MY STEERING KEEPS GOING OUT ON ME TO WHERE I CANNOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE TO ME WITHIN 20 MINUTES. I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND I HAVE TO PUT ON MY FOUR WAYS PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND THEN TURN IT OFF AND ON AND IT WORKS AGAIN.
SMALL SURGES JUST AFTER STOPS. TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. JULY 2012 SHOWED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, GAS PEDAL TOTALLY DEAD, ENGINE AND CAR STILL RUNNING. TURN OFF AND RESTART AND ALL CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS GO AWAY AND CAR ACTS NORMALLY. DEALERSHIP FOUND NO CODES. JUNE 2013 AGAIN TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THIS TIME POWERTRAIN LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE CAR HAS TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, GAS PEDAL TOTALLY DEAD, ENGINE AND CAR STILL RUNNING. TURN OFF AND RESTART AND ALL POWERTRAIN LIGHTS GO AWAY AND CAR ACTS NORMALLY. THIS LOSS OF POWER HAS HAPPENED 15-20 TIMES TO DATE FROM JULY 2012 TO JULY 2013. *TR
-HARSH JERKING WHILE FOOT ON BRAKE AND SHIFTING FROM ANY GEAR TO DRIVE, IT'S AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION -AT THE SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, BRAKING FOR THE STOP SIGN, IT JERKED FORWARD FIRST BEFORE SPEED WAS REDUCED FORTUNATELY, IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS TRANSMISSION CENTER SUPPORT DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT AND IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED 14.5 MONTHS AFTER I TOOK OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD ABOUT 9,330 MILES ON IT. IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IT JERKED FORWARD BEFORE SPEED WAS REDUCED AND FOR A NEW VEHICLE TO HAVE "TRANSMISSION CENTER SUPPORT DAMAGE" - CERTAINLY NOT CONFIDENT THAT IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN BEFORE 20,000 MILES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A SATURDAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING. COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND I HAD TO FIND A WAY TO QUICKLY PULL THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES, TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN WITH NO SUCCESS.THEN I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND TOWED THE CAR TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTING WRONG WITH THE CAR, JUST THE FUEL INJECTION NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER , I EXPERIENCED THE SAME EPISODE. MY HUSBAND BOTH SOME FUEL INJECTION CLEANER AGAIN, BUT THE CAR STILL STOLES. I DO DRIVE A LOT WITH TWO CHILDREN, AND I AM CONSTANTLY CONCERN SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN ON THE ROAD. *TR
WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKE TO STOP AT RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, ENGINE SURGES WITH FORCED ACCELERATION. MUST HIT THE BRAKE HARD TO HOLD THE VEHICLE FROM GOING ON ITS OWN. SURGE LASTS A LONG TIME AND I MUST PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. LAST TIME CAR WAS STILL SURGING WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, HAD TO TURN OFF CAR AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY CANNOT FIX THE VEHICLE UNLESS THEY CAN SEE THIS HAPPEN. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE MIDDLE LANE WHEN SUDDENLY, WITH NO WARNING, WE WERE NO LONGER ABLE TO GET ENOUGH THROTTLE TO CONTINUE MOVING FORWARD. WE HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WERE ALMOST REAR-ENDED, I REALLY THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO BE KILLED. IT IS A VERY SCARY SITUATION, GOING FROM 55 MPH TO NOTHING. THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED COMPLETELY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THIS I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME EXPERIENCE, INCLUDING MY SISTERS 2010 FORD ESCAPE WITH ONLY 45000 MILES ON IT. I HAD JUST HAD MY 30,000 MILE SERVICE DONE ON MY VEHICLE TWO WEEKS PRIOR AND ASKED THEM TO PLEASE CHECK THE THROTTLE BODY SINCE IT HAD HAPPENED TO MY SISTER, AND IT WAS FINE AT THAT TIME. I BELIEVE SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. WHEN I ASKED WHAT WAS TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN I WAS TOLD, "NOTHING, IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AT ANY TIME". WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT, I WAS TOLD,"I HAVE BEEN WAITING ON A RECALL ON THIS FOR TWO YEARS." I WAS TOLD THIS FROM A FORD SERVICE PERSON AT THE FORD PLACE THAT REPAIRED MY VEHICLE IN INDIANA. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO FORD AT THE 800-392-FORD NUMBER THAT THE SAME FORD SERVICE WORKER GAVE ME WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS SOME PLACE I COULD CALL ABOUT THIS SITUATION TO HELP GET A RECALL. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE SXLT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE WOULD ABNORMALLY TRAVEL TO THE FLOORBOARD. ALSO, THERE WAS NO PRESSURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. A REPRESENTATIVE ALSO KEPT HER VEHICLE FOR FOUR DAYS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE LIGHTS, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR, WENT OUT WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIMES SINCE THEN. IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY IN RECENT MONTHS. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. *TR
ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL INTERMITTENTLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. RESTART VEHICLE AND IT WOULD RUN FINE UNTIL WITHOUT WARNING IT WOULD STALL AGAIN. THE WRENCH WOULD LIGHT UP ON DASHBOARD WHEN STALLING. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD TO HAVE CHECKED OUT, WAS TOLD THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OF COURSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THREE HUNDRED FORTY FIVE DOLLARS LATER IT SEEMED TO BE REPAIRED, THAT IS UNTIL TODAY 09/21/2013 IT STARTED TO HAVE THE SAME STALLING CONDITION. WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AGAIN ASAP BEFORE IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 62,328 MILES ON IT. WE ALSO HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE OBD INDICATES THE O2 SENSORS ARE NOT HEATING UP PROPERLY. THIS SEEMS TO MOSTLY HAPPEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD OR SOMETIMES WHEN IT RAINS. WEIRD ! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. AUTOMAKERS NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE BY SOME ONE FOR SELLING UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS VEHICLES TO US AND THEN EXPECT US TO KEEP PAYING FOR THEIR MISTAKES! THANK YOU

MY SON OPENED THE BACK HATCH TO PUT HIS BASKETBALL BAG IN THE BACK. HE CLOSED THE HATCH AND AS HE DID THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED. *TR
ENGINE WILL START HEAD DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL THE SUDDEN WILL LOSE PICK UP ,PUSH ON THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS THEN ALL THE SUDDEN IT WILL SPEED UP ,INCLUDING THIS ONE THAT I HAVE ESTIMATED THE DATE AND MILEAGE FORD REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER WARRANTY.....THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON 02SEP12 MILEAGE WAS 39619 IT DID THE SAME THING BUT LEFT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD TO BE TOWED(90$) TO REPAIR ,FORD FOUND THE THROTTLE BODY UNABLE TO MAINTAIN IDLE COST ME ALMOST 400$ TO REPAIR ,THAT LEADS US UP TO TODAY WHERE I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND ALL THE SUDDEN IT CUT OUT AND HAD TO COST OUT OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AFTER ABOUT 2-3 MIN THE TRUCK PICKED UP AND RAN FINE TILL I GOT HOME AND CALLED FORD AND ASKED THEM WHAT I NEED TO DO CAUSE ITS DOING THE SAME THING IT HAD THE PREVIOUS TIMES.WAS INSTRUCTED TO GET IT TO A SERVICE DEPT TO HAVE IT CHECKED,ON THE WAY TO FORD DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC THE CAR STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION AND THANKFULLY THE OTHER DRIVER WAS PAYING ATTENTION HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THEIR COULD HAVE DEF BEEN A FATAL INJURY IF NOT BUT AS I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT I WOULD ALSO HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS THROTTLE BODY BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE 04JUN13 58053 MILES. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR MAIN ENGINE SEAL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,327.
