The contact owns a 2012 Ford Escape. The contact purchased MOOG aftermarket lug nuts, Serial Number: 19112401H, Part Number: LK015 and LK016. The contact was unable to tighten the lug nuts. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000. Purchased MOOG parts LK015 and LK016 are wheel bearing/knuckle subassemblies which contain wheel lug nuts. Purchased through CARID.com. inspecting the torque of the lug nuts roughly 3,000 miles after install, the lug nuts were not able to be installed; the Wheel Studs had FAILED. My assessment as an aerospace engineer is that the studs had stretched to failure due to defective material used in manufacture of the studs. Luck is the only factor that caused this to be discovered when the vehicle was stopped and not resulting in a wheel falling off at highway speed. Immediate repairs were required at a cost of $575. Receipts available. CARID.com as well as MOOG were contacted and engineering expertise was offered to assist in correcting the issue. MOOG refused to answer my calls. MOOG repeatedly removed product reviews detailing unsafe materials used. CARID refused all solutions except replacement with the same unsafe parts. Multiple reviews removed from the CARID.com website detailing unsafe parts; documentation available. This refusal to address the problem and removal of reviews indicates willful endangerment of human life with unsafe critical components.
I have a 2012 Ford Escape what the following safety malfunctions: 1. Driver's door malfunction Driver's side door failed to close/ door lock ajar even when system door lock buttons are pressed. It first began June 1, 2021. Door flung open while driving my daughter and I to school and work. I had to hold the door with one hand and steer with other as this door malfunction posed a safety risk to others. Hazzard light for door is functioning when key is in ignition. I am in the process of contacting the dealer for inspection and servicing the vehicle. 2. Steering wheel Steering wheel will sometimes lock up while key is in ignition not long after starting the car. When this vehicle is in this state of condition, it will not turn and steering wheel will lock in place while in motion. Began noticing more of the occurrences February 2021. When this happens I immediately restart the vehicle by turning it off and then on again to unlock the steering wheel to drive in the direction I need to go. This poses a major risk to others, my 9 year old daughter and myself because it happens unexpectedly while car is in motion which can lead to incidents. 3. Check engine light Car warning light appears and then disappears on any occasion. Vehicle has passed Smog testing, and has previously been serviced for tune-up and oil changes regularly. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AT 20-35 MPH, WHEN HE CHOKED ON FOOD AND PASSED OUT, WHICH THEN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT TIGHTENED TO STOP HER FROM GOING FORWARD TOWARDS THE DASHBOARD DURING THE COLLISION. THE CONTACT AND HER HUSBAND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING LOT AND DEEMED TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER CAR-MART OF NORTH LITTLE ROCK (6601 WARDEN RD, SHERWOOD, AR 7212) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP FAILED DURING HIGHWAY DRIVE TO WORK. BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT. STOPPING CAR BECAME DIFFICULT. AFTER BOOSTER PUMP WAS REPLACED, FRONT BRAKES BEGAN TO STICK CAUSING BRAKES TO OVERHEAT. ABS/HCU CONTROL MODULE ALSO REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. FORD DOES NOT CURRENTLY RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM A FREQUENTLY OCCURRING ISSUE.
LOST POWER STEERING WHILE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND IT FIXED IT. RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE VEHICLE UP TO 2011 MODEL. SOME OF THE PARTS CARRIED OVER TO 2012. 2012 NEEDS RECALL ALSO. VERY DANGEROUS.
TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF. NO MAINTENANCE LIGHTS COME ON BUT MANAGED TO SLOWLY PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. TURNED OFF VEHICLE FOR 5 MINS, THEN TURN BACK ON AND STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. LUCKILY I WAS JUST 2 MILES AWAY FROM MY DESTINATION. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL. IT APPEARS THOUGH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL BUT DIFFERENT YEARS 2008-2011 WERE RECALLED FOR SAME THING. I AM TOTALLY TERRIFIED TO DRIVE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN WITHOUT ANY WARNING.
