I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, CAME TO A STOP SIGN, STOPPED AND PROCEEDED TO PRESS GAS AND TURN INTO LANE. THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND ALMOST STALLED. IT DID NOT STOP RUNNING HOWEVER IT WOULD ONLY MOVE APPROX 1 MPH. JUST ENOUGH TO PULL OF ROAD AND PARK. WHEN I RESTARTED, THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING. WHEN IN LOW GEAR, THE CAR WOULD JUMP FORWARD AND STOP, JUMP FORWARD AND STOP. IN DRIVE, IT WOULD ONLY GO 1 MPH.I TOOK CAR TO FORD AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR AND THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN/POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AND WOULD COST ME $520. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 15 MPH WHEN I STARTED TO ACCELERATE I FELT THE VEHICLE JERK. I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION AND CHECKED MY TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT WAS NEAR EMPTY. A DIAGNOSTIC OF THE POWER TRAIN AT AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP REVEALED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON YOUTUBE AND VARIOUS CONSUMER SITES TO THE SHOOTY DESIGN OF THE 4 CYLINDER FORD ESCAPE MODELS. IN THE END, FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THE TRANSMISSIONS ON THE ESCAPE MODELS. TO FIX MY TRANSMISSION FROM LEAKING THEY REPLACED THE SEALS AND INFORMED ME TO CHECK MY FLUIDS EVERY MONTH. I WAS INFORMED BY THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP BEFORE HAND, THAT JUST REPLACING THE SEALS WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH AND I CAN EXPECT THE PROBLEM AGAIN. THE CAR NOW HAS LESS THAN 52000 MILES, MOSTLY HIGHWAY. THE POWER TRAINS HAVE A FLAWED DESIGN AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE THOUSAND OF MOTORIST ARE FORCED TO PAY FOR EXPENSIVE REMEDIES DUE TO NO FAULT OF THERE OWN. IT IS UP TO THE GOVERNMENT TO FORCE A RECALL ON THE FORD ESCAPE POWER TRAIN SYSTEMS. *TR
INTERMITTENT VEHICLE STALLS, WHICH IS TYPICALLY MORE COMMON AS WELL AS SURGES WHEN ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED (BETWEEN 15 AND 25 MPH) THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT LIFTED MY FOOT UP FROM THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JANUARY OF 2012, REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER OR THE SEASON. I HAVE GONE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR AND HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE STALLS AND SURGES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. THANK YOU YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR
AFTER SLOWING DOWN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I FELT A JOLT OR THRUST FORWARD. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE DASHBOARD I NOTICED THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS LIT. I TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR GAS AND IT WENT NO WHERE. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND LOOK UP THE LIGHT IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. IT SAID IT WAS A POWER TRAIN/THROTTLE BODY FAULT. AFTER WAITING 15 MINUTES FOR A TOW TRUCK I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR AND IT STARTED NORMALLY. THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY THE REST OF THE DAY. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED THE NEXT MORNING. THEY EVENTUALLY TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED/SHORTED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE I WAS 700 MILES OVER. AFTER FILING A CASE WITH FORD AND DOING RESEARCH, I NOTICED SEVERAL OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT AVERAGELY ABOUT 40 MPH THE POWER STEERING ON THE FORD ESCAPE 2012 JUST FAILS. THIS MAKES IT INCREDIBLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO CUT OFF THE CAR AND START IT AGAIN. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST AND IS STILL CONTINUING TO HAPPEN SPORADICALLY EVEN AFTER BEING TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AT WHICH THEY CLAIM EACH TIME THAT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. I REALLY HOPE FORD TAKES TIME TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED AND THERE IS A HUGE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AS I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURS ON DIFFERENT FORD MODELS ACROSS MULTIPLE YEAR MODELS. *TR
