I WAS DRIVING HOME MID DAY TURNING ON TO THE MAIN STREET WHEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT IS A TIGHT TURN AND LUCKY I HAD A HOLD OF MY STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE IT TOOK EVERYTHING I HAD TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION AND NOT HIT THE PILLAR FOR A RESTAURANT ON THIS STREET CORNER. AS THIS HAPPENED I DID HEAR AN ALERT GOING OFF IN MY CAR AFTER THE SITUATION WAS UNDER CONTROL I NOTICED MY DASH HAD A WARNING ON IT SAYING POWER STEERING FAILURE. MY THOUGHT WAS HOW STUPID IS THAT I ALREADY KNOW THIS STEERING IS OUT. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO IN THE PAST AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE STEERING, BUT BEFORE I HAD CALLED THEM I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MY CAR DID INDEED HAVE A PAST RECALL FROM 2014 FOR THIS STEERING PROBLEM. WHILE ON THE PHONE W THE DEALERSHIP I INFORMED THEM OF THIS RECALL AND THEY INFORMED THAT THIS RECALL WAS REPAIRED ON MY CAR IN OCTOBER 2014 WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE. ACCORDING TO WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS SOFTWARE WAS JUST TO INSTALL A WARNING CHIME & THE DASH WARNING. I WANT TO KNOW HOW THIS SOFTWARE FIXES THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I COULD'VE BEEN IN A BAD ACCIDENT IF WAS A WEAKER PERSON. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP SO I WILL BE HAVING THIS FIXED AT LOCAL SHOP AT A COST TO ME OF APPROXIMATELY $1,000. FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPAIR THIS DANGEROUS MECHANICAL ISSUE OR REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS WHO ALREADY HAD THIS REPAIRED. WHY WASN'T FORD REQUIRED IN THE 1ST RECALL TO DO THIS REPAIR CORRECTLY. I BEG YOU BEFORE THERE ARE MORE INJURIES OR EVEN DEATHS TO RECALL THIS AGAIN AND REQUIRE FORD TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I DID FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD MOTOR WHERE IT SEEMED THEY COULD'VE CARED LESS. I DO NOT HAVE AN INVOICE AS OF TODAY ONLY RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE AT THIS TIME FOR REPAIRS. AS SOON AS THESE REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE I WILL SAVE A COPY FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
THE "CHECK FUEL FILL INLET" CAME ON A COUPLE OF MILES AFTER FILLING GAS AND STAYED ON. AFTER A FEW MORE MILES, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON EVER SINCE. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM 4 MONTHS AGO, BUT MY MECHANIC SAID IT IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE COMPUTER SO WE REPLACED THE COMPUTER. BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE FOR SOLUTIONS AND IT SEEMS MANY OTHER FORD ESCAPE USERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL AND NOTICED FUEL LEAKING ABOVE THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL. AVIS FORD (29200 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MI 48034, (248) 355-7500) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED AT THE TOP. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN LEFT AND RIGHT AND THE POWER ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LAFAYETTE FORD LINCOLN (5202 RAEFORD RD, FAYETTEVILLE, NC 28304, (910) 424-0281) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE PART BEING BACKORDERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS 16640104. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN ONTO A SIDE STREET, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO KISSELBACK FORD (1118 13TH ST, ST CLOUD, FL 34769, (407) 892-5477) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR ELECTRICAL FAULT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL UNKNOWN DEALERS AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
MY POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE LITE IS COMING ON AND MY STEERING IS REAL TIGHT . IT TURNS OK WHEN MOVING BUT REAL HARD TO TURN WHEN NOT MOVING ..HEARD THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT IT SEEMS NOT FOR MY FORD
EXITING HIGHWAY WHEN POWER STEERING WAS LOST. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT OFF VEHICLE FOR A MINUTE OR LESS. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING RESUMED. CONTACTED DEALER THEY SAID BRING IT IN FOR INSPECTION. COULD FIND NO FAULTS. SAID STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED REPLACING BUT WASN'T COVERED BY RECALL FOR SAME PROBLEM BECAUSE RECALL STOPPED IN 2014. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD STILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT AND TO FIX IT. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 52000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR RECALL IN 2014 BUT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND AT THAT TIME.
