TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY HARD SHORTLY LEAVING THE HOUSE AFTER THE CAR SAT FOR A WEEK IN THE GARAGE. CITY STREETS AND PARKING LOT. HAD TO BACK UP MORE THAN ONCE TO NEGOTIATE A PARKING SPOT. MADE IT HOME OF ABOUT 4 MILES. POWER STERRING WAS GONE.
VEHICLE "SERVICED" FOR SAFETY RECALL 13S12 ON JULY 22ND 2017 AT FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER IN TULSA, OK VEHICLE IN SERVICE CENTER FOR 7 DAYS WHEN THE WORK ORDER CALLED FOR 2 DAYS. VEHICLE NEVER GAVE ANY INDICATION OF LOW COOLANT ENGINE TEMPERATURE WOULD BE HIGH UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNINGS. VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND DIE REGULARLY. VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER ON HIGHWAY 03/02/19 AND CEASED COMPLETELY REQUIRING A TOW TO FORD DEALERSHIP. AWAITING DIAGNOSIS FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT. EXPERIENCING LOCALIZED OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE CYLINDERHEAD WHICH MAY CAUSE CRACKS THAT COULD ALLOW OIL TO LEAK . THIS IS THE EXACT REASON FOR THE RECALL AND FORD HAS FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND USING IT TO COMMUTE MY FAMILY. FORD SHOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP AND MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR ALL OWNERS EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES IT IS A DANGER TO PERSONAL SAFETY.
AT 68,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON MY ESCAPE. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. WITHOUT 1ST GEAR, THE CAR WOULDN'T BUDGE. I HAD TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR TO GO ANYWHERE.
CAR MILAGE 11500 FUEL PUMP MAKING WEIRD NOISE AND THEN CAUSING CAR TO STALL SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT IDLE WHEN COMING TO A SLOWER STOP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP 5 MONTHS AGO WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME. ALSO WAS TOLD FROM THE DEALER THAT THERE IS SOME ISSUES WITH THE FUEL MODULE THAT CAUSES THE PUMP TO FAIL. I AM TAKING THIS IN TOMORROW TO RECTIFY. MUST BE THE FUEL MODULE AFTER ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS HIGH AND THE ENGINE HAD OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED BEFORE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. MULLINAX FORD (1551 EAST SEMORAN BLVD, APOPKA, FL) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
MY SCREEN DISPLAY SYSTEM IS WORKING BUT NO SOUND IS COMING OUT , NO GPS, PICKS UPS CALLS BUT NO SOUND. THE DISPLAY SOUND IN THE SUV IS NOT WORKING
[XXX] October 3, 2021 at 10:09 PM I also have a 2013 Ford Escape SEL 1.6 ECO BOOST. I purchased the car is March 2018. I was permanently disabled from military service so they made me purchase a very expensive warranty and because I couldn’t work my credit had suffered while waiting on my VA and SS. That cost me 18% interest, but we had no vehicle as we had to give it back while recovering from 8 surgeries . Never missed a payment but I think I know why the bank made me pay $1800 for the warranty in cash. Less than a month both drive shafts had to be replaced. $400 out of pocket. Then Ford said I had a leak and replaced a gasket, which triggered a Ford mandated replacement of the flanged fuel line not covered by warranty. $800 out of pocket. Back up camera is a joke. They have no answer. NOW MOST DANGEROUS ISSUSE. When ever we would slow down our car lost power and stalled. The car had to be turned off and restarted. Extremely dangerous for anyone, but with my three Grandchildren we had to get to the bottom of it. Another Ford dealership said it was a bad battery. Charged me $140.00 and didn’t change the battery. We bought a $200 battery but this has not stop the problem. Seems when you let off gas is mainly when. Making Red lights and stops dangerous, your at a stop light or sign you must be aware that the car could stall 50/50. We can’t put our Grandchildren in the car. It’s not safe We paid $400 to replace the fuel something or other, that controls the amount of fuel going into the combustion chamber as I was told, BUT nope hasn’t worked. NOW when the car does take off the RPM shots up before the gears shift. We took it to get the code read and it’s telling us to replace the TURBO. If they said something should be fixed we fixed it. I ask them about recalls on 2013 Ford Escapes and was told straight to my face there were non though I had gotten letters regarding the doors. ALSO, THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS ALWAYS LOW AND CONTACT HAD TO BE ADDED TO THE VEHICLE WEEKLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 17326922. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE CAR QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC (NO WARNING) FORD MOTOR SAYS ITS IN THE WIRING HARNESS (MANY RECALLS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM (REPLACING THE MAP SENSOR DOES NOT HELP) THIS CAR NEEDS A RECALL! THIS IS A 2013 WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES.
