALL THE AFFECTED FORD ESCAPES AND FIX THIS TO PREVENT FUTURE LOSS OF LIFE. *TR

THE DEALER VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
ON 8/24/13, WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF STATE, I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY, GOT MY SPEED UP TO 70 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE JOLTED HARD AND ALL ACCELERATION WAS LOST. I COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED 30 SECONDS, AND RESTARTED IT. IT CRANKED HARD, BUT STARTED. I REENTERED THE HIGHWAY, ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 70 MPH AND THE ESCAPE LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN. I AGAIN COASTED TO A STOP AND REPEATED THE ABOVE STEPS. THE CAR ONCE AGAIN STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE MY TRIP HOME, KEEPING MY SPEED TO AROUND 55MPH. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE FROM 8/24/13 UNTIL 10/15/13. ON 10/15/13, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AROUND 25 MPH WHEN IT LOST ALL ACCELERATION. BY TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, IT WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO ITS DESTINATION. ABOUT 4 HOURS LATER, RETURNING HOME, THE VEHICLE TWICE MORE LOST ALL ACCELERATION WHILE GOING ABOUT 25 MPH. ALL 5 OF THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED IN BUSY, HIGH TRAFFICKED AREAS, AND POSED A REAL ACCIDENT POTENTIAL FOR MY FAMILY. *TR
WHILE DRIVIN ABOUT FIFTY THE CAR JUST STOPPED GOING, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, I TRIED TO PUSH THE FAS PEDAL BUT NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN IT JUST SLOWED TO A STOP. SO I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND IT STARTED UP AND I DROVE OFF. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AT ABOUT 35 MPH, SO I DID THE SAME. THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE AND/OR THE WEATHER BEING THE PROBLEM SO I CALLED FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE THE THROTTLE BODY. WELL FOR THE PAST MONTH IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY WHILE IM DRIVING 65 OR 15 JUST ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT STOPS GOING AND I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT SOMETIMES IT GOES A FEW FEET AND I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN SOMETIMES IT JUST STARTS AND GOES AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY THIRD TIME IN A ROW THAT IT HAPPENS STAYS ON FOR A COUPLE DAYS AND THEN GOES OUT FOR A COUPLE DAYS AND SO ON, JUST DO THE RECALL WE HAVE ALL BEEN READING ABOUT IT DOESN'T TAKE A GENIUS LIKE YOU PEOPLE TO FIGURE THIS OUT ........HEAR LET ME HELP YOU DOOOOO THE RECALL. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 70-75 MPH. SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT AS I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE. ONCE I PULLED OVER I NOTICE THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON WHICH INDICATES A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATES THAT IT'S THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THIS VEHICLE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THE THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. FORTUNATELY AT THAT TIME THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WITH THIS INCIDENT THE CAR IS OVER WARRANTY BY 300 MILES. *TR
DRIVING 70 MPH ON HWY TRUCK JUST STARTS TO STALL NO CONTROL OF GAS PEDAL CARS ALMOST CRASHED IN TO ME I WAS LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO COAST OUT OF THE WAY. TROUBLE CODE IS P2111 NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY THAT IS ON BACK ORDER FOR A FORD NATIONAL RECALL AND I HAVE TO WAIT DAYS TO GET, PRICE FOR PART IS $380 . AFTER A CALL TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAID MY CAR IS NOT RECALLED BUT FUNNY HOW THE PART NUMBER CHANGED AND IT IS THE SAME ONE THEY HAVE A RECALL ON AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE PART SINCE MY CAR IS OUT OF THE 3 YEARS 36,000 MILE WARRANTY MY TRUCK HAS 50,000 MILE. FORD HAS LOST A LONG TIME CUSTOMER !!! BUY AMERICAN MADE !!!! THANKS FORD EX OWNER OF EXPEDITION, EXPLORER, THUNDERBIRD, COUGARS, TOWN CAR, 2 CONTINENTALS NO MORE FORDS AT MY HOUSE.....!!!!!!! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NINE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL OCTOBER 26, 2013. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE CUT OUT AND SPIT AND SPUTTERED. VEHICLE RESTARTED AND WENT ABOUT A MILE AND DID THE SAME THING. AT THAT POINT A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE SHOP WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE FOOT PEDAL DID NOT WORK. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO GO. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE, WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES STARTED UP AGAIN, WITHIN A FEW BLOCKS IT DID IT AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN THE STREET TO A PARKING LOT. I DID THE SAME THING I DID EARLIER ALL I CAN DO IS COAST NO POWER IN THE GAS PEDAL JUST COAST WITH ENGINE GOING. *JS
STARTED ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT, VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT GO, HOWEVER ENGINE CONTINUED TO IDLE. WRENCH LIGHT ON DASH BOARD CAME ON. TURNED IGNITION OFF THEN STARTED VEHICLE BACK UP. VEHICLE RAN FINE AND NO CODES WERE STORED IN COMPUTER. CONDITION HAS GOTTEN SO BAD WITHIN A TWO WEEK PERIOD THAT IT HAS SET THE P2112 CODE FOR STUCK OPEN/STUCK CLOSED THROTTLE BODY. IT APPEARS AS IF THE THROTTLE BODY WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AS VEHICLE MAY STOP ON RAILROAD TRACKS, IN INTERSECTIONS, AND WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THERE IS NO WARNING WITH THIS CONDITION.