POWER STEERING FAILED WHEN ARRIVING TO JOB SITE AS I PULLED IN THE DASH BOARD FLASHED POWER STEERING FAULT AND THAT WAS IT NO MORE POWER STEERING. NOTICED THAT ON THE WAY TO WORK HAD A GHOAST STEERING THE STEERING WHEEL MOVED ON ITS OWN IT TWETCHED ON OWN 50 MILES LATER IT WENT OUT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. HELLO, I JUST SPENT 1/2 HOUR WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON THE PHONE ABOUT THEIR FORD ESCAPE 2010 AND THE FAULTY ABS MODULE. I ALMOST HAD A WRECK BECAUSE OF THIS WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM FOR ESCAPE AND OTHER MODELS. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD DEPRESS ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WHILE VERY SLOWLY DECELERATING THE CAR, I OFTEN HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO BUILD SOME PRESSURE IN ORDER TO STOP. CLEARLY, AN ABS FAILURE! DO WE HAVE TO WORK WITH LAWYERS TO GET THAT RESOLVES OR START A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN AND OTHER BLOGS?? WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. IT'S NOT THE FIRST PROBLEM WITH FORD ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE REAL BAD WHEN DRIVING, PARKED, AND WHEN JUST SITTING AND NOW IT IT SAYING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IS AT FAULT AND I CAN NOT MOVE MY WHEEL AT ALL I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE WORK
WHILE I WAS DRIVING DURING COLDER WEATHER SUDDENLY IT LOST COMPLETE STEERING POWER THIS RESULTED IN VERY HARD STEERING. THIS OCCURRED A FEW MORE TIMES. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING AND NO WARNING LIGHTS DURING THE FAILURE.
TAKATA RECALL THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM QUIT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I ALMOST HIT A CAR HEAD ON. WHEN I LOOKED UP HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ESCAPE WITH THE SAME MODEL YEAR AS MINE. MY ESCAPE WAS BUILT OUT OF THE KC PLANT WERE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED.... THE BAD PART MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL
THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A COUNTY RD AND I LOST POWER STEERING. AFTER GETTING OFF THE ROAD AND PARKING THE CAR I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. I HAD TO CALL MY DAUGHTER TO DO IT. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS RECALLED AND I HAD IT DONE AUG OF 2014. THEY MUST OF REPLACED IT WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART BECAUSE 4 YEARS LATER THE SAME PART WENT IT COST ME $1,290.38 TO REPLACE IT. A PART CALLED CL8Z 3C529 D :COLUMN ASY STEERING 1@$834.28.
FUEL LEAK BETWEEN THE TANK AND END OF THE FUEL FILLER. VEHICLE IS PARKED AND LEAKING. I NOTICED IT BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE THE FUEL ON THE FLOOR AND STRONG FUEL ODOR EVEN IN THE DRIVEWAY NOT TO MENTION IF YOU HAVE IT IN YOUR GARAGE.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE WHEN A BEEP SOUNDED AND MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME UP. I WENT TO BRANFORD (CONNECTICUT) FORD AND THEY SAID THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED REPLACING. WITHOUT THIS IT COULD JAM AND CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. CAR ALSO HAD STRAINED STARTING. THEY SAID BATTERY WAS WEAK. REPLACED BATTERY. NEXT DAY SAME PROBLEM STARTING. OBVIOUSLY NOT THE NEW BATTERY. .
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND RESULTED IN EXTREME DIFFICULT DRIVING AND DANGER. I CALLED FORD AND SPENT OVER $400 HAVING DEALERSHIPS LOOK AT IT AND GIVE ME $2,000 ESTIMATES AND SAYING IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I SPOKE WITH CORPORATE FORD AT A POINT WHO STATED THE RECALL WAS ALREADY COMPLETED IN 2014, HOWEVER, THE SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS AND CREATES A STRONG DANGER TO DRIVE. THE HAVE REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL THAT THEY THEMSELVES CLAIM WAS FIXED, AND I'M LEFT WITH A FAULTY AND DANGEROUS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO KEEP DRIVING IT TO GET TO WORK. WHY WON'T THEY HONOR THEIR RECALL? IT IS OBVIOUSLY THE EXACT PROBLEM THEY CLAIM TO HAVE FIXED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP15001 (STEERING) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), BUT THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT CONSUMER STATE IT WAS THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. *JB
RECENTLY I'VE NOTICED ISSUES WITH MY POWER STEERING. I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR CERTAIN ESCAPES, BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL, DESPITE BEING FROM THE SAME PLANT. I HEAR A CLICK AND THEN MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THERE IS A CLICK RIGHT BEFORE IT GOES OUT, AND A CLICK RIGHT BEFORE IT COMES BACK ON. IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THIS LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT FIRST LASTED ONLY A FEW SECONDS WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT LAST WEEK, BUT JUST IN THAT SHORT PERIOD, THE TIME HAS INCREASED AT EACH OCCURRENCE. I'VE ONLY DRIVEN MY CAR THREE TIMES IN THAT WEEK, AND AT THE LAST OCCURRENCE, THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT FOR CLOSER TO A MINUTE. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHILE I AM IN MOTION, AND HAPPENS WHETHER I AM TURNING OR NOT AND SHOWS NO DISCRETION WHETHER I AM ON A CITY STREET GOING 30 MPH OR HIGHWAY GOING 55-65 MPH.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO LATHAM FORD (637 COLUMBIA STREET EXT, LATHAM, NY 12110) AND WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 231,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE USING MANUAL STEERING. THE DEALER (RICE FORD-LINCOLN, 436 W 250N, WARSAW, IN 46582) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S PREVIOUS OWNER BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) IN AUGUST OF 2017. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 223,000.