2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L ENGINE STALLS WHEN ENGINE IS WARMED UP. AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF HOUR OF DRIVING AFTER GETTING TO DESTINATION AND HAVING BEEN RESTARTED, ENGINE STALLS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION AFTER HAVING BEEN SITTING IDLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES. WILL STALL OCCASIONALLY UP TO THREE TIMES IN QUICK SUCCESSION. WILL EVENTUALLY START AND NOT STALL. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY IN PARKING LOTS BUT VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND BROAD SIDED SEVERAL TIMES.
THE EPS SYSTEM FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING, AND LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER A COMPLETE INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE MAKES TURNING THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT (NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE). I DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO HINT OF A PROBLEM. PARKED IT IN A GARAGE, AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT." FORTUNATELY, I WAS AT HOME, I DRIVE COUNTRY ROADS ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAD THIS HAPPENED AT THAT TIME I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR TO NAVIGATE THE TURNS.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE CONSTANTLY IS LOSING ANTIFREEZE SOMEWHERE... I DON'T KNOW IF ITS LEAKING OUT AND EVAPORATING ON THE ENGINE OR WHAT... BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE TEMP LIGHT WILL COME ON AND I WILL FIND THAT I AM EXTREMELY LOW ON ANTIFREEZE.... I TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IS HAS NO OPEN RECALLS, BUT I DO SEE THAT THIS EXACT YEAR HAD AN IDENTICAL RECALL DONE
THE ENGINE HAS STALLED TWICE IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME IS STALLED IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION (I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER) AND IT WOULD NOT START UP RIGHT AWAY. MY MECHANIC REPLACED AN 02 SENSOR, BUT WITHIN A WEEK IT STALLED AGAIN, THIS TIME AS I DROVE ON A CITY STREET. THIS TIME IT RESTARTED AFTER I PULLED OVER.
WHILE DRIVING CAR ON HIGHWAY A SENSOR CAME ON STATING THAT LOSS OF POWER STEERING VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL AND I WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY GET VEHICLE TO STEER OR TURN. I HAD TO MANUALLY FORCE VEHICLE TO RESPOND BECAUSE I HAD LOST ABILITY TO STEER OR TURN. FINALLY GOT OF HIGHWAY TO SAFETY
WAS DRIVING CAR ON PAVED ROAD AND CAR QUIT RUNNING RESTARTED CAR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE ENGINE SHOOK AND THE "CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED OCCASIONALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO FOUND FAILURE CODES: P1299 AND P0301, BUT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE ENGINE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
TRANSMISSION WAS MESSED UP WHEN I BOUGHT OUT OF A DEALERSHIP I PAYED 4,000 TO FIX IT AND GET IT REBUILT FOR IT TO FAIL AGAIN.
THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP IN A KROGER PARKING LOT GOING 5 MILES AN HOUR. ONLY 81,000 MILE AND JUST HAD 80,000 MANUFACTURERS CHECK UP THREE WEEKS EARLIER. WOULD NOT GO INTO NEUTRAL AND SOUNDED LIKE CRUMPLING PAPER UNDERNEATH. TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP PUTTING REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION INTO ESCAPE. DOES NOT HAVE A TIMELINE ON WHEN IT WILL BE FINISHED.
