THE VEHICLE FLEX FUEL SYSTEM IS HORRIBLE AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WE HAVE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND REVIEWED BY MECHANICS, WHO COME BACK WITH ONE ISSUE, THE FLEX FUEL SET UP. SO WE ORDERED AND REPLACED THE FLEX FUEL PIPE 2 TIMES NOW. THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL CONTINUES TO POP BACK ON AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS GO BY. THE CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FROM A DEALERSHIP LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. I AM SCARED TO DEATH SHE WILL CRASH WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF ON THE INTERSTATE. THE 2011 RECALL FORD ISSUED COVERED THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE, WHICH IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE EXPANDED. MY DAUGHTER JUST CALLED AND STATED THAT THE CAR SHUT OFF 5 TIMES IN THE COURSE OF A MILE. LUCKILY, SHE WAS LOCAL.
WINDOW REGULATOR ON 3 OF 4 WINDOWS HAD TO BE REPLACED. CABLE BREAKS (LOUD, STARTLING BANG), WINDOW "DROPS" AND CANNOT BE RAISED. ONE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN 2017, ONE OCCURRED WHILE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND OCCUPIED IN 2018, AND ONE OCCURRED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED AND VACANT (6/27/19).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THERE WAS A LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ABILITY. ALSO, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME TIGHT WHEN TURING IN EITHER DIRECTION. BILL KAY FORD (14633 S CICERO AVE, MIDLOTHIAN, IL 60445, (708) 388-3000) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING); ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAMO ,THEN ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED I COULDN'T MOVE TO EITHER SIDE AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT WHEN I'M OFF AND I HAVE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AGAIN,IT HAPPENED TWICE AFTER THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ,THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED,
***THE POWER STEERING JUST GOES OUT AND ITS VERY DANGEROUS!!!*** ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SCARY & DANGEROUS SITUATION TO STEER THE CAR. IT SEEMS AFTER I PULL OVER & TURN ON & OFF IT WORKS AGAIN FOR A WHILE, BUT DOES THE SAME THING AGAIN.. FORD COMPANY KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE MAKES & MODELS, BUT SAY RECALL IS NOT ON THIS ONE--(WHICH IT CLEARLY LANDS ON THE DATES & MANUFACTURING PLANT)
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN PARK OR WHEN DRIVING. MARKED TODAY GOING 45 AND ENGINE SHUT OFF.
THE SWITCH FAILS TO START THE ESCAPE. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING TO PRESS ON THE KEY AND WIGGLE IT. NOW THE CAR FAILS TO START. THIS IS NOT NECESSARILY A SAFETY ISSUE, BUE COULD LEAVE US STRANDED, WHETHER OUT ON THE ROAD, OR SOMEWHERE WE ARE NOT KNOWN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE IGNITION IS CUT OFF, AND THEN TRYING TO GET IT STARTED. HAVE ANY OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS HAD THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT COULD BE REPAIRED BUT THAT THE COST OF THE PARTS WOULD BE OVER $400.00.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAHL FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 561 THEATER RD, ONALASKA, WI 54650, (608) 779-2886, WHERE THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V222000 (POWER TRAIN), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, SHE FELL ASLEEP AND DROVE OFF THE ROAD. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE AND FLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES OVER. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP FACING THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A RIGHT HAND AND WRIST INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
POWER STEERING LOST INTERMITTENTLY. POWER STEERING MODULE ASSEMBLY WAS FIXED UNDER RECALL IN 2015 BUT HAS FAILED AGAIN. FORD WONT STAND BY THE PART THEY FIXED IT WITH. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ON THE ROAD WHEN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING DUE TO A FAILED PART.
2010 FORD ESCAPE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL MALFUNCTIONS AND SPEED DIAL FALLS TO ZERO WHILE DRIVING. AT TIMES IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL.