I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY FIVE YEAR OLD SON WHEN I NOTICED MY VEHICLE SEEM TO BE RUNNING ROUGH. FIRST, I NOTICED A ROUGH IDLE WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. THEN, WHILE TURNING ACCROSS ON COMING TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AT THIS POINT I WAS STILL IN THE WAY OF ON COMING TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO FINISH THE TURN. THANK GOD I DID IDLE TO SAFETY. I THEN STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND OBSERVED A VERY ROUGH IDLE AND NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AT ALL. I SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT AFTER THIRTY SECONDS AND IT RAN NORMAL AGAIN WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT OFF. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PARTS STORE TO HAVE THE THE ECM SCANNED FOR TROUBLE CODES. THE TECH COULD NOT RECOVER OR READ ANY CODES AT THAT TIME. I FOUND THAT TROUBLING AT THE TIME BUT FOUND OUT LATER THAT NOT ALL SCAN TOOLS CAN ACCESS STORED CODES. I HAD THIS OCCUR TWICE THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. I THEN CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO SCHEDULE SERVICE AND WHEN I TOLD HIM THE SYMPTOMS HE IMMEDIATELY KNEW THE PROBLEM. I ORDERED A NEW THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY PER THEIR INSTRUCTION AND ASKED IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS OR TSB'S ON THIS ISSUE IF IT'S THAT COMMON. THE DEALER CHECKED AND FOUND A TSB ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NO RECALLS. I PERSONALLY FEEL THIS IS DEFINATELY A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD TREATED AS THAT BEFORE SOMEONE DOES GET HURT OR WORSE, KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THE NEXT DAY TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND FIND OUT WHY THEY AREN'T BEING PROACTIVE WITH THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE NO KNOWN SAFETY RECALLS OR TSB'S AT THIS TIME. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT SOMETHING THEY HAD ENCOUNTERED VERY OFTEN. SINCE THEN, I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THAT IT IS VERY KNOWN AND BEING INVESTIGATED AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY ON ITS OWN AND WAS UNABLE TO START IT UP FOR A PERIOD OF TIME IN EITHER PARK OR DRIVE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED AT APPROX. 7000 MILES. EACH TIME I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP, THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE OR FIND ANY ERRORS WITHIN THE SYSTEM, SO THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT OR TRY FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING HOME AND THE CAR WENT FROM 45 MPH TO ABOUT 1 MPH, THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT WHEN SHE STEPPED ON THE GAS NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR LIMPED HOME. WE DID SOME INVESTIGATION AND FOUND SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY. WE CONTACTED GWINNETT PLACE FORD AND THEY INFORMED US THAT NO RECALL WAS IN PLACE AND WOULD NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE WITHOUT PAYMENT. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY AT THAT TIME SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION. *TR
FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 2 1/2 WEEKS, MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE HAS STALLED ON ME. TODAY IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, ALTHOUGH WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESSED ON THE PEDAL. ONCE I GOT ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND HIT THE BRAKE, MY CAR JERKED A LITTLE AND THEN SHUT OFF. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED 2 1/2 WEEKS AGO WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT OF A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THRU. AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE. I PUSHED THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED JERKING AND FINALLY STALLED ON ME JUST AS IT DID TODAY. WHEN I RESTARTED MY CAR, IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS LONGER THAN USUAL. LAST WEEK I TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE TO MY MECHANIC AND EXPLAINED THE FIRST OCCURRENCE TO HIM. AFTER HE CHECKED IT OUT HE STATED THAT IT'S A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE WHICH WILL BE EXPENSIVE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYBODY ELSE HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR FORD ESCAPE AND AS EXPECTED, I FOUND TONS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TODAY WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST $105 JUST TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR DOES