There is oil leak that cannot be found. I have taken that truck to 3 different mechanics, conducted 3 different diagnostics using the dye and everything and the source of this leak cannot be found and is causing me problems.
My vehicle is not able to pass the inspection and I have had a brand new gas tank put in and the engine lights are always on. I can’t get a new tag for the car and I have been pulled over by police 5 times now and received a citation due to this issue. Please if possible could you help me with this situation. The contact also stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was flashing on and off. The vehicle was previously repaired, and the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 265,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON COUNTY ROAD (CR475) @ 50 MPH EXPERIENCED DANGEROUS LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMEON. TURNED ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED CLEARS LIGHTS FOR AWHILE, THEN THEY REAPPEARED WHILE DRIVING. CALLED FORD DEALER (OCALA, FL) TOLD ME ISSUE IS KNOW TO THEM BUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN HAD EXPIRED @ 4 MONTHS PRIOR FOR MY VEHICLE! I PURCHASED AND REGISTERED VEHICLE 12/2015, HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICES OF THIS ISSUE. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS THROTTLE ACTUATOR FAILURE WAS A DANGEROUS ISSUE SAID I SHOULD REPLACE IT MYSELF "IF I CHOSE TO" AND KEEP RECEIPTS "IN CASE THEY ISSUE A RECAL IN THE FUTURE" FORD DEALER GAVE ME COMPLIANT # CAS26375302.. SPENT $400 TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION IF IT OCCURS AT HIGH SPEED OR IN AN INTERSECTION. I GUESS FORD WILL WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT BEFORE ACKNOWLEDGING THE SEVERITY OF THIS THROTTLE MALFUNCTION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS, SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO PARK AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO START, BUT IT DID NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A FRIEND OF THE CONTACT'S FAMILY GOOGLED THE FAILURE, WHICH INDICATED TO RESET THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH LOCATED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH WAS RESET AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING AND SLOWING DOWN, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
THE VEHICLE FLEX FUEL SYSTEM IS HORRIBLE AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WE HAVE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND REVIEWED BY MECHANICS, WHO COME BACK WITH ONE ISSUE, THE FLEX FUEL SET UP. SO WE ORDERED AND REPLACED THE FLEX FUEL PIPE 2 TIMES NOW. THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL CONTINUES TO POP BACK ON AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS GO BY. THE CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FROM A DEALERSHIP LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. I AM SCARED TO DEATH SHE WILL CRASH WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF ON THE INTERSTATE. THE 2011 RECALL FORD ISSUED COVERED THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE, WHICH IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE EXPANDED. MY DAUGHTER JUST CALLED AND STATED THAT THE CAR SHUT OFF 5 TIMES IN THE COURSE OF A MILE. LUCKILY, SHE WAS LOCAL.

THE "CHECK FUEL FILL INLET" CAME ON A COUPLE OF MILES AFTER FILLING GAS AND STAYED ON. AFTER A FEW MORE MILES, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON EVER SINCE. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM 4 MONTHS AGO, BUT MY MECHANIC SAID IT IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE COMPUTER SO WE REPLACED THE COMPUTER. BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE FOR SOLUTIONS AND IT SEEMS MANY OTHER FORD ESCAPE USERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IDLING VERY ROUGHLY WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE IN DRIVE. WHILE IN PARK MY VEHICLE IDLES NORMALLY BUT AFTER COMING TO A STOP IT BEGINS IDLING SO ROUGH IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS SHAKING.

ON SUNDAY, APRIL 22, 2018, WHILE ASCENDING A GRADE ON THE PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY IN NEWPORT BEACH, CA, THE 'YELLOW WRENCH' WARNING LIGHT ON MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY DEACCELERATED AND DID NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. AT THAT MOMENT I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF A 3-LANE HIGHWAY WITH OTHER VEHICLES APPROACHING FROM BEHIND AND PASSING AT 50 MPH. MY VEHICLE SLOWED TO ABOUT 5 MPH AS I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT WHERE I HOPED IT HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM THAT I COULD MAKE IT TO THE TOP OF THE GRADE AND EXIT THE HIGHWAY. THE RIGHT-HAND EXIT WAS DOWNHILL AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND CREEP INTO A MARKET PARKING LOT WHERE I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO CALM DOWN. FROM THE VEHICLE MANUAL I LEARNED THAT THE 'YELLOW WRENCH' INDICATED 'THROTTLE CONTROL OR DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEMS.' AS IT TURNED OUT IT WAS A SUNDAY MORNING AND I DID NOT HAVE A PHONE WITH ME SO I DECIDED TO TRY RESTARTING THE ENGINE. IT STARTED AND THE YELLOW WRENCH DID NOT ILLUMINATE. AFTER A SHORT TEST DRIVE IN THE PARKING LOT I DECIDED TO CANCEL MY ERRANDS AND TRY TO RETURN HOME, A DISTANCE OF A FEW MILES. I DROVE AT 25-30 MPH ON RESIDENTIAL SIDE STREETS AND MADE IT HOME WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT AND REPORT BACK. LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND THEY HAD A REPLACEMENT PART. WHEN I CAME IN TO PICK UP THE CAR I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO CHARGE BECAUSE THE REPAIR 'WAS UNDER WARRANTY!' THIS WAS A BIG SURPRISE, SINCE I HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF A POTENTIAL PROBLEM NOR OF A WARRANTY EXTENSION. SUDDEN DEACCELERATION WOULD BE DANGEROUS ON A FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, NOT MITIGATED BY "LIMP HOME" CAPABILITY
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING SHUTS OFF. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PULL SAFELY OVER AND NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AS THIS WAS DURING MY NORMAL MORNING RUSH HOUR COMMUTE. IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. MECHANIC SAID HE TEST DROVE THE CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE SUDDEN SHUT DOWN. ADDITIONALLY, THIS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SAME THING SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR SHUTS DOWN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR AND CHECK FUEL MESSAGE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CHAPMAN FORD OF HORSEMAN DEALER WHO READ THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE AND CLEARED IT TO HAVE THE MESSAGE AND WARNING INDICATOR DISABLED. SHORTLY AFTER, THE SAME WARNING INDICATOR AND MESSAGE RETURNED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO VERIFIED THE SAME DIAGNOSTIC CODE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WARNING INDICATOR AND MESSAGE WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY CONTINUE UNTIL THE RECALL REMEDY WAS COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER OF 2017. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
ESCAPE RANDOMLY STALLS OUT AND IS UNRESPONSIVE. CAN BE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, A MILE FOR HOME OR ON 45MPH STREETS. UNABLE TO REPRODUCE BUT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. FORD WILL NOT FIX BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A CAR RANDOMLY STALL OUT ON ANY STREET AND MANUFACTURER NOT WILLING OR CAN'T FIX. HAVE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR FORD ESCAPES BUT NO RESOLUTION AND NO HELP FROM FORD. I'VE CONTACTED DEALERSHIPS AND FORD SERVICE WITH SAME DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE. KEEP SPENDING MONEY HAVING DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT IN HOPES THEY CAN REPRODUCE IT. NOT A GOOD USE OF ANYONE'S TIME OR MONEY TO DO THIS WHEN THIS SEEMINGLY IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF BASED ON MY RESEARCH.