AFTER DARK ONE NIGHT (I COULDN'T SEE THAT THE HOOD WAS CRACKED OPEN) WHILE ACCELERATING ON A HIGHWAY THE HOOD BLEW OPEN-SAFETY CATCH DID NOT HOLD HOOD SHUT. IT BENT BACK TO THE WINDSHIELD, I COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD AND LUCKILY WAS NOT KILLED IN A CRASH. BODY SHOP INSTALLED NEW HOOD AND LATCHES AND SAFETY CATCH ETC. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE SAFETY CATCH STOPPED OPERATING. I TIED IT DOWN WITH ROPE TO THE FRAME AND DROVE IT FOR A WHILE. I COULDN'T GET TO THE BODY SHOP BECAUSE I NEVER GOT OUT OF WORK ON TIME. WHILE HAVING THE OIL CHANGED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER TRIED TO FIX THE LATCH MECHANISM AND COULDN'T SO HE ORDERED A NEW ONE, INSTALLED IT AND CHARGED IT TO THE BODY SHOP. THE HOOD RELEASE HANDLE AND PARKING BRAKE RELEASE HANDLE ARE INCHES APART FROM EACH OTHER WHICH IS A POOR DESIGN, BUT REGARDLESS WHEN THE HOOD IS POPPED THE SAFETY CATCH SHOULD PREVENT IT FROM OPENING. A RELATIVE WHO DROVE MY VEHICLE KEPT POPPING THE HOOD ACCIDENTALLY BECAUSE HE WEARS A LEG BRACE WHICH CAUGHT ON THE RELEASE HANDLE. LUCKILY I HAD THE HOOD TIED OFF. I MAY ALSO TIE THE HOOD WITH ROPE AGAIN AS I DON'T HAVE MUCH CONFIDENCE IN THESE PARTS. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE HAPPEN TO ME. OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE COULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. THE HOOK THAT CATCHES THE HOOD SEEMS TO LOOSEN UP FROM ITS ASSEMBLY AND FALL FORWARD TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE CAR THEREBY NOT ALIGNING WITH THE HOOD. *TR
WHEN PULLING OUT FROM AN INTERSECTION, I EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT POWER LOSS WHICH RESULTED IN VEHICLE LOAFING FORWARD THEN STALLING OR ENTERING SAFETY MODE LOW IDLE MANEUVERABILITY WITH WRENCH LIGHT ON. I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HAD TO SHUT OFF THE CAR, PLACE IN PARK THEN RESTART ONLY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LURCH THEN SHUT OFF OR RETURN TO SAFETY IDLE AGAIN BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE STREET SAFELY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON RESULTING IN TROUBLE CODE P2111 "CURRENT" FAULT THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN AND CODE P2112 " PENDING THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK CLOSED. *TR
SUNROOF/MOONROOF OF OUR 2012 FORD ESCAPE EXPLODED FOR NO REASON A YEAR AND A HALF AFTER PURCHASE. LUCKILY, WE HAD THE COVER SHUT OR IT WOULD'VE INJURED US AND OUR SMALL CHILD. FORD DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT, THEY WANTED US TO CLAIM IT ON OUR CAR INSURANCE. I HAD (AND STILL HAVE) PLENTY OF PICTURES DOCUMENTING THAT THIS HAPPENED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. NOTHING CRASHED INTO THE SUNROOF CAUSING IT TO EXPLODE. IT WAS OBVIOUS THE SUNROOF EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT; IT LOOKED LIKE A VOLCANO. FORD STILL REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THIS COULD'VE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITATION. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE TOWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE WARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,600.
