MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL 1.6L STALLS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. THE SUBJECT VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A 1.6L GTDI (TURBO) ENGINE. THE STALLING HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND JUST AFTER STARTING AND PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE AND PUSHING ON THE ACCLERATOR. ADDITIONALLY AFTER THE LAST STALL (PARKING LOT), THE CAR SEEMS TO BE IN "LIMP MODE" AND NEEDS TOWED TO A SERVICE CENTER.
TURNED ON VEHICLE (STATIONARY); AND RECEIVED MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAILED - SERVICE REQUIRED" AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES - TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND THE STEERING WAS FINE. CONTACTED FORD - FORD ADVISED ME THEY HAD NOT HAD ANY ISSUES LIKE THIS FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND OTHER FORD MODELS, THAT HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM! DTC AFTER SCANNING : U3000: 49-48
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL TITANIUM 4X4 HAS LESS THAN 69,000 MILES. THE SUV STALLED FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WITHOUT WARNING RIGHT AFTER STARTING IT UP DURING WARN STARTS. IT NEVER SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR SEVERAL HOURS. IT HAPPENS AFTER YOU'VE DRIVEN IT FOR A WHILE AND STOP AT A STORE, POST OFFICE OR GAS STATION START IT UP AND DRIVE ABOUT 15 TO 20 FEET AT LOW SPEED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, PARKING LOT, AND WITHOUT NOTICE IT STALLS. I RECENTLY PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC, AND IT STALLED ON ME I PUSHED TURNED ON MY FLASHERS AND STARTED HONKING MY HORN TO GET PEOPLE TO SLOW DOWN SO I WOULDN'T GET HIT. I FEEL LIKE I'M IN A DEATH TRAP. THE FIRST DAY IT HAPPENED TO ME WAS ON DECEMBER 9, 2018, WHICH WAS FOUR DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE FAULT, PROBLEMS AND COMPONENT PARTS ARE UNKNOWN! ALSO, I KEEP GETTING A COMPUTER MESSAGE. IT'S RANDOM ALSO BUT DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN BEFORE OR AFTER THE STALLING ISSUE. "BATTERY SAVER _ SYSTEM OFF PLEASE TURN IGNITION OFF OR START THE ENGINE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE,MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND AN ICON ON THE DASH STATING "STEERING ASSIST ERROR". LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY AND WAS JUST ABOUT TO PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY HOWEVER, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. I BEGAN LOOKING ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND NOBODY HAS DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CANT BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE INNOCENT CIVILIAN'S DRIVING AROUND WHOS POWER STEERING CAN TURN OFF AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 62K MILES AND I FOUND THAT THE FIX WILL BE $2K. I ALSO FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR THIS BUT FOR ONLY A VERY FINITE AMOUNT OF VEHICLE. THIS IS BEYOND DANGEROUS AND COMPLETELY NEGLIGENT BY FORD AND ALL OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP OR AT IDLE THE VEHICLE LUNGES AND STALLS OUT. IT DOES COMPLETELY AND THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE RESTARTED . SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROW. IT HAPPENS AFTER CITY DRIVING , HIGHWAY DRIVING OR WHILE IDLING. THE VEHICLE LUNGES AND STALLS AND WHILE DOING SO THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE GASOLINE PEDAL.
2013 ESCAPE WAS "ROUTINE" TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT MATTHEWS FORD IN BROKEN ARROW OKLAHOMA ON NOVEMBER 26,2018. AFTER THIS SERVICE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND APPT. MADE TO RE-CHECK BECAUSE OF A JERK SENSATION IN LOWER GEAR SHIFTS. ON DECEMBER 6, 2018, ABOUT 60 MILES FROM TULSA, TRAVELING SOUTH ON INDIAN NATION TURNPIKE TO TEXAS, CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED AT 80MPH. APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES LATER, THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. CRUISE CONTROL AND A SPEEDOMETER DID NOT MATCH SO CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISENGAGED. JERKING AND SPUTTERING BEGAN AND THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF. AT THAT POINT SMOKE CAME FROM THE HOOD OF THE ENGINE AND FIRE HAD IGNITED UNDERNEATH. WITHIN TWO MINUTES THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE ESCAPE WAS IN FLAMES. (VIDEO OF FRONT IN FLAMES, AND A TRAIL OF FLUID LEADING UP TO THE BURNING ESCAPE). IT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED INCLUDING ALL CONTENT. CONTACTED MATTHEWSFORD AND FORD CORPORATION AND BASICALLY WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAD ASSESSED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FIRE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. MATTHEWSFORD, NOT FORD WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY SHOULD HAVE IN SOMEWAY. THEY FAILED IMMENSELY.