BOUGHT VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018, WHICH SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE IS CONTINUOUSLY GOING INTO A LIMP MODE DUE TO "FALSE OVERHEATING". ENGINE THINKS IT IS OVERHEATING WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STARTING VEHICLE, AND WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. WITH 20 DEGREE WEATHER, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR AN ENGINE TO FULLY WARM. OCCURRENCES OF THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: 12/31/18 - ONE TIME, A RESTART OF THE VEHICLE RESOLVED 1/10/19 - ONE TIME, LEFT VEHICLE AT WORK AT AFTER DRIVING 2/15/19 - 4 TIMES IN A ROW, AND HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO A SHOP 2/18/19 - SOON AFTER THE SHOP HAD IT AND REPAIRED A COOLANT LEAK. LIMP MODE OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS NOT NOT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BUT I GENUINELY FEARED FOR MY LIFE. WHILE THE SHOP WAS HAVING TROUBLE REPLICATING THE PROBLEM TODAY, AS WAS I, THIS IS A LEGITIMATE SAFETY CONCERN. OVERHEATING CODE WAS PULLED BY COLUMBIA CAR CARE IN COLUMBIA, MO. STEVE, THE OWNER OF THE SHOP CAN ATTEST TO THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING. OTHER FORD ESCAPES WITH THE 1.6 MOTOR HAVE RECALLS FOR COOLING ISSUES, AND IT IS INTERESTING THAT MINE DOES NOT HAVE RECALLS PER YOUR WEB SITE. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT.
MY TRANSMISSION HAS TOTALLY FAILED AT 105241 MILES. IN THE PAST , THE MOTOR HEAD BLEW WITH THE OVERHEATING RECALL, AND FORD GAVE ME A NEW EENGINE (DESPITE SAYING NEW I FOUND OUT IT WAS REMANUFACTURED) AT 45000 MILES. THE FOUND COOLANT IN THE CYLINDERS. IT CONTINUED TO HAVE CLOUDS OF WHITE SMOKE WHEN FIRST STARTED UP, AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES AT DEALER, THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE TURBO AT 86000. WHITE SMOKE WAS STILL OCCURRING BUT NOT AS SEVERE. IT WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS MUDDY, BLACK. HE FELT THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE TRANNY WITH THE MOTOR DAMAGE. FORD CUS SER REP AND SUPERVISORS DO NOT KNOW THE CRITERIA FOR INCLUSION IN POWERTRAIN RECALL. THEY SAY IT IS NOT IN THE RECALL BY THE VIN NUMBER. MY CAR HAS THE 6 SP AUTO TRANNY AND THE PRODUCTION DATE IS INCLUDED. THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHY MINE IS NOT INCLUDED.
P00C6 , P0234 & P26B7 ARE MY PROBLEMS . MY CAR CRANKS BUT WON'T START
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL 1.6L WITH ECOBOOST IS HAVING THE SAME COOLANT ISSUES AS MANY SIMILAR MODELS HAVE BEEN HAVING. HOWEVER, MY CAR'S VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE OFFICIAL RECALL SO I HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL DESPITE IT CLEARLY BEING THE EXACT INSTANCE IN WHICH THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. FOR A CLARIFICATION OF THE ISSUE. THE COOLANT IS RAPIDLY DEPLETING DESPITE NO VISIBLE LEAKS OR SMELLS OF IT BURNING OFF, INDICATING THAT IT'S LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE (FIRE HAZARD AS ITS A POTENTIAL TO IGNITE) CAUSED IN PART BY FAULTY HOSING EQUIPMENT. WHEN THE COOLANT LEVELS GET TOO LOW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND AN IMMEDIATE ALERT THAT THE ENGINE IS OVERHEATING... EVEN THOUGH THE TEMPERATURE REMAINS UNCHANGED. THE CAR THEN BEGINS TO STALL UNTIL THE COOLANT LEVELS ARE RETURNED TO NORMAL.
I BELIEVE THERE IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH FORD TRANSMISSIONS. MY 2013 ESCAPE BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS AT APPROX 100K. I ALSO HAVE FAMILY WITH FORD TRANSMISSIONS ISSUES. SAME SKIPPING PROBLEM. MY COUSINS HAS HAD TO BE REPAIRED TWICE, ONCE UNDER 100K. AND NOW JUST OVER 100K. I CONTACTED FORD AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. THEN WAS TOLD THEY WOULD PROVIDE MINIMAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT IF I REPLACED MY TRANSMISSIONS. I HAD ALSO PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT HAD EXPIRED AT 100K. I TOOK THE CAR IN AT 106K. FORDS COST WAS STILL 1000S ABOVE ANY OTHER TRANSMISSION SHOP. I WILL NOT PURCHASE A FORD AGAIN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE COOLANT LEVEL LOW WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT CALLED JIM FALK MOTORS OF MAUI AT 808-270-2600 (LOCATED AT 260 HANA HWY, KAHULUI, HI 96732) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,500.
