TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT COOLANT LEAKED PERIODICALLY FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. EVERY TIME THE COOLANT WAS REPLACED, IT WOULD LEAK OUT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PRODUCED AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT NO FAILURE CODE COULD BE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO PADUCAH FORD (3476 PARK AVE, PADUCAH, KY 42001, (270) 444-0011) FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
MY CAR IS EXHIBITING THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V-551, FORD RECALL 12S41 AND THIS VEHICLE WAS MADE IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD AS OTHER 2013 FORD ESCAPES WHICH ARE AFFECTED YET FORD IS TELLING ME THIS HAS NOTHING TO MY VEHICLE. SAME TIME FRAME, SAME SYMPTOMS BUT NOT AFFECTED? HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ANYONE WITH A SHRED OF COMMON SENSE? THE INCIDENT OCCURRED DRIVING HOME FROM THE IGA STORE WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES FROM MY HOME. THE DRIVE THERE WAS FINE, DRIVING BACK THE CAR STATED HIGH TEMPERATURE STOP SAFELY, ALONG WITH IT TRYING TO SHUT DOWN. SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAITED APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES STARTED THE CAR, DROVE HOME, PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY SAME MESSAGE. PARKED THE CAR, NOW UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO READING THIS ERROR IT IS A FIRE HAZARD. THIS MODEL AND YEAR IS IN THE TIME FRAME THIS PARTICULAR RECALL WAS PUT IN PLACE.
LESS THAT 85,000 AND TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. MECHANIC REPORTS THAT HE SEES AT LEAST 1 ESCAPE OR EXPLORER A MONTH WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SLIPPAGE HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS AND DURING HIGHWAY TRAVEL.
FEBRUARY 2019 I HAD MY WATER PUMP, WATER GASKET, AND HEATER HOSE REPLACED BY FORD BECAUSE THEY FOUND COOLANT PUMP AND HEATER HOSES WERE LEAKING. BEFORE THEY FIXED THIS ISSUES I WOULD SMELL A HORRIBLE SMELL WHEN I USED MY HEATER. LATELY, I HAVE BEEN SMELLING THE SAME SMELL FROM THE COOLANT LEAKING WHEN I USE MY HEATER, THIS SMELL GIVES ME HEADACHES EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DECEMBER 29TH 2020. I HAD TAKEN IT TO AUTO ZONE TO CHECK THE CODES. THEY DETECTED THE CODE P26B7 -REPLACE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE AND THE SMELL IS INCREASING WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR AND USE MY HEATER. NOW I AM GOING TO BE OUT MORE MONEY FOR THE SAME ISSUE THAT LOOKS LIKE TO BE HAPPENING FOR YEARS NOW. THIS IS NOT RIGHT!
WHILE DRIVING, MY ENGINE COOLANT LOW NOTICE CAME ON AND THEN A BEEPING STARTED AND THE WARNING CAME UP THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO STOP SAFELY. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED, A HEATER HOSE AND COOLANT REPLACED. 3 WEEKS LATER, AGAIN AFTER A COLD START (IT WAS 25 OUT) I STARTED THE CAR AND THE ENGINE COOLANT LOW WARNING CAME ON AND RIGHT AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE, THE WARNING NOISES CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. I HAD IT CHECKED BY BOTH FORD AND ANOTHER MECHANIC. THE OTHER MECHANIC WAS TOLD BY FORD IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE HOWEVER, FORD SAYS THERE IS NOT UPDATE AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.
AT 60,900 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. NO WARNING SIGNS, NO ENGINE LIGHTS, JUST LOST POWER AND DURING DRIVING AND PULLED OVER PUT IN PARK AND THEN ENGINE JUST REVVED AND WOULDN'T GO. TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION JUST 900 MILES OVER WARRANTY. CONTACTED MANY CHANNELS WITHIN DEALER AND FORD BUT KNOW ONE WOULD HELP HAD TO PAY $4500.00 OUT OF POCKET TO GET REBUILT AT THE FORD DEALER. NOW WITH 37,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AGAIN AND THE DEALER WILL DO NOTHING, FORD WILL DO NOTHING AND THEY SAY I NEED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION AT THE AMOUNT OF $4500.00 AGAIN. SAME SYMPTOMS THIS TIME, NO WARNING JUST FAILED. THIS TO ME IS CRAZY I HAVE TO BE ON MY 3RD TRANSMISSION WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS 99K MILES. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AND ISSUE WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS AS THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS EXACT ISSUES. ALSO THE MANY TRANSMISSION SHOPS I HAVE SPOKE TO HAVE SAID THEM SAME THING, LOTS IF ISSUES AND VERY COMMON TO FAIL EARLY.