CAR SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES A DAY DURING ACCELERATION , WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED. TOOK IT FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND P211 WAS THE CODE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY IT COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND WOULDN'T STOP TO COMPLETION. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR AND STARTING IT BACK UP AGAIN, THE CAR FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL. THE FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY AND ASKED ME TO PAY OVER $600 FOR THE REPAIR, AS THE VEHICLE WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GLITCH BUT THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND WAS A POP AND I HAD NO GAS AT ALL. I HAD TO COAST OFF THE FREEWAY. THE REPAIR BILL WAS OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT IS NOT COVERED IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. THE LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN IDLE. AFTER PULLING OVER AND PUTTING IT IN PARK, I TRIED TO REV IT UP BUT IT WOULDN'T REV. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS THEN CRANKED IT UP. IT STARTED UP AND WHEN INTO GEAR. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS TURNING ONTO ANOTHER STREET. IT HAPPENED TWO DAYS LATER. I DID THE SAME THING. THAT SAME NIGHT, IT HAPPENED TO ME TWO MORE TIMES ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK. THE LAST TIME, NOT ONLY DID MY CAR DO IT AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO KICK IN GEAR SO IT WAS JERKING FORWARD. I THEN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT JUST IDLED BUT WOULD NOT REV UP. SO I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND PUT IT INTO GEAR AND IT WENT. I'VE TAKING IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT AND A FEW DIFFERENT PEOPLE ARE TELLING ME ITS THE SAME THING, THE ACCELERATOR OR THROTTLE IS STICKING. AND THAT ITS A THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH CAR REPAIRS. I'VE HAD MY ESCAPE FOR ONLY A YEAR AND I ALREADY HAVE TO DO REPAIRS ON IT. *TR
THIS OCCURS SPORATICALLY - THE GAS WILL STOP RESPONDING AND THE CAR WILL COMPLETELY DECELERATE WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE WRENCH SIGN APPEARS AND THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING, BUT I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHILE I'M DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR SPUTTERS A BIT, AND IF I TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON I AM ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING 65 ON THE INTERSTATE, MY FORD ESCAPE JUMPED FORWARD AND THEN SLOWLY SHUT DOWN. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING HOME AND TURNED ONTO A STREET AS I ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. I HAD MY FOOT AS LOW AS THE PEDAL WOULD GO AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I SWITCHED IT TO PARK TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT STARTED UP AND WAS FINE AT ACCELERATING. SO THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED ABOUT A MONTH LATER I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30MPH WHEN MY ESCAPE SLOWED DOWN AND COMPLETELY STALLED OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY STREET. I PUSHED SO FAR ON THE ACCELERATOR THAT THE PEDAL WAS AS LOW AS IT COULD GO BUT STILL NO MOVEMENT. I QUICKLY SWITCHED IT INTO PARK TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TURNING IT BACK ON BUT IT JUST MADE THE NOISE LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO START. SO I TRIED AGAIN AND IT FINALLY TURNED ON, SWITCHED TO DRIVE AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE STREET AS A SEMI WAS FLYING UP BEHIND ME. VERY SCARY MOMENT IN MY LIFE. I GOOGLED ABOUT THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT AN INVESTIGATION IS GOING ON REGARDING THE THROTTLE ON 2012 ESCAPES. I THINK MY VEHICLE MAY BE A PART OF THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 2 MPH AND TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR QUARTER OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT DID NOT TIGHTEN ON IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUFFERED NECK, SHOULDER AND FACIAL INJURIES. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED SEVERE INTERNAL HEAD INJURIES AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CONCUSSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,999.

