TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A PROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,781.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING BACK TO SCHOOL (7 HOURS) WHEN SHE WOULD GO TO ACCELERATE, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. SHE WOULD HAVE TO TRY TO MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN GET TO THE SHOULDER. SHE WOULD TURN HER CAR OFF AND THEN ON AND IT WOULD LET HER ACCELERATE AGAIN. SHE CALLED ME WHEN IT DID THIS A SECOND TIME. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I CALLED AAA AND HAD HER TOWED FOR TWO HOURS BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT HER DRIVING FOR FEAR SHE WOULD LOSE CONTROL AND HURT HERSELF AND OTHERS. SHE TOOK IT IN TO FORD AND THEY CONFIRMED AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. SHE WAS NOT LETTING ANY WORK BE DONE UNTIL SHE KNEW WHAT IT WAS. SHE WAS THEN TOLD THAT IT WAS A RECALL AND FREE WHICH IS WHY SHE ALLOWED THE WORK TO BE DONE. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT THEY CAME BACK AND SAID THAT IT IS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT SHE HAS TO PAY FOR IT. HOW IS IT THAT SHE HAS TO PAY FOR IT? IT IS EITHER COVERED BY RECALL OR COVERED BY WARRANTY SO WHY DOES SHE PAY FOR IT? THIS IS A MAJOR MALFUNCTION WITH THESE VEHICLES AND IS CAUSING SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL HARM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE LEAKED WATER INTO THE INTERIOR AND CREATED MOLD. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. SO FAR.. 3 TIMES NOW, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND MY CAR HAS STRONGLY SURGED FORWARD AND STALLED! I WAS ALMOST HIT TODAY WHILE TRYING TO PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL TO RE-START MY CAR. ONCE THE CAR WAS RE-STARTED IT CONTINUED TO SURGE FORWARD QUITE VIOLENTLY. THIS IS AN EPIC SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED/ADDRESSED ASAP!!! *TR
AS THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING (APPROX. 30 MPH), THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND WENT INTO A ROUGH IDLE STATE. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. UPON RESTARTING, IT DIDN'T START CORRECTLY. IT SOUNDED LIKE IT DIDN'T DISENGAGE THE KEY / STARTER FOR A FEW SECONDS (2-5). THE MECHANICS LIGHT LITE UP WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE IT FIRST HAPPENED. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IT APPEARS THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY FORD AT NO CHARGE TO OWNERS BEFORE THERE IS A FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO THEIR FAULTY PART. *TR

THIS IS A CONTINUOUS ISSUE FIRST NOTICED A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON VALENTINE'S DAY BECAUSE OF MY CAR. I WAS ON A RAMP ABOUT TO GET INTO TRAFFIC. THE HIGHWAY SPEED IS 75MPH AND IT WAS BUSY. I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY BUT MY CAR JUST STOOD THERE FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS BEFORE IT FINALLY REGISTERED (THAT I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL) AND SPED UP REALLY FAST. THIS CAUSED ME TO CUT OFF THE DRIVER ON THE INSIDE LANE BECAUSE MY CAR DIDN'T SPEED UP AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. I DRIVE TO WORK EVERYDAY ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 4 TIMES A WEEK. THE OTHER PROBLEM, WHICH I TRIED TO DISMISS AS MY IMAGINATION BECAUSE THE CAR WAS JUST PURCHASED LAST YEAR WITH ONLY 3900 MILES ON IT, IS WHEN DRIVING IN TOWN ABOUT 30-35 MPH, THE ENGINE SEEMS TO STALL ON AND OFF FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, SORT OF LIKE WHEN SPEEDING UP AND SUDDENLY LET GO OF THE GAS, AS IF THERE'S NO POWER IN THE ENGINE.

