WHILE DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT IN ORDER TO GAIN MOVEMENT IN STEERING WHEEL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. RIVERTOWN FORD (1680 WHITTLESEY RD, COLUMBUS, GA 31904, (706) 653-7420) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD TAKE THREE HOURS AND WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $800. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GOES OUT ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE I'M DRIVING. I HAVE TO MAN HANDLE THE WHEEL TILL IT COMES BACK AND IT ALMOST CAUSED A COUPLE OF BAD ACCIDENTS. I DON'T LIKE FEELING UNSAFE DRIVING A CAR I'M PAYING FOR ESPECIALLY WITH MY KIDS IN IT. TOOK IT TOO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET DIAGNOSED AND MY TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAS A BAD CONNECTION, AND CAN CAUSE THE WHEEL TO LOCK UP. THE MOST FRUSTRATING PART IS MY PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT COVERED WITH THE RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER 2011 FORD ESCAPES. I DON'T HAVE $700 TO DISH OUT AT ALL TIMES WORKING FOR THE ARMY. WOULD BE AWESOME IF THE RECALL WOULD COVER ALL 2011 ESCAPES SO I CAN GET THE ISSUE FIXED AND MY FAMILY DOESN'T HAVE TO STRESS ABOUT IT ANYMORE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY RETURNED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LIBERTY FORD MAPLE HEIGHTS (5500 WARRENSVILLE CENTER RD, MAPLE HEIGHTS, OH 44137) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000.
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN ELECTRONIC STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. CAR WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN CAT WAS RESTARTED IT WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MILES THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHILE TURNING LEFT WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. THING SAME SEQUENCE HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES JUST TRYING TO GET THE CAR HOME. CONTACTED FORD ( THERE IS A RECALL) BUT WAS TOLD MY CAR'S VIN IS NOT RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE EXACT SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES. TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME MANY CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR ESCAPES AND FORD NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE
THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL REGARDING THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPAIRED IN MAY 2019 (BY CHAPMAN FORD IN HORSHAM, PA), JUST BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JUNE. IN LATE AUGUST 2019, THE CAR WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY STARTING. I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (FULLERTON FORD IN SOMERVILLE, NJ). THEY INSISTED CHAPMAN FORD DID A POOR JOB WITH THE RECALL REPAIR (SPECIFICALLY CONNECTING THE FUEL PUMP) AND FORD CORPORATE AUTHORIZED FULLERTON TO FIX CHAPMAN'S POOR WORK (FREE OF CHARGE FOR ME). A FEW DAYS AGO, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START EVEN WHEN JUMP STARTED. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS (MALOUF FORD IN NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ AND FULLERTON FORD) SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN OPENING TO WORK ON THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS. I WANTED TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS SO I TOOK THE CAR TO A PRIVATE SHOP (QUALITY AUTO CENTER IN FRANKLIN PARK, NJ) . THE PRIVATE SHOP DIAGNOSTICALLY PROVED THE FUEL PUMP NO LONGER WORKS. THE PRIVATE SHOP REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND THE VEHICLE NOW WORKS AGAIN. THIS IS INDEED AN OLDER VEHICLE, BUT I THINK THE TIMING IS ESPECIALLY SUSPICIOUS THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILS SHORTLY AFTER IT HAS BEEN HANDLED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR RECALL REPAIR. FURTHERMORE, CHAPMAN FORD WAS DEEMED BY FORD CORPORATE TO DO A SUBPAR RECALL REPAIR. I CALLED FULLERTON FORD AND FORD CORPORATE ABOUT POTENTIAL LIABILITY BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM INTERESTED TO ENTERTAIN BECAUSE I WASN'T ABLE TO BRING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE STEARING WHEEL GOT TIGHT AND I COULDNT STEER THE CAR. THEN I TURNED CAR OFF STARTED IT AGAIN AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE BATTERY LIGHT LITE UP AND THE STEARING WAS LOCKING UP NOT LETTING ME TURN .VERY SCAREY CAUSE ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT AND NOTHING WAS DISPLAYED SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT STEARING OR BATTERY LOW...
WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO AN INTERSECTION AND STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN, RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL TURN. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT TIME OF INCIDENT. VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL REMAINED STIFF FOR REMAINDER OF DRIVE AND VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO MANEUVER AS EFFECTIVELY. REQUIRED MUCH MORE FORCE TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. NO MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ASSOCIATED.
TRANSFER CASE OVERHEATING AND DUMPING LUBRICANT ON TRANSMISSION/DRIVERS SIDE AXLE SPRAYING ALL OVER.
WHILE DOING THE LAST SEVERAL SERVICES ON MY ESCAPE, I'VE NOTICED THE FRONT CRADLE/CROSSMEMBER SEVERELY RUSTED, BUT NOT RUSTED THROUGH. ON THIS LAST SERVICE,(10/22/19) I NOTICED TWO SPOTS RUSTED THROUGH, VERY SIMILAR TO THE RECALL ON THE PREVIOUS BODY ESCAPES.
WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT SLOW SPEED THE POWER ASSIST STOPS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIME IN THE PAST MONTH. TURNING OFF THEN BACK ON ALLOWED ME TO CONTINUE ON. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON MY ESCAPE FOR THIS ISSUE BUT IN SEARCHING I FOUND RECALL #14V284000 THAT MIRRORS MY EXACT PROBLEM. I CURRENTLY HAVE 113K ON THE CAR.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS A RECALL BUT FORD IS UNABLE TO LOCATE INFORMATION STATING A RECALL ON THE CAR. ELECTRIC STEERING GAVE OUT MULTIPLE TIMES BUT FORD REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RECALLED IN 2014
TWICE IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHEN TURNING SLOWLY. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 15MPH WHEN I TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND FELT THE STEERING LOCK UP MAKING IT DANGEROUS AND NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TO A SAFE PARKING PLACE. ONCE I DID, I POWERED THE CAR OFF FOR A MIN AND BACK ON. IT RESUMED AS NORMAL. IT IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY TO BE DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY. I NO LONGER TRUST THIS VEHICLE.
ESCAPE WOULD NOT START ON 10/14/19. MADE CLICKING NOISE BUT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. CHECKED BATTERY WHICH INDICATED LOW VOLTAGE. REPLACED BATTERY ON 10/15/19. ON 10/17/19, ATTEMPTED TO START CAR. ALL LIGHTS CAME ON BUT NO SOUND WAS HEARD AND ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. CHECKED NEW BATTERY WHICH WAS WITHIN LIMITS. CHECKED SYMPTOMS ONLINE AND FOUND ISSUE TO BE FAULTY NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. UPON FURTHER SEARCH, FOUND NUMEROUS OWNERS OF 2008-2012 FORD ESCAPE AND MERCURY MARINERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS IS NOT A FACTORY RECALL IF IT IS HAPPENING THIS OFTEN.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present inside the cabin of the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered a crack in the fuel tank which caused the fuel leak. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 220,000.
DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT STARTED INTO A CURVE IN ROAD WHEN POWER STEERING FAILED IN VEHICLE. COULD BARELY CONTROL VEHICLE TO GET OFF OF ROAD. NO WARNING, NOISES OR LIGHTS CAME ON. VERY SCARY. CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED BUT THE YEAR AND MODEL DO HAVE A RECALL ON STEERING PROBLEMS.
ALL THE SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING LOST TOTAL POWER STEERING AND COULD HARDLY TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. ONCE I GOT IT STOPPED AND SHUT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, POWER STEERING WAS FINE WHEN I CRANKED BACK UP. HAS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING LATER. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUES REPORTED ON THE 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPES TORQUE SENORS THAT WAS RECALLED. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ON THE 2011-2012 MODELS AS WELL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000. *BF*JB

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PARK THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING SPOT. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE STEERING WHEEL RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT'S WIFE MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD BELLEVUE (LOCATED AT 411 116TH AVE NE, BELLEVUE, WA 98004, (425) 243-5203) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
TURNING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT AND HAD NO POWER STEERING,REMOVED ERROR CODE AND POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
STEERING DIED WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE. WAS ABLE TO AVOID INCIDENT AND RESTARTING CAR APPEARED TO FIX ISSUE AT THE TIME. DEALER INDICATED EXACT SAME ERROR CODE B2278 AND REPAIR AS INDICATED BY RECALL 14S05. HOWEVER, THIS VIN NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL AND MANY CALLS TO FORD AND AN OPEN CASE ARE USELESS. HAVE GRAVE CONCERN FOR FUTURE FAILURES.