UNABLE TO CLOSE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR - WON'T LATCH OR CLOSE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR WAS FLASHING. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL COULD SEIZE AT ANY MOMENT. BETHLEHEM FORD (2135 W UNION BLVD, BETHLEHEM, PA 18018, (610) 867-8641) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP15001 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN DRIVING FOR AS LITTLE AS TEN MINUTES AND OTHER TIMES LONGER, MY TRUCK WILL LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING AND I WILL START TO FEEL THE TRUCK SLOW UP. THEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE I CAN ONLY GET UP TO 20 MPH. ALSO IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, WITHOUT PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IT'LL COME TO A HALT. IT DOES GO OVER 2,500 RPM ON A GOOD DAY. I CANT TAKE OFF FAST EVEN IF I WANTED TO. THE ONLY CODE THAT HAS COME UP WHEN DEALING WITH MY ISSUE IS THE CATALYIC CONVERTER. I HAVE REPLACED MY O2 SENSORS AND GOT A NEW CONVERTER ON BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I EVEN REPLACED THE THROTTLE TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP AND IT HAS NOT. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO HELP ME FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO REPUTABLE SHOPS AND MECHANIC AND SPENT A TON OF MONEY TRYING TO RESOLVE MY ISSUES. I AM FEARFUL FOR MY SAFETY AND MY SON'S SAFETY NOT KNOWING WHEN IT WILL LOSE POWER. I CANT EVEN HOLD A JOB AT THE TIME BEING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, A KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SEAL FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO FLUSH OUT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE SEAL WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 122,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED VIOLENTLY AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE B2278 STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SUNRISE FORD OF NORTH HOLLYWOOD (LOCATED AT 5500 LANKERSHIM BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 91601, (877) 510-8967); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A FEE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,173.
ISSUE WITH ABS MODULE SYSTEM- BRAKE PEDAL WAS INTERMITTENTLY SOFT WHILE DRIVING, AND BRAKES WOULD ACTIVATE LATE IN PEDAL PROGRESSION. REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER TO FIX ISSUE. ISSUE CONTINUED AND NOW HAS BECOME MORE CONSISTENT. BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BECAUSE OF A BAD ABS MODULE, AND FORD WILL NOT FIX. LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND BRAKES NO LONGER WORK PROPERLY.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. NTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:14V284000. FORD RECALL NUMBER: 14S05. CALL PLACED TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT 800-392-3673 ON 04-15-2019. REPRESENTATIVE SAID FORD WILL NOT PROVIDE NO COST SERVICE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND ANY COST WILL BE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY. NEXT STEP? CONTACT ATTORNEY?
WHILE I WAS DRIVING I HEARD A CLICK AND LOST MY POWER STEERING. IT CAME BACK AND THEN OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF MY IGNITION. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RE-STARTED IT, IT AGAIN KEPT GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN POWER AND MANUAL STEERING WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH DOWN BACK ROADS TO MY HOME.

THE CONTACT CALLED DORIAN FORD (35900 GRATIOT AVE, CLINTON TWP, MI 48035, (586) 792-4100) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP WHETHER IT BE A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, THE RPM'S OVER REV HIGHER AT THE TIME OF LEAVING FROM A STOP WHEN GAS IS GIVEN TO VEHICLE. AFTER THE VEHICLE GETS BACK UP TO SPEED THE RPM'S DROP BACK TO A NORMAL RANGE.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE CAME UP ON DASHBOARD WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE. LOSS OF POWER STEERING. VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT APPEARS DESPITE A RECALL #14S05 BEING DONE BY FIRST OWNER IN OCTOBER 2014 SAME ISSUE HAS AGAIN HAPPENED. THANKFUL THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT, NOT WHILE GOING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS USED BY OUR 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO IS STILL A FAIRLY NEW DRIVER. WHEN WE CALLED FORD THEY TOLD US SECONDARY REPAIR IS ON US SINCE RECALL WAS ALREADY PREFORMED. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING THAT SAFETY IS NOT THEIR FIRST PRIORITY; SECONDLY THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND FIXING WHAT CLEARLY SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT COULD LEAD TO A VERY DIFFERENT OUTCOME. MILEAGE TBD. UNABLE TO READ DASH WITH ERROR MESSAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE POWER STEERING WORKED MOMENTARILY AND THEN SUDDENLY TURNED BACK OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. STUART POWELL FORD LINCOLN MAZDA (255 S DANVILLE BYPASS, DANVILLE, KY 40422) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED.