WHEN APPROACHING A STOP THROTTLE OPENED TO MAXIMUM. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WAS PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 OTHER TIMES SINCE. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD THEY SAID THAT SINCE IT WAS AN INTERMITTANT PROBLEM AND NO ONE ELSE HAS REPORTED IT THEY WOULD NO DO ANY REPAIRS.
I WAS ABOUT TWO BLOCKS FROM HOME, DRIVING THE SUV AND SLOWED DOWN TO TURN THE CORNER, WHEN I TRIED TO HIT THE GAS TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST 5MPH. A FEW LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. WHEN I RESTARTED IT, IT WORKED FINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. LAST YEAR I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD ESCAPE AND HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED WITH MY PURCHASE. THE SELLING DEALER, TOWER FORD IN GREAT NECK, NEW YORK HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP ME RECTIFY MY SERIOUS COMPLAINT AND CONCERNS WITH MY VEHICLE. ONE OF MY BIGGEST CONCERNS IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS, THE BRAKES ARE VERY LOW, AND A SWISHING LIQUID NOISE IS HEARD IN THE FUEL TANK WHEN STOPPING, THE RIGHT SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR SQUEAKS, AND THE CENTER CONSOLE IS LOOSE. I'VE BROUGHT MY TRUCK BACK TO THIS DEALER MANY TIMES AND ALL I RECEIVE IS THAT THEY CAN NOT VERIFY MY COMPLAINT AND CONCERNS. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY AND MY SAFETY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE NEXT TO THE BUILDING WHERE I WORK AND THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND HIT THE BRICK WALL, BROKE A WINDOW AND DENTED THE BUILDING AC UNIT. DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE HOOD, BUMPER AND GRILLE. COST TO REPAIR $4282.75. *TR SEPTEMBER 25,2012 I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED BECAUSE IT CONTINUES TO SURG FORWARD ON A DAILY BASIS. THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

AS I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY, MY CAR MESSAGE CENTER ALERTED ME TO SAFELY COME TO A STOP. AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET INTO A PARKING LOT, THE CAR SHUT OFF. I RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO GET INTO PARKING LOT ON ELECTRIC, I GUESS. IT WAS TOWED TO UTTER FORD, IN SHERMAN, TX. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD ME IT HAD TO DO WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND THE ELECTRICAL. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT AND SAID THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. I PICKED IT UP ON 12/3 AROUND 2:30PM. I GOT 40 MILES AND THE CAR WENT INTO FAIL/SAFE MODE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO A PARKING LOT. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON, THE ACCELERATOR STUCK. HITTING THE BREAK DID NOT HELP. THE CAR HAD TO BE TURNED OFF TO KEEP THE ENGINE FROM REVVING. IT WAS TOWED TO DAVID MCDAVID LINCOLN IN PLANO, TEXAS. THE SERVICE TECH SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING REGISTERING ON THE DIAGNOSTIC. ON THEIR SECOND TEST DRIVE, THE CAR TURNED OFF WHILE THE DRIVER WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THEY HAD TO SEND A TOW TRUCK TO GET HIM. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2012 AND HAVE SINCE NOTICED THE VEHICLE LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. NO MATTER HOW FAR I PUSH DOWN ON THE GAS IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO OF STALLING, IT WILL SPUTTER AND SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE AUTO SHOP TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS NOT MISFIRING A PISTON, OR THAT THEIR WAS ANYTHING IMMEDIATELY WRONG, BUT THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER TO WHY IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MY TRANSMISSION ALSO STALLS IN GEARS AND WILL NOT SHIFT WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SAME DEAL TOOK IT IN AND RECEIVED NO ANSWER. THE BACK HATCH GLASS ALSO LEAKS TERRIBLY WHEN IT RAINS AND I CANNOT GET IT TO SEAL AT ALL.
