I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH OVER 120,000 MILES. I'VE HAD IT 2 YEARS. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH ABOUT 84,000 MILES ON IT .. RECENTLY MY COOLANT WOULD GO LOW AND THEN SOMETIMES THE CAR WOULD SAY IT'S OVERHEATING WHEN IT ACTUALLY WASN'T CAUSING IT TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. TODAY, 04/24/2019 THE CAR STARTED TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS OF STARTING THE CAR TO DRIVE IT THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOW COME ON. I SEE THIS IS A VERY POPULAR COMPLAINT WITH THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE TO IF ANYTHING IS BEING DONE ON FORDS END REGARDING REPAIRS OR ANY TYPE OF RECALL . I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE MECHANIC IN THE MORNING
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD - HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 5 HOURS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN OUR CAR JUST STOPPED - WE WERE CLOSE TO A REST AREA AND WAS ABLE TO COAST IN AND THEN WE WERE TOWED. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAD 90,000 MILES ON IT AND AFTER GOING TO 4 SHOPS IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS IN DEED THE ENGINE SO WE HAD TO GET A NEW ENGINE. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE SHOULD HAVE HAD SIGNS LIKE OVERHEATING BUT WE HAD NONE - THEN WE WERE TOLD THAT WITH THIS CAR - THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE NEVER GOES OVER HALF SO WE WERE MISLEAD.
JUST LIKE 130,000+ OTHER 2013 FORD ESCAPES WITH A 1.6L ENGINE. I BELIEVE THIS ONE WAS PRONE TO A FIRE ISSUE. THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE.
AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK (AT ~35 MPH), AN ALERT APPEARED WARNING ME OF THE ENGINE OVERHEATING AND TO "STOP SOON". I LOST POWER FOR THE MOST PART AND HAD TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES (COOL DAY, ~60 DEGREES F, DRY CONDITIONS).
TAKATA RECALL WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON A CITY STREET I CAME TO A RED LIGHT I WAS STOPPED FOR JUST A MOMENT AND THE LOW COOLANT SIGN/MESSAGE CAME ON NOT EVEN A SECOND LATER IT STARTS FLASHING RED SAYING SYSTEM OVERHEATING TURN ENGINE OFF THE THERMOSTAT SPIKES ALL THE WAY UP I AM ON A 4 LANE ROAD WITH MY CHILD IN THE VECHELE AS I AM GETTING OVER TO GET US OUT OF HARMS WAY THE CAR IS STARTING TO STALL. I GOT TO A PARKING SPOT MIND YOU THIS MIGHT HAVE TAKEN 1 MINUTE OR LESS I TURN CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES TO POP THE HOOD AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. THE ANTIFREEZE JUG IS FULL THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE CAR TO OVERHEAT I WAITED A FEW MORE MINUTES STARTED THE CAR AND THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT GOES OFF TEMPERATURE IS FINE NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON I DROVE THE CAR HOME IT DROVE FINE NO ISSUE. I CAN NOT PUT MY CHILDREN IN A VEHICLE THAT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GONNA DO IF I COULD NOT HAVE GOT MY CAR TO A PARKING SPOT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT ON THIS ROAD.
CARS TRANSMISSION FAILED WITH ONLY 33,000 MILES ON THE CAR! I THINK THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE CAR BECAUSE THE BATTERY AND THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME! BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND MOVING FORWARD WHEN THE CAR STALLED OUT BOTH TIMES, THE SECOND TIME I HAD JUST LEFT FORD WITH THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED WHEN IT STALLED OUT AGAIN IN FORWARD MOTION, THIS TIME I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO FORD AND IT'S BEEN SITTING THERE SINCE APRIL 13TH AND TODAY IS MAY 1ST AND FORD HAS NOT RESPONDED BACK TO ME TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES WITH THE CAR? I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION PLACE ON 4/30/2019 THAT IS ONLY CHARGING ME $3,100 FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION WITH A 2 YEAR 24,000 MILE WARRANTY AND FORD WANTED $7,400 TO PUT A REBUILT TRANSMISSION IN THE CAR? HMMMMM WHAT WOULD YOU DO? CUSTOMER SERVICE AT FORD IS SLOOOOOOW TO SAY THE LEAST? IT'S BAD ENOUGH I'VE GOT A CAR WITH ONLY 33,000 MILES ON IT AND WITH AN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THAN FORD WANTS ME TO WAIT UNTIL WHEN TO RESPOND BACK WITH A SOLUTION?