CAR LEAPS FORWARD WHEN GAS IS APPLIED FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR CONVERSELY LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM BUT NO ERROR CODE APPEARED AT TIME OF SERVICE. THEREFOR DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT FIX THE CAR AND I SHOULD KEEP HAVING SYSTEM IN CAR CHECKED FOR THE CODE TO APPEAR
I GOT THIS VEHICLE FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO AND HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING SINCE ABOUT STALLING/STUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM PARK OR WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I CAN'T GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM FOR THE TECHNICIANS, BUT I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM (13N03). I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE ABOUT IT AND THEY MADE A CASE WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR ME AND SAID THEY MUST WORK WITH CORPORATE TO HELP ME. LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER BASICALLY TOLD ME THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO IF IT CAN'T BE REPLICATED. I HAVE CONTACTED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, AND I'M BACK AT SQUARE 1.
JUST AFTER LEAVING A 4 WAY STOP, AS I TRIED TO ROUND THE CURVE THE STEERING IN OUR 2012 ESCAPE STOPPED WORKING AND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. I JUST KEPT GOING STRAIGHT. LUCKILY, I SLOWED DOWN WITH THE BRAKES BUT THE ESCAPE CONTINUED STRAIGHT AND WENT OVER THE CURB AND DOWN A 50+ FT EMBANKMENT. EVEN WITH ALL OF THIS IMPACT, NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED THROUGHOUT THE CAR ANYWHERE! THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP WAS BAD ENOUGH, BUT AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND THE CONDITION OF THE CAR AND THEN NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT- THAT WAS WAY TOO MUCH! *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING DURING THE DAYTIME. HAWK FORD IN OAK LAWN, ILLINOIS REPLACED THE HEADLAMP CONTROL SWITCH, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT FIND ANOTHER FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,850.
THE ACTUALTRUNK OF THE SUV DOES NOT OPEN ON A CONSISTANT BASIS,YOU HAVE TO USE THE LIFEGATE IF YOU WANT TO PUT OR TAKE OUT ANYTHING OUT THE TRUNK.
GOING TO WORK EARLY (6:35AM) MONDAY MORNING, DRIVING AROUND 35-40MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDENLY I HEAR A BIG BOOM AND THE SOUND OF SOMETHING BEING SPLATTER AND HITTING THE BACK OF MY HEAD. THE NEXT THING I KNOW I FEEL A BIG GUST OF COLD AIR IN THE CAR AND WHEN I LOOK THROUGH MY REAR VIEW MIRROR, I SEE THAT MY REAR LIFT GATE WINDOW HAD JUST EXPLODED. ALL THIS HAPPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THE BACK SEAT AND THE BACK OF THE SUV WERE COVERED WITH HUNDREDS OF PIECES OF GLASS. THE TWO HYDRAULIC BARS THAT CONTROL THE OPENING OF THE DOOR ALONG WITH THE REAR WINDOW WIPER ASSEMBLY WERE JUST HANGING THERE. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT SCARED ME TO DEATH. IT WAS JUST A BLESSING THAT IT WASN'T RAINING NOR SNOWING. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT FORD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND THAT I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THE REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT NECESSARY. WHY ME? IS IT NOT A FLAW IN THE DESIGN SOMEHOW? AFTER RESEARCHING I SEE THAT IT HAS HAPPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE REAR WINDOWS EXPLODING, JUST BECAUSE FORD DECIDED TO PUT THE HYDRAULIC BARS ON THE WINDOW. AGAIN SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, A POPPING NOISE WAS PRESENT AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WAS GETTING READY TO BACK INTO A MY PARKING SPACE, SO I HAD JUST PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT (GOING FORWARD) AND CAME TO ALMOST A STOP SO I COULD PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND MY CAR SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD, NO SOUNDS, NOTHING. BECAUSE IT HAD NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE AND I HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS, I THOUGHT I HAD DONE SOMETHING TO CAUSE IT. I STARTED IT BACK UP AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE TO BACK INTO THE PARKING SPOT. IT STARTED JUST FINE. *TR
THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE CAR WASH. ON THE WAY TO THE CAR WASH, THE VEHICLE WAS JUMPING FORWARD WHILE HE WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. DRIVER CONTINUED ON TO THE CAR WASH. AS HE WAS PULLING FORWARD AT THE CAR WASH(VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE), THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING AGAIN AND WHEN DRIVER PUSHED ON THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE JERKED BACK ON IT'S OWN AND CRUSHED A BRICK WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. *JS