MY CAR WILL STOP WHILE I AM DRIVING IT.. THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON THE CAR SHAKES AND THE LIGHT FLASH... THIS IS DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE UPON STARTING. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS A CONSTANT LOSS OF MOTOR POWER UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (SUNRISE FORD OF NORTH HOLLYWOOD, 5500 LANKERSHIM BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 91601, (877) 510-8967) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES; HOWEVER, THE DTC WAS NOT PRESENT TO REPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR A FAILURE REGARDING THE THROTTLE BODY PRIOR TO BEING REPAIRED BY FORD OF NORTH HOLLYWOOD. THE UNKNOWN DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A REMEDY TO REPAIR THE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINE HOSE FRACTURED ONTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD NEAR THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED FUMES FROM THE ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM TO ENTER THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TESTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS TO PROVIDE FURTHER TECHNICAL GUIDELINES TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 13V584000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), AND 12V336000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), AS WELL AS NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE18007 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED TO ADDRESS THE MULTIPLE FAILURES AS WELL AS THE TWO SERVICE CAMPAIGNS (FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER: 12M02 AND 14N02 THAT HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED BY MAIL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED MY ESCAPE WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT, WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I HAD A LOW COOLANT ALERT- I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE CAP CORRECTLY AFTER AN OIL CHANGE, THEY FLUSHED THE LINES AND COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS SO THE CAP WAS REPLACED. I HAD A LOW COOLANT WARNING AGAIN AND MY COOLANT WAS REPLACED AT HOME, AND THEN ANOTHER WARNING SHORTLY AFTER, AGAIN REPLACED, COOLANT CLEARLY LEAKING FROM UNDER CAR BUT NO LEAKS COULD BE IDENTIFIED. THEN... DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH "TRANSMISSION FAULT" WARNING- PULLED OVER. CAR WAS SHIFTING NORMALLY, RESTARTED AND THE WARNING WAS GONE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY PULLED THE CODE: "FOR TCC JUDDER, WHICH IS BECAUSE THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS SLIPPING UNDER ANY LOAD, AND THERE IS A HARD SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS." WAS TOLD I NEEDED A TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL (CAR HAS 64,000 AT THIS POINT.) BROUGHT THE CAR HOME AND IN THE DRIVEWAY IT STARTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. OPENED A CASE WITH FORD AND WAS TOLD THEY "DECLINE ASSISTANCE" TO HELP WITH REPAIRS. BROUGHT TO 2ND SHOP FOR 2ND OPINION AND WAS TOLD: TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS COMPLETELY BURNT, TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED AT SOME POINT, THIS CAUSED THE COOLING TANK TO CRACK EXPLAINING THE DISAPPEARING COOLANT PROBLEM I HAD BEEN HAVING SINCE BUYING THE CAR, NO EXPLANATION WHY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD OVER HEAT. CAR SERVICED AT FORD REGULARLY AND WAS NOT HEAVILY DRIVEN. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 10 MONTHS AT THIS POINT AND WILL BE PAYING THOUSANDS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT FAILED WITH LOW MILEAGE.
ELECTRICAL FIRE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAR WAS PARKED FOR 10 MINUTES STARTED SMOKING AND THEN CAUGHT FIRE. TOTALED CAR. HAD RECENTLY HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND SAY WARNING HIGH TEMP. STOP SAFELY. TOOK TO FORD THEY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR ON BACKORDER. TOLD ME THE CAR WAS NOT REALLY OVERHEATING
FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS, I HAVE TO REFILL MY ENGINE COOLANT ON AVERAGE ONCE A WEEK. IT DRAINS QUICKER DURING WINTER MONTHS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THIS MAKES NO SENSE SINCE YOU RARELY NEED TO REFILL ENGINE COOLANT THIS OFTEN.
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT FAILS TO RETRACT WHEN BUCKLING UP. SLACK REMAINS WHILE DRIVING.THIS DOESN'T EFFECT THE G LOCK MECHANISM. IF IN A CRASH THE SEAT BELT IS USELESS TO PREVENT IMPACT OF STEERING WHEEL. A PERSON WOULD ONLY HAVE AND AIRBAG TO PROTECT DURING AN IMPACT. SEAT BELT THAT DON'T RETRACT SHOULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN IN ANY VEHICLE.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS A COOLANT LEAK WHICH RESULTED IN A WATER PUMP AND HOSE REPLACEMENT. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT THE 2013 1.6L FORD ESCAPES HAD WHEN THEY WERE RECALLED. I HAVE 66,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE REPLACED THE WATER PUMP AND HOSE BECAUSE OF A COOLANT LEAK.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was losing coolant, causing her vehicle to overheat. The contact had to add coolant several times per week. The low coolant level warning light would illuminate whenever the coolant level was extremely low. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a coolant leak. The contact was referred to the local dealer and was also notified of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V551000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR BECOMES 'LOCKED'AND CANNOT OPEN EVEN WHEN CAR IS IN UNLOCK DOORS MODE. CANNOT OPEN PASSENGER REAR DOOR FROM EITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. TO THIS DAY THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR STILL CANNOT OPEN..