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the “Engine Power Reduced” message was displayed and the vehicle started to jerk and run rough. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle had to be restarted several times before the vehicle regained normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System) The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,137.
CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE GOING ABOUT 10-15 MPH AND THIS IS ABOUT THE TENTH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN SEVERAL DAYS.
WHEN THE FORD ESCAPES FROM 50 TO 60 MILES IT STARTS WITH A TREMOR IN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE, THE SHAKING DOES NOT FEEL IN THE GUIE
AT EVERY FILL UP THE CAR STALLS.NOW I HAVE TO HOLD THE GAZ TO A CERTAIN LEVEL TO AVOID STALLING AFTER EVERY FILL UP.IF I EVER LET THE PUMP TO AUTOMATICALLY FILL THE TANK AND STOP ITSELF I GET IN A LOT OF TROUBLES FOR DAY.THE IDéALE IS BAD AND THE CAR STALLS NOW IN STEAD OF FILLING MY TANK TO 12 OR 13 GALLONS I HAVE TO STOP THE PUMP AT 10 OR 11 GALLONS TO AVOID THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING CAR IDLING HARD AND EVEN STALLING

(1432 US-45 BYP, JACKSON, TN 38305, (731) 554-3673) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
CAR STALLS SOMEWHAT AFTER STARTING UP. RPMS GO TOWARDS ZERO.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN LOCAL ROADS MY ENGINE WAS MAKING S SOUND AS IF A FAN WAS RUNNING ON HIGH SPEED AND I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE LOSING POWER. AFTER ABOUT 2 MILES A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN THAT SAID TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
COOLANT COMPLETELY DEPLETED TWICE WITHIN ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO ENGINE CYLINDER 3.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAD NO HEAT (BLOWING COLD AIR ) IN JAN 2019 SO I CHECKED THE ANTIFREEZE IT WAS LOW SO I ADDED TO IT .THE HEAT STARTED WORKING .MARCH 30TH IT STARTED BLOWING COLD AIR AGAIN DRIVING HOME FROM CLEVELAND IN A SNOW STORM THEN A WARNING... ENGINE OVER HEATED SAFELY PULL OVER . I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED 29 MILES AT 11:30 AT NIGHT. I HAVE READ THERE ARE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS . WE DROVE 30 MILES ELYRIA OH TO CLEVELAND OH . PARKED AND WORKED A CHARITY EVENT FOR 3 HRS THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING GARAGE . WHEN WE LEFT WE WERE DRIVING ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I WAS DRIVING ON I71 SOUTH (HIGHWAY )WHEN THE WARNING CAME ON . I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY .WE WERE ON THE SIDE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 11:00 PM IN A SNOW STORM
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC! GOT IT HOME. NEXT DAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED!
DISPLAY CLUSTER DOES NOT WORK. EVERYTHING WENT OUT. FUSE NOT BLOWN. SAFETY ISSUE. CAR RUNS FINE.
THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO STRUGGLE TO RUN AT IDLE SOMETIMES WHEN AT A STOP SIGN OR WHEN TURNING.
BEGINNING IN MARCH 2019 ON MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED NOV. 13 2018, I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT BEGAN TO DRIVE AND IT DID ONCE I CAME HOME TO ANOTHER STOP AND BEGAN ACCELERATING THIS CAR BEGAN TO JERK AND TURN OFF SHOWING THE BATTERY LIGHT AND CHECK OIL LIGHT COMES ON, FAST FORWARD 4 MONTHS JULY I HAD THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS REPAIRED OCCURRED AGAIN, THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK EXCESSIVELY WHILE DRIVING GOT IT REPAIRED APPARENTLY NOW BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER ON THE 4TH MY CAR BEGAN TO TURN OFF WHILE IN IDLE AT A LIGHT NOW WHICH CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR FOR ABOUT 20 DAYS WHEN GOING TO PICK THE CAR UP DROVE FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS UNTIL THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED AGAIN, DROPPED IT BACK OFF NOW THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT OPERATING ONCE THE CAR GOES INTO IDLE AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN.