POWER STEERING STOP WORKING SUDDENLY, CHECK ONLINE AND FORD ISSUE A RECALL ON 2014 BUT LOCAL DEALERSHIP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY VEHICLE AS ONE AFFECTED.

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN ORDER FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BONNELL MOTORS INC (LOCATED AT 353 CAMBRIDGE ST, WINCHESTER, MA 01890, (877) 729-9700) WHERE THE SAME DIAGNOSIS WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
CITY DRIVING 35 MPH, NO POWER STEERING WHEN TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION. SHUT CAR OFF, WAITED 5 MINUTES, RESTARTED. STEERING OKAY. HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH, NO NOISES, CAR SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS RUNNING FINE. 145000 MI.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THORNHILL FORD (U.S. 119 NORTH 500 FORD FAIRLANE, CHAPMANVILLE, WV 25508) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING A CLICKING SOUND. ADDITIONALLY, IT WAS MORE DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
FRONT-RIGHT BRAKE DISC LOCKED UP ON AUGUST 21ST, 2019. IT ALSO MADE SMOKE. AFTER ONE HOUR, IT CAN DRIVE AGAIN. NOW IT ALWAYS MAKES BIG NOISE WHEN I PARK.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED EDITION AND ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WAS GOING AT A GREAT AMOUNT OF SPEED THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY THE DASH WENT BLACK AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND EVERYTHING I WAS ABLE TO STOP I RESTARTED CAR IT STARTED BACK UP
FORD PART BL8Z-7251-A IN 2001-2012 ESCAPE/MERCURY MARINER/MAZDA TRIBUTE,& SIMILARLY DESIGNED FORD EXPLORER,EDGE, TAURUS, AND SEVERAL MAZDA--ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND 4X4 MODELS ARE MADE WITH KNOWN DEFECTIVE TRANSFERCASES/AUTOMOBLIE DESIGN. THE ENGINE EXHAUST IS PLACED TOO CLOSE TO THE GEAR CASE WHICH DRIES THE LUBRICANT WITHIN (12 OZ.). MASSIVE BEARING FAILURE CAN OCCUR AT ANY MOMENT DESTROYING THE TRANSFER CASE, CAUSING A LOCKUP CONDITION, THE CASE OR DRIVE SHAFT CAN BREAK FREE AND RESULT IN A CRASH.
WHEN TRUCK HAS A FULL OR EVEN HALF TANK , ALWAYS SMELL A LOUD GAS SMELL COMING FROM TRUCK. GAS SMELL SO LOUD CAN NOT HAVE TRUCK PARKED IN GARAGE DUE TO FUMES. ALSO WITH BRAKES, WHEN FORCED TO STOP IMMEDIATELY THE BRAKES MAKE A WEIRD SOUND AND WONT LOCK PROPERLY.

A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM ON 2001-2012 FORD ESCAPE AWD MODELS: THE TRANSFER CASE ON AWD MODELS IS MOUNTED NEAR THE EXHAUST WHICH BAKES AND DRIES LUBRICATION GREASE IN THE TRANSFER CASE RESULTING IN BEARING FAILURE AND LOCK-UP CONDITIONS WHICH CAN CAUSE A CRASH AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED ONE HINGE WAS HOLDING ONE SIDE OF THE LIFTGATE WINDOW BEFORE DETACHING COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HINGES WERE DISINTEGRATED AND HAD A WHITE, POWDERY APPEARANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REACH THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS UNABLE TO REACH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.
RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL IN DEC 2017, CALLED KENDAL FORD IN ANCHORAGE FOR SCHEDULING OF REPAIR. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART NEEDED AND WOULD CALL WHEN IT CAME IN. OCTOBER 2018, CALLED KENDALL AFTER RECEIVING SECOND NOTICE. THE SERVICE DEPT. SAID THEY'D CALL WHEN IT CAME IN. KENDALL FORD SERVICE DEPT. 866-957-4040. THIRD NOTICE RCVD 7/12/2019. CALLED AGAIN AND, TERESA, STATED THEY'D CALL WHEN THE PART CAME IN. THREE YEARS TO GET A PART IS OUTRAGEOUS. THE FORD DEALER HAS DEMONSTRATED BEYOND ANY DOUBT THAT THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT RECALLS, UNABLE TO BE TRUTHFUL, AND HAVE NO CONCERN ABOUT ANYTHING BUT MONEY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOWNE FORD OF REDWOOD CITY (LOCATED AT 1601 EL CAMINO REAL, REDWOOD CITY, CA 94063, (650) 366-5744) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK SENSOR, TWO COLUMN BOLTS, AND THE EPA SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,889.
THE PROBLEM IS BRAKE LOSS IN REVERSE. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY SOMETIMES ONCE A MONTH OR MAYBE 6 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEM BUT SCARY WHEN BACKING OUT AND CANNOT STOP IMMEDIATELY. THE PEDAL WILL BE ROCK HARD WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS WILL DEPRESS AND BRAKES BACK TO NORMAL. IF IN A TIGHT SPOT OR PEDESTRIAN WALKS BEHIND THERE COULD BE BAD CONSEQUENCES AND GOOD LUCK PROVING IT IN COURT THAT THE BRAKES FAILED. SUMMER OR WINTER DOESNT MATTER. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO DEALERSHIP AND COMPLAINED ON ANOTHER FORUM BUT DEALER CANNOT FIND PROBLEM AS IT IS SO INTERMITTENT. IT SEEMS LIKE A VALVE IN THE SYSTEM STICKS. I HAD IT HAPPEN TO ME SEVERAL TIMES BUT MY WIFE DIDNT BELIEVE ME. WELL IT HAPPENED TO HER LAST WEEK AND SHE WAS SCARED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS WITHOUT RESOLUTION AND IF NOTHING ELSE WILL PUT THIS CONCERN ON THE RECORD OR HOPEFULLY FORD TAKES THIS MORE SERIOUSLY. A KNOCK STARTED IN MY STEERING COLUMN. I GOT INCREASINGLY WORSE. MY STEERING BECAME JERKY AND UNCONTROLLABLE. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK TO A REPAIR SHOP. THEY FOUND THE STEERING COLUMN BAD. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK THAT THIS STEERING COLUMN HAS GONE BAD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF I DID NOT LEARN FROM THE FIRST RECALL. TWO TIMES WITH THE SAME PART AND PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK THIS WAS FIXED AND A CONTINUED INVESTIGATION INTO THE STEERING COLUMN SHOULD EXIST.

TAKATA RECALL, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR STARTED SHAKING VERY BAD AND MADE MY CAR SWERVE SO I GOT SCARED AND IT SHOOK FOR A WHILE FINALLY THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN AND THE MESSAGE "POWER ASSIST FAULT" SHOWED UP ON MY DASHBOARD.
MY POWER STEERING HAS BEEN FREQUENTLY GOING OUT, PARTICULARLY WHEN I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE. THE WHEEL BECOMES MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN AND I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR TO RESET THE POWER STEERING ABILITY.
WE BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT BRAKING INCIDENTS. SOMETIME THE CAR WOULD PULL SHARPLY, OR NOT AT ALL. THERE WAS A TIME WHEN THE CAR SEEMED TO NEED EXTRA PETAL PRESSURE TO STOP. WE TOOK IT TO SPENCER CREEK TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. INITIAL DIAGNOSTICS WAS POSSIBLE STICKING OF CALIPERS. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN OUTSIDE THE SHOP TO AWAIT PARTS. WHEN THE IT WAS TIME TO BRING THE CAR BACK INSIDE TO PUT ON THE LIFT, THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HAD FROZE UP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. SEE ATTACHED WORK ORDER. IF THIS MODULE HAD FAILED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, TI WOULD RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL.