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME WHEN THE CAR SLOWED ALMOST TO A STOP AND STARTED MAKING A JERKING MOTION. I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH POWER TO STAY IN TRAFFIC SO I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE AND SHUT IT OFF. BY THIS TIME THE WRENCH SIGNAL CAME ON THE DASH. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT SEEMED OK SO I DROVE IT TO A NEARBY GARAGE MY MECHANIC OWNS. IT SLOWED DOWN AGAIN AND STARTED JERKING ON THE WAY. I SHUT IT OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND DROVE 2 MORE BLOCKS TO THE GARAGE. THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR COMPUTER AND SAID IT NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE SENSOR. IT WORKS FINE AGAIN AFTER A BILL OF $455.68. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH I LOST POWER STEERING. ALMOST IN ACCIDENT WITH BARRIER. AT FIRST I THOUGHT CAR SHUT OFF, BUT REALIZED COULD STILL STEER WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY. TOOK VEHICLE TO SHOP AND WAS TOLD ECU WAS BAD, $1050 FOR REPAIR. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THE 2008-2011 WAS ON A RECALL FOR A TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE. CALL FORD TO NO AVAIL. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED, NOR DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. DEALER FOUND CODE STATING THE ECU WAS BAD? WAITING ON PART. *TR
MY CAR DECELERATED RAPIDLY AND WAS UNRESPONSIVE WHEN APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF A BUSY INTERSTATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE CAR BEHAVED AS IF IT WERE GOING TO SHUT DOWN. THE "WRENCH" INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON, (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT). I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED, AND THE CAR WAS RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL. I STILL FELT THAT THE CAR WAS "DRAGGING". I THINK IT IS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH AND THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING RUMBLING NOISES AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE AS IF WERE TRYING TO SHUT OFF, I TRIED TO GIVE IT SOME GAS SO IT WOULDN'T STALL BUT WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR SURGES OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I CONTACTED MIKE DAVIDSON FORD WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, THEY ACTED AS IF THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT AND TRIED TO SCHEDULE ME FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT $89 TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THAT'S CRIMINAL, THIS CAR SHOULD BE REPAIRED QUICKLY AND AT THEIR EXPENSE! IF THIS HAPPENS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR ON THE INTERSTATE IT WILL BE VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
AS I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON MY WAY TO WORK, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, THEN OIL CAN LIGHT AND THEN THE CAR STALLED/SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO RE-START IT AND IT WOULDN'T WORK. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I TURNED MY HAZARDS ON SO FOLKS WOULD KNOW TO PASS ME. I STARTED DIALING AAA AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. IT DID START AND NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID PROBABLY JUST A COMPUTER GLITCH AND TO JUST DRIVE IT AROUND MY WORK PARKING LOT A FEW TIMES, THEY HADN'T HEARD OF THIS. THEN I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND IT COULD BE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THEM TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT THIS WEEKEND. NO PROBLEMS SINCE THE INITIAL STALL. *TR
THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO US A BEING CAPABLE OF BEING TOWED BEHIND A MOTOR HOME. DURING THE TOWING PROCESS, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME SO HOT THAT COMPONENTS OF THE DRIVE TRAIN MELTED AND LIQUEFIED AS DETERMINED BY FORD. THIS PRESENTS A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN AS THE CAR COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND THERE WOULD BE NO WAY WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN EXPLOSION OR WORSE. WE HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT FORD, WITHOUT TELLING US, ISSUED A BULLETIN STATING THAT THE CAR CAN NOT IN FACT BE TOWED. THIS INFORMATION HAS NOT BEEN WIDELY DISTRIBUTED AND NONE OF THE FORD DEALERS WE TALKED TO WERE AWARE OF IT. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE WEBSITES FROM MOTOR HOME MAGAZINE AND EDMONDS AS WELL AS OTHERS THAT STILL LIST THE 2012 ESCAPE AS A GOOD CHOICE FOR MOTOR HOME TOW VEHICLES. *TR