CAR ECELERATES ON ITS ON, TRANSMISIN JERKS WHEN U PUT IT IN GEAR AFTER DISENGAGING THE HAND BREAK, ROLLING WHILE IN PARK WITH ENGINE OFF, TRANSMISSION JERKS WHEN CHARGING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING A HILL. BRAKES NOT HOLDING PROPERLY; I ALMOST ROLLED BACK INTO A CAR TODAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON & STAYS ON. OMW TL THE SHOP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE IT GOES BACK OFF.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COURTESY FORD (1636 DOGWOOD DR, CONYERS, GA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT MULTIPLE COOLANT LEAKS WERE DISCOVERED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
AFTER DRIVING CAR 30 MINUTES THEN PARKING FOR 15-20 MINUTES UPON RESTARTING CAR & MOVING INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR STUTTERS THEN STALLS. ORIGINALLY WAS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM NOW IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE. TAKING CAR TO MECHANIC TODAY TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC DONE. 1/25/2019.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKS FORD & LINCOLN OF GAINESVILLE (3333 N MAIN ST, GAINESVILLE, FL 32609, (352) 372-4251) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THE LUG NUTS USED ON THE WHEELS ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO SWELLING, WHICH MAKES IT SO THE LUG WRENCH SUPPLIED BY FORD TO REPLACE THE TIRE IN CASE OF A FLAT WILL NOT FIT THE LUG NUTS. A GOOGLE SEARCH CAN QUICKLY SHOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON FORD PROBLEM, AND CAN BE DANGEROUS TO THE CUSTOMER AS THEY CAN BE STRANDED ON THE ROADSIDE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME AS THE LUG WRENCH IS NON-USABLE WITH THE SWOLLEN LUG NUTS. THE "SWELLING" WAS ALSO DESCRIBED BY COSTCO TIRE CENTER, AS THEY HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING THE TIRES OFF DURING A STANDARD TIRE ROTATION.

THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER THE GEAR SHIFTER TO ENSURE THAT THE GEARS PROPERLY CHANGED OVER. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE COOLANT INDICATOR KEPT RANDOMLY FLASHING AND COOLANT LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE COOLANT HAD TO BE CONSTANTLY CHECKED DUE TO BEING LOW OR NEARLY EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KING FORD (9555 KINGS AUTO MALL RD, CINCINNATI, OH 45249, 513-683-0220), BUT WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE SHOWED AN OVERHEATING ERROR LIGHT AND BEGAN TO STALL IN A PARKING LOT. HOOD WAS POPPED AND COOLANT INVESTIGATED. COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. OWNER WALKED TO NEAREST STORE, BOUGHT COOLANT, AND REPLACED COOLANT. VEHICLE OVERHEATING LIGHT WENT AWAY, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSING. DEALERSHIP RAN PRESSURE TEST AND CHECKED FOR VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAK. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DISCOVER LEAK OR ISSUE. NOTHING WAS REPLACED OR FIXED. DEALERSHIP TOLD OWNER TO JUST KEEP DRIVING IT AS NO ISSUE WAS FOUND. OWNER DROVE VEHICLE FOR 2 MORE MONTHS. UPON GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SAID THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AND REPLACED MISSING COOLANT. VEHICLE HAS 57,000 MILES ON IT.
MY ESCAPE HAS STALLED 2-3 TIMES WITHIN A 12 HOUR WINDOW WHILE MOVING. I WAS ABLE TO STOP IN THE PARKING LOT AND RE-START THE VEHICLE.
AFTER STOPPING IN MY GARAGE AND EXITING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED AND BASICALLY JUST BOUNCED OPEN AGAIN. I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE IT AGAIN AND IT DID THE SAME THING. I OPEN AND CLOSED THE HANDLE ON THE OUTSIDE AND ON THE INSIDE. AFTER THIS I COULD CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR OVER A MONTH.
AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT AND PUTTING MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE IN PARK, THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. PRIOR TO HAVING THIS OCCURING, WHEN I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE POSITION, WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACKUP, THE CAR GAVE A HARD JERK BEFORE THE CAR ACTUALLY MOVED BACKWARD. SINCE THIS HAS OCCURRED, THE CAR HAS A HARD JERK BEFORE ABLE TO BACKUP ABOUT EVERY 3 TIMES I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE.
02/03/2019 I PURCHASED THE CAR 12/31/2018. THESE THINGS OCCURRED IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS STATIONARY, TAKING OFF AND EXCELLING, IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET AND ON A HIGHWAY (INTERSTATE), DRIVING STRAIGHT, TURNING, BRAKING, AND ON INCLINES AND DOWN HILL. IT ALSO INVOLVES FUEL/PROPULSION, ENGINE, SPEED CONTROL, SUSPENSION, WHEELS. IT STARTED WITH THE DASH LIGHTING UP WITH NO KEY IN IT. THEN IT STARTED A HARD IDLE ALMOST SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE. SINCE I HAD IT IN LAST WEEK, THERE IS RATTLING, POPPING, GRINDING SOUNDS WITH GRABBING AND PULLING UNDER THE BACK OF THE CAR. NOW IT IS THE TRACTION AND INTELLIGENCE CONTROL ALL WHEEL WARNINGS AND SHUTTING DOWN THE CONTROL ON ITS OWN. IT STALLS IN TRAFFIC WHILE THE COMPUTER ATTEMPTS CORRECTIONS THAT FAIL TO CORRECT IT. IT HAS SLID FROM ONE SIDE OF AN OFF RAMP TO THE OTHER SIDE, BECAUSE THE TRACTION/ALL WHEEL INTELLIGENCE COULD NOT GET TRACTION. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. GRATEFUL THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE OTHER LANE. IT IS PUTTING MY LIFE AND EVERYONE AROUND ME IN SERIOUS DANGER OF BEING KILLED. I HAVE MENTIONED SOME OF THE ISSUES PRIOR TO THE LAST SERVICE ON IT AND TAKEN IT TO (PURCHASED FROM) JARRETT GORDON FORD WINTER HAVEN, FL AND (WORK DONE AT) JARRETT SCOTT FORD PLANT CITY, FL. I AM TOLD THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSIS IT UNLESS IT IS DOING THIS WITH THEM. I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK IN TOMORROW WITH ALL THE NEW ISSUES GOING ON WITH IT. IT IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS AND GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. Losing coolant much like the other vehicles with the same 1.6L engine.
I am really uncertain due to the fact that when I was experiencing problems with this car , ford and other licensed mechanic shops were not able diagnose what was wrong with my car . I was denied service by ford on 2 occasions and by time the car was past a simple fix I was unable to use my extended warranty.
Overheating , cooling or coolant issues , coolant bypass valve , ford was unable to diagnose my issues before my motor became inoperable

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT FORUMS, YET FORD HAS NOT TAKEN ANY STEPS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ITS CUSTOMERS. MY CAR, IN A FASHION IDENTICAL TO THE 140,000 ESCAPES WITH THE 2.0L ENGINES, STALLS SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING. IT DOES THIS RANDOMLY, REPEATEDLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE SO FAR AND HAVE HAD THE STALLING OCCUR ONLY IN LOW SPEED SITUATIONS BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE STALLED AT HIGH SPEEDS. MY CAR IS A 1.6L AND WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I'VE HAD THE POWER CONTROL MODULE REPLACED BUT THAT HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. HOW MANY MORE ACCIDENTS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE ALL VEHICLES WILL BE FIXED? THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY ILLUMINATE PREVENTING DEALERS FROM PULLING THE ERROR CODES AND SAFELY AND EFFICIENTLY RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING GIVEN THE DANGER OF THE SITUATION AND THE EXTENSIVE DOCUMENTATION ON THE INTERNET AND THE EXISTENCE AND CORRECTION OF AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM IN 140,000 OTHER VEHICLES. SUDDEN LEAK OF RADIATOR FLUID AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH EXTREME HEAT WARNING. CAR ALERTED TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY, AND ON THE ROAD IT WAS A RISKY MANEUVER. Code P26B7 Engine Bypass Coolant is shown when diagnostic is performed. I have to add coolant on a regular basis (1-2 x’s a week) My VIN has not been included in SAFETY RECALL 13S12 or any other pertaining to engine/coolant issues. My year model, date manufactured which is 1/13, engine type (1.6L) should qualify for this type of recall. This has been an ongoing problem for 3 years plus. I always check my coolant levels before I leave to see if I need to add coolant and I keep extra coolant in my car to add whenever warning light “coolant low” warning appears (which I never know when that will happen). The first incident I did not have coolant in my car and it overheated and engine shut down. I had it towed to nearest auto parts store to purchase and add coolant. I have not had it fixed by the dealership because of cost of repairs to fix since it was not included for recall. I am the only owner of this car, I purchased it May 2013.