POWER STEER ASSIST DISABLED EVEN AFTER FORD RECALL WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX. CAUSING VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING WITH THE OWNER NOT HAVING ABILITY TO STEER VEHICLE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. RECALL ON THE STEERING ISSUE ONLY A BAND-AID DOES NOT TRULY FIX ISSUE. WIFE DRIVING HOME IN VEHICLE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING WITH KIDS IN CAR DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, SHE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO STEER VEHICLE DUE TO THE LACK OF POWER STEERING VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. NEEDED TO MEET WIFE TO GET CAR SO I COULD DRIVE IT BACK STILL VERY DIFFICULT FOR MYSELF AND I AM A STRONG PERSON.
SUDDENLY LOST ELECTRIC STEERING WHILE IDLE BUT APPARENTLY NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL
DRIVING AT 50MPH, TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING NEARLY CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDEBT, ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST LIGHT ON. SAME PROBLEM AS 2014 RECALL BUT ACCORDING TO FORD APPARENTLY THIS VIN ISN'T COVERED. PATHETIC RESPONSE TO A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO LOOSEN AND SHAKE, IMPAIRING STEERING ABILITY. MECHANIC SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (CODE B2278), WHICH WAS COVERED BY RECALL 14S05, WHICH INCLUDED THE FACTORY AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER FORD SAYS THIS RECALL WAS VIN-SPECIFIC, SO THEY WOULD ONLY REPAIR SOME OF THE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM.
MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE WAS PART OF RECALL 14S05 WHICH DEALT WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL IN 2014 WHEN I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING BUT AFTER RECEIVING THE NOTICE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PSCM. THE POWER STEERING ACTUALLY FAILED THIS YEAR WHILE MY WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWN. IT WAS NECESSARY TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AT A COST OF $1265.43 WHICH FORD REFUSES TO PAY EVEN THOUGH THIS REPAIR IS SPECIFICALLY LISTED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. HAD I NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I FIRST RECEIVED THE NOTICE, THE COST WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THE STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN ON A SIDE STREET. I CAN PROVIDE ALL RELEVANT DOCUMENTATION.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MATTHEWS FORD LINCOLN (610 E PERKINS AVE, SANDUSKY, OH 44870, (877) 395-3736) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
DROVE TO SCHOOL EVERYTHING OKAY, CAME OUT AFTER PRACTICE AND 2010 FORD ESCAPE WOULD NOT TURN WHEN PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPOT. THE WHEEL WOULD CLICK EACH TIME YOU TURNED A QUARTER OF A TURN RIGHT OR LEFT. AFTER RECEIVING ASSISTANCE, LEARNED THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND NO POWER STEERING. TOOK TO SPARKS AUTOREPAIR (1665 SCHERER PKWY, ST CHARLES, MO 63303) THEY DIAGNOSED A STEERING COLUMN COMPUTER FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE COULD LOCK UP THE STEERING AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. AS A VEHICLE OWNER, I AM FORCED TO FIX IT. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, SEEMS LIKE THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN JUST MYSELF EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE ON PARTICULAR VINS THERE WAS A RECALL. REPORTING THE ISSUE OF A SERIOUS STEERING ISSUE IS PRETTY IMPORTANT. THIS ISN'T A SIMPLE FIX. BE SAFE 2010 ESCAPE OWNER/OPERATORS. WE WERE LUCKY NO ONE WAS HURT.
MY ENGINE LOCKED OIL LEAKING BATTERY DIES AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON SUV SHAKES REAR WINDSHIELD WHIPPERS DRAIN BATTERY CONSTANT JUMPS AND ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET AND I WENT TO TURN AND ALMOST DID NOT MAKE THE TURN BECAUSE MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAD NO WARNING OR NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH THAT CAME ON TO TELL ME. IT WAS VERY SCARY. WHEN I GOOGLED THE ISSUE, I CAME ACROSS A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING AND GOING THROUGH THE SAME DEAL.
WHILE DRIVING ON PAVED ROAD NOT TURNING STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AGGRESSIVELY. BOB POYNTER FORD, INC (526 S JACKSON PARK DR, SEYMOUR, IN 47274, (812) 522-2040) DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STERRING WHEEL ASSIST DOES NOT WORK WHILE ON A CITY STREET
VEHICLE STEERING FIRST FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH. A POWER ON/OFF RESTART OF THE VEHICLE RESTORED POWER STERRING ONCE. 4 DAYS LATER, STEERING FAILED AS THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED ON WITH A "POWER STEERING FAILURE" (OR SIMILAR) MESSAGE ON THE CENTER DASH. THIS BEHAVIOR IS EXTREMELY SIMILAR TO THE BEHAVIOR THAT RECALL 14S05 WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX, BUT THE FORD AND THE DEALER IS CLAIMING THE SOFTWARE UPDATE DONE IN 2014 WAS SUFFICIENT AND WON'T HONOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. I STRONGLY THINK NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO DO AN ADDITIONAL RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH ON A BUSY ROAD IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, VERY DIFFICULT DRIVING AFTERWARDS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD A RECALL REPAIRED REGARDING THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST ON JUNE 11, 2015 AT VARSITY FORD (3480 JACKSON AVE, ANN ARBOR, MI 48103, (734) 996-2300), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,057.