NOT COVER ANY EXPENSES TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. ALTHOUGH THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY RECALLS ON ANY 2010 FORD ESCAPES THAT I COULD FIND ONLINE, I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL PLACED AS THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. DRIVING THE VEHICLE NORMALLY WHEN SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER (LIMP MODE) THE LADY IN THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME THEN SHE WENT OFF THE ROAD HERSELF. I HAD TO PULL OVER I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND WENT TO CHECK ON THE LADY IN THE OTHER VEHICLE AND LUCKILY HER AND HER VEHICLE WERE FINE,UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT GET HER NAME OR NUMBER. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IT OPERATED NORMALLY, THE THROTTLE WAS RESPONSIVE AGAIN. I DROVE ABOUT 3 MORE MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. AGAIN SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN OPERATED NORMALLY. I LATER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL CAR PARTS STORE AND HAD THEM CHECK THE CODES. THE CODES THEY GOT WERE P2111 AND P2112 THROTTLE BODY STUCK OPEN, STUCK CLOSED RESPECTIVELY. I CONTACTED A FORD SERVICE CENTER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY CAN SCHEDULE SERVICE NEXT WEEK BUT THEY HAVE SO MANY OF THESE BAD THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. SINCE THIS CAUSED A NEAR MISS I FELT COMPELLED TO REPORT IT AS WELL AS IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY SIZABLE ISSUE SINCE THE PARTS ARE DIFFICULT FOR FORD TO GET. *TR
I HAD JUST LEFT WORK YESTERDAY 0821/2013 AND WAS DRIVING MAYBE 40 MPH. MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE JUST DIED ON ME. I HAD DRIVEN BUT A HALF MILE. I COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT, TURNED IT OFF. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND ALL LOOKED OK SO I TRIED STARTING IT. AFTER SOME HESITATION, IT DID START. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO MY MECHANIC. HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG SO I PICKED IT BACK UP. IT DID IT AGAIN, ON THE HIGHWAY, ABOUT 10 MILES LATER. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY LURCH FORWARD WHILE DRIVING, THEN ON AUGUST 21ST 2013, CAR LURCHED FORWARD THEN FELT LIKE IT STALLED OUT. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WAS GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AROUND 50 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT WARNING, LOST POWER. VEHICLE DID NOT DIE, JUST HAD NO GAS POWER, HAD TO COAST OUT OF ROADWAY. THIS SAME SCENARIO HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE THEN, ALL WITHOUT WARNING AND SOMETIMES IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IN MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC. IN FEBRUARY OF 2011 I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY ROAD GOING ABOUT 30 MPH AND MY ESCAPE STARTING STALLING OUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. WAITED A FEW MINUTES STARTED IT. IT STARTED RIGHT UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. I RAN FUEL CLEANER THROUGH IT. I DID NOT HAVE ANYMORE PROBLEMS UNTIL THURSDAY AUG 15TH 2013. FORD ESCAPE 2010 STALLING. WRENCH LIGHT TURNS ON. I HAVE TO CAREFULLY GET OFF THE ROAD AND STOP THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN TURN BACK ON. IT WILL RUN OK UNTIL NEXT TIME. LOOKS LIKE EVERY 3-5 MILES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP. *TR

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A MAINTAINED SPEED, MY VEHICLE ILLUMINATED A MAINTENANCE LIGHT, AND WITHIN SECONDS THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS ON A SLIGHT HILL AT THE TIME SO I STILL HAD SOME MOMENTUM, ENOUGH TO PULL OVER OUT OF THE TRAFFIC. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, IT TOOK AN EXTRA 2-3 SECONDS TO START UP, BUT SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE, AND I DROVE TO WORK, THEN RIGHT TO THE DEALER AFTER WORK FOR REPAIRS. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, AND THAT IT IS NOW RUNNING FINE SINCE THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, AND I AM GOING TO PICK IT UP AFTER WORK TODAY. *TR