MY VEHICLE WAS DRIVING EAST ON WILDCAT, TURNING NORTH ON LANG ROAD IN PORTLAND, TX. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND HAD A YELLOW BLINKING ARROW. THE CAR TRAVELING WEST ON WILDCAT HAD A YELLOW SOLID LIGHT. WHEN MY DAUGHTER WENT TO TURN THE OTHER CAR APPEARED TO SPEED UP AND HIT HER FRONT ON AT A ABOUT 35 MPH SPEED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID THE SEATBELT LOCK IN PLACE. MY DAUGHTER HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND WAS TAKEN TO THE ER. SHE IS OK, OTHER THAN A FEW SCRAPS AND BRUISES, HOWEVER I HAVE A MAJOR CONCERN THAT THE CAR I AM DRIVING AND SHE IS DRIVING IS NOT SAFE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP WAITING ON REPAIRS. I HAVE CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO REPORT AND THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT SHOULD BE GETTING BACK WITH ME. THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND NEEDS ROUGHLY 6,500 IN REPAIRS. I HAD STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND BEGAN JERKING FORWARD PARKED IN FRONT OF A BUSINESS AND PUT CAR IN PARK AND AGAIN PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND AGAIN IT DID NOT ACCELERATE. BACKED OUT AND PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND MOVED ABOUT 10 FEET FROM WHERE I HAD PARKED AND AGAIN IT JERKED FORWARD AND DID NOT ACCELERATE. TRIED MOVING A SECOND TIME WITH THE SAME RESULTS. PARKED IT AND TURNED IT OFF TO CALL A WRECKER. TRIED TURNING IT OFF AND TURNING IT ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WORKED; ACCELERATED WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED, DID NOT JERK AS IT HAD PREVIOUSLY. DROVE IT WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER IN WHARTON, TEXAS WHO PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. IT CAME UP WITH NO CODE. HE TOLD ME THAT THE FORD ESCAPES AND FUSIONS HAD A THROTTLE PROBLEM AND HE WAS SURE THAT WAS WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, HE REPLACED IT AT A COST OF $484.60. ALTHOUGH I HAD JUST PURCHASE THE CAR, USED ON JULY 13, 2013 AND WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR ENGINE AND POWERTRAIN, THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THIS EXPENSE. I FEEL THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT SEEING THAT I AM A WOMAN, HIS BOTTOM LINE WAS PROFIT AT ANY COST, HE DID NOT INFORM ME. NOW I FIND OUT THAT THE FORD ESCAPES ARE RIDDLED WITH PROBLEMS. SO MUCH FOR BUYING AMERICAN! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
MY 2012 FORD ESCAPE HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES, AND FROM WHAT I'M BEING TOLD IT'S NOT ONLY MY VEHICLE. IT SEEMS TO BE ALL OVER THE PLACE AS I DRIVE IT. ONE TIME AT A STOP LIGHT IT WILL SLIP, AND NOT GO INTO GEAR JUST ACTING LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL. THE NEXT TIME I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, AND IT WILL JAM IT SELF INTO GEAR ALMOST REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. IT DOES THE SAME AS I DRIVE IT I'M NEVER SURE WHICH RESULT I'M GOING TO GET, BUT I DO GET ONE OR THE OTHER. I'VE HAD IT INTO THREE FORD DEALERSHIPS A TOTAL OF SEVEN TIMES, BUT FROM REBOOTING THE SOFTWARE TO REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE LIMITED PARTS AVAILABLE IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. I WAS TOLD AT THE LAST DEALERSHIP THAT IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION, BUT NONE ARE AVAILABLE AS THEY HAVE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEM. I'VE COMPLAINED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO TOLD ME TO TALK TO CUSTOMER RELATIONS, AND THE CASE MANAGER DOESN'T CALL ME BACK. I FINALLY CALLED FORD CREDIT TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE SITUATION, BUT THEY JUST TRANSFERRED ME TO THE VOICEMAIL OF THE CASE MANAGER THAT DOESN'T CALL ME BACK. IF THEY ARE HAVING ALL THE COMPLAINTS I'VE BEEN TOLD ABOUT I THOUGHT SOMEONE SHOULD REPORT IT TO YOU BEFORE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
LEAVING THE PARKING SPACE, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER, PUTTER AND WOULD NOT TAKE GAS. WHEN THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF, THE WRENCH LIGHT GOES OUT AND THE CAR RUNS FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME WHICH WAS THE DAY AFTER I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 7/30/2013. ON 7/31/2013, THE SAME PROBLEM BEGAN ALL OVER AGAIN AND I HAD TO RETURN THE SUV TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR REPAIR. EACH TIME IT'S HAPPENED, I WAS FEARFUL FOR MY LIFE. *TR
