FLAT TOWING, ALL FOUR WHEELS ON GROUND, SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER HOOD, TOWED IN TO DEALERSHIP, TOLD TRANSMISSION WAS BURNED UP. IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE IF LET GO. 86986 MILES ON 2011 ESCAPE. HAVE BEEN FLAT TOWING BEHIND MOTORHOME FOR MORE THAN FOUR YEARS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THIS.
FAILED POWER STEERING. THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM ON MY ESCAPE HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. I HAD JUST LEFT A PARKING LOT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL ON THE CAR GOT VERY HARD TO TURN. IT WAS ACTING LIKE THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED. SO, FEELING COMFORTABLE ENOUGH THAT I KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG, I DROVE HOME TO GET OUR OTHER VEHICLE. NOW AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A TRADITIONAL POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT RATHER AN ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. I AM SHOCKED THAT I MADE IT HOME NOW THAT I KNOW THAT THE SYSTEM WAS FIGHTING MY ATTEMPTS TO TURN, NOT JUST SIMPLY NOT SUPPLYING POWER ASSISTANCE. I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER VINS OF MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN RECALLED DUE TO ISSUES WITH THIS SYSTEM, BUT MINE IS NOT COVERED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO OTHER VINS OF ESCAPE. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THAT THIS. PRIOR TO THIS TOTAL FAILURE, WE HAD EXPERIENCED THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING AND MOTOR RPM REDUCTION. THIS LET ME TO THINK THAT IT WAS A TRADITIONAL POWER STEERING PUMP. I DID NOT TAKE ACTION BECAUSE NO WARNING CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED AND I WAS NOT HEARING THE TELL TALE WHINE OF A FAILING POWER STEERING PUMP.
I DROVE FOR APPROX. 1 HR AND THEN STOPPED AT A GROCERY STORE, TURNING OFF MY VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I WENT TO LEAVE AND STARTED MY VEHICLE AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THIS STATE, FOR APPROX. 1 HR WHILE DRIVING HOME.
TWICE WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT, THE LAST ONE ON 2/19/19 WHILE MY NEW DRIVING SON WAS ON THE WAY TO COLLEGE. I TOOK IT TO FORD 2/22/19 AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $150 JUST TO DIAGNOSE AND MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED VIA VIN FOR THE CURRENT RECALL. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NTB AND THEY DIAGNOSED ERROR CODE B2278 WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR. NTB REFERRED ME BACK TO FORD SINCE THEY SHOULD COVER THIS AND GAVE ME A LETTER SAYING SO. FORD STILL REFUSES TO COVER MY VEHICLE EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS. I JUST FINISHED MAKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY FORD SERVICE CENTER WHO ARE GOING TO CHARGE $600 TO REPLACE THE TORQUE SENSOR. THEY ARE ASKING FOR 1.5 DAYS TO REPAIR.
STEERING GOES IN AND OUT MAKING I DIFFICULT TO STEER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HIS DESTINATION AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD OF ORANGE (LOCATED AT 1350 W KATELLA AVE, ORANGE, CA 92867, (888) 721-6635) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
I BOUGHT AN RV LAST YEAR AND DECIDED TO PULL IT BEHIND MY RV. I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT PROCEDURE IN NEEDED TO DO TO PULL MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE ON ALL FOUR WHEELS BEHIND MY RV AND SO I FOLLOWED THE MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS AND DID SO. WELL I GOT ABOUT 300 MILES FROM MY HOUSE AND THE TRANSMISSION BURNS UP! I HAVE CONTACTED FMCO AND THEY ARE GIVEN ME THE RUN AROUND AND NOT WANTING TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY TRANSMISSION WHICH I TOTALLY DISAGREE BECAUSE I FOLLOWED THE MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST DIED AND DID NOT START AGAIN AND I CANT FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT EVEN IN THE OFF ENGION SWITCH STILL WAS TRYING TO START ITS SELF SO I HAD TO REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLES SO IT WOULD STOP TRYING TO START AND WE CANT FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH IT STILL AND WE JUST SPENT 3500.00 TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AND AT THIS TIME WE HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO FIX IT .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN MAKING TURNS, THE STEERING FAILED AND THE CONTACT WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE TEMPORARILY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME I AM REPLACING WHEEL BEARING IN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THIS CAUSES THE WHEEL TO SHAKE. I CANT AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO PUT MONEY INTO A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILES AND EVERY 6 MONTHS. ALSO REAR WIPER MOTOR BURNT OUT DUE TO A LEAKY SEAL OR POOR SEAL FROM FORD.