HAS BEEN LEAKING COOLANT INTERMITTENTLY FOR PAST COUPLE OF YEARS. DEALER CHECKED IN PAST BUT NO CAUSE FOUND. HAS GOTTEN WORSE PAST MONTH. TODAY TOLD BY DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT IT IS LEAKING COOLANT FROM THE ENGINE AND THE 1.6 ECOBOOST NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AT A COST OF $2500. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 55,000 MILES WITH ALL PREVENTIVE SERVICES PERFORMED. NO EXCUSE FOR THIS OTHER THAN A MANUFACTURING DESIGN DEFECT IN THE ENGINE. THIS HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED ON EARLY VERSIONS OF THE ESCAPE WITH SOME RECALLS DONE. THIS PRESENTS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ENGINE CATCHING ON FIRE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NHTSA WITH EXTENSION OF SAFETY RECALLS TO PROTECT ALL ECOBOOST ENGINES. FORD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN DOING IT AFTER BEING OFF FOR 0-60 MINUTES. I WON'T BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND THEN THE CAR STARTS SHAKING AND SHUTS DOWN.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH 73K MILES. LAST WEEK AS I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON WHEN COOLANT WAS ADDED IT DRAINED OUT OF THE WATER PUMP ONTO THE DRIVEWAY. APPARENTLY FORD IS THE ONLY RESOURCE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THEY ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TIMING BELT AS IT HAD BEEN CONTAMINATED. THIS REPAIR CAME TO $1600. I HAVE ALSO SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON SEVERAL ON LINE FORUMS WHERE FOLKS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
RECALLS ON FORD ESCAPE. I AM AWARE THAT A LOT OF THE 2013 FORD ESCAPES HAVE RECALLS ON THEM. MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT I HAVE A LEAK IN MY COOLANT HOSE THAT I AM HAVING TO REPLACE NOW. I HAVE HAD A LOTS OF TROUBLE OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK AND MY CAR FOR THE LONGEST TIME WOULD JUST STOP IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AFTER TAKING OFF.
ENGINE STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. YOU CAN ONLY ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WILL RESTART AFTER SITTING AWHILE. VERY DANGEROUS.
THIS CAR HAS THE EXACT SAME ENGINE AND COOLANT SYSTEM AS 2014 MODEL AND THAT MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR COOLANT LEAK ON ENGINE THAT COULD CAUSE ENGINE OVERHEATING OR ENGINE FORE, FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON 2013 WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MY VEHICLE HAS THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS ABSURD.
I HAVE A FORD ESCAPE SEL 2013. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLANT LEAKING. I HAD AN DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE AND IT CAME UP SAYING "ERROR CODE P1299, CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE SENSOR DETECTED ENGINE OVERHEATING CONDITION". I CALLED FORD COMPANY AND A FORD DEALERSHIP TO QUESTION ABOUT THE SENSOR AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR SUV. MY FRIEND AND I TOOK TO THE INTERNET TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE SUV AND UNDER FORD AND NTHSA THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS ON THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE WITH THE FORD ESCAPE 2013 SEL. WE CALLED FORD AND THE SAME DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON MY ESCAPE. I CALLED NTHSA AND WAS ASKED FOR MY VIN NUMBER AND WAS TOLD ALSO THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PART. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL WHEN OTHER 2013 ESCAPE SEL'S ARE. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS FURTHER INVESTIGATED BECAUSE MY SUV IS DOING THE SAME THING AS THE OTHER ESCAPE SEL SUV.
THE VEHICLE IS STALLING. IN MOTION, TYPICALLY JUST AFTER APPLYING GAS OR WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP. FIRESTONE AUTO REPAIR STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS PRODUCING HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAUSING ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY. THEY REPALCED THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY, BUT THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS.