2013 FORD ESCAPE SE. CONSISTENT LOW COOLANT WARNINGS IN THE WINTER. NEEDS COOLANT ADDED EVERY 4-5 WEEKS IN COLDER MONTHS. NEITHER FORD SERVICE DEPT OF MY PERSONAL MECHANIC HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE THE ISSUE. HAS TWICE OVERHEATED AFTER BEING DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE; LOW COOLANT LIGHT DISPLAYS AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY OVERHEATS AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE. APPROXIMATE MILEAGE 57,700
ESCAPE SHUDDERS AND STALLS SOON AFTER STARTING CAR, WHEN PULLING FORWARD AFTER BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE. SHUT OFF COMPLETELY TWICE, LIGHTS REMAINED ON ONCE. FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE PROBLEM, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO ERROR CODES, BRAND NEW BATTERY. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES.
I WAS STOPPING TO GET GAS WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I COULD HAVE GOT IN A WRECK IF NOT FOR STOPPING..I HAVE NOT HAD THIS VEHICLE BUT FOR 5 YEARS AND ALREADY HAVE HAD LIKE 3 RECALLS.. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT IN OTHER YEARS ON FORD'S BUT NOT 2013. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE WHY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2013 MAKES ME SO MAD SOMEONE HAS TO DIE FROM THIS TO GET ANYTHING TO CHANGE...I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD EVER. TO ONLY HAVE THIS VEHICLE A SHORT AMOUNT OF YEARS AND HAD TO HAVE THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD JUST MAKES ME ANGRY TO KNOW I SPENT MY MONEY ON A VEHICLE THAT THEY DID NOT MANUFACTURE RIGHT.

POWER ASSIST MESSAGE AT APPROXIMATELY 200,000. ONLY PROBLEM. FORD SAYS COSTS ARE APPROXIMATELY $1,800. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS. WHY NO RECALL?
ANTIFREEZE IS DISAPPEARING WITH NO LEAKS VISIBLE OR SHOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODE WAS HAVING ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOE MYERS FORD (16634 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77040 (713) 766-3600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED BECAUSE OF THE CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE ENGINE WITH HEAT CAUSING THE POWER STEERING MOTOR TO FAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,465.
DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING IN A 40 MPH ZONE, ABOUT 1.5 MILES, WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAD SHOT UP TO H FOR HOT. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN, REGARDLESS OF PRESSING THE GAS. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF A US HIGHWAY AND FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PARK JUST A SHORT DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER.
VEHICLE WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A FREEWAY, SPEEDING UP, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED AROUND 30 MPH. IT TOOK AN UNACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR IT TO GET UP TO A SAFE MERGING SPEED, BUT I COULD HAVE DIED TRYING TO MERGE. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DESIGN OF THE POWER TRAIN ON THIS CAR.
JUST PAID $2000.00 TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE STEERING ON MY FORD ESCAPE. I'VE READ COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AS MINE. DRIVING OR STOPPED THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" COMES ON. IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES TO ME. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE POWER STEERING QUIT. I CAN'T EXPLAIN THE PANIC THAT COMES OVER A PERSON WHEN YOU HAVE ZERO CONTROL WHEN STEERING. I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND IT TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID A CRASH. SECOND TIME: I CAME OUT OF CHURCH, STARTED THE CAR AND HAD NO POWER STEERING. I HAD TO STRAIN TO GET THE CAR ON THE ROAD FOR HOME. THE LAST TIME WAS IN MY GARAGE BEFORE I DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR MY APPOINTMENT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE WAS TOLD BY THE FORD GARAGE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED IN 2011; THEREFORE, THE 2013 ESCAPES HAVE NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. ALL ANYONE HAS TO DO IS READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS WITH THE 2013 STEERING FAILURE TO KNOW THAT THE 2013 FORD ESCAPES NEED TO BE RECALLED. I NOTICED THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT ON I ADDED COOLANT AND IT LEAKED OUT NOT A WEEK LATER I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE BUT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT! IM SO CONFUSED AND ANNOYED AT THE SAME TIME WHAT CAN I DO!!!!