STOPPED AT A STOPPED SIGNED PULLED OUT SLOWLY TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP THEN CORRECTED A FEW SECONDS LATER. A WEEK LATER AT A STOP SIGN SLOWLY PULLED OUT TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND I DRIFTED INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC WITH NO CONTROL AND HIT A CURB THEN STARTING STEERING CORRECTLY. I AM SO THANKFUL NO ONE WAS HURT OR WORSE. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN THE SAME DAY TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND HAVE IT SERVICED. I WAS TOLD THEY RECEIVED CODE B227B WHICH WHEN I RESEARCH FALLS UNDER THE FOLLOWING/ RECALL NUMBER 14V284000 RECALL DATE 05/29/2014 COMPONENT STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM SUMMARY FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPE AND MERCURY MARINER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AUGUST 18, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 11, 2010. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE A STEERING TORQUE SENSOR THAT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY DETECT DRIVER STEERING INPUT. AS A RESULT, THE SYSTEM COULD REMOVE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ASSIST. CONSEQUENCE IF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, GREATER DRIVER EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH I WAS TOLD MY VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.
POWER STEERING SENSOR DEFECTIVE. POWER STEERING FAILED AFTER MAKING A TURN 3 TIMES.

THE CONTACT MANAGED TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL AND DRIVE HOME SAFELY. THE DEALER (LYNCH FORD CHEVROLET INC, 410 US-30, MT VERNON, IA 52314, (319)-895-8500) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT LIGHTS UP ALL THE TIME ON THE CAR. IT WILL ALSO SAY "CHECK FUEL FILL INLET" WHEN I PUMP GAS. THE CODE READS P0455 WHICH MEANS THE ENGINE COMPUTER RECOGNIZES A LARGE LEAK IN THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM (EVAP). THE VEHICLE'S EVAP SYSTEM IS SEALED, IT'S MAIN PURPOSE IS TO PREVENT GASOLINE VAPORS IN THE FUEL TANK FROM ESCAPING INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. I AM NOT SURE IF ONE OF THE RECALLS PERTAINS TO THIS, BUT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR ME. SO MUCH SO, THAT I HAVE STOPPED DRIVING THE CAR IN FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND MY FAMILY.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND UNABLE TO STEER VEHICLE SAFELY. HAPPENS DURING TURNS AT SLOWER SPEEDS. FORD DIAGNOSTIC CODE # B2278=STEERING TORQUE SENSOR BAD. SAME PROBLEM WITH CURRENT RECALL # 14V284000. VEHICLE MADE AT SAME PLANT AS RECALLED VEHICLES. MY VIN SEEMS TO NOT BE INCLUDED FOR SOME REASON. PLEASE ADD SINCE IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM PLEASE.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED CAR SEIZED 4 MORE TIMES WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE SAME DAY. THE DIANOSIS AND REPAIR WAS DONE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY. (105 COUNTY RD, IPSWICH, MA 01938, (978) 356-6850) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. THE TORQUE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,175.

I WAS DRIVING AND MY BACK WINDSHIELD BROKE LOOSE FROM THE CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON MANCHESTER RD NO MORE THAN 40 MILES AN HOUR. UPON CHECKING ,ONE OF THE REAR HINGES HAD BROKE AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS HANIGING BY THE OTHER HINGE. FORTUNATELY FOR MYSELF AND PEOPLE BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY IT HELD ON. IT IS NOW CLEAR THAT THE OTHER HINGE IS ALSO ROTTED AND I'M VERY LUCKY NO ONE WAS INJURED. I WAS TELLING MY COWORKER WHO HAS THE SAME YEAR,MAKE , AND MODEL CAR ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND WE DECIDED TO GO OUT AND LOOK AT HERS. HER HINGES ARE ALSO ROTTED AND THE SAME THING COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO HER AT ANY TIME. WE THEN WENT ON LINE WHERE WE FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING IMAGE IS OF THE HINGES. A FRIEND CAME AND PUSHED THE WINDSHIELD BACK UP IN PLACE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE IT DOWNPOURING INTO MY CAR. THEN WE DUCKTAPED IT TO GET ME HOME. I DID NOT WANT TO LET IT HANG AGAIN FOR THE PHOTOS BECAUSE I AM AFRAID IT WILL FALL OF COMPLETELY. ONE IMAGE IS OF MY CAR , THE OTHER OF MY COWORKERS.