ON 22 NOV 2011 MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE XLT AUTO AWD 2.5L I4 REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED AFTER CLOSING TAILGATE/HATCH! I LOOK INSIDE SOON AFTER TO SEE IF ANYTHING HAD BEEN IN THE WAY TO CAUSE IT AND THEIR WAS NOT! THIS WOULD HAVE ONLY BEEN MY THIRD TIME OPENING THE HATCH PART AS I USUALLY OPEN THE GLASS PART MOSTLY AND WHICH I ALSO DID THAT DAY AND THERE WAS NOT INDICATION ON MY DASH THAT ANYTHING WAS STILL OPEN SO LATER THAT DAY I HAD TO OPEN MY TAILGATE AND I CLOSED IT AND MY WINDSHIELD EXPLODED! I HAVE SINCE HAD IT REPLACED AND AM WRITING TO YOU TO INFORM YOU OF THIS SO THAT I WILL NOT HAPPEN TO OTHERS! I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND YOUR SITE TO SEE THEIR ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODING WHICH TO BE COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR OCCUPANT AND THEIR FAMILIES! I SAY THIS BECAUSE WHEN YOU OPEN THE BACKSEAT WINDOWS I HEAR AN ECHOING OF SOUND IN MY SUV AND I WONDER WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO CLOSING REAR GATE THE PRESSURE PUSHING OFF BACKSEATS IS CAUSING REAR WINDSHIELD TO BLOW OUT??????? WHILE CLOSING THE REAR HATCH, THE GLASS/HATCH EXPLODED INTO AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR HITTING MY DAUGHTER IN THE FACE. THERE WAS NOT UNUSUAL TENSION OR BINDING WHILE CLOSING THE REAR GLASS HATCH. DID NOT REQUIRE ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO CLOSE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, THE ENGINE WAS OFF,TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE APPROX 50 DEGREES. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN ACCELERATING, FOR EXAMPLE ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLES TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE IDLES VERY ROUGH, IT HAS BEEN SINCE I BOUGHT IT BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE RECENTLY. I'VE MENTIONED IT TO THE TECHNICIAN WHEN I'VE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL FOR A FOUR CYLINDER. AT 2700 MILES THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO GO ON AND VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR A CHECK ON AIRBAG PROBLEM. SUPPOSEDLY FIXED, HOWEVER ONE WEEK LATER HAD TO RETURN VEHICLE TO DEALER DUE TO AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AGAIN GOING ON. PROBLEM SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY TIGHTENING LOOSE WIRRE CABLES IN CABLE HARNESS BUT ONE MONTH LATER RETURNED VEHICLE AGAIN AS AIR BAG WARNING WAS AGAIN COMING ON AND THERE WAS CONCERN AS WE DIDN'T KNOW IF AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY IF NEEDED OR WORSE MAY DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. ADVISED THAT CAUSE WAS EXCESSIVE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE IN WIRE CABLE HARNESS AND DEFECTIVE SENSORS.SINCE THAT TIME THERE HAS BEEN NO FURTHER PROBLEM WITH AIRBAG READINESS WARNING. IN FALL OF 2012 A NEW PROBLEM STARTED WHICH AT FIRST I THOUGHT MIGHT BE DUE TO LEAVING PARKING BRAKE PARTIALLY ON. STEERING AT 40 MPH ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME VERY DIFFICULT AND CENTER CONSOLE WARNING LIGHTS AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD, STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN IN APRIL 2013 WITH VEHICLE STILL UNDER 10,000 MILES. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND PROBLEM SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. DROVE ABOUT 6 TO 8 MILES AND PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN WITH WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON AND DIFFICULT TO STEER AT FREEWAY SPEED. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALER AND PICKED UP TWO DAYS LATER WITH PROBLEM SUPPOSEDLY CURED. 4 DAYS LATER ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON AGAIN AND STEERING AS BEFORE WAS DIFFICULT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER AS ALL AGREED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.AFTER A WEEK OF TESTING AND WORK VEHICLE WAS READY . WAS ADVISED THAT PROBLEM WAS LOOSE WIRES IN CABLE HARNESS AND FAULTY SENSORS. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE ESCAPE THE ENGINE SEEMED TO QUIT WHEN MAKING A TURN. TURNING OFF THE KEY AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE WORKED. NOTHING FOR MONTHS AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. MY WIFE THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS QUITTING SO I ASKED THE DEALER IF THEY WERE AWARE OF SIMILAR ISSUES. ALL SERVICING WAS PERFORMED AT FORD UNTIL THE WARRANTY WAS OUT. NEVER A MENTION OF ANY PROBLEMS FROM THE DEALER.THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO HAVE INTERMITTENT ISSUES AND ONE DAY IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I DETERMINED THE ENGINE WAS NOT QUITTING BUT WOULD DROP TO ABOUT 1000 RPM WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. IF YOU KEPT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE QUICKLY AND SOMETIMES WOULD NOT ALLOW MOVING TO A SAFE LOCATION. WHILE TOWING MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED BEHIND MY RV BUS, THE TRANSMISSION BURNED UP. I DID EVERYTHING THAT WAS TAUGHT TO ME BY FORD DEALERSHIP IN GURNEE, IL, CAMPING WORLD IN FOX LAKE, IL AND THE FORD MANUAL. THE MADISON, TENNESSEE FORD DEALERSHIP TRIED TO BLAME ROADMASTER FOR THE PROBLEM. ROADMASTER IS THE MAKER OF THE TOWING SYSTEM (BARS, ELECTRICAL WIRING FOR LIGHTS AND THE EVEN BRAKE SYSTEM). THAT MADE NO SENSE AT ALL. I CHALLENGED THEM ON THAT AND THEN THEY ASKED ME TO GO OVER WHAT I DO TO TOW THE VEHICLE AND AFTER I EXPLAINED ALL THE STEPS, THEY SAID THAT I DID EVERYTHING CORRECTLY. I DROVE NO FASTER THAN 60 MPH IN MY WHOLE TRIP (CHICAGO TO NASHVILLE) AND EVEN STOPPED EVERY 3-4 HOURS TO START THE VEHICLE AND GO THROUGH THE GEARS, AS TAUGHT. THIS VEHICLE HAS 7600 MILES ON IT AND JUST 1200 MILES TOWING ON IT. SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS DEALERSHIP AND FORD DOES NOT WANT TO ADMIT THAT ITS OWN TRANSMISSION DID NOT WANT TO LUBE ITSELF TO KEEP IT FROM BURNING UP. FORD HAS NOT ANSWERED ANY OF MY 2 EMAILS SENT TO THEM ABOUT THIS AND THE DEALERSHIP JUST KEEPS BRUSHING ME OFF. IT IS CLEARLY SOME DEFECT WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION, THEY JUST DO NOT WANT TO OWN UP TO IT. THE CONSUMER SENT IN AN UPDATE VIA PORTABLE: JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THIS. FORD CALLED ME YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND SAID THAT THEY WILL PAY FOR EVERYTHING NOW. I TOLD THEM I WAS DOING THESE COMPLAINTS AND FINALLY SOMEONE CALLED ME. ANY INCOMING CALLS DISPLAY THE PROPER PHONE NAME AND I CAN DIAL BY GIVING THE NUMBER, WHICH IS DIFFICULT WHEN SO MANY OF MY CONTACTS HAVE THREE NUMBERS AND IT IS ILLEGAL IN MY PROVINCE (CANADA) TO HOLD A CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING AND YOU MUST USE BLUETOOTH. THIS INABILITY TO DIAL FROM THE PHONE-BOOK ADDS MORE OF A DISTRACTION AS YOU HAVE TO TRY TO COME UP WITH NUMBERS INSTEAD OF JUST SAYING A CONTACT NAME. FORD ESCAPE 2011 HAD A CAR ACCIDENT ON MAY 17TH 2011 I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AND WITH THE IMPACT I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