MADE LEFT HAND TURN FROM A STOP SIGN, AS ACCELERATING, LOST POWER., PUT IT IN NEUTRAL STARTED IT AGAIN, PUT IN GEAR, ACCELERATED, APPROX 30 FT, DID IT AGAIN, I PULLED OVER, CALLED ROADSIDE ASSIST, IT WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT, NEXT DAY, THEY "SAID" IT WOULD COST ME 104.50(ISH) TO HAVE IT ANALYZED, I SAID OK, LATER THEY FINALLY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE AIR INTAKE MODULE WAS CLOGGED, THIS ALL COST ME 184.18. THEY ALSO SAID THAT I HAVE AN OIL LEAK, AND HE WAS GOING TO "TRY" TO GET IT FIXED ON MY DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY, BUT DIDN'T KNOW AT THE TIME IF HE COULD, NOW THE CONTROL ARM IS A DIFFERENT STORY, HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS ALSO, HE WOULD LET ME KNOW. AS SHE CLIMBED A HILL A FEW BLOCKS AROUND THE CORNER FROM HER HOME AND STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN ON THE CREST OF THE HILL. THE 2012 FORD ESCAPED LURCHED/SURGED FORWARD UNCONTROLLABLY. AS FROM HER DESCRIPTION, SHE HEARD LOUD RUMBLINGS COMING FROM THE ENGINE; THE ESCAPE SHOOK AND LAUNCHED HER FORWARD WHILE SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE ESCAPE PROPELLED HER UNCONTROLLABLY FORWARD CRASHING INTO A LARGE BOULDER, SHE THEN RICOCHETED ACROSS TWO LANES UP HILL, OVER AN EMBANKMENT /WALL, JUST MISSING A TREE, COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE PUSHING IT APPROXIMATELY THREE FEET, PASSED THAT INTO ANOTHER SMALL WALL JUST MISSING THE HOUSE. WE ARE THANKFUL ON MANY LEVELS; THAT OUR DAUGHTER WAS NOT WITH HER, THAT OUR MOM WAS NOT SEVERELY INJURED AND NO ONE ELSE WAS INJURED. PUT HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PULLED INTO NEARBY PARKING LOT AFTER ALMOST GETTING RUN IN TO BY ANOTHER CAR WHO DID NOT SLOW DOWN IN RESPONSE TO HAZARD LIGHTS. TURNED CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN. PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. IN DRIVING TO DEALERSHIP FOR CHECK, THE CAR STALLED OUT/ENTERED LIMP HOME MODE 2 MORE TIMES. COMPUTER UPDATE DONE. CAR STILL HAVING ENGINE SURGES MULTIPLE TIMES ON WAY HOME. BROUGHT TO SECOND DEALERSHIP WHICH SAID FIRST DEALER MADE COMPUTER ADJUSTMENTS INCORRECTLY. AWAITING PICKUP OF CAR FOR 2ND TIME TO SEE IF CORRECTED. TWO PROBLEMS HERE. FIRST ONE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY THAT I NOTICED A FEW YEARS AGO BUT I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE I CALLED FORD REGARDING THIS. OCCASIONALLY, ESPECIALLY IN THE HOTTEST DAYS, WHEN I HIT THE GAS TO GET INTO TRAFFIC, MY CAR DOESN'T SPEED UP. IT JUST SITS THERE, WHICH HAS PUT ME IN MANY DANGEROUS POSITIONS WHERE I END UP PULLING UP IN FRONT OF A FAST MOVING CAR, BUT SINCE MINE FAILS TO SPEED UP EVEN IF I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY, THOSE CARS END UP ALMOST HITTING ME FROM BEHIND. AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS IT FINALLY TAKES OFF, SPINNING THE TIRES AND AGAIN PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK OF BEING HIT. THIS HAPPENS MORE OFTEN WHEN MY CAR IS ON A DOWNHILL STOP SIGN A FEW BLOCKS DOWN MY STREET WHERE I CAN ONLY GO LEFT OR RIGHT. I MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, BUT MY CAR JUST ROLLS INTO THE STREET WITH NO POWER IN THE GAS PEDAL FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS. I NOTIFIED FORD AFTER GOING ONLINE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WETTING WITH MY CAR, AND FINDING OUT THAT THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CERTAIN 2012 MODELS, INCLUDING MY CAR BASED ON THE VIN #. THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE MY CAR TO A DEALER BUT SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOUR ANY OUT OF POCKET CHARGES. THE DEALER SAID THEY NEEDED AN OFFICIAL LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER IN ORDER TO NOT INCUR ANY FEES. BUT NEITHER FORD OR CARMAX EVER NOTIFIED ME WITH ANY ACTUAL DOCUMENTATION, WHICH MADE ME WEARY TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THAT I HAVE NOTICED A GASOLINE SMELL IN MY CAR FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW, IT'S VERY RANDOM AND HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH. I ATTRIBUTE IT TO DRIVING PAST A GAS STATION OR A SEMITRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY OR JUST NORMAL FOR CARS TO SMELL OF GASOLINE SOMETIMES. THE SMELL ONLY SEEMS TO LAST ABOUT 30 SECONDS.