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SEIZE AND LOSE OF ACCELERATION WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS . DURING THESE INCIDENTS WE WOULD RESTART THE IGNITION AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD START WORKING AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER WAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
AFTER COMPLETING MY SHOPPING AT FRED MEYER, I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING WASN'T WORKING. I WAS STATIONARY WAITING TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE. I TRIED A COUPLE OF TIMES TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT TO SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY TRYING TO STEER, BUT GOT IT HOME SAFELY. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY THE ELECTRIC STEERING HAD GONE OUT. I WAS TOLD IT WILL COST ME AROUND $1200.00 TO REPAIR. THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS FOR A LONG TIME. I HAD A 2010 FORD ESCAPE THAT HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO IT. I SPENT THE MONEY TO FIX THAT ONE. I REALLY FEEL IT IS UNFAIR THAT I HAVE TO REPEAT THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN WITH THIS 2011. THIS IS A TOTAL DANGER FOR ANYONE DRIVING IT AND FORD NEEDS TO REPAIR THIS BEFORE ANYONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT IN AN ACCIDENT. FORD SHOULD HAVE TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE AND MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS SO THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I DO ASK THAT YOU INTERVENE AND MAKE FORD RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2011 FORD ESCAPES FOR THIS, RECALL NUMBER 14V284000, BUT IT DOES NOT COVER THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE FOR MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THIS RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE MORE VEHICLES THAT WERE MANUFACTURED AT A LATER DATE.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000. *TT CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER AND HAD IT REPAIR AND WAS FINE UNTIL THERE WAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER.*JB
LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED STEERING. WITHOUT WARNING THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN. MY WIFE COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. HAPPENED DURING NORMAL DRIVING WHEN MAKING TURNS. BOTH TIMES IT REVERTED TO NORMAL OPERATION AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES. CONSIDER THIS LOSS OF STEERING A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN RIGHT OR LEFT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ASSIST THE DRIVER AND DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME; HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL HAD TO BE TURNED WITH FORCE TO COMPLETE THE TURNS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,000.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. (THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, HOWEVER FORD IS NOT HONORING MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE, YET THE SAME FAILURE IS OCCURING WITH MY VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL ERROR LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY DASH FOLLOWED BY CLICKING NOISES. SHORTLY AFTER MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I WAS MAKING A TURN AT A MODERATE SPEED AND THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND I STRAINED MYSELF AND PULLED SEVERAL UPPER BODY MUSCLES IN THE PROCESS. I AM A SMALL WOMAN AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO MANUALLY TURN THE WHEEL. I HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS PART. EVEN THOUGH MY VIN IS NOT SHOWING ITS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL. IT IS A 2011 ESCAPE AND I BELIEVE THERE ARE MORE VEHICLES INCLUDING MINE, THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THE DEFECTIVE PART ALMOST CAUSE A TRAGIC ACCIDENT, AND ALTHOUGH I AVOIDED THAT, I DID INJURE MYSELF IN AN EFFORT TO STEER MY VEHICLE WITHOUT THE ASSIST OF THE POWER STEERING. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY ENGAGED TWICE WITHIN A WEEK OF IT ORIGINALLY GOING OUT. BOTH TIMES IT REINGAGED WHILE I WAS TURNING MY VEHICLE AND AGAIN THIS SUDDEN CHANGE ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. I'VE NOW HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE THIS PART AND I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CURVY ROAD AND MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I HAD TO REDUCE MY SPEED TO ABOUT 15 MPH TO GET TO GAS STATION. I TURNED CAR OFF AND IT BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OF ANY TYPE CAME ON. IF I WOULD OF BEEN GOING AT A HIGHER SPEED AND IT GO OUT I COULD OF GOTTEN HURT. GOOD THING I DIDN'T HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.

EXPERIENCE SURGING AND STUMBLING UNDER THROTTLE UP
WHEN DRIVING MY CAR AT LOW SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING UNIT LOCKS UP RANDOMLY AND UNPREDICTABLY ESPECIALLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN. AFTER CONTACTING FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE, I LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE RECALL FOR ESCAPES FROM 2008-2011 MADE AT THE KANSAS CITY PLANT, WHERE MY ESCAPE WAS PRODUCED AT ACCORDING TO MY VIN NUMBER. HOWEVER, WHEN CONTACTING FORD ABOUT THIS ISSUE I WAS HAVING, THEY SAID THAT MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT PRODUCED IN THE SAME "BATCH" THAT THE RECALL IS FOR. THIS IS A DANGER TO BOTH MYSELF AND THE PUBLIC BECAUSE BEING UNABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO A MECHANIC THEY EXPLAINED THAT MY STEERING COLUMN IS BROKEN, WHICH APPEARS HAPPENS FAIRLY OFTEN TO THIS MODEL OF ESCAPES.