MY ESCAPE LIKES TO STALL GOING LIKE 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE STARTS TO HESTISTATE AND WONT GO ANYWHERE. IT STALLS AND LIKE IT SHUTTING OFF WITH THE OIL LIGHT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. I RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT DOES IT AGAIN LIKE IT DONT WANT TO MOVE. IT STALLS LIKE THREE TO FOUR TIMES AND IT WOULD RUN LIKE NORMAL. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS CAUSE IT STALLED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION. IF THERE WAS CARS COMING WHICH I WAS LUCKY I WASN'T I WOULD HAD HIT ON BOTH SIDES. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A CAR TO DO THIS. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND THIS IS A VERY SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS TO A POINT WHERE I AM SCARE DRIVING MY ESCAPE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THE STALLING AND HESITATION ISSUE. I WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS DOES THIS. YOU CAN HAVING IDLE AND IT WONT STALL ONLY WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE. THE TURBO IS ALSO LOSING POWER WHEN THIS DOES THIS.
I'M DRIVING AND MY VEHICLE IS STALLING AND HAVING HESITATION TO GET GOING AGAIN. IT STALLS THREE OR FOUR TIMES BEFORE IT WANTS TO RUN CORRECTLY. I TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY CAR VIN. NUMBER IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND THERES MANY CARS LIKE MINE THAT ARE ON THE RECALL LIST. MY CAR IS ACTUALLY MOVING WHEN IT STALLS ON ME. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND IT STALLS ON ME WHERE I CAN GET HIT OR KILLED.
ELECTRIC STERING ASSIST IS GOING OUT AND ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC MAY ULTIMATELY RESULT IN THE STERING BEING LOCKED WITH THE CAR IN MOTION. CHECKING THE INTERNET SHOWS MANY OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. REPAIRS RUN UP TO $2000 DOLLARS. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT ANY MECHANICAL DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IS LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE MOVING WOULD BE A SAFETY MATTER THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALL'S FORD (2 MERRILL ST, SALISBURY, MA 01952) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VEHICLE REPEATEDLY MAKES NOISES WHEN MAKING LOW SPEED TURNS, DRIVING OVER BUMPS, OR PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. THE SOUND COMES FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION.
AFTER PARKING FOR 20 MINUTES OR LESS, I BEGIN DRIVING AND LOSE ACCELERATION AND MY GAS PEDAL WON'T WORK. I END UP COMING TO A STOP AND STALLING. THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS AGAIN AFTER I RESTART MY VEHICLE. MY OIL LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT COME ON WHEN IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP/STALL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO TWO MECHANICS AND SINCE THERE ISN'T ANYTHING TO DIAGNOSE (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, FLUID LEVELS NORMAL), NOTHING CAN BE DONE. NEED HELP PLEASE. HONESTLY FRIGHTENED FOR MY SAFETY.
ON A LONG ROAD TRIP WITH FAMILY AND FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THIS OCCURRED WHEN IT DID INSTEAD OF TWO HOURS EARLIER WHEN NAVIGATING ATLANTA TRAFFIC AS THIS WOULD HAVE MOST CERTAINLY LED TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. WE WERE DRIVING TO COASTAL GEORGIA AND HAD ABOUT 200 MILES LEFT TO OUR JOURNEY. NOT KNOWING AREA WE PULLED OFF TO GET GAS TO MAKE SURE WE HAD ENOUGH TO REACH OUR DESTINATION. AT BOTTOM OF EXIT RAMP CAR WOULD NOT STOP. PRESSED HARDER AND HARDER ON BRAKES AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED. HAD THIS BEEN A BUSY SPOT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTER AS WE COASTED THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND INTO THE ROAD BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. IT WAS 11 O'CLOCK AT NIGHT IN IN UNFAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS SO I DROVE REST OF THE WAY USING EBRAKE, NERVE RACKING TO SAY THE LEAST. NO WARNING JUST SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. WHEN MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT SAID VACUUM PUMP FAILED. STILL WAITING TO HEAR IF THEY CAN FIX IT, SOME GEAR THAT TURNED IT SHEARED OFF INTO CAM. THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO FISH IT OUT BUT, NOT SURE IF THEY'LL BE ABLE TO. GLADI WAS DRIVING AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN DIFFERENT SITUATION WHERE BRAKES WERE CRITICAL! BAD SITUATION!
WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THE ESCAPE INDICATING LOW COOLANT AND/OR OVERHEATING/PULL OVER SAFELY (LIMP MODE). SEVERAL TIMES, WE WERE IN TRAFFIC ON CITY STREETS WHEN IT SUDDENLY WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND PULLING OVER SAFELY WAS SCARY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAD THE WATER PUMP REPLACED, THE HEATER BYPASS HOSE REPLACED AND THE COOLING SYSTEM "BURPED". DURING THE LAST VISIT, WE WERE TOLD THE "COOLANT STAND PIPE" NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR A FEE OF $1275. I UNDERSTAND THAT PART WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACED DURING FORD'S 13S12 RECALL CAMPAIGN. AT THIS POINT, THE ESCAPE CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO GO ANY DISTANCE WITHOUT GOING INTO LIMP MODE AND POSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO US AND OTHERS NEAR US.
CAR HAS CONTINUED TO STALL.= REPAIR WAS DONE AND SPLICES WERE REPLACED IN BULLITEN AND TEST DRIVE. APPEARS TO BE LIKE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE BUT MANUFACTURED EARLIER IN 2013. SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FROM FORD
I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 60,000 MILES I PUT 6,000 IN 7 MONTHS AND NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN IT DROPPED OUT OF NOWHERE. THERE ARE TRANSMISSION RECALLS ON SIMILAR FORDS.

ALSO, AFTER THE CONTACT FILLED UP THE FUEL TANK, IT TOOK FOUR ATTEMPTS FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ENTIRE SOLENOID EVAPORATION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE BEING COMPLETED WITH MANUFACTURER APPROVED PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. TWO MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD CRASH. THE CONTACT WENT OUTSIDE AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE PASSING BY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOUSE WAS ON A HILL AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REVERSE INDEPENDENTLY. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE OCCUPANT IN THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS INJURED AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND DEEMED TOTALED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR WITHOUT WARNING. IT'S BUTTERS LIKE IT'S OUT OF FUEL THE ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THEN TURNS OFF. ONCE THE CAR SITS UNTIL THE ENGINE GETS COMPLETELY COOL IT WILL RUN NORMAL. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A THOUSAND MILES SOMETIMES IT TAKES 10. IT STALLS UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES BUT WILL NOT STALL IF IT'S IN PARK IDLING. AS SOON AS YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE IT SHIFTS INTO SECOND AND THEN STALLS. TAKING IT TO SEVERAL PLACES AND IT'S NEVER ACTED UP WHEN THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE SO NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. AT 73K MILES, LOW COOLANT LIGHT APPEARED WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE SIGNS OF A LEAK. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT WATER PUMP AND HEATER HOSE WERE LEAKING. THE NEXT WEEK THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME BACK ON SO I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CONNECTION HOSE TO THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS LEAKING. AFTER REPLACING THIS HOSE CONNECTION, DEALERSHIP NOW TELLS ME THAT LEAK IS COMING FROM CYLINDER HEAD. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
INTERMITTENT STALLING OF MY 1.6 LITER ECOBOOST ENGINE. IT HAPPENS EVERY 3 TO 4 DAYS AND ONLY HAPPENS AFTER YOU START THE ENGINE AND DRIVE ABOUT 100 FEET. THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER AND DIE. YOU START IT BACK UP AND IT WILL DISPLAY LOSS OF POWER AND DIE AGAIN. NORMALLY THE 3RD TIME THE ENGINE STARTS AND RUNS PROPERLY. IT WILL THEN NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES FOR 3-4 DAYS. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT WILL NORMALLY HAVE THIS PROBLEM AFTER GONG TO THE STORE AND WHEN LEAVING YOU PULL OUT OF PARKING LOT AND IT WILL STALL MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEED LIMIT.
CAR WAS STATIONARY, WE STARTED IT UP AFTER A DAY OF NORMAL DRIVING. THE WHEEL WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A SERVICE SHOP AND HAVE TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK.