LEAKING COOLANT ON THE ENGINE STARTED A FIRE. THE DEALERSHIP WANT TO CHARGE ME OVER $9,000 TO FIX IT BUT THE TRADE IN VALUE IS ONLY $9-10,000. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED SMELLING ANTIFREEZE. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ONLY MOVED A BIT, BUT THEN IT CAUGHT FIRE.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND ALMOST STALLS OUT. WARNING LIGHTS AND SOUNDS ALERT DRIVER THAT ENGINE TEMP IS DANGEROUSLY HIGH AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN LAST YEAR. EACH TIME IT WAS TOWED TO MECHANIC AND SOMETHING COOLANT RELATED HAS BEEN REPLACED. HOSES, THERMOSTAT, SENSORS, COOLANT SOLENOID. ONCE AGAIN HERE WE ARE AND IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD TO TRY AND SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER AND HESITATION ON A 65MPH HIGHWAY.
INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (HAPPENS WHEN IN PARK OR WHEN DRIVING). HOOKED UP TO CODE READER AND GOT P026B7; FOUND ONLINE THAT THE THE ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE IS DEFECTIVE, BUT NOT RECALLED (TSB 13-02-15). DEALER CONFIRMS CODE AND THAT ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BUT REFERENCED TSB 16-0052. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER ANY FORM OF WARRANTY/RECALL
ENGINE SHUTS DOWN IN TRAFFIC DUE TO ENGINE COOLANT WARNING, CAR HAS HISTORY OF THIS REPAIR STARTING IN 2012, 2014 AND 2015 RECALL REPAIR, SEPTEMBER OF 2018, I PAID $1250 TO HAVE COOLANT SENSOR REPAIRED ONLY TO HAVE ENGINE SHUT DOWN 2 MONTHS LATER FOR SAME PROBLEM, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE ENGINE LITERALLY STARTS SHUTTING DOWN IN TRAFFIC SO QUICKLY IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY CONFIRMED HISTORY OF REPAIRS AND EVEN HAD RECORD OF REPAIRS BUT DENIED RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH IT IS SAME 5 REPAIRS AND SAME PART.
I AM CONTACTING YOU REGARDING MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE, VIN: [XXX]. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND ALSO CAUSING ME TO BE STRANDED IN ANOTHER STATE. I EVENTUALLY HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO VALVOLINE IN NORTH READING, MA WHERE THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN FLUSHED LESS THAN A WEEK BEFOREHAND. THEY HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO AAMCO WHO DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 39,200 MILES ON IT AND NOW NEEDS A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. TAKATA RECALL: WHILE MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE HEAT IS COMING OUT NORMAL BUT WILL START TO SMELL LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING BUT AS I SLOW DOWN OR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR STARTS BLOWING VERY COOL THEN THE TEMPATURE GAGE MOVES TO H THEN THE SAFETY LIGHT POPS ON SHOWING "OVERHEATING STOP SAFELY" BUT THE CAR WILL NEVER SHOW ANY SMOKING FROM THE HOOD. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST MONTH UNTIL 12/17/2018 I STARTED THE CAR UP TO WARM IT BEFORE I LEFT WORK, AND IT WOULDN'T DEFROST AND IMMEDIATELY THE TEMPERATURE GAGE MOVED TO H AND ON THE DASH IT SAID OVERHEATING STOP SAFELY AND THE CAR WASN'T IN MOTION NEITHER HAD IT WARMED UP PROPERLY BUT WHEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE , AS I APPROACHED MY DESTINATION THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN ON ITS OWN AND THE SAFETY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THAT'S WHEN THE BURNING SMELL STARTED GETTING STRONGER AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME GIVE THE CAR GAS TO GO THE ODOMETER WOULDN'T MOVE PASS 5MILES SO I STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF, BUT THEN WHEN I STARTED IT UP AGAIN BEFORE WORK THE CAR WOULD ALLOW ME TO SHIFT GEARS BUT NOT GIVE IT GAS DUE TO THE CAR SAYING IT'S IS OVERHEATING BUT THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER HAD A LEAK AND HAS NOT PHYSICALLY SHOWED LEAKING ON TO THE GROUND I HAVE HAD OIL AND FLUIDS CHANGED BY PROFESSIONALS AND AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIPS LIKE VALVOLINE AND WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND NOTHING WAS EVER REPORTED TO ME OF A LEAK ANY WHERE BUT SOMEHOW MY COOLANT RESERVOIR IS STAYING EMPTY AFTER BEING REFILLED. I BELIEVE THE ONLY PLACE THE FLUID COULD BE LEAKING IS WITHIN THE MOTOR BECAUSE I HAVE PARKED THE CAR IN SEVERAL DRY SPOT AND IT SHOWED ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKING SIGNS.