There is something not connecting right when you accelerate from a stopped position. From when you first start the car and begin to drive to slowing down to a complete stop as soon as you begin to accelerate there is almost no going right away when you push down on the pedal. It takes almost 10 seconds or more to even begin to stay with on coming traffic. You have to be at a 3 rpm to even shift to go a little more faster then the speed starts to increase if able. It is available when needed to look over at any point and I dont feel safe driving as theres something not right with the connection to the fuel I believe and it feels like. I have taken it to a local shop and they looked it over and didnt seem to find or see much but they cleaned the air flow meter but that didnt do the trick? Also while driving the car tends to veer to the left with or with no wind. It doesnt like to stay straight while driving and thats also unsafe as the driver your doing everything to stay straight. Have not been inspected by anyone other than the local shop I trust and is family friend. Have never noticed or seen any defective lights come on since I purchased the vehicle. I noticed this not even a month into purchasing and I took it to where I purchased the vehicle and asked about it and they said its normal in this older ford escape? I was kinda stunned and annoyed so I just left. Also when the ac is on it seems to take even more power to try and get going I have noticed. I also have tried to upload a photo of an invoice and my computer isnt allowing me?
LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING ON A COLD DAY (20-30 DEGREES), THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR COULD BE STEERED WITH SOME DIFFICULTY BUT THERE DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE ANY POWER ASSIST AT ALL. NO WARNINGS OR ERROR MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR CORRECTED THE PROBLEM, AT LEAST FOR NOW.
VEHICLE IN MOTION PULLING IN PARKING LOT, UPON TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN TO A PARKING SPOT STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN RIGHT OR LEFT ALMOST FEELING AS IF IT WERE SEIZING UP. TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE ON THAT DATE, FEB. 10, 2021 WAS APPROXIMATELY 20-30 DEGREES. VEHICLE HAS 61,158 MILES. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, ONCE RESTARTED STEERING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. FEARFUL THIS WILL AGAIN ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING ON MAIN ROADS IN TRAFFIC AND POSSIBLY GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE TORQUE SENSOR TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THAT THERE WOULD BE NO ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,009.
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING A FEW TIMES. FORD SERVICE CENTER DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM, WOULD VISIT ANOTHER SERVICE CENTER. RECALL SEEMS TO BE ISSUED FOR SIMILAR PROBLEM FOR SAME MODEL, MANUFACTURED AT SAME FACILITY AROUND SAME TIME. HOWEVER THERE SEEMS TO BE NO RECALL FOR THIS VIN. PLEASE ADVISE
LOST POWER ASSIST FOR STEERING WHEN I TURNED LEFT AROUND AN ISLAND ON A BUSY STREET IN THE MIDDLE OF A CITY.
TURNING THE VEHICLE BECOMES VERY STRENUOUS/HEAVY WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS (INTO PARKING LOTS, DRIVEWAYS, ETC). DIFFICULTY TURNING IS NOTICED MOSTLY DURING RIGHT HAND TURNS. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO WILL NOT TURN ITSELF BACK AFTER MAKING A TURN. ALL OF THE ISSUES I HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM IS CONSISTENT WITH THE POWER STEERING RECALL WHICH ONLY INCLUDED FORD ESCAPES UP TO 2011.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Escape. The contact stated while his wife was driving at 35 MPH and attempting to make a turn, the electrical power steering became stiff. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated when his wife turned off the vehicle and restarted it, she noticed the electrical power steering had loosened up. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated the failure had been recurring. The failure reoccurred today while driving. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.
ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, WHILE DRIVING, MY STEERING GOES OUT BUT THE CAR IS STILL POWERED. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION BUT SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE RIGHT HAND TURNS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON LOCAL CITY STREETS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO HIGHER SPEEDS AND THE DANGER OF CRASH AT HIGHER SPEEDS. IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. ONCE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND STARTED AGAIN, THE POWER RETURNS. THE CAUSE FOR THIS IS UNKNOWN, EXCEPT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME ISSUE AS THE STEERING RECALLS FOR THE 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPE MODELS PREVIOUSLY.
DRIVING ON A OFF RAMP SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER STEERING NO WARNING MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND COULD BARELY CONTROL/MANEUVER THE VEHICLE THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH FORD ESCAPE HENCE THE RECALL ON 2009-2011 MODELS WHY AREN'T THE 2012 MODELS INCLUDED, THIS VERY UNSAFE!