SEATBELT FAILS TO RETRACT PROPERLY. THE TENSION ON THE RETURN IS INADEQUATE. IT WILL RETRACT BY PUSHING THE SEAT BELT BACK INTO THE SLOT TO SOME EXTENT BUT NOT FULLY AND CERTAINLY NOT ON IT'S OWN.
DOORS WILL SHUT AND REMAIN SHUT EVEN WHEN DOORS ARE UNLOCKED AND CHILD LOCKS ARE DISENGAGED. A DOOR THAT IS NOT SECURELY LATCHED OR LATCHED INDEFINITELY COULD OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION INCREASING THE RISK OF AN INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE.
ENGINE AND COOLANT LIGHT ON AND THE VEHICLE IS STALLING AT IDLE STATE AND WHILE PULLING OFF AFTER WAITING ON TRAFFIC THEN PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT, SITTING AT LIGHT AND STALLED WHEN LIFT TURN GREEN, AND STALLED WHILE MERGING ON INTERSTATE. VERY DANGEROUS!! DUE TO STALLING I ALMOST GOT HIT! STARTED TO HAPPEN IN DECEMBER TOOK TO DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY 2/6/19

I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE AND IT STALLS IN THE PARKING. I DRIVE TO THE STORE AND PARK DO MY SHOPPING I START THE CAR AND BEGIN TO PULL AWAY AND IT DIES OR STALLS. THE CAR RUNS GREAT AND STARTS THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO BUT STALLS OR DIES AND ENGINE FAILURE LIGHT COMES ON. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BUT STARTED IN EARLY FEB OF THIS YEAR
STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WITHOUT WARRING. SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE NO ISSUES - BUT THE CAR STEERING HAS FAULT. PER SERVICE ADVISER, THE COST FOR REPAIR IS GOING TO BE BETWEEN $1,500 AND $2,000. BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ ON LINE, FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL - HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT APPLY TO 2013 FORD ESCAPE - EVEN THOUGH THE PART AFFECTED IS EXACTLY THE SAME.
DEFECT CODE P1299 SAYS ENGINE OVERHEATING BUT JUST STARTED IT AND IT IS 6 DEGREES OUTSIDE WHEN IT HAPPENED SO HARDLY HOT.... I PULLED OUT OF WORK PARKING LOT AND CAR ENTERED 'LIMP' MODE - I COULD NOT EVEN BACK UP TO GET BACK IN THE WORK PARKING LOT. LET IT 'COOL DOWN' FOR 15 MINUTES AND THEN TRIED AGAIN TO GET IT TO THE DEALER JUST 1/4 MILE FROM MY WORK. DIED AGAIN ON THE MAIN ROAD - PULLED TO THE SIDE AND WAITED ANOTHER 15 MINUTES (DID I MENTION IT WAS 6 DEGREES?) THEN STARTED AND FLEW TO THE DEALER AND IT LIMPED THE LAST 100 FEET AGAIN. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT IT THE NEXT DAY SO I HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER SERVICE STATION AND THEY FOUND THE CODE. BUT ENGINE IS NOT OVERHEATED...NO SIGN OF LEAKING OR ANYTHING BUT THE CODE - WE WIGGLED ALL THE WIRES ON THE SENSORS AND CAR STARTED AND IS RUNNING WITH NO ISSUE. ... YET. GOING TO GET THE SENSOR REPLACED NOW AND HOPE IT SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
THE 3RD TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON FRIDAY, FEB. 1, 2019. COLD MORNING. WARMED CAR AT 4 A.M. NO DELAY IN START UP. DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES. WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTO A VALLEY CAR MADE A DING NOISE. LOWERCASE I APPEARS IN CENTER OF DASH SCREEN. IT IS ORANGE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND A MESSAGE FLASHES ACROSS DASH STATING SERVICE ENGINE...SOMETHING ABOUT FLUID. I PROCEED ABOUT 1 BLOCK LIGHTS TURN RED CAR SHUTS DOWN. FOOT ON GAS DOES NOT WORK. NO TIME TO PULL OFF ROAD. I SHUT CAR OFF. SITTING IN CAR IN VALLEY NO CELL RECEPTION. ISOLATED. 