COOLANT LOW LIGHT AND ENGINE WILL SHUT DOWN. HAVE TO ADD COOLANT ABOUT EVERY 6 WEEKS OR THIS WILL HAPPEN. I'M A FEMALE COLLEGE STUDENT AND THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING!! HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR ABOUT 18 MONTHS. HAVE TAKEN TWICE TO FORD TO HAVE FIXED AND THEY REPLACED A SENSOR ONCE I KNOW DON'T THINK THEY DID ANYTHING THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT. WHILE DRIVING LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY ENGINE OVER HEATING WARNING, TO SHUT DOWN WHEN SAFE TO DO SO. THIS HAPPEN TWICE. EACH TIME COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. I WAS INFORMED BY FORD MECHANIC LOSS OF POWER IS FORDS WAY OF NOT DAMAGING ENGINE. HIGHWAY DRIVING IS A SURELY A LIFE & DEATH SITUATION. FIRST TIME ISSUE ON CITY STREET SEPTEMBER 14 2015. REPAIR REPLACE WATER PUMP. SECOND TIME ON HIGHWAY NOVEMBER 19, 2018. SECOND REPAIR PENDING. BIG CONCERN IS TOTAL LOSS OF POWER TO SAVE AN ENGINE WITH LITTLE CONCERN FOR PEOPLE. SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS THINKING. ANOTHER ON GOING ISSUE IS VEHICLE HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP POSITION OR WHILE MOVING. ALWAYS HAVE TO BE SURE THERE IS PLENTY OF SPACE, NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN.
I CAME TO A STOP AT SIGN. THE ENGINE STALLED. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. IT TOOK AN EXTRA AMOUNT OF TIME TO START BUT DID RESTART. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN ONTO A BUSY ROAD. UPON ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR RESPOND TO THROTTLE INPUT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND NARROWLY AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE NOR ARE THERE ANY OBD CODES. DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE OTHER YEAR MAKE AND MODELS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I URGE YOU TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION WITH FORD. THIS IS NOT ONLY A DANGER TO ME AND MY FAMILY BUT ALSO TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.
I BOUGHT MY FORD ESCAPE 2013 IN MARCH 2016 AS USED CAR. FROM THE BEGINNING I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE COOLANT. COOLANT JUST DISAPPEARS. I WENT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT HEATER HOSES HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I DID IT. BUT STILL I HAVE TO ADD COOLANT BECAUSE IT EVAPORATES SOMEHOW. NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT AND WHAT IS WRONG, BECAUSE IT LOOKS THAT COOLING SYSTEM IS OK, BUT IS NOT. I'M AFRAID TO TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.
STARTED UP CAR ,GETTING READY TO LEAVE WORK, STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL, NOTICED WARNING MESSAGE OF STEERING G FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED. CUT OFF ENGINE WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED CAT, EVERYTHING WORKED FINE. DRIVE 15 MILES HOME. HAD NO ISSUES FOR ONE WEEK, THEN STARTED CAR AND HAD SAME ISSUE. CUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED EVERYTHING FINE, REALLY MAKES YOU NERVOUS DRIVING UNDER THESE SITUATIONS WHEN YOU ARE A SENIOR CITIZEN TRANSPORTING YOUR HUSBAND TO DR APPTS. AND SUCH. HE CANNOT DRIVE OR ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY IF CAR BREAKS DOWN AS HE IS IN A WHEELCHAIR. GOING TO HAVE CHECKED BUT NO WAY I CAN AFFORD THE COST OF REPAIR. APP. MILEAGE IS 60000.