NOTE, THIS HAS OCCURRED AT VARYING TIMES/DATES SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN 2012, HAS NOT JUST OCCURRED AT THE DATE LISTED. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE A PROLONGED HESITATION AND EVEN A LOSS IN SPEED WHEN SWITCHING VIA THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, NOT RANDOMLY. ALSO, WHEN GETTING UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED, THERE IS A HESITATION IF YOU TOUCH THE GAS TO ACCELERATE UP TO THE HIGHWAY SPEED; IT WILL HESITATE A FEW SECONDS BEFORE KICKING INTO ACCELERATION MODE. *TR
I PULLED OUT OF A POST OFFICE PARKING LOT ONTO A TWO LANE ROAD AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING ON ITS OWN EVEN THOUGH I WAS PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR. IT WAS CREEPING ALONG, BARELY MOVING, AND WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ME PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED A LOT BUT NEVER COMPLETELY STALLED. POWER STEERING, INTERIOR LIGHTING, ETC., WAS ALL WORKING FINE. THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT ON SHAPED LIKE A WRENCH. I PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND CONTINUED COASTING IN THIS MANNER TO THE NEXT AVAILABLE SPOT I COULD PULL OVER. AFTER PULLING OVER, I TURNED OFF THE CAR. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, AND THEN IT SEEMED TO BE IDLING AND RUNNING FINE. THE WARNING LIGHT SHAPED LIKE A WRENCH IS A "THROTTLE/POWERTRAIN" ISSUE INDICATOR. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE, I FOUND SEVERAL ARTICLES INDICATING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD ESCAPES. THE NORTH CAROLINE CONSUMERS COUNCIL RECOMMENDED OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE FILE A COMPLAINT. I FELT LUCKY THAT I DID NOT PULL OUT INTO A BUSY ROAD AND LOSE THROTTLE POWER LIKE THAT AND BE AT RISK OF GETTING T-BONED BY ANOTHER CAR. I AGREE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 AM WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN UP AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE STALLED - THE OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON - I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND RESTARTED - I LATER TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP - THEY SAID THEY CONTACTED THE FORD TECHNICAL HOTLINE AND ARE AWAITING A RESPONSE - THIS IS THE 3RD STALLING INCIDENT THE SECOND AT THE SAME LOCATION AND THE 1ST AFTER THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY - THE VEHICLE HAS AROUND 11,000 MILES. *TR
WITHIN THE LAST WEEK, I HAVE EXPERIENCED REPEATED INCIDENTS OF STALLING WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO THE INITIAL FAILURE OR PRIOR TO SUBSEQUENT FAILURES. I AM AFRAID THAT IF THIS CONTINUES IT COULD END UP IN A WRECK WITH SOMEONE GETTING INJURED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE ENGINE MOUNT BOLT SHEARED OFF AND CAUSED THE TO ENGINE TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE MOUNT BOLT HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,600.
RUST PROBLEMS IN THE REAR QUARTER PANELS BOTH SIDES DRIVER AND PASSENGER. THE DEAL I WENT TO TOLD ME UPFRONT FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH 2012 MODELS BUT WILL NOT REPAIR UNLESS RUST IS ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE PANELS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER AT NO COST. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED FORD WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. TAKE A LOOK ON THE ROAD NO VEHICLES HAVE RUST PROBLEMS THESE DAYS. EXCEPT FOR FORD. THEY EITHER USED THE WRONG PRIMER OR DID A POOR PAINT JOB. THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS RUST PROBLEM AND FIX IT AT NO CHARGE.
ON 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DOOR LATCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, I'VE BEEN LOCKED IN AND OUT OF MY VEHICLE, MY HUSBAND IS DISABLE AND I HAD TO CLIMB THROUGH THE HATCH BACK TO GET DOORS TO OPEN. I AM AFRAID OF THIS VEHICLE, IF IT CATCHES FIRE WILL I GET OUT? I FEEL THIS IS A DEATH TRAP AND FORD IS JUST SOOTHING MY FEATHERS TO KEEP ME HAPPY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE CONDENSER EXHIBITED A HOLE AND WAS LEAKING COOLING FLUID. THE CONDENSER WAS UNPROTECTED AND EXPOSED, ALLOWING ROAD DEBRIS TO ENTER AND PUNCTURE THE CONDENSER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY OFFERED TO COVER 50 PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

INSTALL NEW SLAVE CYL & ADAPTER. ASSEMBLE VEHICLE, NO LEAKS FOUND INSIDE BELL HOUSING, BUT CLUTCH LIVE FROM MASTER CYL TO SLAVE CYL WILL NOT SEAL PROPERLY. INSTALL LINE, BLEED SYSTEM & RETEST, ALL PASS. 52-3: MANUAL TRANSMISSION SLAVE CYLINDER- HYDRAULIC CLUTCH - REPLACE. *TR