WHILE DRIVING ALONG 2 LANE ROADWAY AT 45 MPH IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER STEERING, THIS NEARLY CAUSED A HEAD ON COLLISION
MESSAGE SAYING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" THEN LOST ALL POWER STEERING. STARTED CAR UP TO DRIVE, MESSAGE CAME ON MESSAGE CENTER, WENT TO MOVE VEHICLE, THEN HAD NO POWER STEERING AND WENT STRAIGHT OUT INTO ROAD. NEEDS TO BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, SINCE IT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING MY DAUGHTER HAD TO PUT THE FLASHER ON AND MUSCLE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE LAST TIME SHE WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. AT THE SAME TIME THE RADIO AND FDIM WOULD COME ON ERRATICALLY AND REALLY LOUD. TOOK THE CAR TO LARRY H MILLER FORD IN SLC UTAH THEY CHARGED HER 90.00 WHICH SHE NEVER AGREED TO, REPROGRAMMED THE CAR ONLY AND REPLACED NO PARTS. LARRY MILLER FORD SENT MY DAUGHTER OUT WITH A CAR THAT IS NOT SAFE, THE RADIO AND FDIM STILL GO OFF AND ON IN A STARTLING FASHION AND KNOWING THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL MOST LIKELY OCCUR AGAIN. I JUST WANT THE CAR FIXED SO ALL SAFETY HAZARDS ARE ADDRESSED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
A VIBRATION SPORADICALLY OCCURS IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN IDLING MOSTLY BUT NOT ONLY. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS RELATED TO THE A/C UNIT BUT IT HAPPENS WHETHER ON OR OFF. TEMPERATURES ARE NOT AFFECTED ON GAGES. I BELIEVE THIS WAS WHY THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 55,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN 2018. THE VIBRATION OCCURS WHEN MOVING OR STATIONARY WHEN IT HAPPENS ITS SEEMS COMPLETELY RANDOM. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING NOTICEABLY FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. AT LEAST NOTICEABLY. PROBABLY UNRELATED BUT THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS HAD SOMETHING A LITTLE OFF ABOUT THE ENGINE WHEN I BOUGHT IT. IT SEEMED A LITTLE LOUDER THAN IT SHOULD BE AND NOT AS SMOOTH I THOUGHT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. SO IT MIGHT BEEN AN ISSUE THE WHOLE TIME BUT BECOMING MORE NOTICEABLE. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT USUALLY HAPPENS FOR 30 SECONDS TO A MINUTE BUT HAS LASTED LONGER. ONCE IT WOULDN'T GO AWAY AT ALL UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE NOT AS WELL AS I AM NOW SINCE MORE TIME HAS PASSED AND THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A TROTTLE BODY VALVE ISSUE I READ ABOUT AND THEY SAID NO THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THAT. READING FORUMS IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING CONTROL. IT IS CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO VIBRATE SO MAYBE IT IS A POWER STEERING ISSUE.

ABS SYSTEM FAILURE WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH AND NO CODES SCANNED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR BARELY COULD STOP THE VEHICLE. HAD ABS SYSTEM REPLACED BY A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS AS IT HAPPENS ON THESE CARS FREQUENTLY FROM WHAT I HEARD. VERY DANGEROUS!
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WHEN I CLOSED THE LIFTGATE WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY! WASN'T SHUT HARD, ACTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SLAM ONE OF THESE LIFGATES. THERE WERE NO OBSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE GLASS.
THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN U PUT IN DRIVE AND WON'T GO ANYWHERE AND WANTS TO ROLL AWAY IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ISN'T APPLIED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATES WHEN U STEP ON THE PEDAL