LOSS OF ANTIFREEZE, CONSTANT REFILLING. I HAVE TO REFILL IT EVERY WEEK OR LESS. CHECKED SYSTEM AND PIPES, COULD NOT FIND ISSUE. HARD SMELL OF CHEMICALS IN VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING BUT EVEN STRONGER WHILE STATIONARY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KENDALL FORD OF MERIDIAN (250 E OVERLAND RD, MERIDIAN, ID 83642, (855) 982-8853) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE SOFTWARE UNIT. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN TIMES WITHIN THREE MILES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS COMPLETED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WENT AWAY AND THEN RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND IT STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MCU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE 2.0 LITER ENGINE. IT HAS BEEN MAKING A BUZZING SOUND FROM THE GAS TANK FOR MONTHS. USUALLY AFTER I PUT GAS INTO IT, THE VEHICLE STALLS. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THE BUZZING IS WORSE AND THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING,. IT STALLS AT ANY SPEED. THE CODE IS P1450 AND EVERYTHING I'VE LOOKED AT STATES THE NO GAS CAP SYSTEM IS FAULTY AND CAUSING ISSUES. THE ISSUE NOW IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THESE CARS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS VERY ISSUE AND WHY FORD IS NOT FIXING THIS IS FRUSTRATION. THE DEALERSHIP IS NO HELP, THEY JUST WANT TO START INSTALLING PARTS, ETC. EVERY FORUM I'VE LOOKED AT SAYS THAT THE PARTS DO NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I'M BEYOND FRUSTRATED AND SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
CAR OVERHEATED AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO PULL OVER ON AN EXIT RAMP. ATTACHED IS MY BILL FROM FORD FOR THE REPAIRS.
I BOUGHT THIS USED 2013 ESCAPE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO FROM A LOCAL FORD DEALER. I LOVED THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT THE FIRST SIX MONTHS. THEN I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING VERY ROUGH SUDDENLY. SOMETIMES A MESSAGE ON THE DASH READS MESSAGE FAULT / SERVICE ENGINE NOW. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGH AND THEN STALL OUT. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. I CAN FIX IT BY COMING TO A STOP, PUTTING IT IN PARK, TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, WAITING SEVERAL SECONDS TO POWER DOWN AND THEN RESTARTING. MOST OF THE TIME THE AFTER DOING THIS THE VEHICLE WILL START RUNNING AGAIN OR THE ROUGH IDLE WILL CLEAR UP LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. I CAN GO DAYS AND EVEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT INCIDENT. OTHER TIMES I CAN HAVE IT HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN A DAY. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF FUEL, WITH THE A/C ON AND THE A/C OFF,IN THE RAIN AND ON SUNNY DAYS. IT HAS HAPPENED WITH THE ENGINE COLD FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING FOR HOURS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE DIDN'T HAVE ANY FAULT CODES STORED IN IT. THEY SAID MY VEHICLE HAD ALL THE REQUIRED RECALLS DONE. THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE IT WHILE AT THEIR SHOP. THEY SAID THEIR BEST GUESS WAS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. LESS THAT A MONTH LATER THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE MOVING, SITTING IN PARK OR SITTING IN DRIVE. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. AFTER HAVING THIS PROBLEM SO MUCH I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD ESCAPES. SEVERAL YEAR AGO FORD RECALLED THIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS TO FIX IT. I GUESS IT DIDN'T. I WISH FORD COULD FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PROBLEM, OTHERWISE THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE OFF THE ROADS.

I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT AND MY VEHICLE STALLED AND SUDDENLY DIED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, IT WOULD WORK NORMALLY, AND DO THIS SPORADICALLY. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF AND UNABLE TO MOVE. AN MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH 'STEERING ASSIST FAILURE'. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITED ABOUT 1 MINUTE. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING OPERATED NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE NEXT MORNING WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THE STEERING WHEEL AGAIN BECAME STIFF AND UNABLE TO MOVE. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER WAITING ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND EVERYTHING OPERATED NORMALLY.

STEERING LOCKS UP DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ITS LIKE HAVING NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR. YOU CAN TURN IT BUT IT TAKES A VERY STONG PERSON TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 3 MONTHS. STARTING NOVEMBER 2018 AND IS STILL ON GOING. TOOK TO FORD THEY DONT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM
I WILL BE DRIVING MY CAR AND RANDOMLY MY CAR STALLS AND THE ENGINE SEIZES AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF. MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAD AN ENGINE FIRE IN NOV 2018. WHAT HAPPENED MATCHES A RECALL FORD HAD ON A COOLANT LEAK CAUSING AN OIL LEAD CAUSING THE FIRE. I CONTACTED FORD ASKING FOR A REFUND FOR MY REPAIRS BECAUSE IT MATCHED THE RECALL. THEY ARE TELLING ME NO BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT LISTED IN RECALL. I ASKED IF IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THERE WERE CARS NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL, BUT HAD THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD YES. ASKED HOW I COULD HAVE I CASE LOOKED INTO AGAIN FOR POSSIBLE PAYMENT AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT THE NHTSA, WHICH IS WHAT I AM DOING.