5 BELOW ZERO. I PUT FLASHERS ON. AFTER 4 MINUTES I DECIDED TO TRY TO START CAR AND IT DID ONLY SHOWING ORANGE LIGHTS. CAR MOVED I DROVE TO SAFE PLACE AND HAD TOWED TO DEALER. THIS EXACT THING HAPPENED 2 OTHER TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IN FEB 2015. EACH TIME REPAIRS WERE MADE AND YET THE SAME THING WHEREBY THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE OR SOMETHING AND SHUTS DOWN WITH ONLY A FEW SECONDS TO RESPOND. AT NO TIME WERE THERE ANY SIGNS OF OVERHEATING. HIGH READINGS STEAM ETC. SPECIFIC DATES FOR THE FIRST 2 INCIDENTS WILL BE RESEARCHED BY ME AND REPORTED. EACH INCIDENT OCCURRED IN THE SAME MANNER. ONE IN 2016, ONE IN 2017 AND NOW IN 2019. INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN CAR WAS MOVING, LESS THAN 5 MILES FROM HOME. IN THE MORNING, WINTER WEATHER. 2 LANE ROAD CITY DRIVING SNAKE LIKE ROAD GOING DOWN HILL. CAUSE NATURE NOT CLEAR. SERVICE STAFF EACH TIME FEEL THEY FIXED IT...HAPPENS AGAIN AND AGAIN. IS IT A SENSOR, COMPUTER ERROR, ENGINE????
AROUND JANUARY 2018 THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW AND COOLANT WAS ADDED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOM'S FORD, KEYPORT FOR EVALUATION AND NO ISSUE WAS FOUND. IN JANUARY 2019 THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT SEEMED FINE. THE NEXT DAY ABOUT 5 MINUTES INTO DRIVING THE HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE WARMING CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE SAID TO SAFELY STOP. I PARKED AND CHECKED THE COOLANT AND IT WAS HALF EMPTY. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR TO DRIVE TO THE CLOSEST SERVICE STATION. AFTER 30 SECONDS THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I PARKED AND WALKED TO THE SERVICE STATION TO BUY COOLANT AND ADDED IT TO THE VEHICLE. THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OUT AND THE VEHICLE DROVE OK. I TOOK IT TO TOM'S FORD ON JANUARY 4TH FOR EVALUATION. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL COOLANT LEAK IN THE ENGINE AND WOULD NEED TO EITHER REPLACE THE ENGINE OR TEAR IT DOWN TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME UNREPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. I SEE THE MANY OTHER 2013 ESCAPES HAVE HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE. IT WAS ALSO RECALLED IN DECEMBER 2012 FOR A COOLANT LEAK ISSUE.
MY WIPERS HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING MULTIPLE TIMES AT THIS POINT EVEN AFTER REPLACING 2 MODULES MEANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE WIPER LOCATOR SENSOR KEEPS MALFUNCTIONING AFTER STARTING THE CAR.

THE ORANGE TO RED WARNING INDICATOR FOR THE COOLANT SYSTEM FLASHED "LOW" AND "SERVICE REQUIRED". THE VEHICLE STALLED MORE THAN ONCE DUE TO REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL CAMPAIGN. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ORIGIN OF THE COOLANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE HAD TO CONSTANTLY HAVE THE COOLANT REFILLED TO PREVENT AN ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,120.

CERTAIN 2013 FORD ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK WHICH LED TO ENGINE FIRES. MY VIN IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST HOWEVER I HAVE HAD TO PUT COOLANT IN MY VEHICLE PROBABLY 10 TIMES NOW AND THIS MORNING I TURNED MY CAR ON AND IT SAYS 'ENGINE COOLANT LOW' FOLLOWED BY 'ENGINE TEMPERATURE HIGH. SAFETY' FORD COSTUMER SERVICE AND DEALERSHIPS REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MY CAR IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AS THE CARS ON THE RECALL, THEY RECOMMEND A TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT ($8,400). THIS CAR DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO HAVE AN ENGINE FIRE FOR FORD TO REALIZE OTHER CARS THAT ARE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST ARE AFFECTED.