TOOK MY 2012 ESCAPE TO THE DEALER FOR AUTHORIZED RECALL REPLACEMENT OF TORQUE SENSOR. WHEN PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, FOUND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. BACKED IT BACK INTO THE GARAGE AND THE MECHANIC SAID HE WOULD TAKE A LOOK. SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK. NO CODES WERE THROWN. Unknown. Both rear wheel wells are rusting away. Chunks of this falls off while I’m driving. I do believe that falling rusty chunks of metal may harm another driver that will either run over it and flatten a tire. Or that someone may swerve to miss a piece and cause an accident.

2 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS DATE, I WAS GOING HOME, 50MPH MERGING TOWARDS ANOTHER LANE WHEN THE CAR, ALL OF A SUDDEN, BEGAN SHAKING AND THE ACCELERATION SLOWED DOWN TREMENDOUSLY. I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA STALL SO I DECIDED TO PUSH MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PARKED ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. IT WAS TRAFFIC TIME, BUT LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT. A MINUTE LATER, I TURNED ON THE ENGINE AND DROVE, AND I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. ON APRIL 1, 2014, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON I-5, SAN DIEGO, CA GOING 60, I HEARD A THUD, AND WHEN I LOOKED AT THE DASHBOARD, THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON I WAS ABLE TO COAST VERY SLOWLY TO THE RIGHT, NARROW SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. EVERY DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS SO MAD, BLOWING THEIR HORN. A MINUTE LATER, I TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND LEFT. I ARRIVED AT WORK VERY UPSET, DISTURBED, AND STILL A BIT SHAKING. I COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR PILE-UP, AND PERHAPS I COULD HAVE BEEN IN SEVERELY INJURED. THAT AFTERNOON, WHEN I DROVE HOME, I TOOK THE INLAND STREET TO BE A LITTLE SAFER. AND LO AND BEHOLD, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SO WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, I QUICKLY PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THEN I PROCEEDED DRIVING HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE NOT BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER YET BECAUSE I WANT TO ENSURE THE PROBLEM IS COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. ON APRIL 8, 2014, I WILL DRIVE MY CAR TO PERRY FORD IN NATIONAL CITY, CA. I WAS GOING ABOUT 40 AND STARTING TO SLOW DOWN FOR A YELLOW LIGHT, WHEN THE CAR JUST DIED. NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS (THAT I REMEMBERED, BECAUSE I PANICKED), NO SOUNDS. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND SO I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO START THE CAR. NOTHING. NO SOUNDS, NOTHING. I THEN TURNED ON MY FLASHERS. TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN, NOTHING. I WAITED ABOUT 3 MIN. AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. IT HAS NOT DONE IT IN THE 2 DAYS SINCE, BUT I AM NOW TO SCARED TO DRIVE ME CAR AFRAID THAT IT WILL DIE AND I WILL CAUSE A CAR PILE UP.