I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 5 INCIDENTS WHERE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY CAR, EITHER WHILE STARTING OUT OR SUDDENLY WHEN DRIVING, MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND I BELIEVE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE SAFELY. I FOUND OUT MY CAR FITS THE CRITERIA FOR A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM (A FORD ESCAPE, MODEL YEAR 2008-2011, MADE IN KANSAS CITY) EXCEPT WHEN I ENTERED MY VIN NUMBER TO CHECK ON THIS ON YOUR WEBSITE IT DID NOT REGISTER AS SUCH. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MISTAKE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED..

POWER STEARING FAILURE
THE TRUCK HAS A LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. WHEN GOING IN SLOW SPEEDS, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. WHEN SPEED INCREASES, IT BECOMES LESS DIFFICULT TO TURN, HOWEVER IT IS STILL VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. ON THE STREET FOR EXAMPLE, TURNING IN THE NEXT LANE CAN BE A BIT OF A HASSLE AND MAKING SHAP TURNS OR U-TURNS ARE IMPOSSIBLE.
ON 2011 FORD ESCAPTE REAR HATCH HAS DEVOLOPED CORROSION AND BROKE OFF. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT SERIES FROM 2012 AND EARLY IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. LUCKY I WAS NOT DRIVING ANYWHERE WHEN THIS WAS DONE OR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ENGERY TO CARS AROUND ME AND TO MYSELF OR MY YOUNG SON WITH GLASS BLOWING INTO THE CAR.
TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 128000.MILES AND COST US 3500.00 AND WE ONLY OWNED IT FOR LESS THAN A YEAR
WHILE ON HIGHWAY TRAVELING TO CHICAGO, MY VEHICLE POWER STEERING FAILED. I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT GREAT DIFFICULTY. THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRICAL SO CANNOT DRIVE WITHOUT POWER STEERING. HAD TO LEAVE CAR STRANDED IN SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS AT LANDMARK FORD AND PAY $50 PER DAY FOR RENTAL. IT IS A SAFETY RECALL 14S05 AND HAS FAILED IN HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CARS IN THE US AND CANADA. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL INFORMATION ONLINE AND MY CALLS TO DEALERSHIPS; MY CAR'S RECALL UPDATED THE SOFTWARE TO LET ME KNOW THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE TORQUE SENSOR WHICH IS THE ITEM THAT FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY AND MADE MY CAR NOT OPERATIONAL. IF YOUR TORQUE SENSOR FAILED PRIOR IT WAS REPLACED BY FORD UNDER THE RECALL - IF IT HADN'T FAILED BY THE TIME OF THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THE RECALL WAS CLOSED OUT. I HAVE FOUND ALL THIS OUT TODAY BEFORE MY CAR HAS BEEN FIXED. SO FORD WILL NOT FIX MY TORQUE SENSOR AND THE COST IS $617 PLUS THE RENTAL CAR AT $50 PER DAY. (MY CAR FAILED 5 HOURS FROM HOME) - I HAVE TO GO PICK IT UP WHEN IT IS FIXED. SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY RECALL AND THE TORQUE SENSOR HAD NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED, AND FORD KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH 1.1 MILLION CARS, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR A FAILED FAULTY PART? MY CAR ONLY HAS 74,000 MILES AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. THE CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY EASILY. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS STRANDED 275 MILES FROM HOME AND FORD WILL NOT FIX THE FAULTY PART. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM VERY UNHAPPY. THE TORQUE SENSOR, STEERING COLUMN OR WHATEVER PARTS MAKE THIS CAR UNSAFE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF UNDER THE RECALL. FORD NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING. THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT AND LOSS OF LIVES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE STEERING RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
SHIFT SOLANOID PROBLEMS WHERE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SHIFT. FORD DOES NOT HAVE THESE PARTS ON HAND AND ARE ON BACK ORDER UNTIL MID OCTOBER 2018. WHY? BECAUSE TOO MANY ESCAPE VEHICLES ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. A RECALL NEEDS TO CONDUCTED ON THIS ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND REPLACE THESE SOLANOIDS.

WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 VERY REPUTABLE SERVICE SHOPS (AND PAID THEM TO FIX IT), AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPAIR IT. BASED ON THE # OF REPORTED ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE, FORD NEEDS TO QUICKLY FIX THIS AND MAKE IT RIGHT AT NO CHARGE.