THE VEHICLE PULLED TO ONE SIDE WHEN THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WAS VERY RIGID. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALL AMERICAN FORD OF PARAMUS (375 N J-17, PARAMUS, NJ 07652) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED ON AUGUST 4, 2016 BY CUTTER FORD (98-015 KAMEHAMEHA HWY, AIEA, HI 96701) REGARDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), BUT THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT NO REPAIRS WERE REQUIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND I STARTED IT. THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' ALERT SOUNDED AND DISPLAYED. I COULD NOT PHYSICALLY STEER THE CAR AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME. WE TOOK IT TO OUR USUAL MECHANIC, WHO RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND DTC B2278. HE DID NOT WANT TO REPLACE IT, AND SUGGESTED WE LOOK INTO A RECALL. HE EVEN PROVIDED THE RECALL NUMBER WHICH APPEARED APPLICABLE. OUR VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE KANSAS CITY PLANT DURING THE MANUFACTURE TIME FRAME OF RECALL 14S05, BUT OUR VIN DOES NOT SHOW ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. WE BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN RECALL 14S05, SINCE THAT SPECIFIC RECALL WAS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, KNOWN TO OCCUR ON VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AT THAT PLANT DURING THAT TIMESPAN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE EXACT REASON MY VEHICLE IS NOT CURRENTLY INCLUDED IN RECALL 14S05. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW SPECIFICALLY WHICH CRITERIA IS USED TO DECIDE WHICH VIN NUMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS RECALL.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-20 MPH. CODE B2278 STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS CODE FROM DIAGNOSTICS.FORD'S 14S05 RECALLED ONLY THE 2008-2011 ESCAPES BUILT AT THE KANSAS CITY PLANT, BUT MINE THEY SAY IS NOT COVERED. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECTIVE FORD PART!!!!!!
POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON COULDN'T TURN STEERING WHEEL..WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY TRYING TO TURN OR STEER
POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS. 139XXX MILES ON CAR. FORD KNOWS THIS STEERING COLUMN IS FAULTY. ALL PLANTS, NOT JUST KC PLANT, SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FORD 14S05 RECALL. $1862 TO REPAIR THAT REQUIRES FORD ONLY CALIBRATION TOOL
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED RESULTING IN DANGEROUS DRIVING WITH MINIMAL STEERING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ON MOST VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODE, HOWEVER FORD IS REFUSING TO HONOR THE RECALL ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME ISSUE AROSE. I WAS DRIVING ON A STREET WHEN IT HAPPENED, AND IT GAVE OUT SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING.
STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY COULD NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL. ALMOST CRASHED. VERY STIFF, WHILE TURNING.
DROVE TO WORK EVERYTHING OKAY, CAME OUT TO VISIT A CUSTOMER STARTED UP AND NO POWER STEERING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITH THE POWER ASSIST FAULT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STEER THE WHEEL AND DRIVE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NO RECALL WAS UNDER THE VIN PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE#(25442840). WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL PULLS EXTREMELY HARD TO THE LEFT.I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND THANKFULLY NOT ON THE HIGHWAYNOW EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED THE STEERING AUTOMATICALLY (AND BY IT'S SELF) TURNS HARD AND FAST ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT. THIS HAPPENED AT ABOUT 156,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD MECHANIC BUT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THERE ARE NO CODES OR INDICATOR FAULT LIGHTS OR WARNINGS. IT WS MADE AT THE KANSAS CITY PLANET BUT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS. I GUESS SOMEONE WILL HAVE TO DIE OR WORSE TAKE THE LIFE OF SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION.ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORD'S ELECTRONIC STEERING AND STILL NOTHING BEING DONE. MAKES YOU WONDER WHO'S REALLY CALLING THE SHOTS HERE.

I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS IN EL PASO, TX AND THEY SAY THAT THERE'S NO RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NOT, THERE ARE SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT. WHY? MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME IT OCCURRED THERE WAS NO WARNING IT JUST WENT OUT--THE POWER STEERING. I HAVE KEPT UP WITH MY CARS MAINTENANCE AND BEFORE MY HUSBAND LEFT OUT OF TOWN I MADE SURE THAT THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND ALL WAS GOOD WITH THE VEHICLE. I ASKED THE FORD DEALER IF IT NEEDED POWER STEERING AND THEY SAID NO ITS ELECTRICAL. NOW I'VE BEEN DRIVING MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE WITH NO POWER STEERING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 299,450.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 211,000.
THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON, RED BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, AUDIBLE ALARM AND BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE HEV STOPS WORKING AND THE GAS MOTOR DOESN'T SHUTOFF. THIS HAS HAPPEN A NUMBER OF TIMES FORD DEALER "NO CODES FOUND, UNABLE TO DUPLICATE". HAVE HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB DONE, WITH UPGRADED PARTS AS RECOMMENDED. PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES TO COME AND GO INTERMITTENTLY. TALK TO OTHER FORD ESCAPE HYBRID OWNERS AND ALL SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM AND THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED.

WHILE TAKING THE KIDS TO SCHOOL, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS A BUSY ROAD WHEN, WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE STOPPED TURNING, MADE AN ALARM SOUND AND SEEMED TO DECREASE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN JUST BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC ARRIVED AT THE INTERSECTION. AS THE WHEELS STRAIGHTENED OUT, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. AS I MADE THE NEXT RIGHT HAND TURN, IT AGAIN CUT OUT IN MID-TURN AND THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' MESSAGE FLASHED ON THE DASH. DURING THE NEXT LEFT-HAND TURN, IT AGAIN CUT OUT MID-TURN BUT THIS TIME I WAS EXPECTING IT AND HAD NO TROUBLE FORCING THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THIS TIME THE FAULT MESSAGE STAYED ON AND THERE WAS NO LONGER ANY POWER ASSIST. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A PARTS STORE EXPECTING IT TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP OR A LOW FLUID ISSUE ONLY TO DISCOVER IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT THE POWER ASSIST IS ELECTRICAL, NOT HYDRAULIC. I ASKED THE PARTS STORE EMPLOYEE TO RUN A SCAN ON THE VEHICLE AND WHEN HE SAW THE VEHICLE/MESSAGE HE TOLD ME THE SCAN WOULDN'T DO ANY GOOD WITH THAT ISSUE AND IT WAS GOING TO BE A VERY EXPENSIVE TRIP TO THE MECHANIC. WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' MESSAGE STAYED ON WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE RECALLS FOR 2010 FORD ESCAPES FROM THE KANSAS CITY PLANT, BUT A CHECK OF THE FORD RECALL DATABASE SHOWS NO SUCH RECALL FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 96,823 MILES, I WOULD NOT EXPECT A CRITICAL SAFETY COMPONENT TO UNEXPECTEDLY FAIL. THIS VEHICLE IS NORMALLY DRIVEN BY MY GIRLFRIEND (WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE VEHICLE) AND WHILE I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN IN THOSE CONDITIONS WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT, I AM NOT CERTAIN SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO SO.

WAS FINE ON TRIP BACK TO MICHIGAN BUT WONDERING WHEN IT IS GOING TO GO OUT ON ME AGAIN.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE JUST UNDER 2 YEARS AGO ONGOING ISSUES THE CAR WILL STALL OUT/DIE WHILE DRIVING AC/HEAT CAUSES ISSUES I HAVE HAD A TON OF WORK DONE AND THE ISSUES ARE REOCCURRING WHILE DIVING ON CITY STREET IT HAS STALLED OUT AS WELL AS IN PARK. THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE IS UNKNOWN
WHILE DRIVING OUR CAR, IN GOOD WEATHER, (110,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE) FLASHED ERROR MESSAGE "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" IT LOST ALL ASSISTED BRAKES AND WE HAD TO MASH THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR TO BRAKE ADEQUATELY. FORTUNATELY WE WEREN'T ON A HIGHWAY OR IN ANY TRAFFIC OTHERWISE THIS WOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. FORD IS SAYING IT'LL COST UPWARDS OF 5K TO HAVE THE BRAKES FIXED, IT'S AN ELECTRONIC MODULE THAT THEY BELIEVE IS DEFECTIVE, THEY AREN'T SURE IF THIS WILL FULLY FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FORD ESCAPE HYBRIDS. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY FORD AS OBVIOUSLY ANY LOSS OF BRAKE FUNCTION IS UNACCEPTABLE IN MY OPINION.
I WAS DRIVING MY SON HOME FROM SCHOOL IN MY 2010 ESCAPE, I WENT TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND AS I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN SPEED, MY VEHICLE DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE GAS AND I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO STALL. A WRENCH APPEARED ON THE PANEL AND SO DID THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AGAIN AND THE PURGE VALVE AGAIN. I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED IN 2015 FOLLOWING THE RECALL AND THE PURGE VALVE REPLACED IN 2016. MY COMPLAINT IS THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY FREE THE FIRST TIME, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY THIS TIME IF IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING?