WHEN MOVING FORWARD FROM A DEAD STOP AT AN INTERSECTION OF A BUSY HIGHWAY, THE AUTOMOBILE ENGINE HESITATES OR SEMI STALLS AND WILL NOT PICK UP NORMAL SPEED IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF APPROACHING,ON COMING AND FOLLOWING VEHICLES. AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES WE WERE ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY VEHICLES BEHIND US, OR HIT FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE OR FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE'S HESITATION WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS OR MAJOR HIGHWAYS. I CALLED THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY TOLD ME A BUG PROBABLY GOT IN MY AIR FILTER. ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC DOING 75. I ALMOST GOT SMASHED IN THE REAREND. MANAGED TO RESTART. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I PICKED IT UP AND DROVE IT HOME, ALMOST CAUSE A 4 CAR PILEUP ON THE INTERSTATE. MY GUARDIAN ANGEL IS WORN OUT! FINALLY GOT A CODE TO POP UP AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. NO RECALL ON THIS PART EVEN THO IT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE. *TR

PERFORM LEAKDOWN & PRESSURE TEST, FIND THAT INTAKE VALVES IN 3 & 4 ARE NOT SEALING. REMOVE VALVE COVER & INSPECT CAMSHAFTS, NO DAMAGE FOUND. SPIN VEHICLE OVER & VERIFY TIMING. FIND THAT CRANK PULLEY HAS BRACKET OUT & VEHICLE HAS JUMPED TIME. 51-1: REMOVE INTAKE, EXHAUST MANIFOLD, TIMING COMPONENTS & CYL HEAD. INSPECT AND FINDS THAT VALVES IN 3,4 HAVE CONTACTED PISTONS, NO DAMAGE FOUND ON PISTONS. INSTALL NEW HEAD GASKET, CYL HEAD BOLTS, 2 NEW DIAMOND WASHERS, ALL RELATED GASKETS & PERFORM TIMING PROCEDURE. ASSEMBLE VEHICLE, CHANGE OIL & FILL FL. 52-2 KOEO, PASS. ROER VEHICLE HAS DTC PO524. PERFORM PINPOINT TEST, REPLACE VCT SOLENOID, KOER ALL PASS. TEST DRIVE. VEHICLE RUNS PROPERLY AT THIS TIME. 51-5: CYLINDER HEAD GASKET- LEAKAGE (EXTERNAL LEAKS)- TEST. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO GET A SECOND OPINION SINCE THE FIRST DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETECT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

I HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. THE DEARLERSHIP SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM,BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. I HAD 8402 MILES ON IT AND NOW HAVE APPROXIMATELY 9400 AND I AM STILL RETURNING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAID IT CAN POSSIBLY BE THE ADAPT SHIFT STRATEGY, WHICH IS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS TO LEARN THE DRIVER. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP HAS THE VEHICLE THEY STATE THE VEHICLE DOESN'T DO IT. WHEN I PICK THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN AFTER ONLY DRIVING IT ABOUT 26-30 MILES. I KNOW IT IS THE TRANSMISSION AND I FEEL FORD IS NEGLECTING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE PERFORMING BETTER THAN THE 2005 FORD ESCAPE (4 CYLINDER) I PREVIOUSLY OWNED, AND WAS SATISFIED WITH. THIS 6 CYLINDER HAS NO POWER TO GO. I WAS DRIVING MY ESCAPE ABOUT 15 MPH AND WENT TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN, THE TOTAL CAR DID NOTHING. I JUST HESITATED AND STUMBLED THEN FINALLY ACCELERATED. IT HAS DONE THIS SINCE NEW, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE DRIVE BY WIRE SYSTEM THEY USE NOW. THIS MAKES ME NERVOUS IF IN A SUDDEN AVOIDANCE SITUATION AND CAN'T AVOID IT. *TR

I COASTED TO A SAFE PLACE WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, PUT IT IN PARK, AND IT STARTED UP ON THE FIRST TRY. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN (IT HAS BEEN 6 DAYS). THE FORD DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND HAS INSTALLED A RECORDER TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WKS. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY OCCURRENCE AND I AM NERVOUS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. SOMETHING LIKE THIS, COULD HAVE A VERY SERIOUS CATASTROPHIC OUTCOME. *TR

THIS MORNING I SAW THE CNN NEWS TICKER STATING YOU ARE INVESTIGATING THE FORD F150'S FOR ECO-BOOST ACCELERATION ENGINE STALLS. I HAVE A 2012 FORD ESCAPE AND THIS VERY SAME THING HAS OCCURRED TO ME 3 TIMES. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE DATES, BUT IT HAS BEEN WITHIN THE LAST YEAR, BECAUSE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE JULY 2012. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE STALLED - THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON - I PUT IT IN PARK TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND RESTARTED - I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP - THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT VERIFY THE CONCERN - THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT. *TR