I WAS COMING TO A STOP LIGHT NEAR WORK WHEN ENGINE SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO LIMP HOME MODE. WAS IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH ONLY ONE LANE. THE YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL SLIGHTLY OVER AND AFTER COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE, WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 45MPH, THE VEHICLE'S THROTTLE DROPPED TO IDLE SPEED. THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CAR'S RPM'S TO INCREASE DESPITE PUSHING IT TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR DID NOT STALL, BUT RATHER WAS IN A SUDDEN STATE OF IDLE. AFTER CAR'S IGNITION WAS SHUT OFF, THE CAR RESTARTED WITHOUT PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY, NEARLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS IT HAPPENED IN THE MIDST OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THERE WAS NOWHERE TO MOVE THE CAR. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO COULD FIND NOTHING ABNORMAL ON THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. HOWEVER BASED ON THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY TODAY AND REPROGRAMMED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AT A COST OF OVER $500. *TR

A DIAGNOSTIC WAS RUN AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. I DROVE IT BACK AND FORTH TO WORK FOR 4 DAYS WHEN IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS TIME IN A MAJOR INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR CAUSING TRAFFIC ISSUES AND CONGESTION. WE ONCE AGAIN TOOK IT IN TODAY, 8/26/2013, THEY CHANGED THE AIR FILTER AND AGAIN SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. DROVE IT ABOUT 20 MILES WHEN IT STARTED IN AGAIN! THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STAYING ON AND THE "WRENCH" LIGHT WHICH WE FOUND OUT IS POWERTRAIN AGAIN CAME ON. THE ENGINE NEVER DIES, IN FACT IT SEEMS TO REV AT TIMES BUT THE GAS PEDDLE HAS NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE NOT ONLY FOR MY OWN SAFETY BUT FOR ALL THOSE AROUND ME. FORD IS NOT CURRENTLY SHOWING A RECALL FOR OUR VIN # BUT FROM MY RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 65MPH ON FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE'S THROTTLE DROPPED TO IDLE SPEED. THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CAR'S RPM'S TO INCREASE DESPITE PUSHING IT TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR DID NOT STALL, BUT RATHER WAS IN A SUDDEN STATE OF IDLE.THE "WRENCH" ICON FLASHED ON, THEN "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" AND MY CAR WENT FROM 65 TO 5MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. AFTER CAR'S IGNITION WAS SHUT OFF, THE CAR RESTARTED WITHOUT PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER REENTERING FREEWAY NEARLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT THE THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT NOT UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP. *TR
CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING OVER THE RAILROAD TRACK. AFTER BARELY GOT IT TO GO OVER THE RAILROAD (LUCKLY TRAIN DIDN'T COME WHILE I WAS BARELY MOVING) PULLED OVER TO SIDE AND SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED BACK UP. WRENCH LOOKING LIGHT AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON WHILE IT WAS TRYING TO STALL, IT HAPPENED 2MORE TIMES WHILE TRYING TO MAKE IT BACK HOME. AFTER FEW CHECKING AROUND IT IS CAUSED BY THE FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AT ANY SPEED. AFTER SHUTDOWN, VEHICLE RESTARTS AND RUNS FINE FOR A MINUTE OR TWO AND THEN STALLS AGAIN. *TR
DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT 36K MILES AND THEN THROTTLE PEDAL ACTED USELESS, ENGINE IDLED DOWN ROUGH. POWER TRAIN LIGHT CAME ON (WRENCH). TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, RESTART THE SUV IT TOOK LONGER TO CATCH THEN NORMAL. DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT 30 MORE MILES TILL I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND IT WAS A 670$ FIX. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED UPON ACCELERATION FROM STOP, AND LOST ALL THROTTLE FUNCTION. SURGES AT IDLE, AND INTERMITTENTLY STALLS. THROTTLE FAILED THE NEXT DAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE FAILED THROTTLE BODY SENSOR ISSUE THAT WAS FIXED BY OCTOBER 2009, BUT MY ESCAPE WAS BUILT IN DECEMBER '09 AFTER THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. *TR
WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A LOCAL 45 MPH STREET, OUR ESCAPE APPEARED TO STALL AS IF IT WERE NOT GETTING GAS. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO "BABY" THE CAR TO A LESS BUSY STREET WHERE THE CAR COULD NOT INCREASE SPEED MORE THAN ABOUT 15 MPH. THE DRIVER THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND CAR SPEED WAS ABLE TO INCREASE TO 45 MPH. WE THEN DROVE THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. WE ASKED IF IT COULD BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE THROTTLE BODY BUT WERE INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS TYPICAL OF A FORD 2010 ESCAPE TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WITH MILEAGE CLOSE TO THAT OF OUR CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED.