I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 ECO BOOST. FIRST ISSUE WAS A FAULTY WATER COOLING VALVE CODE P26B7. REPLACED THE VALVE AND 2 DAYS LATER THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON. TOPPED OFF THE COOLANT LEVEL AND ABOUT 2 DAYS LATER THE COOLANT LEVEL LIGHT COMES BACK ON. MY VIN ISN'T COVERED BY THE RECALL, BUT THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS MULTIPLE COOLANT LEAK RECALLS .
LOSS OF COOLANT AT OR NEAR THE RESERVOIR LOW LEVEL LIGHT GOES ON ABOUT EVERY 3 WEEKS. MECHANICS HAVE CHECK SYSTEM TWICE UP TO THE FIREWALL AND HAVE NOT FOUND A LEAK/CAUSE. THE LEAK OCCURS BOTH WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION AS EVIDENT OF THE POOL OF COOLANT UNDER THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY. THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR ABOUT A YEAR.
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAN STALLED OUT, THEN UPON EXITING ONTO A HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TOOK IT IN TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND NOTHING WAS FOUND TO CAUSE MY CAR TO NOT ACCELERATE. I READ THAT THIS IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION AND BEG THAT A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED TO INCLUDE THE 2013S ALONG WITH THE 2014 AND NEWER ESCAPES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE HE NOTICE THE OIL WAS DRIPPING FROM THE HEAD GASKET UNTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH LITTLE BUBBLE BUBBLING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR OF OIL COMING THROUGH THE VEHICLE VENT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS STOPED AT A SCHOOL LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH,SUDDENLY, THE CAR BECAME WEAK AND WOULDN'T MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 65 MPH WITH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY AND I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE DUE TO LACK OF ACCELERATION POWER AND THE ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON.

I GOT IT IN PARK AND IT FINALLY RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL IN TO PARKING LOT. IT WAS RAINING AND I COULD SEE A CAR COMING IN BEHIND ME, THANK GOD IT STARTED RIGHT BACKUP AGAIN. THOUGHT I HAD GOT SOME BAD GAS WITH WATER, RAN THE CAR TO ALMOST EMPTY 2 TIMES AND PUT IN GAS TREATMENTS AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE GAS, DIDN'T HELP. I ALSO AM GETTING LOW ENGINE COOLANT EVEN THOUGH I FILL IT EVERY WEEK. THIS STARTED LAST WINTER, I DON'T GET THE WARNING DURING THE SUMMER ONLY WINTER WITH THE HEATER, FORD SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THIS WHEN THEY FOUND A LEAKING HOSE $812 DOLLARS LATER STILL HAVE TO ADD COOLANT AND STILL STALLING OUT ON ME. TALKED WITH NUMEROUS MECHANICS AND THEY ALL SAY IF IT WAS SPARK PLUGS ETC, I WOULD GET A MISFIRE CODE OF SOME KING. CHANGED THE AIR FILTER WHICH IT WAS LONG SINCE I DONE THIS. LOOKING INTO GETTING SPARK PLUGS CHANGED BUT DON'T THINK THAT'S THE PROBLEM SINCE I AM NOT GETTING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THINK SOMETHING ELSE IS WRONG

TOLD THEY HAVE HAD OTHER COMPLAIN OF SAME ISSUE. ALSO LEAK AT TRANSMISSION. LOOSE BOLTS. DO NOT KNOW IF PROBLEM IS RESOLVED YET MUST WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR DEALER APPOINTMENT. CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING. NEVER HAPPENS WHEN ENGINE IS COLD. DRIVE THE CAR, TURN OFF WHILE IN A STORE. THEN I RESTART THE CAR, STARTS NORMAL, THEN START DRIVING AGAIN AND IT STALLS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. AFTER IT STALLS, I PULL OFF THE ROAD IF POSSIBLE, THEN TURN THE KEY OFF, AND BACK ON. IT STARTS UP NORMAL AGAIN AND THEN NO MORE STALLING ISSUE - UNTIL I STOP AT ANOTHER STORE, AND THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN, AND AGAIN... ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR FOR 5-30 MINUTES, AND THEN TRY TO START DRIVING AGAIN THERE IS A SERIOUS RISK OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT!! WHEN THE CAR JUST DIES WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY, AND YOU HAVE TO TRY TO PULL OFF THE ROAD - SERIOUS RISK OF HAVING A BAD ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO, AND IS GETTING WORSE.