WHERE THE SUNGLASS HOLDER IN THE VISOR IS: IT POURS IN WATER EVERY TIME IT RAINS. WATER STAINS ON VISOR & HEADLINER. GETS THE SHIIFTER CONSOLE WET; WITH POOLS OF WATER IN CUP HOLDERS & SOAKS DRIVERS SEAT. VEHICLE IS PARKED WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT HAS MOON ROOF - SO I CHECKED THAT & ITS COMPLETELY CLOSED.WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY RAIN STORM. CONCERNED IT WILL FREEZE AS THE WEATHER GETS COLDER & CAUSE MORE DAMAGE TO INCLUDE WINDSHIELD FRACTURE.

TURNED VEHICLE OFF RESTARTED WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME TOOK TO DEALER THEY STATEED THEY FOUND NOTHING.A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS PROBLEM HAS ACUURED FOR SOME TIME IN THIS MODLE PLEASE THIS IS DANGEROUS

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V777000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 185,000.
EVERY TIME IT RAINS WATER SEEMS TO BE COMING THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S THROUGH A FAULTY WINDOW SEAL OR DOOR SEAL.
WITHIN THE PAST 2 YRS THE ABS HAS GONE OUT COMPLETELY ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. VERY DANGEROUS AND TRAUMATIZING...
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT DONT MATTER WHERE YOU ARE EITHER. SO IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK AGAIN YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR VEHICLE IN PARK TURN IT OFF WAIT AND RESTART IT. THERE ARE TIMES YOU HAVE DO DO THIS MULTIPLE TIMES. IT IS NOT SAFE TO LOSE YOUR ABILITY TO STEER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE WAS RECALLED ON 2008 TO 2011 BUT THE SAME PARTS WERE USED ON THE 2012. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN YOUR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE BUT IT JUST GETTING WORSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER DOOR WAS CLOSED BUT FAILED TO LATCH SECURELY. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START-UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LATCH FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,685.
AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY MY CAR HAD A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE WAS RACING SO I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK WHICH HAD NO EFFECT SO I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN AT FULL SPEED SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I THEN CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE THE CAR TO BE REPAIRED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED AND FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ONGOING ISSUE. IN JULY 2018 I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WITH A FORD FACTORY PART. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE HOOD UNLATCHED FRACTURING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CLOSED THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THEY HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH TO AVOID THE HOOD BECOMING UNLATCHED AGAIN. CLEVELAND FORD (2496 S LEE HWY, CLEVELAND, TN 37311, (423) 218-1622) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HOOD AND THE LATCH FOR THE HOOD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED AT A GLASS REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000. *LN*JB
THE HOOD FLEW OPEN AFTER DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I CHECKED THE OIL AND MADE SURE THE HOOD WAS CLOSED BY ATTEMPTING TO LIFT IT. I WAS ON THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES WHEN THE HOOD BLEW OPEN DAMAGING THE HOOD AND LATCHES IT WAS A WINDY DAY OUT MY SPEED WAS AROUND 30 MPH.
AFTER THE FUEL LINE RECALL WAS REPAIRED IN 2020 THE ENGINE STUTTERS BEFORE IT CRANKS COMPLETELY. I REACHED OUT TO FORD AND THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS OFFER 20 DOLLARS OFF THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE AT THE DEALERSHIP.
BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. BOTH BRACKETS THAT ATTACH FROM THE ROOF TO THE GLASS IN THE REAR (TOP HALF OF HATCH BACK) SNAPPED IN HALF AND THE GLASS DROPPED - HELD ON ONLY BY THE TWO ARMS THAT GUIDE THE WINDOW/GLASS UP AND OUT WHEN OPEN/LIFTED.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle failed to shift from 2nd to 3rd without force. The contact also stated she had to depress the accelerator pedal for the vehicle to change gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The approximate failure mileage was 46,236.
THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT KEEPS LOCKING AND MAKES IT SO YOU CAN'T MOVE AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO RELEASE IS BY UNDOING THE SEATBEAT.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY @ 25 MPH AND MADE RIGHT TURN THEN THE STEERING GOT REALLY STIFF. WAS HARD TO CONTROL SO I CAME TO A STOP. COULD NOT STEER CAR WITHOUT FORCING IT. HAD THE CAR TOWED. WHEN I STARTED IT UP AT HOME THE STEERING WAS FINE. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-25127436. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS RESULTS FOUND TRANSMISSION A-1 CELL DEFECTED IN TWO AREAS CAUSING MY 2012 F-ESCAPE LIMITED THE INABILITY TO SEND PROPER SIGNALS FOR THE ENGINE TO RECEIVE POWER/ENERGY NECESSARY TO DRIVE. TRANSMISSION IS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR. MY SUV HAS UNDER 60,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY FORD DEALERSHIP THE TRANSMISSION HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION BUT, HAS YET TO BE RECALLED. SINCE, I MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED. I HAVE NO COVERAGE FOR THIS MOST EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR ANY/MY AUTOMOBILE. MY CAR IS NOW CONSIDERED WORTHLESS FOR A TRADE IN OR TO GO TOWARDS A NEW PURCHASE. PLEASE SEND ME A CONFORMATION OF MY COMPLAINT WITH AN EXPLANATION OF HOW MY SITUATION CAN BE RECTIFIED. IN REGARD FOR DESCRIPTION OF CAR PERFORMANCE, MY CAR ROLLS OUT IF PARKING,/OR AT STOP LIGHTS BY HEAVY GAS REVVING, ONCE ON HIGHWAY GOING 59-60 MPH CAR DRIVES AS NOTHING IS WRONG DUE TO BEING STUCK IN 5TG GEAR. PLEASE REPORT MY COMPLAINT SO FORD MANUFACTURING CAN RESOLVE AND APPROPRIATELY PAY REPARATIONS FOR REPAIRS, RENTAL, TOWING, AND LOSS WAGES DUE TO NO TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE I COULD NOT EXCELLERATE PROPER SPEED LIMITS WHEN STOPPING, PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, OR AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR OFF RAMPS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN WHEN MY POWER STEERING QUIT. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT MY CAR HAD TURNED OFF BUT IT WAS STILL RUNNING. RETURNED HOME(ABOUT A MILE) AND THE CAR STEERING WASN'T WORKING AND WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID BRING IT INTO BE DIAGNOSED. AFTER TURNING KEY OFF AND ON, DISCOVERED THAT I AGAIN HAD POWER STEERING. 2011 ESCAPES WERE RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. BUT DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD BE $2600 TO FIX! NOT LIKELY!
AFTER PERFORMING THE RECALL THE PROBLEM CONTINUE SHOWING CHECK FUEL TANK INLET..IN THE PANEL AND THEN CHECKING ENGINE LIGTH ON ..ITS BEEN A SOLID PROBLEM FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS AND FORD SHOULD GET THE RIGTH WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM
TL* THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO ITS DESTINATION. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NOVEMBER 11, 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ECHELON FORD (LOCATED AT 4 S WHITE HORSE PIKE, STRATFORD, NJ 08084, (856) 627-8400), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. *AS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. LATER THAT DAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,425.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED OUTWARDS FOR THE SECOND TIME. EACH TIME, THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ANY VANDALISM. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE GLASS COMPANY (SAFELITE) STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,943.
MY WIFE HAD BEEN SAYING THAT HER ESCAPE STEERING WOULD GO OUT. IT HAPPENS ABOUT 3-5 TIMES PER DAY. WHEN SHE IS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT. SHE HAS TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING STARTS WORKING AGAIN. I DROVE THE VEHICLE OVER THE WEEKEND AND IT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN TURNING INTO A GAS STATION. I LOOKED UP THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES FROM 2008-2011. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THIS ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING AND FORD WILL NOT FIX THESE ISSUES.
WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK, AND PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE NEXT DAY IN THE MORNING, WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON IT STARTED VIBRATING, WHICH I THOUGH WAS FROM THE COLD TEMPERATURE, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE IT, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN LIKE NORMALLY. HAD A MECHANIC COME TO LOOK AT IT, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, AND THAT THIS WAS A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM IN OTHER ESCAPES FROM DIFFERENT YEARS. WE FOUND THE RECALL FOR PREVIOUS YEARS, BUT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE 2012 MODEL. CAR HAS REMAINED PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE OCTOBER 2019. HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE RECALL AND THEY SAY IT'S NOT APPLICABLE TO OUR MODEL YEAR. *TR
THIS MORNING I WAS RUNNING SOME ERRANDS AND WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND AS I STARTED BRAKING MY ESCAPE STALLED. I COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IN THE DIRECTION I WAS HEADING AND AFTER ABOUT 4 MINUTES MY CAR STALLED AGAIN. ALL TOGETHER MY ESCAPE HAD STALLED 6 TIMES IN A 5 MILE STRETCH, TWO OF THOSE TIMES WERE IN A BUSY INTERSECTION AND ONE OF THOSE TWO TIMES I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT INTERSECTION AS THE LIGHTS FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TURNED GREEN. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED BY THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THE DAY I HAD PICKED IT UP FROM THE LOT. MY CAR HAS NEVER BROKEN DOWN OR EVEN SHOWED ANY SIGNS OF MECHANICAL ISSUES UNTIL TODAY AND OF COURSE IT COULD NOT JUST HAPPEN ONE TIME OR IN A PLACE THAT WAS A LITTLE SAFER TO TRY AND PULL OVER. A COUPLE OF THE TIMES I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE THAT MY CAR HAD STALLED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD UNTIL I HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED. KIND OF CRAZY HOW MY CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECT THIS MORNING AND BY THE AFTERNOON I WAS JUST A SITTING DUCK JUST WAITING TO GET REAR ENDED AND WITH NO PRE WARNING SIGNS THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. 2 TIMES I WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT STALLED AND THE REST OF THE TIME I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH. THE FAULTY PART SEEMS TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY AND SOME VEHICLES WILL HAVE A SERVICE LIGHT ON AND PRODUCE ERROR CODES AND SOME OF THE VEHICLES WILL NOT HAVE A SERVICE LIGHT POP UP AND STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND GET THE SAME RESULTS AFTER IT IS FIXED. HOW CAN SOME VEHICLES HAVE A MAINTENANCE LIGHT ON WHEN THE ISSUES START OCCURRING WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND OTHER VEHICLES NOT HAVE A MAINTENANCE LIGHT ON AND HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS? SEEMS LIKE THERE MIGHT BE MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUES SHOWING UP IN THE ESCAPE SOON.
MY 2012 FORD ESCAPE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING. IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. I GOOGLED THE SYMPTOMS AND FOUND THAT IT IS PROBABLY THE ETB ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NHTSA DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR PROTECT THE PUBLIC BY REQUIRING FORD TO PROVIDE TOWING. INSTEAD NHTSA ONLY REQUIRED THAT FORD EXTEND THE WARRANTY AN ADDITIONAL 10 YEARS LEAVING FORD OWNERS AT RISK OF INJURY OR WORSE.
MY VEHICLE IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS. I CLOSED MY LIFT GATE TONIGHT AND HEARD A CRACK. MY REAR GLASS BROKE OFF OF THE LIFTGATE GLASS HINGE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT ONLY REMAINED ATTACHED BY THE DRIVER SIDE HINGE. IT APPEARS THAT CORROSION/RUST OCCURRED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SEALED OR WATER GOT IN SOMEHOW. I AM VERY THANKFUL THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IF IT WOULD HAVE BROKEN FROM BOTH, IT WOULD CERTAINLY DETACH AND BREAK ON THE ROADWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT RETRACTED INTO THE FOLDED REAR SEAT. THE REAR SEAT WOULD NOT FOLD UPRIGHT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GREAT LAKES FORD (2469 E APPLE AVE, MUSKEGON, MI 49442, (231) 777-2750) WHERE THE MECHANICS FOLDED THE SEAT DOWN AND IT WOULD NOT RAISE BACK UP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,635.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING A CORNER DURING RAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE SLID OFF THE ROAD CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A TELEPHONE POLE, SLID INTO A DITCH, AND A CORNFIELD. THE WINDOWS ON THE FRONT DRIVER, BOTH REAR PASSENGER, AND REAR WINDSHIELD ALL SHATTERED. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR A PICKUP FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND SUGGESTED TO SPEAK TO AN INSURANCE ADJUSTER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000. *PM *DL
